TomTom GO Navigation for Negative User Reviews

Not able to contact supportWell this app is great, however after recent update about 1 month ago the expected time of arrival is the time it should take plus 1 hour. Thought it was a mistake and waited till day light saving but This was today and no change. I have since updated to IOS11 and updated again and no change..Version: 1.9.1

With more use I am understanding what this app does. I am to date happy with its performance.Does this app only work if a destination and route are chose? I am looking for it to work in showing speed limits and alerts interactively without a destination. But without a destination it jams up goes nowhere. Having trialled the app can you tell me how to take out a subscription. This seems so hard.Version: 2.5

Useless Sat Nav - Asked for a refundI used this Sat Nav app a couple of times during the trial period and it seemed to be ok. Then, 2 days after taking out the annual subscription the app wouldn’t find post codes, road names or POIs. Then later it found a postcode but the app said “No Route Available” when I pressed start. I couldn’t work out why this was as I had also downloaded the offline UK maps. My phone had a full signal and other apps were working using my mobile data, including Google Maps. Then on the next trip the app worked again. However a couple of days later I had the “No Route Available” message again. I reverted to Google Maps, which worked perfectly. Later in the trip I pulled over and tried the Tom Tom app again. This time it found the postcode and I pressed start. The screen presented to me was just grey with the blue triangle in the middle of the screen. That was it. No other details at all, not even any roads? I reverted to Google Maps again, which were faultless. The Tom Tom app was so poor and inconsistent that I deleted the app and asked apple to refund my subscription. I can’t recommend it..Version: 3.3.6

Great, apart from the new quicker alternative routingThe app is consistently great, with reliable, up-to-date traffic information. The downfall to this app now, however is the recently-updated alternative route guidance. If the app detects traffic ahead and finds a quicker alternative route, it now shows in the route guidance bar that a quicker route is available (rather than just taking it (with no preference to specify)). Not only that, you’d better hope that the alternative route isn’t near a camera or other guidance bar item because you’ll miss it (as it’ll disappear behind it). Also if you’re on a bend and the turning for the alternative route is on it, chances are you won’t see the tiny little label suggesting the faster rout, and the app will otherwise continue to take you down the slower, traffic-heavy route. This faster alternative method is dangerous and stressful to use. I’d much rather put my confidence in the app to reroute me automatically rather than have to figure out which way to turn..Version: 2.6.1

Distracting ads during navigationI’ve not had chance to fully try this yet but when the in app purchases essentially saying you’ve got less chance of getting by an advert (potentially getting in a crash) if you buy it. Please just sell it instead. It sounds like it might be safer. As the survivor of two major car crashes I think your advertising may be somewhat irresponsible.Version: 2.2.1

What does Tomtom do better than the free GPS appsWith free GPS apps on my phone what does tomtom do better too justify the cost$.Version: 3.4

Utter trash.Don’t waste your time. 5 times it took me to the wrong place. Not a live feed as such. Rd camera locations completely wrong, they’re for traffic going the other way. It’s beeps and dings more times than a church bell. It’s as basic a navigation app as you’ll get, only worse. Can’t input any data into it to make a true live feed. If you have Waze, don’t change to this. You’ll be super disappointed. And they charge you for this too! Not good..Version: 3.2.2

Not worth subscriptionI recently subscribed for monthly plan. It was suggesting longer route to my work yesterday. Wrong speed limit and no fixed speed/red light camera warning in few places. One of the speed/red light camera was there since more than a decade. If this company wants my money then it seriously need to update their map. It is definitely not worth paying for map if you get google maps/waze for free..Version: 2.4.1

Not as good as Waze or google mapsI signed up for the 7 day trial. I entered my home location. Connected my iPhone to my Honda Civic airplay. Asked to go home but TomTom responded that I needed to enter my home location on my phone which I had already done. Next I put in a destination and started a test drive. The only solution TomTom had for going off course was to offer u turns. I noticed I was actually g directed to the highway. I didn’t want that. However there was no UI element to change route options to not use the highway. I started over and selected a route that did t use the highway. I ended up at a bridge that could not e crossed as it was under construction as it has been for the summer. I have cancelled my subscription and have uninstalled..Version: 3.3.3

Not ImpressedI downloaded and purchased the app because I had used Tom Tom GPS unit for years. I was very disappointed in this app. You get WAY more with Waze which is free then you do with this app. It makes settings and features of other apps. I’ve been using it with my Apple car play around my area to see how it works and when using car play it won’t load until you physically unlock your iPhone and open the app. I used it to go somewhere local where I have never been before it kept getting confused and turned around and rerouting. Not worth the payment especially when you can use a app like Waze or even “maps” that comes with the phone that offer more options..Version: 3.7.3

I got robbed...Paying $60 for an app that's supposed to last a lifetime then being forced to download a separate app because the lifetime (for me) was only 5 years is bad enough. Insulting me by giving me only 3 years of service because of my prior app purchase is even worse. Making the Go app interface so there's almost no similarity (or user friendly navigation) from the expensive paid original app topped it for me. I went from being a huge proponent of tomtom (and by proxy, my purchase) to telling everyone to stay away from anything tomtom and to get the same services offered for free by other popular apps. Hint: rhymes with shmoogle paps. Tomtom should be embarrassed, ashamed, and apologetic. Lifetime means just that. Changing the app and forcing change without appropriate compensation is extremely shady and we shouldn't have to stand for business practices like these. Until the law(s) can keep up with technology we are forced to being susceptible to getting ripped off by maneuvers such as these. Update: it’s still junk, stay away..Version: 3.1.5

Edited a year on - slowly getting worseDon’t get me wrong still a good app however other navigation apps are catching up or better, here’s a few snags that need to be sorted - faster route option has been changed and there is a green bar with no sound, highly annoying when you’re in the furthest lane on a motorway and suddenly it wants you to come off, why change it from what it use to be? If it’s not broken don’t fix it! - the pronouncing of street names especially with an R is shocking! - when the sound is off or on speed camera awareness only, you don’t know what exit to take when coming up to a roundabout..? Just shows straight ahead or right but there could be 5 exits and it’s not straight ahead or the last Why can’t it have the exit number underneath otherwise you’re looking at the road signs and floor which is pointless in using a sat nav..? - lastly motorway exit number only appears a mile to go? Not help when the electronic signs say “JCT 13 - 15 Mins” on some journeys am I even going to that number? Hopefully these will be ironed out if not I can see a lot of people leaving and going to free services, a shame really used TOMTOM Satnavs for years.Version: 2.8

Bought the over 100$ CAD version. No suppoty. Cumbersome inputBought the over 100$ CAD version. No suppoty. Cumbersome input . After I bought the " lifetime " unlimited maps, it became subscription based. Apple bought their technology and Maps is free. The developers asked me to contact them, without really having a contact method ( in Canada at least) The generic and contorted user pages on the website did not help me to contact, as requested. That's a belgian company. Funny enough, on the 10 yars old harsware I can update the maps, but It's a different era, screen and USB adaptor. Maybe, they will become( one can hope) less deceiving and honor the advertised on Apple store app. Without hiding behind ridiculous and lack of communication. Buyer beware. I was not..Version: 3.2.2

No sound!I have tried everything I can think of and have consulted the web, but cannot get my iPhone X to read out directions..Version: 3.2.1

Didn’t work on my trip to Cancun, Mexico.I downloaded the Yucatán Peninsula area, where included the towns, cities and spots I had planned to visit, and just work to make the back and forth from main cities, meanwhile I downloaded de offline version of google maps, (for Free), and works flawlessly. The paid version of TomTom, sent me at the wrong direction at the first spot to visit, then at the second one was off for some blocks, after the 4th one I quite using it and used only the Google Maps. Make yourself a favor and download the offline version of the area you’ll visit and you are covered with Google..Version: 3.7.3

Why to pay every year ?All Nav now you buy hardware and you’re done. Nav map updates are free forever. Especially there are many options now including google , Apple Maps etc. I am happy to pay 29.99 for one time but not every year. I understand you want to fund and make living but do other apps to have more revenues. Old days with maps are gone..Version: 3.6.3

Life time free MapupdatesWhen I bought my Tom Tom that was the pitch. LITTLE did I know!.Version: 3.3.6

Subscription not worth itYou get the same features on Google map or Waze. Waze is much better option if u r concerned about speed cams and mobile camera. But no doubt the lane change interface looks a lot better on Tom Tom. You won’t be able to search for a place but just type in the exact restaurant. Overall I have been driving Uber and used TomTom for a week and would choose Waze over Tomtom.Version: 3.2.1

Still Rubbish!Nearly a year on and none of the below has been addressed through development! I’ve been using this app for a good while now and it seems to get worse with every update! I’ve purchased the family 1-year subscription and it still has several months before it expires yet, when using the app through CarPlay, the start up screen hangs for ages telling me that I will need to purchase a subscription soon as my current one is due to expire! Also, the voice on this app is useless. Literally cannot say things as simple as Birmingham. When spoken out loud, sounds absolutely ridiculous and nothing like a major city in the UK! It’s the same for the majority of the road names spoken out as well! CarPlay also often struggles to get a GPS location and I have to open the app on my phone in order to kickstart and find my current/starting location for a journey to begin or calculate accurately. Should not be necessary! Oh … and why on earth is there no option to navigate to my contacts when using CarPlay? Seriously? Sort it out … this is not a new app. It should be super smooth by now!.Version: 3.5.2

Visually better, but still not greatI appreciate the visually style updates it’s received over time, finally looks clean and modern enough to not offend. My real issue now are the horrid audio cues. “Turn left onto the rotary” - where to the what now?! You are entering a traffic circle and taking the third exit - all of which are rights. “Turn left in 300 yards” - how about turn left at the stop light. These issues outweigh any improvements. Apple Maps and Google Maps can be rough, but natural language directions are best in class. TomTom is sticking to some early 2000’s level instruction. Still no way to say you are in an EV and prioritize charge stations over gas stations. Lots of little annoyances make it not worth a subscription..Version: 3.2.2

