✓ Ok, but too much retreatingNo matter who I am playing as, and no matter what position I am in, my troops will always retreat. I was playing with too squads of 1500 troops, and an enemy squad of around 300 troops came up to them and my army just ran off, giving up the control point and causing me to lose the game. It is very frustrating and since I am a huge civil war buff, it angers me that one of the only somewhat decent civil war games on the App Store has such a frustrating mechanic that makes it near unplayable. If this was not a problem, then game would be miles better, but as it is right now, it is downright disappointing.Bob1201120Version: 1.14

✓ Cannons don't work rightI heard a lot of good things about the PC version of the game but the ipad version is the 'lite' version of it apparently. Game is way more simplistic than I expected but it's still fun. My big gripe is with cannons. Every time I move them they won't shoot despite being on a hill with clear LOS. None of my troops in front of them either. They just sit and do nothing until they eventually get attacked. On the rare occasions where it does shoot it only kills 5 to 10 enemy troops which is ridiculous at close range. You can't win a game like this, especially as the Confederates, without cannons working right. .Otherwise the game is ok. May have to shell out some $ and buy the regular version on my pc since Apple decided that the presence of Confederate flag was too offensive to keep it in the app store. Maybe they should have a smiley face flag instead. Hey Apple : How about letting gamers decide what is offensive and what isn't. Just put a disclaimer in the game description saying confederate flags might upset some snowflake..Stormygal!Version: 1.14

✓ InaccurateOn the first day of Gettysburg Buford’s troops were already in place. The curettes were on the outskirts screening the movements. The skirmish era of devin and gamble were on Herr ridge long before the confederacy arrived. The game has you set up just as your enemy arrives. The cavalry “skirmishes” have the option to charge. I hate to tell you this but cavalry never charge dismounted. There should be an option for cavalry to go from mounted to dismounted or vice versa. You have the option for artillery to go from limbered to unlimbered, why not cavalry. I have encountered issues with the union infantry. The troops on my side would have 1800 men, entrenched on the high ground. Two volley fires from the enemy then they cut tail and run. There is no option for volley fire for any side. The troops seem to attack whenever they want. My troops are slow when running but the AI moves like the flash. Overall no one seems to run out of ammunition!!!! ✓ Excellent game, very limited replayabilityThis game is awesome. It's got the "total war" type feel to it. I absolutely loved playing through both campaigns, on all 3 difficulty levels. Games of this nature, where you can control large scale battles, is severely lacking on iOS, especially phone and tablets, so it's very nice to see a game like this I can play on my phone. However, the replayability factor is severely limited. Some sort of other game mode besides the linear campaign would be nice. Something akin to an open battle where you can choose units to field on either side would make this game 5 stars for sure..Civil War ManiacVersion: 1.14

✓ BadCan’t say enough historically I enjoyed it but that’s where it ended. Difficulty doesn’t make a difference it’s easier to play through on union idk why they wrote beginner under the csa. Units will retreat on their own not in breaking or out of morale they just run. I’m rating it so poorly because I’ve spent hours in this game and I’ve realized it’s just a game error units will just leave sometimes they aren’t even in battle. 2nd cavalry raid union side both my arty units left the field without firing a shot and one of my brigades without being in combat started the mission they instantly start retreating. ✓ Good but not greatIt's a good game but the Line of Sight thing is really hard to control, especially on a small screen. The confederate levels are good fun and challenging even on the easy level, the North is nigh on impossible and gets really frustrating even on easy. You rarely have any time to redeploy your forces before the numerically superior confederates rush you and you are generally just sitting there making minor tactical move, before watching your lines crumble halfway through the battle. Night Alert for the North is particularly frustrating and I've yet to complete it on easy after a month of trying. This would be a great game if players could plan their deployments before a battle and LoS was a little more forgiving..AuntagathasdogVersion: 1.13

✓ Can you make it more applicable for iPhone 13 or higher?The game is great for its tactics and animation. However, the screen is too narrow for iPhone 13. It is too hard to see the words. In addition, the map needs to be made more flexible so that it can be zoomed in even bigger to let you see the details of it cuz it is also uncomfortable when you want to see the details of the map but you realize that it cannot be zoomed in further anymore..Pedro AlfredoVersion: 1.14

✓ Not the PC versionThe PC version of this is fantastic, featuring a dynamic campaign where your performance in earlier scenarios will impact both what scenarios you’re faced with as well as forcing you (and your opponent) to deal with gradually depleting forces. Scenarios themselves played out different each time. Importantly, the time for each scenario would extend depending on whether there was still intense fighting going on. This doesn’t have any of that. Each mission exists in isolation. You only progress if you capture 2 out of 3 victory points by the allotted time. Contesting a victory point when time runs out? Too bad, you lose. Try the same scenario again until you succeed. Unit histories don’t carry over, so go ahead and let your best troops be decimated - they’ll be back at full strength for the next scenario. Also, you can’t save during a scenario, for some reason. It’s by no means terrible. The game still looks and feels like the PC version, but so much of what made the PC version great is missing without warning or explanation..MunicipalisVersion: 1.14

✓ It's good at firstCompared to other mobile strategy games this one is great. However a couple of missions in You see some very glaring issues. Most notably there is zero replay ability. You play the Union then Confederate campaign and your about done. Not much to play with. In the PC version you get a lot of replay ability, for example losing a battle means you can choose a scenario where you might make a holdout point. This however is very linear, absolutely no replay ability. Even if your able to get a unit down too a fifth of its original strength it's back with full strength. I suppose this can be chalked up due to limiting software on Apple. Then you have the difficulty levels, the ai is all the same, the Confederates are extremely aggressive, always charging. Union usually tries to shoot you to death. It's the complete opposite of the PC game where you can choose how the ai fights, i.e. Agressive, chaotic, cautious, etc. If you have played a level you can know exactly what the ai will do, they basically have pre set orders, at least towards the beginning of the battle. I wish I could get my money back. Hope there are more updates but game seems pretty dead. If you have a pc buy the PC version....BlagnoneedfornameVersion: 1.14

✓ Add sandboxThe game gets boring after you complete all the missions and I replayed some of them but it gets boring. You need sandbox to keep players active on your game because then it starts to get old after a while. I love the game but you need to add sandbox the last time you updated was 6 years ago almost 7. ✓ Great concept, terrible gameplaySince most of the reviews here are positive, I'm afraid that I'll have to show the negative part of this game that I encountered. The difficulty. Although this game gave a lot of fun to me at the beginning missions it slowly became impossible to win missions in the mid to late stages of the campaign. The AI will always have more troops than you regardless of the difficulty setting (in one of the missions you have to defend against odds of 3 to 1), making it practically impossible to win. This is the one of the only issues with the game. It is fun at the beginning of the game, but gameplay becomes impossible towards the mid stages..Elston_Version: 1.14
