Star Wars™: KOTOR II for Negative User Reviews

It’s okI thought when buying this that I was going to be a strong sith lord and have fun dulling but the stupid part when you on the mining ship is to complex and hard to do I think it’s ok though I’ve watched multiple walkthroughs and I can’t get passed it’s and I want a skip for that cuz it don’t matter..Version: 2.0.1

Good game but no MFi controller supportThe game is good, but that was a known thing going in, and I’m reviewing the port so the quality of the game it’s self doesn’t really come into play. It plays well for the most part, but the touch controls are kinda annoying. Instead of having a dedicated area you can touch to move forward and back, you need to touch and drag. This alone would not be a bad thing, but since you also have to do the same thing to look, and instead of having a virtual “interact” button, you need to touch things to interact, you often interact with things by accident when trying to move and look and your thumbs get in the way of the screen because you have to drag them quite a ways to move and look properly. Also, the lack of full controller support is unacceptable. Why allow Bluetooth controllers but not MFi controllers which are specifically made for mobile gaming? Yes, KOTOR 2 is a gem of a game, but as much as I want to play it again on the go, the touch controls and lack of controller support make it too much of a chore to be worth putting in the actual effort to play it, which is a really big shame..Version: 2.0.1

Major audio related issue.I loved the original KOTOR but never played the 2nd game. Seen it on the App Store for a while now and finally chose to buy it here rather than on my Xbox. Big mistake. I can’t play a game without listening to some sort of podcast or music. But this is the only game I’ve ever gotten on my phone which doesn’t let you play any audio from another app while the game is running. It shuts it off the second you start the app. It makes absolutely no sense to force this upon the user. Can this be changed? I definitely can not play this without that luxury..Version: 2.0.2

No controller support?Wasted opportunity.Version: 2.0.2

No controller supportPlayed KOTOR 1 with my controller, disappointed to see the sequel was released without support for controllers :(.Version: 2.0.1

Dead Stop Glitches GaloreThis release is far too buggy. Dantooine Examples - Vrook glitch keeps him trapped in his cage with no dialog...later the cut mercenary assault scene fades to black, hangs playing music and never launches Khoonda battle. I’m literally stuck and cannot proceed with the game. There are other examples as well but they did not stop the game from progressing. Not sure it’s worth starting over to be honest. This is super frustrating after investing several hours. Any suggestions? I am a big fan of the first KOTOR on the iPad. But This release? Not so much. Gamers, if you are on the fence about spending a fair amount on an iPad game, you might want to hold off for awhile until there are later releases. Assuming anyone wants to fix this..Version: 2.0.1

My favorite RPG of all time!I love this game to death, having played it numerous times throughout the years. I was introduced to it by my father but I was hooked to it before I could even read. That being said, this mobile port was a great Christmas present to myself last year, and being able to play it on mobile has been amazing. However, ps5 controllers do not work on this version, which deeply saddens me as I do not have a micro usb charger for my older DualShock 4 anymore. Once they fix/introduce ps5 controller support, it’ll be 5/5 stars for me!.Version: 2.0.2

GlitchesI have faced a bunch of glitches in this game. But I got past a few of them. Now I’m at the end of the secret tomb after I defeated revan. All the doors are still locked because the cut scene with didn’t trigger. And I tried the fight like 5 times. Same thing. I can’t finish the game..Version: 2.0.2

Needs controller supportI love this game with all my heart, just makes absolutely no sense that KOTOR has controller support and KOTOR II does not.Version: 2.0.2

No more dupe glitchThe duplication glitch is what made this game fun and worth playing and allowed me to create a variety of builds for both me and all of my followers however that has now been patched whether intentionally or not which has made the insane prices of some of the items in the vendors very obvious this play through that I never noticed before. Even if you horde cash like crazy you might be able to buy maybe one or two really good items from them as most of the best items in the game are sold for an absurd amount of credits and even if you get or buy something like the Mandalorian disintegrator you won’t be able to duel wield them unless you get lucky enough to find another because you can’t dupe it anymore or anything else.Version: 2.0.2

