Espresso from The Economist for Positive User Reviews

Nice little news bitesDoes just what it says on the tin - 95% of the time. It’d be good if day editions were stored or saved locally by default, or at least give the option to do this for places where immobile connections aren’t great. Also some UI quirks and inconsistencies from time to time..Version: 1.6

Excellent perspectives, perfect size. Read it every day at lunch!Espresso gives me quick, detailed and thorough updates on the days news that I can read during a quick lunch. And the daily quote a highlight of my day!.Version: 2.9.4

EspressoApp is a bit flaky. It should open on the first page on a new day. It is lazy to fill it with stuff for more than one day..Version: 3.9.1

ExpressoThe putative offspring of the most well written weekly news magazine. Plump it up by including at least one pivotal article from its parent..Version: 1.5.16

Nice interface, easy to operate one handedNice little app for subscribers, has bite sized content, in an easy to operate format..Version: 1.0.32

Excellent Journalism !Brief news in an easy-to-use app is simply great. While enjoying your daily morning cup of coffee or espresso, you can quickly read up on interesting news and articles..Version: 1.5.16

Great content; limited app functionalityThe one star held back is on layaway pending modern streaming capabilities (cast, airplay, etc) aside from simple Bluetooth..Version: 2.11.0

CormacPerfectly sends an alarm just before I’m awake. I feel a lot of the time I am too busy to read the full paper so this is a perfect 10 min breakdown for me..Version: 1.5.9

Global news snack-sizeSuch a great way to get a handle on global news in the time it takes to drink a cuppa. What a great way to start the day..Version: 1.9.8

How to improveIt would enhance the expresso experience if the pages could be audio , like the weekly economist:).Version: 1.9.6

Great news bitesEspresso is a wonderful daily read. It won’t keep you informed by itself but the content it provides is great, the price is right and the ads aren’t the least bit intrusive..Version: 1.5.12

Great news app! Bit-size formatThis review was already written as a standard message from the app itself, but I am editing this initial statement just to confirm that it reflects my exact feelings about the app; SUPERB! Could not ask for a better news app that keeps me up to date with the most important financial and political news on a daily basis! Great job guys!.Version: 1.5.12

Short and sweetI like that this app gives a highlight of news for the day that I can read through in less than 5 min. It doesn’t have endless headlines and distractions, and if I’m interested in a topic I can always search for more about it on the main Economist app or NYT or wherever. This is a simple app that works well and doesn’t feel like it’s monetizing my attention.Version: 1.9.8

How see day before espresso ? Annoying don’t have functionalityAbove.Version: 3.20.0

The daily hit that improves you a bit.Insightful, global, yet quick to digest. The perfect complement to the daily news grind..Version: 1.5.5

Keeps me informed for minutes a dayA daily reading is less than 5 minutes and keeps me up to date on what’s happening around the world and in the news. Links to investigative stories do a good job of providing more information when needed. Between this, email updates, and special reports the economist is my most trusted source of news..Version: 1.5.14

A Great Way to Get Great NewsI've used the app since the outset of my economist subscription, and I can say assuredly that this is an excellent way for those in a rush or who just prefer a more condensed version of their news. If you have an economist subscription you should utilise it to its fullest potential and download the app..Version: 1.3.1

Great read, excellent formatPerfect start to my day to read a good selection of well written short updates around key events or issues in the world. Even better now with the Saturday version as well!.Version: 1.0.32

A+ app from an A+ publicationA pleasure to use. Perfect for people like me who can’t deal with the nonstop (and almost all US-related) media/political noise, but are still inherently interested in the world. Not a surprise, then, that with expert reporting and analysis from TE’s superb writing team, the app is as nicely designed and enjoyable to use as its content is to read..Version: 3.11.0

Strongly recommend to make the audio text availableEnjoy reading it cause it does save time.Version: 1.8.8

Boiled down to a scienceI love this side app, hooked along with the Economist issues, gives me a good quick brief in the mornings before I get down time to open my long form issue. Different versions of a great thing are always welcome. Shout out to the writers and editors, excellent journalism, editing, and writing work. A steady rock in the rough seas of news lately..Version: 1.5.9

Globally Equity MarketUpdates on Global Economics together with the political leadership News is better..Version: 1.5.9

Good, but expensiveThe tiny stories are well written, with good analysis packed into them, and they look at world affairs that are a little tricky to find on a normal news front page. But it's very expensive, £2.20 a month seems an awful lot for such a small amount of content..Version: 1.5.4

