Buddy: Budget Planner App for Negative User Reviews

Used to be amazing! Recent update is terribleI used this app for a few months earlier this year and loved it! It was amazing. It thought of everything. But now they’ve done some update to include “accounts” which just confuses everything! The budget no longer recognises income as income, instead it’s savings that’s being transferred out. I’ve tried contacting the developers and heard noting back.Version: 8.3

$46 for a budgeting appDownloaded to track expenses and save some money . As if the first step I’m going to take to save money is pay $46 for an app ..Version: 9.5

Excellent features, horrible bank connectionVery good features and UI, but horrible experience connecting to RBC every time I open the app, it doesn’t even have any autofill. It could at least not force me to connect every time..Version: 11.13

Terrible syncing of transactions for premium usersSays transactions can take up to 6 hours to sync but its been over a week and it still hasnt synced any of my transactions. disconnecting and reconnecting my bank has temporarily fixed this feature but this is the 3rd time this has happened to me now. app is way to out of sync to be relied upon for tracking finances. my mind and review would change to a better opinion if this was fixed and worked as it was intended to but until then i cant recommend spending money on premium like i did.Version: 11.27

Good but a major bug yet to be fixedUpdate - recurring transactions still do not work and the developer is studiously ignoring all feedback regarding this. Absolute rubbish that they can't get such basic functionality right. Don't bother with this app, not worth the money. I like the app - it looks nice, it's easy to use and in theory it should do everything I want but it has a major bug which needs to be sorted out pronto - the recurring transactions are completely hit and miss. Some work, some don't and every month I have to go and manually add the missing ones which defeats the point of having scheduled transactions! I've reported this via the app numerous time but never once had a response from the developer. I won't be renewing my subscription if this isn't sorted out..Version: 10.7

Cannot Replace MintI tried this app because Mint is shutting down. You can sync your banks and track budgets. All that works. The part that I could not get it to work like I wanted was stuff like recurring payments. It does not breakdown the total amount across the year like Mint does. It just places it on the month that you have to pay it. It’s also not as smart as mint is to deal with credit card payments. It does not learn from transaction categories as you change them to what you want. It required me to go in a manually make too many changes. It just was not for me unfortunately. I might come back in the future but right now it’s not an app I would use..Version: 11.19

Useless, only subscriptionsThe app looked very promising and nicely designed when I was looking for a simple expense tracking tool that isn’t excel. So downloaded and clicked through two screens and that’s it. You can’t use it without signing up to a subscription. No basic features or free simple version. Only subscription (with 1 week trial) which I’m not interested in paying..Version: 10.26

DOES NOT SUPPORT ROYAL BANK OF CANADADon’t waste your time if you want to link an RBC account..Version: 11.19

Not compatible with Royal BankWas unable to link to RBC account and received a message that my bank isn’t compatible with the app..Version: 11.34

Does not support WealthsimpleDoes not support wealthsimple. Took my 15$ as well. No refund yet!!.Version: 11.20

Always having to re-enter data.Be a lot better if I didn’t have to re-enter my bank data every time I logic.Version: 11.12

A lot of bugs, makes it unusable.I’d really like to love this app and go premium. Unfortunately, there are a number of bugs - not sure if they’re bugs or If I’m doing it wrong. I’ve emailed and had no response so 🤷🏻‍♀️have to choice to assume they are bugs. 1/ the overview tab constantly says “we found nothing” despite being halfway through the month with plenty of submissions for expenses/income. 2/ recurring expenses make no sense. I’ve added a number of recurring exp. into my Tools > recurring transactions. However, when the time comes, it is not taken out of my budget. When I manually add the expense and I click on the button ‘recurring’ and then press okay, the manually added expense does not appear. If I add it in manually and then press okay without adding ‘recurring’ then it’s fine. Then if I go to edit it and do recurring, the submission disappears 🤷🏻‍♀️ and is taken out of my total budget. The values remain as though I never added it in. This means I have to painstakingly manually enter in every single purchase. Unusable..Version: 7.34

Extremely glitchyWhen you start on the app you will feel this is a really good app. But it’s tedious and glitchy all the time. I just went in and cleaned duplicate entries (that the app has randomly created) in almost all spending categories. It also doesn’t allow to select only one bank account if you have more than one account with the same bank. I have a business and personal account with the same bank and it pulls in all my business expenses, which I have to then manually delete. It also says synced in last 2 seconds but you will not see the recent transactions until you have refreshed at least 5 times. Overall the categorization and views are simple and easy. If everything were to work as designed this can be a great app, simple to use and track expenses. Not sure how long I will continue with the app though if the bugs are not fixed..Version: 11.22

It's good but lacks functionalityI'm a nomad and have accounts in a few countries, in different currencies. The app won't allow me to create and manage separate budgets for each currency which is a problem. It also has limited ability to import transactions, which I wouldn't mind if it had the ability to easily reconcile your balance. Additionally, the fact that there isn't a webapp for those occasions when it would be much easier to enter things on my laptop, coupled with the elevated new price, is making me reconsider going back to YNAB..Version: 10.27

