Apollo for Reddit for Negative User Reviews

Great app for reddit but...Love Apollo for browsing reddit on iOS however, after 5-10 minutes of inactivity the app seems to become unresponsive to refreshes. I will simply run out of content and it won’t load more after jumping back in. Closing the app fixes this but then I lose my place in a subreddit. Please fix this then the app is 5 stars!.Version: 1.1.5

AbismalWhat’s the point in creating an alternative app if the system takes too long to get used to? Nothing is where you would expect it to be, the way things are organized makes no sense, the gestures are horrid. The official reddit app is quite barren and doesn’t load but there is not much point to all these extra features if you can’t get them to work. Swipe gestures for example are quite hit and miss. The UI is weirdly designed, cannot see a reason why all the info about a post is squeezed into the bottom while the top is empty, etc..Version: 1.12.2

Every part beats the competition but...This app is good on wifi, great even, but the bug that ruins it all is the fact the gifs will load regardless of settings in the app, in a single day it will use almost a gigabyte of data in an hour even when on low power mode. The developer has barely made an mention of this and is ignoring the controversy of the subreddit. I will change the review if he fixes the bug but otherwise use another app since this one will use too much data.Version: 1.4.10

Can’t postCan’t post without pro, that shoulda been very clear on download.Version: 1.2.2

Soliciting ReviewsYou get a big 1 Star for soliciting reviews in the app. Overly Attached Girlfriend also agrees that being clingy sucks. Oh, don’t also forget that charging for Push Notifications is pretty douchey. Introduce some genuine features that are worth paying a premium for, above and beyond the defaults of what people expect, and then I’ll get suckered in. Until then, I’ll stick with the default Reddit app which has push notifications built in....for free....without charging extra....Version: 1.3

Great UI but falls short in a few areasI’m gonna come right off the bat and say that this is the best UI I’ve seen on a mobile reddit client. It’s pretty and intuitive and just works much better than anything else I’ve seen. There are a few oversights however. You’re still unable to post videos even though this feature has been in the browser version of reddit for a while now. Also, when visiting quarantined or banned subreddits, it just seems to load indefinitely instead of displaying a message. Another frustrating thing is the paywall. It costs a few dollars to even be able to post and unlock a few basic reddit features that are otherwise free. It also pisses me off that you need to pay almost $40 for the app to send you notifications. I can understand paying a little extra for a few cosmetic differences, but locking notifications behind a paywall, no less a forty dollar one, is honestly ridiculous and is what pushed this app from a 5-star to a 3-star. Overall, this app is great for browsing reddit, the best even, but if you want to do more than that, you’re out of luck unless you’re willing to fork up a fair bit of money..Version: 1.4.6

Good, but paying to post isn’t the best. It’s better than the official app, but the fact that you’re required to pay to even do something as basic as posting doesn’t put it passed 2 stars..Version: 1.2.4

Keeps spamming me to buy UltraI paid for Apollo Pro. It’s honestly been a great app to use over the years, enough that I recommend it to anyone with an iPhone. Unfortunately, seemingly every few weeks now, I’ll be scrolling on Apollo and suddenly a fullscreen ad for Apollo Ultra will appear. As someone who paid for Pro, this really just feels disrespectful - because an app I paid for is now degrading the user experience to upsell me on paying again. I don’t want Apollo Ultra, and if Apollo is going to continue to disrupt my experience by interrupting my use of the app (with no warning!) to upsell me on paying more, I’m just going to switch to another app entirely. I had been giving the benefit of the doubt that this is just a bug, but it’s clear to me now that it’s either intentional, or the developer just doesn’t care anymore. Edit: changing my review to 1 star, as I see the developer has announced there will be a fullscreen Ultra ad displayed to Pro users every 1.5-2 months. This is insane. I paid for your app, now you add a “feature” to give me an intrusive popup every 1.5 months? Get real..Version: 1.14.20

Buy it only to be pestered about spending more moneyWhen I first got the app a few years ago it was decent and dont get me wrong, it mostly still gets the job done but ive started to notice some issues, such as loading errors and a few other oddities that arent so bad. The most infuriating issue is sometimes when I try to post a comment I get an error saying that “there was an issue” and to sign in again through Reddit. It may not be the developers fault but if I sign in again I STILL get the error. The other major issue and my reasoning for 1 star is that now the app spams me to pay MORE money with a monthly subscription. Its not a little message tucked away in the feed or maybe in the settings, its a full screen ad and its even manipulative in the way that its so easy to accidentally tap continue taking you away from the app to the app store or purchase the subscription. The reason why I weigh this so heavily is because I specifically purchased the Pro version to AVOID ADS. This is why people use adblock in their browser..Version: 1.15

Stop asking me to pay for ultraI already paid for pro.Version: 1.15

Spammy adsI’ve been using Apollo for years and it’s generally a great app. Unfortunately the developer has recently decided to start frequently spamming users with a full screen pop-up ads, including payed users is pro, with no ability to disable this behavior..Version: 1.14.20

