Drops: Language Learning Games for Positive User Reviews

Easy!And fun.Version: 38.12

It was awesomeThey tell you how to do the challenges and they say the word you’ve just made so you don’t forget it!!! I love this app. All you have to do is make an account and set a time and your good to go!!!✨ 5 STARS ✨.Version: 36.69

Dwindle away your spare timeDrops is a great app for learning vocabulary - the way it is formatted and structured means it doesn’t feel entirely like learning. It more feels like you’re playing a word game. Those times you have where you’re sat doing nothing, a little bored, you can just start this app up and have a go! As said previously, the app is fab for learning vocabulary - it teaches nothing about sentence structure and grammar etc. This isn’t something you can hold against it, it certainly doesn’t claim that you’ll be fluent speaking in a language sufficiently to speak to a native. I would recommend using it alongside another app/resource to learn the missing points - Duolingo, Babel, Paul Noble audiobooks etc. Great app!.Version: 24.18

Great App ... Great UI ..Great App esp UI /UX makes it fun .. 5 min is achievable . My review comes after using the after for atleast 2 years most of the days .. & It definately is on my shortlist on recommendation to anyone who asks . I prefer to use my storage space & data on commute over an App like Drops versus candy crush or tikitaki & other social 🤯farts.. Don't expect miracles out of this app I don't think it is a replacement to conventional language learning . It definitely is an aid to your conventional language learning , a constructive , creative & educational GAME for me . Good thing : I would highly recommend premium membership if was part of / bundled with my company perks or even target app has freebies woth other premium app cross platform promotion . 1) it was & is part of my routine daily commute activity along with Elevate game . 2) extensive database of language.. 3) small dose big impact on my day . The reason I wouldn't pay out of my pocket for premium membership : 1) I don't have any immediate need for learning a new language. 2) I don't think I would use it more than twice ( 5 min each a day ) 3)even if I did full time one hour a day I don't think this platform would teach me fluency of. Language that may be I can do at a good community college online class. ( My understanding I have not done beyond a certain level ) I wish the level up at some point was 10 min or 2 or 3 session of 5 min a day . Great job guys.Version: 36.49

Confusing pictures, no flashcards, great appI really like the variety of words and the review dojo in the premium version and I think that’s worth it but overall there is still some lacking. The review dojo alone which optimized review frequency to help you learn words + no ads is worth the subscription coser, at least for a year. That said, the pictures are all outlines so it can be really annoying when trying to select. Am I really learning that frambuesa means raspberry, or am I learning that it’s the single berry (blackberry pictures multiple berries.. otherwise I couldn’t tell the difference which is irritating). If you can add color or allow us to switch ones that are confusing that’d be great. Brushing your teeth and toothbrush both have a toothbrush and teeth in them, sii hi that’s another confusing ambiguos example. Secondly, there is always the picture on the screen along with the right answer. That means I can always easily use process of elimination for a few weeks abd still not know the word outside the app. Please add flash cards review so that we can test ourselves without any prompts and learn more fully. Altogether, I’m glad I bought a year but without flash cards I won’t be renewing my subscription..Version: 35.66

GreatI started with the free version, which was good- you get a 5 min session per day. A good little selection of activities to learn and select the right words/phrases. Can learn any of the languages they have, but only 5 mins per day. After a few weeks i upgraded to premium lifetime membership as it was half price, and I love it. I’m currently learning french, and plan to learn hindi after that. With the upgraded version, you can choose how long you want your session to last (5,10, 15 mins, or unlimited). You can do as many sessions as you like in a day then. The Dojo is good for going over words you have already learnt, so that you don’t forget them, and it finds the words you struggled with in the sessions so that you can practice them more. I love the way the streaks work, you can miss a day then practice again the day after and still keep your streak alive. I tend to practice about 3-4 times a week, and I’m still able to easily achieve good streaks. I like how you can see your progress as well with the word counter (novice, tourist, then conversationalist). It’s nice and easy to use, and it has a positive and encouraging feel to it, which makes it more fun to use. I’m using this as a foundation before going onto sentences etc, as i use to use duolingo but found it a bit overwhelming so this is great as a first step in learning a language. Then from here you can easily expand your knowledge. :).Version: 35.62

Best vocabulary building appThis app has been an invaluable tool for me during my year living abroad learning Spanish through immersion. While I don’t think you could learn a language from only this app (nor do I think you could from any one source I know of) this app is great, it’s perfect for beefing up your vocabulary. The words I learn in this app really do stick in my mind, which I can’t say about all vocabulary apps I’ve tried. Using this app alongside a more grammar-based app like Duolingo which teaches verb usage and sentence structure might be a good idea. For me the cost of the premium subscription has really been worth it, but even if you don’t want to pay anything I still think you should check out this app. Really recommend..Version: 35.2

Works really well and enjoyable. Subscriptions confusing and customer support slowAmended review - the app works well, I’ve learned a lot in a short space of time and enjoy doing it, the app really makes good use of the dopamine hit you get from bright, moving graphics when you get something right. Would like it if the variety of different “games” didn’t slim down the more times you see a word - feels like you only get some of them with new words and by the time you’ve drilled a word several times, you’re down to a minimal variety of games. Would also be good to be able to test yourself on words without *any* prompting (the hardest test you get is spelling a word, but you have a selection of letters to choose from). Would also be great to be able to export your word list. And would love it if it was more obvious when you should start a new set of vocab. But mostly great! The subscriptions are super-confusing - 40+ different options under subscriptions in apple settings, bearing no resemblance to the subscriptions offered on the website. And customer support was very slow to reply when I asked for help with that..Version: 35.2

5-Star App, Right Here! Get It While It’s Hot!This is a spectacular app, suited for both newbies and seniors. The pronunciations aren’t always correct, but if you feel shaky on those, just do a quick search on Google or somehin’. I’d recommend it any day, and all I have to say is a huge Gracias to the peeps who made this wonderful app..Version: 31.82

So many languages availableI was amazed by the number of languages available in drops. I want to improve my te reo and it’s been hard to find a practice app but drops has it! The format is attractive and it’s pretty clear what you need to do with each activity. I appreciated being able to mark off the words I knew so I was only focussing on new to me words. Highly recommend..Version: 38.8

Best language learning app - like - everSo I’m going to start off by saying I hate duolingo, it’s hard for me to use, the vocab I learn isn’t useful and it’s just generally way too repetitive and kinda boring. I’m going to Japan this year and need to learn the necessary phrases to get me through the week, I have now learnt all those and am now learning about the culture and how to have a more natural conversation, I can’t re write this review in Japanese but couldn’t confidently show you around an airport! And that’s drips best feature, the fact it adapts for ✨ you ✨ my friends also use drops and one of them is using it to boost her French classes, she could re write this in French but couldn’t show you around an airport. See how it matches to your skill set!! Now I have some feedback: The fact you need to complete one stage to move to another is very annoying and one of the reasons I quit duo, now I still very much enjoy drops but wish I could access plane focussed words over having to learn how to cook in Japanese - for example. I understand this is a premium feature but strongly urge you to make it free as it causes some people to rage quit haha Thanks for reading my review:).Version: 36.65

Restarted using drops, still a 5 star app.I used drops a long time ago and can’t remember the reason why I stopped because I loved it before. I think my premium membership ran out and I lost my habit. Now I’ve started learning Korean (and still learning Portuguese from before) so I reinstalled the app. In addition to the pleasant UI (the colours, sounds, and images/animations) and the interactivity of learning, I have enjoyed some fantastic features which are new for me, mainly the Quiz mode. This mode is fantastic and the more you learn the more enriched the quiz becomes. Other learning techniques often rely on translating which means language learning can be more memory based rather than core learning. Quiz mode is excellent for really testing your knowledge and learning the words and phrases..Version: 36.61

Good, but small things could improveI’m learning Te Reo and while I’m finding the vocab sections helpful, the calendar-oriented graphics (months of the year for example) have illustrations that are for the Northern Hemisphere! So the illustration for February has ice skates and a wool hat, whereas here in NZ February is full summer sunshine, bbq, and beach days. This makes it quite difficult to use the illustrations as any real training aid..Version: 38.22

AwesomeThis game is absolutely awesome! I prefer this app over Duolingo formultiple reasons. First of all, Drops has access to more languages such as Tagalog and Icelandic, which are not in other games. Secondly, Drops lets you learn words that you will actually use in public frequently (numbers, describing terms etc). I use Drops to help learn alphabets of foreign languages, just for fun. The only thing I would request is to add some more popular languages so no one misses out (such as Armenian, Catalan and Georgian). Overall, this app is awesome and I recommend it to anyone who wants to learn a new language. 5/5 stars!.Version: 36.44

Best language learning app EVERDrops is actually amazing! I am a visual learner and what all lot of other language learning apps don’t give me is pictures to go with the words. Drops on the other hand is all about learning with pictures which is what makes it so awesome. I’m learning german so I can go study abroad in germany and my german has improved a lot after using Drops. I highly recommend it for anyone that wants to learn another language. I promise you, you will not regret it..Version: 38.11

Great!Very helpful for basic vocabulary! Uses reading, pictures, and audio all together with different games to help memorization and pronunciation. Not sure how well it would help with verbs or tenses though.Version: 38.15

Gets the Job DoneWhilst I disagree with the modern notion that adults can’t learn new grammar systems, Drops is a quality tool to support learning a language by pushing you through vocabulary lists that would otherwise be forgotten. Don’t exclusively rely on Drops to learn a language, but don’t underestimate what it can do for your fluency either. Unfortunately, it falls short of a perfect score for me because of its obnoxious notifications. If you enable notifications for Drops it’ll pester you all day with worthless messages. I need one notification per day to remind me to do my practice and nothing more. One is better off disabling notifications and setting a recurring Reminder instead. Also, there is no way I have found of clearing a word out of your vocabulary such that you can learn it again. A handful of random words now represent a scar on my dojo from when I tried five minutes of the free version, which I will not get round to learning for an age..Version: 35.2

One of the best language apps out thereThis is my second review for this app. The first one was perfect and this one is too. I have to say that over the past year or so since my last review, the app has added new features that just take it way past the other apps out there if it’s kind. By the end of your first week, you will have learnt vocabulary and the more you practice the more it sticks. Even if you only have ten mins a day you will progress. Edit further to the review above, the layout is really good and I am able to learn more useful words faster in the basic section, then move on to less common words if I want to. There is so much user control within this app it’s unreal. Thank you drops, you have made my learning not just fast, but enjoyable too..Version: 38.19

I am a huge fan of this app. This app incorporates many variations on a single learning feature, that might be considered “nice-to-have” rather than “must-have”, but which make the learning experience all the more engaging. For example, there are several variations on Character stroke practice, going from very guided, to little guidance. I’ve noticed the app is highly customisable too, so you can choose to have English displayed at the same time as Chinese, or hidden away etc. Also, the interface looks beautiful, it feels like a lot of consideration and effort went into the design of this app. Really well done 👍🏻👍🏻.Version: 31.62

AwesomeI love it for me I went to Paris and it helped so much.Version: 38.11

This a legit real person BAHAHAI always feel like reading reviews they are fake and I never know weather I can trust them because I either think it’s a robot or someone trying to get free stuff in the app but for real no lie this app helps so much I’ve only done maybe 4 sessions but I can already make sentences.Version: 27.15

Brilliant way of learning!^especially if you live a busy life. It’s easy to learn towards a chosen language by using this app. I love the fact that it’s timed for 5 minutes, quick and easy and a brilliant way of embedding words in the long term memory. This app is mostly, at least for me, just an extra app to help gain knowledge towards a language rather than learning it in full just from this app alone (I use Duolingo and Memrise, too) but it’s helpful for those days where I just can’t sit down and study. I rarely subscribe to apps but I’m heavily considering it. If you’re interested in learning a language but don’t have the time to dedicate a solid amount of time to it, it won’t hurt to check this app out. They have multiple languages to choose from, even languages I’ve sadly never heard of before. A subscription isn’t necessary either so you have nothing to lose, really <.<.Version: 35.43

RecommendEasy and fun to follow.Version: 38.17

It’s great but there’s a bugIt’s a really good app and i’m learning a lot from it but sometimes the english translate doesn't show up for the whole section. For example i would be doing the food section, it still comes up with the word in the language that you learn, but never the english translations. it would only be for a few of the topics, but i would have to search them up myself, this applies the the collection section too but for some reason only the certain topic in this case food. Hopefully you can fix that but otherwise this is one of the best language learning apps ever.Version: 35.29

Best Language Learning AppIMHO currently the best app to learn a new language or at least new words. After one session, I have actually retained more than I did in a one hour lesson (possibly even a year or two... haha) A tad expensive to unlock premium features and wish I had the funds to do so as I think I could probably greatly improve my language level. We will see my actual improvement after using the app for more than a few times !.Version: 30.51

OkDrops is a great app. It is actually fun and easy to use, and it isn’t too fast paced so it helps you memorize things. It is great in this way, but I have noticed a few problems with it. I am learning Farsi on it, and I have noticed some words, such as bale and sobhane are pronounced incorrectly, using the long e sound instead of the short e. I already knew a little Farsi before I started using Drops, so I could tell this was wrong, but other people who have no experience and nobody to correct them could learn incorrectly. Assuming the app is very expensive, it should be accurate. Also, keep in mind that drops will only teach you words, and at a certain point you will need to learn how to use them in real life situation. For that, I would recommend an app such as Ling app, high is completely free. Depending what you are looking for, drops could be worth it though. If you are a beginner who is committed and willing to spend a lot to get drops (or just use it for five minutes, which isn’t enough time to retain everything in my opinion), than this app is good for you. If you are more advanced and want to learn sentences and more complex phrases, than try Ling app, which isn’t overall as fun but is more informative. Still, I will continue to enjoy Drops as it is great and helpful to a certain extent..Version: 36.5

