Great appApr ‘22: Still loving the app. Is there a way to rewind or fast forward 15 seconds? Apr ‘21: just downloaded v6. After it being unusable for a while, I can use the app again! So glad I didn’t delete it. Well done. Don’t forget to tip, folks! Feb 16: Again, excellent app. One request: It would be nice to quickly see what was recently played. Now, you have to play a song, then touch the queue icon. Instead, I would like to have a Queue icon that can be placed on my bottom menu - I would get rid of the Artists icon, which I never use. Thanks for a great product. Edit Feb 8: Thank you for adding back in the convenient search field! Works great. Now, with the latest update I the fed/back buttons get stuck. Also, it’s sometimes hard to find the currently playing song - it randomly disappears from the bottom of the screen. Still loving the app! 1st review: Love it. But please add back the ability to search from any screen by pulling down to reveal the search bar. Searching now requires more steps than it did before. Otherwise, I love it. I switched over when I was no longer able to view lyrics in the apple music app. This app solved that issue, so I'm a fan..Version: 6.4.2

Almost perfect for me.Cs Music is a common sense approach to a music player. No bloat, no hipster style over substance, and everything where it should be. It gets out of the way of enjoying your music. Highly recommended! I have one tiny ask and I’ll give it five stars. Can you include the ‘repeat’ button as an option for ‘now playing’ in the settings? :).Version: 5.0.9

Well designed but critically flawedThis could be a great app. I love nearly everything about its design and UX. However the app immediately crashes when you use AirPlay to broadcast to an external speaker, which makes it unusable for me. This did not occur previously so I’m not sure what changed. Also this seems to have started happening around the iPadOS 16 release so there may be some interaction there. Until fixed, though, I have to revert to the native Music app. Update: After some experimentation, this issue seems to be specific to AirPlay with a HomePod Mini. The app behaves fine when I use a non-Apple speaker. The fault could well lie with the HomePod rather than Cs..Version: 6.4.3

Still going strongI was a massive Cs fan, but music streaming got me and I now don’t use it. But today my partner turns up with a CD and asks me to put it on Cesium. I tell her there’s no need to buy CDs as we have all the songs in the world! She says she still loves Cesium, and wants her new album on there. So there we go!.Version: 5.0.11

Cs Music Player is greatThis app is the perfect alternative to Apple’s clunky and unintuitive music app. It behaves very similarly to the music app of yesteryear; straightforward and to the point (with some added benefits!). I use Cs Music Player literally every day, and have been for the last 3-4 years (when it was called Cesium). It also can’t be understated how fantastic the developer is at communicating updates and development ups and downs with the app’s users. He is very transparent and always keeps us in the loop. The support is second-to-none. You won’t regret this purchase..Version: 5.0.6

Best library player on the iPhoneFirst off, this is an app that shouldn’t be needed, but does because a developer took the initiative to fix a problem that Apple created to promote Apple Music: the native Music app is a shadow of its former self when it comes to playing through the music library you’ve been investing time and money in for years. I went looking for an alternative to the native app and found this labor of love by a small developer who loves music and misses the glory days of the music/iPod app. The app for the most part looks and feels familiar and provides a great way to navigate your library and a great music player. The developer works hard to keep this updated and when there’s a bug (as with the current version) he communicates it clearly. He’s reachable by email and Reddit which is something that can’t be said for most apps. So download it and try it out, and send him some money to show your love..Version: 3.9.3

EssentialIf you have ever opened the Apple Music app and thought “this isn’t great for how I listen to music” then congratulations! You have just found you new favorite app! Cs Music Player does a great job of offering all those little special features: custom color themes, customizable play screen (including an option to show ratings!), optional icons, and best of all a responsive dedicated developer who clearly has a passion for music and how people listen to it. Don’t hesitate a second, spend the few bucks to get this app and you won’t look back. A wonderful replacement and a pleasure to use daily..Version: 5.1.5

Almost PerfectThe best, by far, music App available. Solidly supported and consistently great. A great improvement on the Apple Music Player. Handles my large iTunes Match (in the cloud) library with ease. A grid view of album art would be a nice addition though, especially on the iPad Pro..Version: 5.0.10

Snappy Happy!Only had this a few hours, but it’s immediately clear how much faster, leaner, nicer, and better than the stock music app this is. Even my gf was like, whoah, the scrolling really works! I love music, and I buy lots, in many formats, but I have zero interest in leasing cheese. Which is why this app is so blissful. And because the Artists list is no longer just a stack of [server_error] grey microphones! From the developer’s blog, he’s clearly a clever & conscientious guy, right down to the honor-box pricing, which I soon paid in full, and, well, my 8+ finally feels like a new phone. Don’t delay, download today. You won’t regret it. This is how you do music..Version: 3.9.4

Need helpHi Mike- Ive used your app for a while now, thanks. I love the option to rotate to a landscape view. However, now it keeps freezing and won’t play, even though I updated it at the app store. Any suggestions?.Version: 6.3.4

Absolutely fantasticI love this app, I used it for a long time because I preferred setting it up a bit like the old built in music app. With artist/album ect along the bottom rather then the confusing mess Music app has become. The design is satisfyingly clean and customisable. Stable as all heck and no annoying subscriptions. (Though you can send the developer a tip when you fancy supporting development in the settings menu) I briefly went back to the buit in music app, but it absolutely refuses to accept I don’t use Apple Music (streaming service.) I would be going into settings and disabling it several times a week. So I said screw it and came back to CS music, so glad I did. It’s got even better! The new activity’s section is really handy even though I don’t want it as the default. Now I’ve got the bottom toolbar set up as artist/albums/playlists/activities. Best of all worlds. The only thing I don’t like about this app isn’t the developers fault. You can’t set an album to pre download to your phone, say if your going somewhere without signal and want an album pre downloaded, but this is an OS limitation so ill be sending some feedback to apple to let third party’s do this on a regular basis. 😂 in the mean time you can just go into the music app and download everything there then come back to this glorious app..Version: 6.4.1

Great looking app that crashes when searching. This is how the apple Music app should look but it crashes whenever I try to search. So I search on the Music app and then use CS to rate the music as it plays. The CS 'Activity' screen is also useful to check the Playlists that have been updated during the recent Synch along with the songs and albums that have been added. Synching from my Mac has become increasingly flaky as the years pass..Version: 6.4.11

Best Replacement for the basic Music App I Could Ask ForI originally downloaded this app because I didn’t like how the normal music app looked after Apple Music got introduced. One of my favorite options, view all music by artist, had been removed. So I found this app to be my replacement and I’ve loved it since. It has all the features I want in a music app and it has a good UI too. Hands down my favorite part though is the developer support. This dev really knows what to work on first and is really good about communicating how the app is coming along. I have no clue what’s being changed about half my apps when I update them because they stopped including anything besides “Make sure to keep us updated and thanks for using our app!” Which doesn’t tell me at all if I should care whether or not there’s an update. This developer puts all the notes in the updates and I always get excited when there is an update since I’ll know exactly how the app is coming along and what is changing. 5/5.Version: 3.9.3

Perfect - now make an Apple TV versionThis is so great I have used it for years, it does everything Apple Music does but without the clutter, the intrusive ‘recommendations’, and showcased ‘pop’ music I would never listen to in a million years. Plus it keeps things like ratings that are much better than the dumbed down ‘love’. Please make an Apple TV version, Apple Music on Apple TV is just as annoying if not worse and there are no decent alternatives..Version: 6.4.5