Keeps trying to charge even though subscription is purchasedI’m writing this review on my husbands behalf. This app all around is accurate when it’s in use, however when my husband has been using the app in the car, (and also when I’ve been in the car with him) it’s been coming up that he needs to purchase a subscription to continue using it… he already purchased for a year. So thinking that he hasn’t purchased the yearly subscription like he thought, he purchased 1 month plan while I was with him. So today it popped up again that before he could use the app…. He needed to purchase a subscription. When he checked his subscriptions on his phone it showed that he had, in fact, purchased both a 1 month plan and a yearly subscription. He’s now had to delete the app and get his money back as this should not be happening. I’ve given the app 3 stars, the app is good when it works, but the fact it kept telling him he could no longer use the app without getting a subscription even though he already had paid is not good. Please get this fixed Tom Tom and we may re-download the app again but only once this issue is fixed..Version: 3.4

Not up to dateSave your money and use Waze instead. Purchase Tom Tom about two months ago. The issue is that it does not get updates with road closures etc. I was even directed to drive on one way streets that are reserve to buses and bicycles only. Very frustrating driving around in circles with this paid app..Version: 3.3.6

Needle in a haystack! Just got worse…I live in a southern suburb of Wollongong but this has my address as Wollongong = strike one. I work in Ingleburn (very western suburb of Sydney) but this lists it as Sydney = strike two. Tried it for my local Bunnings store (Shellharbour) but as with my suburb, it lists it as Wollongong! So three addresses (which if I didn’t know) I would never find because for some insane reason TomTom generalises the location? With GPS I need accurate information...... Unlikely to continue past free trial which is a shame as I like the lane guidance. Update- gave it another crack and the online search suggestion does improve it. HOWEVER I CANNOT CANCEL MY SUBSCRIPTION?? The option does not appear in its regular spot in subscription management?? BEWARE. Not sure what i can do here..Version: 2.6.1

Update crashed my appMy phone said it had updates for Mew Zealand.. and hasn’t worked since that. 5 hours ago 😡.Version: 1.9.2

Good app still with a major issueI would love to give this app 5 stars as the ease of use and speed camera warnings are great, but as there is a major problem with the spoken navigation instructions then I feel it is not worth this level of score. The problem seems to be with the UK Serena computer generated voice in that it mispronounces street names and places with and ‘R’ in the middle such as ‘Oxford’. The have has had this fault for several years now!! This is highly irritating and seems completely odd given that all other voices seem to work ok and every other navigation app and their own dedicated Sat Nav devices don’t have a problem with computer generated speech. I have used the app on an iPhone 12 Pro and now 14 Pro with the latest iOS version and the latest version of the app 3.8 I have spoken to TomTom directly and the only solution they offer is the standard one of removing the app, restarting the phone, and reinstalling. This of course makes no difference whatsoever and I believe is just a fob off as they don’t have anything else to offer by way of a solution. Changing to the pre-recorded voice such as Jane works but you then don’t get street names etc. and I like to get the full functionality from the app and spoken instructions. TomTom release many updates that are described as ‘bug fixes and improvements’ but they never seem to fix this major issue. It is difficult to get a response from tomtom about this since they closed the user forums down..Version: 3.8

Gave it a shotI have been using Google Maps, Apple Maps, and Waze for years. I thought it best to give this a try. Off the bat, I was very disappointed that you have to pay for traffic info, etc. where that is free on other map apps. Major interstates are instead stated as US highways. No traffic camera notifications like I get on Waze. No mic search or address entry, need to use the phone instead of the screen. While this is visually nice map and the developers did a nice job so far, I don’t feel that the price is worth it compared with the other alternatives that are out there for free..Version: 3.3.6

SearchingSince last update only search one address next time it says no results to everything until app is turned off and on then finds address but only once.Version: 3.0

Location finding easierHi guys, really trying my best to give TomTom a go but I’m struggling here in New Zealand. Here are my issues and why google maps is unfortunately winning. I use Apple car play 1) no speech recognition for locations - real pain when I’m driving. 2) no text input, so when I pull over because there’s no speech, there’s no text input, I have to use my phone which i usually Stowe in the centre console. 3) Place names have to be exact to find them. In google, I can type the place, the street, the postcode, what I think the place is called all in a search box (or speech) and it comes up with suggestions, on tomtom it has to be exact and has to either be in points of interest or address, if it was all on one, I think it would be much easier. Love the interface, really fresh, looks the best compared to all others, speed cameras and speed limit is great, just need that location input sorting, and I can keep using it! John..Version: 2.0.3

Cars onlyNo walking option..Version: 3.7.3

Very frustrating Traffic doesn’t workDO NOT BUY UNTIL TRAFFIC FIXED ON 4G. I have been using TomTom devices for over a decade and thought I would try the app. Big Mistake. Problem is that the traffic and MyDrive services fail to work on 4G. They initiate on wifi fine. Then stops working after a few minutes on 4G. I might as well use Google Maps. No speed cameras. No traffic congestion. Tried resetting everything. No change. I know it is a known issue as the help forum has it captured for well over a year. Please fix it. Or I will cancel my subscription..Version: 2.7.1

ShockingI haven’t used TomTom for a long time and decided to give this app a go as I used to use my satnav all the time but thought it was getting dated so decided to use my phone as a satnav. Download this app paid my £20 subscription and got going with it. Once downloaded I put in a few locations that I go regularly like Garages is tyre fitters and places like that, but TomTom couldn’t even pick names of garages and big organisations up. I went into my Waze app that I use all the time and that’s been really reliable to me over the years. Put in a few locations and Waze picked it up straight away without any problems. Tom-tom you’ve got to get this right there are better navigation apps that are far superior to yourselves. Even though I’ve paid £20 subscription for this and probably won’t ever get my money back I will carry on using Waze as like I said far superior..Version: 3.1.3

Perfect for junctions, but some weaknessThis app have an outstanding junction view that enables automatically sometimes. Is also fast to render on screen! The only weakness is for search for places, besides good for gas stations and groceries, it lacks information for other places if you dont have the correct address. Like last week looking for a USPS, it sends me first for an abandoned place and after try again to a USPS administrative place, so I end up with no day time to post a mail this day. Google is way better to find places and time open. But I am still using tomtom as first choice..Version: 3.8.4

Map directional cursor and orientationMap cursor and orientation just keeps getting flipped around and confused continuously. Offline capability is not where it should be. Deleting and cancelling subscription. So disappointing. Trying harder next time..Version: 3.8.1

Crashes on launchI can only use this app for about 2 days before it crashes on loading screen the only way to get it working again is delete and reinstall the app, happens all the time, apart from that this is my favourite navigation app and very handy when you drive 500+km a week Phone i use is an iphone 6s plus running 12.4.1 Have just noticed a new update available so will trial on that see if it helps.Version: 2.0.3

Yearly subscriptionThe product is great. However, remembering the days when you just would buy an app and that would be it for a lifetime, I cannot actually justify paying a yearly subscription of any form Tom Tom you need to have an option where you can just buy a lifetime use fee. For now, I’ll just keep using Apple or Google maps..Version: 3.8.4

Lost all my data upon renewalThe app wouldn’t recognize my subscription renewal. It also wouldn’t allow me to renew because it said my subscription was current. The manage subscription option failed to connect and errored out. The only way to get it to function was to delete the app and reinstall. All my data was lost when I uninstalled. TomTom now wants me to sync my data to their cloud to not lose it next time. This feels calculated and forced since there was no subscription problems in previous years..Version: 3.1.5

Limited traffic and poor search locationsTomTom used to be the king. It’s maps are good and speed cameras are excellent. However it does have major floors, traffic it’s big selling point is actually limited. The problem is it doesn’t take into consideration traffic e route if it’s more than 45 minutes away. Many times I have put the app on and it tells me how long it will take to get to work that usually takes an hour, only for me to get half way into the journey and then I get a 30 minute delay. I checked over the months and compared travel times from my house when traffic can be a problem. The likes of Waze, Google Maps and Apple maps knew of delays further into the route and gave accurate times, the TomTom whilst showing there was traffic didn’t give the delay times and would take into consideration until I got closer. I cannot plan when I need to leave for work with this info. Also another major problem is locations of business etc, they’re generally in completely the wrong location and I have in the past made the corrections on mapshare, however you pay to use this app and it’s not my job or users to put it right. There are other apps like Waze, Google maps and Apple maps that are free and do a far better job..Version: 3.1.5

London Road Speed limits hugely inaccurate for a large amount of roadsLondon Road Speed limits hugely inaccurate for a large amount of roads Every journey in London I find at least 4-5 roads each journey the speed limit on tomtom indicated the speed limit in 30mph when in reality is 20mph. Infuriatingly inaccurate. I pay for the speed camera feature. Why has this been inaccurate for years. Also lists 30mph roads at 20mph. Come on get it right!!!! There’s hundreds of roads speed limits incorrectly listed on tomtom. My places/favourites needs to be able to save more places. Limited number available. Can only save about 60 places. also needs a search function for my places. Always listed alphabetically. Very limited. Adding a stop to route is very long winded to do. Needs a short cut on Home Screen. Need a setting to be able to adjust the route guide Commands 1 second earlier. As voice say turn right as you hit the right turn. Too late. Not before or in time to turn loads of times etc. It’s to easy to turn of audio voice navigation. If flashes on screen voice turned off. But an audio alert that you’ve turned it off will greatly help. Turned off in error many times. Quicker route. (Green) does display how quicker it is very well. You have to zoom out the map loads while driving to see it it’s -2mins or -3 mins quicker. That’s crap. Should be listed -2mins on the right of screen route column. Get the speed limits posted correctly. Come on!!!.Version: 3.0