LOVE but…Buddy has been my favourite budget planner so far but find it very time consuming to manually add every transaction, and sometimes I forget to do so and it throws my budget off. I would LOVE if you could sync your banks accounts so your transactions automatically link into buddy..Version: 8.10

UI ChangeReally enjoyed using this app but the recent UI overhaul does not look great, feels somehow harder to navigate and has actually put me off using the app anymore. Disappointing.Version: 11.0

Put offGood app and easy to use but put off by the monthly subscription costs. Plenty of other apps out there that do the same without the hefty price tag!!.Version: 7.5

Technical issuesGreat app but it’s refusing to open after the latest update. I’ve tried restarting my phone but nothing seems to be working. Don’t want to delete the app as I don’t want to lose my data.Version: 11.0

Apple Watch app does not workThe app is good but the Apple Watch app does not work gets stuck on the transaction screen and just keeps loading finding categorises.Version: 7.55

Developer does not provide supportI downloaded this app on my iPad and signed in using a regular email. Purchased the premium, then downloaded it on my iPhone and tried to sync my purchase. Nothing. No option to reset password so I read up on it and it states to email support to reset password. I sent two emails and it’s been over a week and a half, no reply from them at all. I do not recommend this for anyone who may have an issue in the future because of this is any indication to their support, it’s non existent. I am filing a claim with Apple with proof of my sent emails with no replies to help me sync my two devices, and possibly even going to contact Discover to charge back on it. I don’t mind paying for anything, but when there’s no assistance when a customer has an issue, I don’t think that company should be allowed to continue to be on this platform. Total rip-off. Bad business. There really are better apps out there with amazing support from the developer, don’t waste your money on this one. It’s all good until you have an issue…. Note to the developer: please don’t bother replying to this review with any fake attempts to finally help. You could’ve done that to the email I sent about two weeks ago..Version: 8.11

Stop. Find another app.Sorry to say the customer service here is non-existent. If you do decide to use this app I genuinely hope you don’t have any issues with it. My experience hasn’t been great. After several messages to this company (as a premium paid subscriber) with zero response after weeks of waiting. I have requested a refund or even a partial refund … (insert chirping crickets here). So don’t expect your money back..Version: 9.22

WTH...No idea what is going on, this would be a great app except it is holding no information that is being input - I have just spent an hour getting everything on it, only to find I have gone to add another expense and everything has been erased bar one income! Pointless app until they fix this error!.Version: 6.9

Update version don't really work for meI like the old version with: - the monthly view of spending list - and with upcoming transactions hidden in the tap. It's annoying to scroll down to view today's transaction as upcoming transactions are shown within the current spending..Version: 11.2

Wealthsimple Support? Are you guys planning on adding wealthsimple to your list of accounts? If so do you know when?.Version: 11.4

Lacking FeaturesLike millions of users out there, I am one of those Mint users searching for a new budgeting tool. Buddy looks promising but there are a few must-have features that I really miss from Mint (hope these will be implemented very soon): 1) ability to split a transaction into multiple categories 2) ability to memorize a transaction from a vendor so the user does not have to manually assign it.Version: 11.3

New update issueI liked the old preview of transaction list overview. It showed more information at a glance. This new preview barely shows anything. Now you only see that in the wallet tabs, this should also be seen in the overview tab as that is what is used majority of the time. Can you make an option that revert to the old preview overview list? I like to see the information when I input them and this new update doesn’t allow for it. If I could add pictures here I would have but I can’t..Version: 11.9

Subscription!?Seriously? £5 a month to use your app!? That's ridiculous. Make it a one time purchade of 5-10£ and I'll get it, but continuously draining me is absurd... What a way to help people budget, by taking a sip from their balance every single month. No thanks, I will stick to free alternatives like Acasa..Version: 7.2

Not bad, but not great eitherI’ll start by saying that I lost all of my data—just gone. Somewhere between trying to create a new budget for next month and deciding to cancel my subscription, everything just disappeared without warning. I’m inclined to give the app the lowest rating possible for this sort of a thing. (If the app loses data, the app actually has negative value.) That being said, I feel the developer did a lot of things well. The app looks great, which was part of what made it stand out among the others. The feature set is decent, and I appreciate being able to do a biweekly budget, but in my opinion the $4.99/month subscription plan doesn’t really make sense. I’ve read the developer’s reasoning regarding it, but as a consumer I’ve got to say that it should probably be priced around $0.99 or $1.99. In conclusion, this app was almost good enough to keep me using it, but the $4.99 per month has me walking away, and the loss of data has me writing the review..Version: 7.8

Incredibly Difficult to NavigateWhy does it not minus from my budget once I spend? How do I manage one off payments? I am honestly very confused using this app..Version: 10.27