Bugs ruined itGreat game, but the game ending bugs mean you can’t really enjoy it. I got stuck in the final act and there is nothing I can do other than start all over again. Considering this is a known bug from the original I would expect it to be fixed before putting this on the App Store and charging money for it. Very poor business practice. Probably won’t be buying any more games on the iPad as this has left a bad taste in my mouth..Version: 2.0.2

Buggy and some Serious inconsistencies.I’m a huge fan of this game which is why I’m writing this review. I love that it has been made available to play through the App Store. However there are some serious fundamental problems with the game that make it a very frustrating experience. For example there’s one puzzle in particular that’s in the tomb of a certain Sith Lord that required the player to solve a math equation. After trying for over an hour to figure this puzzle out I realized that not only did the devs ignore order of operations but when I entered the “correct” sequence of operations it told me I got it wrong each time. It’s such a bad feeling in games when there’s a puzzle that’s really tough, you’ve given it your all, you simply can’t figure it out, and you feel you have no recourse but to move on from the unsolved task. It’s even WORSE when you do figure it out, second guess yourself and look up the answer online only to find out that you were correct in the first place and the only thing between you & your treasure is bad design. 😞.Version: 2.0.2

Great Game with game breaking bugThis is an excellent game. It’s tons of fun with a great story and characters. I haven’t played this in years so when I found out that I could get my hands on it here I was pumped. It’s been great to play it again, but I’ve encountered a game breaking bug that’s ruined the experience. On Dantooine I can’t speak to master Vrooks even after I’ve defeated the mercenaries. This was weird but it got even worse when I did the battle of Khoonda mission. After the cut scene ends I get given a black screen that makes progression impossible. I love this game, but until this bugged story mission gets fixed I can’t recommend it..Version: 2.0.2

Bugs - UnplayableBug - No sound affects. There is music and dialogue but no sound effects for anything else ie blasters, doors opening or anything in-game. Checked all the audio setting it’s definitely a bug. Wouldn’t buy until it’s sorted. Unplayable..Version: 2.0.2

Couldn’t downloadI bought this and it just get failing on install 👎🏼.Version: 2.0.1

Okay. No Sfx.For some reason there is no sound effects. No computer sounds, blasters, damage sounds, explosions. Anything that isn’t a cinematic is just the base game music overpowering everything..Version: 2.0.1

No MFI Controller supportThe game lacks MFI controller support..Version: 2.0.1

JunkRubbish compared to KOTOR Clunky controls and boring.Version: 2.0.2

Mortified!50 hours in to the game and it won’t load Dantooine when you have to go back to meet all the Jedi you’ve found. I’m absolutely gutted!.Version: 2.0.1

Game breaking glitch’sI’m stuck in the Onderon palace as the throne room door didn’t open after completing the prerequisite tasks. Poured 32 hours and am stuck here. I don’t even have an old save to differ to. Please fix!!!.Version: 2.0.2

No sound effects bugGreat frame rate and port besides the fact there is no sound effects beside music. Please sort this bug..Version: 2.0.1

Amazing game, no controller supportGame is incredible but the lack of controller support is really infuriating makes playing it a bit annoying..Version: 2.0.2

Great upgraded game but missing Restored ContentLooks fantastic on iPhone 12, amazingly smooth and optimised for IOS like KOTOR1 But the game on pc/Mac has the restored content mod adding so much to the game. This is the base, buy on a different system if you want to play the full game.Version: 2.0.1

KOTOR 1 was way more user friendlyWas beyond excited for this to release and am left frustrated I have to try and play through the game squinting at my screen. The options menus are ridiculously small for no reason. They have lots of space wasted on each side of the menu. The movement has also changed from Kotor 1 where now it is very slow and not seamless. You used to be able to look with one thumb and run with the other. Now you have to try and manage to do both with one thumb??? I hope these bugs get fixed.Version: 2.0.1

