✓ Very expensiveI understand this costs money to run and so it’s necessary to charge, but this is one of the most expensive subscriptions I’ve ever seen in an app. With no way to test the channels and features that aren’t free due to the lack of a trial period, I would have to pass on subscribing, even if it wasn’t a lot more than I can afford. I’ll continue to enjoy the free channels a little, but I’ll likely get tired of having to skip over so many channels that are unavailable to me. It does look like a great app though. Edit: The ads go on for several minutes each and they play way more often than is reasonable even for a free app..Version: 11.12.1

✓ Starts with 10 minutes of ads!Nice concept and lots of content, but very annoyed at their pitch for customers to subscribe to memberships every time you start the app and play a station. It’s not too bad if it’s 30 seconds or so, like most other services (and usually they don’t start off with it), but with multiple back to back ads that lasts for almost 10 minutes before starting the actual content, this is unacceptable! ✓ App needs to clean houseI am using calm for 3 years now, so I obviously have a use for it and I’m appreciative of some of its features. However, the app is poorly structured, hard to navigate, and cluttered with a lot of very similar to identical channels with different names. The binaural selection is very good but sound quality-production values are sub standard. There are jumps in volume levels, clicks and pops that are studio noises that should have been cleaned up before release. Too many channels that are essentially the same and also I’ve got to say that playlists are very limited and therefore repetitive. The app needs to be cleaned out-get rid of all the garbage and clutter and make the indexes easier to navigate. In 3 years I’ve seen none of the apps sloppiness improved upon..Version: 11.13.0
✓ Incredible app but not worth $100 plus yearlyThis app comes in handy but it is not worth $100 bucks a year. I’ll tell you why most of the channels are repetitive with their music and must of the time the Sam artist and music will come on. The only super cool thing about it is how you can layer it when it come to rain thunder and many other things. I now have to wait for an offer again to purchase it at a forever price of about $300 to $500 bucks which will pay it self off in the long run..Version: 11.18.1
✓ Connection problemsI’m a new subscriber, and I’m very pleased with the selection and quality of channels available. I do have a major complaint however. The music at certain times of day keeps getting interrupted. It will play for 20 seconds or so then stop, then start up again...very very annoying. Sometimes when I quit the app and start it again it’s alright for awhile, but then the feed starts cutting out again. Not sure I’ll renew my subscription when it runs out....Version: 11.10.3

✓ Great content yet having issues with connectingOverall I find this to be a fantastic app with high quality content. My issue is with the connection. I’ve tried all the things - monkeying with all the settings, deleting and reinstalling the app, resetting my phone, using only Bluetooth connection. Still, I get periods of disconnection - and too often for me to enjoy the channel I’ve chosen. I’m hopeful that when I move to a new home it will be better. But when I actually started to subscribe I was under the impression that it would be ad free. To me ad free does not mean “we will still preoccupy the space I. The stream with ethereal noise placeholders where the ads used to be.” Those spaces between songs for paying customers are also sued for self promotion Calm ads between _every_single _track!!? This is extremely annoying, mis-representation and I believe the technology you choose NOT to employ: The app and the Sonos linking should recognize the signed in user (which is the case for my iPhone 11, running iOS 15) and have back to back music, no Calm ads, no ethereal in between tracks. You guys have had 6yrs of my subscription cash. You need to step up the customer experience intelligence and stop filling my music with your garbage plugs all hour long..Version: 11.13.6