Just one flaw - otherwise perfectGreat product - you feel like you r in the newsroom. The problem is technical .. It s not convenient to read on iPad because it only displays in portrait mode... And Ipad Stands assume landscape The email version is better because I can read 'hands free' except the annoying promotion of the 'Portrait only' App as more convenient than the email even though it isn't. It would be great to have a highlight copy paste function for up to 3 words to Google items mentioned sometimes I want a family license to pay extra but not much more for my kids.Version: 1.9.8

My daily shot of espressoI use this app daily to get a quick brush up on the big news in the world. So far the stories have been very intriguing and well written. I highly recommend it to those looking for a fairly unbiased and high quality news source..Version: 1.5.9

Well curated contentThe Economist Espresso provides and extraordinarily well curated and concentrated hit of news first thing in the morning - reading a longer summary elsewhere and later often adds very little. The new version of the app is less tightly designed than the previous one and is less pleasing to my eye than the previous one..Version: 2.5

High quality appImpressed by the quality of the app and the writing style is ideal for early morning reading with the option to drill deeper into topics as they interest you.Version: 3.3.0

Great, just one problem. The app is great! I did not regret subscribing through the website. The only problem I’ve got is that when I try to open it, the app just crashes on me. This happens a few times and I don’t really know what to do about it. Other than that, this is a solid 10/10. Would definitely recommend..Version: 1.5.16

BrilliantLove the insights gained in just a few moments stolen to catch up on news each day..Version: 1.9.6

Time efficientI really miss reading my hard copy of the Economist. But being time short and regularly travelling, it’s great to get a daily briefing, and also to get via email, recommended articles from the weekly print version which I can read on line . Been reading the Economist one way or another since I was 17. Now 73 !!!.Version: 1.5.15

App SupportThere does not appear to be app support. The login function is not working.Version: 1.9.8

Beyond Brexit. What’s touching my fellow global citizens lives?Theresa May coined it “Citizen’s of nowhere”. Then Espresso is the caffeine antidote to this misguided label. We are all stakeholder citizens of this amazing planet which is subjugated by less than amazing human behaviour. Espresso tells me about the amazing and the less amazing from all corners of the Earth. Who’s telling me about what is going on in Brunei? That they’ve decided that Stoning gay people to death is an acceptable part of their justice system and an acceptable approach to human rights in this 21st century..Version: 1.6

Excellent App, but room for improvementThe app delivers on its goal of giving you a brief look into the world; however, the app could be even better if there was an option to expand upon the story you are currently reading. Also, it would be very nice if a notification popped up in the morning to facilitate your going into the app..Version: 1.5.7

Clean house listen to the EconomistSometimes I don’t have time to read the economist. I just listen to it now When I am walking or cleaning. Then I review it reading it it’s amazing how much I don’t hear when I reread it. The app is fast it is clean and it works well..Version: 2.14.0

My readingI love a quick incisive round up of the breaking news as well as the links. Then I can start on the morning paper, the daily Economist and then the weekly. There’s no time for my cycling, gardening and 101 other things I need to do! as well as those my wife needs me to do!!.Version: 2.14.0

The New Espresso, now with less Content! The new version of the Espresso no longer has the “Markets at a glance” page. This latest iteration has less content yet consumes more time to digest. Espresso? No, sadly it’s no longer the quick shot to get your day going..Version: 2.4.2

Great start to the dayThis app provides a fantastic intro to the day and I love reading through the morning’s article over a coffee. A great offering from this paper..Version: 1.5.15

Love the morning update - voice audio would be great thoughLoving the quick morning update but would be great if there was an audio version so I can listen in the car rather than having to read everything. Keep up the good work..Version: 1.5.9

No longer works on my iPhoneIn the past I read espresso every morning. Now the latest version is stuck on the preamble screen. Please correct, I need my daily news update..Version: 2.4.2

Great, but could be betterBite-sized morsels of news, although it should be delivered earlier in eastern North America. Minor bug: Have a look at a longer article on an iPhone Mini, I’m unable to scroll to the very bottom of the article..Version: 2.14.0

I like itA quick and easy way to get an overview of the main news. I use it to catch up in the morning when I didn't get the chance to watch/read the news the evening before. It could even be a bit longer. But I would like it even more if it had fewer publicity..Version: 1.5.4

Misleading subscription ratesThere are two subscription rates for this app promoted on the App Store. But only one of them( most expensive one) is available when the App is installed..Version: 2.15.0

Great news in a quick and concise formatI would recommend espresso to all - those with busy work/family lives with little spare time available and also individuals that want to be up to date with world events without being overwhelmed by quantity of content..Version: 1.0.32

Morning Expresso with a differenceExcellent updated app from The Economist in easily digestible form getting you the news you need at the start of your day wherever you are. Once again a brilliant component of the excellent Economist sub I’ve enjoyed over several decades. Keep up the great work..Version: 2.5

