✓ Descent appSo I saw this app on Instagram and thought hey I can use a little motivation and guidance. I’ll give Peptalk a shot. I downloaded the app and paid 7.99. Which is a monthly subscription. I started to listen. I was really digging speaking and so many to choice from. Then there was this 40 minute interview with Kobe Bryant about mamba mentality. I truly thought it was incredible interview. Then I was so pumped and wanted more. I played this playlist called get motivated. I started to listen and the first 10 minutes were fantastic. ✓ This last update ruined my experience with the appWith this new update there isn’t a use for me on the app. I used to recommend this app to my friends and colleagues, but now with the limitations of only being able to listen to 3 recordings or 15 minutes worth of content, I’d be better off going to a competitor. Personally, I was ok listening to the ads in between recordings, but I feel as if y’all got greedy... you offer limited content now to free users. It’s not fun using the app anymore, and it makes it especially difficult to share with others, if I purchased the elite portion, how can I expect my friends and colleagues to do the same? ✓ Can do better with inspirational content from womenInteresting app idea. Not for me but probably very useful for a lot of people who like self help and motivational content. One thing though, there’s almost no thumbnail of any female motivational audio. And I clicked over 20 audios randomly on different topics that only two of them are female. There are lots of inspirational women out there so maybe you can improve this gender ratio if you want female users onboard. ✓ Used to be great, but it seems that you gave up...I love this app, but I feel like it seriously gets no developmental attention. I used to be a raving fan about this app. I have some of the same opinions as a lot of the people who have also reviewed. One extremely disappointing fact I came to find out, was that my list of liked audios has a cap. Meaning I have a lot of audios I have “liked” yet the list of audios cuts off, so I cannot even go back and see everything I’d like to listen to. Looking through all of the reviews and developers responses, some go back an entire year and still no changes have taken place. Again I really do love this app. I’ll happily edit and update this review, as long as some of the reviews here get some attention. ✓ FrustratedBeen paying this app for over a year. And the few times I go to use it after searching for content that sounds enticing, I get a ridiculous message about paying for the elite program. IM ALREADY AN ELITE SUBSCRIBER AND HAVE BEEN FOR OVER A YEAR!! Reached out to support a number of times and nothing changes. Same idiotic crap about killing the app and restoring. Restore what? ✓ Waste of moneyI had this app for a while and it’s content was pretty good. Then they got greedy with it. The yearly amount is a huge sum of money considering all it is, is a collection of videos you can get on YouTube. I ended up deleting this and started just using YouTube. ✓ How did it get such a high rating?I was able to listen to one pep talk before it tried to force me to pay $13. I listened to a 6 minute talk on ‘how to mentally prepare your mind for fasting’ but it didn’t tell me how at all. All he spoke about was some lame story about Buddha, about aligning yourself with god and how great he is at fasting. No way will I pay a cent to this pointless drivel. ✓ Bring back the adsI really enjoy listening to Peptalk, but I do not use it enough to justify paying a subscription. It used to be like Pandora, iHeartRadio etc where you listen to a couple peptalks and then listen to an ad. I never had a problem with that, I get it, you gotta eat. After I started listening to the app again after giving it a break for a few months I come to find that now you can only listen to 15 minutes a day for free. Again, I’m good with that. After about a week I find that now I have to actually subscribe in order to listen to anything. ✓ Love the content but the app itself…Listened to the content and loved this app all the way up until I purchased the yearly subscription. The content I unlocked is golden and i love all the motivation content is in one space. However, after purchasing, the app randomly doesn’t want to play when you close the screen. Frequency pauses when playing with the screen on and off. Along with the alarm clock that only played 2 seconds of the speech you select. Triple checked to make sure my sound was on and the silence was off. ✓ People to ‘look up’ toSo, I’m just starting this app, and have to say, ‘really?’ Because here are some people who are some what dubious public figures, whom the app lets you pick, thus will most likely use their quotes: 1) Tony Robbins - allegations in 2019 of sexual assault 2) Joe Rogan - likes to say ‘the n word’ and questions vaccines. 3) Elon Musk - must be here to tell us comedy is back on pep talk, maybe? 4) Jordan Peterson - opposes gender identity and other cringe views. 5) Will Smith - wait? I like that it has different playlists for different moods or vibes that you need that day! The only complaint I have is it’s so expensive. ✓ Edited review...I am editing my original review because my criticism of the app not having ANY content from women is clearly not accurate... after spending some time searching, I was able to find a few podcasts and such featuring women like the well-known self-help guru Brene Brown, among others... BUT- I still feel like there is a significant imbalance, with what I see on the “home” screen of the app primarily featuring men contributors... Nonetheless, I appreciate that this app could certainly be motivational for many people out there, and the content offered all around is worthwhile.