BrokenThis was the best app for driving directions by far and I have been using it since it launched (and previously as a hardware device back in the day). So it is so sad that the latest release is so broken. Version 2.7.2 hangs on launch, freezes when you plug into the car, and sometimes the interface freezes for long periods of time for no discernible reason. Does TomTom not have internal testing, this is so buggy it’s an embarrassment that it was released. I can no longer just rely on TomTom. It’s 50/50 if it will launch when I get in the car. So I have started using Apple maps. It’s ok, not as good, but fast and works every time. TomTom had better solve this soon or I like many others will switch and won’t be renewing our subscription. My advice to TomTom is get back to basics, this needs to be fast, reliable and work with or without an internet connection. This is not a cheap app, we pay for quality, and when the free Apple maps out-performs it you lose you USP..Version: 2.7.2

Not a efficient appFree map apps are far better then Tom Tom, app dint work in Florida even after downloading maps, always shows lengthy route compare to other free apps, will not buy this Tom Tom map again..Version: 3.6.2

I was looking for an advanced GPS, this is not itI thought I could find a better gps then what apple or google have, well this paid app is not that. The free apps far exceed this one. This one doesn’t give an estimated drive time. The maps are weird that you have to download them, it’s not even smart enough to find an address unless you download the map first. You would think if you put your route in then it would figure out what it needs to download. I played with the app for about 30 minutes before driving with it, was so bad I just deleted it. It offered nothing over the free apps. I am willing to pay for an advanced navigation app, but this a step backwards..Version: 3.3.6

No map updatesI love the app but have not had any map updates in about four weeks. The new support system does not help and it seems impossible to ask a question to a live person..Version: 3.7.3

On the phone is great but…It is illegal to use the phone whilst driving and whilst I can use apple car play with a cable in the Volvo let’s face it I won’t be plugged in every time I go somewhere. The app isn’t available in the google play store in the car which is disappointing because I used it all the time in my Renault where it was built in..Version: 3.7.2

Truck version is not ideal for London roadsI have purchased one year truck subscription. On the first day, the app gave directions through extremely tight turns, laybys, streets that are impossible to fit even a van. If it weren’t for my local knowledge, I would have ended up getting wedged somewhere blocking everyone else. I don’t want to give the lowest rate with one star since the app might be working fine for users in different countries. Three stars would be fair in my case. I am leaving this review here in case developers might be interested in knowing the cities where the app has room for further improvement. Its performance in London isn’t satisfactory in my experience. I hope the product reaches a better level in the future, and I can subscribe again..Version: 3.8.4

Free and force to subscribeIt seems this app is free but it force you to subscribe after downloading 500MB of map data.Version: 3.5.2

Update route failureI have just used the app to navigate my way to Cardiff in the UK. This was the first journey I’ve under taken since the new mapping system got installed. What a disappointment, what used to be my Co-driver that I relied on for expert Navigation was lost it tried to send me down Bus lanes, dead ends, roads which have been closed to traffic for years or one but four times. This from a Data source that uploads new maps every time I use it. I also found that during the journey at some points as you approach a junction the information just fads out on screen giving you no idea where you need to go. Prior to this update I had constantly been using TomTom Go as my go to SatNav it was reliable and accurate. However I can no longer trust it to plan the best, safest or legal route. There’s no point in sending you the details you requested as Tom Tom Go has lost my trust I will not be renewing my subscription you know that the new Mapping system has major problems due to the amount of updates for bug fixes you have issued since converting..Version: 3.1.5

Utter sh1tYou have to pay for a subscription before you can even use it..Version: 3.2.1

Forcing someone to do something they don’t want to isn’t a good thingForces you to do a 7 day trial to their $30 / year subscription. You can not skip this or decline it. You Have to accept the offer which will automatically start charging you after the 7 days. Why is it so difficult to get a decent working offline navigation app that actually works without paying loads of money for it?.Version: 3.8

Was Once The Best.Like many others I have used TomTom for many years. I have paid for lifetime subscriptions and then an ongoing subscriptions for up-to-date maps and most importantly Traffic. Traffic hasn’t worked on my device for around 3 months. It’s very frustrating considering I’m paying for the service but not receiving it. This function still will not work even after 2 updates from TomTom. I wish to continue to use TT but I don’t know how much longer I can put up with sitting in Traffic. I would also like a credit or refund of my subscription to compensate for the faulty product. Please fix the Traffic issues!.Version: 2.6.1

Tom tom sync problemHii guys i have Tom Tom go professional 620 navigation and i am using in Australia and i have app as well , when i am recording the route in my navigation its not syncing at all with the app it routes which i recorded it should sync as well but its not and another if in this app you guys add the option for record the route like in which way Tom Tom navigation gps have and vehicle dimensions we can add then this app gonna be one the most selling app . Thanks.Version: 3.2.2

CarPlayIt’s a good app, but it would be indispensable if it was integrated with Apple CarPlay. It seems to me that there’s a gap in the market for a solid, reliable commercial CarPlay alternative to Apple maps, Google maps and Waze..Version: 1.10.1

Good but frustratingThe GOOD. the traffic is spot on. amazing when side by side with apple and google maps. the alternative routes are excellent too. the side bar is good. The BAD. locks you out when there is a map update. updates are VERY slow to download. so i find a revert to apple maps 1/4 of the time. Also it’s slow to load (30 seconds +) WOULD LIKE. turn by turn on the car dash like apple maps and in car navigation does. i think apple blocks this. SUMMARY. good but frustrating..Version: 3.8.1

Too expensiveThis is too expensive.Version: 3.4

Why was I charged for subscription to Traffic that is not available? Please refundIt is well known that traffic is not available on iPhone due to a TomTom Go bug that has been there for many months. Why are you still charging subscription fees for this non-existent service? Please refund me and all other subscribers ASAP since the issue began and stop charging new fees until this is fixed. The app is pointless without traffic. Horrified that TomTom support, as at 7 Nov, are still telling people to reset their network, wiping out all VPN and other network settings on their phone, when it is KNOWN that is not going to fix the problem. Why expect users to set all that up again, to no avail. It is KNOWN the traffic issue is because TomTom Go app does not support 4G or 5G for the last year or so. It is irresponsible and greedy that TomTom are still charging people for the app and say that now they are “looking into it”. I expect a Full Refund of all the subscription fees I’ve paid since this issue started. Why do developers waste time creating new releases with new features when this most basic feature doesn’t work?. Get all your developers onto this problem and hold all enhancements until traffic is fixed..Version: 2.8.1

No voice directions while on phone calFor a paid subscription product you would expect a much better product. During a phone call no voice directions over bluetooth occur. While not streaming music but connected to vehicle bluetooth no voice directions occur. Both apple maps and google maps and waze provide directions over bluetooth during calls- simulating phone call when not on a call. Not worth the cost of purchasing this product until this issue is resolved. Best to stick with apple maps or other apps that fully support bluetooth operation..Version: 3.2.1

Pathetic is a good way to describe thisYou have to download the map first in order to use it, which is fine, in theory. However the way this is designed is that it won’t download in the background so you must have the app opened and primary in your phone otherwise the map will never download successfully. Directly related is the slow download speed. Even on a 500Mbps connection it would take at least 30 minutes to just download Texas. So you are not able to touch your phone for at least the 30 minutes to download. Ok, so when you do this inconvenient thing, is the map good? Negative. I live in North Texas which is growing rapidly. But even neighborhoods that are now built out and 5 years old do not yet show on this map. If I search for a business it gives me promoted businesses hundreds or thousands of miles away instead of what is nearby. Overall it is useless..Version: 2.6.1

Worst I’ve triedI think I’ve tried every navigation system that is ever been available. I have to say that this one was absolutely the worst. I went ahead and signed up for the trial, because I wanted to see if maybe it was worth paying the money, if it was that good as an app! However, the first thing I found in firing it up, was that the maps look faded and hard to read. I installed it on an iPad but it doesn’t size to the iPad without just doubling it. that’s not that big of a deal since I normally would be using it on my phone, but I still found it interesting. But most profoundly, I live on a cliff and the navigation starts down at the bottom of the cliff where there’s a road, and navigates me to where I want to go from there, except that I’m not down there. I fired up a couple other navigation apps to make sure that it wasn’t a problem with the GPS correctly identifying where I was. But they all did it correctly. I went back to TomTom and it still showed my current location at the bottom of the cliff. Extremely disappointing. And hard to read. there were a number of other features I was looking to see if it had, but it was lacking features available on other platforms. And for them to be charging as much as they are, I would’ve expected a MUCH better application..Version: 3.3.3

Room for improvementDecided to use the trial version for a road trip and while it was nice to have maps downloaded as to not rely on internet connection, Tom Tom frequently had incorrect posted speed limits and took you on roads that it shouldn’t have taken costing more in fuel and valuable time. Google Maps was more accurate once we switched over and listed the names of gas stations, restaurants, and hotels along the way. Tom Tom in my opinion is not worth the subscription fee. Waze and Google Maps both have better features and do not cost you..Version: 3.2

Je veux ravoir mon TomTomJ’ai déjà payé l’application autour de $50. et je ne l’ai plus sur mon téléphone. Je suis très très très déçu. Je ne recommande pas..Version: 3.8.1

You have to pay for this? With all the free GPS navigation maps out there, they have the nerve to charge for this!!! UNINSTALL!!!.Version: 3.8

Tom Tom truck Go and WebfleetCan’t find any other way to get in touch. Can someone please explain to me why the Go truck app is more accurate with better junction, weight limit, bridge height information than the most used one of all on Webfleet. Only recently started using Go app and it will actually mostly route via suitable roads. OK will admit that sometimes have to use access only, follow instructions for required routes etc. But so far has never tried to tell me will fit down 6’6” restriction or ok for 18 T bridge. In reality the Webfleet version show’s junction once it is in rear view mirror. Also seems to be 1/2-3/4 mile behind all day. If coming to junction I - maybe others too - expect it to correspond to marker boards. IE 300 yards, 200 yards etc. Do not tell me that junction is 3/4 mile or 800 yards at 300 yard marker board. This is why new drivers are changing lanes late or crossing hatches to make exit!!!.Version: 3.8.2