Was a Good alternative to bad Music app; new version takes a step backwardIt's still a better app for playing music on an iPhone or iPad than Apple's Music app. I’m especially pleased that the developer has modified Cesium to take advantage of the larger screens of iPads. Most of my tracks were ripped from my large classical CD collection, with a lot of time and effort spent on making track titles complete and correct. I can see this info properly in Cesium. Update: what the heck happened to Playlist view? Before the latest update: the default view showed a proper list of playlists, not silly tiles with part of the title missing, which is the way Music app handles them (what are they thinking?). If you want to get back a SANE playlist view, pay attention to the list setting under the Playlists title, which offers the options of List or Grid. Unfortunately, I don’t see a way to kill the big clunky album art tile and title at he top of every playlist that takes up a third of my iPhone screen (portrait orientation). It takes up half the screen in landscape mode. Big waste of space! I’d love to be able to change that view to eliminate the image tile..Version: 6.1

Better than Music in iOS13I use this player whenever I get frustrated by the ios13 music app..Version: 5.1.1

BuggyI want to like this app, but it's pretty buggy. Sometimes when you press the home button or modify the queue, the song that is currently playing starts over. Sometimes when you add a song to the top of the queue, it doesn't play (it gets removed from the queue). Sometimes when you try to modify the queue, the changes don't get saved. Sometimes it hangs (I'm not talking about the iOS 11.2 lag, this is different) and sometimes it even crashes. It doesn't seem to update song metadata (e.g. 'last played' and play count) in a timely fashion. Songs that have just played still appear in the queue. If you add a long playlist (a couple thousand songs) to the queue, it reduces it to about 500 songs, I have no idea how it selects which songs to play when it does this. I've uninstalled and reinstalled the app and get the same results. I'm on iOS 11.3. Update for version 4.3: This app has gotten a lot better since the developer implemented workarounds for the Apple bugs. However, the Apple bugs still make it very difficult to modify the queue. Is there anything we can do to push Apple along? Post something on the feedback site perhaps? Shame on Apple for not fixing these bugs, they've known about them for a long long time..Version: 4.3

Great music playerLove the UI compared to itunes!.Version: 4.3.1

Music App for Those Who Liked iTunes 1.0Look, I have no problem saying I don’t want a new version of iTunes every week. I can’t stand the incessant fiddling that programmers feel is their right with all your favorite apps and programs...Yes, I’m not ashamed to say I’m old enough to remember them being called PROGRAMS!!! I could program the Apple ][e, and it JUST WORKED!!! So I don’t appreciate a new “updated” iTunes every three seconds, and it has a million problems every time. Never can they just fix all the problems, and leave it alone. That’s all I want. So HERE is an app that Steve Wozniak would have designed. It’s user friendly and it has good solid programming, like in the olden days...when computers started with a crank!!! Use this iPhone program application like you might put a record on an old Victrola or a wax cylinder on your Edison, and let it just WORK. This app does what Apple forgot was their best quality. It just works. Keep it up, CS!!.Version: 6.1.1

Shuffle ProblemsI’m back to loving this app. It seems that the shuffle mode got changed to “albums” somewhere along the line. I had to search for the setting, so I’m sure I didn’t do it (I didn’t even know it existed). It must have happened during an update. In any case, things are working fine again! Previous post: I’m very frustrated. When you swipe right on an artist’s name and select “shuffle,” it shuffles the ALBUMS, not the songs. So, if you want to listen randomly to all songs by a particular artist, you can’t. That’s new behavior, I believe, and has caused me to quit using what was once a powerful and reliable app..Version: 4.1.4

Fantastic music playerThis is how the default Music app should be- simple, clear and customisable. I’ve used Cesium for years and the new version 6 adds all the interface improvements and extra settings that I had wanted..Version: 6.0

Awesome.. and a questionBeen using this for a few years now. Much better handling of Artists vs Album Artists. Great UI. One question - there doesn’t seem to be a way to access the currently playing queue/playlist. Ie. If I’m playing an album and then use the “play next” or “add to queue” options on a track, how do I see the queue itself to edit or rearrange tracks..Version: 6.4.4

Saved the day for me.Review Update. Cesium 5- love that the star rating shows on individual song info, would be even better if they showed on the album track list too, or have I missed an option? Original review- Gives me back what IOS 10 music app took away - I can see what I want on one screen. I'd seriously considered ditching my nice new iPod touch 6gen and going back to my 5gen. A bargain..Version: 5.0.2

Cesium is what a music app should beI have been on Cesium now for about six months and am extremely pleased. I have over 4,000 songs on my iPhone 7+. The main reason I bought Cesium was to be able to control my music by "Artist" instead of "Album Artist" (which seems to be the only way Apple supports). Album Artist is typically something like "Various artists" when you have a compilation album like "Best of the 60s". On Apple if you try to scroll by artist for songs by Cream they will not show up if they all come from a compilation album. As many other Cesium reviews have pointed out, the interface is simple and efficient. Try shifting between artist, album and song on Cesium Vs Apple. Enough said... I love this app enough that I just gave the author the largest tip his app allows. I hope other users support him as well..Version: 5.0.5

If you don’t have or want Apple MusicIt’s great. You have to keep the original Music app for it to work, but just hide it in a folder. Instead of having radio take up a third of the bottom bar, it’s just artists, albums, songs and more (essentially setting). You only see the important things, none of apples filler. All your artists have a picture too, just an album, but better than a gray placeholder.. Also it’s much easier to arrange what’s playing up next or later. Just swipe left on a song and it’s one of two choices, up next or later. No need to scroll past delete this song or any of the other options. (Seriously why does Apple prioritize deleting your music over playing a song next) Anyways I’m really happy with this app..Version: 4.0.8

This is a good App (application)Are you an old fool who gets laughed at by the pretty folks who mock and deride you and draw a bright impassible line in the sand that says “here is an old fool that insists on storing MP3s locally, he is out of touch and his grave awaits a fool”? Yes? Then this is for you. It’s like iTunes before streaming. Which to me is like saying it’s like TV before you had to get hit in the head with a shovel every time you try to turn it on. Also, the in app purchase is a discretely buried option to support the developer with a voluntary donation. It works very well!.Version: 5.1.1

Just what I neededAll the navigability and ease of use of the original iOS Music app, with none of the forced social media nonsense, bloated online content, or clutter of the present day Music app that hides the most basic features under several layers of indirection. Cesium is instant relief for anyone who misses the simplicity and clean design of the old iOS Music app..Version: 5.1.6

Fantastic music app!!Slide, swipe, force touch - very slick usability missing in so many other music apps. And dark mode-like appearance is the icing on the cake. Regularly updated, always fresh. Highly recommend..Version: 4.2.2

Simply irreplaceableThe 6.+ version completely revamps and polishes this magnificent app. I've used it for years an have found it very useful in the past despite previous issues. The new version is so improved that I had to entirely rewrite my review and give it 5 star rating. Cs is now simply the best thing since sliced bread, amongst music apps for iOS. No comparison. Feature rich, aesthetically very pleasing, with unparalleled ability to sort out and play even the largest of music libraries (like mine - 12,000 songs). Most importantly, there are no bugs any more (not that I've noticed any as yet) - it works seamlessly. Let's hope Apple doesn't rewrite the iOS native music app to the point that it might affect the functionality of Cs again. Well done Mr Developer and thanks for giving us this wonderful tool! Super recommend!.Version: 6.2

A beautiful app falling short by an annoying lagging issue!!I have loved this app from the moment i downloaded it about a year ago. As a replacement to the stock Apple Music app Cesium is definitely the best on the market. Love the basic layout of the app, customisation of the app is a great bonus also (check out night mode). Being able to order my playlists by song title/ artist etc is a lovely touch and I have yet to come across another app which offers this feature. All the positives aside though there has been a major lagging issue for a while now, mainly when trying to do basic commands such as skip tracks and pause music. This really needs to be addressed as it can make using the app unbearable at times!!!!! I do however continue to use the app on a daily basis as the overall layout and simplicity of the app makes for a much better experience than the stock music app and customising the look of the app (including the apps icon colour) is a nice touch! PLEASE FIX THE LAG!!! EDIT ****lag issue fixed.... thanks !!! ****.Version: 4.0.3