Very crisp and innovativeThe app itself is very clean. It really met my expectations. It has a large variety in activities which was really fun and helpful. Every activity is different and it really helped me in not getting bored, it also reminds you to learn every day. I’m not sure how my opinion will change in the future however as of right now the free version isn’t terrible, in fact it’s quite good. This is surprising as many language apps require a payment for quality. This app is very reasonable especially for the price that I paid. If you’re learning a language with a non-Latin alphabet, The app shows you both the romanization and the original language which was great since I am learning Hangul and I want to be able to read and write it as Romanizations aren’t always completely accurate. Luckily the app reviews the romanization, the pronunciation, and the original language’s writing. For those looking to learn a new language, especially one with a non-Latin alphabet, drops will be a great addition to your learning tools. My only complaint is the short time span. I wish that you could practice for more than five minutes a day, it’s just way too fun. Thanks for making it so that everyone can learn ✌️❤️.Version: 30.44

Amazing but one thing..This is probably the best learning experience apps I have downloaded .i am learning French and while it’s very hard DROPS makes it easier to retain information because it makes it fun to learn.. it gives you activities that are enjoyable :D . Developers:But one thing …. Why Only 5Mins? It’s extremely annoying when I’m in the middle of learning a word in French when it says “ session complete “ … I think the developers should make the sessions at least 10MINS long.. but this is overall an amazing app ☆☆☆☆☆. Hope you change this :).Version: 36.18

The bestI'm needed to learn a language so I choose a this.Version: 20.5

Must-have for language learners! This is an awesome app for people who are learning a new language, even for people who are a more advanced or familiar with the language as it offers specified and advanced vocabulary for various topics. It wouldn’t work alone as it doesn’t teach any grammar, but it’s amazing on enriching your vocabulary. I’ve been using it only for a couple months but already it had many updates, new vocabulary categories, bug fixes, and improvements. It gives you more than enough time, especially with the streak bonus. One thing I would change, is the way verbs appear. To be more specific, as I don’t think anyone would use this app alone, the verbs should appear on their infinitive form. Also I think it’s lacking a bit in adjectives. For example Food could offer words like tasty, homemade, spicy etc. Overall though this app is a great complimentary tool that no language learner should be without. Looking forward to more specified vocabulary like art tools and terms, chores, colloquial slang, and internet slang. [I’m specifically speaking about romance languages, especially Italian, as that’s what I tried so far, but this could apply to others as well].Version: 30.2

YESOMG 5 minutes I memorized a b c d and e.Version: 38.12

Drip drip dripFun, repetitive learning. It’s helping me a bit quicker than repeatedly writing out Japanese characters on paper. You get more time as a reward the more you stick with it. I’ve found I’m quite excited at waiting for my next short learning session- it stops you doing more for 9-10 hoursish. Not a major obstacle at the free level of the app. It’s meant to drip feed the info to you anyway and stop it becoming overwhelming and hard to remember. My thoughts were instead of paying for premium immediately, if I can stick with it for a month I will upgrade - I can’t afford formal classes just yet but this seems a nice compromise and easier to stick with vs. Sitting down with a textbook for self guided learning..Version: 30.33

I love it!This is such a fantastic app, and I was so excited to see it had Te Reo Māori also. I’m learning Hindi, Māori and Hindi through this app - and it will also be good for expanding my French vocab too. I think it would be really awesome to see more sentences incorporated somehow so I can begin to work more vocab into conversation in the languages I’m learning through the app. Also I haven’t really seen a difference when I toggle between Beginner and Intermediate? It would be good to somehow tailor the course to your current level. On the whole, I love it!.Version: 31.34

For Vietnamese Learners - mix of north/south!!I asked customer service many many months ago if their Vietnamese course was northern style or southern style (they make no attempt to clarify in app). I finally found out from some native speakers that oddly…this app uses both??? Though predominantly southern vocabulary, there is overlap with northern words and northern pronunciations. And there is no attempt made to tell the user which is which. Not good. Bc your user base is trying to learn this language (and paying good money to do so). They cannot possibly tell which words/pronunciations belong to which region. I highly recommend cleaning up the Vietnamese course material or hiring an expert (either northern or southern). There is a big demand for southern. Duolingo already teaches northern style (they too do not disclose the style), which is why I came to Drops. Southern style material is very hard to come by in the US. Even though it’s spoken by 90% of Vietnamese immigrants to the US. I do like the app though. I downloaded this on my mother’s phone and persuaded her to get the lifetime purchase (SO worth it in my opinion for those tight on money/on a budget). I’m very grateful the Drops team still offers this option AND continues to update the app with more vocab). You guys are doing great work. (Just please clean up or differentiate the Vietnamese words and pronunciations as either northern or southern. Pls pls)..Version: 36.69

Good, but a few bugsI'm using Drops to learn Japanese. It's a great app for boosting vocabulary, and the developers have been quick to address issues with it: some sections were missing audio and those have now been fixed. There are still a couple of minor irritations. The app offers you monthly challenges, where you complete a certain number of daily sessions to win a badge. These don't seem to work very well. After my daily session, the app displays a '+1' next to the challenge, but it never seems to register that on the challenge page. I've completed 26 sessions in March, for example, but my '15 Session Motivator' challenge bar is stuck on 1. This has happened every month this year. Secondly, some of the illustrations could use work. I'm currently working my way through 'Japanese lunch', which is a lot of very similar looking bowls of noodles. Especially when the pictures are shrunk down for a matching pairs question, it's very hard to identify which is which. This also happened in some of the other categories. Overall, the app is much improved and the extra quiz modes etc add some variety..Version: 38.20

ItalianI have only been playing for 3 days but I really love this app and have learned so much new words in the last 3 days I just wish the time sessions were longer I understand why they’re not because they want you to go premium but I at least wish the sessions were at least 10 minutes at least if more, and when you go to my collection it always comes up with the premium but I just want to look at my words without that coming up every few seconds.Version: 31.53

Great for vocab, not for grammarFirst off, this app is amazing - one of the best I’ve ever used for learning new vocab in Italian. Having said that, drops does not focus on teaching the grammar of a language, and therefore cannot be used as your only resource in learning a language. This is not a bad thing, as this app specializes in one thing and does that one thing really well, but it’s something to be mindful of. I personally would not recommend drops to total beginners of a language, but I would recommend it to anyone who has previous experience, fair knowledge of the grammar and pronunciation, and is just looking to build their vocabulary. Perhaps you can use it alongside Duolingo to supplement or strengthen your vocab while you build grammar, but I find learning too much vocab in the beginning of learning a language to be a little overwhelming. Nevertheless, top notch app - beautiful design, easy to use interface, the words they teach you are definitely important and some are ones that I wouldn’t have thought to look up on my own, and they bring up previous words during all of your lessons to make sure you still remember it..Version: 30.48

Give it a try!I was looking for a constructive distraction during the pandemic, so figured learning a new language might do the trick. Read a few reviews on different language apps and picked a month plan on Drops. I figured if I lost interest quickly, I wouldn’t be out much. I stayed with it, and renewed with another basic plan for a year. Then after that year, I said why not, and got subscribed to a lifetime premium plan. All was going well, until recently, when my app somehow reverted back to a basic plan, which had continual pop up ads prompting me to upgrade (back) to a premium plan, and also limiting session length to only 5 minutes. Not sure what happened, but contacted Drops support, and they worked with me to get the app restored to what I had purchased last fall. It did take a few days to get this resolved, but ultimately the issue was taken care of satisfactorily. The actual sessions are fun and can keep you engaged to keep learning. I spent about a year learning Hindi, and now have been learning Greek since then. Unfortunately I don’t have anyone to practice my learned words with, so that would be helpful to really lock in the words you’ve learned. But that is no fault of the app. The bottom line is it’s kept me engaged since I’ve started. My streak is currently at 613 days which probably is the only time in my life I’ve started something and stayed with it! Give it a try!.Version: 36.18

Fantastic AppI adored this App with a passion. It was absolutely simplistic and didn’t over complicate such a difficult concept to learn. It was such an amazing App in which you had an enormous list of new languages to learn from. Because of it’s simplicity in the form of layout, presentation and voice over, it made the task of wanting to learn an entirely new language so interesting and enjoyable that I wanted to learn more. In just less than five minutes, I had learnt almost ten new Japanese words that I had never even attempted before. I can memorise them because Drops has designed it in a way that something so complex becomes as simple as a touch away. I recommend this App for anyone who is interested in learning a new language, or 10!.Version: 30.10

Pretty good I like the way they teachAwesome.Version: 38.17

Great for learning! The free version is very useful and it gives you 5 minutes of great practice each day. I have the yearly subscription which gives you more languages, more topics, customized learning times, and more learning games. I’d suggest using this app and starting with the free version to see if you like the basic format and how much you use it. I like the premium for more intense learning (increased times, repeating sessions more than once a day, and more topics). I got mine during a sale period and they seem to offer sales a lot so I would say it is worth it if you are serious about learning one or more languages. I used to use Duolingo and liked that but it wasn’t helpful for learning Korean. Drops is so much more practical and I like the games. I am learning how to write and read in Korean but it uses adaptive learning so that you get the romanization first and they ease new words into hangeul. I love that this app teaches you useful phrases too! The only thing I don’t like is the writing game for the letters. Drawing it out on the screen isn’t very accurate, it can be frustrating, and it’s not the same as writing with a pen. However, it’s not a big deal because you can just skip that topic and jump to whatever topic you want to do. I had an issue with my premium service not being recognized each time I opened the app and so I would have to restore the purchase each time but I contacted support and they fixed it within a day!.Version: 34.55

Fun and engagingHonestly I struggle with a lot of language learning apps because they’re not very useful, they teach me words I don’t care to know and they get boring. Drops brings the fun game element to learning and keeps you on your toes and engaged. Through a mixture of listening reading and writing, it forces you to ako words quickly and effectively!! 11/10 loving it so far! I bought the lifetime subscription as well which even if I don’t use it forever was still worth it for the unlimited 15min sessions a day. On the standard free plan it’s 5minutes a day but even that is enough to get the ball rolling. Can’t praise this app enough. Also the graphics are visually appealing and fun!.Version: 35.92

Most helpful vocabulary building tool yetI’m someone who has been pretty hood with using apps like Duolingo to help me build up my language skills, but I also became quite stagnant in it. It’s good for practicing sentence structure and grammar, but I was struggling with pronunciation and actually building up vocabulary. And without those skills, no one was understanding me. I was skeptical about Drops at first and was committed to just using the free version. But I liked it so much and was learning so many new words that I found that I was watching the ads over and over to up my daily practice time from like 5 minutes to about 15 per day. So when a good deal popped up for a premium plan, I was quick to buy it. I love using this app because it’s helping me with exactly what I needed help with and it does so in a way that keeps you hooked. It’s not boring flashcards, it’s a good picture-memory system that makes sure you learn the articles associated with the words, that you get to here the pronunciation over and over, and helps you with spelling in a way that doesn’t involve typing. I’m super happy with this purchase..Version: 35.58

Amazing appOf course the 5 minute timer is a bit of a bummer, but it won’t effect your learning at all. This app is very clear about the pronunciation, and even if you do not understand, I love the option to go into my word collection and hear them again without going into my 5 minute learning time. They have a wide variety of languages, with the same amount of variety in categories to learn. Overall, I recommend this app for anyone who is learning a new language, and I guarantee you will be fluent in no time..Version: 35.93

Best language app I’ve usedI previously gave this app 4 stars as while I thought the style, design and content were brilliant - the app forced to to log in and select your language every day - which almost made me give up. Thankfully the developers have now fixed this and I’ve been looking forward to my daily dose of drops ! I’ve used many language apps and this one is my favourite. It uses native recorded speakers (rather than often dubious text-to-speech) and the content is well organised. It uses a combination of a number of different learning techniques, I think the best being their clever use of images to associate with a word/phrase. Like all language apps they’re not good for “learning” a language as they don’t teach you anything but as a refresher/vocabulary builder/ travel help, this app is brilliant. Definitely gets my 5 stars..Version: 34.37

Good for learning new wordsI’ve been using this app for a while and suddenly I just learned some 200 new words, so in that essence it works. Just a little bit everyday added to quite something. It’s best for someone who has a familiarity with their target language, know basic grammar and just want to add more words into their vocabulary. Simply because there’s nothing on the grammar and can be confusing if they’re starting with zero knowledge of the language. My only complaints are on the technical part; first, this app loves to log me out every so often. It’s not a big deal but kinda making me worried that I’d lose my progress at some point. Second, some sentences are awfully long, often they don’t even fit within the answer box, and they got cut off at really weird parts. For instance, instead of separating the sentence into distinct words they got parted like this: “I wan tto eatso me eggs” (I’m learning Japanese but illustrating it in English). I guess because the sentence/words got processed by the AI that way, minor annoyance but when something like that come up I tend to just give the wrong answer to progress quicker. Otherwise, I’m enjoying using the app and it has helped me learn new words. So if you’re learning a new language and want additional study material on the side, I can definitely recommend this..Version: 34.74