Where’s the apple car play dash view ???!?!?!?!I was under the impression that with the subscription I would be able to use this with my CarPlay as my main navigation as I love TomTom but that’s not the case, I know a beta has been out but they didn’t let me join and it’s been well over several months and this update has reached paying customers ? It’s ridiculous, I’m seriously thinking about contacting TomTom for my money back because there’s no point for paying for something that won’t work on CarPlay Dashboard, there’s many other free navigation app that will! Please add this ASAP to your app! -Sincerely Dan, and all paying subscribers !.Version: 2.3.1

Not for meI had high hopes given that the app is a pay one and Tomtom has been around for a long time but it was disappointing. When navigating, the vehicle location shown in the app lags the voice by some distance and it got the name wrong on a major street into the subdivision where I live. The worst problem is that the app continually momentarily freezes and then jumps ahead to catch up. After watching that on a thirty mile driving trip it very quickly became really annoying. In other ways it is no better than the free Apple and Google map apps..Version: 3.6.3

Close but no cigarThe maps and directions are great, but the interface is clunky. It takes way too many clicks to set a recent destination and start navigating. The previous app was superior in that regard in that it automatically started navigating to the last used destination. That was excellent!.Version: 1.3

CrashesCrashes continually. If I get a notification from another app or in some locations it just stops..Version: 2.1.5

Needs WorkI really wanted to give this app a top rating but I can’t. Unlike prior versions, the current version of this app when used with Apple CarPlay is way too unstable. It often freezes and requires a restart while driving which is annoying and sometimes very difficult to do safely. No other CarPlay navigation app I have ever used has frozen even once. Also, a strength of this app had been its ability to guide to an alternate route when traffic warrants. Several versions ago they got rid of this and replaced it with a green line on the screen showing a faster route but without the audio guidance. This requires the driver to study the screen, usually in heavy traffic, to figure out the alternative and follow it, a task that is often difficult and dangerous while driving, making this feature useless. There is a lot to like in this app but tomtom has a lot of work to do to get it to top tier. Team tomtom I have already tried deleting and reinstalling with phone reset. I am using an iPhone 7 with iOS 14.7.1. What is the timetable for getting this fixed? Also, what about my second point regarding rerouting enroute due to traffic? Is there any intention and timeframe to fix this?.Version: 2.6.1

Don’t install itDon’t waste your precious data They are fooling They not even ask to try just ask for money to get free trial Don’t download it.Version: 3.3.3

Endless changing license termsI paid a good chunk for an App ages ago. Every few updates TomTom modified their revenue plan. So those of us that paid for an expensive 1-time purchase app just get screwed endlessly as they switch to new revenue plans. Violating the terms of the license agreement that was originally purchased under. Find. Charge me for subscription for new maps, but I paid for a navigation app with a specific version of offline maps...and now I can’t even use them without a subscription?! No wonder the legacy navigation units are DOA, they can’t change the rules or the game after you paid into their system and expect customers to stay. If I have to buy TomTom again, why wouldn’t I buy someone else’s app?.Version: 2.5

Not worth it.I have used many different navigation systems and apps before and this one specifically is not really it. Most of the places and address are still not up to date and the general experience of using this app is much worse compared to its biggest competitor, Google Maps. Additionally, I do not really understand what that subscription, after 30 days free trial is for, because in my honest opinion, you can get a much better experience from other navigating apps at no cost whatsoever..Version: 3.0

Horrible App!I have been using it around my hometown to verify its accuracy/usability when I go out of town. It, usually, only suggests one route…like it’s their way “or the highway”. It does not re-route you. One time, it kept telling me to make a u-turn when I was just taking a different known route. It’s turn lanes are not always accurate, either. It would say to use the right turn lane when it should have been the left turn lane. Even though it proclaims to be the most up-to-date/accurate traffic…it’s not. One time, there was an accident on my route significantly delaying my arrival time when, had I taken a different route (actually suggested by another app), it could have saved me several minutes (about 10, not just 1 or 2). I regret paying for the app after their 7 day “trial period”. Save yourself the money! There are better navigation apps (some even free) out there..Version: 3.7

Great App BUTI downloaded the app and trialed it for a few days, although the app was great I only gave it 3 stars. The reason for that was that it did not have any connection to my Apple Watch. Although I have great long vision for driving without glasses, looking at a small screen on the phone to see when the next turn is does cause me issues, so being warned say by vibration from my watch would be great as it does using maps. If TomTom come out with some Apple Watch interaction on a later release I will be then using it. Keep developing TomTom..Version: 3.2.1

An app that just gets worse and worseStarted with TomTom Navigation app on very early iphone (possibly 4 with very early versions of iOS) and the dedicated sleeve accessory with built in speaker they released. Everything seemed to be ok until they changed over to this new app and iOS 15 came out - then the trouble started. App would constantly refuse to launch. Deleted and reinstalled - Nada. Several times - Nada. Then when it would work, Live Traffic and Speed Camera warnings which I pay for as part of my subscription (even after paying $99 for original version of app) STOPPED WORKING. Tried to get support. Might as well have been talking to a lump of snot. Absolutely useless support staff that don’t have a good grasp of english and seemed to be more interested in closing help desk tickets even though the problems I raised with them had not been solved. Sick to death of this app and the company behind it. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT….you will only be disappointed and will face many hours of painful interactions with their support staff. Waste of time. Going to Waze or Apple Maps for now. Goodbye Tom Tom..Version: 2.8.2

Why does the app take so long to load?I was disappointed that dedicated TomTom GPS devices are no longer available in Australia and replaced my old device with this app on my phone. In many respects it is almost as good as a dedicated device. However, why does it sometimes take more than two minutes for the app to load? (Yes, I have timed it.). I have no other app that takes more than a small fraction of the time it takes this app to load. If it helps, the long load times I have noticed occurred when the network coverage was poor. However this app is surely supposed to work off line..Version: 3.2.1

Very good butI’ve used tomtom now for many years and really like the app. However, I do have a problem. I have sent many changes over the years and gave have seen that they’ve been accepted. But even today, the system tries to send me over a bridge which has been closed to traffic for over 4 years. It tries still to send me down one way street the wrong way and down street limited to buses only. I do like the system but find the backup poor. Why ask for the public help if you then totally ignore it. I wonder how many people have received fines by following the instructions given. It’s time that tomtom updated its maps using information given by its users. If this happened this would be 5* Edit: after talking to someone from Tom Tom and going over all the changes needed making a year plus on. Yhey haven’t been updated. I hope someone does follow exactly a certain route or when they turn left they hit a house not a road Edit 2. Why when I now put routes in does it tell me that it includes motorways and do iI want to change. I haven’t made any changes to the system apart from new versions. Also talking to your bot in support was a complete waste of time, it jad no idea bit just gave the 3 same incorrect answers each time.Version: 3.8

Unreliable Navigation AppBeing an original Tom Tom client and now Tom Tom Go client, I'm finding the new Go app directions very unreliable. I recently went on a trip to Dubbo, Australia, and when inland the app on 3 occasions tried to direct me off and away from the main & shortest thoroughfare - thank goodness for traffic signs. On my return journey from Mudgee, after pressing the inputted "Home" tab, it sent me along the fatherest route, rather than the shortest route, incurring an extra 130 plus km, plus an additional 1hr 40 minutes of driving, than what should have been the shortest route, coupled with 3 completely unnecessary toll charges and running costs. This is not the first experience of wrong directions being given by the app, for in the past I've had similar unreliable experiences. Never had these issues with the original Tom Tom App, only Tom Tom Go. Reliability is an essential part of all navigation apps, unfortunately my experience with Go has not been reliable, nor pleasant, the developers really need to get their act and the Go app act together. As an additional issue, you cannot find any direct contact details on the Tom Tom Web site to talk with anyone or make a complaint, just a run around, very very disappointing..Version: 3.1.5

Rip off for HGV drivers.I am aghast at the propensity of companies to rip of HGV drivers. We don’t get reimbursed for this, we don’t get paid enough for the extra. It’s scandalous. Find another way to get your coin. Not from the hardworking people that drive the country… Did you know that many drivers are on less than £13/hr. Any mistake can lead them to road stop fines or even having their vocational license suspended. To boot, lorry drivers are first responsible for everyone else now. If you ride your bike or car down the blind side of a trailer, it’s not your fault for being squeezed, you’re deemed too stupid to understand the consequences, it’s the HGV driver’s fault for squashing you!! And yet companies like this want to add extra costs to drivers. It should be law that operators supply decent Satellite Navigation for all vehicles making deliveries, suitable to the vehicle size. It’s not… it’s another tax on drivers. No wonder why the shelves are not always full at the supermarket, who wants this job… there’s more to life than a few extra pennies you have to work 60 plus hours a week for, with very little sleep. Don’t blame the drivers, blame the operators (delivery companies) and those making life more difficult, like this TomTom company, who want to add extra cost and extra pressures; for the accidents that happen every day. Shame on you TomTom. Profiteering..Version: 3.8.1

Not very goodI wanted to love this app, but it is so hit and miss. I wanted to use it to replace my tom tom rider 550. I create routes and save them to mydrive, but more often than not they won’t sync into the TT go app. The other week I needed to rely on voice prompts with the phone in my pocket, but I would get a couple of prompts and then it would stop, making it useless. I had downloaded the maps previously, then when I went to plan a route it said that I didn’t have a subscription, funny how once I had a mobile signal it suddenly found my subscription, so it won’t work if you don’t have a phone signal and need to use it off line. Tried it one last time, sent me into a town centre then kept telling me to turn right, into a no entry no right turn street. No matter how far I went away from the route it still directed me back to that point, thank goodness apple maps was on hand to save the day..Version: 3.3.3