Great player with a couple of kissing featuresIt is missing the ability of looking at the upcoming songs list.Version: 5.1.7

Good music app with some missing featuresPlease add the ability to add music files from the Files app if possible! And the ability to browse the Files app from within the app. And copy music files to the app via the share function. Would love to see these improvements, thank you! Keep up the good work..Version: 5.1.5

Great butIpad pro 3 12.9 split screen album art resizing is broken. When youre in split screen with cs on the left side and you try to click on the title to go full screen with cover art it resizes the art as if it was a single full screen app - so half of your cover art is hidden under your other split screen app on the right.Version: 6.4.2

So close to perfectEverything I wanted from an iOS music player except for one gripe I have, you cant sort the albums that show in the genre tab. It would be perfect if it had the same sorting options that the other tabs do but it has no options and just sorts by album title PLS FIX DIS.Version: 3.9.4

Elegant SolutionEver since IOS 10 came I’ve missed the old style user interface for my local music. (Seriously, what a mess the stock music app is now). This definitely scratches that itch. The option to alter the colour scheme is totally rad. Something I’d like added is the ability to customise the UI a tiny bit more, for example the size of list items, or the option to display albums in a grid..Version: 4.0.1

Great playerLove this app as a player. Better than Apple Music for my collection and works really well. Customisation is awesome! Only thing I would request is ability to add songs to playlists, this is the only thing I go back to Music app for..Version: 5.0.9

Amazing app!I've been using the app for a long time now as a replacement to the poor recent design choices of the built in music app. The interface in this one is much cleaner while offering most of the features I'd ever want in a music app. I really like how it is based on the older music app while still having room for customization from the color, to tab positions, to the function of some buttons, the layout of the Now Playing screen, and even the app icon. I recommend this player to anyone who uses music locally or purchases them on iTunes because this is a much better way to interact with it than the built-in app..Version: 4.0

Best music appThanks for bringing back the widget! Appreciate it & love the app.Version: 5.0.3

I must have tried a hundred music players...Seriously, I have tried so many it's not funny, but they all have flaws. Cesium doesn't! Well there's got to be something but its creator thinks of everything and he's constantly improving the app further. If there is anything missing he's probably about to add it before you've even thought if it! It's a really smoothly operating player with everything in the right place and easy to use, and with all those little refinements that make listening to your music that much more enjoyable. When it comes to things like editing and adding tracks to the queue it's second to none and I now use Cesium for my amateur home "DJing" instead of the twin deck DJ app I was using before. I'm also incredibly impressed by the developer's personal communication and how he listens to suggestions. Just one example - I had trouble seeing the artist name as it was in that illegible grey font that iOS also uses on the lock screen - so he's changed it to white, it's now very legible - and I'm very happy! Looking forward to seeing what new features are just around the corner :).Version: 3.5.1

Revising my evaluationRevising evaluation as I was complaining about missing features of swiping to add to next up play list and it’s back with latest version... The main feature I now miss the edit next up play list feature; I can understand why it was removed a long time ago, but I still miss it... a way to clear the next up playlist other than adding a song (and all the following songs) would be nice as I often do not resume play of the next up list after a pause as now feeling for another mood of music. Having to go to apple’s music app to do so is a drag... Other than that, app rocks as it easily beats apple’s too focussed on streaming music app in usability and beauty..Version: 6.1

Delightful, yet functionalI’ve been a happy user of Cs Music for years. It does its job incredibly well: fast, intuitive access to my music in the style of old iOS versions of Music. It never gets in my way, with a clear and intuitive design, and I rely on it as my daily driver music app. This app gets it right..Version: 6.4.10

Perfect for the carJust what I was looking for. My new car has a great phone holder built in on the top of the dash but only holds the phone in landscape orientation. Apple Music App is useless for this. Car manufacturers app also very poorly laid out. Cesium has solved all problems. Lovely clear simple interface. Thanks!.Version: 5.0.5

Name change...I don’t rate or review much, but I just gotta day something. While this is a really like music player with some features I do really like (you can change the icon color, and album art pictures for the artists was the whole reason I bought this) there are some things I don’t (no EQ at all) but it’s more now that it kinda changed. First, I liked the old name a lot. Cesium just sounded really good... Not that I hate “Cs Music Player” as a name, I just really hate looking at just “Cs” beneath the icon on the home screen. It’s a bummer... And it made me look for a different music player that might have features like an EQ. But I paid for this, and it still looks good internally. But the recent update with the name change introduced some crashes and bugs. So this was not a progressive good thing, and that’s why I’m leaving a review..Version: 5.0.6

Excellent alternative to MusicDoes everything required to navigate my music library and play tunes without Apple Music notifications and cloud file references that only clog up the interface..Version: 5.1.4

Shame on AppleThank you for saving us from the terrible, terrible built-in music app in iOS 10+. There are still a lot of us out there who believe in having a local, non-streamed music collection!.Version: 6.0

I Like It!I wanted a music player that's fast, fuss-free, looks & sounds good, and importantly, doesn't try to rope users into an overpriced subscription. I found it - and you have too, so grab it!.Version: 6.3.3

Always room for improvementWould vote 5 but don’t want the devs getting big headed. Love the app though does exactly what I wanted.....except... Because the app can interface with Apple Music, could a feature be added where (just like in the stock iOS music app) you can delete the currently playing track from your iTunes library. Otherwise when one of my 17k+ songs plays which I didn’t even know I had and it’s rubbish, I don’t want to have to switch to stock app in order to delete the app, would rather do it through Cesium. Thank you.Version: 4.2.1

Great appYou had me at hello.Version: 4.0.9

ExcellentExactly the way I want to access my music library. Highly recommended..Version: 3.9.3

GUI like the old iOS Music appCesium is a near-perfect app. The user interface closely resembles the old iOS Music app before Apple changed it, with one important and positive difference: When you close (not minimize) Cesium, your music continues to play. This allows you to close Cesium and switch to another music player app without interrupting music playback. Some of the other music player apps which are available today pause the music when you close (not minimize) the app. When you open another music player app, you can continue the song at the point where it was paused. The iOS Music app (the built-in app) fades out and *stops* the song when you close (not minimize) the app. Now there is “No song playing” so when you open another music player app you *cannot* continue playing the song at the point where is was stopped. This makes the iOS Music app (the built-in app) not my favorite thing. Do not uninstall the iOS Music app (the built-in app) because Cesium requires it to be present on your device..Version: 3.9.4

Great app, but super laggy on iOS10This app used to be fantastic, but with iOS10 it is *extremely* laggy. Scrubbing through a track is impossible and there’s at least a 5 second lag when clicking a new track. Wouldn’t bother until it’s fixed..Version: 4.0.1

Amazing app! Much nicer than the Music appI’m constantly frustrated by the default Music app. There are lots of little things that just get in my way and annoy me (such as how the main screen shows your most recently added albums, so I end up seeing the same few albums for months at a time). This app lets you reorganize the main screen with favorites, pinned songs, and most recently PLAYED instead of recently ADDED. I’m still exploring all the options this app has, but it’s so far ahead of the built-in Music app that I can’t believe I only just now found it. Totally worth the few bucks. (Also, I can’t tell if I love or hate the fact that it can tell you the total time you’ve spent listening to a particular song ha ha).Version: 6.4.8

