✓ Broken with no supportIt seems that Google has abandoned this app, without keeping it up to date with iOS updates. The current version is broken on iOS 12, losing the ability to read the metadata in an upload that establishes the view direction and losing the ability to manually reset the view direction using a preview image. Google seems to assume that the user is too stupid to notice, and doesn’t care if they do, because there is no user support anyway. Street View wasn’t generating enough revenue to sustain it so Google walked away, demonstrating its usual corporate ADHD. Expect this app to not even open with some future iOS..Version: 2.13.3
✓ UnusableI always like to form my own opinion, but I have to say the majority of these reviews are right. This app is virtually unusable, the software is so sensitive that the slightest movement has it flying off here there and everywhere. ✓ Not greatGoogle hasn’t spent a whole lot of resources on this app. It feels like it was updated years ago. I tried taking a 360° photo and the end result was choppy image with different shadows. ✓ Came here because google maps lost streetview.......and I’m really disappointed. Things that could improve: -Fit the window to an iPad screen -Stop the main screen being covered by a window with irrelevant info -This window could show useful information like the day of the image or that could be elsewhere obvious -with a dedicated app, it should be possible to see the previous view of an area as is possible when using in an internet browser. You should be able to select the version you want. - make it easier to ‘drive’ up and down a road without it switching to a different view. -I think you should be able to choose whether you just want to see google streetview or content uploaded by others. - there’s probably more, I’ve only used it for a few minutes..Version: 2.17.2
✓ What is the point of this?Should have taken note of the previous reviews. I too didn’t realise Street View had been removed from Google maps till now. Why? It was so good! So, like an idiot, I downloaded this app. What a waste of time. Wouldn’t go landscape on my iPad, then eventually I managed to find an actual street view but it kept trying to get me to look at random people’s photographs of said street view. I don’t want to look at random people’s photos of the street view, I want to navigate along the street, like I used to be able to on Google maps. Nope. The photo galleries kept popping up and trying to force me to look at them rather than let me see what I want to see. Deleted it after no more than 10 minutes of growing frustration and irritation. ✓ Completely useless!Why on earth did you separate street view from Google maps? I used it continually on my cycle journeys when I went to areas I didn’t know and where I would have to use roads as well as cycle tracks. It was an invaluable help to get me safely to these places. There is no way I can use this app as I cannot follow my route from a height where I can see where I am going and then zoom in to look for landmarks! From the reviews the MAJORITY of people do NOT like this app so PLEASE listen to the majority and put street view back with Google maps where it obviously belongs! ✓ Map Rejection on iPhone XSSince the latest update, all photos from my iPhone XS are uploaded at low resolution and rejected by Google. I have read that this is a critical flaw according to many other iPhone XS users. Worse still, all files appear to lose resolution and become low quality the moment you upload them. I am sitting on dozens of spheres that I cannot publish because doing so ruins the file. It seems as though leaving this app until this problem is addressed is the only thing that makes sense..Version: 2.13.3
✓ How can this be so bad?Virtually unusable. A good third of the screen is usually taken up by card-things you neither requested nor want. When scrolling around it sometimes jumps wildly everywhere apart from where you want it. It’s actually better using third-party online Google Streetview tools which is pretty shameful whichever way you look at it! Why did they ever remove it from Google Maps? Talk about fixing something that wasn't broken! And to all those praising the app for its 3D picture taking - that’s all very nice but couldn’t that have been a different app? I don’t give a monkeys about taking 3D pictures, I just need a well-designed app that shows me relatively recent pictures of the streets - I would prefer to have paid for a good one of those than be complaining about a rubbish free one..Version: 2.13.3

Now, years later, and with a better phone than I’ve ever had, the app seems to be relying on a different method of constructing the photo spheres, and it’s obviously inferior. ✓ Difficult to UploadThe upload options are from the camera roll or Google Photos. Terrible options if you import your 360 images from another device as they don't go into the camera roll folder and this app doesn't let you see the other folders on your phone. The Google Photos route adds a few more steps of having to upload my photos to another cloud and then the photo previews do not even show am image. You are left guessing and pinning the tail on the donkey in order to find your photo. Both of these are terrible interface mistakes making it impossible to contribute images..Version: 2.17.1