UnreliableThis application is so unreliable. If you are in a location where there is no internet, the app just takes forever to load. In addition to that, the places in the app is outdated (like gasoline stations that are no longer there). Even the speed limit is nowhere near accurate..Version: 2.8.3

Retrograde junkOriginal app, and car kit was ok. But had appalling software/hardware support. This app has made significant progress towards being junkware. I'll continue to use the now wholly unsupported old software and cradle (via Bluetooth) whose connector is pre lightening. At least Tomtom has yet to direct me to go reverse around a roundabout, or over a cliff as some other apps have achieved. Would o download this junkware again. No..Version: 1.4

Offline Mode Concern during HurricaneI recently purchased a family subscription, one of the main reasons for the decision was offline maps downloaded so I could navigate if there was no cellular service. I have been having issues with the widget not working saying something to the effect of check my subscription, which had already been processed. I deleted the app and reinstalled all my maps again still same issue. I live in central/south Florida’s and we recently had hurricane Ian wreck everything around us. I had no cellular service, could not even get a simple SMS text through. We had to check on a friend of the family and wasn’t sure about how to get there so I started my TomTom app and nothing. It kept telling me it could not verify my subscription. When I needed it the most for truly offline it failed. I’m writing this review to the developers, please look into this issue. This was the moment your app is designed to work and I was faced with complete disappointment..Version: 3.3.1

Useless to meI loaded tomtom go on my iPhone 6 plus because my previous tomtom was no longer supported with upgrades. Everything was fine with the app download but as soon as I tried to upgrade the software, all I got was repeated messages that upgrade was unable to complete. I then thought I would try to get tomtom help, which turned out to be a further attempt to bleed me of more money to pay for the help. I think I will put up with my old tomtom and old maps..Version: 1.9.2

Good, but has the potential to be great....I’ve been using Apple CarPlay for a few months now, & whilst it is good, there are a couple of things that would make this a great app....1/ Sometimes searching on CarPlay is slow, and/or sometimes shows no results. But put the same search using the app on the phone, & the results are immediate? 2/ The spoken instructions are minimal ‘Keep right’, ‘Exit ahead’, etc.... I often find myself having to look at the screen for a split second, when my eyes should be on the road. I would like something said like ‘take exit number, signposted.....’, or ‘Turn left onto ‘..... Road’. Remember when using navigation, in most cases, a driver won’t know the roads. So being able to hear clear spoken instructions, with informative information, mean eyes can remain on the road..Version: 2.4.1

Disappointed kiwi.Having brought the original TomTom app in New Zealand for NZD 120 and now finding its no long available to transfer to my new phone and the only option is to sign up to their billing option I would never use them again or recommend them..Version: 2.1.5

Hgv driver hereHi Couple of issues here. 1st one is the blue line navigation through junctions. Have a look at A1 junction with M18. If you turn left towards M18 north it will tell you that ALL Three lanes are turning left (not correct!). From the slip road all the way to the actual turn - this is wrong on many junction and generally not reliable which is a shame for otherwise good product! 2nd one I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE when I put mobile phone to horizontal position I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE SYSTEM TIME DISPLAYED. Old sat navs always had the time in the corner and its right there in my eye sight. Now all I get is arrival time but NOT CURRENT time and that bothers me since I have to record time of delivery and search for time all over the truck! 3rd one is very questionable routing. Didn’t put me in any illegal situations but very questionable routing using roads not practical for lorry. If I would be new driver I would have few very uneasy moments ( it will happily send you through streets where you don't want to be in the 44ton lorry (Bradford) tight residential streets with tight turns where slightly longer BUT more practical road is available. Don't forget that us hgv drivers we need to trust your product that its not going to take us streets designed just for cars like google maps would do. I have turned off the online routing and will give it try! You can have my subscription for a life if you address the issues. I am yours just for this year otherwise. Thank you.Version: 3.8.4

Crashing with CarPlay / No alertsI have used TomTom products for over 20 years and bought this app to use with Apple CarPlay. The app often crashes and so does not load on my car or says update your subscription even if bought. The speed limits are wrong and worse than my Go520. You can not update these and the speed alert does not work. It is possible to get better products for Apple CarPlay and so this is a sad..Version: 2.3.1

So I like it but……I have tried all the mapping apps and it is definitely a good try, but it does not register as a mapping app apparently so when some one sends you an address or you see an address you click on it every other app pops in the list to go to but not TOMTOM. You have to copy and paste so frequently I just use Apple Maps which is ok and gives me traffic cameras and some times is as good but has no offline maps. I want the option to avoid traffic cameras. I believe apple actually licensed TomTom maps.Version: 3.8

This app asked for an access to personal dataFirst time run, and first what it asks is the access to my contacts. Why do you need to know all people from my contacts and their contact info? Just do your job: be a navigator! Uninstalled..Version: 3.8.1

Mauvaise informationPar deux fois le gps nous a induit en erreur en changeant de direction à la dernière minute. Vraiment désagréable..Version: 3.7.3

Won’t load.Starting to use Apple Maps now as this has become unusable. Update: have deleted and reinstalled and it’s still rubbish. Takes ages to load, can’t find places, won’t connect to CarPlay. All sorts of problems since last update. Not good when you rely on it when travelling. Not happy at all. I have recently travelled to Scotland where phone signals are poor but assumed I would be ok with TomTom as the maps are all downloaded to my phone. However, I had to give up trying to use TomTom as the app constantly failed to open when there was little or no phone signal. Also, since latest update, CarPlay isn’t working very well - temperamental when starting up. And TomTom has had a tendency to crash. I’m all for updates, but when I shell out money for a sat nav I expect it to work better than the standard Apple maps which is free..Version: 2.8

Love it but has some issuesI use it for my daily drive and I love it but there are some basic issues that need to be fixed. Recent update has affected the search function. It is not possible to search using suburb names. There are some map issues such as wrong location of POIs such as hospitals and shops which needs to be fixed. There is no option to report such errors from the app. The speed limit tolerance cannot be set. we should be able to get an alert exactly at speed limit not after crossing the limit. when on free drive mode ( No route navigation selected) the map always points to north as default. It is better to point it to the driving direction. There is no option to select it as default..Version: 2.2.1

Features missingUpdated from the previous TomTom NZ application, and I can't seem do the following: Add multiple waypoints to a route. Pre plan a route. Share a route. Change the route type to be "Windiest Route". These features were a major part of why I used the TomTom app, without them it becomes the same as Google Maps or Waze..Version: 1.1

Melbourne is a 3000km suburbSo there are no longer any suburbs in Victoria? Every street is in Melbourne with a different postcode Good way to encourage people to use google maps. Didn’t you move to a yearly subscription model? Great way not to renew I go an open the app today and there is amandatory map update and the app won’t function until it downloads. But it was working 2 days ago when used. What level of moron produces an app to be used when out, and requires mandatory updates and makes it unusable until they are complete? Maybe when you first install it, but after you have had it for 6 years..Version: 2.7

Not updatedLots of places we can’t find exactly such a waste of money.Version: 3.2.1

So disappointed I removed the app even though I paid for a year.Even though I paid for a year on July 1st I am so dissatisfied I removed the app from my phone. If you have owned a Garmin I doubt you will ever be satisfied with tomtom. This app rarely shows the name of a cross street at an intersection. Support contacted me if I could provide an example, after driving for another 3 weeks with the app on constantly I have yet to come to any intersection where the cross street name is available. Using TomTom MyDrive on a large screen PC it’s possible to locate the cross street name, but certainly not on the mobile app. TomTom GO Navigation TomTom "Hi Jwaand! We’re sorry you had a bad experience. We request you to help us with the name of the maps installed on your phone and also confirm if changing the zoom orientation helps? ^Team TomTom I no longer have the app on my phone. Changing the zoom makes no difference, this is simply something that tomtom doesn’t feature. My neighbor has an $80 thousand dollar Audi with built in tomtom navigation, and has the same problem. His answer is simply to use Apple Maps via AirPlay..Version: 2.6.1

Worse than terribleThis is not a trick specific app as it was portrayed to be in the vehicle section. The only choice is, it gave me was for a vehicle with a combustion engine, and the maximum speed limit that I would like to put in. I am glad I tested in my pick up instead of my semi it was trying to take me down streets that my pick up truck would hardly fit on. That’s why I tested it on a route that I was very familiar with. I will not be extending my free trial. It also did not give the name of the state highway. That would be the main highway if it was also a County Road it would give the County Road number, this thing needs lots of work.Version: 3.8

Better & more accurate traffic neededI use the TomTom app in tandem with the WAZE app (free service) which has a lot of cool features then the TomTom app & WAZE seems to give more accurate traffic information, don’t get me wrong I prefer the TomTom layout but just want to be able to trust TomTom for trip information especially as a paid service, would also love to see more improvements with CarPlay especially to be able to report things like e.g. speed cameras, etc more easily. Thanks.Version: 2.6.1

Yep, it's good.Running this on WiFi only iPad bluetoothed to a Dual XGPS150. Really very good..Version: 2.4.1

GoogleMaps and Waze are totally free to all users! Why would anyone ever pay for a navigation app on their phone, when GoogleMaps is free to all users, and so is WAZE??? As soon as I opened the TomTom app which seemed to be free when I first saw it to download it, it asked if I wanna waste my money on it. Hell no! After that, not even for free would I use it. Zero stars for trying to trick people to download it. I would love to see the comparison of how many users download the app, vs how many keep it and pay subscription. I bet less than 30% keep it after the free trial. And I also bet that more than 80% of those who kept it past the free trial, did it accidentally cuz they forgot to cancel. I guarantee they won’t make that mistake on renewal time LoL.Version: 3.8.2