✓ Used to like it, now hate it!Over the years but as much 15 years a word from time to time get a subscription to CalmRadio and loved it because I could stream it to my Google Home device implants in my living room but no I discontinue my membership because I can’t stream anymore! ✓ Podcast feature is mehThe new podcast feature is very glitchy. I attempted to listen to three different podcasts only to have the app quit on me. And then I don’t have the option of listening to the podcast again because it disappears forever. So tonight, I still have no idea of the history of Auntie Ann’s pretzels or what Stanley Tucci really thinks of Julia Childs because the app quit on me, and now those podcasts are gone, never to be retrieved. And while I know these podcast samples are short, I don’t think you intend to cut them off mid-sentence with the story incomplete. I do not have any stability issues with the music channels. I’ve never had the app quit on me ever before until I tried to listen to the podcasts. Also, I think you went overboard with the quantity of podcasts instead of focusing on the quality. Better and longer podcasts would be better. And of course, they shouldn’t disappear forever once you’ve attempted to listen to them. Maybe disappear them after 24 hours?.Version: 11.12.0
✓ Too expensiveThe developer says they offer offline downloading, but I’m not able to find that anywhere other than for the nature sounds. For me, that’s not worth the price. On the positive side, the developer appears to be very engaged with their customers. That’s good to see and I wish them all the best. ===[Previous Review]=== The app seems to work fine. The only issue is that it’s virtually the same price as Apple Music. My phone provider doesn’t charge me for data when streaming Apple Music, and I can craft my own playlists. ✓ Overall it’s wonderfulThere is at least 1 app, Jazz London Radio, that will not play when opened. Britain stations are dealing with a Society forcing additional royalties. It’s unclear whether this is the problem, which did affect a previous wonderful jazz station outside London. In sending requests for troubleshooting 5 different techs have responded, requesting identical info from me. Also I don’t understand breaking into a piece to deliver a commercial. ✓ It would have been more starsI love the idea of this app and you can listen to a vast amount of music for free. However, when I find something I want to be able to ’favourite’ it. But... you have to PAY for that privilege! I think I'll stick to Youtube that way I can find what I want straight away in my favourites. You should have to pay to favourite something. ✓ Music 5* App works well BUT ferociously drains battery!Have been a Calm Radio client for a couple of years or more now. The curated streams are excellent and listen to perhaps a dozen regularly and twice that from time-to-time. Very satisfied. However the (the most recent) iOS app on my 2 year old iPad Pro will drain the battery in 2 days or so. Open it, play stream with 60 min timer. Next morning 20% battery gone. Two days later all gone (even when not subsequently used again). App not open but using another streaming service with similar usage cycle battery last 6 days. Battery report shows over those two days Calm Radio has chewed 95% background CPU. *** Please fix your App *** It’s wasting my battery life and ruining an otherwise excellent experience. As I use the iPad for this purpose a lot I consider this to be a deal-breaker. Responded to the developer comment four weeks ago supplying detailed data including battery usage screenshots. Heard nothing more. Not even a “looking into it”. Battery demolition by the app is a BIG issue. On the cusp of cancelling subscription..Version: 11.9.3
✓ Great concept and musical selections; ruined by adsThis would be an awesome radio app except for the commercials to subscribe. Nothing worse than reading, engaging in a project or attempting to fall asleep only to be jolted by a “subscribe now for 30% off!” add that drones on for three or four minutes. ✓ The commercials are so upsettingThe whole point of this app is relaxation and beautiful music. But whatever you try to play, you don't get. Instead, you get 5, 6, 8 commercials in a row until you just can't stand it anymore and you turn it off. I've never been able to play music on this app because after six or eight commercials, I turn it off in discussed. And there is quite literally nothing that suggests a commercial or ad free service. There is a premium subscription, but no information whatsoever about what that premium subscription gets you. It's possible that it gets you an ad, free experience, but who would know? and who won earth uses this thing? Do people truly just wanna hear unlimited, Infinitum commercials? How could anyone leave this a positive review when it's billed as relaxing music but it doesn't play relaxing music it only plays ads? I suppose it's possible that I just need to suffer through 40 or 50 music, but why on earth would I do that?.Version: 11.21.0

✓ Great but has issuesI love all the stations. I listen all the time. Very often the app will just randomly close though and the music stops playing. And often I will get stuck in a loop of the same song playing over and over. It also doesn’t always let me skip past songs. It makes the app freeze and close, and when I go back in I have to choose a different station because the one I was listening to won’t work. I have a brand new phone and my software is updated so this feels like an app problem to me. ✓ Latest App is Slow and CumbersomeI enjoy Calm Radio, however, the new app - which has been out for a while now - is unacceptably slow and hard to navigate relative to previous versions. I have an older iPhone, but the app is not speedy even on the latest iPad Pro. I've been a Calm Radio subscriber since I connected to the service via http on an iPod Touch, and the underlying data streams have not increased in bandwidth enough to justify the significant drop in performance of the latest app relative to the Calm Radio apps in the past. ✓ Too much jesusIm SO disappointed that there seems to be an excess of christian instrumental songs played across many, many channels which do not identify themselves as christian. I bought a years subscription with the desire to relax to music NOT so i could worship Jesus. Speaking as a person who used to be a devout christian and now is a firm atheist… i find this music unacceptable and rather offensive. If i listen half heartedly, next thing i know i find myself singing along the praises to the lord without even realizing it. Other times i am actively listening and cant help but recognize the song, which then gets my mind occupied on all the many reasons i gave up the faith. So at the end of the day i am neither relaxed nor inspired by this cookie cutter music. If you used to be christian, but like me have found a more sensible path to walk… don’t subscribe to calm radio… it will only annoy you. ✓ Losing out on a membership.I’m a paid member of Calm Radio, and am now losing out. I love the music and atmosphere channels, and would give it five stars. The problem is that the new app isn’t VoiceOver friendly, as the previous versions were, and there is no in-app tutorial. Somehow, I finally got One channel to play in the new version, but am unable to switch channels or go to other categories. I tried Contact Us in the App Support section of the info page in App Store, and met up with a captcha, which has an audio challenge, but it doesn’t work! Please bring back the previous—and user friendly—version. I suspect I’m not the only person who finds the new app unnavigable and a real mess. ✓ Play Button Stopped Working - Ignored by Support TeamI was a regular free user and was actually thinking about shelling out the price for a yearly subscription but all the sudden the play button on all channels have stopped working. It’s been three months and I’ve tried everything to fix it alongside updating my iOS and still doesn’t work.
