Cs Music Pro for Negative User Reviews

Too many playback issuesWhat a useless app! I bought this app based on web reviews stating it was the best music player app. The best? Not by a long shot. Constantly freezes and crashes throughout the day. Plus, this app is way too dependent on the Apple Music app and any issues you had with that, you’ll have with this. Since purchasing this I’ve had nothing but playback issues with the app freezing up. Every time I change playback devices (speaker, Bluetooth earbuds, iPhone speaker, etc) it freezes up. Go out of the app and go back in it freezes up. I either have to go to the Apple Music app to stop or start playback or sleep the iPhone to stop playback on the lock screen. I then go back into the app and it continues to be frozen for another 10-20 seconds until it shuts down and I have to restart it. When I pay for a music app I expect to get away from the issues I had with the apple app, not continue them. A complete waste of money..Version: 4.1.2

What Apple Music was and should be. Needs better scrobblerUpdate: app doesn’t work as well as it used to. It might be updates by apple’s fault but daft it is freezes often, crashes, often becomes unresponsive. Sometimes you have to go into the Apple Music app to stop the music playing. Still like the layout but it needs to be more reliable Original review: Good. Still some issues. Has become quite laggy though or just less responsive to finger presses. More so than the Apple player in a noticeable way. Needs better scrobbler. It's not precise when's moving and the hit box for your finger to activate it is way too small. The one thing the new Apple Music player does well is an improved scrobbler. Copy nothing from Apple Music but that scrobbler user experience. The app is What Apple Music was and should be. It's better for large collections. It prioritized usability over eye candy in the cluttered/poor interface Apple Music app. that is probably there for people that don't actually have Music collections. Otherwise they'd want better navigation in the Apple Music app. If you want the old Apple Music player's layout, look, and general function back this is an app you'll like. It's what you've been looking for. And there's other customization like colors, mines all black with blue lettering, night mode style. And other options..Version: 4.1.5

Not much advantage over iOS MusicOK, but not finding much advantage over Apple music app. The artist images, which are often missing in the Apple version, are just taken from one album cover - ie not an artist image such as you get in iTunes. Also, I cannot get the Night Mode to work - just says always off, and the slider doesn’t move. Have tried on two devices, iOS 12 and 13, and no different..Version: 5.0.10

Understanding but disappointedRecently, the app was updated to account for API’s Apple no longer supports, which meant several features had to be cut - notably queue management. While the app remains beautiful and is more stable than before, I simply can’t give a higher rating to something now lacking a feature I used so frequently, and that remains in the base Music app. It’s near daily that I’m either working out or am on the aux with friends, and want to be able to queue up a playlist and then at the very least view the next few songs set to play and be able to remove songs from that list. It’s very disappointing to see this feature be totally gone now. Will happily return my rating to five stars if it ever comes back..Version: 5.0

User interface is extremely slowGreat app feature but User interface is lagging continuously on iOS 11.2.5 with iPhone 7 Plus. Will update review once fixed.Version: 4.0.1

4 years later still doesn’t show all playlists4 years later still doesn’t show all playlists.Version: 6.4.2

App’s going downhillThe app was great back in its iOS 9 iteration. Running the latest version now but on iOS 12 is laggy, buggy, and missing basic, yet useful, features like playlist and track list management. In recent updates, whenever I click “Shuffle All Songs” the app freezes momentarily before crashing. This sometimes happens twice consecutively before finally working upon yet another app refresh. It is still better than the native music app..Version: 5.0.11

Good while it lasted.I bought this app and for a few days I loved it. Reminded me of the music app before Apple ruined it. There as then 2 update in 2 days and now it is just horrible to use. Can take a good 30+ secs to actually open on my iPhone 8+ and then most of the times it just freezes so find myself using the stock app instead, defeating the purpose of buying this app. I will request a full refund and would suggest holding off buying this until they have ironed out the new bugs..Version: 4.1.1