A lot of famous places in San Francisco have my panoramas as default when you search them. And I stopped creating them... ✓ Ok but clumsyThis is an ok app but is very cluttered and clumsy. First of all when using the world map to find you location it is constantly covered by the photos from around the world which is extremely annoying as you can’t turn them off or swipe them to get rid of them. Next is the street view. This itself is ok but when moving around from one place to down the road to explore the photos pop up and you have to keep taping to get rid of them which ruins the experience. Lastly the street view keeps turning from landscape to portrait even though I have rotation lock on. If you address these issues this would be a much better app..Version: 2.13.1
✓ Very good but,,,,I use the app to post images of my local area and soon I will post images in other areas. The app allows me to upload my 360 degree images but if I try to connect them into a tour no matter what I do or how many attempts I make to connect the images I get an error message that says an unspecified problem has arisen and I should try again. This is very disappointing and frustrating. I have qualified as a Trusted Google photographer and am very keen to consolidate my work with “Tours” to connect with google maps etc. I read other users have similar problems. ✓ Poor for contributing 360 photosI use this mainly to take and upload 360 pictures to google street view. It’s nice because I can always go back and see the pictures I’ve uploaded to remember where I’ve been and to share places that google has not been able to image. The app is quite unstable, even on a iPhone 12pro max. It often crashes when swiping between 360 images. Setting locations doesn’t always seem to change to the place you pick. Other times it will change to some similarly named place that wasn’t shown in the location picker. Some photos will be rejected by google but you can’t easily see what they are or why they were rejected. You just need to go through the low view counts and check each one although the app does tell you how many were approved. The 360 photos are pretty good, but sometimes there is some tearing. Maybe the image acquisition could ask for a few more photos to help with the stitching? Lastly, I’ve been using this app since around the time it first came out. My 360 photos have always saved to my camera roll. Now, I’ve noticed they’re not and there doesn’t seem to be any way to get them back even though google appears to have a copy..Version: 2.17.2

✓ THEY STILL DIDN’T FIX IT!We just spent a year being told by Google that the inability to connect photos with the grayed-out compass/viewfinder at the bottom of the profile screen was an oversight, a simple fix, but Google was a big stodgy company unable to turn thus ship around for a few months. It took over a year for this new update... and it’s still unaddressed! Rendering this app neat, very neat, love it, use it all the time, but not good enough to actually use to make virtual tours. I’m so frustrated, and would be even moreso if I weren’t beaten down with nihilism. Google broke the app, when we complained they broke their own forum, and now we’re demoted back to hobbyists unless, as they recommend, we go buy expensive third-party software. ✓ Amazing app but has serious shortcomings!This app is quite amazing! You can take these 360 degree photos and then the google servers "stitch" them together and send it back to you! However there are two serious shortcomings which is why I cannot give it a 5 star rating like I really want too! Problem 1: Sometimes the photos don't quite stitch right, with a bit of practice I know it and I would get better however the other problem is that sometimes the focus changes on the camera in some photos and it doesn't quite look right on some sections in the stitched panorama. It would be cool if we could tweak this to make it turn out perfect. Problem 2: This is the big one here which stopped it from getting 5 stars! You can't share this at all with anyone through Facebook or AirDrop -- mega Google fail! This app forces you to use a Google+ account to be able to share to Google Maps which annoys me to no end! There is no reason why they couldn't have used the official iOS sharing functions in iOS 7 to allow is to share to Facebook or AirDrop but they just keep trying to force Google+ down my throat. I never, ever want to use Google+, Google! When are you going to accept that instead of trying to force me to use your service (I already use one social networking site -- Facebook, I DO NOT need another!). It's a real shame to because I have taken PhotoSpheres of lots of parks around my city, but they just sit on my phone doing nothing because of Google stupidity. Step up your game Google, this isn't funny at all! Maybe if you actually allow me to share my amazing photos of the world, I will reconsider this rating. ✓ Terrible on my 2019 iPad.I can’t get it to work properly in landscape mode! It will only allow me to use portrait mode when looking at the map. Then when it’s in street view it will allow me to use landscape mode, but it doesn’t even fill the whole screen. When looking at the map, it only fills maybe a quarter of the screen. ✓ Terrible for iPadThe google website recommends this app for iPhone and iPad. This is terrible for iPad! The map and an image of street view each take up half of the screen and it’s hard to see anything. Sometimes multiple street view tabs stack up and take up the entire screen and you can’t see the map anymore. The app keeps flipping axes e.g. it starts in the portrait orientation but wen u search for a location, it flips to landscape on its own. It gives you tips on how to use the 360 functionality and wen to swipe but the “got it” button is off screen and I can’t scroll to get to it. But I find there's one problem which gets in the way of allowing me to take great pictures - the ability to take the shot myself! There have been countless times where it hasn't aligned itself properly and before I get the chance to fix this, the photo has already been taken. I have tried to find a manual setting for this but there appears to be nothing. It causes almost all of my spheres to be stitched together terribly. ✓ My reviewSeems like you’ve somehow updated your app after about a year waiting and I’m glad you now have iPhone X support and improved rendering 360 panos (which is why it’s 2 stars) but how comes you need to have a separate app for street view? The reviews are also complaining about this too. How about putting the street view feature back into Google Maps and rename this app into something like “Google Capture”? ✓ This App does not workI am a high school teacher who invested time and money while traveling the world taking 360 images for my students that I uploaded to Google Street View for them to experience in VR mode. I purchased Google Cardboard viewers and created a number of lessons for the classroom. Last August when prepping for the new year I noticed that the VR option resulted in a black screen only. I deleted the app and reinstalled a number of times. I reached out to Google. I received questions about what version I was using. I noticed many other frustrated educators doing the same. It is now November 2019. Crickets. We have heard nothing and nothing is fixed. Complete lack of communication. Spare yourself if you are looking for VR feature. ✓ Following Route At Street-Level Absolute PainImmediately after I reported that searching by address doesn’t work, there was an update that fixed that. I had just acquired this app, so I don’t know whether it caused the following problems, or if they were already present. I tried to trace a route from my house to a point a couple of miles away, using the street-level view. Every few blocks the blue line would disappear and further progress would be stopped. The only way to proceed is to switch to the map view and advance the little man, whereupon he skips over the segment of road that can’t be covered at street-level. Upon returning to street-level, you may find yourself facing down the street in the wrong direction. Further confusing the matter is that in the map view the line is continuous, not broken, giving one no warning of what to expect. If the reason for the breaks is that people have requested to not have their houses in the street-level view, then a database for taking that into account in the map view exists. Another annoyance is intersections. Most, though, oddly, not all of them, have the lines crossing not at right angles, but in this weird zigzag that is treacherous to attempt to navigate. Occasionally, one can sometimes hop over it, but other times you wind up on the cross street or several blocks behind where you were. One time the app shut down..Version: 2.17.2