Relevant short interestingThe material in espresso is well pitched. Short and snappy items are headlined, and items of less interest can be easily skipped or ignored. It is now a key part of my morning updates..Version: 1.1.6

I love Espresso in the morningsAggregating the most important news in the world is no small thing to do, but The Economist has managed to do it. My only complain is that sometimes the exact same versions of the short articles make it to the The World this Week section of The Economist magazine, but other than that, great read in the morning..Version: 1.5.5

Brilliant News AppI have been a regular reader of the Economist magazine's Espresso app since its inception little over a year ago. It provides a daily summary of current events in the Economist magazine's understated style. If you like the reading the Economist magazine, then you will surely enjoy this app..Version: 1.3.13

All I Need to KnowI read both the Espresso and print versions of the Economist— although neither thoroughly. I love the crisp writing. The organization of both also makes it easy to choose what I want to read..Version: 1.9.8

All the news that's fit to flickThe only problem with the Economist magazine is that there's too much to get through every week: Espresso gives you just enough to stay ahead and be well informed, in a well designed format and a very fair price. Essential - it's pretty much the Goldilocks of intelligent news..Version: 1.1.4

IPadExpresso will not rotate to landscape format on my iPad. I have to tip my keyboard holder on its side. That would not seem to be a difficult fix to fix. Andy.Version: 1.9.8

Would recommendGreat app to read in the morning! I love it. I miss the videos that used to talk about the week’s special report or briefing though..Version: 1.9.6

EspressoWorks perfectly, provides a summary of world news each morning. The Saturday science supplement is a welcome addition..Version: 2.13.0

Needs ability to view previous daysIve been using espresso since it first came out and i love it. The new version is really visually pleasing and they did a great job structuring it. The only reason im not giving it 5 stars is cause the old version let you read previous days posts. Some days we all forget or are busy but i would still like to know what the news is from that day. Maybe im just not seeing where that feature is in the new version….Version: 2.4.2

Best brief ever.I’ve been keeping my monthly subscription and enjoying a daily read of the Espresso for years. In a world with too much information, the Espresso is an oasis of just the right amount of geopolitical news every morning. Thank you for your fab work guys! I also deeply appreciate that, when you make a factual mistake, you say “Sorry” the very next day. Respect! 🫡.Version: 3.20.0

The perfect morning ☕️The Economist Espresso has become a valuable part of my morning routine. It provides the same quality global reporting and commentary in flowing prose that I have come to expect from the Economist Group. It survey’s recent stories I should know. And it is especially effective at covering global news which others fail to cover. The most valuable part of the Espresso app is its brevity. The app allows me to read the news in a tight morning schedule without going down the online news rabbit hole. Like many, I strive to get the quote every morning as a reward for reading all six pages. Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.5.12

Great app, wish you could view in landscapeLove this app—stories are short and to the point. However, on my iPad, I can only view in portrait mode:(.Version: 1.9.6

Best news app ever! This is an incredible news app! I've never felt more motivated than now to keep up to date with the news. This app carefully selects a handful of stories each day to read and you can track your progress by checking the boxes next to each story. Easy to use, excellent journalism, up-to-date and objective news briefings. Highly recommended!!!.Version: 1.5.9

Minor UI suggestionUI suggestion: It would be helpful to be able to scroll down or sideways to reach the first article, rather than having to tap on the small heading. Good content..Version: 1.5.5

Forced to write a review!!I could not seem to avoid writing this review! Hopefully I can now return to the App and read my quote of the day. Hopefully the quote of the day has not been hijacked by a marketing executive. 😬.Version: 1.9.8

ReviewVery concise, an essential morning briefing. What smart people read..Version: 1.9.8

Loss of optionsWhile the new platform offers a better experience. I unfortunately, I now can’t access archived daily news..Version: 2.4.2

A little slow to load but otherwise goodThe content is relevant and delivered in just the right bite size. Unlike the main Economist app which has terrible user experience this one works well..Version: 1.5.9

Good appI love the economist and have been reading it for years. The espresso and regular app are both really good and easy to use..Version: 3.20.0

Last pane no longer accessibleAfter reading each page the final page that should show the daily quote won’t come up. The screen is read and says “6 read one to go!” As if all pages were not read ..Version: 1.8.10

It has become a habitIt's amazing how they present you with a collection of articles that involves politics, business, arts, social, sports and technology news, all in a simple way that helps you catch up with what's happening around the world daily in a matter of five minutes. Two thumbs up!.Version: 1.5.5