Very good appI love this app a lot and have been using it for months with no issues. I do wish there were less slides/stat updates after you finish a sessions because it’s annoying having to click through all of it. I also wish there was more explanation for some words like context or grammar points. One more thing I don’t like is that they always put “저는” before a verb in the Korean course. It takes away from memorizing the word because I immediate know it’s a verb when I see “저는”. Plus, in Korean, pronouns can often be omitted so it’s unnecessary to add it in the first place. Don’t let this deter you from getting the app, though! It’s an amazing app for the cost and has helped me learn the language and practice reading, listening, and speaking Hangul. There are quite a few languages to choose from on the app, it has a simple design layout that is natural to use, and is aesthetic to look at. 10/10 recommend Big note: Drops will not help you learn grammar for your target language! It is purely a vocabulary app. I didn’t realize that fully until after I paid for it so if that is something you’re not interested in, don’t buy it..Version: 35.81

Seriously love thisPls add romanized versions of Arabic words in the explore tab! They only show up when seeing for the first time in lessons. The app has gotten a lot better, they listened and to past suggestions. Here are some more! 1. Customs A big lacking versus competitors like SpanishDict and Quizlets is the ability to make custom lists. The thing is that with the rarer languages there’s less competition ans u take what U can get 😂. Ik y’all don’t have every word but you could make an option to make custom lists from the ones u do. I sense a workaround through yalls favorites feature, but I would have to unlock words to know them which I want to start w the most frequent which is the point. There is a competitor app called Fluent Forever that I really don’t want to have to pay for, so it looks like I’ll be making some flashcards myself. I’d love to do it on your app! 2. Conjugation There are singular cards of “I (verb)” but most conjugations aren’t learned by memorization. There are patterns & stems and conjugation is different than vocab. I know typing conjugations is text heavy, but you all have found ways around that for vocab that could be applied. For now I’ll have to outsource to Conjuguemos for that. 3. Voice review They have on SpanishDict! Good stuff! 4. Grammar Ik grammar isn’t easily gamifiable. But it’s smth u may want to add to get in the game. Congrats for the Kahoot acquisition... thx for the app!.Version: 36.63

Fun and entertainingYou don’t realize just how much your learning when it just seems like your playing a game!! Very good if your a hands on visual learner!! You can also take charge the way you want to or you can let the app guide you based off what you already know! Happy learning 🤗✨.Version: 38.11

Developers have responded quickly to give more secure sign-in options*Edit: I was excited to see that you have updated to add e-mail login: Bravo!! I’ll change my rating to 5 stars. Thank you for giving users the opportunity to use your app without having to involve Facebook or Google and all of the privacy risks they carry. I look forward to continuing my language-learning journey with Drops.* Original: The app seems clever and I am making progress in various languages. It it is very disappointing that I can’t save my progress and sync without having to sign in via one of the data sponges, Facebook or Google. I object to these awful third party data vacuums knowing my every move. Edit, 29 Sept: Given yesterday’s enormous data breach affecting 90 million Facebook accounts, I rest my case. Why would I want any of my data or activities anywhere near Facebook??.Version: 29.1

Great!Easy to use!.Version: 38.17

Brilliant app but a couple of errorsI am making great progress learning Arabic vocabulary - the app seems to find exactly the right level of difficulty. However I am knocking a star off today because the tough word dojo function had a number of issues : at least four of the word pronunciations were not not related to the written word. The standout example was tomato, which was correctly written in Modern Standard Arabic طماطم but transliterated as ‘banadura’ (the sound recording also said banadura) which is the Lebanese dialect for tomato - this would have a completely different spelling i.e. بنادور - this is confusing for beginners. The other examples left off the ال when speaking the written word and in one case spoke the plural of potato when the singular was written. Fix this and let me pinch zoom the Arabic words so I can see the tiny dots properly and I will give you six stars!.Version: 31.74

DropsAwesome game.Version: 38.13

Great!I just finished my first lesson and I can tell from the start that this is really going to help me with French. On other learning languages apps, they don’t quite have what this app has. The other ones are all serious, but this app has sort of a chill vibe to it. I really recommend it to others, there are so many different languages to learn, whether it’s for school, work, home, etc, it’ll be a great learning tool. I started off thinking that this was like all the other apps, forcing me to cram everything into my head at once, but this app takes it slow, and gets you to practise it over and over again until you finally know it. I love this app and I’m sure others will to! :).Version: 35.40

Really good app but 1 problem that isn’t bigThis app is really good! It’s the only app that I’ve found that actually helps me remember the words I’m reading, it has a good layout and easy access to different things. The only problem I have is premium is a bit expensive but it makes sense because of how good it is, but I’m still not sure if I should buy it, either way it’s a really good app that deserves more attention and I would really recommend it for anyone who is just starting out or even coming back to learning it.Version: 34.73

Brilliant for increasing vocabularyWho doesn’t have 5 minutes a day to increase your vocabulary in another language? This is just what I was looking for to complement my in-person reo Māori learning. Common words and less common words with correct spelling and pronunciation! I have only been using Drops for little over a month but I love it. I do my 5 minutes every lunch time..Version: 36.18

Beautiful App, Great Customer Service!I’ve used a lot of apps to study various languages over the years(Japanese, Korean, Farsi, Arabic, Mandarin). While there is no magic app that will automatically make you fluent without putting in the work, this app comes pretty close to just that. Here are three immediate reasons why you should give it a try: #1. Studying with DROPS feels easy on the brain and so you study more often. The unique and beautiful design makes it fun to look at and prevents boredom, making it more likely you’ll keep coming back to study. Dragging and dropping replaces boring flash cards, and cute, intuitive animations actually help memorization. Have you seen the color schemes? #2. Customization allows you to pick and choose what you want to learn and how often your sessions are. An app is only as good as its ability to be adapted to your brains learning needs. I like the flexibility of DROPS because you can select different topics to practice instead of having to follow a set progression. #3 Customer Service! I had a question about the app and within a day I received a personal response from the co-founder that addressed my concerns in a way that exceeded my expectations for app companies. This app is clearly made with care and intentionality and driven by a desire to produce and excellent product and support to the user. I look forward to future updates and am confident this app will continue to be a good user experience..Version: 38.15

Learning icelandic!I wasn’t expecting there to be much content on here but to my surprise there is lots! I love the layout and how the different sessions are categorised. I also love how you get pictures which you can tap on to see the word. I am a very visual learner so this feature has helped me immensely. To my surprise, I have been doing pretty well in learning icelandic despite having trouble learning and remembering languages. If you are learning icelandic or any other language I highly recommend this app. It is well worth the subscription. I never write reviews but this app is amazing!.Version: 36.40

So Effective! Very happy they have Te Reo!Always wanted to learn Te Reo Māori as it is the indigenous language of my country. I’ve had trouble learning languages in classroom environments. This app takes all the tricks and tools of fun apps and games and uses them to help you learn vocabulary super quickly and effectively. 10/10.Version: 30.41

Good but too much repetition and bad algorithmThe app is well designed, simple and easy to use. Unfortunately, it forces you to repeat the words too many times in a row when learning new material. I understand the need for repetition (I’m a language teacher) but this should be more staggered and with more productive activities (e.g. speaking and writing). You should at very least be able to change this in the settings. As someone who has a reasonable grasp on a couple of languages but wants to improve his vocab, I have found it to be a bit of a slog and struggle to keep any concentration or motivation. I’d also love to see more through put into the algorithm and how vocab images appear alongside others. Often very confusing combinations come up and cause frustration. For example when learning drinks an image of bottled water appears with the seemingly correct title ‘l’eau’ (water). When I click that it’s correct, it states that actually the answer is ‘l’eau minérale’ (mineral water). On another screen, it gives me the word ‘boisson’ (drink) and shows me 4 images of drinks..Version: 36.55

I love it!! But one problemThis app really helps me to learn languages faster! the selection of languages is great and you don’t have a Siri robot voice. One thing I think you should change is the amount of time each day for the normal app. 5 minutes a day is a big restriction against the people who want to learn on drops but DONT wand to spend money. It’s really annoying how I spent 5 minutes learning how to say food in Japanese, then I can’t spend any more time on any other categories or languages until 10 hours is up😔. I overall love this app, but the limitations are crazy!! At least make it 10 minutes or 1/2 minutes each category/row for free. ANYTHING JUST PLEASE I WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE LIKE HALF SN HOUR A DAY!!!👏👏🙏🏻🙏🏻.Version: 31.82

Makes learning languages fun & easy! The aesthetics are so beautiful plus makes learning languages so much easier as they grab your attention! Also, not having to type in answers is brilliant as it can ruin the experience and make it a lot less smooth; I also love that you can practice writing Hangul ‘letters’ as part of the Korean course. This really advances the learning experience and allows the material to really absorb into your mind so easily. My only issue is with the price of the pro version. The way the app is advertised on the App Store leads you to believe that 100% of the content is free; however upon downloading I quickly learned that only 5 minute sessions are included in the free version and that not all material is unlocked unless a pro version is purchased. I appreciate it costs time and money to create such a beautiful and enhancing learning experience however a lower price point for the pro version/allowing more content to be available for free would attract so many more users and allow a better learning experience for all :) Love the app otherwise, it really is my favourite out of all the language apps I have tried so thank you!.Version: 30.44

Great Supplementary ContentAmazing vocabulary to supplement other learning. The team listens very closely as well and made some quality of life improvements. Highly recommended!.Version: 38.15

Honest :)So far this app has been pretty good, I haven’t done much so I’m unsure of certain features. There’s many things to access still without paying which is something I always like in apps such as these. The option to hide words you may already know is a good feature, the visual aids will help things stick in your memory and repetition also helps. Five minutes isn’t much of course and waiting ten hours seems a lot, although I know there are other ways to obtain time. All and all this is pretty bien so far with some adjustments in the future!.Version: 34.19

I wanted to give it 5 stars, but...It’s a great app if you pay for it, and a handy one if you want five free mins a day. Constructive criticism - provide a feedback button on your app and website... Seriously? Why haven’t you done this yet..? Second, often, the illustrations that help serve as clues for translating a word/phrase are not clearly different enough to other illustrations - that’s easily fixed with a re-design. And third, too often, there are complicated, long, difficult to pronounce phrases where the translation doesn’t last nearly long enough on screen to read and absorb it... To remember the spelling... Two seconds and it’s gone. I’m learning French and “Combien de temps faut-il pour aller à l’aéroport?” (Among others) is a nightmare to remember..Version: 34.74

Great introI’m learning basic Arabic as my partner is from Saudi and I have a lot of Arab friends. Although I still am intimidated by the written words I feel I benefit from this app with the multiple styles in which the words are presented for learning and memory. Not too repetitive and five minutes is very achievable..Version: 34.88

Lifetime Access Is A Worthy InvestmentThis app is the most user friendly and most straightforward language app I've tried yet. It is also the only one (out of a dozen or more) that I have actually stuck with and put money into! It's updates are helpful and add new content, the male and female voices are clear and concise, and the pictures are interesting and clear in meaning. I have tried lessons in: Japanese, German, Spanish, and a few other languages. About 15 mins a day, before bed, is good enough to get you remembering dozens of words a week. Even better is to practice for 15 minutes after waking up and 30 mins before bed. While there are times that I have slacked off and not studied, Drop's simplicity and fun has kept me remembering the lingo over the past 3 years I have been coming back to it. I have stuck with this app and paid for the lifetime access to ALL of their languages; the list of languages keeps growing too! All in all, this app is catchy, fun, and easy to use. I'm glad I found it. The only thing that would make this app more perfect is if the Drops Team added some of the Gaelic and Native American languages like: Welsh, Scots Gaelic, and Cherokee..Version: 35.19

Great app but I have one suggestion…I really love this app! I use it for learning Korean and it has been a great addition to my studies! It is more fun than going through flash cards and uses a system similar to Anki so once it knows I have mastered a word, I won’t see it as often. It tests me in multiple ways so I’m even familiar with the writing as well as the verbal language. Uses images helps me to not have an English equivalent to Korean words and that has helped me to recall words and not stumble having to think of the English word and then the Korean one. I do have a suggestion for the Developers: Please make a group of topics for VERBS. I think verbs are the most important thing to know when trying to form my own sentences and since I don’t plan on visiting Korea for at least another year, the plethora of traveler topics are not a priority for me. I purchased the yearly subscription and the only thing that I can think of to improve this app is to add a few verbs-based topics. I also have a tip for anyone using the app; TURN ROMANIZATION OFF. It has been a huge help for me (not using romanization) since a lot of Korean does not phonetically romanize well. To avoid he confusion, turn it off and after an hour or two of wondering if you made the right decision, you’ll realize taking away the training wheels (romanization) makes this app better and helps you learn better..Version: 33.0

Ka pai tenei!I have been learning te Reo Māori and while I have the sentence structure down, I don’t have the vocabulary yet for everyday use. Both me and my wife have downloaded this app and we are competing against each other. It’s been really fun! I am a bit worried that it misses the point sometimes and some translations aren't accurate. For example, "Ka tunu ahau" doesn't mean "I cook" it actually means "I will cook". The app doesn't indicate the correct tense. Also, while "Tënä koe" can be used to say thank you it's not really the meaning of the words. It is a respectful greeting. Kia ora isn't "hello" it's "be fully alive". It is used to greet people, but it's not hello..Version: 31.0

Amazing for EstonianI use it for my Estonian all the time Very good app I only wish I could do more than 5 mins a day.Version: 38.15

Vaut le coupUne app que j’aime, simple et ludique. Je regrette seulement que la barre de progression n’aille pas plus vite en fonction de ses réussites..Version: 38.19

