80 Days for Negative User Reviews

Just OKBit of a letdown really. Nice graphics and unique story, but I completed it just the second time I played, and it seems the best way to win is to ignore other characters as much as possible. All in all, disappointing..Version: 1.24

So much potential, just not very enjoyableThe timer ticks too fast, even when looking at routes which to be honest was quite annoying - causing you to go into the next day without 'resting'. I found myself more frustrated with this element of the game than anything else, as it truly limits the chance to explore the content of the game (which I know has some interesting mini-stories) I think there should have been a lot more to do during the journeys between cities, as difficult as that may be to implement. Inkle has incorporated this every now and then, but usually this causes the players journey to be extended dramatically making it unlikely to hit the target 80 days. Unfortunately these seem to be the most in-depth and enjoyable parts of the game, making me question the wisdom of how the timer system was implemented. I'm gonna do a re-run of the Sorcery! Games and hope for a quick release on Sorcery! 4..Version: 1.2.1

Wish I could rate higherFinally a game that is not about blowing up my adversaries. A game that is not mindless tapping. I wish I could give it five stars. If you play it more than twice (and I doubt many will win the first 2 times) you'll understand why. Each time the game is restarted there is the drawn out intro screen graphics with a "Where in the World is Carmen San Diego" feel. The every choice leads to a text filled screen and more waiting. The first time is ok. The second, not so bad. But when you can repeat the script before it appears just to get to the place in the game where you want to take a different direction than previous efforts it's just too boring..Version: 1.25

Boring. Too much to readIf you like to read a lot for gaming then you might like this game. Truthfully I don't understand how to play this game and there are no instructions either. It's obviously not an intuitive game. I regret buying it.Version: 1.25

MehGood game if you like to read a lot but not to much fun.Version: 1.25

Has bugs at the most irritating times and pretty dull !!Nice concept, lazy dull execution, and found myself occasionally stuck not being able to travel or access things - I just gave up..Version: 1.27

Unfortunately racistGame itself is decent but unnecessarily refers to the darkness of skin tones of some people along the journey across the world. Not sure how references to skin tone (especially the darkness of it) contributes to game play other than to ‘other’ particular groups of people and essentially belittle their existence down to their skin colour. Not in a single place is there a similar reference to the whiteness of anyone’s skin tone..Version: 1.27

8 days enough. VelveteenA costly app because it's simply a matter of figuring out which route to take to get you home in 80 days. The conversations are far too long, and after a few times, become boring. Not my best game, and I can't recommend it..Version: 1.1.1

No sound options? Can't use it.I'm sure I would enjoy your game and the 5 minutes I tried it were good enough, but I hate that I paid for this game that does something so violently anti-consumer by not letting you play your own music or indeed giving you any control over sound. This feels like a perfect commute game, but I am forced to listen to the empty background sounds of the game instead of my music library? I'm sorry I spent a cent on this. I'm amazed any competent developer launched a product with such a glaring fault. Literally nothing else about the game matters when such a basic option is missing..Version: 1.2.1

New update keeps crashingHi the new update on iPhone X whenever I press the button to sleep at a hotel keeps crashing ...Version: 1.26

No audio controlVery innovative game that's a lot of fun. That said, you'd think that this is a perfect game for listening to your own music while playing. I hate when apps enforce their own music and actually all sound in this case. I only play this game by lowering phone volume a lot or muting completely. Please give some audio control to your players. Fix this and easily 5star game..Version: 1.2.1

Too easyThis game was too easy to complete..Version: 1.27

Been playing this game for years, but it’s resolution does not work well on new iPhonesThis is without a doubt the best mobile game available, and in general one of the best games I’ve played. However, the developers really need to update its display for new iPhones — vital information, such as Foggs HP — are cut off. Please update!.Version: 1.27

Doesn’t work on iPadI can’t actually review the game as I bought this game to play on my iPad (iPad Pro running iOS 13.4.1)but it’s not working. It does the credits then just shows a black screen with stars/points on. I’ve tried redownloading it multiple times but it’s still not working. Very disappointed. Hopefully this will get fixed soon otherwise I’ve wasted £5..Version: 1.27

