✓ Great app but needs more stabilityIt doesn’t do it every time but sometimes mid project I’ll leave the app via multitask and I see the Pixelmator canvas go black and I lose the project. Also one quick edit: can there be a version of the a-b line that doesn’t start in 45 degree angle? Either vertical or horizontal? ✓ Great with Apple PencilIn an ideal world, I would like an app with raw processing capability that is affordable, but for working with JPEGs this does a decent enough job. I work on my images first in the free version of Lightroom Mobile which has a greater range of features that can be used globally. I then move the image to Pixelmator for all the 'local' changes - e.g. sharpening, blurring, cloning or repairing, which are where the Pencil strengths really come into their own. I am now looking at Affinity Photo as this seems to offer the raw processing at a reasonable price on an iPad..Version: 2.3.1

✓ Very powerfull image editor, with some minor flaws.This is by far one of the best image editors I have used. It does however have a little room for improvement. The tools are very intuitive and simple to use, but with enough complexity to make them capable of most tasks. The touch up tools are so good, compared to other apps I have used, and I particularly like the colour adjustment, with rgb histograms and in-image curves, you can get very precise results. With regards to flaws, most notable for me is the location of the undo button. There are two buttons in the top left corner: Image - which takes you to your save location to select which image to work on (in doing so, it automatically saves your current picture), and undo. In effect the save button is right next to the undo button! This has led to more than one occasion (admittedly due to my own bad aim) where I have effectively lost my work, and had to start again. This could be easily avoided by simply moving the undo button. With an update or two, this should be an easy 5 star rating..Version: 2.4.2

Therefore, as an old user, I am asking the developers please consider adding a color pick to the text color panel where we usually choose what color you want for our texts. ✓ Best photo editing on iPadI bought Pixelmator for iPad only 5 days ago and already I'm using it constantly as a powerful tool to make infographics, edit my photos and to just be creative with the things that I love. What you get with Pixelmator is exactly what they say, an extremely powerful tool on your iPad for creating amazing images. I have used it to make promotional material for websites, fan posters for movies, and even just powerfully editing my photos to perfection. There are so many different opportunities allowed with the tools on Pixelmator and with everything the app provides the possibilities are endless. I love this app. It is a great addition to my creative apps on my iPad mini, and its unlikely I'll be finding something better. Well worth the money. I am even going to get the Mac app when I get my new MacBook, it is so good..Version: 1.0.1
✓ Excellent!A very good photo editor at a very affordable cost. It has a bit of a learning curve but that is to be expected that offers a rich set of photo editing tools. Also, I love and appreciate the idea behind the pay once for the full version approach. Please keep it at the same. I do have a few suggestions though which might make the user experience a little better: 1. Redos are hidden behind a tap and hold and you have to repeat the action multiple times to redo your last action. Both redo and undo as well as most of the other actions could be replaced with icons (also to preserve real estate). A long press could possibly host a sub menu or a text/header/hint. 2. State management for undo and redo is good. Maybe in the future a History tab could be provided for a quick undo/redo. 3. Gradients seem to be missing. 4. I am not sure as I haven’t compared but I have a feeling that blending modes could be more powerful. 5. Blending modes are indispensable to photo editing but again, are hidden behind a Format menu. That is not at all obvious to the user. I believe blending modes should also be accessible from the main page. 6. Blending mode cannot be currently applied to a group. You have to ungroup the images, apply the mode and then group the images again. Though you do have the option to merge. There might be a few more things but I am pretty sure the team behind Pixelmator already has priorities set for improvements and add-ons for their next version. Overall, very good and I would suggest people to support the engineers behind this..Version: 2.4.2
✓ Just superb - and straightforwardRight from first launch this was intuitive to use which I found an improvement over the Mac version which I learnt and then forgot! It seems to offer every feature you could reasonably imagine and then adds even more and usually in a beautiful way. It’s gorgeous to look at and very easy to use. It’s really quick on my Air. ✓ Great app with one glaring omissionI’m still feeling my way around this app and it seems to have everything I could need except the ability to mask. This is an essential part of my workflow so it’s quite the handicap to be without it. There is an erase tool but that is destructive to the image so not a great workaround. Masking in this app has been discussed for a long time on the forums but there hasn’t been a definitive answer from the developers as to whether this is a realistic expection or it just can’t be done. Both Lightroom and Art Studio Pro have pretty robust masking on the iPad and iPhone. Masking would make this a 5-star app without a doubt..Version: 3.1.6