Can’t post without payingWhen did this happen? I swear I used to be able to make posts without having pro. Now it wants me to subscribe before I can submit anything. Nice ultimatum, I’m uninstalling.Version: 1.14.16

Pretty disappointingI came to Apollo because the official Reddit app just keeps getting worse and worse. Recently they made the video playing interface just absolutely horrendous so that was enough for me, I decided to try the only other highly rated Reddit app out there- Apollo. But I do not understand why people enjoy it so much. Navigation feels far clunkier and way worse than the standard Reddit app. The swipe gestures that are standard are infuriating, and the only way to change them is buying the pro version of the app. I’m sick of upvoting a comment or a post when I was just trying to swipe to go back. It happens constantly. I also really hate having to go ALL the way to the top left corner to switch out to r/all or popular posts, instead of being able to quickly swipe over from the main screen to do so. I enjoy Reddit as a time waster, and as such I find myself looking at it a lot. But all of the app options for iOS are frustrating and the mobile site is infuriating (seemingly by design). I guess I’m just going to have to deal with whichever app irritates me less..Version: 1.10.11

Great app ruined by a greedy developerApollo is a great app, one of the closest ive found to alien blue (was the best reddit client until reddit killed it). However, the developer has begun spamming ads for his subscription model to users who have already paid for the "pro" tier. He has said on record that "pro" users will never get ads, yet he continuously pushes pop-ups advertising his overpriced subscription model. He has also stopped pushing new features for "pro" users, only adding new features to the ultra tier. Christian is incredibly greedy and this is going to be the downfall of what was once a great app..Version: 1.15

Not really holding up to the official Reddit app for me so farComment threads are easier to follow and I like the personalized settings (although you can’t personalize much unless you pay money), but I generally dislike the app’s formatting. I don’t like that the subreddit of a post and the time it was posted are both listed at the bottom of the post as opposed to the top of it like it is on the official reddit app. I have to scroll past the content to see what subreddit it’s on in order to properly contextualize what I’m looking at, which bothers me. I also dislike how you have to manually choose how you want posts filtered on each subreddit every time you visit a subreddit. For example, there are certain subreddits that I like to have filtered by new posts (such as r/instantkarma & r/JusticeServed). The official Reddit app remembers what I last set each subreddit to, whereas Apollo does not and I have to manually change the post filter every time. If there’s some way around this that I’ve missed someone please enlighten me. Until then, this app isn’t quite doing it for me and I’m regretting spending money on it..Version: 1.2.2

Just switched to Apollo from BaconReader......really liking Apollo so far - the UI is nice and clean, dealing with things like flairing posts is much easier, as is scrolling left-handed. Recommended. EDIT: reduced by a couple of stars because, while the UI is still very nice, there are a couple of really annoying bugs. First, Apollo routinely stops being able to connect. Second, it often won’t allow copying and pasting text from other apps like Drafts. Third, when you have Apollo open and lock your iPhone, it often prevents you from being able to reopen the phone with Face ID..Version: 1.6.5

Laughably badThis app is just awful, it has all this fluff in the description about being “the best reddit app” yet the basic reddit app is much better than this. This app takes a long time to load anything, stupid buttons at the bottom of the screen, like why would I need to have the settings button down there taking up that space? Why not just have a settings button in the account bit? So now i have to try and find the home page, you charge for most of the features you advertise. Even the upvote and reply buttons are hidden away, requires an extra click.i have to pay to post to reddit?! That’s outrageous, you shouldn’t be charging for something that is FREE to everyone else. The slow loading made me delete the app straight away and go back to the reddit app.Version: 1.2

Great concept, poor business model. It’s great to see there are alternatives to the bad becoming worse reddit app and this is an awesome attempt at it. The creator is proactive and always adding features which is awesome. As to be expected a lot of these additional features that can’t be found in the reddit app are a premium here but those extra features are certainly worth paying for. But there is one major dealbreaker here and that is you can’t actually make posts using this app unless you pay for it. That changes the concept of this app being a free community run app with some premium extras into a you have to pay if you want to be able to use the most bare minimum basics of the reddit service, posting. The app is pretty cool although it comes across text heavy for some. I’d have been happy to pay for premium features but uninstalling based on the profiteering..Version: 1.10.9

Seriously, actually fix the auto orientationEvery update is like, “we fixed bugs”. The last one even mentions fixing videos zoom to wrong place. Although, the same issue has been around for months. If you click an video/gif ( sometimes a photo) so that it is full screen, then turn the phone, the video gets stuck in the corner until the app crashes. Like really? No other app I have ever used has this issue..Version: 1.15.4

PaywallBasic features like making a post or changing some settings are locked behind a paywall..Version: 1.10.4