Salamat Thanks!Good.Version: 38.15

Great but just one little thing...I love this, I look forward to using it everyday and having pictures triggers the visual side of things for me to learn (I need to see, rather then just hear, so it’s great!). But I have reached ‘tourist’ level which doesn’t seem quite right to me as I’ve only learnt basic foods! I didn’t realise that I could choose what to do under each topic but I wish the app knew I had only been studying foods (why foods is placed above helpful travel phrases as the first topic it gives you when first using, I don’t know) to know that I’m deff not at the ‘tourist’ level which indicates I can converse the language and get by. Unless we’re talking food and veggies, I won’t get by like it indicates! Other then that, it’s great!.Version: 31.59

5 stars BUT, BUT, BUT…Edit: Updating my review. This has become one of the buggier apps I’ve ever worked with. I’ve had to delete it twice in as many months because it completely froze, and lost a lot of progress because it is apparently saved locally. It keeps its five star review because it’s also one of the BEST apps I’ve ever used, and they are constantly working to improve it. The bugs are becoming beyond a joke at the moment though. Will remove this edit once performance consistently improves. If it doesn’t then I may have to knock off a star as it will become difficult to wholeheartedly recommend it. Original review: The best flash-card style foreign language vocab app I’ve found, by a long distance. I’ve been using it every day for months Nice interface, well-designed, large lexicon, and for me, easily worth the cost of a subscription.Version: 36.54

Cantonese PronunciationHi as a native cantonese speaker I have to say that the rendition of this cantonese learning machine is absolutely amazing because cantonese is an extremely hard dialect to not only learn but teach. I do have to say though there are points where pronunciation does lack a little and the jyutping (cantonese pinyin) doesn’t match what’s said. sometimes also the words can have a more vivid meaning to it, i’m not saying the meanings are wrong but there are sometimes more than one way to say something, most of the time the other meaning is more elaborate. All in all i really think that this is great for building up on cantonese phrases and day to day use of vocabulary, although the sentences are brief, the use of another language learning app will sure to give you the boost you need in learning cantonese..Version: 24.18

Easy to useI love using this. The free version is more than enough. Gives little time but really helps to ingrain words into memory.Version: 30.46

Engaging Way to Learn a LanguageI've been using drops for about three weeks now, specifically to leisurely learn Japanese. I have the "genius" subscription (about $8 a month--I think--for unlimited use). I've found it to be a fun and convenient way to build my vocabulary. In the Japanese section there are over a 1000 words available, so there's plenty of material. After introducing a word, the app gives a good mix of entertaining matching, spelling, etc. drills to help cement the word. For Japanese, there's two difficulty settings: beginner (only hiragana) and intermediate (katakana and kanji). There's also an option to have romaji subtitles. I've found the beginner setting great for working on basic pronunciation and the intermediate good for getting familiar with kanji. In the beginner setting, there's a hiragana section in which you can get familiar with all the symbols (which I loved). There isn't a section for voiced hiragana or voiced katakana, but there are other flash card-style apps available for the syllabaries, so it's not a huge issue. The app has a dojo section in which you can practice all the words you've reviewed together. I've really liked it as a way of gauging my progress. For me, the dojo always crashes on the intermediate setting, but when I contacted drops about it they replied right away, and I'm confident they'll fix it. Overall, I think this is a great app and I definitely recommend it..Version: 22.5

Interactive LearningI am trying to find a way to learn a language because I will be sent to different parts of asian for my clinical practice. This app made my learning experience fun, informative and easier to learn. It does not push you to learn a lot of stuff but it breaks it down everyday which is really good..Version: 36.28

DropI enjoy using drops and it seems pretty accurate. The only thing I don’t like is when you are learning more than one language, you only have 5min for all of them. Not 5min for each..Version: 38.12

Mind blowing 🤯I just downloaded this app and have already learned so much from it! I’ve learned how to say at least 10 words In Korean just by taking my 5 minute lesson! I would recommend this app for anyone who wants to learn how to speak a language they know nothing about. My best friend downloaded this app to learn how to speak Korean, and told me I should try it instead of using Duolingo. This app is much more effective. I don’t want to be rude or offensive but Duolingo isn’t the best way to learn a new language. Drops is a much better way to try something new. It’s not only easy, but it’s really fun too! When using drops, it makes you feel okay about making mistakes! Another thing I love about this app is that sometimes, instead of guessing by the english pronunciation, it shows you the characters in KOREAN. It’s really a mind boggling esxperience for me since I’ve always wanted to read Korean! I’m now able to memorize multiple characters in korean like 봄, 꽃, and 부활절! If you’re thinking about learning Korean, or just any language in general, Drops is DEFINITELY the way to go!! ✨.Version: 36.59

Fantastic alternative to DuolingoI am neurodivergent and have been searching for a game type visual/audio based language learning app that is an alternative for Duolingo as the Bosnian language course is not available on there. I’ve been searching for a Bosnian language course for over a year and a half and so many apps did not offer it. I am so excited that I’ve finally found this!! Giving this 4 stars as my initial thoughts and first impressions on the practicality and functionality of the app. The idea of focusing on one course at a time is great but I would ideally like to have the options to switch between courses as I am also actively working towards Arabic, Turkish, French etc (11 languages total) Some languages have similar words or borrow from one another and learning multiple languages can be very beneficial. The ability to switch between language courses in the free plan will definitely bring my rating up to 5 stars. I believe access to education should always be free. I understand that creating apps like this takes time, effort and skills. Developers should be paid for the work they are doing. When I can afford it, I will definitely be looking into subscription options. I will definitely try to update my review as I continue along! Big thanks to the developers, you have no idea how excited I am to finally find a Bosnian course!!.Version: 38.15

Problem in changing the languageI was learning Vietnamese and tried other languages and wanted to go back to Vietnamese. But the 'close' button was too high, so I couldn't click Vietnamese which is at the bottom of the list. So I had to delete and download it again. I'm using iphone SE, just in case. And when I learned numbers, it wasn't in right order so I was confused. But still I think this is the best app for learning words easy and fun. Worth to pay money for this. Thanks for the hard work to everyone in this team who made this amazing app..Version: 30.44

Beautifully designed - makes vocabulary fun!I love this app, the concept behind it is smart and the interface is engaging. The developers seem to have a realistic understanding of what it takes to learn something. I’ve found that other apps move on too quickly, before you’ve had a chance to memorise things, but Drops encourages you to keep practicing before you move on. Hearing the correct pronunciation is also extremely helpful when learning at home. If Drops is expanding it’s range of languages it would be cool to see some of the more obscure ones like Latvian, for example. It’s one of those languages where the only learning resources are ugly, outdated and give no clues about pronunciation. There are basically no other decent apps for those languages yet..Version: 28.4

My fave language learning app! After spending way too much time on Duolingo, after I found this it’s like a breeze of fresh air! I absolutely adore the design, makes learning way more fun and I think it is organised in a great manner, I love the fact that you can get the app to “memorise” the words you want and not memorise those you don’t need or already know. This constant repetition is such a good way to enrichen the vocabulary. I really really love it and keep recommending it to everyone looking for good language learning apps. Of course this won’t make you fluent, but this is an amazing aid or even a way to keep practising daily if you don’t have time to commit to a full blown exercise book course that day. So yeah, no complaints whatsoever!.Version: 34.62

Bob HumeAwesome app! I’m having fun and learning lots!!.Version: 38.17

Soooo goodUpdate: Today I have reached streak day number 799 !! My family are amazed that I have kept going for this long…it’s just part of my lifestyle now. Still loving it 🥰 This app has been very helpful in terms of motivation. The streak allows for a single day to be missed, but not two consecutive days to be missed; because of the way this is set up, I have been able to reach a 365 day streak which feels amazing and I find it very encouraging..Version: 36.68

Good for beginners & advanced! This is the only vocab learning app that I’ve found to be a good multi-tool for beginners and advanced speakers! I originally downloaded it at first to learn Russian vocabulary, in which I’m essentially a total beginner. I soon realized you can easily switch between many languages, and as a C1 level German speaker, thought I’d see what they had to offer there. Because of the way Drops organizes lessons into themes, I’m able to learn/re-learn vocabulary for subjects that I didn’t learn or have since forgotten in my path to fluency (like specific flower types, elements of biology, etc.), without first having to suffer through beginner’s vocabulary. Although there’s always a few words I already knew, I have, notably, still learned at least one new word from each 5-minute lesson in new subjects (which is a victory to me) or relearned words which I only previously glossed over in my studies. I’ve also found it completely worth it to pay for the full version of the app in order to have unlimited learning sessions, which is a lot coming from me, as I do not purchase apps as a general rule. Thank you for giving me a small foundation on which to continue my Russian studies and for improving my advanced German skills one word at a time! :).Version: 28.5

Loving it!I've tried tons of apps to try and learn vocabulary in a fun way and this one makes me want to come back and learn more several times a day. I'm using it for Korean but it has over 30 languages and always adding more. It's a bit expensive but I decided to get a year subscription on the first day. Of course you can't depend on one app alone to learn a language, but using the 80/20 principal, a strong vocabulary with the most frequently used words is the best place to start. So I'm planning to use it along with books later and native speakers since I already live in Korea. A great feature of it is allowing you to choose your lesson topics while it remembers words you learned before and brings them up so you don't forget them. I was worried about how it handles verbs, but it seems to be shown in usable forms. Don't think it'll help with Grammer, so I'm planning to get that from other sources anyways. Really happy with it so far and look forward to learning with it again and again! That's more than I can say for any other language app I've used..Version: 36.45

Simple so farSeems ok so far except that I can’t seem to get the sound to work. I was stuck on a question because I didn’t know what I was supposed to do. Apparently I should have been hearing a word and choosing the corresponding image. My volume was up and sound was on in the settings but I heard nothing. Also, I may have set my knowledge rating too low to start as the questions are pretty simple. I’ll try to reset it..Version: 38.12

Definitely RecommendThis app has been very helpful for me in making progress with learning Korean. I 100% recommend this as Drops creates a fun and effective way to learn new languages. The only problem i have is the fact that i only get 5 minutes a day because i don't have enough money to pay. I was wondering if there was any way you could decrease the waiting time, or if there were any other ways i could get free time. That would be incredibly helpful to me. Thank you :).Version: 30.33

Pretty goodMakes Hebrew seem easy.Version: 20.5

Worth GettingGreat design. Conceptually sound. The only feedback I have is, I think for each module I’d love the option of instead being given the option to restart the module (which is still great btw), you can also choose to do the flash cards for those words specifically and select the type of flash cards you want to practice with for those words. I think it would amazing too if you can choose what types of flash cards to learn from for all modules. Regardless if you’re repeating a module. The cards with the words broken into bubbles is something I’d forgo as it more time consuming than effective. Regardless, very effective and fun..Version: 35.11

One of the best language apps I’ve used.Drops is one of the best language apps I’ve used! I was in the middle of learning Russian a few years ago when the wonderful app I was learning through just disappeared; I’ve tried so many apps since and none of them measured up. That is until last week when I downloaded and tried a bunch more and came across drops. It’s fantastic! It uses games and visual aids to help you learn and just makes the whole learning experience fun! It also has a huge variety of languages available for you to learn and you’re able to switch between them, all in the one app. I’ve now signed up for an annual subscription and am learning a few languages at a time now. Thank you so so much for making such an amazing app!! Learning a language has never been more fun. Highly recommend and two thumbs up 👍🏼👍🏼.Version: 34.7

A good app, but could be bettetThis app has fast become one of those you use every day. It’s the most enjoyable and least frustrating way of learning language for free I’ve ever come across. However, there are one or two ways it could be improved: After using it for about three months, I have yet to have been given the opportunity to learn sentence structure. The ability to combine the words I learn is a very necessary one. Some of the icons look too similar. For example ‘la pluie’ (the rain) has an almost identical icon to ‘il pluet’ (it rains), causing me to mess up and lose valuable time. If ‘il pleut’ were animated, like the other verbs, this would be better. Finally, the time could be stored cumulatively. The 5 minutes a day method is useful, as it means you can learn on the fly, without it feeling like a lesson. However, if I finish a unit with less than 30 seconds left, I typically just leave it. If this were stored and added on to the next day, I wouldn’t feel as though I wasted it. The same is true of a surprise 10 minute gift, often to long to fit into my routine, although I want to use it. If this were stored, I could pick it up on a less busy day. To conclude, a great app, and if you make these improvements it would truly be 5 star..Version: 28.4

Amazing App, one requestI recently bought a yearly subscription, and have been loving Drops. I find it much more effective than Duolingo, especially in terms of the visuals. I am currently studying Hebrew, and my only suggestion / request is this: there are certain activities where you piece together the words syllables. In Hebrew and other languages, you are given a transliteration to piece together, rather than the actual Hebrews letters. I, and many others would greatly appreciate if we were given the letters in the language we were studying rather than a transliteration of those letters. It would make the studying much more effective, especially for learning to write in the chosen language, not just understand. Thanks!.Version: 35.64

Avis sur Drops 2024-03-07Différence dans l’intensité des sons pas toujours agréable Certaines expressions n’ont pas de son.Version: 38.17

Great for vocabularyThis app is very good for repetitive practice of vocabulary, and learning kana and kanji, but it won’t teach you how to speak Japanese. It’s fun and engaging. I have used Drops daily for three months now and have a vocabulary of 600+ words. The strength of this app comes when using it with other apps that focus on grammar and sentence structure. It makes progressing in those apps much quicker. Also I found I progressed much faster in all apps once I turned off romanji and forced myself to only use the hiragana and katakana. My only complaint, and the reason for 4 stars, is that some of the picture prompts are either too similar to one another or not clear about what is being represented especially for abstract concepts like love, please, thank you, etc. So during a Dojo Review session when I’m being quizzed on words I haven’t seen in a few weeks it is difficult to remember what the image is trying to convey. Aside from this I enjoy the app. I’m glad I bought it and it was well worth the cost. I got two subscriptions, one for myself and my husband, and we both use it daily along with Kana Drill and Duolingo..Version: 36.60