Cesium 5 - Perfect!!!I originally went with Cesium because it was the closest thing I could find to the old Apple Music app before it went belly up with everything I didn’t want in a music app. I loved Cesium and especially enjoyed and got used to some of the added features; especially the queue management. As time went on, and Apple continued to make changes to how iOS handled music, I could see it was a real balancing act for the developer to try to balance app stability along with keeping features that users were accustomed to having, but at the same time features which were making the app unstable. The developer tried to balance it as long as he could, but in the end chose to have a stable app at the cost of losing some features. Although I enjoyed the old queue management and will miss it, I am thrilled and will gladly exchange it for an app that is now totally stable, not “buggy” and is lightning quick. Many thanks to the developer who truly loves his app and is working diligently to make it the very best it can be..Version: 5.0

Great classic music app.I love the app, but what happened to the swop gesture to switch between local and cloud music? That was the handiest feature ever..Version: 6.3.4

Nicer interface than Apple’s Music appThis App was highly recommended all over the net as an alternative to Apple’s Music app which has become a mess to use. Especially if you don’t use Apple Radio/Music streaming service. Cesium is much nicer. Controls are well laid out and easy to use. Hiding and showing your cloud library is one touch away - no need to look for any “downloaded music” section like in Apple’s app. Getting to your queue at any time is a one clock operation as is shuffle, track info/rating and repeat. Album art is nice and large and it looks beautiful. And you can also reorder, add and remove the tabs to your hearts content to have it set up as you like. There’s also dark mode and theming and various app icons to choose from. I’m so glad I found this. It’s what the Apple Music app should be. Sadly it relies on the default equaliser, so for albums where I need a proper equaliser and sound engine I use the Onkyo HF player app. But for everyday listening Cesium is easily the best!.Version: 4.0.8

Crashing/ no longer crashingLatest update crashes when I hit play on some of my playlists :( Edit: make that all playlists. Disappointed I payed for this app. Edit 2: Bug has been fixed, thank you 😍.Version: 3.9.2

Fantastic app.Love the app, so much better than the built in Apple app..Version: 6.2

Nice appBut it needs Equalizer.Version: 5.0.11

Way way way better than Apple appThis is incomparably better than the Apple standard music app, which seems to get worse every time they update it. If you are as frustrated with it as I am, try Cesium instead. I have had no problems with it freezing or hanging as some have reported..Version: 4.1.5

Incredible and irreplaceableLet's be honest here, the highly entertaining release notes alone (which anyone can view from the app store page) are well worth the cost of this app. The fact you get thrown in with that what is easily one of the most polished and functional local music (& iCloud music library if that's your thing) players is just a bonus. I've had so many moments using the default music app where I've thought "geez I wish this app could do [such and such]", and I've discovered that pretty much every single one of these features can be found in Cesium. I would recommend this app to anyone and everyone whose primary music source is local music or Apple Music. I do have a short wishlist of features that would make this already stellar app even better for how I use it though; -3d touch on a song to perform an action (configurable, e.g. show info, go to album, etc) -Swipe up on now playing screen to open queue, swipe down on top menu bar of queue to go back to now playing screen -Swipe sideways on mini player to switch between songs.Version: 3.9.3

Great App Small Issue With Icon ChangeLove this app it’s 11/10 and best music player on the App Store. There is a small bug I think at the moment though that isn’t letting me change the colour of the app icon - only a minor thing but a fix would be enormously appreciated!.Version: 6.4.4

Elegant and CustomisableI cannot recommend Cs Player enough. It is an absolute triumph of UX, customisability and elegance; things that have become increasingly rare in today's world of gimmick-bloated software. A+++. 10/10. Absolutely top banana. I've recommended it to all my friends and they're convinced I'm a shill, but I wish more software was like this..Version: 6.3.4

Much the same as MusicWorks much the same as classic Music once did - but does suffer from the same irritating (Apple based) problem of not being able to Remember Playback Position for songs - even when this is checked in Options on iTunes. Judging by the number of complaints online, if Cesium can develop a workaround, there would be a lot more Music App users moving over. And I believe that they are in fact in the process of doing so - wonderful!!.Version: 3.8.7

Apple should hire this guyThe app is certainly an improvement over the anaemic-looking, featureless Music app, with its clunky headers and awkward interface. To give just one example, Music is almost unusable with long song or album names found in classical music or jazz. Cesium handles these much better by scrolling the title faster when you tap and hold on the song. Why is such an intuitive feature beyond Apple these days? I had vowed not to get another iPhone as Music/iTunes are so nasty to use these days, but this app might have turned me. My only problem is the app can be a bit sluggish at times, particularly when playing a song from a cold start..Version: 4.0.1

GSo sad to hear how absolutely awful Apple are at playing nice with 3rd party devs. Can’t say if it’s distinctly better or worse being stable but lacking in features, it’s kinda both really. Either way, for the honesty and truth-telling, my review is going from a 2* to a 4* review. Only from truth can wisdom come. That and fully documented software processes ....Version: 5.0.5

I love this appIs it possible to convert folder in iTunes Windows into playlist?.Version: 6.4.4

Good, but used to be greatFirst started using this app two years ago and loved it. There have always been some glitches but they’ve been rather minor. After upgrading to iOS 11 the glitches have gotten more major. The most annoying glitch is the app controls will randomly freeze - music will still be playing but you can’t control anything. The only way I’ve been able to fix it is to force close the app and then reopen it. A couple of times I’ve had to restart my phone. Super annoying. The other really odd thing the app does is if I haven’t been playing music for a while, say a few hours, whatever song I play next will restart at some point in time during its playback. It’s only the first song, and it’s only once. After that playback resumes as normal. Even with those glitches Cs is far and away better than iOS’s music app..Version: 4.1.3

First ImpressionSo far tho app feels like the FIX that I’m searching for, but I’ll have to experiment a bit more before I can tell. My goal stems from the fact that my old iPod was a masterpiece in its industry, sadly with the discontinuation of the device it seems Apple decided to throw away what was good about its software too. First focus is being able to successfully shuffle an entire playlist to its completion without even 1 song repeated through its duration. iPod Classic could do this with no problems. What I like to see is the shuffle by artist and by albums... and so on in this app. That was a really nice feature in the old iPod. One thing I noticed, however, is that this app cannot shuffle the Playlist Folders themselves (a feature I used to death on my iPod. I like having full access to my music. The only other thing is that I cannot see the list of songs to see how they’re shuffled. I just want to confirm that it’s shuffled the whole playlist. As I experiment with this app I may write a follow up review..Version: 5.0.9

Better than Default LayerNice simple layout with decent amount of options. So far so good only complaint is I would like the sorting inside a playlist to be more comprehensive when showing all songs. I can’t sort by album inside a playlist without using a collection which is a bummer. Will rate 5 stars when fixed..Version: 4.3

The developer deserves a medalI opened the app for the first time and let out a sigh of relief. I could easily sort by albums/artists/songs/etc on the bottom tab with the click of a button. Sorcery. I literally forgot how much music I owned because the native music app has become so terrible and useless that's it's been years since I opened it. I'm currently enjoying my old favourites, my heart is full, my shoulders unburdened, and I'll definitely be tipping. Thank you!.Version: 5.1.6

Great App, Great SupportBeen using this for years over the stock music app. Great to see it still supported seeing as its only 1 person behind it..Version: 6.1.1

Solid iOS music library appAs someone with a large music library I’ve been building since I was a teenager, I require a music app that allows me to quickly navigate to what I want to listen to and Cs Music Player does it with a much better focus than the Apple Music app. Additionally, I appreciate the beautiful user interface that it isn’t bloated with features I don’t need. The way the now playing screen matches the UI color with a primary color from the album art, is tastefully done and gorgeous. It serves a fairly niche purpose for some people, but if you’re one of those people, this is one of the best apps in the store (and I feel like I’ve tried all the similar ones)..Version: 6.3.4