Waste of an hourWasted an hr trying to work this out will stick with the standard Tom Tom. Just can't seem to load another country.Version: 1.1

TomTom let me downThe only reason I pay the annual fee for TomTom is to use in rural areas with no cell service (Waze is my go-to). On this weekend trip to the coast TomTom kept freezing on the screen the condition that would cause this was if my phone got a brief cell signal then lost it. To fix it I would have to pull over, close the app, then restart it. This happened 3 times before I gave up on it. Fortunately I pre-loaded the area in Google maps and was able to enjoy the rest of my trip without issues, no thanks to TomTom. As a long time user (including the original app they discontinued) I will no longer be paying the annual fee. App will be deleted and I’ll be looking for other hard load app options. Review update... after Karen’s (TomTom’s rep on here) response I went to the support page she referred to in attempt to give the details of the problem so they can fix the bug. I got a robot that just kept referring me back to the same page. Too bad. I once liked TomTom..Version: 2.4.1

No language option, really?I like the app a lot, but giving it 3 stars as some on screen directions are in French (exit left for example) and there is no option in settings to change it. I only have units and not units and language like some manuals show..Version: 3.6

No voice for navigationHave tried untold options of settings and delete and download. It is just frustrating. No way to seek support from Tomtom. Spent many hours trying to solve both the Navigation voice and also to contact Tomtom. My suggestion is do not part with your funds as you will be as frustrated as me. I am on ios16.2 for iPhone 13. Have tried the website as sent to me from TomTom for seeking help but that is pathetic. Absolutely no way to request help from that website. Again do not waste your money because if you strike problems TomTom in no way will help..Version: 3.4

Subpar in Apple CarPlayAdding a stop to the active route is clunky. Quite often the first recommendation is a place that you have to u-turn to reach (just show me what's ahead on the route). Once added the stop cannot be removed..Version: 3.6.3

Decent but..The problem with this app is the fact you have to pay. There’s 4 players in this market, Google maps, Apple Maps, Waze and this app. There is no doubt that this is a good app, it’s super easy to use, looks great and has all the features you want such as knowing where the cameras are, live traffic etc but then again so does Waze and it’s free? It’s also much harder than Waze to add something along the journey such as hidden police, pot holes, hazards etc. It’s a shame as interface wise it could be up there but it’ll never have as many users as their main competitor due to the fee plus the fact you can’t share with people the mentioned hazards. I think in this age, most people would rather have the company gather advertisements and get rid of the subscription or at least have that option..Version: 3.0.1

Works when not in motion freezes when drivingI so wanted to love this app, got my offline maps download, created a new Tom Tom account to synchronize and was planning to subscribe after the trial period was over. The app never crashed once or froze while doing this. However when used while driving froze within the first 5 minutes. Had to restart the app and start navigation and within 5 minutes froze again. The 2 times it was connected to apple car play. Never had issues with Waze or google maps . Disappointed as I really wanted an alternative to what I use right now..Version: 2.5

TerribleWhat were you thinking? Previously you could download multiple maps and only search in the selected map. Now all maps you download are searched. 15 seconds to get a result for a near me search and 60 seconds for whole of map. How is this better?.Version: 2.0

Pretty good, but…I’ve recently switched over to using this app through CarPlay in my car - prior to this I’ve used a TomTom SatNav and have been very happy with it. My last device stopped working a couple of months ago and customer service suggested several things to get it working but to no avail, so have had to download this app instead. I was going to purchase another SatNav but I understand TomTom don’t service Australia any longer, and I can only purchase one online. What is really annoying is not being able to add voices anymore - I had John Cleese on my SatNav Go 520 (which was a chargeable addition) but I can’t have his voice transferred to this app - it was successfully transferred from my second SatNav to my latest device, so why not this app too?.Version: 3.7.3

Good but still room for improvement for truckers! It’s a really good navigation tool, with nearly everything you need. Clear precise instructions and information, display is very friendly and good on the eye. As a truck driver using the truck version it just isn’t good enough, with the ever changing environmental zones, low emissions areas that are constantly popping up in the U.K. and even more so in Europe it’s essential as a truck driver to be able to know where you can and can’t go to avoid charges and fines. These zones need to be added to make this the go to app for navigation, it also requires Euro capabilities of your truck and if you are compliant or not. I really wanted to use this and get rid of my current sat nav appliance but until this is added I will put my money into an upgraded appliance instead. Shame as it really is a good navigation app..Version: 3.8.3

Can’t even use itIt takes forever to download BC map. I have a 1G wifi and it will take more than 10 minutes just to download the map without even allowing me to skip the process. This company should be dead long time ago and now they are developing this subpar product. Such a joke..Version: 3.8

Vehicle presets & Company accountsOn the 7 day free trial and so far so good! However what I would appreciate is vehicle presets. I driver a number of different vehicles each with different dimensions and weights so it would be a lot easier if I could create a preset for each vehicle so I do not have to keep entering them each morning which although very simple is time consuming which isn’t helpful in my days work when I don’t have a lot of free time to be wasting, I would also be interested in a company account so that all my drivers can use the app and not have to fork out the £80 odd each which is not something they are up for, I understand that a company account will come with an additional charge but I believe it would be very beneficial especially if there are vehicle presets as this would make it very simple for the drivers and save them from google maps trying to send them down unsuitable side roads. I understand at the moment you can share your account through apple family and friends and I’m not entirely sure how this works but some of my drivers are not on apple phones so this would not work anyway..Version: 3.8.3

Step backwardsI’ve been a Tomtom fan for many years. This app has been disappointing and is a step backwards. After using it for many weeks its no longer my primary navigation aide. I won’t be renewing my subscription as there are many other apps offering a better experience than this - in fact I’ll be deleting it..Version: 1.10.1

Bring back original Tom Tom appI loved the old Tom Tom app didn’t mind the fact that at over $100 it was the single most expensive app I ever bought. And I still had to subscribe for traffic updates each year. This free upgrade was a huge disappointment with the subscription model However it is a huge let down in the interface and every aspect. My only condolence was that I still had he old app. Now it seems they are no longer going to update it so that investment is gone. Now google maps does offline maps so I have fully converted..Version: 1.9.1

The user experience is not as expected! The app doesn’t serve It's purpose how it can be used! It's tough to navigate through the app, the user experience is poor. It doesn’t have all the address on it like google map. typography colors icons all are outdated. It's definitely needs a redesign guys work on it!.Version: 3.7.3

No longer allows family sharing:( unlike previous versions and subscriptions this no longer allows family sharing. Big thumbs down!.Version: 2.3

Lack of flexibilityHaving owned numerous Tom Tom GPS units through the years, the new format has some good features, like the route bar and it’s traffic warnings. The old products had far mor flexibility and features. Colour selection for better visibility on motorcycles where sun and reflection is a constant is highly limited and sometimes practically non visible. The speed camera button will only work once in every 10 tries. So much for assisting other travellers. Quick selection buttons disappeared with the new button and only “home” and “work” still exist. The GPS is slow to the point of being irritating..Version: 3.1

Incorrect road closures round M6 J17UPDATE post developer response: The exact location is given below (M6 J17 Old Mill Road roundabout, both old and new all approaches including M6 slips) and I’ve reported this at least 6 times via MapShare with no success (other than corrections that break again a few weeks later) - this closure is NOT evident on MapShare anyway or on MyDrive, only on the iPhone app which adds to the frustration and why I’m reporting it here!! The app developers need to investigate why this only causes issues on the app!! iPhone map updates STILL show this entire area as closed (having corrected, then broken again, then corrected and broken again) and therefore causes routing chaos - PLEASE FIX IT AND KEEP IT FIXED, or I will have to start using a different satnav that will route properly!!! This works for a few weeks before the whole area (west side of M6 J17 Old Mill Road roundabout) is declared closed again and routes via back roads unnecessarily for several more weeks before fixing again. As this is my local area, every route is wrong and I have no idea whether there is traffic or not, please sort it out (the new roundabout is probably years away from completion and could be deleted to avoid this problem). It’s driving me mad!.Version: 3.0.1

Address searches need a lot of improvementUsed this app for many years now. Pretty reliable navigation but looking up places in the search can be quite laborious. It almost never understands a full address [when copied and pasted] and sometimes postcodes won’t bring up places either. I’ve sometimes used google maps instead when I’m pushed for time; once having gone past a speed camera a whole 4mph over the limit, having been used to the alerts on the TomTom App, and receiving a penalty. Also, an alert when you’re about to leave one set of maps would be useful since the maps have been broken up into separate downloads and I’ve sometimes left them without knowing, ending up unable to download the large file and without navigation..Version: 2.7.2

Serena still can’t pronounce names correctlyI’ve been using TomTom devices for many years and love the navigation abilities but why can’t TomTom fix Serena so that she can pronounce names properly. I (and others) have raised this as a problem numerous times and having just updated my phone have reinstalled the TomTom app hoping she would no longer have issues with names containing an R but no such luck. Come on TomTom get it sorted otherwise I won’t be renewing my subscription. I really can’t put up with it! …. Response from TomTom is to use ‘Samantha’. I’m sorry, but why should an American accent be able to pronounce words with ‘r’ in them better than an English accent? There never used to be an issue until an update ruined it. Surely you should have tested the update before releasing it and causing the issue which you seem unable to fix..Version: 3.1

Can’t contact support to ask so asking here insteadI tried the link but that was for products when I tried to ask a question to the bit about the app I didn’t get far please get rid of bits they are too specific. My question relates to cost and functionality I just bought a 6.4m fiat ducato campervan with CarPlay, from my experience with my lorry TomTom Truck I fully get it. What I would like to know to know which vehicle type setting I would need to choose to get it to be like car speed limits for a campervan but also except the length width height and weight information to provide routes based on this info and dimensions I can safely drive along to get to my destination and what that subscription would cost. I think I’d have to pay the £80 yearly subscription which to me is bad considering it’s a campervan and not in regular use but there isn’t a lot of products out there that can provide correct route and rather than use apple or google maps or Waze etc I would prefer TomTom but would only expect to pay £20 yearly subscription which considering I already have a TomTom truck satnav it actually makes more sense for me to use that but would pay the £20 for ease if you and to be integrated into my vehicle system with CarPlay. Hoping my assumptions are wrong or you can do some kind of deal of have a much cheaper app subscription version specifically for campervans maybe. Hope I can get a response from you and you can see now why then it is useless for some questions..Version: 3.8.1