✓ Why oh whyI didn’t realise they had taken street view off the Maps app until I was trying to research the history of an old photo of a shop in my home city. ✓ My house isn’t in BosniaI just got this app. I searched my home address. It came up and I could see my house. I saw my dog in the window of my house, and I showed it to my dad. (I had closed the tab before showing it to my dad). I went to show him. I typed the address in front of him and instead of my house, a random house is Bosnia showed. (I dont live anywhere close to Bosnia) I was really confused on why this was happening so I kept searching my address and the same house in Bosnia showed up again. ✓ Why isn’t this easy?Had to download the app as street view isn’t available via Safari, what a mistake - should have just gone and turned the laptop on! The tutorials are pretty poor for what to do and moving around while in street view is very finicky and doesn’t respond well (often moving around when trying to rotate). It’s also very hard to get bearings on which way is ‘up’ when moving around as there’s no compass/mini-map. Pretty poor from what we’ve come to expect from Google..Version: 2.13.1

The most glaring omission is the lack of a way to bookmark a location to come back to it later. After much exploration I found the ruins of my great-grandfather’s house in Ireland, but I’d have to go hunting all over if I want to see it again. ✓ Why?Why does this app exist? Google Maps with Street View integration worked perfectly well. This app is a solution to a problem that was never even there but it creates additional problems in the process. I occasionally use street view and satellite view to figure out how to get to places. ✓ This app is absolutely terribleThis app is absolutely terrible! I downloaded it because streetview wouldn’t work online and it doesn’t have any address in its system. Only very general places like Brooklyn, NY or Saratoga Avenue. The second you try to search something, you can’t find it because it isn’t even in the system. So I spend about 35 minutes scrolling from my current location to the location point that I want to view in street mode and I have to shuffle from online google maps to the streetview app to match up the location/make sure I’m going in the right direction. I finally find my location after what feels like an hour and a half and when I’m looking around the streetview, I last about 10-15 seconds before something pops up on the screen that I try to get to go away but doesn’t so I’m forced to close the app out. Deleted it right away. This app is awful! I don’t even think they could help me if I got lost. Oh not to mention, I search for a location in NYC and it sends me to Canada??? ✓ TaIk about going backwards!I did not realise until about 30 minutes ago that the Street View, which was a fabulously useful resource, had been removed from Google Maps. What a great shame. ✓ Preview images still doesn’t show.This app was great over 18 months ago. But now we can’t see the preview images when Linking and Moving images, so you have to use a 3rd party system to do this. ✓ Crap App for iPhone XI am using Google Maps since its launch. I used to admire the street view of UK when I visited there. I use GSV in U.S even now from the maps when I go to a new destination. I was too eager and installed it as soon as I saw it in App Store. But the app is unresponsive and keeps crashing. It worked only once and I saw a view of some Astronomical Lab that was on home page by default. However the app went unresponsive and kept crashing just after that. I can't imagine the app could be so crappy on iPhone X running 11.2.1 (latest). I'm highly disappointed with Google Street View. Please fix the bugs and release a better version. ✓ UselessI’m sure if what you wanted was to share your panoramic photos and look at pretty views this is perfect but if you wanted to use Streetview as an actual tool it is absolutely useless. ✓ Terrible appLiterally just wanted to update the streetview for my own house because the last photo was taken 13 years ago. No option to do so in the maps app, and couldn’t (nor wanted to) get far enough to even try on this app. Judging by the reviews, the only reason the rating is so high is because this was the standard when the app was first released 7 years ago, and slowly this app has become more and more outdated whilst the main maps app gets none of the “features” that this app has. ✓ Badly designed and virtually impossible to useThis app proves that Google has a sense of humour. Some things you can only do in portrait mode. You can’t look at a street unless you search for it and it doesn’t find most streets. It seems to generate it’s own pop ups which cover most of your screen and make it impossible to use.