Perfect game however buggy and I cannot continue.I am stuck on Dantooine. The mission where we have to ready the defenders for the attacks against the mercenaries once the cut scene of the attack is over I just get black screen. However I can still press the settings and save buttons through the black screen. This is so frustrating as I now cannot continue playing the game..Version: 2.0.2

GlitchesI love this game and the previous one. I had them for the pc years back and have been eagerly waiting for KOTOR 2 to come out on iPhone. This game however was always notoriously glitchy even on pc and I had hoped it would have been rectified for the iOS, unfortunately after over 30+ hours of game play I am no longer able to continue due to a glitch on Nar shaddaa where I am unable to continue due to a glitch in a cutscene and it not loading a part of the game. Unfortunately all my saves are after this point so I can’t even spend 5 hours getting to where I was it would be a case of spending 30 hours again and starting from scratch, I hope these bugs get fixed and you don’t become disappointed. I would recommend having an independent save for the start of each planet you visit just in case you get a glitch. Hopefully an update will come and it will rectify the issue. Other then that it is an amazing game along with KOTOR 1..Version: 2.0.1

Cannot be played on IPhone.Extremely disappointed to find this is advertised as being an iPhone game. I was so excited to finally have KOTOR 2 available on iOS. The original KOTOR works excellently on iPhone. When trying to play KOTOR 2, however, it’s pretty clear no one actually tested this out in iPhone. Perhaps it is optimised for iPads. None of the interaction buttons are even available. No menu either. It’s a completely HUD-less screen. The screen looks too zoomed in and no reticles come up. If you’ve played KOTOR you know that interactions are ENTIRELY BASED AROUND RETICLES. NO RETICLES MEANS NO KNOWING WHERE AN INTERACTION WITH THE ENVIRONMENT IS AVAILABLE. Even worse, when you try to leave the medbay - the FIRST ROOM OF THE FIRST LEVEL - you can’t. No actions come up on screen. No actions means nothing can actually ever be done. You can’t bash the door. You can’t leave. You just spent 22 dollars on a game and you can’t do anything but interact with one console and *shudders* Kreia. This is likely an easy fix but.. yikes.. 22 dollars and you didn’t even check if it can be played?.Version: 2.0.1

Some issuesHave the latest version and notice some of the dialogue scenes get skipped especially with t3m4. I only noticed because I have the original Xbox version. Yesterday I was playing got to Telos Lt. Gran says your ship and all droids weapons will be confiscated during the investigation. T3 immediately beeps in but they skipped his audio and visual and you get a quick flash to Gan saying you’re a droid so yes that includes you too. A few other scenes like that especially talking to T3 but that was the most glaring noticeable as being an opening scene to a new planet. Otherwise the gameplay is pretty good you definitely need a controller for swoop racing and if you want to hit the achievement of not letting a single with trooper in the ebon hawk with touch controls good luck with that if you can do it you’re better than me for sure lol..Version: 2.0.2

No controller support!KOTOR had controller support this does not, would be an instant 5 but this has left a sour taste in my mouth, ADD CONTROLLER SUPPORT!!!.Version: 2.0.2

FrustratedI am a huge fan of KOTOR 1 , so I was very excited to see this game finally get released . It’s a fun game but there have been some glitches that have made the game a little frustrating . Including losing almost 5 hours of gameplay . I am hoping that being a new release that these glitches will be taken care of soon ..Version: 2.0.1

Stuck in black screen bugI’ve tried to contact support to get help, but no one answers. Game was fun for the first few hours but after a cut scene the game is stuck in black and I can’t do anything. Sucks!.Version: 2.0.2