☹️This app looked so promising but it’s actually really confusing and annoying. I would have happily paid the yearly fee but I have no idea how to use it. Seems way too complicated - and that’s coming from someone who’s very tech savvy!.Version: 10.16

Veri 3rd class appThere are so many open issues and I am wasting my $70 for this app!.Version: 11.31

Aesthetic and easy to use but lack of intergration.Such a cool app and I’d love to use it but because it does allow connectivity to banks in Australia, adding each individual transaction is tedious and frustrating. Which is a shame because it’s the only budgeting app I’d consider using otherwise..Version: 11.34

Would not update my bank infoCool idea. Wouldn’t update my bank info. I waited over the 6 hours for it update multiple times. I even connected and re connected etc and no dice. Super annoying so I cancelled..Version: 11.8

Doesn’t sync to banking appIt doesn’t sync to your banking app so unless you’re only planing on making one or two transactions then it’s easy to update it in the evening otherwise you’ll loose motivation to keep logging everything down, it becomes difficult if you Laybuy something and it wants you to break all your payments down yourself so you set it to weekly then if you have a monthly payment you need to break it all down, since I only pay some bills on different weeks it didn’t really add up for me my weekly spend/available money so I quickly lost interest however it’s a pretty app with nice functionality and appealing graphics.Version: 9.0

It’s okayIt’s a good app but it’s for budgeting so you can look after your money but you want us to pay like £40-£50 for premium for all the extra stuff like connecting your bank account so it can track what you spend and whatever BUT THE APP IS TO HELP YOU SAVE AND LOOK AFTER MONEY?????!!!!!! What is the point seriously???.Version: 10.11

Disappointing and expensiveThis app does not automatically balance your credit card transactions and payments, so you have to manually categorize every single careful card transaction. Categories are too confusing. It stopped syncing one of my credit cards after one month. Also expensive. Deleting this and searching for a better alternative..Version: 11.31

Nice design, limited functionalityLovely design - clean, customisable & intuitive interface. Allows you to co-manage a budget with others. But one major design flaw: all expenses must be tracked in the same period eg monthly or quarterly. I want to be able to see my regular budget categories on a monthly basis, and my infrequent categories (eg haircuts, clothes shopping) on a quarterly or annual basis. Given the annual cost of this app, I’m surprised this feature hasn’t been built yet..Version: 9.11

Inaccurate Bank TransactionsThe imported bank transactions are inaccurate: missing transactions randomly from some days..Version: 11.3

FreezingThis App would be okay but it keeps freezing. Fix it please.Version: 7.0

No Support even for PremiumTake it from someone who's purchased the premium plan — there is little to zero support. I purchased the premium plan when this app was fairly new to the market, and it's been through a few changes. It's at the point where it no longer recognizes my account and I'm unable to use the app on another device. I've reached out to Support numerous times and received no response. I would highly recommend steering away from an app like this. It really doesn't offer anything superior from other leading apps such as Mint, YNAB, etc. You'll just be out (the now $60) annual subscription..Version: 9.11

Stopped syncing after about a weekThe bank synchronization stopped working. Says "Technical Error". Reached out several times, no response. Don't recommend wasting your time..Version: 11.19

Good but…Switched to this app and like the interface. However there is no end date for recurring transactions. Are you able to edit this?.Version: 10.24

Super slow syncIt’s almost what I need but has a lot of flaws . You have to group loans in order for it to track multiple . I kept trying to add my second car loan but it kept changing the first one I put in. They come out of our bank at different times and I want them segregated . The sync is 72 hours off and when it does sync it’s posted on the wrong day . It’s showing last Thursday stuff for Wednesday and nothing after that … today is Monday . Some stuff comes over some stuff doesn’t . It’s just to slow i need to know how much money I have in the moment and with this it isnt feasible due to the delay and missing transactions..Version: 10.14

Decent enough app but recurring transactions dont workThe app is good enough, but for some reason only some recurring transactions are transferred into the next month, for example say you have 4 transactions set to every month day 1, only a couple show for some strange reason..Version: 9.19

Recent update totally messed up everything and can’t add banks nowEver since the recent update, all my bank connections stopped working and I can’t even add them successfully. Such a huge disappointment because I really liked this app a lot, even more than yah but now it’s completely useless! I tried reaching to support because my trial ends in 2 days but since I haven’t heard back I’m going to have to cancel because there’s no way I’m paying one year for a useless app. So incredibly buggy and disappointing . What did you do 5 days ago!-?!?.Version: 11.25

Very handyVery handy.Version: 7.0

Paid for subscription twice-didnt get it.Self explanatory really, pretty disappointed. Don't recommend.Version: 10.18

