✓ Horrendous customer serviceI keep ordering via caviar thinking they’ll get their operations in order, but every time it’s AT LEAST an hour late. I’m going to stop for real this time! It’s been late in every scenario— when I’ve ordered hours in advance for a scheduled delivery and when ordering for ASAP delivery, having it estimate 30 minutes upon buying and then being 2 hours later than promised. Customer service then provides $5 credit with no new time estimate of delivery...not helpful. The whole point of ordering food is to have it at a certain time (or within a reasonable window). If you buy a meal expecting it to come at meal time, you’ve got to deliver— it’s literally your entire business model. ✓ AnnoyedI have deleted this app. My husband and I have worked from home since the Pandemic and relied on them for food delivery. Within this past week, most of the restaurants we ordered from weekly are no longer available. We are told “we are outside of the delivery area”. Including one restaurant that is only a mile from us. Favorites we had saved have also disappeared from our homepage. When I called customer service no satisfactory answer was given for why suddenly all of these restaurants no longer deliver to our area when they had been for the last three years. It’s infuriating. While the rival app doesn’t have the varied selections this one has (it was the one thing that distinguished it and made it worth using) it’s not worth it anymore. ✗ GIVING UP ON THEMBeing that we are in the middle of a pandemic, I have tried to support local restaurants while still keeping them safe by ordering through caviar. Twice I have ordered from our favorite bagel shop that is two blocks away from us and my order has gone horribly wrong. The first time it took an hour and a half and we hadn’t seen our food yet. We couldn’t find anyway to contact caviar in a timely manner so we cancelled our order. Today we ordered bagels through them again and this time after an hour wait it said our item was picked up and on its way. Then it said delivered and we checked the front door and our food was nowhere to be found so we were worried it was stolen. We called the restaurant and they said our order was still with them. I completely understand long wait times given the circumstances but don’t lie to me. Why would a courier say our food was picked up and delivered when they haven’t even arrived at the restaurant yet. That just leads to confusion and is infuriating. After we spoke to the bagel shop, Caviar apparently called them and the shop reported what the courier did and she told me they were very rude and dismissive to them. We ended up getting everything cancelled and ordered directly trough the bagel place to pick up the food. But it was a total waste of time and incredibly frustrating. ✗ First order; bad experienceWe ordered from one of our favorite restaurants that we know and love. We have done pick up before by calling and different apps, and never had any issues. Used caviar to save some dollars on our first order. Scheduled pick up for 12:30-12:40. We arrive at the later end to be safe. The restaurant panics as they haven’t even started our order. Food is done about five after. Unfortunately we weren’t picking up for only ourselves but for a birthday get-together so we felt awful showing up late. I raised the issue to Caviar and they offered $10, which barely covered the restaurant tip. I suggested they offer a larger credit as I believe my time is worth more than $10, but they told me that they have a “system” for determine make-up credits. If pickup food being 30 minutes late equates to $10, I can’t imagine how bad it has to be to get more. Spoiled food maybe? The yogurt that came with the biryani was seemingly curdled so maybe I should have brought that up to Caviar. Then I’d get a life-changing windfall of $12! Anyway, we probably should just call the restaurant directly. Lord knows DoorDash/Caviar doesn’t deserve our money — the restaurants do. Lesson learned..'tyty'Version: 4.92.0