Better than Apple’s stock appIt’s nice to have alternative to Apple’s clunker, that also doesn’t ask to constantly sign up for Apple Music. Works well for me..Version: 6.2.1

What music player should be likeThis is what Apple’s built in music player should be, instead of the confusing mess it is..Version: 5.0.1

Great concept, but some annoyancesI’m not a long-time user like many of the people who seem disappointed with the latest update. The UI *is* a little unpolished, but for me, it does the job simply and well, giving me access to my library and navigation on the bottom of the screen without the Apple Music nonsense in the default app. The main annoyance I’ve found is the delay when skipping forward or backward—it takes a solid half a second, and this is on a pretty new phone. There also doesn’t seem to be a way to see the play queue. Other than that, it does what it says on the tin, so it’s definitely an echelon above the default music player..Version: 6.1

A lovely alternative to Apple Music PlayerNow that the Apple Music Player is broken, bug ridden (scrambled cover art on playlists anyone?) and clearly de prioritised, its time to switch to an alternative music librarian and CS Music is about as good as you can get. I wish it had a “Recently Added” tab showing my latest purchases and new playlists. Also would be nice if the album art in list-view was a bit bigger. Finally the artist view would be nice if artwork showed as a grid vs. list (like Apple player). Elegant and refreshing and without scrambled playlist artwork, proving this issue is fixable by Apple but they wont do it... it’s a vain effort to drive us to Apple Music streaming. CS is the way, well done guys!.Version: 5.0.11

I love this app. The stock music app is a joke and Cesium has all the features I love.Sort features alone make this my favorite ios app. Can't recommend it more!!! Carplay support would be a dream!.Version: 4.2.2

Just like old times :)This app has relpeaced the in bulit iOS 10 music player for my music needs, and do not regret a single second of it :) Only minor complaints I can find is that albums with exactly two singles don't queue the two singles together, instead I have to manually switch the song when the first one finishes. Another minor complaint is that I think that my battery life seems shorter when using this app. Other than those two minor complaints, I would recommend this app 10/10 for music lovers! Please fix the first issue I mentioned, thanks for the app anyways! :) :).Version: 3.8.3

A music player that just WORKS!This app does what its supposed to, no fuss, no unexpected shuffling or complicated controls....not the first Ive tried, but the best so far! Recommended - especially if you like classical music that plays perfectly with no dropping jumping / between track changes..Version: 3.9.4

SuperstarYour dedication to this app is incredible, and this app is a life saver. You deserve to be paid for all your work, myself and others I’m sure would be more than happy to pay for an update..Version: 5.1.7

Exactly What I Was Looking For!I was desperate for a way to have the functionality of the iPod classic back, being able to view all the songs by a particular artist and sorted by album. I thought this was too specific but this has it!! Along with many more sorting options. Perfect~.Version: 6.2.1

Best Music app so farAfter trying 30 or so music apps, I decided (based on the many positive reviews) to make a blind purchase. I’m glad that I did. The program actually does live up to the hype. There is however one bug, which I hope will be addressed. Let’s say that you are adding several albums by (to give an example) The Beatles. If some albums are listed as “The Beatles” while others are listed as “Beatles”. It’s understandable to have two separate listings. Unfortunately, after correcting the metadata, we get to separate listings for the same group. In other words, instead of the app showing “The Beatles” and “Beatles” ... after making corrections, it’s two separate headings of “Beatles” and “Beatles” (rather than the corrected metadata residing within the same heading). The big aside, this is a great app and I have no regrets..Version: 5.1

Great... easy to use appInterface is easy to use and easy to look at.. great alternative to Apple Music app. Would love to see some EQ settings in the future..Version: 4.2.2

SolidThanks to the dev for explaining where to enable rating stars - I use Cesium to quickly rate my library. 🙌.Version: 5.0.3

Best music playerAbsolutely the best music player.....⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 5.0.6

Apple Music Should Hire This Developer! This is the music player I’ve been looking for since Apple destroyed their stock player in iOS 10. Cesium is a beautiful player and has even more features than Apple ever had. Simple interface, with plenty of customization options. I can see my album artwork again! It also gives you the view to see metadata on each song that Apple never exposes. I love the option for disabling auto-lock when you want to have the album artwork on display at all times. This works well with the gestures built in to the app that let you skip, re-play and pause. Playlist folders are displayed the way you organize them in iTunes; other players don’t display that way. Landscape mode was a nice surprise too. I’m not much of a streaming music user but it can also play your Apple Music. However, if you have a lot of local music you’ve carefully collected over the years, this is a must have app..Version: 4.0.1

Almost perfectI love this music player! I can't say enough good things about the excellent UI, the dark mode, the player controls. This is the UI I wish the default Music app had. If you have been using iOS since the original iPhone came out you will remember the much simpler Music app or iPod app as it was called in the beginning back when we still had iPod's This app feels like a modern take on that style of Music app and to put it simply "it just works" My only minor complaints are sometimes there is a significant delay when I pause or resume or skip a track. I've encountered this in a few other music player apps that use the Apple Music library and I get the feeling it has something to do with the DRM protection in Apple Music files and the fact that some songs need to be buffered to stream while other tracks are already downloaded. Still sometimes the freezing crashes Cessium. Also I kinda wish the night mode had a pure black option for the iPhone X..Version: 4.0.1

Like the App, update still needs some workBesides the comments some reviewers have posted below about feedback concerning navigation, look and feel, I do like the App. Particularly because it stays basic and doesn’t try to compete with Apple Music. That App is NOT what you should be looking to emulate! It has taken so much out of users hands and forced a different way to think about your music. If you are like me and own your music versus stream, forget it. Apple doesn’t care about us, only streamers. That said I use Dark Mode on my phone and when I do whatever view I have selected on the bottom (Artist, Album, etc.) that one disappears and you only know you have selected it because you can’t see it. I suggest a light grey so it’s still visible or something..Version: 6.2.1

Thanks for the horizontal volume bar!!Finally it’s here, the horizontal volume bar, been waiting for this and really appreciate it. Overall, beautiful design as always!.Version: 5.0.10

My music onlyJust begun with this app , but pretty sure it will be my go to music player .. just my music and playlists when I want them.Version: 6.3.2

Best Music player there is. Simple. Clean. Easy to use.Have used CS for the past few years now. A simple easy to use music player unhindered by Apple’s current policy of pushing Apple Music. CS harkens to the old days of classic iOS deign that equally prioritises function as well as form. Small request: Would it be okay to get an option to hide the volume bar? I use the side buttons and would rather prefer to hide it when swiping between songs. Thanks!.Version: 6.4.1

Great music player without the garbageFar better than the stock Apple Music player if all you want to do is play locally saved music. There’s no streaming radio stuff or iTunes constantly trying to cram its ads in your face..Version: 5.0.6

Works with podcast playlistsI have an extensive and organized podcast setup which syncs well with my iPod, but as those are now phased out (thanks for killing those Apple !), I am grudgingly migrating it all to the iPad, only to discover Apple doesn't want you to do it that way (thanks again Apple ! ... seriously, I'm getting sick of their heavy handedness) ... Anyway, Cesium DOES allow podcast playlists to sync to iPad. (thanks Cesium... REALLY 😎) Tech podcasts are hugely important for my professional development, and being able to listen to them on commutes is very important to me. And I live in a part of the world where constant connectivity isn't feasible. Anyway, let's me keep staying in the Apple abusive relationship a little longer, I guess..Version: 4.0.8

Great functionality for what Apple allowsLooks great - dark mode, I can read full track names at last, can see and adjust my star ratings!.Version: 6.4.2