Transferring funds between accounts balance issueI want to give this app 5 stars, however when I “transfer money” from a savings account to the main spending account, it won’t update the main dashboards balance in the top right corner. For some reason the transfer transaction that shows in the transaction list needs to be converted to to “income” for it to be taken into consideration as available funds. Otherwise your dashboard balance and the Homescreen widget will end up in a negative balance. This doesn’t make sense to me as if you’re one to keep funds in different accounts and cannot transfer from one account to another to utilise the funds from the second account, then what is the point of having a transfer feature? It appears to me that this feature is simply not functioning and needs fixing..Version: 10.12

Wouldn't link to partner and didn't give them my premium (which said it would in FAQ)Tried to link app to partner which it did on their side but not mine. Also didn't give them premium too, which i bought, as it said it would in FAQ. not sure what to do about this as would like to use the app.Version: 10.7

The support link in the apps store is not workingAs apple family subscribers I would like to know if I could share the premium annual subscription within, I don’t understand why I should paid twice for my wife and me, cause there is only one bank account we paid the same product for each device..Version: 11.20

Need more accounts to be availableNeed to be able to connect Wealthsimple, Neo, Eq bank and others.Version: 11.11

Lots missingLots missing compared to mint :( App hangs while it’s doing some background work Can’t hide duplicate accounts !!! Weird and wrong categorizations ….Version: 11.12

It cost $$$ it’s not freeIt cost $$$ it’s not free.Version: 11.27

Beautiful design but…The app has a beautiful and simplistic design. It is a treat for the eyes to look at. However, it doesn’t support bank transaction syncing so you have to manually put in every transaction (please correct me if I’m wrong). Also there’s no help document or support provided in the app..Version: 9.13

Solid app but new rework of UI feels like a step backLove using this app however the UI in the transactions tab feels clunkier than it was before. Scheduled transactions no longer being greyed out loses a lot of first glance information. There are far less transactions displayed at once and that is quite disappointing and its a shame I can no longer choose what transactions are shown via periods. Would be great to see an option to change the UI back to the old look in the settings menu..Version: 11.2

Automatic transaction sorting and missing featuresThe automatic sorting of your transactions is horrible. I sometimes transfer money from the checking to my savings, and buddy recognizes the transfer as an expense on my checking and then as income on my savings. Would be great if you could just mark a transaction as a transfer so it doesn’t count. Also, when I pay off my credit card, it counts that as an expense. So basically my expenses are double what they should be because it’s counting my individual credit transactions and then the whole of my payment as an expense. Would also be great if you could create a rule for recurring transactions to always be in the same category..Version: 11.11

Do not buy! Zero communication from developer, who took $50 without providing services!!This app at first seemed great, exactly what my wife and I had been looking for in an expense tracker. It worked well for the first few days, so we signed up for the annual $50 subscription. A week later the apps on each of our phones were no longer syncing. We tried our own troubleshooting without any affect. We reached out to the developer and haven’t heard a word. This app is MASSIVELY bugged. We spent a significant amount of time setting up a sizable budget on the app, but now we have no way at all of even accessing our previous accounts with that data. I tried to sign up for the seven day free trial of the premium features, which my wife had previously done, and was immediately charged the $50, same day, without any access at all to the premium features. This app is a borderline scam and should be removed from the App Store. We are in the process of getting refunds with Apple, for the $100 we wasted on this. Stay away! A sheet of paper and keeping a stack of receipts is better than this!.Version: 9.11

Only connects to one bank.Pointless, everything else is incredible, shame it’s unusable, who has one account these days..Version: 10.13

ScamHi canceled my subscription in time but was still charged $65!!!! I reached out twice to apple and request a refund but they will not grant it. DO NOT download this app!.Version: 11.19

Balance doesn’t transfer over?I like this app because unlike my bank’s banking app to review my purchases, it shows a nice little % breakdown of where my money has gone each month and a pie chart to go with it. However, now onto my second month of using it, my overview balance hasn’t carried on from last month? How can this be right? Like most people, I get paid at the end of every month so my balance isn’t going to be above £0 until I get paid which makes no sense? Am I missing something?.Version: 7.3

How to save moneyI have already started to save good money by deleting this App. Every app maker these days wants a hand in our pockets in the form of recurring subscriptions. Whats wrong with one time pricing? Good budgeting starts with saving money..Version: 7.42

LimitedThis app is great but very limited especially on the free version. It only lets you make 2 changes to categories and doesn’t take into account anything you’ve undone..Version: 7.12

DumbDumb.Version: 10.20

Has potential but disappointingReally has potential as is intuitive and beautiful. However the recurring expenses are not automatically included as transactions unless you manually click *add now*. This is frustrating as I want to see that I have budgeted correctly according to my direct debits but would have to manually enter *add now* for 100s of repeating transactions. It also does not roll over any remaining money at the end of the budget period which is just ridiculous. Without these functions it is basically unuasable..Version: 7.55

No app support. You’re on your own.Cannot even hide a bank account after FINALLY connecting my TD account - but it won’t let me hide individual accounts that I do NOT want part of my tracked finances. Reached out to support, no reply. Also, the MBNA Amazon credit card isn’t supported. At one point I had used the 7 day free trial apparently as when I clicked the trial option, it just charged me immediately..Version: 11.19