Pithy and ConciseAn enjoyable and topical daily read that takes no more than 5 minutes. Covers a wide range of current affairs, many of which are not generally covered by mainstream NZ media.Version: 1.1.6

Clean and to the point!Perfect app and content to keep you engaged with major events and points of interest when time is limited. I would definitely recommend!.Version: 1.5.5

Great reading and informativeThe economist gives a fantastic update and analysis of the world today. The app makes it easily accessible and the opportunity to download the voice files makes it easy to listen too when traveling..Version: 1.3.1

Best daily news summaryThis is one of the few apps that open on a daily basis every morning. The writing is exactly what you expect from the Economist, which is the only magazine I subscribe to. It's nice to have a short, concise summary of the news to read as I sip my morning coffee..Version: 1.5.15

EXPRESSO — The Perfect RefresherThe ECONOMIST’s EXPRESSO has allowed me to feel as IF on top of the world, during breakfast and removes any guilt of missing out on National Newspapers or Dailies. Because once read, you feel FULLY-BRIEFED about The leading Global events and Agendas Quite simply IMPERATIVE!!!... for anyone who thirst for What’s Going On Brilliant!!!..👍🏼.Version: 1.5.9

Short and sweetBut a little too financial for the generalist reader. The app itself is now much better - quicker to load and start. Could do with an easy way to change text size.Version: 1.9.8

What a relief! The American press has become so extreme and so shrill that it is often hard to listen to. Half is woke beyond reason and the other half finds fascism appealing. The Economist and Espresso are a breath of fresh air. Not only for their depth and breath of coverage but they’re calm headed analysis and delivery. I listen to the audio versions and prefer the British accents to the American but that’s hardly a dealbreaker..Version: 2.14.0

Although My English not perfect,I love improving it with high intelligent news.Although My English not perfect,I love improving it with high intelligent news.MandyHoo.Version: 3.19.0

More linksI would like to see more links to resources.Version: 1.5.16

Great app but..Quite Satisfied with it, but could we bring back the daily view of key market indices, exchange rates etc on the last news ? Thanks !.Version: 3.3.0

Morning coffeeGreat way to start the day..Version: 1.0.32

Easy and simple to useA simple app with not much functionality, but all easy to use. A nice simple, informative and succinct morning digest of some of the main news story. Super easy to use and nice to work into a morning routine..Version: 1.9.8

Best world news daily feed out there.Love this little news gem. Readily digestible news bites that pack a real punch. Get it..Version: 1.5.12

SharpTimely, relevant, quick and occasionally pithy..Version: 1.5.16

EspressoIt is appropriately named as I read it with my morning coffee. I particularly like the option you have for reading further into a subject if you want to. On the negative side I’m sorry you’ve disposed of the Financial Market summary - now I have to find it elsewhere! I also always skip the daily quizz . . Two wasted pages Thank you for an otherwise good summary of the daily news.Version: 3.9.0

Love itI love this app so much! It's the perfect accompaniment to my morning commute on the train, delivering bite-sized pieces of news so that I don't miss out on anything for the day. My only comment would be that it would be ideal if an audio version of each short article were offered so that I could listen to it while I'm driving..Version: 1.3.7

Concise, thoughtful global updatesUnique Economist style in bite-sized, snippets gets me up to date fast; covers wide range of topics..Version: 1.9.6

Adam review of economistAlways good content . I’m travelling a lot these days and enjoy your podcasts . Charlotte Howard has a very clear , nice voice to listen to ..Version: 2.15.0

Almost perfectI’ve enjoyed the Economist since the days when a print subscription was the only option, and Espresso was an excellent addition. Getting a quick daily snapshot from a trusted source is good value in my busy life. To make it more nearly perfect, let me go back a few days or a week so even when I was too busy to check in I can see what I missed. When this feature was available I used it several times a month. Now that I can only see the items from today, it feels like I should look for a news subscription that lets me see back issues. I’d rather that was Espresso..Version: 2.14.0

Short is beautifulThis is a great all-you-need-to-know-in-less-than-two-minutes news update..Version: 1.5.16

5 Star alwaysThe Economist articles are precise and accurate with good predictions..Version: 1.6

No index pageWhile after updating, the index page was removed. I found that page useful though.....Version: 1.7

Bite sized breakfast reading. Ads annoying thoughI love this little app. Seven minutes reading in the morning to give me just enough of what’s going on. It also warms me up for the full weekly addition when it drops. Squeezing in those few ads between such little content on a subscription based service does grate with me a little though..Version: 1.9.8