Upgrade is a nightmareEven when you pay Apple $27 to upgrade to unlimited km, it doesn't upgrade you. I have the Apple receipt and have reloaded the app, and it has not gone through! The same happened last time. This is the last time I will be dicked around by this rubbish customer- service!!.Version: 1.8

Complete waste of moneyVery limited map in Canada. It has even no map for Kitchener-Waterloo..Version: 3.3.6

What on earth is up with this app?I downloaded this (on my IPhone) yesterday and although, I downloaded the US map, it only shows my state data (South Carolina) on the map display. I live in SC but I work in Georgia - it doesn’t register/show “any” streets for Georgia on the display. It syncs up, no problem, with my CarPlay but the display again, only shows SC info ONLY! I typed in my Georgia work address in the search bar but to no avail. Then, when I want to figure out how to make this thing work properly, I have to decipher through a bunch of different videos on how to get the whole US map on my phone?? Are you kidding me??? Shouldn’t that be an AUTOMATIC, when you download the app? Or a simple customer service toll-free number to help walk you through setting it up? (I’m somewhat tech savvy but apparently not a GENIUS like you all expect me to be to “figure it out on my own) I didn’t have this issue with Apple Maps or Google Maps! And you want to charge my $30 a year for this kinda crap??? I want a refund on this or some help on how to fix this problem!!!.Version: 3.8.2

Where is Street Name?It is coming up to renewal for me and I’m still waiting for the street/road name to be shown when using Apple CarPlay. When will you be including this feature? The street name is shown on the phone but not on the Apple CarPlay screen! Here in Queensland it is a $1161 fine and 4 demirit points for using or, even touching, a mobile phone while driving. Please immediately get your programmers to show in Apple CarPlay the street/road name on which one is travelling. Surely it doesn’t require rocket science to include this absolutely necessary feature. I have just purchased the TomTom Go Navigation app for 12 months. The MAJOR deficiency is that in Apple CarPlay the name of the street/road that one is travelling on is NOT displayed. However, it is displayed on the iPhone app. Why one but not the other? I will probably not renew the subscription in 12 months time unless I can see in CarPlay the name of the street next to the speed limit sign and my current speed. Why can the TomTom programmers have these latter two items displayed but not the name of the street/road I am driving on? I consider the display of the street name to be an ABSOLUTE ESSENTIAL in CarPlay..Version: 3.8.3

Missing most of OntarioI live in Kingston Ontario, a city of over 130,000 people that doesn’t exist in TomTom’s Ontario Canada map. I even installed it twice to make sure I hadn’t done something wrong..Version: 3.7.1

Not sure with update.I used a Tom Tom one for years. Then they stopped supporting it online. That baffles me as it’s an actual product you pay for and at the time says nothing about right to withdraw support. I thought I’d download this app because I liked the Tom Tom platform but didn’t open it. Just deleted it and shall find another. Reading through the terms I’m not sure if just downloading it, even though I haven’t opened it will mean I’m still obligated in any way so perhaps someone can advise please. I read another applications GPS terms and it’s actually says once you’ve signed up you can not cancel. How’s it that even possible ? So if someone from support can just re assure me that I haven’t signed up for any trial or payment just by downloading and deleting the app I’d appreciate it. Update So, I think I made it clear I just opened open the app and didn’t say yes to anything, trial or otherwise. question again is do you class downloading and opening the app as agreeing to trail? Or, do you have to sign up? Apparently they opened my eyes to another thing, as once you actually agreed to the program and pay for it you can not cancel within that first year under any circumstances. Odd but many seem to be doing this. Buyer beware..Version: 2.5

ScamI used to own the tomtom app in 2008 , paid 69:99 on app store. Eventually it stopped working , I now needed to subscribe! Bye bye tomtom!.Version: 3.2.2

Fraudulent use of credit cardLet the buyer beware! I used to be a lifeline TomTom customer until they recently started their fraudulent practices of abusing stored credit card details to subscribe customers to services they never subscribed to. In my case they took a once off purchase of 12 months of speed camera updates and then converted it to a recurring monthly subscription without my authorisation. This despite the terms of purchase not mentioning any conversion to a subscription. Then they refused to refund me saying I had benefited from this even though I had not connected my device up until the day I contested the transaction. I eventually found an email they sent me where they said they had decided to “upgrade me” to a subscription so I would never be out of date, proving the point of me never having agreed to this in the first place. Bunch of crooks. Never again is this company getting a cent from me as being able to trust a company with my credit card details is a must..Version: 2.5

Not to be trusted. You need to use this app either with local knowledge or check your route with a paper map/ street directory before the journey. I find it often tries to take you via some side road off the main highway. Some of these roads are far too narrow for caravans and or larger trailers and much much slower than highways. I have checked the ridiculous route this app tried to take me with WAZE and Google maps and they didn’t take me on the same roads. I’m the first to admit WAZE, Apple Maps and GMaps often take us on stupid journeys but they are free and at $30 a year subscription I’m afraid I won’t be renewing this one..Version: 3.5

Expensive recurring subscriptionsYour pricing and subscription model is too expensive. Free alternatives such as Google maps are awesome - makes it hard to justify signing up to your recurring subscriptions. I used TomTom all the time, it was my first choice navigation app, but can no longer see the value in continuously paying for it. There are very features that Google Maps does not offer compared with TomTom. Plus, Google Maps continues to regularly update its features ... for free. You are in danger of becoming the next Kodak or video rental store!.Version: 2.0.1

Tom Tom sometimes goTomTom used to be the best navigation app going. Maps for life, regular updates, the first app to use lane and turn image assistance. Then they decided to rent you the app and not support their old app. The new subscription app worked pretty well at the start, but regional roads in Queensland are hopelessly inaccurate. Roads that have not changed in 100 years are fine, but road works, speed limit changes and new roads from the last 3-10 years just don’t seem to be updated. Add to that every time iOS gets an update or your subscription ends, once you pay your subscription you have to download all the maps again. I had 2 years of subscription, it was supposed to auto renew. I couldn’t figure out why no addresses would show up unless I was already in the suburb. I have since got another year of subscription. In the last 12 months every time I go to use the app, it’s useless and I have to download the maps again, hardly time saving if you have to wait 15 minutes before you can search for the address. I won’t be paying the next subscription. As I said at the start, TomTom used to be the best, look elsewhere these days Lloyd.Version: 2.3.1

Not as good as expectedIt works ok and it has some nice features like displaying speed limits, speed cameras and offline maps (although it somtimes can’t fine a place when you search and just says loading even though the maps are offline) but it’s current road closures/traffic updates are always out of date or it just misses when there’s a closed road. Rerouting is no way near good enough either and takes forever to lock onto a new option, instead it just keeps telling you to make a u turn. It’s pronunciation is not very good either, this doesn’t bother me but it could be annoying to some. Fifty seems to be a word that it can’t say correctly. The free alternatives overall are better and smarter although lacking more advanced features..Version: 3.2.1

Not like the original TomTomPurchased for trip to Iceland. Couldn’t find the Hilton Hotel in Reykjavik. I put in the name of a famous waterfall and it returned three hits. The descriptions were in Icelandic which I can’t read and the wrong choice would have sent me an hour out of my way and taken me to the wrong side of the falls. There were several addresses it couldn’t find as well. I finally gave up and used Apple Maps which worked fine except for one time when there was no service. Fortunately TomTom worked that time. Why they think descriptions in Icelandic are a good idea is a mystery. In need of a major improvement.Version: 2.7.1

Ok, but has flawsUsed in LA for a week, at times had problems with getting an accurate GPS signal which would made me miss a off-ramp on two occasions. Also be warned that using toll roads is on by default which could lead to some very expensive fines if you don’t realise this until too late (as in my case with the Fastrax lanes in LA), I don’t believe I saw any warnings but if there were they weren’t prominent enough to be seen..Version: 2.0.1

Why do I have to download the maps?I downloaded TomTom for the free trial. I already know that I am not going to like it because I’ll have to download the entire United States in order to find destinations. I did a couple searches without downloading maps and the navigation couldn’t find the address. I thought this service was premium given the subscription price. Why use a paid app when there are so many free ones that have simple easy to use interfaces without having to download the maps. I can see where the feature would be handy in some states but it takes up too much room to download all 48 States. I will finish the free trial and probably stick to Google, Waze, Apple Maps..Version: 3.2.2

OkayI once owned a version of the Tom Tom navigation app years ago and it was great. It seems to have regressed with current app, the GO version, IMO. One is that there is no indication of what road you are currently on. Another is that the directions for a nearby toll road are strange. The way points are apparently mostly toll booths where you are instructed to keep left then you start over again. But the main problem is that it doesn’t tell me how far to my next turn or exit which is all I really care about. Other issues I reported in a previous review have been fixed so I appreciate that..Version: 3.2.1