✓ Please add this feature...This app is awesome and I use it most days. It’s basically a mini photoshop on your phone with tons of features. One thing it lacks which is what I would love to see added, and I’m guessing is a fairly easy addition... When my finger is on the screen it would be so much better if a little circle appeared on the screen which represented the brush size. Thank you so much, this app is ultimately amazing, some say the new UI is terrible but I disagree because it’s looks more modern and similar to Apple. I hope you implement my suggestion, because I have this and I was sad I had to use other apps such as: Inkscape to make isometric, which not only hard and difficult I feel that you could find a way to do it. ✓ Gets better each updateWhen Apple "killed" iPhoto for iPad in favour of plain old Photos, I missed the ability to do quick edits such as sharpening, blurring and retouching. Having long been a Pixelmator desktop user, the iPad version was an obvious choice as a replacement. Each update has brought new features and improvements in usability. ✓ New bugs are making usage a lot harderThis is the best photo editing app I've been able to find, and I've used it for years. But recently, there's some problems, mostly involving layers. The most annoying to me is that, when I copy and paste something, it often ends up far away from where it was copied from, to the point where it's usually out of the editing area entirely. This can be a real pain if the pasted item is very small. There's also cases where layers don't respond when selected, previews on the sidebar don't update... these are all fairly recent, they only started happening in the past few months..Version: 2.8.1

The new brushes are awesome, but doing any kind of layout with its many limitations (a tiny font size maximum and lack of gradient controls, for example) are a pain. I am a textiles degree student and what I had hoped for is that it would do cut-outs to reveal a patterned layers underneath - so pleased to find that it does what I want! Also it is extremely easy to use. Ok, it doesn't have the functionality of all of the drawing/painting apps, but that's not the point. ✓ Best All Around App For CreatorsThis app can replace so many of the single tool apps that nickel and dime you for subscriptions. This app replaced Canva, Photoshop and their sister app (Photomator) can replace Lightroom. It works so well on Macs, integrating with your photos in a similar layout to the photos app so finding photos is a breeze. If you’re a professional photographer and need heavy lifting, I would probably still be stuck with Adobe. But if you’re someone who likes to creator some photo art on their spare time and put content out there for creating, then this app is the one for you. Break free of being stuck with the subscription nightmare that we live in and get this. It’s far easier to learn than Adobe apps and the workflow is smoother. My apps are now Final Cut X for video, Pixelmator for editing and Photomator as Lightroom. Now I need to find a good sound editing app and I’m all set to make videos out constantly paying $100/month in subscriptions. I hope this app doesn’t go towards a subscription model and just has you pay for major updates that you can opt out of if you don’t need. But please fix this eye-nuke so I can edit without light-blindness every time I need to edit layer styles, tap any of the icons in the top right and whatnot. On the surface you appear to have very limited tools but play around with it for a while and you’ll find you can actually achieve some really decent results. Having said that, it’d be nice to see a few more features into the app, especially with so much competition from other editors on the market. I’d like to see more filters and presets introduced as the ones included are very basic and not much better than iPhone stock photos. Also I think for an app advertising itself as desktop grade editing, a denoise tool is essential. Hopefully these things will come in future updates..Version: 2.4.1