Espresso: wake up to world eventsReading the Economist Espresso is how I start my day. I find it covers a cross section of news stories around the world that I wouldn’t otherwise get from local media outlets. It also provides links to more in depth articles so I can follow my interests. Thanks for keeping me connected to the “World Stage” with Economist Espresso!.Version: 3.1.0

A quick cup of joeThe Economist is known for its in-depth articles and well researched quarterly briefings on important topics. How well does it provide a short take on the big stories of the day? Surprisingly well. There's not quite enough - so you can click through to the magazine for more - but it's presented with the Economist's trademark wit ('Out like Flynn'), and gives you the headline facts while you're waiting for the lift. Nicely done..Version: 1.3.1

ColloquialismsUsing the word ‘dear’ to describe something that is expensive is hardly appropriate for an international magazine..Version: 1.6

One recommendationOverall this app is good but there are times that links that flow on the the economist main page requires a login. As I have both the espresso app and then main economist app, I don't see why I have to keep logging into the website? This extra barrier will always stop me from reading the main article as I can't be bothered to log in each time.Version: 1.0.32

Great Daily BriefingReally enjoying this app. It gives you a good overview of the news without dragging you down in detail when you don't want it. I'd give it five stars if the dark mode setting reflected the system setting instead of needing to be changed manually..Version: 3.4.1

Hog quality great contentExcellent start to the day.Version: 1.6

Great way to start the dayIf all you have each day is a few minutes and you’re tired of the 24hrs r new cycle mostly regurgitating the same info all day everyday, the Espresso helps distill the cacophony of news each day into a single powerful update. While I enjoy reading the short clips each morning I have really come to look forward to the quote of the day. It has been my favorite part for all the years I’ve been reading the Espresso. I enjoy checking the stories each day in Espresso but I do miss the ability to jump back to a day I missed (especially for the quote). I wish there was an archive of quotes of the day!.Version: 2.14.0

Direct, well presented and conciseAs with all products from The Economist the Espresso is a well written and well presented review of the immediate stories of interest. I would recommend it to anyone who has a limited time to catch up with as much news possible..Version: 1.3.8

Just the right news in the right timeEspresso provides me just the right mix of world news updates and ideas to consider over my morning’s first coffee. Exactly what I was looking for in online briefing..Version: 1.9.8

Bite size brillianceThe Economist is rightly famed for its clear, concise use of the English language. The Espresso bulletin is the best possible example of how this hard-earned reputation was earned in practice. It is frankly amazing how much relevant information the editorial team manages to fit neatly into the short summaries of major developments around the world. Anyone ‘on the run’, as I am all too frequently, can get an extraordinarily comprehensive overview of world affairs and their potential impact on the markets (with latest exchange rates etc. all indicated) from these 8 brief pages..Version: 1.5.16

Almost there! The Espresso app remains amongst the best things to do to start a day, full of interesting things to digest and the app has come along way since it started. But still there is the problem of waiting for a perfect net connection to download the days data. Whereas every other news source allows “near enough is good enough”. Other than that - great!.Version: 1.5.6

Excellent news appAlthough naturally biased towards economics and finance, it is by far the best summary digest of informed events and commentary. Pithy and sharp comments sum up world events very accurately and concisely. Highly recommended for busy business people who wast to know what really drives world events..Version: 3.6.0

An essential part of my morningA brilliant App - summaries the key news and has become an essential part of my morning..Version: 1.9.8

Privacy Settings FixedPrivacy settings can now be changed and saved. An excellent app. First thing I read in the morning.Version: 3.19.1

Espresso is good but…Although still my favorite source of economic and political information, The Economist’s multiple offerings have now lost their individuality. There is too much duplication of articles and promotion of the main newspaper in newsletters. I don’t understand the promotional value of this strategy-has it worked; i.e., has The Economist’s market research shown increased subscriptions, holding other variables constant)?.Version: 2.14.0

Starting the day with a credible summary of news.As a passionate reader/subscriber of the Economist magazine for many years I appreciate the early morning Espresso. The quality of Espresso like the magazine make these my go to for global information..Version: 1.5.15

Keep it upReliable concise reporting. Keep them coming..Version: 1.5.14

Excellent News Pick-Me-Up SourceThe Economist Expresso provides shots of today’s news and information to help you get a good feel of what’s going on around the world. I can quickly read it and eventually dive further into a particular topic later. Great news source!.Version: 1.9.6

C ca pis c touteQuick, informative, objective and covers much.Version: 1.6

GoodEpic and cool.Version: 2.5

Dumbed downWhat happened to Money and Markets??? TheEspresso has been really dumbed down. Money and Markets was invaluable! Formerly the articles had more info and gravitas. The reading level has been lowered at least 4 grades. I have been a subscriber for over 30 years… very disappointing!.Version: 2.14.0