Needs an update. This game is unplayable on any of the new iPhone 12. As there are cut off corners, which hides vital information..Version: 1.27

A whole lot of nothing! One of the most boring games ever. Graphics are so basic and the storyline is bland. The gameplay is pitiful. Nothing about this game is even close to good even though it’s based on one of the greatest stories ever written. You’ve been warned....save your money!.Version: 1.27

So-so...I quite enjoyed the one game I’ve played, and managed the journey in 74 days. Gameplay was about 2 hours. I didn’t really have to think too hard about the choices I had to make throughout the game - the game would have taken longer if I had. But now I’m not really interested in doing it again to see if I can complete it any quicker, so it will be deleted after this review..Version: 1.27

I love this game butThis game has so much replay value and I’ve owned it for years. Once in a while when I want to have another adventure I’ll spend a few hours being lost in the beautiful visual novel world. I’m only rating it 3 stars because sadly the sound is no longer working despite reinstalling the app. There’s no way to contact the developers about this either, and the sound is a big part of the magic of the game..Version: 1.27

Unable to see the heart indicatorAnd I cannot even edit for the app no not show full screen in settings. So I’m stuck in Pitcairn island unaware of how many heart points I had before I left. Please fix this. I’m using iPhone mini 13.Version: 1.27

Wonderful story, poor game.Had the game recommended to me by a friend who loves choose your own adventure books. Knowing I share his passion he invited me in the game world that 80 days uncurls. The story, as you trundle, sail, fly and flounder around the glob, is a triumph of story and choice. Words of dense description flow to create sentences and paragraphs that form a picture of steampunk 19th living that rivals any film or book in recent memory. But this is an app of 2 half’s. Where the story shines, the game shudders and spits posing more problems than possibilities. My main issue was the actual lack of choice when money ran out. And I promise you, your reserves will dry up. When the purse string are cut and you can’t afford a room for the night never mind a carriage for travel, you will be stuck. I expected a darker underbelly of a world to reveal itself. A world where crime would pay or you’d locked up to loose a couple of days. But no, instead you’re left waiting for the bank to cough up. Or resort to shine a few shoes. So instead of enjoying a grand adventure, the game falls into micro resource management. Instead of the game offering exciting alternatives such as falling to the dark side and pilfering the coffers of the locals, you’re left to wait. And wait. And wait. For all the choice you have normally, you actually have no choice when you run out of cash. So if you don’t like managing money, I’d consider leaving this game by the way side..Version: 1.27

Great, sound is annoyingThis game is great. But it keeps hijacking audio. I want to play it while listening to my music. Please provide a setting for that!.Version: 1.27

OkCerebral game and a globe might be handy. Bit of fun. You can learn some history and about cities while reading the odd bit of repetitive text. The 'conversations' are lame. Sometimes you pay several thousand pounds and get ripped off when you unexpectedly get off a train. Needs QA..Version: 1.27

Audio issuesFantastic game, but I can’t listen to music while playing the game 😪😪.Version: 1.27

Incredibly boringThere are very few games I give up unless giving them a real chance. This has so little enjoyment to offer, it could barely be called a game at all. Ugly to look at, clunky and unresponsive gameplay...I gave it two tries, waste of money..Version: 1.27

Wonderful game. If I was able to leave ParisIt really disappoints me to make this review as I was looking forward to playing the game based on Jules Verne’s novel but the game simply will not allow me to depart the city of Paris(After experimenting a few more times I discovered that the game will crash at the end of day 2)without crashing and exiting to the home screen. I have tried deleting and redownloading the app but nothing has provided any fix to the problem. This really seems like a great game that I would enjoy putting hours into but one glitch is ruining my experience. I would also like to make note that I am playing this on a new iPhone X..Version: 1.26