Great Playlist optionsThis app is full of things that Apple never integrated in their native music app, which is sometimes frustrating. But this app is a saviour! You may take it without fear, you’ll discover how Apple is sleeping on his application compared to this one. (Even though Apple did put some new stuff recently they are still behind this one) Great work dev..Version: 4.1.5

The Best Music PlayerI’ve tried a lot of different Music Player apps out on the market and I can honestly say this is the best one. What really stands out to me is all the control that is implemented over your music. My favorite component about this app is the ability to go down a shuffled queue and quickly pick what will play next. However, it’s not yet perfect though I believe it’s on its way. The biggest issue is stability. Lots of freezing and overall slowness sometimes. I believe if the developer made this app independent from the stock app that it would run much smoother. Also if you could find it in your heart to throw in a cross fader functionality at some point that would be amazing. Other then that though this app is still the best out there and I praise it everyday!.Version: 4.0.10

Brillant!Apple Music is a mess and makes my anxiety worse, it’s information overload and the fact they try to get you to join Apple music at every opportunity is annoying. This is simplified and more like how it was originally. I just want to listen to my music without all the another annoying stuff and can do that with this app. Thank you..Version: 6.4.1

Simple, easy, no BSExactly what I want for navigating my music collection. No stupid pictures taking up most of the screen..Version: 3.1.2

Simply the BestI’ve been using Cs as my go to music player and it has replaced the Apple Music app on my Home screen for 5 years and counting. It is perfect for playing your local library with all the sorting and playing options you could want. For me, it is sorting albums (and thus songs) by artist in release date ascending. If you do have an iTunes/Apple Music library it will happily display and play that too, if you want. It is a nicely polished and enjoyable app. Highly recommended..Version: 6.4.1

Still great but I miss some thingsThis is a great alternative to the UI for the default Apple Music app for iOS. I find it a real PIA to move up and down what amounts to a strictly tree view of my music. With Cs you can directly access artists, albums, playlist and songs lists directly. For me, this makes playing what I want when I want it much easier. I’ve been using it for years and it used to be called Cesium. Two things I miss are: 1. Stay where I put you, please. When I leave app and come back later, I want to go right back to the screen where I left off. It used to do that. Now, it seems refresh back to the default “artists” screen like social media apps annoyingly refresh. 2. The app used to allow direct manipulation of the music queue. Now it will let you add to the queue, but if you want to change the queue (ie re-order it) you have to go to the Music (Apple) app. I still use it daily and like it, though. I gave it 5 stars, and it really isn’t that. But I’d say 4 stars..Version: 5.1.6

Great but..In the songs list, it shows (Example) Billie Jean Michael Jackson - Unknown Can I make it so it removes the unknown with adding extra properties to my music files. Is there a setting or can you make a toggleable button that allows me to disable that Unknown bit of the description?.Version: 5.0.10

Normally 5 stars; last 2 releases broken.Apple ruined their basic iOS music player app when they used it as a gateway to sell their streams and music downloads at the expense of a streamlined user experience to simply let you play music files you have on your device. Cesium came along and fixed that. But these last 2 release versions freeze and crash just about any time I load up a track to listen to..Version: 6.0

Fantastic AppGreat app. It would be made even better by adding the possibility of viewing playlists by album. Is this possible I wonder? I can do it on the MacOS version of the Apple app but not iOS. Would be a massive benefit for this app if possible. —- Thanks for the reply Mike. I see it now. Fantastic 👌😀 Still loving this app. Use it all the time. Thank you 🙏.Version: 6.4.5

This is greatAs a window into iTunes music, CsMusic is so much cleaner and more straightforward. Well worth the price..Version: 5.0.6

Almost perfect for me2 things missing for me are firstly the album art colour changing the background of the app as you play. The default music app used to have this but Apple removed it, unfortunately(in iTunes). Another music app I use has this feature and it it is a really cool feature that personalises playing experience. I hope the developer can include this feature as an option in a future update. The other thing is having a native ipad app. Blowing up the iphone app looks burly and discourages me from using it. Otherwise, I am very happy and it is my goto music app for my iPhone currently..Version: 5.0.9

Brilliant!Excellent app, exactly what I was looking for. Apple’s somewhat equivalent had got so dreadful I’d stopped using it but this one hits all the marks. It’s essentially for those of us who have a curated library and simply want to engage with it in a pleasant way. It’s configurable and looks good too with changeable themes alongside a design aesthetic the way Apple used to be before going to the dark side. Highly recommended..Version: 6.4.11

Sofar sogoodHas the features it claims..Version: 6.3.2

FantasticExactly what I was looking for!!! A music lover! and I love this app!!! Could you please add an option to toggle swiping left/right when adding to playlists/up next?.Version: 4.1.5

Awesome appGreat app, but there’s a bug with the current version. - When I swipe right on an artist to shuffle their songs, it begins to shuffle my entire music library. Feature request: - Can there be a toggle to disable the alphabetical scroll and the subsequent alphabetical dividers for genres and artists. I don’t have enough to warrant alphabetical grouping, and it’s just eating up screen space. Awesome otherwise! Thanks.Version: 5.1.2

It’s goodThis is a pretty good app. It does what it says it does. I have been using it for a couple of weeks and am generally happy with it. What prevents me from giving it 5 stars is the lack of ability to download songs from within this app. You must go to the apple music app to do this. And also not being able to show only downloaded songs/ albums/ playlists. This would be very helpful when i’m travelling and have to watch my data.Version: 6.3.4

SolidMike—why does music keep playing even when i close the app?.Version: 5.0.4

Brilliant player this is what Apple Music app should beLove this player the ease with how I can create my own quick playlist is a joy to use, Apple could learn a lot from this player Well worth the price and the developer keeps it supported..Version: 4.3

This is the music player to useThis is a brilliant music player. Sharp, well presented, smart interface, effective and the author Mike has a brilliant sense of humour which strictly speaking is irrelevant but all adds to the experience. My use is probably more rudimentary than most, I wouldn’t use most of the features available, but I find this a much nicer app for the most part than the standard Apple one and glad I found it..Version: 4.3

Love this app so much!!Been using this app for a couple years now. The developer is so dedicated and puts so much into making it great. I love that I can use a widget for the app to give star ratings to songs while I’m on the go that I can sync with my iTunes on my computer when I get home. I love being able to customize the colors of the background and the controls. And I love that I can once again click an artist name and see the list of their albums instead of a cluster mess of songs to have to scroll through like the more recent versions of apple’s stock music app. Cesium is basically just a “skin” for the stock music app, so anything you do with that automatically works backs and forth on Cesium. You can even play a song in the stock app and the switch over to Cesium and take it from there. Cesium is just a drastically improved and customizable user interface for the stock music app. So it works seamlessly with iTunes because it’s really just controlling the stock app..Version: 5.1

Yes!Thank you! Every since Apple Apple took away the ability to skip to the next song etc, I’ve been looking for a replacement. I think I just found it… at least for music..Version: 6.3.2

Great AppThe best app for you to have a classic style mp3 on your iPhone. I’ve been using it for a year and a half now and haven’t looked back! I love album artwork and I love for the song viewer how it uses the maximum space on your phone unlike the Apple Music app! Similarly, the only thing I would improve is being able to change the size of the album covers on the alphabetical list albums list. Getting to toggle between small medium large would be great! I really like how you have the ability to customize your settings in this app!.Version: 4.3

