ViewExif for Negative User Reviews

Not impressedThis app continues to charge me $.99 every TWO WEEKS even though I have deleted the app..Version: 3.0

You can’t edit Exif dataMisleading description. You can see exif data but can’t edit..Version: 3.0

Does not work on iPhone XWhen you open the photo to zoom in it just crashed over and over.Version: 2.0

Can’t handle large collectionsBlows up upon launching. Can’t deal with iCloud library.Version: 3.0

Getting left behindThis app has lots of nice data about your photo. But its getting left behind by other apps offering more now. For example, Metapho now lets you browse through photos to compare exposure data side by side, as well as allowing you to edit the metadata, dates, and location. If ViewExif could offer this, they would have a winner..Version: 1.2.0

It’s useless appIt doesn’t give you ISO, Aperture & Sutter speed. It shows only the size of images like height, width etc. it’s absolutely useless..Version: 1.4

Was good...But now it just crashes every time I go to erase the metadata. So frustrating, especially as I paid for this app!.Version: 3.0

GypFails to remove metadata as advertised..Version: 1.3.1

Don’t buy this if you want video file size informationI paid the money. The app downloads and opens but it doesn’t tell me the one thing I wanted it for. The size of a video file. Surely something as basic as this should be included when the app provides such detailed information on photos..Version: 2.0

Disappointed - lackingI wanted something easy and cheap for location. This app appeared to be the solution. It was not as the free version of photo investigator proves the location with no problems or issues. This only provides four basic indicators. A waste of 99 cents. Live and learn..Version: 2.0

CrashesUsed to work. Now just crashes on attempting to open the image..Version: 1.2.0

PointlessI thought this app would tell you useful information about your photos like if it's been used by someone else, the information it gives you is useless and no different from your own photos than one you saved from the internet. I'm guessing the 3 reviews this app received have been done by the maker or the maker of this app paid someone-useful was a word someone used, as if! What would you use this info for? Don't waste your money like I just did.Version: 1.2.0

No sidecar api support for GPS tagged photos by GeoTagrI use GeoTagr to add GPS data to my photos. It stores the GPS info in a sidecar or seperate file next to the photo. Some apps, as an extension in photos, using the newer API’s from apple - can view the photo and the gps info (for example Metapho), but this app doesn’t. Which is a shame, as I liked the position of the map at the top (as shown in the screenshot promoting this app)..Version: 1.4

Good Viewer, Weak EditorIt won’t let you edit the Metadata, just adding a description and a rating..Version: 2.0

Doesn’t delete metadataI wanted to remove inaccurate metadata. When I selected “Save without Metadata” the new copy it made still had some metadata from the image, and also added today’s date as the image date, which was also incorrect. I had hoped that the app would result in a metadata screen that was all blank, not add false data..Version: 3.0

ViewExif has been a great tool for quite some tiUnfortunately the app is not working correctly. The app opens and crashes right away..Version: 3.2

Can I revert to the old version?Great app. Latest update has additional XML format of the EXIF but likely made the app heavier. The Photos app has crashed multiple times since the update a week ago. I had 0 crashes for the past year of using it. How can we revert to the old version?.Version: 1.3.1

Works conveniently mapping geotag dataIt works as advertised. 👍 to qb748's review about the app being broken, it's not. i had the same or similar issue but figured it out. btw, i am no way affiliated with the author but sharing what i found out on my own... under settings, turn location services on, then choose 'camera' and change the setting from 'never' to 'while using the app.' then take a picture. it should be geotagged. go back to this or any other exif app and see if the location data is there. obviously, any photos taken before this settings change - whether location services were on or not - won't have any gps data. it was off at the 'location services' -> 'specific app' to begin with. also, this app in particular does have a way to contact the author. click on the app, then 'about,' then 'contact,' which pops up an email draft with the email address & subject line already filled out..Version: 1.0.0

Cannot edit EXIF dataMisleading description. You can delete EXIF, but not edit it..Version: 2.0

It works but it reduces the picture sizeThe app does what it is supposed to do, but when it exports a picture file, it reduces the size by about 50%, rendering it fairly near useless. Why?.Version: 3.2