Decent play -- Horrible UIThis is an ok game marred by a ***horrible*** UI. It doesn't clearly confirm buying tickets, so you don't know if you have only planned a trip, purchased a ticket, or just negotiated the price down but haven't bought a ticket yet. If you try to embark thinking you have a ticket when you don't, it throws you into planning loops you can't get out of. Meanwhile, time ticks on and trips vanish as you try to figure out the stupid interface. And, since you can't save a game, you have to start ***all over*** from the very start if you screw up. Frustrating, inept UI design by someone more in love with minimalism than functionality. Don't waste your money on this game..Version: 1.25

Boring textsI think this game is laudable, and I wanted to love it more. The texts and the lingo very quickly begin to be tiresome, and the stories hard to follow. Moreover, they then help much if at all with the game. Btw, I eon the first time, and no plan to re-play it again. The game shows love and is well crafted, and most 5 stars are understandable of you like the text, which I did not..Version: 1.25

DisappointedSeemed promising, but I couldn’t be sure as the app always crashed on the 2nd day onwards to Paris. Early in the game and nothing to be done. Fix it please!.Version: 1.26

Crash out - can’t resumeHeyo - since the update when I resume on the ‘Noelani’ to Hawaii the app crashes without a chance to do anything else. I had just chosen to sit next to a Madame Someone. (I couldn’t find a place to submit a big report so thought this was better than nothing?).Version: 1.26

Game fails to loadGame fails to load on my iPad 4 after initial text.. restarted iPad, reinstalled the game, nothing works.. pls fix so I can give the game a proper rating.Version: 1.25

Good start bad finishLooks really engaging but since update it just crashes!!! Deleted it asked for refund... no response yet. Don't waste your money.Version: 1.26

The writers missed the point…This is definitely a beautifully designed game. That’s not an issue at all. The problem is in the choices that are given. In a choose your own adventure story, I should be responsible for making choices from situations that are presented to me, not for helping to develop the details of the story that’s going on around me. For example, this story would provide a situation in which you meet a girl on the train, and then you have to choose between whether she has a bored expression on her face, or is smirking at something (That’s not verbatim, I’m just making up an example). But that’s not a detail that should be left up to me - how am I to know what a character looks like? A good choose your own adventure story would provide me with the details, then give me the option of whether or not I want to approach this person, or how I want to approach them. There also needs to be some real consequences to bad choices. I haven’t had a situation yet where I’ve been killed or significantly set back because of a wrong choice. I’ve literally just clicked random options, and still done rather well. There’s a good idea here for sure, and the design and gameplay is beautifully done. The story line and options just needs to be improved.Version: 1.27

Not as good as I expectedThis game wasn't as good as I had expected after reading the reviews. I found it rather easy (finished in 57 days on my first attempt). And it felt like very little I did had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. The only materially important part felt like the buying and selling of items, but in the end I would essentially just buy everything and sell it when I could get a good price (although the system for managing bags, moving things around etc felt very clumsy). A lot of reading of text and picking outcomes that felt like they were having no impact. My character is now dependable... What does that mean in terms of gameplay? My relationship has improved... Where can I see the status of my relationship? What happens if it falls too far? Fogs health seemed comically easy to keep high. Overall I like the idea of a game following your trip around the world, but I think this one focused too much on writing a lot of content and not enough on good gameplay..Version: 1.0.2

Worst of Both worldsNot a good book if you're above 15. Not a good game at any age. For the life of me I can not understand the press coverage and praise. Super boring and repetitive. Static animations. Anyone would be better off with a proper book. (Or a proper game). If you re a fan of the genre, Device 6 is a successful attempt..Version: 1.27

InsultingPretty insulting that it shows the Iranians as Saudi Arabians, wearing Saudi desert gear..Version: 1.27

Not worth the hype.I feel like it should be amazing, and it starts VERY good, but i don’t know ... it just isn’t worth money, I think if this was $1.99 maybe I would rate it 4+ stars but I gotta compare it to other games from this price point and sadly it falls short, I played it, for bored and tired of reading the story after day 50. Wouldn’t play this again as 80 days is WAY to short of a play through maybe if it was a different game mode or something..Version: 1.27