Wouldn’t Even Connect to my BankFirst of all, you have to pay just to be able to connect to your bank account, which should be a pretty basic feature. But second of all, it wouldn’t even connect to my bank (one of the major ones, too, not even some random small time place) because, as it said, it “doesn’t support the two factor authentication system” my bank uses. Complete waste of money. If anyone from the app is paying attention , I’d like my money back, because this is useless to me without connecting to my accounts; if I wanted to input all the data myself I’d just make an excel spreadsheet..Version: 11.26

Needs 1 major issue fixedI love this app but why does everything reset every month????? I need my balance to not disappear and set back to zero every month, what is the point of that.... I need it to remain where it was from the month before. This should not even be an issue, who designed this.Version: 7.55

I don’t understand what get this app the high ratingsUsed it for around 10 minutes. Patiently dumped all my regular spending in the app then realised despite having pre-defined spending categories for each expense. It still dump everything under housing, who would buy clothing or petrol for a house? The next bug encountered was I had to repeated remove the pre-filled budget of rent from the screen as I removed it during regular expenses phrase then again when I check my budget. Maybe get some software engineer and product manager who knows how to build an app before considering charging premium. Uninstalled and here is the feedback..Version: 10.24

Cannot sync with my bank accountIts been days since I successfully sync my bank data last time. After I paid for subscription..Version: 11.9

Scam Garbage. Avoid at all cost!Won’t connect to Amex in Canada even though other apps that use Plaid to connect to Amex in Canada do. The 7 day free trail turned into an instant billing of my account fo $60+. Now I’m stuck with an app that doesn’t work for me and am $60 poorer..Version: 11.10

Good at firstThe latest update is making the app not work properly. I can’t edit the budget properly. Existing values disappear. I liked how I could add categories but now you can’t and I have to pay for that function now..Version: 7.14

UnusableThis is a beautifully designed app indeed… but what’s the point of it if it’s completely unusable? All the info is so wrong it’s ridiculous! My credit card balance is -262, the apps says -125 because I assume it actually takes the balance off the bank which is wrongly calculated or not updating often enough, so the way the balance should be calculated is credit limit - credit left. Then it tells me I have 500$ on my checking account, which I only have 19. So my total balance should be -262+19… But *surprise* the app says I have -$1888 total balance… also it says I spent 9000$ this month which is a huge overestimate… I think it counts all money movement, even from my account to my another account… i really wonder how the app comes up with all that stuff… Had high hopes on the app as it seemed to be the best on the market so very disappointed, especially considering theres an app called MoneyWiz which works perfectly but I don’t like how it looks, so… really hope you fix your issues.Version: 11.25

Data Exports should be basic featureThis is a great app which I’ve used for a long time but I find the idea of paying for monthly membership to export my data incredibly outdated. Data belongs to the user and should be free of charge to export into a basic .csv file.Version: 7.55

Can’t see transactions and recurring transaction doesn’t workI’ve set up my monthly budget and added some transactions but nothing shows up in “Transaction” view. Have also set up recurring transactions but other months show no update. I don’t understand how others are saying this is the best app ever, cos this app isn’t doing what it’s supposed to do Suggested updates: - introduction tutorial will be nice as this app is difficult to use - fixed expense should be recurring automatically - selected categories should be pinned to “most recent” usage so it’s easier to find, as this app tracks the specific category.Version: 10.4

Bank connection doesn’t work, hard to contactI LOVE the design and functionality of the app. It’s super clean and functional, and is the only app I’ve found that allows you to connect your bank accounts AND budget bi-weekly - and if your paid bi-weekly, you understand how hard it is to manage your budget using all those monthly apps out there. This combination makes this app an absolute win-win! Now for the negative; my particular bank (Cadence) is not connecting for some reason. Until this is fixed where I can download transactions from my bank, it’s pretty useless because I simply can’t take the time to manually enter transactions. I’ve gone through the “submit feedback” button in the app, but have not gotten a response back. And with only a 7 day free trial period, I can’t afford to just sit around and wait hoping they contact me, so I had to cancel my subscription for now. Overall - great app, just make sure your bank connection works. Buddy team, improving your responsiveness, including sending an email letting people know you’ve received their feedback and are looking into it, would help so I don’t feel like my question is just going into a black hole. I really hope the bank connection gets fixed with Cadence so I can use the app..Version: 10.17