Great! Issues to be fixed soonAbsolutely amazing! I’ve used Cesium as a replacement for the gross-looking and difficult-to-navigate Apple Music app on iOS for about a year, and it has been great. The interface is much cleaner and easier to use; it is very easy to organize everything as I want, and it is extremely customizable. I would compare Apple’s Music app to Apple OS Mountain Lion and Cesium to any Linux distribution; they both kind of get the job done, but one is much more efficient and easily editable. I have had MANY issues recently with delays and the mini-player, but the developer just mentioned that iOS 11 problema will be fixed soon and are on Apple’s end. I trust they will be fixed very soon. Looking forward to more Cesium updates and an iPad version!.Version: 4.0

Let’s you navigate and listen to your music without getting in the wayThis app simply Let’s you navigate and listen to your music without getting in the way. It is able to play your music already in your Apple Music database without you having to import it all like some other players. Apple Music app was good 12 years ago and apple have been making it worse ever since - if your fed up with apple trying to sell you stuff and changing the app navigation all the time try this app instead..Version: 6.3.4

One of the best Music Players on iOS!At first the app was a bit sluggish, but I believe Apple opened up some sort of settings or APIs and allowed developers to utilize it properly. This developer didn’t hesitate and now the app runs like butter. Apple Music support, amazing UI, customizations, settings. This app absolutely destroys the Apple Music app. Can recommend to EVERYONE. Would recommend to EVERYONE..Version: 5.0.6

Best music appBest music app.Version: 4.3.1

Very nice app except for one (minor) thing...I’ve been using this music player for a few years now. The #1 reason I bought the app in the first place was because the album art filled the entire width of my phone. Apples music app used to do that too, but when they changed it a few iOS versions ago, I was annoyed. I like my album art to be as big as possible. And since they are always a square picture, having it full the entire width is the only way to maximize the viewing size of it. Now with Cesium, that IS the reason I bought the app in the first place, because the developer brought back that UI element and it filled the entire width. With the recent updates, however, I notice that there is how a border around my album art, effectively make it smaller. My phone is already small compared to the large Pro Max phones.... If the dev would simply change it to again fill the entire width of the phone, I would change my rating to 5 stars. *edit* After using this app for a few more days, I have come to really enjoy it. The interface is cleaner than the old version, and it seems to run extremely stably. Despite my comments above about the album art, after these few days, I now find that I don’t mind it as is. It’s very aesthetic with the way the background changes color based on album artwork colors. Very nice update after all..Version: 6.2

IPod Touch 7th Generation: odd issue with skipping time stamps in some songsFirst of all, I love this app. I got it lost year as I often listen to songs with lyrics up while constantly rewinding and fast forwarding by dragging the music bar. However, as of this update, it only seems some songs work properly like this. On some songs it simply doesn’t seem to work. It happens on enough songs it’s becoming a problem. My iPod is fully updated. If I can’t easily listen to my music in a way that has been possible for over a year... I need to downvote. Will rate 5 stars when fixed!.Version: 6.0

The best music appI hated the new apple music app this solves the problem THANK YOU !!!!!.Version: 3.8.7

Better than Apple Music. After years of telling Apple of its musics app’s lack of functionality post-iOS9 and drawing their attention to bugs that they never fix 8 thought I’d give this a go. I now use it as my go-to music app on my iPad and iPod (yes I still have one). You can queue tracks, there’s album art for every act and a night mode. Far more reliable that the stock music app and easy to use..Version: 5.0.1

Absolutely indispensableWith Apple's Music app becoming ever more awful and inscrutable with every release, Cs Music is a breath of fresh air..Version: 6.4.11

Missing the highlightI love this app, but a few weeks ago I noticed the song playing is not highlighted anymore and it makes hard to find in my list when am scrolling fast. If could bring it back I would be happy.Version: 6.4.1

The BestWhen i search for a artist and i dont have that artist instead of saying not found it crashes the app Thanks for your quick reply. Apart from the above search bug which i know you will resolve your app still remains the best music playing app in the app store..Version: 6.2.1

Great App - with LandscapeFinally found an app with Landscape mode for the player. One comment would be is that the album artwork should be bigger in landscape mode. No need for the volume and the track progress to take up the space they do..Version: 6.4

Go ahead and get it_-_-_-Review Pros: Cesium is exactly the type of app I wanted since I don't use Apple Music service. I play my own local music, and this allows me to do that easily without all the extra steps the built-in Music app forces me to do to avoid all the streaming and service options. The playlists and playcounts from iTunes are all honored, and there are even options for controlling the queue that are nice to add. Cons: The app does leave music playing when quit, which the developer claims is by design. I'd like it to stop music when quitting, but it's easily remedied by the use of the music controls found when swiping the screen up. In a similar vein the app frequently gets out of sync with the play/pause button in the interface, forcing you to use those same music controls to get music playing again when the app won't. The documentation is out of date, showing screenshots which aren't from the current version. It claims the app will shuffle albums, but the steps aren't possible in the current UI. Overall, a strong contender to completely replace the built-in Music app, just needs some fine-tuning. Well worth the $1.99 price tag, especially when considering it's a one-man (or very small) shop..Version: 4.0.8

So much better than Apple’s appThis app has so many powerful features for playback that are missing from Apple’s usability nightmare of an app where the primary concern seems to be to push people towards Apple Music as firmly as possible. There are some things it can’t do due to limitations imposed by IOS, but everything it can do it does well..Version: 5.0.10

For album listenersYou can browse by genre > artist > album! I still listen to albums, for I am old, and the stock music app is just not designed to do that. This one is. It is a godsend..Version: 6.4.4

👌🏻PLEASE FIX THE SEARCH TAB! 🙏🏻 It is literally taking 30 second for the search to finish and sometimes it freezes. This is the only thing that would make the app 5star. Please developer update! It is such an excellent app!.Version: 5.0.10

Good UI, annoying bugsThis app is much better organized than Apple Music, but it has some annoying bugs. The worst of them all is the tendency to reset the repeat play mode (no repeat, repeat all, repeat one) seemingly at random. After poking around it seems like it forgets what you last set it to when you kill the app, restart the phone, or - sometimes - switch from playing playlists to playing albums. When it does this, it defaults back to whatever Apple Music app was last set to. The workaround is to start Apple Music and change the repeat play mode there to your preferred default (e.g., repeat all). Since I did that, I no longer have the app randomly revert to repeat one!.Version: 6.4.2

Much better than Apple; needs optimizationsEver since Apple ruined their much beloved music app in recent iOS releases, I’ve been searching for something to replace it. I heard about Cesium but never tried it; I finally made the purchase yesterday. It’s much better than Apple’s music app. Square album thumbnails (so sick of this round/circle photo fad), less white space between album and song entries make this a great design, close to the original Apple app. Lots of customizations. HOWEVER: the app stops responding to button presses.. like hesitation. If you keep hitting the next song button or pausing/playing frequently I’ve found that the app pauses (music doesn’t stop). Try pressing the repeat button over and over.. after several presses it gets stuck. If the dev can resolve this then it would be an A+++ app..Version: 3.9.4

Great App for Classical MusicCesium gives the user control over the metadata in their library in a deeper way than the other apps I’ve used and researched, and it’s amazing to finally be able to access the metadata of all the music I’ve purchased over the last 20 years. ‘Classical Mode’ is my favorite feature, as it allows users to organize a given genre by Composer. For users with large digital collections of classical music who have been ignored by mainstream music apps, this app is for you! I have one suggestion that would help users access their metadata even more effectively: the option to sort by Groupings instead of Albums. Currently, the app allows you to ‘randomize groupings’, so the ability to harness this metadata is already built-in. The organization process is currently structured as: Genre>Composer>Album>Song. I suggest an option be given to structure the organization like this: Genre>Composer>Grouping>Album>Song. For example: This would be useful for Classical Music libraries where the user wants to see multiple recordings of ‘Swan Lake’. The current organization requires the user to hunt and peck through album titles to find ‘Swan Lake’, if it is not in an album title. Other than that minor feature request, thanks for a great app!.Version: 5.0.10