Amazing app - but hurts my eyes!!!!Absolutely delivers on what it sets out to do - be a fantastic vocabulary based companion app to learning a language. It’s gamified enough to be very fun but is still challenging in the rights ways. Sometimes it’s glitchy and slow on my ios - but this is forgivable. My one wish is that there was an option to change the flashing colours - since the update a few months ago where the background will change to a different vibrant colour depending on the kind of exercise it hurts my eyes and gives me a headache 😢 I haven’t been able to enjoy it as much as I have been since. Please give the option to change back to the original with no flashing colours! The graphic design is otherwise so lovely!!.Version: 36.9

Super graphics no 5 star because too easyIt would be nice if the meaning of each syllable was there not the entire word (Sanskrit).Version: 38.17

I love it! It’s the best learning language app out there!!!!This app is great for learning new languages! It’s so much fun! And easy to learn new words! It’s more fun to learn a new language! I really enjoy this app, but there’s one thing you could do to make it even better! Instead of only doing a section 5 minutes long and then have to wait for 10 hours to do the other one what if you could have more time if you get the answers correct? if you do really good on your first section then you get more time for the next one And so on? So maybe instead of 5 minutes you can do 15 minutes for free? If you do really well on the sessions ? And only have to wait an hour to have time back filled up? Other then that this is the BEST learning language app! Out there! Thank you for reading this, have a wonderful day! Please get this app if you want to learn ANY languages, Ps. I’ve been looking for the right learning language app for DAYS, my search is now over thank you again! And get this app if you want to learn any language! Because it’s fun & easy! This is why I gave the great app a 5 Star review! I really really love this app and enjoy it!.Version: 30.17

Amazing app but…….Amazing app honestly and im so glad it had te reo māori because ive been struggling to find an app that does anyway the issue is i think its teaching māori from alover nz because i got taught that second was tuarua but in this it was hekona i dont officialy know if im right but yea other thsn that this is an amzing app and i highly recommend it has most languages or even more highly recommend the only issue i found was that Thank you developers for the amazing app.Version: 38.17

Great learning modelI’ve been very happy with how this app teaches. Repetition works well for me, but also the visual aids and progression are really well done. It learns from your weaknesses and alters the learning plan appropriately. You never feel like your being punished for not getting the right answer, instead the learning model adjusts to help you proceed..Version: 36.62

Good but…This is a very good 👍 learning app but… it only can be used for about 5 minutes so the person who created this app if you are watching this please make the time more without spending money 💰 but other than that this is a very good app👍.Version: 38.12

This app is amazingI love this app so much, it's helped me learn so many languages already.Version: 20.5

Finally!!...An App that doesn’t bore you to death!I’ve been trying to learn a language for passing home now and it does interest me, although every single app I downloaded and I found myself using it for 1 to 3 days maybe and then never using it again. Drops is awesome and i actually look forward to it every day....😍😍😍 even on my busy days (every day LOL)That’s notifies me to remind me to do my lesson! (Which is actually a little exciting every time I see it, it doesn’t feel like a chore)!..Can you.S I’m only using the standard version I have an upgraded either I can only imagine how fantastic is that would be great, but she’s definitely in the near future. thanks heaps drops,I can finally speak a little Spanish/Mexica! 😍😍😍😍🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇪🇸🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺I love everything about this app!!.Version: 35.19

Pretty goodWish it were free tho....Version: 20.5

Beautifully polished experienceI love the design of both the learning experience and the app itself. The app is very intuitive to use. The gamification and aesthetics of the learning experience make me want to use the app as a part of my morning routine every day..Version: 31.67

Improvements to be madeI’ve been doing the tagalog course and I’ve noticed a lot of spelling errors like “umuraw” instead of “umaraw”. I would like it if you added some Slavic languages such as croatian to the app. In addition, please add a mode where it’s possible to create sentences and work on grammar rather than just working on single words throughout the duration of the course. Overall this is a great app which I’ll continue to use, it’s very engaging as opposed to boring and bland; I’ve even convinced my friends to try it because they thought the layout was that pretty! Thank you.Version: 30.2

My favourite language learning tool! This is the most effective language learning tool I’ve found since restarting my language learning last year. Probably because it is so easy and quick to use that I actually use it! It’s easy and enjoyable to pick up when you’re waiting for a bus or the kettle to boil. It’s very active learning so it holds your attention. It’s an attractive and simple interface . And if you do your review dojo, it works! On a recent holiday to France I heard and used words I learnt in the app, it was so rewarding to see my work pay off. I think this is because of the staged repetition and the use of sound at the same time as seeing the words - I was hearing the voice of the reader in my head on holiday! There’s lots of encouraging little comments too , which I find boost your mood. Best of all , there’s no tedious inputting , it’s all there for you already (AnkiApp is great but I never actually get round to putting new stuff in hence nothing new to learn at that bus-stop!) Plus you get to choose what you learn, so you’re motivated to learn and review words you’ll actually need/ want. I thought this app was expensive at first but now I think it’s good value for money..Version: 36.44

Effective, Efficient and EnjoyableThis app is easily the best app when it comes to learning a language. Even though I do not have the premium plan, the 5 mins a day is still enough for me. Graphics and theme are on point and give the “Modern and Fun” kind of vibe. I think I will be able to master Japanese with this app and I also think that everyone should try out this app. Super efficient and it is really satisfying seeing the amount of words you learn over the days increase. 100% recommended this. I just wish that I had access to all lessons even though I don’t have premium..Version: 36.5

Not workingI have been using this app for the longest to help with learning Spanish. It’s been a great tool but as of late I can’t even open the app. Anytime I want to use the app I’d to delete it and download it again. Sometimes my progress isn’t up to date or completely missing and I’ll have to delete it again. I’ve put in multiple tickets but have got no response. I thought with the way things are in the world I’ll put more time in the app but with it not even working for me it’s been a bust. I might try again in a few months to check if it’s been fixed but as of right now it’s just taking up space. Update: So my problem never got fixed but I got a newer phone and don’t have any problems now. So I can know give a better review. I love the app and how quick and easy it is to do a session. It’s great for squeezing in some practice as well as completing a lesson. I love the dojo that reviews random words. It helps me retain info. You can also keep a streak now even if you miss a day, which is a great feature that keeps you coming back..Version: 36.49

Buen comienzoEmpezando a descubrir el griego!.Version: 38.15

Gorgeous app!I’ve just started using this app to practice my French and I already love it! The design is incredible and the way it’s formatted - more of a puzzle game style approach than a traditional ‘type the right answer’ question - is really engaging. I can easily see myself putting in the 5 minutes every day and I’m excited to unlock more content as I go. As a free app, this is amazing value! My only possible complaint would be that it does make you start as a complete beginner and there’s no clear way to skip ahead if you like getting 100% on things, but revising words at first rather than straight away getting new ones is hardly a bad thing! I’m loving this app so far and will hopefully continue to be this motivated and enjoy improving my French vocabulary as much as I have done today..Version: 31.59

Just started but ok so far5 minutes for free per day. Gonna learn me some Korean. Like Hi dog bread city book..Version: 38.15

Fave language app since I outgrew Gus on the GoDrops has been my fave language app for nearly two years now. It has a simple and intuitive interface, the games keep it interesting, and the positive reinforcement keeps me motivated. The vocabulary is useful and well-organized, and the wide range of categories and difficulties offers something for everyone. The 15 minute bites are perfect for me, but you can change it if you want to. And the thing runs - I don't have to fiddle with it, reboot it, or sacrifice to the app gods to keep it going. The latest upgrades have added a Favorites category (which lets you create a custom category with words of your choice), and picture upgrades. Still on my wishlist are customizable background colors (for those of us with low vision who need the extra contrast), and a program-wide search function. Currently the Search only covers words that you've already studied (at least in hungarian it does), which limits its usefulness. With this app, plus a tutor, I've learned a notoriously difficult language to the A2 level. One of the few apps I'm willing to pay a subscription for..Version: 36.26

NotificationsOverall, fantastic app. I love the friendly reminders to study, but goodness it is persistent and there are a lot! I would love to see notifications toned down a bit. I had 3 by 10am this morning! I don’t need reminders during business hours when I can’t study at work. I don’t to turn them off though as they are quite useful..Version: 31.56

I’m actually learning Thai 🇹🇭I’ve spent a lot of money on Thai language apps and this is the only one in which I am successfully recalling information. Many other apps are very good text/phrase books but Drops is different; it uses games to reinforce word sounds, spellings and the script in many ways so you are able to recall what they are. I also found it useful to look up Wikipedia for the common ancestor of Thai and Latin scripts (Phoenician) which shows how the symbols used in both English and Thai languages (which look very different) actually come from the same source, sharing a similar meaning or sound, or both. There are some odd/erroneous translations and some nouns that don’t make a whole lot of value in a English speaker learning Thai words context eg blackberries, cookies, chocolate which don’t have a Thai equivalent but I do understand the value in using these borrowed words to learn the Thai script - you only need to one translation instead of two. The developers appear to be actively working on the app and deploying regular updates which is good to see..Version: 31.4

Great app, some peculiaritiesFirst off this is a great app with a wide range of languages available to learn. There are some great features that encourage you to persist with language learning via gamification, such as streak counter, session review, badges and dojo. But there are a few weird ‘features’ which can irritate… First of all the punctuation they add to the words can make it pretty tricky to work out words based on character count. Why add random exclamation marks to some and not all. What makes this ‘sausage!’ more special than that ‘aubergine’. It’s bonkers. Secondly the jumping letter groups when forming words from served clusters. Sometimes certain letters bounce; A strange bit of animation that distracts and certainly doesn’t provide the ‘hint’ I had assumed it was trying to convey. Feels more like a dev bug tbh. Lastly, and most irritatingly, you slog through the same words in a session over and over. I wish you could control the variety of words you are served as currently 10 of the fifteen minutes I spend in app per day go over the same small selection of words repeatedly. I wish you could add in more wild card words from previous sessions to keep them in your memory. Other than that love the app, the Ux, the ui and the functionality. Really happy I went pro and my Icelandic vocab is definitely coming along 👍.Version: 35.93

Brilliant! But…Dear Drops developer team, Drops is the mean app of my vocabulary learning, it’s brilliant. It allows me to skip the words I already know, which really helps intermediate learners. And I like the choose of vocabularies as well, I wasn’t expecting that in a app that includes that many languages is well made, but drops did do a great job! I have a little request, due to the different spellings and the use of different words is it possible to separate British English and American English, because using the uk flat to teach American English is a bit inappropriate in my opinion, I hope the developers team can see this to make a change. For example the word ‘period’, British people won’t even understand it also means ‘full stop’. So to prevent misunderstanding and confusions for beginner learners, make a change! I believe it’s not that hard to do, but this will make language learns and reviewers rate this app a 5 star..Version: 36.32

Great for Professional DevelopmentThis app has been amazing!! As I am an early childhood education teacher in New Zealand, it is my responsibility to improve my proficiency in te reo Māori. I downloaded this app as I knew that I needed to improve, but doing it by myself in other ways was hard. This app has been supportive by teaching me new words and phrases that I can use in my daily teaching practice with NZ’s young children. I use the daily reminders function to ensure that I am consistently developing my proficiency in the language and it means that I do not have to scramble for time to make improvements. I highly recommend this app!.Version: 35.97

Perfect for beginning your language learning! This is not a comprehensive guide to make you fluent in a language. However, Drops is very instrumental to building a solid foundation for almost 40 languages, not including their attention to major dialectal differences by offering separate courses for Cantonese and Mandarin Chinese, British and American English, Brazilian and European Portuguese, and Castilian and Mexican Spanish. Vocabulary is very important when learning a language, and Drops gives you thousands of words in an easily digestible fashion. Of course it's not the only way to learn a language, since grammar is also important, but what's the point of focusing on the grammar if you don't even know what words you're putting in the right order? My favorite part about Drops is that they're dedicated to expanding their catalog of languages whenever possible. It's very cool to see an app this prominent teach languages that others like Duolingo will take forever to get, like Persian, Igbo, Serbian, Thai, and Samoan. The lack of grammar holds it back from being a 5 star rating, but as i said, what it does teach is still extremely helpful. The words they teach are very applicable to casual tourism in a region, and for those on the path to fluency, it also covers a solid baseline of words you'd hear in everyday speech. The way they drill them with fun and simple games also goes a long way to improving memorization skills.Version: 35.74

Awesome! 🇰🇷I am currently learning Korean and this app has been very useful. I recommend getting this app if you want to learn a new language. I know most of the basic’s and this app is the reason why. Overall, this is a great app! 👍.Version: 35.81

DropLove the different ways of learning the words. It would be good if went you have to put the letters in order they were split into their syllables as Māori has a natural way of being sounded out and often the way the words were split didn’t make a lot of sense..Version: 35.91

Like itIts a good app even without purchasing premium. The layout is nice and efficient, and he ability to choose what you would like to learn specifically within a subject is an added bonus. I do however feel that 5 minutes every 10 hours is too short for the initial learning phase, and that a possible improvement would be to make some beginner modules, such as hangul for korean, without time restrictions. Allowing people to learn the basics would also help people decide wether they wish to continue learning that specific language or not. I would say that this app is better than alternatives, like duolingo for asian languages, but due to the time restriction i didn’t get to try any european languages..Version: 29.14