IPhone X Optimisation needed pleasePlease optimise for Iphone X.Version: 1.9.2

Now brokenUPDATE: v2.6.1 the app is now freezing whilst being used with CarPlay - the screen freezes and no directions given. Can only be fixed by force closing the app on the phone which requires the driver to pull over so the phone can be legally used - not always possible to quickly find somewhere to do this. [ORIGINAL] I will confess to be being a long term fan of TomTom and have used a physical device for many years. As I now have an Apple CarPlay enables vehicle I have moved over to the iOS version instead. Good points: the same easy to use TomTom route planning and turn by turn instructions. Areas for improvement: * the route planning doesn’t seem to search as far along the route as physical devices. If i compare routes etc to my physical device, this shows traffic issues further down the route that the iOS version doesn’t - i presume it will pick these up as i get closer. * CarPlay interface. This is a major weakness at the moment and needs urgently addressing - whilst apple may apply some restrictions, alternatives such as waze have CarPlay features that TomTom lacks. Most important is the lack of route bar information. Even if the route bar cant be displayed, the lack of information about upcoming delays is a major problem. Currently i have to change the display to the overall route and then zoom in too see if delays are upcoming. I note that TomTom have been promising to address this issue although that seems to have been the case for the last two years!.Version: 2.6.1

Out of date maps and kills my phone batteryI tried this for about 2 weeks and kept finding my iPhone battery getting badly depleted due to background use of this app. I also found that the maps in my area of NZ were badly out of date, missing roads and speed limits were out of date by 2 years. So I have had to uninstall it as it is unusable for me..Version: 3.2.2

ScamThis app will rip off your money. They say it has a trial period in the beginning but they charged me 30 dollars anyway. I didn’t like the app and stopped using it but they took the money anyway. I did not agree to pay ! Such a rip off. Save yourself and don’t even click on it. I will file a complaint with Apple’s store.Version: 3.2.2

Not goodThis is probably the worst GPS app that I’ve used, I normally don’t bother to write any reviews, but this app is so bad I felt I had to..Version: 3.8.2

SubscriptionI am tired of subscriptions especially if they are tied to fees. I would of loved to try out Tom Tom (I was one of the first back in the day) but the whole thing about a trial period and then a small monthly fee sent red flags up for me. I had too many monthly subscriptions that I seldom used and don’t want to get back into that habit. Why would I buy a subscription when there are so many for free that work perfectly fine. The only reason that I’m writing a non review is to let the developers know why I don’t want to try their product. I am turning subscriptions off not on. I want to own not rent. Hope this helps to understand where some people are coming from. Maybe one day I’ll try it but until then keep working on it..Version: 3.1.3

This is now a Trash appCompared to the shine it had in the original version, this app has now turned out to a trash app. Looks like the developers have lost their way in the wilderness and they themselves need a navigation app to get them back on track. For those users who still have access to the original app, please continue using it or as long as you can. Fortunately, the old app still works on iOS 14 but it might die if the developers don’t revive it with updates and new map data..Version: 2.7.2

Too hardI’ve been trying to change maps on my iOS TomTom GO for two hours now, and I’m getting nowhere. It doesn’t have to be this hard, surely?.Version: 3.1.5

Too many bugs.Impossible to upgrade subscription to family plan. Reports “Item is being modified, try again later” but days or weeks later same response. Not possible to contact support via the app as it always times out. Not possible to report a problem via App Store as it reports I don’t have the Product! App Store shows I do and each year subscription fee is taken..Version: 3.3.6

A Favourite That ChangedI was the one of the original TomTom users. I paid $80+ for the original app and it was worth it back then. The original colour scheme was wonderful, I wish you kept that or offered to us as a theme. Roads were bigger as well on the map, it was easy to see at a glance. Don’t fix what isn’t broken. Having bought multiple standalone TomTom GPS units and loving what you offered as a company has come to an end. You really should give the old users like us who bought the unlimited app the access to this new app without having to pay a subscription for it..Version: 2.3.1

Truck GPS a lot of issuesI drive a tractor trailer, I mainly use trucker path but decided to try the truck GPS out. This GPS needs a lot of work and it really screwed me. Luckily nothing happened but it brought me down a truck restricted area and it took me a half hour to get backed up into traffic with assistance of others. I still gave it a shot in my car after that incident using it as a truck GPS and it still was bringing me down truck restricted roads. I paid for a month but it’s not worth it if it’s going to cause possible DOT violations and accidents. Please use with extreme caution..Version: 3.8.1

Really poor nav systemI’m really disappointed in this app. There are some good aspects but they do not offset the excessive cost. First, I frequently pull a travel trailer so that actually results in a more positive review. Pros: 1 off line maps are a real plus 2 ability to set vehicle dimensions are a great help 3 actually stores customized routes and doesn’t change the routing Cons: 1) user interface is definitely unfriendly. VERY DIFFICULT to customize routes. Cannot shape routes at all so have to add a waypoint - which can cause serious problems. 2) Absolutely no lane information. In fact little information about an upcoming turn (see below) 3) Frequently indicates a slight curve when it is a hard turn, making figuring out the correct lane nearly impossible 4) can’t seem to use GPS coordinates instead on a street address 5) speed limit indications frequently inaccurate Overall, except for the truck routing feature, definitely not worth the cost..Version: 3.8.4

Just tried IOS version in Australia - disappointingJust installed trial version on my phone for navigation via CarPlay. Absolute fail. App works but: - speed limit on major freeway for first 25 minutes of my journey was completely wrong! Indicated 100 when posted speed limit is 80!! In a major city on a major road 🤷‍♂️. How could one trust this in an area where one is not familiar with speed limit changes? - No ability on app to report error - Speed cameras are consistently reported 40 meters further on than they actually are on that same major road (trip between Melbourne east and Geelong) - turn notifications 45km from intersection whilst correct are just annoying, but bearable. I was looking for a reliable alternative when out of cell/mobile coverage as I currently use Waze extensively. Regret the app failed a reasonable persons test I’m sad to see. Trial cancelled..Version: 3.2.1

Subscription?Updated- The team was quick enough to reply and give me a free trial before I subscribe. Thank you(Previous comment- Thanks for not letting me try without subscribing. I will forever stick with free Google/ Apple maps).Version: 3.8.1

Used for 15 years love but few shortfallsIt’s a great gps but after almost 15 years can’t believe the following not addressed. 1) No option to auto update, it prompts you for a 10mb to a larger map update if you want on cellular. Honestly, this feature is from two decades ago, give people the option to auto update because it’s always out of date due to these forced manual updates. 2) I loved the original version, you could customise sounds to speed cameras, speed limit etc. So sad this feature was dropped. Overall it’s a solid gps but rarely updated with new features, about every 18 mos minor updates and few annoying items go ignored for over 10 years..Version: 3.7.1

Unacceptable lagI’d really like to give this App a better rating as it looks good and has an easy to use interface. Unfortunately the unacceptable lag renders it useless when travelling along roads with numerous turn offs. All other navigation apps I have used with my iPhone 7 connected to my Honda Jazz Crosstar using CarPlay do not show this effect. Looks like this has been a problem for some users for quite a while, but as yet unresolved. Had hoped that the most recent update might fix it, but it didn’t. My trial subscription is about to come to an end so I guess I’ll never know if it does get fixed as it’s certainly not worth me subscribing until it does. Advised to reinstall and keep open on phone. Also rebooted phone. Made no difference - track on phone mirrors that on CarPlay. The lag amounts to about 5 seconds when travelling along straight road at 50mph so is to miss turnings close together. Very disappointed. No problems with accuracy using Google or Apple Maps. UPDATE : Have installed on my new iPhone 13 - still has horrible lag. No idea why this doesn’t work while I have no problems with other navigation Apps. I give up!.Version: 2.8.3

I wish tomtom was better than waze!Tomtom is just not on the level of waze maps. Probably because the traffic is not as live and there aren’t as many users using tomtom as their are waze. I hate how you have to download the maps. I don’t have to do that on waze, google maps, or Apple Maps. Tomtom needs to do more to try to be #1. If tomtom wants to be the best maps they have to get a ahead. And to do that probably means creating new mapping technology before other mapping companies do. Good navigation but like I said I hate to have to download the maps. That takes up a lot of my phones storage!.Version: 2.3.1

Not all cameras show upI like using this app as it replaced my old TomTom. I pay for the subscription and get the camera updates but it still is not good enough. Most cameras that I know by memory are simply not there which was not the case in a regular TomTom. Especially the ones in London which are 20mph. There are a lot of them now and they just simply not show up. Mobile cameras don’t come up either as they do on a regular TomTom. I feel like they don’t share the same info between the app and a device. Makes driving a bit unsure sometimes and over the last year I lost confidence to be honest. Hopefully this can be fixed with a simple update. P.S it would be a nice feature to change colours of your “arrow” as on the TomTom device..Version: 3.0

Bad design flaw. Highway names instead of numbers. City names instead of cardinal points.TomTom uses the historical name of the highway instead of the number descriptor. For example TransCanada highway, instead of highway 40. This is inconsistent with all real life signage. Also, instead of using simple simple cardinal signs, highway 40 east, as indicated by the sign, it will use a random city eastbound, where I get tested on my geographical knowledge of the area when I am trying to make that split decision of which ramp to take. Why not keep it simple? Use highway numbers and use cardinal points! Who’s idiotic design idea was this? Also when I am driving the bubble showing the distance to my next way point should always show the next exit number or highway or intersection! Why show just a distance that doesn’t tell me what I need to look for until I get really close? Simple fixes, but in the meantime unusable software. Hard to understand these design choices..Version: 3.2

What have they done to the voices!Update to developer answers There isn’t a setting on the iPhone : settings:maps&display I have always subscribe to TomTom and use TomTom all my life, and I have no idea what they have done to the voices but the old British female voice and you actually listen to her, but all the voices they have now are just wet. If you don’t take any notice of them and then you miss your junctions because they’re asking you to nicely. Also I really hate that you can only have 3-D view which just doesn’t work for junctions or 2-D view facing north, whatever happened to 2-D view with the direction you were travelling. When you in a car all you want to see is where to go you don’t need all these fancy 3-D rubbish that everyone is pushing on you, you shouldn’t be looking at the screen in that much detail in the first place. It is a real shame as I’ve always loved TomTom. I have now cancelled my subscription.Version: 2.7.2