UnplayableThis is a fun rpg game I will admit and enjoy playing it but to the ones who put this game on mobile please fix it, I can’t play through the game half way through because I can’t complete dantooine because the master vrook cave cut scene and battle won’t trigger and on onderon can’t get through the rest of the game because it’s not letting me go through the rest of the mission to go back to onderon the second time so please fix it other wise if you can’t fix it I want a refund because we all paid to play this and it’s upsetting that I can’t play the last half of the game and complete it.Version: 2.0.1

Hostile tracking and no controller supportI find it appalling that a $22 game includes tracking that is so invasive to user privacy. I expect that from free games or the crappy games that rely on gems and that type of in app purchases, but did not expect it on this one. Shameful. Also, in the FAQ on the website they advertise it has controller support, but this is misleading (if not false advertising). It does not work with MFI controlled. You know, the Made For IPhone controllers. Ridiculous..Version: 2.0.2

Aspyr Media is a terrible company!Aspyr is lazy and incapable. None of the work they do amounts to any game that is playable and smooth operating. Aspyr is purely a cash-grab minded group that has plagued our favorite Star Wars classics. I was hesitant to buy these KOTOR games because I was severely disappointed in Aspyr’s port of the incredible Star Wars Jedi Academy games. Especially with the absolute neglect and disregard for the community that plays it’s broken multiplayer portion. Yet I did. I bought the game. I bought BOTH games. And both of them were bugged beyond belief. I’ve encountered bugs where all the sound, except for the voices in cutscenes, would just cut off until I’ve gotten to a new and not previously explored zone. When I got out of combat I could no longer move with whatever character I was using (which for me is almost always my main character). I would have to change the party leader to navigate the world. With these two bugs combined I just don’t even want to play any more. I haven’t even gotten past the first planet on KOTOR II and I haven’t even gotten past Taris on KOTOR. Praying for the day people stop doing business with Aspyr Media; including myself..Version: 2.0.2

Fine, but no controller support? Really? The game works okay. Load times aren’t super long. The big let down is the forced touch screen interaction. Despite that it asks for Bluetooth permissions, so it can stay connected to controllers, the 8Bitdo gamepad I use for other games on my iPad does nothing in KOTOR 2. I also have a keyboard connected by Bluetooth which does nothing. One would think AT LEAST the PC keyboard control scheme would have been retained. I’d increase it to 4 stars if this were fixed..Version: 2.0.1

Amazing game once they squash the bugs!Firstly, like many others I am currently stuck on dantooine. Vrook is stuck and the merc battle goes to black after the cutscene. Also the movement is cumbersome in that you will very frequently engage in unwanted dialogue or actions by barely sweeping over them while just trying to turn your character around. There are a few other bugs as well but I will say load times are VERY fast on iPhone 11. This game is ENORMOUS for an iOS game and it’s only been out a short while so I will wait patiently while they patch these problems. If you’re less patient, maybe save your money..Version: 2.0.1

No controller supportOne of my favourite games from the Xbox era but I hate that I can’t use the backbone with it and I’m not a fan of how you control it with the screen.Version: 2.0.2

Disappointing PortMy favorite game of all time, but there’s no denying that the first game got a MUCH better port to iOS. Very little was done to optimize the interface - it’s essentially just the pc interface with touch controls. This can be very frustrating at times since I constantly found myself double-tapping things accidentally or struggling to get my touch to register on a button. Second, the overall bugginess of NPC pathing really gets exposed with the poor controls. KOTOR2’s combat was always a lot buggier than the original but when you can’t fluidly move you character these pathing bugs get really annoying. Lastly, it’s just not very well optimized from a tech standpoint either. It chews through my battery 10x faster than the original does, and that’s not all that much of an exaggeration. Overall it’s still awesome to have this on my iPad, but sadly this port is just objectively inferior to the PC version in almost every way.Version: 2.0.2

ShameOriginal is a great game but unfortunately since playing on the phone I have now had to abandon the game due to a game breaking glitch on nar shaddaa that does not allow a cut scene to happen nor re enter your ship meaning you are stuck wondering around a dead game. A real shame as it plays well on the phone but it’s just that this glitch ruined my experience..Version: 2.0.1