2023 - Not worth paying for.For an app with a paywall it doesn’t allow you to batch edit photos or videos. Save your money and look elsewhere for a metadata and EXIF remover..Version: 3.3

Good but could be a lot betterThis app still does only what other apps 5 years ago do, but in the action extension. Has no one figured out how to: 1. Batch process all photos selected? 2. Batch share without metadata, right from the extension without having to save? 3. Efficient save without metadata without taking 10 minutes to duplicate the movies 4. Maintain Live Photo’s when sharing without metadata? For the above reason I think this is a stable way of just sharing a single shot at a time with friends, but it needs to get with the times and do a whole lot more, or Apple should incorporate these features in the future in the next iteration of iOS..Version: 1.4

No goodDoes absolutely nothing it says.Version: 1.2.0

Does not work on my iPhone XS MaxDoes not work on my iPhone XS Max and I cannot contact the seller as they think I do not have an email address set-up in Settings..Version: 1.4

Inflated reviews; NO APP do not buy!!Apr 2017 There is no app included in the download. This app must have been abandoned by its creator. When you download it and open it you are taken to a directory with 5 steps on how to open pictures in your google photos from outdated versions with a option to share on Facebook. That is it. I am requesting a refund through apple, this app should definitely be removed for purchase..Version: 1.2.0

Basic informationApart from basic information, what does it actually do? Yes, it sends the photo to email or uploads, but what else? It claims to offer the option to strip away details, but how? Pretty useless app really!.Version: 1.0.0

Nice design, displays bad infoThis good looking and well-designed app doesn’t work for many images. Apparently can’t handle when other apps modify images. For example, I have a Shortcut that converts images to HEIC. This app thinks they’re jpegs and provides bad info about file name and size. Not sure why it does this, but Photos on Mac or other iOS apps report correct info..Version: 3.1.1

Doesn’t save Live PhotosThis app will strip the exif data, but it only saves as a still photo; no Live Photos..Version: 1.4

L’application ne change pas les nomsYou can’t change the n’aime of thé photo ...😏🤨.Version: 2.0

No longer working or even accessible on latest iPhone softwareDon’t bother to download until this works again with the latest iPhone software. It has disappeared..Version: 2.0

Highly inefficientI purchased it so I could text photos without geotags. I can. And the process is cumbersome and works for only one photo at a time..Version: 1.3.1

Mostly great; but there is a long-standing bug…ViewExif is still unable to extract GPS data if a photo modified on a Mac in spite of metadata still being present. This appears to be because when the Mac Photos app makes changes, e.g. enhance photo, it changes the 'Software' tag to Photos 4, instead of just a numeric version number e.g. '15.4.1'. Since the data is still present, the map still appears in the iPad Photos app, it appears that ViewExif is not expecting and unable to handle a non-numeric Software tag. All the other meta-data is shown, just the GPS data is missing. If, on the iPad Photos app, the photo is edited and saved, removing auto-enhancement and reapplying suffices, it returns the Software tag to a numeric only version number and ViewExif then successfully displays the GPS data. I did report this as a bug several months ago, but I didn't receive any feedback nor has it yet been addressed. Fix this and I wpuld return it to five stars..Version: 3.2

👎🏽Does allow you to edit like it’s suppose to... waste of money.Version: 3.0

The app changes the video date stamp to view date. The app changes the video date stamp to view date. Do not change it..Version: 1.4

Waste of moneyDon’t bother spending your money. All it does is delete the data from your phone. Everywhere else you can still access all metadata..Version: 3.2

Disappointed I can only edit limited range of metadataI possibly should have seen from the screen shots, but I can only edit the rating of the photo and add title or keywords. I wanted to edit camera and other info..Version: 3.0

Total waste of timeWorst app of its kind I've come across..Version: 1.3.1

Don’t get this if you use Computer or iCloud StorageI got this app, only to find that I am unable to add any sort of description to the photos I have downloaded to my iPad. I queried this and was told “Photos in iCloud album and iTunes synced albums are not editable.” It would have been nice to know that before I bought it. Also, making any change eg to add a descriptive note on the computer, doesn’t come across with the EXIF data. Include this information, SkyjosApps. Otherwise you are misleading people..Version: 2.0