Was good but seems to very buggyI have used this app for a very long time and was very happy to pay for it. But now it seems to be very buggy. The search feature doesn’t work too well anymore. Sometimes the control bar to pause or play disappears and you have to go to music to stop the track. And they removed the ♥️ feature altogether!! I feel I have to use Music more and more to do basic stuff when Cesium faults out . Shame this app was brilliant...once..Version: 5.0.10

Help with playing mp3s stored in files pleaseReviews state you can play mp3s stored locally on your iphone i can't figure out how please help.Version: 6.4.14

Has PotentialI gave up on Cesium and went back to the Apple Music app. Cesium is feature rich but I sometimes found it confusing and non-intuitive. Sometime in ios 11.x I started experiencing more and more odd behavior with the app. The resume queue prompt was always confusing and of late choosing yes or no sometimes gave unexpected results. In shuffle song mode of my 3000+ songs It seemed like I was always hearing the same songs being played. When I went back to Apple Music I began hearing songs from my library that I haven’t heard for months. Then there’s the occasional crashes and slow operation when using Bluetooth in my car. I think the app still has future potential and its developer does a good job of providing updates on a timely basis..Version: 4.0.8

Lags a lotPretty good music player but even after a lot of updates, still got glitches since always. Kindly update it once and for all. Thanks.Version: 4.1.2

Once it was great app. Not anymore. With each release it loses features. First the good gestures were gone so only the basic left. Now also the constant dark theme is gone too. So it is actually now inferior to the basic Apple player now. In addition other features that made this app useful, all gone too..Version: 5.1.1

Does not work with personal collectionLooks like I’ve just wasted my money. I got this because it is supposed to work with your personal collection not Apple Music only. Developer: Unlike VLC for example it does not appear in the Files section when I connect to my Mac. How do you add music you own? That’s what the reviews of this app say it is for. Angry and disappointed..Version: 6.4

Its oright but need fixingSorting music big issue here Adding star song option so we can add rated song on top will be good..Version: 5.1.5

Constant crashesThe developer unfortunately doesn’t offer a lite or trial version of this app, so I had to make sure it was exactly what I wanted before I purchased it I did the research and it looked like after iOS 12, most of the stability issues were gone, so I rolled the dice and finally updated my iPod touch from iOS 9 (the last iOS to have a decent stock music app) to 12 and purchased the app yesterday. I seriously wish Apple had some form of refund system in place until whatever issues Apple and Cesium are having are sorted out. The only way I can get the player to not crash almost every time I turn on my screen is to disable the advanced queuing feature but at that point I pretty much spent $2.99 on a re-skin of the stock iOS music player. I appreciate the developer creating this app as it looks like there is a lot of passion put into it and I hope his talks with Apple go well..Version: 4.2.2

Can’t choose music file locationThis app may be great at accessing your Apple music library but I bought it before discovering that you cannot specify the folder it looks at to find your music and mine is not stored in Apple Music. Please correct me if this is wrong, but be aware if you are in a similar situation.Version: 6.4.5

It was goodish while it lasted... but started throwing errors and is now unusable. Had to go back to native Music app on iPhone..Version: 4.0.10

Good... But slowUsed to be really great and was my choice of replacement for the music app but since the last few versions (perhaps version iOS 11?) it's been slow. You tap a button like next track and it takes a fraction of a second to work... Music app does not suffer this. (iPhone X, latest public iOS 11 release, 1.2.x.) Gets frustrating enough that I no longer really use the app..Version: 4.0.6

Not a lot of featuresThe aesthetics of this app are nice but that’s about it. There is no “up next” functionality at all which I value a lot. Also, when I press on a song on the lock screen, it takes me to the native music app rather than this. Some lag in the app as well..Version: 5.0.8

DreadfulThis app used to be wonderful. It now opens only spasmodically: mostly I see nothing but a greyed out screen. Avoid!.Version: 6.3

Help!I can’t find any way to get tech support. My songs are stuck on repeat which is extremely annoying. I’ll have to stop using this app if I can’t get a fix.Version: 6.4.2

Not a music player replacementThis app doesn't work when you delete Apple's music player, so this app is only a themed music "skin". I am disappointed as this is a paid app yet isn't a music player in it's own right..Version: 3.7.1