Hot BatteryCooks battery but fun overall..Version: 2.0.1

Great game but there’s a huge glitchI was obsessed with the first game so when I saw il the second one was released on the AppStore I was overjoyed. Was I thrilled to spend $15 on the game? Not really. Did I get mad when the game had a huge glitch which caused me to not be able to get further into the game? Absolutely. For an app that’s $15 there shouldn’t be such a huge glitch on Nar Shadaa that stops you from playing the game any further. Don’t waste your money until this is fixed. I got about 20 hours into the game only to find out that this glitch is a thing and now I can’t play anymore of it until this glitch is fixed..Version: 2.0.1

Controller Support?I have the SteelSeries Nimbus+ controller which is specifically designed to work with iOS, and yet it doesn’t work with this game! Hopefully an update will solve this..Version: 2.0.1

This game made me waste £13I hate this game the graphics and quality is so bad and the controls are terrible I can’t control anything this is so annoying..Version: 2.0.2

No sound - Unfinished productOtherwise great game. Disappointing..Version: 2.0.1

Controller support? Why doesn’t KOTOR 2 work on the razer Kishi but KOTOR 1 does? Hopefully a patch soon?.Version: 2.0.1

Cant ProgressStuck where Vasquis dies Cutscene that follows crashes my game every time..Version: 2.0.2

Controller support neededPlease put in controller support.Version: 2.0.2

Game keeps freezingAmazing game up until the game continually freezes when returning to dxun at the cutscene where atton walks up to you Playing on iPhone 11.Version: 2.0.1

SoundThe game audio cuts out when I start playing and I have to restart the game to hear the audio again. Can you please fix???.Version: 2.0.1

Why is the game tracking our browsing historyI’m sorry but it’s bad enough when free apps do this, but a premium game like this tracking us as well?.Version: 2.0.2

Only let down is no controller support (Razer Kishi)Please consider adding support for iPhone controllers..Version: 2.0.2

Okay so far but missing sound effectsJust got this and despite turning up sound effects I only get music while in fight scenes. Gameplay not bad so far.Version: 2.0.1

Huge glitchI loved this game when it was out on PS2 and was super excited when it finally came out on iOS. Gameplay for the first little while was excellent until I found a huge glitch that won’t let me progress any farther. The game shuts down every time I try to leave the back half of the Mandalorian camp... very disappointed....Version: 2.0.1

Needs controller supportKOTOR 1 has it - why not the sequel? Please consider adding it 😌.Version: 2.0.2

No soundPlaying on my iPhone 12 Pro but there is no sound. Played with all the sound settings and still nothing.Version: 2.0.1

Almost amazingWhen the game first came out on console, like KOTOR one, it changed the field of gaming in big and great ways. Now that the KOTOR series is mobile they have the potential to do it again. The first has controller support, but this one doesn’t. Both games have some bugs and clunky controls, and KOTOR two’s are worse. I loved these games, and I want to love them again, but that’s hard to do without a controller and so many bugs. Don’t get me wrong, even without the controller the games are still pretty good, the developers knew how to work with touch screens, but they could be so much better..Version: 2.0.2

The bugs ruins it for meFirst: I want to be clear that I absolutely love this game and am so grateful to the people who made it and transferred it, but I’ve run into a serious problem: *spoilers* There is a known bug that sometimes the game isn’t able to load Dantooine after you’ve been to another planet. On the PC version there is a way to overcome by messing with program files, but there is no such solution on the iOS version. I’m not sure how much of a lift it would be, but I’m desperate for someone to fix this bug and let me finish the game! Otherwise I’ll need to replay to whole thing basically lol.Version: 2.0.2