Good but please allow larger text!As you would expect from The Economist, the writing is excellent. The app itself is well designed and refreshingly simple. My only issue is that the largest text size you can select in settings is still rather small. It would be great to have the option to increase it further. Aside from that, this would be a five star app..Version: 1.8.9

Sometimes there are bugs. Overall greatSometimes a podcast won’t play or the regular espresso is yesterdays espresso. Sometimes the espresso just won’t play at all. But I’m general this app is great. Get all your daily news in audio format if you like and then if it is not enough, there is a thirty minute intelligence podcast to listen to that is pretty good that they put out every weekday. I listen to this while I brush my teeth in the morning..Version: 3.1.0

Much improvedIt has improved from the previous version. Text adjustment is great. However, I can’t seem to be able to access news from preceding days..Version: 2.6.0

Bring back prior days!If I miss a day, I can’t go back? We used to be able to go back to prior days. Can you please reinstate that feature?.Version: 3.9.1

Beyond the financial & EconomicsI found the constant articles daily, The Expresso is cuts to the meat; finance and economics, covering social issues and political issues which round the foundations of civil society. As all aspects converge on the Economics, the issue of scarcity & maximizing utility. All behavior, Social & Political are fundamentally occurring by Economic decisions! That’s what Expresso brings you in a daily brief!.Version: 1.5.9

Bite sized newsShort and to the point. Look forward to it every morning. Took advantage of the $12 for 12 weeks. I’m not sure if I’ll continue for $42 for 12 weeks. But I do really enjoy it..Version: 1.5.16

Just the shot of news you needInstead of focusing on opinion based, hastily researched screeching about current events, The Economist’s Espresso presents small doses of well developed analysis regarding news from the entire world. It’s all the broad scope of the weekly periodical, but doesn’t require the time equivalent of a second job to read. This is the antidote to the sound bite addicted, 24 hour news cycle..Version: 1.5.15

Bring back view of previous dayThe new app is good and I like new features, but I would suggest to bring back the possibility of viewing content from previous days. That was possible in previous versions, but now if you don’t read the day’s content you can not access it tomorrow. Bring that option back please!.Version: 2.4.1

InsightQuick and insightful analyses giving food for thought every day..Version: 1.5.12

Great quick summaryI also susbscribe to the weekly edition but especially with fast changing news, like Ukraine, wonderful to get a reliably honest coherent updated account from Espresso.Version: 2.5

Quick way to get interesting newsThe economist is my preferred news source because it covers the big stories but also those not often seen on mainstream sources. I like that I get both of those on the Espresso app as well as the trivia quiz question and my beloved quote of the day!.Version: 2.15.0

.…..Version: 2.14.0

Start your day with a world view!Less than five minutes and you will be brought up to speed as well as learn about a place you may not know well. With links to long form articles it is as indispensable as coffee each morning..Version: 1.9.7

SupplementaryThe articles are very broad with a narrow perspective on outcomes. This gives the reader a refreshing outlook on current world affairs. I particularly enjoy looking at the supplementary graphs, charts and infographics that complement the articles. Bravo to this app!.Version: 3.4.1

Good daily snapshot of recent newsFor those without much time, which seems to be most of us these days, Espresso is a good distillation of important stories. Keeping you up-to-date with the world, and occasionally ensuring you never run out of something to say at that awkward work do! Would be nice to have a website version to read from a computer though..Version: 1.5.12

Great content, no notificationsFor news readers seeking a global perspective, this app has excellent content. The layout is easy to read, and a widget is available to review top headlines at a glance. If there was a way to receive notifications for when the app was updated with unread stories, I would give it 5/5 stars. A good example of a news app with notifications is the Tech Top 10 by The Information..Version: 1.8.10

Why mostly quotes from men?I love the app but I’ve been using it for several years now and noticed that the majority of the quotes of the day are from various (mostly white) men. Some diversity would be nice!.Version: 1.9.8

A Nice Dose of CalmIn the morning, I tend to make my coffee, meditate for 10-15 minutes, then read Espresso before moving on to something else whilst sipping my bean-water. As part of my morning ritual, Espresso gives me a good boost in thinking while making me a laugh out loud every so often. It’s well-informed data and links to Economist articles furthers my understanding of what’s going on in the world today. Plus, as a sucker for a good quote, the last page of the report makes me happy. Overall, a great use of time every day..Version: 1.5.16

Much improved interface, unparalleled newsSeems like most of the kinks have been worked out of this app finally. I used to have an issue of it pulling up the last days news I had accessed before I had to force it forward to the current day. No longer a problem. Great copy and coverage. Love the quotes at the end. Please make an Apple Watch version!.Version: 1.5.16