Forgets what it was playingListening in my car, I pause when I need to get out for 10 minutes or so. When I come back it's forgotten what it was playing. It goes back to the first track in the playlist so you need to find where you were and cue manually. Very annoying. That plus the fact you need to keep the Apple Music app installed when the whole point is you're trying to replace it. Very disappointing. Not sure why it gets so many good reviews..Version: 6.4.9

Cs appDo not buy this app After purchase the cheeky beggar asked for a tip before it would open Then you could not load songs into it It’s a scam I want my money back.Version: 6.3.1

Great app, new update doesn’t look greatI love the CS music player, it’s been my go-to for years now. But, I’m sorry to say that I’m not impressed with the look of the now playing screen in the latest update. One thing that kept me using it instead of the Apple app was the full screen artwork and the really great landscape view. This new version totally ruined the landscape view with the focus being on the player controls instead of the cover art. And the regular view now has a smaller version of the cover art with a thin border around it. It looks outdated or like it’s a glitch in the software. Sorry to say that i like the look of the Apple player better now, even though it’s an inferior app. I will keep using CS in hopes that a future update brings back the stellar look that it once had..Version: 6.1

Restoring originalsHi there, is there a setting I can use to default original files and playlists in my desktop rather than the Apple Music versions? When I first set up Cesium I was very pleased to see files appear that were purchased outside the Apple ecosystem. However, overnight something synced and playlists mutated to songs only available in Apple Music. Can you suggest a way to restore and lock? Thanks.Version: 4.3

Worse than iPhone musicI wanted something to avoid iPhone music from down loading music that I removed from my phone. I removed it so I don’t want to hear it. This app does that one star. It locks up and freezes, doesn’t display the correct track playing, again because it hasn’t caught up. Stops playing then resumes the track from the beginning. Doesn’t offer anything more. Very poor for a free app absolute ripoff for a paid app.Version: 4.1.5

ShufflingYou mean to tell me I don’t have the ability to shuffle a playlist or albums ?? Only songs ?.Version: 6.3.3

Trashed my music librarySomehow, after giving this music library permissions, a single song went missing from most of the albums on my iPad..Version: 6.4.2

Garbage. This is terrible. There is only a way to stream from one’s own iTunes. One cannot load one’s music to phone for offline usage. Items do not consistently appear. Select a file to play and another might begin. Quit the app and sound continues to play. A broken app, I’m afraid. And I want my money and time back..Version: 5.0.2

Really wanted to like itEverything perfect except for functionality - it takes 10s to load and open every time... on brand new iPhone X... unfortunately will have to look elsewhere unless it’s fixed.Version: 5.1.7

Star rating with app is faultyI have used this app for a year or two now, which I prefer over the iPhone music app, primarily for the ability to have favorite playlists listed, greatly reducing the number of taps necessary to start playing. The negative is that for some reason the star rating within the app is no longer properly updating to my iTunes library. I rate all my music using the 5 star rating, and began using Cesium when Apple pulled (temporarily) it from iTunes and the iPhone music app. Although Apple brought it back, it is much quicker to rate via the Cesium/C’s Music app. What I recently discovered was that my iTunes library on my MacBook was not updating with all those ratings made via C’s music. After some troubleshooting, I discovered that any ratings made within C’s music will update my iPhone music app only temporarily and will not make it’s way into my iTunes/iCloud library. I will sit at my MacBook and see this happen in real time: if I make a rating using the iPhone music app, those would update immediately onto my MacBook iTunes library. If I make a rating using C’s Music, I would then switch over to the iPhone music app and see the new rating there, but it will not show up on my MacBook. Sometime later those C’s Music ratings will disappear..Version: 5.0.10

I can’t playI cant play.Version: 5.0.9

It's awesome!Since Apple in its infinite wisdom decided to delete star ratings from the Music app, those of us who rely on them had to scramble for an alternative. This one is excellent and is now my go-to music player. The interface is slick and there are some useful options, including the ability to view song metadata which I really love. Read the instructions on the app description or Cesium website thoroughly, as there are many great features which aren't obvious. I hope the developer keeps it as primarily a music app as I would hate to see it get cluttered up. Great job Mike! Update 12/20: For me, this app’s entire reason for being has been lost with the latest update. Star ratings are no longer visible unless tapped and then they disappear. I will be deleting unless the developer re-enables this function. I’ll give him a month. Very disappointed..Version: 6.0