Language student of many yearsUsing the beginning level to sweep up vocabulary I have missed - and find I can get a better pronunciation drill than I’ve had in years! Instant pronunciation of words in real voice; effortless learning. Yet to see the upper level, but looking forward to it! Amazing!.Version: 28.2

Best language appSo far I am loving drops and genuinely look forward to my sessions every day. It has made learning another language really fun and me and my friends are learning together so we can travel..Version: 35.93

I LOVE IT!Its not bad because it teaches you one word at a time AND I LOVE IT!!!!!!.Version: 38.13

Makes you actually *want* to study!!This app is the greatest thing to happen to language learning ever. Seriously. I’ve been studying one language or another my entire life and have never looked forward to vocab drills before. I actually get excited about getting to do my Drops review every evening. It’s fantastic. Right now I’m using it to tackle Mandarin Chinese and it’s incredibly helpful for learning the characters. The sounds are paired with the characters (or words) so you have a “See & Say” learning experience, which is the best way to learn. The system is smart and shuffles back to the ones you flubbed on recently so you can practice them more. It also has an immediate reinforcement after you make a mistake so that the correct answer is cemented in your brain. Many of the other apps don’t do that, leaving you to wonder “then what WAS the right answer!?” This app reinforces the correct answer immediately. Clearly the developers know a thing or two about the language learning curve. One thing to remember - learning any language is hard. You’ll have places where you struggle. That’s where an app like this can help so much. Even if you feel like you’re just repeating the same cards over and over (and making errors), you ARE learning. Stick with it and don’t give up! But honestly, download this app already. You’re here because you’re serious about learning that new language, and this is the way to do it!.Version: 36.49

Perfect Vocab App!I took Japanese in college and was always so terrible with vocab. I have forgotten so much and I’ve been wanting to get back into it, so I tried this app, and I feel like I know more vocab now than I did when I was taking classes! Drops makes it simple and fun to learn, and is perfect in conjunction with Duolingo or teaching yourself the grammar. I do have one issue with how Japanese words are ‘broken up’ when you have to spell them using the bubbles; I’m sure all words in all languages are broken up in the same way, but at least for Japanese it feels really off putting because it goes against the way the Japanese alphabet is organized and how you should be pronouncing things properly. I think it would be easier and less confusing if you customized the way certain languages get broken up to follow the correct structure (Japanese is usually sets of two letters or just a vowel/n so if you broke up ‘konpyuutaa’ as ‘konp’ ‘yuut’ ‘aa’ it just feels wrong, and should be something like ‘kon’ ‘pyuu’ ‘taa’ etc etc). I haven’t purchased yet but I’m thinking about it, my only reservation is that the five minute chunks and having to wait basically a full day to come back to it makes me more disciplined! If I had endless time I’m afraid I wouldn’t be as diligent. We’ll see, but in the mean time, thank you for this amazing app!.Version: 30.38

No keyboard required = great for a quick lesson on the bus or trainI hate typing on my phone so I am very pleased I found this app- no typing needed and yet it has a good method of using spaced repetition to help me learn the vocabulary. I can use apps that require typing on my laptop at home and use this app on my phone..Version: 28.11

Finally a fun and effective method.Don’t get me wrong, we all learn in many and varied ways. However, I’ve spent a while with many languages and attempts with ‘so called’ effective strategies. With award winning and most recommended. None have worked. However, I can via drops by accident. It didn’t even come up in my search for learning languages and I found it by happenstance. I’m glad I did. It’s been so much more helpful in retention. I don’t really care what words I’m learning and in order. There are many ways time and tested to learn language and all the platforms and apps tend to have a good evidence based approach to language acquisition. However, retention is the trick and I found that drops is by far the most effective for me in retaining the words I learn..Version: 36.1

Really good but limits learningDrops is a very fun way to learn languages it has helped me remember what words mean it is also very entertaining. The only thing I find annoying is that your limited to 5 minutes a day unless you pay for premium. Other then that a great app..Version: 38.11

Good, but could be slightly betterAm mainly using this app right now to better my German, but will eventually want to use this to begin learning Japanese. There’s not so much grammar available in here, which is needed for a language like German (which has super strange grammar). Otherwise, its an easy to use and good-looking app!.Version: 28.0

Drops - Learning GermanThis app is very helpful, it also keeps me on track with my learning. Everyday I do a quick 10 minutes and it has helped a lot !! I love learning German on drops. But one thing is, it adds a new word every 3 minutes or so, and also bases words with pictures and symbols - which sometimes makes it hard to remember the words and also is a little weird with the pictures because obviously I’m not going to be able to do hat when speaking German irl. So overall it’s an amazing app I just don’t like how quick it loads on the words, definitely recommend if you are quickly trying to learn a language tho..Version: 38.17

RomanizationsThe app is great! I love the notion of just doing a session for a few minutes a day in order to build a habit. Since consistency is key, I like how this app goes about accomplishing this. There are also many topics for you to learn vocabulary for, ranging from the basics to pop culture. However, I understand that for beginners it’s easier and more preferable to use romanizations along with Hangul as “training wheels”, but I kinda wish they could be deactivated for those who prefer relying on only Hangul. This is especially true for the exercise where you have to spell out the word, but I don’t like that you only have the romanizations to do so with. It splits up the romanizations into the syllables of the Hangul syllables in an awkward way. As someone who can honestly read Hangul better than romanizations (trust me Hangul is easy to learn and better than romanizations) I find this to be confusing at times even though I know the word I’m having to spell out. It’s just a suggestion though. I think I can get by with how it is now, but I just wish that was also an option. Other than that, I love it!.Version: 36.2

The bestLove this app the most! It's fun and effective and beats Duolingo by a mile.Version: 38.13

Great app!First proper app I’ve seen that actually goes through te reo and they’ve done an amazing job with putting it together and making sure pronunciation and spelling and grammar are all good. Makes it super easy to learn..Version: 36.53

This App is AmazingThis App is one of my favorite all time apps to Learn languages. I Have Already Download 3 Apps Which are French App , Russian App and The Drops. I Feel Like this Should Be The Number 1st App. Your Company is Amazing and I love how there so much Topics To learn! The only Thing I Dislike is That We only have 5 Mins To learn Something From a Topic. What I mean is I hope you update all of the Apps that you have in your company Made and Let us and New players Choose how much time they want to spent on Learning the language. For Example You update the Apps to 5 minutes to 20 minutes . It will be really appreciating if you and your company Updates that. I Really Hope you guys do it but Please I do not force you do it. It is just a suggestion. Another thing is about this App is Amazing is that for me it’s not boring at ALL, It’s Really entertaining And All of the Apps I have Downloaded is it Amazing and entertaining. I Hope in the Future Almost the Whole World Will Download this App and Use it For Good To Learn New Languages To Have a Conversation With Other New people they Never Met and might become Become Friends with The Other People!.Version: 35.53

Better than duolingoLoooove this app. You’ll love it if you’re a strong visual and phonetic learner, like me. The voices are lovely and clear to listen to and the illustrations are very helpful with helping you memorise vocabulary. I’ve been doing this daily just for fun, it feels like a game lol great app 😍.Version: 34.42

Excellent vocabulary builder!I love the app, it’s what I’d been searching for for a while, a brilliant vocabulary builder with an amazing interface broken down into topics at which you have free reign to choose from. What I especially love is that words learnt are catalogued so it becomes a dictionary built of the words you know and neatly organised into the categories from which you learnt them. The search feature is also especially useful! My only issue with the app is verbs, specifically the Spanish section as that is the one I’m using as I’ve been using. Whilst I know the app isn’t designed to particularly teach grammar, there are inconsistencies which could easily confuse new learners. Verbs are presented in the “I” forms, yo bebo, yo como etc, however some verbs are shown without the yo in front which whilst still a correct translation could give the impression that yo isn’t required for all verbs. It also makes it difficult to determine to infinitive of the word, comer, beber etc which is important to know so you know how to conjugate the verb to other forms. Other than this minor issue I’m very impressed with the app and will be subscribing once my free trial is over. Thank you for such a great app I’m really learning a lot from it!.Version: 35.38

Great appBeen learning Japanese with this app for the past month and a bit. Love the way the app teaches you new words by drilling it into your brain and also being able to do categories over and over as many times as you wish. It is subscription based and only having 5mins a day to practice with the free version wasn’t good enough for me so I got the premium package and so far it’s been well worth it, haven’t missed a days practice yet! All in all this app presents very nicely, you can see they’ve put a lot of work into this. For what they’re asking in a yearly subscription I think is pretty fair and something I’ll continue to be subscribed to..Version: 34.7

Good, but limitedI’ve been using duolingo for the past 3-ish years, and this app taught me things duolingo wasn't on the very first day. The “games” that they have you complete definitely feel much simpler, yet way more effective than duolingo as well. Hopefully the owl doesn’t kill me for writing this review, but I actually prefer this app in almost every way. My only complaint about it is that without a subscription you only get 5 minutes a day/every 10 hours(?). 5 minutes a day can be all you need to learn a language, but it’s also such a short amount of time that every lesson feels like a speedrun to get as much done in 5 minutes rather than retaining the information properly. Increasing the non-subscription time limit to something closer to 10 minutes would totally eliminate that, in my opinion. I, as I also assume many who use this app, can’t afford a subscription, so I’m stuck using the free version. It’s great, but I just wish there was a way to make the timer more than 5 minutes! I do understand that you need to make money though, so maybe something like watching a few ads gets you a couple more minutes?.Version: 35.91

Fun, easy to learn, simpleI’ve tried a few different apps in an attempt to learn a different language (Spanish currently) and I’ve never been able to learn properly before downloading Drops. Other apps I’ve tried haven’t been as interactive and ‘fun’! I’ve only been using the app for a few days and I’m already confident with using a big variety of words and phrases! You do have to wait 10 hours in between each 5 minutes ‘session’ unless you pay for a subscription but it’s not that bad for me as I do one in the morning, and by the time I go to bed I get to do another! It would be cool if there were things you could do in the app to speed up time though. But you do get rewards every day you open the app which are pretty useful! Overall I’m so impressed how easily this app has helped me learn, it’s honestly so much fun and it definitely keeps you entertained whilst learning! I’d absolutely recommend this app to anybody wanting to learn a new language, you won’t regret it! -Amy.Version: 30.25

Excellent appWonderful site learning Māori. Simple to use. Can’t recommend it enough for any language. My daughter is simultaneously learning 4 languages to, I repeat unwind!!!! I think she came with the stork!! She moves about the house speaking in French, German Turkish !! and Māori. I am plodding along nicely with 5 mins either end of my day and my vocabulary knowledge has sky rocketed. Have fun Bee 💛.Version: 36.43

Love it!It tells you the words after and after I love this app I can learn my favourite language in 2 months for sure!.Version: 38.13

Nice, but dearNice app, basically forcing you to repeat-repeat-repeat in a fun way, hammering words into your head. Seems to support Japanese and other non-Latin languages pretty well, which is fairly rare among this type of apps. There are two issues: 1) you will need something else to learn actual syntax and phrase-building, this is just words & sounds; and 2) it’s not cheap: you either go free, which limits your sessions to 5+5 minutes per day, or pay for a subscription that looks fairly expensive, even at the discounted rate that you will likely get offered at various points. If you are a total newb, it ends up being much cheaper to buy a good book/cd that will also have syntax and complicated phrases, and stay on the free plan just to refresh your words every now and then..Version: 28.2

Long time user - love itI’ve been using drops for well over a year now and I love it. I’m mainly using it to learn Arabic as it’s the only app I’ve found to have a good way for someone who doesn’t read Arabic to learn Arabic (The romanised aid function is just fantastic) I love the way the app allows you to pick words or phrases of interest and ignore ones you don’t want, the feedback options are great in the event of a mistake in a translation or an improvement and the constant adding of new vocab is fantastic. I used it for many months on the free version but I wanted to study a lot so I switched to the annual premium plan and my renewal is now up and it’s set to autorenew in a few days and I’m happy to continue to pay! Great app, thanks Drops team!.Version: 35.83

Love the app, but...I really love the app, create way to keep me engaged. The new “talk and travel” section is great! However, I am learning Japanese and I don’t think the whole alphabet is in the the alphabet section, sounds like j and p and b are missing, or they aren’t coming up for me... but other language apps like duolingo cover those sounds. Also when you get something wrong, the correct answer is really quick to disappear, and I am slow, so I would really love the ability to click away the correct answer myself so that I see where I went wrong. Right now I get about a second before it disappears..Version: 31.59

Learning done rightI have used many apps and resources to learn Korean. None have been as beneficial as drops. The techniques used help develop your recall ability which makes learning in your adult years easier. If you are serious about learning a language and want to invest in a fun and effective app, you have come to the right place!.Version: 36.60

Amazing! This app has been really great in helping me further my knowledge of the Chinese language. I have only been using it for about a week but have already learnt and successfully remember more then I have in my first year of doing classes on it. I would completely recommend this to anyone wanting to learn and believe that this may be the future of not only language learning but other studies too. I think that this app is amazing as it is but a way to expand this further would be to also have this as a resource for outside learning. You can enter the words you need to know for say an upcoming test and using the same methods it could help you learn those words that you need to know to pass..Version: 30.46