Excel Is EasierGod forbid you ever have to update your reoccurring transactions or budget. If you put a reoccurring transaction for a year and you’ve made a mistake or it changes at any point or you have decided to remove that transaction as you can’t afford it anymore, be prepared to go through manually to every single date for that year and delete all forward transactions 1 by 1 manually. Also if your income changes or increases again be prepared to edit each weekly input for the next year manually. Oh but there’s a delete all transactions button, that will remove literally everything so you can have the joy of entering every signal transaction…again… But hey at lest they store the transactions settings in the reoccurring section settings, which you can change the date to start again in the next month, which doesn’t work so you have to delete all those stored reoccurring transaction settings in addition to the wipe, because otherwise you’ll get duplicates in the settings which for some reason one part of the app reads but the transaction section doesn’t, meaning you get double expenses and income in one section but NO transactions and data in the other. Terrible app, would recommend for someone who likes to redo their entire yearly budget each night from scratch over and over again..Version: 9.16

Hands down worst appThe reasoning behind this is a bad app is because these apps are suppose to help you save money and be very good in your finances. I have to spend money just to connect my bank? That stupid, I have to spend just to add more things so I can manage my savings? That is stupid. I found a way better app that does it he same thing, I can share my leager and they can still manage it. This app request so much money that you can use for food, drink, bills, etc. I don’t recommend this app at all. Due to the pricing and how much they offer is pretty ridiculous. “Oh we need to pay to stay on apple”. You will get more money from keeping it cheap and more understandable to spend. These app should teach you and help you manage your money not spend it on these apps. I found an app that I have to spend $8 for lifetime, but if you don’t get lifetime you still get 95% of what they offer. This app only allows like 45% what they offer and then you have to spend money to unlock 100% of it. This app is a scam and money waste..Version: 10.26

Needs improvementsThis app needs many improvements. 1. When I return an item to a store, the only way to indicate that is through income. That’s the only way to add money into your account. But that inaccurately makes your income to expense ratio different because it looks like I’m making more income than I’m actually making. 2. All my transactions are lining up with my bank account, yet my balance is ALWAYS lower in Buddy, by a few hundred sometimes. 3. In order to “finish setting up my account” (I purchased premium unlimited) I have to add another user. I’m a single household. 4. When I try to pull up the calendar when adding an expense at a later time than the day I made the transaction, the app won’t allow me to select the date I want. So I end up having to hit the back or forward errors until I get to the date I want to use. I only purchased the app because I knew others who were using it (although they didn’t recommend it). Had I known all these inconveniences, I would have just kept Mint. It’s free and I’m my opinion, much more convenient on how it allows you to sync all your accounts and see real time balances and transactions..Version: 8.15

DisappointedI was excited to try this app! TD and CIBC do not work with this app. I reached out multiple times for help with no response..Version: 11.16

Not the best option for couplesMy husband and I installed the app and right away I upgraded to premium because I was willing to pay 60$ per year for an app that’s helpful. We synced our banks. After 3 days of use there were a couple of things didn’t work well: 1. My expenses stopped showing up although my bank syncing was up to date. 2. I couldn’t see anyone of my husband’s spending although we were sharing same budget plan. 3. The upcoming pre authorized payments were duplicated and not accurate and I couldn’t make any changes. 4. My salary was not accurate although I have added it manually 5. In my budgeting plan, I couldn’t see the household earning (my salary + my husband’s) while I was planning for household expenses, it doesn’t make sense to see only one earning. 6. I have contacted from the app to ask my questions but received no respond. I wish these type of apps could have tutorials for how to use the app and a better customer service to respond when you have an issue..Version: 11.20

BRING BACK THE OLD LAYOUTThis new update has ruined the app for me. I enjoyed being able to see the total amount for each category e.g searching a term ‘sunnies’ and seeing how much money I have spent on that category. You cannot see the whole description written for a transaction which is also frustrating. completely ruined the visibility of my budgeting. please change it back to the old setting or I will also cancelling my subscription..Version: 11.2

Waste of $60 for PremiumGot trapped into a premium account because I forgot to cancel the 7-day free trial. It charges $60 for the year which is money down the drain. The app’s algorithm doesn’t work for me for 2 reasons: 1) Doesn’t sort transactions properly into income and expenses categories so my totals are inaccurate. It gets annoying having to go into individual transactions to change what categories they’re in. For example, I’m putting $X into a TFSA bi-weekly. It’s just a transfer of money from one account to the other but the app tracks it as additional income so it’s showing me that I’m making more than I actually am. 2) Duplicates transactions, also making calculations inaccurate which defeats the whole purpose of the app. I like the easy-to-use interface and the cool design. But it’s not worth the money I spent. I could just as easily design/use an Excel or Google sheet for free..Version: 11.22

Useless when you can only link 1 accountProbably the best designed budget app I’ve found (everything else is either way too restrictive or way too complicated with too many features) but without being able to link more than one account it’s useless. It’s a massive shame because I’d happily pay for it if that wasn’t the case.Version: 10.17