ExquisiteI could weep at how beautiful this app is. Like something from an alternate universe where Apple wasn't degrading the utility and usability of the music player for local files, in a seemingly passive-aggressive attempt to herd users into paying for cloud-based music streaming, Cesium evolves the iOS5 Music player. It's an app for people who enjoy *listening* to music they already own, rather than "discovering", "connecting with" or any other superfluous buzzwords that dominate the discourse on music. Cesium plays your music from the standard device music library, and keeps its paws off your network connection. It is THE perfect music player..Version: 3.8.3

Outstanding - a audio gemThis guy is dedicated to fixing Apple’s woeful Music app. This app is a labour of love and while some may nit-pic on features it is limited by iOS 11 and related APIs as far as I understand. The main reason it is on my home app screen is due to a few key features: 1) Fav Playlists - I have a few I like to access regularly and this favouriting of them puts them front and centre 2) Star Ratings - easy to add and see, and they sync with iTunes and Music app no issue 3) Dark Mode - so much nicer to look at and a boon for my OLED sporting iPhone X And overall is it just me, but a prefer a music player that doesn’t have any wasted space and the font in Cs is a nice compact size that makes this my go to app for music playing. Looking forward to the next .1 release of this recently re-coded masterpiece!.Version: 4.0.1

Don’t put up with Apple’s Music app, buy thisIt’s a very simple thing. I have over 30 thousand tracks on my phone. Over a thousand artists. A few dozen genres. Apple’s Music won’t let me sort be genre and then artist. Cesium does. Quickly. Worth the money just for that. It’s also quite nice for artist pictures to match the artist. Apple Music is very hit and miss. Usually it’s blank, occasionally it’s someone else entirely. Cesium picks an album cover to represent an artist. Sometimes the simplist solutions are best. Lastly, Cesium gets regular updates with useful things. Rather than whatever matches Apple’s current business model..Version: 5.0.3

Albums, no! Lyrics, Yes…I'm so happy this app allows me to see artists' songs without first looking at albums because truly albums mean nothing to me. On the default iOS app I'm obliged to tap in and out of albums to play different tracks, with Cs Music player an artist's tracks can be shown and played without the useless intermediary step of looking at albums. This was possible in the default music app in iOS 6 and before. I'm also glad the app shows lyrics, on top of the cover art just like in iOS 6. Beyond that there are some other subtle features, like being able to see the info: year, track number, length, etc..Version: 5.0.10

Swipe to change tracks plus portrait or landscape plus loads more…Bought this app in first place mainly because you can swipe left or right to change tracks, plus if you turn phone the view changes to landscape then back to portrait if you turn it 90° again. Apple Have ruined their Music App from iTunes of years ago. So nice to have a developer realise what people actually want from an app and deliver it. I have thousands of actual music files rather than cloud based music, and this app allows me to interact with them in a far easier way. I realise it is more of a ‘skin’ for Apple Music, but the developer really has done great job with it. Just donated more money to hopefully allow development to continue. I’d hate to have to lose this app..Version: 6.4.12

Great appFell out of love with Cesium during the Big Lag days thanks to Apple. Recently got back into it, using it mainly for my iCloud music library. I have a very large library on iCloud and this seems to make Cesium crumble where there’ll be large delays each time the app is opened. I don’t have this issue with the vanilla Apple Music player. I hope this lag will be ironed out at some point. Otherwise it’s a sleek and beautiful player for an extremely good price and album shuffling is just awesome..Version: 4.1.1

Best music appAs someone who likes to buy music to support the artist but also to have a local music library, this is the best music player for iOS. It’s how the built in music app should be…clean and straight to the point. I don’t want a radio, recommendations, ads, or anything else they think is innovative. I just want a clean and simple way to play my music..something that doesn’t need any innovating. This app is what I miss from the older versions of iOS..Version: 6.4.3

Almost thereGreat overall music player. Much better than the Apple stock player. Two things holds this back from a 5 star review. 1) search function doesn’t work. The search button disappears and I can’t search. 2) playing queue is inconsistent. Sometimes it remembers where I left off listening and sometimes not. I have to go to the Apple Music app to remind it where I left off. Clarification: the search tab doesn’t disappear. I can type a search but nothing comes up. The keyboard at the bottom can’t be hidden and I can’t switch back to another tab. I have to close the app, restart ios, or delete the app to play music again..Version: 5.0.6

I LOVE ITSlick as a goose. Also can show my notes (in “lyrics”) to provide a more seriously curated collection. Best music player app I’ve tried by far. Gives what I want without idiot suggestions of radio stations and playlists. But if you want to fool around “settings” offers an ample playground..Version: 6.4.1

Still the best..... most-elegant, most marvellous... mouse organ, in all the world. Elegant & simple, yet flexible, interface in a way Apple have elided /wilfully-forgotten since c 0S8- but its all just there in CS. A thing of simplicity, and a joy to use - - In sharp contrast to the *utter* mess of apple music. Bagpuss approves; even Professor Yaffel, the carved wooden book-end, concedes: yes, yes; yes!.Version: 6.3.2

Great app!The app is great, much better than Music, specially for those of us that have offline music and don't rely on Apple Music. A couple of things I'd like to see added in the future would be: Custom 'Now Playing' themes. Not a huge fan of the current one, too simple and it's missing key features such as a 'show lyrics' button. For me it is not clear which of my songs have it as I'd have to open each individually to find out. Add a shuffle all button on the artist page and shuffle button on the album page. I know this can be achieved by holding on each section but it'd be more user friendly with a dedicated button..Version: 6.4.4

My preferred player, but still some work to doVersion 4.01: Finally an iPad-respecting implementation! I don’t like to use iPhone-only apps on my iPad, as I prefer to use landscape mode. Thank you. I’m learning to get around in this version, and one thing that should be easier is shuffling the songs in a genre. If I select the Rock genre, I see a list of albums, so I tap Show All Songs. Then I have to view the info for a song and finally tap the Shuffle icon. I would like to see a Shuffle All Songs option at the top of the Genre page, as on the main unfiltered Songs page (and at the top of all song listings, actually). I also await a fix for the play/pause delay problem. I’ll update this review as things change..Version: 4.0.1

Great app - the best I could find after manyHas more features and a more committed to perfection developer than any other I could find..Version: 6.0

Great App - Dark ModeHey there! This is a great app and I have been using it for almost 2 years. During that time one of my favourite features of the app was the ability to enable a dark mode within the app itself. However with one of the recent updates, the app no longer has the dark mode option. In order to make the app dark the phone has to have dark mode enabled in system settings which is something I prefer to keep off for the rest of my apps. If this could be added back into the app that would be amazing! Otherwise, great app and keep up the good work!.Version: 5.1.1

Far better than the rest and that includes AppleJust try it. If you are not loving it you can ask for a refund through Apple..Version: 5.1

Just What I’ve Been Looking ForI’ll try to keep it simple, since there is so much one can say about an app that contains so much power and flexibility within such a simple and elegant interface. It does all the basics very well, but for me it’s a few of the deeper features that make all the difference. The three things I value most in Cesium are: 1) The ability to specify a genre (or genres) to sort by composer - a wonderful approach for viewing classical music; 2) The ability to view detailed info about songs, such as composer(s) and comments - one tap tells me who wrote the song I’m listening to; and 3) The ability to tag multiple genres in iTunes that sort out in Cesium as separate genres - artists or albums or songs can at last appear in two or more genres. No other app I’ve seen has even one of these features. Now that I am using Cesium, I am inspired to go back to my desktop iTunes library and tweak my tagging knowing it will enhance my listening enjoyment on my iPhone. What a great job - well done!.Version: 4.0.1