✓ It’s easy. It works. It’s Pixelmator.I was excited to learn that Pixelmator was coming to iOS for my iPad when I watched the keynote. Being a user of the desktop app for years (however preferring other products due to my own habits) I was really interested in Pixelmator for iOS. I currently use a 12.9” iPad Pro 2nd Gen. I downloaded this app several months ago and have not looked back. I’ve used this app for literally everything that I had use for in regards to image editing and creation and I’m quite impressed at how powerful yet incredibly easy this app is to use. I’ve created application interfaces, cropped and rendered images, merged and edited photos and just made my own photography work shine with Pixelmator. I’m really, really impressed with this app. Everything is easy to find and use and everything just works (and works well, I might add). I was really sceptical about using a proper image edited on the iPad using touch (and not a mouse) but Pixelmator crushed my doubts. ✓ Great start but needing some featuresI've been playing around with this a good bit after being a keen user of the Mac app. It's an excellent app but it does have its issues that hopefully will get addressed soon but as a version 1, i am impressed. What's missing: No raw support at the moment but possibly an iOS 8 bug. No inverse selection mode. No clone tool. Selection modes can sometimes be erratic and laggy. No noise reduction tool. No loupe. No history brush or brush to add erased content back in. More control over save to photos e.g. PNG or JPG and compression. Some of these missing features should have been included in this first release but I am a huge fan of the app and the developers and I look forward to how this app matures..Version: 1.0.1
✓ Had it ForeverMy last review has changed after some discussion with the team. But a few things remain to be seen before this rating becomes 5 stars for me. I found out that I can simply revert my file manager from recent projects to files and photos. This made me feel much better navigating thru my projects. So that bumped up my rating. I would still like to see a “less IOS User Interface”. When you tap a layer and get that pop-up window that you have to painstakingly tap thru to get to the tool you are looking for that happens to be at the very end in the list, that could be reworked. It really slows down the speed of a project. I would like to see a full list of the tools appear upon taping a layer. Kinda like a right click on a desktop. Another great thing to see would be some form of perspective tool like the one native to Apple’s photos app. Again, as the title states, I have had this photo editing app forever. Its been awesome, and it’s an extremely powerful photo editing app. And there will always be room for improvement and opinions on what will make it better. But hopefully we can see some changes I’ve offered to them, and then I can return here singing their praises..Version: 3.1.5
✓ Amazing translation to iPadIt's been a long time coming, but you can see why. This already had almost all the major features of the Mac version, even in version 1.0.x. ✓ Amazing but...Obviously the app is great. But there are a few things every app needs, to hit that perfect point. I won’t be writing one review. I use the app to do a lot of things. I make custom thumbnails for youtubers and pfp’s for people on discord etc. One thing that bugs me is the lack of font types you have. I understand that it’s hard to implement a load of fonts and then still have someone ask for another. However, it lacks a few basic functions such as noise reduction, shadow/highlight increments, vibrancy controls etc. I say this because it is touted as a photoshop alternative, but it really isn't there just yet. I hope future updates will add at least noise reduction, it's annoying having to first load a photo into photoshop touch, then load it up again in Pixelmator and then once more into Snapseed before finally saving. ✓ Very much worth it's priceHaving been a graphic artist for most of my working life I have been looking for something to give me the flexibility on my mobile that I have been used to on my desktop and laptop devices. On those devices I use the professional version of a very common piece of photo-editing software so it was a big ask for an app. Now I have discovered Pixelmator I am happy to be able to say that it is the most flexible, precise and functional photo-editing app I've ever used on my iPad and iPhone. Before buying this app I had tried quite a lot of mobile apps (including ones I have paid up to and around the £10 mark) that purported to make advanced photo editing possible but I discovered that I needed more out of them than they could offer. I can now do many things that I would previously had to use my laptop for but with the convenience of editing them wherever I am with my phone. I'm not suggesting that it's a suitable replacement for the professional software available for desktop and laptop devices but in situations where there is no access to those devices this is a powerful little app. It may take a while to get used to using it but that's because there are so many things it can do, however, if you're used to photo-editing it's pretty instinctive..Version: 2.2.1