Keeps removing savesRemoves saved balances.Version: 7.54

HopefulMy search for a budget/spending app continues. The graphics on this one are about the best I’ve seen, easy to interpret. Seems it would keep just the right amount of data for those of us don’t want to link to bank accounts and credit lines. I know what’s in my checking account. What I want to know is where my money is going and where I could most comfortably save money. My problem with this app is with the user interface. I simply could not get it to let me add a new category to the budget section. And I am not sure why the categories in spending and budgeting are different. These should be the same and linked. Also I should be able to click through on a nonbudgeted item and move it to a budget category. And every time I set up a new category for spending, I should immediately be able to attach it to a budgeted category/amount. I will keep an eye on upgrades to this app if I don’t find the right thing soon because I see the potential. Just not there for me yet..Version: 7.25

Crashes and bugsHaving just bought a subscription and input my custom categories, I ran into a number of bugs. Clicking the Budget tab caused numerous crashes. In Edit Budget, my custom categories did not appear and some default categories that I removed appeared. In Edit Budget when I try to create a new category, it causes the app to crash. Currently unusable and I require a budget app for uni, starting in a week. If this app won’t work I’ll be forced to use another, and I’d want a refund. Love the interface though! 5 stars if it was usable for me..Version: 6.11

No Support!!!Sent SEVERAL messages to support and no return. Waste of time and money. Do not recommend..Version: 11.12

PoorAsks for private and personal information to use.Version: 9.13

Great in theory…So many glitches. Firstly, my husband bought the Premium version and added me to the budget he created. My account should reflect Premium as well according to what it says, but it doesn’t. I have tried restarting my phone but still nothing. Secondly, I have tried multiple times to enter the balance of our accounts but it keeps going back to $0 no matter how many times I try to re-enter or re-add it. Has so much potential but the app is unusable. We wasted a whole evening setting this up and it’s not even usable..Version: 9.14

The synchronization is delecting transactionsOn my past bank transactions when I change the category; the next synchronization will delete them and recreate them with the initial categories. Except that nice application!.Version: 11.10

Can see positives but needs workI wanted to move away from a custom made excel document I built that helps me visualise and track 12 months at a time but this isn’t it. Recurring didn’t seem to work, struggled to have different payments (one bill weekly, one bill fortnightly etc) to appear correctly and there was no starting balance option. It’s good. Not great. Sorry :(.Version: 9.3

Extremely agitating user experienceCame from Mint. I’m distraught that Mint is being discontinued as there’s still no viable alternative out there. Buddy is marketed as an alternative to Mint. It is not. What it is: 1) not all transactions reliably display, 2) I have to recertify my bank login credentials every 2-3 days, 3) you can’t connect more than one account from the same financial institution. Ive spent more time trying to connect my bank accounts than actually managing my budget..Version: 11.33

Good app but…Seems like a decent app but was unable to connect my main spending credit card. Kept getting ‘multi-factor authentication not supported’. Tried emailing them for support but never got a reply..Version: 11.10

No privacy policyI wouldn’t trust this app. The privacy policy shows a 404 redirection for GitHub, and the support link doesn’t even have basic web security. The app suggests you “secure data in the cloud” to sync with other devices. If such basic infrastructure can’t isn’t secure, there is no chance your data is safe with this app. It’s a shame, it looks nice..Version: 5.24

Lack of Canadian banks. Not worth it for Canadians right now…It’s unfortunate that as Mint is shutting down I’d of liked to get another budgeting app. I don’t mind the fee to connect a bank account. But it’s upsetting when some banking institutions (i.e. Koho, Wealthsimple, etc) aren’t supported. Especially Wealthsimple being the #1 Finance app in Canada at this moment. Until then I cannot use this app… Could’ve been better, oh well….Version: 11.15

Good App, Great PotentialI deleted the app as it wouldn’t import my daily transactions, which killed the functionality of the app. I would remove my bank and re-add it and it worked for a day but was unable to keep it synced. I acknowledge that my bank isn’t one of the “big” banks by any means, which may be part of the issue. I may check back later and try again this year. The app itself is well built and once you get the hang of it is easy to use and understand. If it would sync properly for me it would easily be a 5 star and I would have purchased the app outright..Version: 11.27

CurrencyI love the app especially the UI which looks neat and fun to tracking the transaction. I know I can set the currency for the ledger, but I couldn’t find a way to change the currency for each transaction. For example my ledger is in AUD and my expenses is in USD, I would like to record the transaction in USD and it shows the amount in AUD in the summary..Version: 11.4

Too Hard to Set UpWay too hard to create categories and get started.Version: 9.8

Good looks bad performanceThe app looks beautiful can’t lie, but when it comes to usability not nearly as good. Setting up a budget is quite easy but gets messy very easily if new categories are created. The app keeps resetting the new categories from both budget and personalised add screen. It does not save the order if the categories are rearranged and sometimes it does not even save newly added sections. Recurring transactions are also very buggy as if you’re sharing the budget with another person these appear on both phones greyed out with an ‘Add now’ button which does not go away after the other person has pressed it..Version: 7.2