Black screen...I am in the Defense if Koonda mission, turned in the final preparations for the defenses, after I repaired all the droids and repaired all the turrets and engaged them to hostiles only, the screen goes black. If I touch where certain things are, such as the map in the top right or the menu in top left, they open, it shows me on the map in front of the desk clerk inside the estate. I am unable to move or do anything. I’ve sat the game down and just left it for nearly an hour thinking something might happen, but nothing.... I need to know what to do because I REALLY don’t want to restart the game!!.Version: 2.0.1

Great game … howeverThe games story is amazing I’ve always loved KOTOR however can we make it so that controllers work with it? I use a Razer KISHI to game on my phone it works with KOTOR but not KOTOR 2 kind of feel cheated out of my money as I assumed if it works on the first game it should work on the second?.Version: 2.0.2

Please add controller supportAs above.Version: 2.0.2

Great Game - Stable PortOverall quite pleased with this mobile port of the game, very stable and plays great. I however find it disappointing there isn’t mfi controller support especially given the first game is..Version: 2.0.2

Won’t download?Spent £14.99 on this and it does not download at all. I’m running iPhone 12 Pro with latest iOS. Seems to be no way of getting a refund.Version: 2.0.2

Star WarsPlease work on controller support for Star Wars kotor 2.Version: 2.0.2

Great game until...Game was going super until I got to Nar Shadda and the game glitched and killed my party. Managed to get back to the same point 3 times and it was the same point in time that it happened. Save points meant that I couldn’t proceed further and didn’t have any other saves to return to. Game needs glitches fixing!.Version: 2.0.1

No Controller supportI realize the game just dropped today but I have KOTOR installed and it works fine with my Razer kishi controller. Kotor2 no support. I love this game and look forward to playing it again but not like this..Version: 2.0.1

Small screenThe screen is to small it is almost unplayable I suggest making it smaller I spent twenty dollar’s on this game..Version: 2.0.2

GlitchingThe game is very good, however on dantooine my screen goes black and does not even do anything, please rectify this.Version: 2.0.2

Great Game But…… the text sometimes skips in cutscenes for no reason. Apart from that and a few other things (which could just be me), this is a great game. Hope to see more of their work on iOS..Version: 2.0.2

Great potentialFirst off, the sound doesn’t work in the game... this obviously take half the fun out of the game play. This isn’t an issue with my settings. I have checked all configurations and connected to AirPods; still no sound. I also have an issue with controlling the character. You can only direct the character with one thumb. Meaning when running, you can’t look around like other RPG gameplay. If we could run with the left thumb and look around with the right, then gameplay would be dramatically improved. Other then that, I haven’t found any other issues with the game so far. I am very excited!.Version: 2.0.1

Too much like OG. Bugs galoreFrequent sound bugs and crashes making it increasingly frustrating to play. Otherwise a great port of an epic game.Version: 2.0.1

Great game but still so many bugsLike I said, great game that I’ve enjoyed since it came out 16 years ago. It’s just a shame that they still haven’t figured out how to fix the same problems from.. 16 years ago. Most of the game runs fine and beginners wouldn’t even notice anything wrong. If you’ve never played KOTOR II before, ignore this rant and consider this a 5* rating. But certain side quests are supposed to give you particular items to enable to get you inside a specific room, for instance, many many hours later into the game. Well I just found out, probably 15 more hours into the game, that the item was never actually put in my inventory. So even though I can go back in my quest log and verify I did things correctly, there’s no way to finish this extended “quest” other than go 15 hours back and replay everything once again. That’s definitely not worth my time.. I only decided to show support for you guys and buy the game again, hoping that the love was really put into it this time. Tl;dr: It’s basically a KOTOR II CD-ROM ported to iOS with some antialiasing features. It performs as such, don’t expect to discover any new (repaired) content..Version: 2.0.1

No Gamepad Support?KOTOR 1 has gamepad support and after completing and coming to KOTOR 2 to find out it’s not here is abysmal. Please fix then this game is an auto 5 stars.Version: 2.0.2