Stripped of features and still doesn’t work.Barely works at all. A simple search now takes 45 seconds or more before showing any results. Very disappointing. If you’re seeking frustration, irritation and disappointment, then look no further. This is the app for you..Version: 5.0.8

DisappointedThis was supposed to fix the terrible sorting problems of the iPhone music app. It doesn’t; still splits an album into several albums of the same name but with a song or two in them. And yes, the Meta-data is identical????.Version: 5.0.4

Version 6 lost its wayCesium was a great app that replicated the old official music player from iOS 7-9. Version 5 removed lots of functionality, but still kept the design aesthetic while being faster and more stable than version 4. With version 6, the developer has decided to change the UI so that it no longer resembles the old music app. The scrubber bar is hidden, attached as part of the album artwork for whatever reason and all the controls have had a ton of white space added around them. This is especially bad on an iPhone SE’s 4” screen. Swipe gestures were also removed and only readded for iOS 14. It would have been better if version 6 was released only for iOS 14 or as a separate app as Cesium no longer is what it was originally meant to be, a replication of the superior iOS 7-9 music app..Version: 6.1

Good but slowI like Cesium as it allows me to continue to use the star rating system that Apple has ditched in the default app. I also like being able to order songs any way I like. However, it is far from a snappy, responsive experience with delays between pressing buttons and something happening (iPhone 6). If they could sort that out it'd be great. Update: Now using on an iPhone 8 and I’m finding it so laggy as to be almost unbearable. Scrolling constantly locks up for a few seconds, which is also the length of delay between clicking on a song and it playing..Version: 4.0.1

Nice app design but not a replacement for the music appI purchased this app as a replacement for the now totally ruined Apple Music app - which I would be quite happy to never use again. Sadly this app doesn’t allow playlist creation or editing citing technical reasons with syncing with iTunes - personally I think iTunes is aweful (I very rarely use the sync) and would be quite happy if this app just did its own playlist thing, but I’m left slightly lighter in pocket and still no better off. It’s a shame this app also doesn’t address the gap left my the now missing Apple Genius function - I’ve a large music library and would like a way to help me rediscover tracks I’ve forgotten about, some form of search for rarely played files or perhaps picking random tracks from the same genre I’m listening to would be really useful. So, a nice player app but sadly not the solution that allows me to relegate to Apple app to help bin..Version: 3.9.4

All great things come to an endReal shame with this latest update. Sold as being less buggy and still experience some like: when I use the search function sometimes it just freezes. Or, when I add songs to play next, then toggle the shuffle button. MOST DISAPPOINTING IS THE LACK OF QUEUE MANAGEMENT. I cannot even view what songs are up next! Or edit the up-next listing! I don’t know why this is has been removed as there is an app called ‘Musik’ where it all works great!? Can you not just do what they do? Apart from the great design, there is no pint in this as I am resorting the main music app everytime..Version: 5.0.3

Not an iTunes replacementLooking for an iTunes replacement to manually upload music. Cesium cannot do this. It’s simply a customisable version of iTunes. Nothing revolutionary..Version: 4.0.6

Only works with iCloud/iTunesIt needs to be clearer in the ios app description that music must be added through an iTunes account. Which is completely useless for people like me who want to stay clear of iCloud or streaming (especially as these have a limited music selection). Even adding a playlist on this app requires you to go through iTunes..Version: 6.4.1

How to add music not in Apple Music?Well, I read that this app focuses on my own music collection, and also shows what's in Apple Music. My music ibrary is in FLAC and I read that this app plays FLAC, and Apple Music doesn't support FLAC. I've added some music to the Files (On My iPad), but how do I get them into this app? Or more importantly, how do I tell this app to use my folder of music which isn't Apple's Music? I've had to pay for this to find out, these doesn't seem to be a logical way to add music to this app other than via apple's app that won't read or accept FLAC. Not very happy at this stage..Version: 6.4.5

