✓ A relaxing, engaging, and peaceful puzzle gameI got this game when it went free to support people in lockdown due to the pandemic. I first just want to stop and point out how generous and kind that was before I even discuss the game. Thank you! On first glance, I was underwhelmed by the game. I thought the pruning concept was too simple and it was a rather boring. However, I am glad to say this was a very, very wrong first take. After sinking some time into this game (I am at the 4th world) I find that the game develops its mechanics in a fashion that feels intuitive to the player without having to say a word, and required me to focus on how to solve each puzzle in its unique fashion. Furthermore, they are able to build on each level while maintaining the black and white serene atmosphere. I am usually someone who always has their phone on silent. But this is a game that needs to be played with sound. The soundtrack is so calming and peaceful, and playing this game with headphones in is a meditative masterpiece..Version: 1.1.3
✓ Mostly lovely.Played through this normally, decided not to go for the post-credits puzzles. This is really pretty, and the gameplay is just thoughtful enough. Every world changes things up importantly, and the concept doesn’t overstay it’s welcome. At best, it’s really satisfying to figure out the right direction to cultivate your tree, and which branches to retain. I found this more pleasant as a sensory experience, though; it’s got a gorgeously stark visual style, and there’s something poetic about the core premise. The puzzles can sometimes feel arbitrary, alas; it didn’t seem like there was a defined solution to any of them, and the trees generally seemed random. But it’s never unfair, and even when it’s too easy, it looks and sounds great, is admirably varied, and keeps up its metaphorical resonance. Solid stuff..Version: 1.1.3

It took me 2 days to make it through the game but now I'm going back for blue flowers and to try to reach the sun etc. I would love to see some instructions added. Maybe the option to turn on or off a point system. I like the non complicated nature of it but I don't think it would be diminished with clarification and points. The art design is easily my favorite part— the use of color as a guide throughout the different levels is really clever. Keeping the game mechanics straightforward helped me feel engaged with the game while still being able to actively enjoy the unique and beautiful world you created. ✓ Absolutely Love This Game, But, Could Use a Few ImprovementsI just started playing this game about a week ago and love it. It looks so simple but there's so much more than what it looks like. There's a few things though that I feel could make the game even better and address a couple of questions and issues. I was surprised to find out there was a "ceiling" and you can only go so far up. It would be great if it was indefinite to see how far you can actually go. I was also wondering what the different color "moons" or "suns" were, are they something you want to branch out as much as possible to? And the different colored diamonds in the sky. I noticed occasionally when there's a blue diamond a blue flower will bloom then just as quick disappear. I seem to notice when cutting branches the game doesn't respond to my swipe and sometimes it takes two or three times before it cuts. Lastly, are white branches a good thing? They seem to be a random thing. It would be great if these things could be explained in the opening of the game. Otherwise, I think it's a great game!.Version: 1.0.68

Je parlerais donc de mon expérience, sans faire attention à l’avis des autres sur le sujet. Pour résumer Prune, il s’agit d’un jeu basé sur un peu de stratégie et beaucoup de relaxation. À vrai dire, j’ai du mal à définir ce jeu selon un genre, il est simplement relaxant. Le principe est assez simple, plusieurs niveaux avec une difficulté croissante, le seul objectif est de tailler son arbre pour qu’il puisse pousser plus haut et atteindre le soleil ou les étoiles. Niveau Gameplay, bien que ça soit amusant quelques minutes, je ne recommande pas d’y jouer intégralement en une journée. Vu que ce jeu est avant tout prévu pour se détendre, jouez-y quand vous voulez décompresser un peu. À noter que dans un tel jeu, se retrouver bloquer peut-être extrêmement frustrant, mais ne vous en faites pas, vous pouvez passer un niveau que vous trouver trop difficile. En soit, si certains puristes y verront un mal, il est en réalité beaucoup plus intéressant de se détendre en profitant de ce jeu que de se stresser plus à chercher une solution. Si l’on s’en tient à ça, est-ce que le jeu vaut 5$ ? Honnêtement, non, car il n’est pas si long que ça. Some people may not like it, but it’s way better if you can just relax and not have that stress of searching for the solution. With only the gameplay, does it worth 5$ ? Sadly, no, and that’s why you can see all those negative comments. The game also don’t have so much levels, however, it’s always fun to play a simply level you’ve already done and just relax while making your tree reaching the stars. But the gameplay ain’t the strength of this game. Even if it’s not clear at first, at the end of the game, you understand the full story and get a few life’s lessons. The point of this app is it's utterly beautiful simplicity. From it's deliberately minimalist instructions that encourage you to explore a stunningly stylish interface to the background sounds this is a piece of art. In a world focused so often on the destination Prune provides an opportunity, for a while, just to enjoy the experience of taking part in a journey. I found Prune quite spiritual with its tough but encouraging message about the effects (positive and negative) of our interactions with nature. Throughout the story the landscape changes as human activity affects the world, making it harder for life to thrive. However, a key point of Prune is that we have the power to help that life in its search for the light it needs. Maybe I'm reading too much into a game, but it seemed like you're being taught life lessons like you must shed old beliefs to grow (pruning), you'll be drawn to toxic people but if you let them in, they'll destroy you (the red circle), some people need coaxing to grow, couples should grow together... Again, probably reading too much into it. As for game play, it starts out easy and gets more challenging as you maneuver obstacles and try to figure out how to keep your tree going. ✓ Proof That Games Are ArtAll I can say is... wow. This game is so much more than just about cutting branches and growing flowers or whatever. It is a story; a story about life, how no matter what obstacle life encounters, it will find a way to survive and continue. And I have never felt so emotionally impacted by a game in my life, besides Shadow of the Colossus. For example, sometimes, I complete a level while the “red” stuff, whatever it is, is infecting my tree, and, even though I completed the level, I feel a pang of sadness as I know that that tree will spend the rest of its days as a red husk, unable to produce flowers or do anything other than sit there as a testimony to the red infection. I have never felt like this towards a game, ever; this is a game about GROWING TREES, for Pete’s sake. I also see a meaning in it: as I progressed, the game got more difficult but also, the themes became more industrialized and the trees became further down underground; it became more difficult for them to reach the light and people probably forgot about nature. In the last level, everything was shaking and the world was overtaken with red (nuclear holocaust of the human race?) and then everything was dead. And there was a tree, showing that life still continues. I felt it was slightly too fast paced to really enjoy the zen of trimming the trees though, and would appreciate a freeform bonus level, where it's just you and the trees, and empty space (and some environmental effects) to trim at your leisure.