Continuous list defeats the purpose of the appThis new update is killing me. The whole point of having a separate app to a bank app is to have categories and headings so everything can be grouped and seen easily. But with the new update the list of expenses isn’t grouped by months anymore, it is just a continuous painful list that doesn’t even start at Today because of recurring expenses. Really bad UX peeps! At least mark Today in a different colour. And do bring back the monthly groupings, this is pretty much the main reason I downloaded the app in the first place..Version: 11.3

Good but has issuesThis app is super useful except my regular transactions don’t show in my accounts tab meaning that my account balance doesn’t actually represent how much money I have and I have to delete the transaction and put it in manually, completely defeating the entire point of the function..Version: 10.27

It’s decentUpdate: after using this for almost a week I really don’t like it I’m taking off a star… when I upload all my current bank transactions it tells me my “updated current balance” and I go into my bank account just to double check the balance is correct on Buddy and it’s not… there’s no pending transactions these are transactions that have gone through and Buddy registers that and has all my transactions in my buddy account but for whatever reason it always tells me I have more than what I actually have in my bank…. The transactions also don’t go through on my budget categories… so I say I have $130 to use on my credit card bill… the transaction comes out and on my budget category it still says I have $130 left to spend this month. It just lags horribly and doesn’t stay up to date… I canceled and will be looking for a new app. It’s good, better than mint because you have more options but when I linked my bank account to make seeing my transactions and just overall budget easier it has some of my transactions actions listed twice and then it mixed up my credit card with my checking account so I had to go in and list my “credit” as “checking” on each transaction and then it doesn’t have an accurate checking balance even though it’s linked to my bank so that’s strange. I went in and manually put my current balance though… I’ll try it because I paid for the month so we’ll see if I like it or it grows on me..Version: 10.20

Great App in TheroyWe’ve been using this app for about 3 months. It’s very attractive. But.. It sync’s poorly between our devices. Does not auto populate previous entries. Will automatically make a bill paid based on the due date, not whether I manually selected it as paid. I feel like the Budget and Overview sections work against each other. The poor syncing and showing bills as being paid when they are not are making us leave the app. Those two problems have killed our budget. Just want an app my wife and I can see what each other are spending so we can manage our budget..Version: 8.15

Worst sync feature and can sync your banking transactions duplicateThis app is bad. Sync take a long time to do and they don’t check the banking transactions. You may result in 3 duplicated transactions from the same account if you link the bank account three times. They don’t have the feature to check duplicate team transactions came form the same account.Version: 11.24

Regret buying the appProbably my fault so not checking more thoroughly before buying but the description said it connects with bank accounts so I downloaded it and tried to, couldn’t find the feature so I thought it was locked behind a paywall so paid once off for premium. Bank connect feature not available in Australia. Haven’t used the app since it was the top priority feature I wanted..Version: 10.27

Transactions still won’t syncEven though it says that a week ago they released an update to fix this, my transactions are still missing and do not show up. It’s February 10th and I use my banking everyday, yet only 2 transactions show for this month, where there should at least be 20. It makes me enter my banking details every time I open the app, yet still doesn’t sync anything. I’m a past Mint user and this just doesn’t do the job..Version: 11.27

Absolutely baffed$80 for this mess, lmao.Version: 9.13

Used to be greatI’ve been a subscriber for at least 4 years & in the last couple months it’s been declining. First at the beginning of may, all my data on this app was wiped. Had to start fresh & no one answered my email about it. Not happy. And now it won’t stay connected to my bank. It’s already connected but says I need to reconnect. So i do & it gets stuck on the “redirecting” page at the end. Super frustrating. I don’t even care about it being connected to my bank, it is nice to have but I’ve used this app for years without it. But I go to disconnect since it says it’s not really connected anyway & it just stalls. I think I’m about done with this app..Version: 10.21

Almost amazingI really like being able to add in all my expenses and my income and to see where my money is really going but the thing that is really stumping me is why my expenses on the overview are different from my total spent on the budget tab. It’s making how much I have I left to spend inaccurate. It shows I have a certain amount left to spend yet it doesn’t add up to either the expenses or the total spent so I’m hoping writing this review will get me some help! I really enjoy the app but I can’t continue to use it if it’s not going to be accurate and only going to confuse me.Version: 8.11

Advertised feature completely missingAfter almost an hour of searching, I’ve discovered I’m in a country that isn’t supported by their bank integration. That’s fine, except that there’s literally no indication in the app that this is the case, the “connect to bank” feature is just completely missing from the interface. The FAQ doesn’t have this listed either. Consider the frustration you’re causing your users due to this..Version: 10.16

Stay awayAlways requires entering passwords for connecting to the bank and would fail/stuck to pull data most of the time..Version: 11.20

Great but bugsLove it and still use it but app frequently crashes, especially when trying to switch between different views (e.g. monthly and yearly view)..Version: 7.15

Bank don’t workPaid for the app but still can't connect my bank account.Version: 11.31
