Google Photos: Backup & Edit Pros

Peter’s memoriesI have been using Google photos for a couple of years now. Google Photos allows me to kept track if the thousands of photos I have taken in my overseas and hime travels. I really like that Google Photos automatically shares with my other devices. This gives me the opportunity to view my previous photos in a different context in mediums such as my laptop ace Desk top computers. The automated back up also ensures my iPhone is not overloaded with photos unnecessarily using space on the phone..JJJP56Version: 5.62

Storage Dream (maybe?!)...I’m giving this 4 as I wait for “our newest update” to change it all up again, lol. Just when you get comfy with the “unlimited cloud storage” & you get all your stuff settled where you like it... AND THEN... “Hi, Just letting you know that there’s been a change in policy that takes effect next update so...” Then you’re scrambling to save your memories before digital annihilation occurs (or you’ve purchased additional space) so it gets 4*’s (& I teetered on 3, LoL) because even though it’s a little contradictory at times (offers up quotes of praise for saving people from extra expenses, keeping your device clear of clutter where bugs love to hide{!} & eliminating the need for many (many!) passwords... but then you get the daily “suggestion” to use “auto->XP”! for backup & whatnot which kinda has the opposite impact on your device..., it is a great App for pictures and the sharing of but... I dunno!?! I’m leery that an update won’t clear up room or something like that?! Things change on a regular basis with these Apps & where one’s great for storage it’s lacking in cool editing tools but it’s free so 🤷🏻‍♀️ (right?!?), LoL! I guess for now it’s fine but my review is as subject to change as the App is. Who knows, maybe a taste of one’s own medicine for a bit would put an end to the potential “fluxing of policy” where updates & the future of storage space &/or fun editing stuff) is concerned..KLP/KPGee9Version: 5.22

Why?I seem to get a little #1 on the app icon everyday, as if to say I have a notification! But when I open the app there is no notification, seems google just want you to click on their app once a day for whatever reason??? If you open the app then immediately close it, it won’t hassle you again today, but tomorrow we go through it again. I try my best to support all google products only to find fault, on the 30 or so occasions I’ve had to deal with customer support with both a bug report and a FIX for them, half the time a patch is written that night with an update available the following morning, AWESOME!!! The other half of the time I felt 100% ignored. This 50% success rate of google actually listening to your legitimate complaint makes them the leaders of many industries, as most companies won’t change their product to suit you, they will give you a walk through on how to use their product but if you’re going to complain most companies will ignore you, not at Google! If your complaint sounds legitimate and can be fixed, Google will get straight onto it. This is a FIVE star product that only lets itself down by scamming you into clicking on it once a day by way of a fake notification that doesn’t exist when you get there. The reason for one star is, if you don’t get 5 you get 1, as I don’t read reviews rating 2, 3 or four stars & assume either do many people. That’s all folks ;).AussieRareBreedVersion: 5.20

Holding my photos to ransom! As per a few reviews on here, I innocently downloaded the app not aware that it would sync all my images up to the limit and then demand I pay for extra storage without giving a way to undo the syncing. I don’t want to sign myself up to paying google for a lifetime (when I already pay Apple for iCloud) so I started deleting photos in Google images to clear space, as it was saying I couldn’t receive emails, and soon realised this was replicating in iCloud. For a scary moment, I thought I’d lost years of memories. I managed to work out how to stop this (turning off backup and sync only stopped it for new images - not the ones that had already synced. I had to delete the app, download it again and deny access to photos when it asked), and but I’m still nervous to delete too much from google photos in case the sync is still going to kick into place. So I had to manually pick those I was least worried about to free up enough space to keep me going and keep my email account alive. I’m not sure this is actually legal, as nowhere did I actually agree to Google holding all my images to ransom. How can there not be a “restore” function?? Naturally all the questions to this effect in the Google forums have been “locked” with no answer. What a stressful evening. I now hate Google a lot..Ro-jayVersion: 6.29