Come up with an iPad versionThere, I’ve said it.Version: 1.5.16

No longer able to increase the speed of the audio versionAs always, this is only a review of the app. If I could rate the economist it would get a 6 out of 5. Unfortunately I noticed that the iPhone app no longer supports the 1.5x and 2x speed listening option. Please bring this back!.Version: 1.5.4

Essential ReadingI read Espresso every morning to get a quick and trusted sense of what is going on in the world. I also find the daily quotations that close out each issue to be thought provoking. I have lost count of the number of years I have read Espresso..Version: 3.19.1

Insightful and succinct news appInsightful and succinct news every morning with The Economist's analysis of the day's politics, finance, culture and current affairs. Plus an easy to read and navigate format with a bonus quote at the end! A morning ritual since Espresso came out over a year ago..Version: 1.0.32

A great morning perkThe app is simple - 6 stories: all short and concise. It is a great companion to the weekly Economist as it provides more timely insights on the days news. I also appreciate the dry humor and photo captions I look for from the Economist. It is nice to get a taste of what might be coming at week's end in the magazine..Version: 1.5.16

Need to fix bug with adsThe second story I read takes me to a Cazanoves ad, which I then can’t clear to read anything else without switching the phone off. Please fix. Please also consider selling a subscription which doesn’t have ads at all.Version: 1.5.5

Morning good readBrief and informative . I am still a subscriber since its inception ..Version: 1.0.32

There is no better app in the news marketFact, fact and incredible content, this is the app you need with your espresso shot in the morning. Thank you to all the economist team to relentlessly provide premium content..Version: 1.9.6

Love this app!I previously enjoyed and appreciated the Espresso app for a couple of years. The Economist (if I’m not mistaken) changed their tact for a while and you couldn’t have Espresso without having the full Economist subscription (which I can’t financially justify as a still-ongoing student, even with the discount). I sadly had to stop subscribing during that time. It’s really helpful that they’ve brought back a subscription for Espresso only and I’m a happy subscriber once again! There is no better way to quickly catch up on world news daily (spare Sundays)! So balanced and so informative. I hope they continue this app and membership option for many more years to come..Version: 3.19.1

UsefulA useful little app with a handful of stories just the right length for a morning briefing. It does have ads, even with a paid subscription, but not so many as to be annoying. One minor gripe: it takes control of the audio, stopping any music you have playing, usually when swiping from the first to second story. A fix for this would be much appreciated..Version: 1.5.9

Quality Journalism - Succinct start to your dayGreat app, journalism, and selection of topical events. What you would expect from the Economist..Version: 3.14.0

Always interestingWorth the download. The danger is that it may encourage you to subscribe to The Economist once you get used to reading well written and well researched articles..Version: 1.5.9

Excellent briefing on important news in the worldThe Economist Expresso to produces a briefing of international news from around the world, with an analytical, accurate , and reliable approach. For those with a desire for knowledge and a rational approach to world affairs, it’s an excellent publication. The weekly edition has more food for thought..Version: 3.20.0

Essential news summaryA concise, well written summary of global news. It still covers parts of the world that other news outlets abandoned years ago. On days where the domestic news agenda is driven by minutiae, This site can be very refreshing..Version: 3.9.1

A perfect shot to start the day. This app. Is the epitome of efficient delivery. Informative and to the point, with unobtrusive links to expository material, not a word is wasted. To top it off, each instalment includes a timely quote of the day. Perfect..Version: 1.5.15

Stops me being a dummy mummyHigh quality news that I can find the time for. 3 kids under 3, I can still feed my brain. Thanks Economist!.Version: 1.5.5

Good daily updateWould have been better if the app started with the date of the news update. Sometimes it stays in previous day’s update..Version: 3.20.0

Small serving size, big flavourI find myself using this app far more than I expected, under all sorts of circumstances. The information is impeccably presented, and I’m downright impressed how big ideas can be compressed and packaged into such short entries. If that’s not a recommendation, I don’t know what is!.Version: 2.14.0

Good overview but can be a bit crypticCovers the main events. Quick to read.Version: 1.5.14

When you want a quick look at the news of the dayI read this first thing every morning. It’s a good gauge as to whether I want to read more in a full length newspaper and also useful when I’m short on time but want to briefly know the world news. I like that you can change the focus of the report to different parts of the world..Version: 1.5.12