A lot to love, increasingly more things not to loveI’ve been a long time user of Cs Music Player (or Cesium as it used to be called). I’m not so old but it seems I’m a dinosaur when it comes to the way I like to listen to music since I’m a firm believer in OWNING music, having a music library that somehow reflects my own progressing tastes. Apple used to love music lovers and used to provide some very nice hardware and software to cater to guys and gals like me. Now these times are gone and streaming took over. Anyway. I really would like to like Cs and I lindner do since it allows me to listen to my synced iTunes library in a meaningful way. A huge library needs the right tools to handle it and Cs still does that. So thanks for that. However, I don’t like the direction the app is heading with constantly changing and seemingly erratic UI choices that try to reinvent the wheel. That’s really not necessary because if Cs was just a copy of what Apple’s iTunes app used to be a few years ago, everything would be just fine. But for some unknown reason Mike seems to take pleasure in deconstructing well-proven features which is really a shame since the USP of Cs is really simple: an app that allows you to easily navigate your (huge) music collection and so helps you to enjoy it. Please, Mike, don’t try to improve things that are just fine the way they are. Personal wish: please bring (back) the shuffle by album feature. Thanks..Version: 6.2.1

Serious shuffle issuesIt used to be perfect, for a while the shuffle has been completely messed up. If you start a song, and then you turn on shuffle and then lock the screen(turn off the screen), the song will start again, and the songs arent even shuffled. If you hit shuffle and keep the screen on, the songs don’t shuffle either. If you wait till a later song and then turn on shuffle, it starts again with the original song you picked (like it starts over again), and then again doesnt shuffle. Not sure if I am the only one experiencing third, because after every update the release notes make it sound like everything is perfect. But ya I used to love the app and had to stop because of this issue, hopefully it gets fixed soon..Version: 4.1.3

Does Not Download MusicThis app was advertised as a way to download your music onto your phone instead of Apple Music which has turned that feature off. I bought this app so I could get music into my phone again and all it does is mirror the Apple Music App. I just want Music on my phone again. No benefit and waste of money..Version: 4.2.2

Version 6 ruined the appCaesium version 6 is completely trash with the removal of the ability to see all of the songs by a single artist in a list and has instead restricts it to a per album view. Might as well just use the Apple Music app now and save your self the download space..Version: 6.0

LockupsWould be 5 star, but for the occasional lockup, where the app just plain refuses to do anything at all. Only starts working again after I open the stock music app and play a song there. When I open CsMusic again it works fine for a few days. This happens on both ipad and iphone. Edit: Still no different. Constantly freezes. Returning to the stock music app and uninstalling this app. Reduced the rating as well..Version: 6.3.4

Patchy performance & bugs but otherwise nice appReally like the design and customisability of this app, right now it’s let down by two things though. 1. Performance is patchy, sometimes stalling when you’re scrolling through album lists (my music collection is large but on an iPhone 7 which I’d hope would cope okay - I don’t get similar problems on the stock Music app). 2. There is currently a bug where when you select a track to play, sometimes rather than appearing the ‘Now playing’ pane vanished entirely. As a result I have to rely on the control centre or stock Music app to then pause music, which is really poor..Version: 4.3

Nice while it lastedThis has been my music app of choice since Apple Music’s big redesign mire than half a decade ago. I still think it’s superior to the built-in app and any alternatives I’ve found, but this praise has a big caveat: the app appears to no longer be supported. There are several major issues that I’ve tried to report to the developer (punctuation breaks search, you can’t select artists or albums from search results) with no response, the “official” support page is a twitter account with no activity in the past year, and the developer website no longer exists at all. All apps lose support eventually, so I can’t complain too much, especially at this price point. I just wish the developer had made it clear he’d moved on so I knew to start hunting for an alternative..Version: 6.4.3

Works okMuch nicer interface than stock music app. I use it when I need landscape mode. However, I cannot use it as a replacement for the stock music app because it is much slower, the artwork and song name appear wrong very often and the app crashes occasionally..Version: 4.2.2