GoodI’ve been learning with drops for two weeks now and I’ve really enjoyed learning with it. I am currently learning Serbian and it has definitely taught me lots. So here are some pros and cons if you are looking to download the drops app. Pros: - no ads so you don’t get distracted from your language - entertaining and not boring like some other language learning apps - teaches a range of languages that many different language apps don’t offer - easy to use and don’t have to sign in twice just to have a profile - doesn’t have lives so you aren’t under pressure to get things right - you don’t have to pay for no ads, more gems or more lives Cons: - only able to have one session per day unless you pay a subscription (but the sessions are around 5 minutes long with very short questions) - doesn’t really teaches you phrases and grammar at the start - if you’re on a train or in public there isn’t a ‘can’t listen now’ feature where you don’t get questions where you need volume Thank you for reading hope you find this helpful..Version: 36.62

Useful, Enjoyable and RecommendedI’m currently using Drops to learn Icelandic. Although Icelandic has some grammar changes that occur for male and female (which don’t show up in this app) it is nonetheless a good way to start learning. I tried learning the language from a language book at first and just could not get the pronunciation correct. Drops has helped me so much in the space of a week in simply being able to read a word and pronounce it correctly (most of the time). I love languages and intend the use the app for Japanese and German, although as Icelandic is the only language I have tried so far I can only review it on that basis. But it is proving worth the subscription price I have paid so far. As someone who would love to be able to speak my own native tongue, I’d love there to be a Welsh language option..Version: 34.74

Feels almost like a video gameThis is the best language app I’ve tried thus far! It only focuses on vocab so you don’t get bogged down by correct grammar rules, which is great. It has progress for topics, badges for overall progress, and short session times with a streaks calendar, it’s awesome! It keeps me motivated because it feels like a video game with all the accomplishments available. Would definitely recommend! My one suggestion for improvement for future would be that maybe there could be a mode where when starting a topic for the first time, a user is not introduced to the words immediately, only use them in exercises, then the app determines which words the user needs to practice and which ones they know from previous experience. That would mean people who already know some of a language could cross off topics quicker by only practicing the vocab they don’t know and making sure they have retained older vocab from previous experiences. Just a thought! Really love this app and really thankful it has more niche European languages too! Thanks dev team!.Version: 36.20

Great app with wide range of languagesDrops is the only language learning app I could find for te reo Maori. The app is great - good format, great images, accurate pronunciation and a useful range of categories for vocabulary. It would be great to have the ability to test user pronunciation but the app is fun all the same..Version: 35.86

Good! This app is AMAZING for learning languages. I’d your trying to use books to learn a language use drops! It’s so fun and easy to use! And it even encourages you to keep going! It gives you a little quiz when you join about the language you pick, and how long you want your lessons to be. You can choose from 5-15 minutes a day! I 100% recommend!.Version: 36.46

Constant Crashes Since April Still Ongoing in JuneI really liked this app until recently. The app crashes when I try to open it every other day but finally my luck ran out and now I believe it’s been 3 days that it has crashed without me being able to do a lesson so I lost my 300+ day streak. I contacted tech support twice and never heard back either time. The app has been updated and I haven’t seen any improvements. This has been going on for at least a month if not longer. Really makes me regret paying for lifetime since the app clearly won’t be lasting that long. Got a response from the developer asking me to fill out the form I’ve already filled out twice. I filled it out again but don’t have high hopes of getting a response. Update: Turns out the emails from their support team were blocked hard by my spam filter to the point they didn’t show up in my spam folder and were quarantined, so they did reach out. HOWEVER, the response was just that they’d be updating the app to fix the problem. It was over a month before it finally worked again. Then after a week or two, the same crashing issue is happening all over again. Don’t pay for lifetime. It’s not worth it..Version: 36.66

Great app, but needs more accuracyI’ve been learning Italian with drops for a while now, and it is a good app. Only thing that I wish to change is to make the words more accurate and specific-it says that il suo means his, hers, AND it’s. Another thing that I would like to change is the fact that this app only teaches you words, as opposed to teaching words and sentences. Stringing together words is a good skill, but knowing the right way to actually say a sentence correctly is a better one. I would also appreciate if you made the categories better-for example in shapes, I learned about 10 when there are like a 1,000 and when I’m absorbing the new intel, I see the correct way to say something that isn’t related in any way to the topic I am learning. Another thing that I feel would be a good thing to make optional but still in the app, is the option to practice 1 WORD over and over again with the option to quit and move on. I feel that this will be a good way to improve memory and to make sure that you never forget a certain word. And also, i don't think that its reasonable to make the collection inly for premium users. We should be allowed to see the words and hear them even if we aren’t premium users..Version: 34.55

정말 행복!안녕하세요! I have been using this app to learn Korean for over a year now, and this app makes learning a language so comprehensible. You don’t even realize how easily you are learning the words, and the methods are fun and simple to follow. I have really picked up on the language thanks to quite a bit of help from this app. Some things I would suggest though, is for those who are really trying to learn to speak the language, there is only really vocabulary words and how to word certain verbs on here, and I would like to see maybe some teachings on how to conjugate verbs and sentence structure. I had to do a lot of alternative research to really learn to speak the language correctly. I don’t know if there is something for that in the intermediate section because I’m only halfway done with beginner, but I definitely think it would help. I would also really like to see some sections that cover slang words and honorifics, because I think the latter is very important to learn if you plan to travel and use the language in the country or with actual Korean people. Otherwise, it’s very fun to use and I always look forward to doing my lesson at the end of my day. 정말 행복.... Very happy! 감사합니다!.Version: 34.42

Just fun!I started today and like that the translation is not the priority but it is there! We could chose what language we should learn the language, not English from the beginning. Good so far..Version: 38.12

1st Review...... As I have only been using this app for a matter of minutes, so far, I can say that everything seems very exciting and fast-paced from the off! Several words, all from a shared topic, have been introduced to me along with pictures, a clear pronounciation & simple instructions for each segment of the allotted (free trial) 5 minutes. These have included a chance to spell the words out myself, from a set of syllables on the screen that I can drag and drop onto the dotted line. Something which, on this most recent occasion, left one last group of letters/a syllable on the screen, so that this isn't as straight forward as just dragging and dropping everything - there is still a level of discerning, albeit at a very basic level, which I find is likely to help me recall certain words better than just the standard, "écoutez et répétez" teaching system that I had as part of my (French) curriculum at school! I'll try and review this again in a couple of weeks so that I can really see if I've been able to learn anything useful in that time. A word to the Developers: spelling words out in full whilst also being able to put them into a little context, really helps with rich learning. Is this something that you'd only consider for your paying users? If at all? Also, perhaps knowing if an item or word is male or female, this might actually help your users when they come to learn these languages in full. Just an idea though....Version: 27.15

Highly recommend for vocab (from a Korean language learner)Context for this review: I’m currently studying for TOPIK (the Korean proficiency exam) and had studied Korean for a year prior to downloading this app. I was looking for an app to help me build/reinforce vocabulary. My review is based on the Lifetime Premium version of this app. I used the free version for a day and loved the app so much that I actually spent money to upgrade (I never do this for apps). If you’re looking for a vocabulary building/reinforcement app, I highly recommend Drops. I love it for two reasons: (1) I can turn off the romanization so I learn to associate the vocabulary with a picture rather than a direct translation and (2) it dynamically mixes in the vocabulary to reinforce what I’ve studied so far i.e. if I’m on the Clothes topic, it’ll mix in vocabulary from other topics even though I’m focusing on Clothes. The mixture helps me continually review all of my vocabulary. I’ll acknowledge that I don’t know if this app is good for learning Hangul since I knew it prior to downloading the app. With that said, if you can read Hangul, I highly recommend Drops for Korean vocabulary building..Version: 35.82

Ingenious app!The learning style is fun, inventive and effective. By encouraging use of pictorials coupled with sound and text means that regardless of the way in which you learn best, you are reinforced in every medium. The bite-sized daily reminders are also a great way to encourage daily practice. I also think this is a fantastic value — for only a lifetime price of US$169, my whole family is learning on the app, and my kids decided to pick up some fun basic words in multiple languages they never had prior interest in. The platform makes it really attractive and not daunting at all to just try to pick up a few words. Suggestions — the basic words that are taught for each language appear the same — ie., ‘bread’ is one of the first things you learn, and so is salad and lemon. However, this may not be the staple food for some countries. Perhaps learning ‘rice’ first for some languages or ‘noodles’ makes more sense. Secondly, I am only a tourist in my first language I am learning here, but I think it would be a good idea to already introduce some basic sentences by now so I can learn grammar. Maybe this is coming but I haven’t gotten there yet. I also think watching a real conversation in a quick video clip might be helpful for more advanced learners - followed by the terms broken down the way it is done in the app already..Version: 34.71

DropsI love how it teaches me! I have learnt so much Irish from it to impress my teachers and school.Version: 38.13

Love it, just one improvement to makeThis app makes it so easy to learn any language with pictures and different teaching methods. But, I think there should be more that you can get for free. If you don’t pay, you only get 5 minutes every ten hours and only 1 lesson from each subject. I think for free, you should get either unlimited lessons,,or more time..Version: 33.24

PerfectThis is very perfect for basic learning.Version: 38.12

Great app!Great for visual and audio learners? N.Version: 38.15

Amazing! The teaching style of Drops is amazing! Although I do wish the daily limitation wasn’t there or at least is longer than 5 minutes. If one wanted to solely use Drops to learn languages, that 5 minutes surely doesn’t seem enough unless we are forced to pay to do so. Nonetheless I am currently attempting to learn, Mandarin, korean, Japanese and Thai and I can say that I have learned a lot more in 5 minutes than just reading and forcibly memorising by book, or online. This is an amazing program, quite different from the likes of Duolingo, but if you might add a kind of detailed lessons into each part you teaching, like that on The Duolingo web version where each section has a detailed breakdown or summary type of paragraph where it teaches you how to use each thing you learned. Although I haven’t been using this long, nor have I got the chance to explore further into your app to see if you already have this feature since it limits my usage this is an exceptional programme and I hope you can continue the hard work it surely will help me learn a lot of languages in my life!.Version: 28.11

11/10!!! So gooooddd ✨✨✨Love this app, Ive been learning Maori as a student but this has expanded my horizon on things i haven't been able to study yet. Thank you sooo much for this language app!!! So good, would recommend to any learner who is at any level of their study!!.Version: 35.29

Romance with the RomansI never have seen Italia in my life so you can understand why it’s my dream to go and travel the whole boot, top to bottom! I have already been studying Italian for a little while but not on a regular basis so this makes it a bit fun bc as my brain is occupied the subconscious mind is having fun learning! I like it and time flies when you’re done, I mean when you’re having fun! I do hate cliches and I always have to let someone know that I do and why I do but I’m saying now , there’s always an exception to every rule or situation that you might find yourself heading right into , you didn’t catch that one huh? I improved on a classic that time flies…the way I have actually given this one cliche some wisdom from my imagination I improved it and now I have to comment on how easy it is in the beginning but It’s got to get more challenging but I can’t see how. They could speed it up but that’s lame and then I would never play again bc something like that takes absolutely no talent to completely me up with so when you are stuck you keep going till you get it right! It’s that the kind of reviews that you were looking for or what! Hey if not, I just wasted my time writing but I like writing so I find it fascinating and it was a pleasure doing it even if you think I’m never going to get it to write a book like The Godfather or The Prestige!.Version: 35.93

Amazing!I love how easy it is to learn a new language using Drops. With loads of creative and fun games, learning is super easy. It's such a great app and I've learnt so much already. In my school, I am learning German but I was behind on the work. Now that I have this app, i've stayed on top and have even been receiving the best marks in the year level! I owe it all to this app. I am confident that in a few months -using this app- I will be able to hold a decentish day to day conversation in German. I also find it helpful that there are pictures. Everytime that i'm doing lessons, I match the picture to the word and everything clicks into place. Yet another thing is that if you're unable to pay -like me- and you're waiting for your next lesson, you have the vocabulary review list to check on. This makes the app so much more user friendly, and much better. Thank you.Version: 34.35

Great app!Even though I have only been using Drops for 2 days I feel it has taught me so much. It is easy to use and unlike a lot of apps doesn’t restrict you by getting rid of lives if you make a mistake. It is great because it is repetitive and if you make a mistake it repeats the word until you get it right while also letting you learn other words too. In my opinion I don’t think that plus is that necessary I have been looking for an app that is still good with the free version and this is definitely the one. Plus just enables the session to end later. I have the free version and when my session ends I can start a new session. It’s not just 5 minutes a day to learn and it encourages you to spend time learning and is very motivating. I genuinely think this is one of the best free language learning apps it also has a very large range of languages to learn from too. Overall I think it is fab..Version: 36.6

Great vocabulary builderI’ve been trying to decide whether to give this 4 or 5 stars. It’s a great app for learning words. The pictures, repetition and different ways of recalling the words are great for learning. But without a way of putting words into sentences it could never be used on its own. This is definitely true of Icelandic which I’m trying to learn where the words all change according to gender and all sorts of other grammatical weirdness. So while I’ve learned the words I’ll have to find all their genders myself and learn the grammar elsewhere. But I accept this app is for vocabulary alone. If not I don’t suppose Icelandic would be on there and there’s few enough resources as there is so I’m going to give it 5 stars for being great at what it has been designed for. I’m just using it as a free app for this reason. I don’t way to buy it for a year and I’m not going to pay £9 a month for an app which won’t teach me how to speak the language. I would pay the £3 it keeps offering me as a surprise!! after every lesson (but only if I buy a years subscription). And I would pay £9 if it was a total language course..Version: 31.67