All hail economistArticles are well researched and balanced with links to more in depth articles. A welcome respite from the news blather of the trump era. Kept me sane. And I love the quote of the day. Complaints. (1)Sometimes with breaking news the North American version publishes late. I read at breakfast. (2) I know your photos are copyrited , but occasionally I’d like to copy them to my photos, this is not straightforward on an iPhone. Keep up the good work..Version: 1.9.6

Great way to stay up to dateGreat stuff, love it, been using for a few years. The only thing missing is an ipad version 😬.Version: 1.9.2

Short and sweetThe skill of the economist is mirrored in the brevity of the articles on key issues of the day. The Saturday ventures away from the serious stuff (even when the Brexiteers are pushing May and the UK over a cliff, is a welcome diversion.Version: 1.5.16

Great way to start the dayGreat app to flick through while having breakfast and starting the day. Interesting stories from around the world in bite size form. Would recommend..Version: 1.5.9

Zippy and informativeThis is a well crafted app with the right balance of current affairs and in a digestible format. The writing is witty without being pretentious or condescending. The quote of the day is a nice touch and one to which I look forward in a Pavlovian fashion..Version: 1.9.6

Amazing way to start my dayBest way to start my day and get the most relevant global news. Enough details to understand what’s going on but short enough to spend only a few minutes every day with the quality that characterizes The Economist!.Version: 1.9.8

Ideological selectivityI enjoy the daily update on events around the world but I am getting disillusioned by your annoying, and ideologically driven selectivity. For example, in today’s edition you report on an attack on the US Capitol without mentioning his race (black) or his political affiliation (devotion to Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam). Such reticence would not have been on display if the attacker had been a member of the Proud Boys. It is well past time for The Economist to return to critically objective and balanced reporting of facts that has been so obviously lacking since July of 2015. David M. Rowe.Version: 1.9.8

A great second to the economist.I spend a lot of time reading the economist articles, and find them quite interesting and knowledge dense. Of course, sometimes I do not have the time to read my daily article, and this is where ‘espresso’ saves my time. The articles presented in the espresso version of the economist are, knowledge dense and short. They have made my daily intake of news a lot easier and a lot faster..Version: 1.5.16

Written and audio optionsI like listening to the World in Brief while waking up in bed. The audio option is not updated frequently enough so I often have to listen to yesterday’s news even though the app written content has been updated. Also main articles on the app often do not have an audio option. If the FT can do it so can the Economist..Version: 2.14.0

Why did the currency and commodity page go away?Miss being able to see previous days, like the audio option. Many links to other economist related stories, helps also..Version: 2.7.0

News from previous days of the weekI liked it when in the old app i could switch and see the previous day’s news during the entire week.Version: 2.11.0

Sum & SubstanceEverything written is a punchy Clear summary with complexities boiled down to their sum and substance 👌.Version: 1.5.16

Love it; wish it would pre-load the articlesThis app is one of my favourite parts of my morning routine. It's also simple and to the point! One thing I wish for is for the content to always be fresh and pre-loaded *before* I open the app every day, so that I can access the content even on my underground commute where I don't have access to the internet..Version: 1.5.7

Short and SweetAlways a quick update on the day’s international news with a world perspective. First thing I read after emails..Version: 2.5

Great AppNews in brief around the world - great round up of what’s happening around the world without having to spend a whole bunch of time.Version: 2.10.0

Espresso a day keeps the mind awake! Short sharp - sometimes bitter sometimes sweet!!Enjoy the sharp, sometimes blunt, often humorous and thought provoking summaries each day!.Version: 1.5.14

Access to previous days’ news?Hello, I enjoy reading the Espresso. I just wish I could see how to access news for the previous few days, as I used to do in the prior version of the app. Thanks, and have a good day..Version: 2.15.0

The perfect morning newsOver a cup of actual espresso, this app proves a wonderfully short, well written, jam packed and often optimistic take on the world news. Links into the full economist app help give detail where needed. Excellent, rimless and hopefully very long lived journalism. Much needed in our age of social graph data powering malincentivised neural network misinformation engines..Version: 1.9.8

Good start to the dayConcise but engaging.Version: 1.5.0

Great way to start the morningI’ve always liked the economist because of its substantive articles, and getting a quick round up of the world news every morning really makes me feel like I’m keeping up with the important events that are going on..Version: 1.5.6

Quick, Clear, Succinct, UsefulIt is an app which u can quickly scan Highlight news everyday, also helps me to improve my reading and vocabulary. You shouldn’t miss it!.Version: 1.5.16

Concise informative newsA great summary of news for those without much time.Version: 1.0.32

Read it every day as does my son!Excellent way to start my day, but takes time away from reading the full magazine. A weekend version would make it even better. However, Saturday's is light and the daily quote now is usually cut off! Please fix..Version: 1.5.4