4.5 No audio in CantoneseI would give this app a 5 star but what is holding it back is the lack of audio on some of the Cantonese words such as hamburger. At first I thought it was something to do with my phone so I tested other words it could pronounce and the sound came out perfectly fine, but when words like hamburger came about it was just silent, nothing. Is there a way to fix this? Please let me know, otherwise please fix this. Overall: Great app, but no sound pronunciation on some Cantonese, which makes it frustrating especially when you have a paid subscription..Version: 34.71

Excellent method to expand vocabulary!Love this app! Super user friendly and easy to navigate to the topics we want. The 5-minute session using images is really useful and I can memorize more words with ease! Def recommend!.Version: 38.13

Awesome - download it now! This app has been amazing. I was recommended it by a friend and downloaded it. From the beginning it has been so easy to understand and the repetition is really good for learning words. Unlike some apps I’m actually learning useful things to communicate and I have learnt far more from using Drops than other apps I have used. My husband is dyslexic and having the visual prompt is really helping him to make associations and he can actually remember words and is making quick progress. I’m moving country in a few months and was daunted by having to learn a new language. Having not done languages since school (13 years ago) I was worried about how I would cope. This app has given me so much confidence already and I actually really look forward to my daily lesson!.Version: 34.73

Best language appA wide variety of languages to choose from with a very easy to navigate interface. A great mix of visual and audible hints to get you used to the pronunciation of words. The way in which the app has an ease to that makes you want to learn more as you go. You can access all the words you have learnt and are learning to prompt you when needed. I’m learning Arabic, which in the ‘real world’ I would have no idea where to go or how to go about learning such a unique language; however the app makes it seem easy and sort of natural to progress on and be rewarded. You only get 5 minutes a day with the basic app but daily that is ample time to get you slowly immersed. Just holding out to buy the lifetime plan so I can explore the other 50+ languages..Version: 35.38

Great AppI’ve been using this app for well over a year as a premium member and it’s great! There are however a few suggestions, firstly I don’t like how some of the words used are very similar to the English equivalent like, muffin or milkshake (examples). I know this is something small but I’d rather learn a new word in the language you’re learning then learning an accent change. It would also be nice to see a feature that helps you but these words in to context to help you get a better understanding how to use the words you’re learning. That being said I’m trying to learn Polish so maybe the things mentioned above only applies to Polish but, it’d be nice to see a few updates along those lines. Overall great app, great price and 100% works I’ve learnt so much using this app and have actually used it while travelling to Poland!.Version: 34.30

Quiz featureI’m a big supporter of this app and it has helped me drastically. I even really appreciate the new quiz feature and was going to ask if they would create some form of feature like that but they were already ahead of me! My only issue with the quiz feature is something I’ll answer correctly and it will say that I’m wrong. Today, one of the quiz questions asked me to select all of the colors. I selected 보라색, 은색, and 갈색. It then told me I could only pick two which I thought was strange but I chose 보라색 and 갈색 because one could argue that silver is not a color but a shade. When it showed me the correct answer, it claimed that purple was not a color so I got the question only half correct. Another time, it asked me the same question with different colors but including purple. Once again, purple was not considered a color. It is the same with other languages too. I am currently learning Chinese (mandarin) as well and the question was asking for me to select all of the animals (2) but dog, cat, and fish were all options. Is there a way that Drop could become a little more accurate with its quizzes? Again, love this feature, it’s just a little inaccurate..Version: 36.64

I am encouragedI applaud you for such a great platform for learning languages. I am usually not very consistent but your app has kept me interested in going back almost everyday. Still, I wished there was a possibility to get engaged with talking. I am not confident if my pronunciation is correct or if I can remember words or phrases without seeing the pictures. So please add that if possible. Nevertheless, great work and good luck with improving it even more. Now, I have been using this app for several months. I am still greatly satisfied and happy with it and think that it’s worth every cents that I pay. However, it can be improved even more. For example, I would be interested to know when my expertise level goes up from beginner to intermediate or how I am doing compared to all the other learners of the same language. I also remember some features that were there when I started but I don’t find them any more. For instance, I could see how many sections I finished with 100% accuracy or there were a lot more achievements that have disappeared now. I believe they were a great encouragement for keeping me up to go back for more learning. It seems no matter how old we are, we are still like kids when it comes to learning!.Version: 36.55

Almost everything I could ask forWhat is the title says I think this app is amazing. Whether some people believe or not that this is optimal learning the spaced repetition system has worked great for me in the past I find that one exposed to my target languages, I am able to recognise vocabulary and understand its meaning but this is all this app is just vocabulary. so I really recommend if you want to learn, sentence, structures and other common rules that you buy a textbook or take tutoring. about the languages they have to offer I feel it’s a double edge sword they offer some great Language is the other playful like Duolingo just don’t offer specifically I’m talking about Thai but there are other languages I would like to see on there specifically for me, the khazak language is a big one, but it surprised me to see Irish be added, and things such as that. So lastly, I will talk about the things I don’t like tying back to my last point I wish the languages they added one more frequent. I understand it’s a process but they are very quick with adding new topics so maybe new languages on the horizon quicker? And lastly, this app crashes a lot, and when it crashes really is the only way of fixing it is to reinstall it and then next time you launch it will crash again and when I asked them about it, but you told me to change my spoken language from British English or American English and this works for a little moment and has now stopped again so please fix this..Version: 36.68

One lesson per 10 hours.Absolutely amazing app. The interface, the smoothness; all top notch. My only problem is the fact that you can’t learn much if you don’t pay. You only get one lesson for every 10 hours and if you want to have more you must buy a ‘premium.’.Version: 36.35

Fun way to learnUnlike most language learning apps this one is pretty practical. You learn phrases and words on specific topics that you’re interested in. Same people behind Kahoot so all the activities and lessons are fun and game based so it almost doesn’t feel like learning.Version: 38.13

Easy to figure out how to use the appAnd also provides very clear text and graphics. It doesn’t promise to teach you everything but only vocabulary, which it does with a minimum of pain..Version: 38.12

Using it in classI use this in class with my 9 and 10 year olds. We do it together on the TV and they are super engaged. I am too. The interface is slick and enjoyable to use. Best Te Reo Maori learning app I’ve found. Well done..Version: 36.56

Vocabulary building is a mustAcquiring words is a process for whatever language you speak. This makes the process rapid and fun. It raises the likelihood and ease of daily practice which is a critical component to successfully acquiring a new language. It reduces the “translation” effect by associating words directly to images. Use this in combination with your other learning input activities; listening to content in your target language, studying from texts, watching tv, etc and you will tap the comprehensive power that allowed you to learn your very first language. But way faster. Two critiques: the app has a nice number of languages on offer here, like Ainu and Maori. There is zero representation of native languages from the African continent such as Swahili or Yoruba, etc. There is a nice number of topics to start learning from. (Note: I’m not sure how common some vocabulary on offer in those topics would be in native conversations? Hard to know at this point.) I hope there are plans to expand topics and vocabulary. For instance I don’t see much at all on art, literature, etc. Maybe they're buried in other topics. But less of a critique, more of an opportunity..Version: 35.3

GoodReally good but voice is kinda annoying at first.Version: 38.13

Amonst exactly what I was seeking! To recover lost vocabulary in Japanese, I wanted something like this: brief and engaging daily games offering new words interspersed with review, organized by level and topic. Minor complaints: the Romaji included errors -- at least one badly incorrect transliteration ("ferry") plus many letter-combinations, in the spelling game, that "break" Japanese syllables inappropriately. (Luckily my kana recognition is decent so I turned romaji off and I see no errors in the kana.) It seems the app uses the same framework for many languages. The odd result, for Japanese, is a tedious ratio of "garaigo" English vocabulary (English through a Japanese phonetic filter). It would be great to have an option to toggle these words off. And there are a few concepts forced into a word-for-word translation here ("or" for example) when in fact Japanese uses a different grammatical structure to accomplish what an English word or phrase does. And there's nothing in this app to help explain that "hai" does NOT quite mean "yes" but something more noncommital, etc. So I would be wary of recommending this app as a first exposure. Someone brushing up on rusty skills, though, can shrug and move on without being misled. Last, the reinforcement icon at the end of each mini-challenge lingers just a moment too long for me, preventing a real game-like flow. Others may like the pacing. A timing slider in settings would be a simple fix..Version: 24.5

DropsI love this app even though I just started I’m young and I want to learn Korean so I can move to Korea when I get older. This app is really helping me but I wish they would focus on one word for a little longer. In my first session I learned 5 words which doesn’t seem like a lot but you have to memorize the word, what it is in English, how it’s pronounced, and how to write it in Korean and that’s hard with school and my extracurricular activities I want to keep learning but I don’t know if I will have the time. The best way I memorize stuff is writing them down repeatedly or saying them in my head and I rather not spend all my time doing that. Some of the words are long in Korean too and I have to write them down over and over again to memorize it. Also for people who have jobs and don’t have a lot of time on their hands I sympathize for them too. When they have time to go on the app they get all these different words thrown at them and it’s hard to get all that down without forgetting. So in conclusion I wish that Drops would slow down the process of learning because everyone learns at a different speed. Thank you for reading!.Version: 35.40

Thai needs improvementsI’m using Drops to supplement my Thai studies and there are a few errors and things that could be improved (feminine word for “I” used with a male picture, alphabet characters not fitting in the space provided and therefore being but off and difficult to recognise similar characters, vowel names are a mess etc). I wish the developer would provide a way of giving feedback directly to them so I can pass these issues on to them. Apart from that I am enjoying it and the variety of ways used to reinforce vocabulary is interesting and fun..Version: 36.10

YupHuh why did you tell him what he did to him for a long day or so he said that he’s a really nice person but I guess I just got a little something for you to come home to get a good friend to you so he could be there and I will let him do something like I don’t mean I mean he was like a really good friend and I told him I was like a really good friend like that yeah..Version: 22.3

Great companion app for learning vocabularyI’m learning Icelandic, and I found Drops because it was the first language app I found with Icelandic as an option. I’ve been happy with my choice so far. Although it doesn’t help with grammatical structure and word cases (especially relevant since Icelandic is a synthetic language), it has been fantastic to help improve my vocabulary. The only real issue I’ve come across so far is that there’s an option to report errors. I have done so about 10 times over the last 3 months that I’ve been learning, and had no responses, or seen any corrections to the app yet..Version: 36.7

Very handy for on-the-go learningQuite handy for quick on-the-go leading, kind of flash card style. I am actually learning new words and find it useful so far. My reason for 4 stars instead of 5. The Korean pronunciation is written in English letters under the Korean letters. As the app speaks out loud the pronunciation, I don’t want it also written in English how to pronounce it. Because what I’ve found, is I’m memorising the written English pronunciation instead of the Korean letters, when the pictures flash up. Which means I now have to cover the written English pronunciation, which forces me to read the Korean written language and listen to the audio pronunciation, when looking at the pictures. It would be good to have an option in the settings to remove that particular visual aid, but still available as an option for those with accessibility needs/ hearing impaired..Version: 36.1

Should be free...I think it’s a good app for language learning. I use it in conjunction with Duolingo and it gives me practice in words Duolingo doesn’t teach at the same time, and a change in teaching method, which is welcome - I think the best language learning is achieved through multiple methods of learning. However, it asks for £3 to £5 per month to use it in an unlimited way, otherwise you only are allowed to use it for 5 to 6 mins a day - that’s 1 lesson. Also, I feel it can be a bit more basic than Duolingo, going through words a lot more times before it goes on to new words. That’s not a bad thing as more review ensures better memory retention. Better visuals than Duolingo. I’m only happy using this free as there are so many more free ways to learn out there. I have tried a variety of apps for language learning and really, I have come to think the free ones aren’t bad at all and a lot of times, paid apps don’t necessarily deliver more value. It depends so much on the individual’s personal motivation..Version: 30.41

Great accessory to language learning!!!I really enjoy this app! so great for learning and practicing vocab! super nice design and satisfying challenges! definitely use other apps as well to learn languages fully, but this one is fantastic for vocabulary learning! A+++.Version: 36.15

I hope this is an accidental bug!I’ve tested dozens of Apps for language learning and Drops is by far one of my favourite. I haven’t used it in a long time, so I downloaded the free App a few days ago with the intention to pay for it on a monthly subscription for couple of months to prepare for a trip overseas. When I navigated to the Subscription Screen in the App, it showed me the option of a free 7 day trial. I figured I’d go with that just to test it all out again as it’s been a long time since I last used the app, and then make sure that I’m on a monthly plan before the subscription starts. That didn’t quite go as planned. The moment I confined the ‘the free 7 day trial’ I was charged over $100 for a yearly subscription. My best guess is that I must have used the 7 day trial at some point in the past, hence the payment got processed immediately, however, this was all very unclear and misleading. A better approach would be to show a different screen for users who have used the free trial in the past, where they can pick one of the subscription options, rather than being advertised a free 7 day trial which turns into an immediate $100 payment. I asked for a refund from Apple, have my fingers crossed that I’ll receive it, and will then try to subscribe to the monthly plan as initially planned. To summarise, Drops is an awesome App for language learning but unexpected immediate $100 charges instead of advertised free trials are frustrating..Version: 33.13

DropsSomeone complained it’s not great for tourists. I think I’ve had more success with this app than direct learning in a class. That’s because I’m learning Chinese which is about the furtherest language from English there is. I love this program. It’s great even for tourists because it’s hard to function even as a tourist without some basic script. But if u r not a tourist this format is even more excellent. It forces me to learn by combining everything. The script, the sounds, the pinyin and the tones. I’ve made more progress recently than I ever have. I was determined NOT to buy it, but it’s increased my progress so much I think I could pass some of the language tests now. So I’ve ended up buying it. Thank you to its developers..Version: 31.39