Has access to all of your accountI hope people know that this app has access to everything on Reddit. They can: Manage my subreddit subscriptions. Manage "friends" - users whose content I follow. Edit structured styles for a subreddit I moderate. Submit and change my votes on comments and submissions. Edit wiki pages on my behalf Access the list of subreddits I moderate, contribute to, and subscribe to. Submit links and comments from my account. Access the moderation log in subreddits I moderate. Approve, remove, mark nsfw, and distinguish content in subreddits I moderate. Manage and assign flair in subreddits I moderate. Save and unsave comments and submissions. Invite or remove other moderators from subreddits I moderate. Access posts and comments through my account. Access my inbox and send private messages to other users. Report content for rules violations. Hide & show individual submissions. Access my reddit username and signup date. Manage settings and contributors of live threads I contribute to. Update preferences and related account information. Will not have access to your email or password. Access traffic stats in subreddits I moderate. Read wiki pages through my account Edit and delete my comments and submissions. Change editors and visibility of wiki pages in subreddits I moderate. Accept invitations to moderate a subreddit. Remove myself as a moderator or contributor of subreddits I moderate or contribute to. Access my voting history and comments or submissions I've saved or hidden. Select my subreddit flair. Change link flair on my submissions. Maintain this access indefinitely (or until manually revoked). And that’s not all. That’s insane. I’m not letting all my info go to this app..Version: 1.10.5

Caching Update Bug?Apollo is awesome normally, but the past few weeks it seems to stop updating comments once they’ve loaded on certain posts. Has happened on the formula1 sub the past 2 race weekends, live updates & manual pull to refresh are both broken & make Apollo useless for the main reason I used it! If you clear cache manually in settings you can then refresh once & get new comments but you have to do that every time to get more updates. It’s happening on 2 different devices with latest Apollo version & I’m not logged into Reddit, just browsing. Please fix this! Will up my rating to where it should be: 5 stars once this is fixed! Thanks for the awesome work on this app otherwise..Version: 1.12.2

Allgood except one problemEverytime I press and hold on a link. the App crashes.Version: 1.12.2

Great App, Greedy DevThe app itself is functional and fairly well-polished, with the exception of some small quality of life issues/bugs. It is in my opinion the best iOS reddit app. I always purchase the pro version of apps I use regularly, and have purchased this one; However, the requirement to pay in order to submit a post (which is a BASIC function on a FREE website) is ludicrous. Even more ridiculous is the monthly paid subscription for, again, the FREE and BASIC function of push notifications. I cannot believe a developer is allowed to charge to ‘provide’ the basic functionality of a website they did not create. Greedy and greasy, hence my two star rating on an otherwise excellent app..Version: 1.6.2

Predatory in-app purchase upgradesI paid for the Pro version of the app (~10 USD one time payment) at a time when it was said that Pro users would get all "core" functionality for the lifetime of the app. Since then the developer has shown that this is a lie, as the Ultra tier (~12 USD/year subscription) now has actual functionality locked behind it, when it was previously just a way to support him further, with only cosmetic bonuses attached. Additionally, the app repeatedly spams people with full screen pop-ups (to promote Ultra) whenever there is a version update. The developer cannot be taken at their word, and Apollo's quality is not worthy of a subscription plan of any cost. Even if you buy the "lifetime" Ultra subscription (~40 USD one time payment) I suspect they'll just introduce an Omega tier a year or two from now, and start locking features behind that..Version: 1.15

Recent update has broken downloadsDownloading and saving GIFs and images used to be easy, but the recent update has changed this for some reason. Additionally, the app crashes while trying to download GIFs and the download obviously fails. I use iPhone 6 with whatever latest iOS is..Version: 1.8.1

Riddled with bugs. Author ignores. This app is riddled with bugs which have been discussed for the past 3 years! The author either constantly says he is working on it or just ignores the community. I, a paying customer, who has purchased both Pro and Ultra separately (over $50), have been trying to make contact with Christian (the author) for a week and a half now through three different channels of direct contact. He is blatantly ignoring me, as well as having my posts on the r/ApolloApp subreddit deleted, when all I posted was legitimate questions about some bugs. This is appalling. I will be demanding a refund..Version: 1.10.5

I’m not paying to postThis is a beautiful app. But the fact that you have to pay to post is something I refuse to do. I really would love to use it but posting on Reddit is the entire purpose of Reddit and I might as well use the official Reddit app if that’s the case. I can’t give it higher than 1 star on that very fact alone. Disappointed..Version: 1.10.4

Have to pay to post?!?!?You cant post to a sub without paying for the pro version. Why on earth would you remove that function from the free version? The app has a few nice gimmicks but thats all they are.Version: 1.6

Hide read itemsSometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It would be great if we don’t have to repeat already read post or scrolling until fingers are tired. And it should link in our account in different devices another flaw is it keeps bouncing back to home page when you accidentally swipe down left, not left..Version: 1.10.12

Used to have notifications. Now they are an ultra feature.Don't take away functionality!.Version: 1.3

Extremely buggyThis app is good for reading but will randomly become unresponsive on you mid animation, freeze while trying to post a comment, as well as just loose your comment without any chance of retrying or copying of it couldn't get connection right that second. Its incredibly fusturating for long form comments..Version: 1.2.2

One small problem as of recentlySo I've been using this app essentially from when it was created and I have and still do absolutely love. I only use a fraction of all the features it has to offer and even still it is by far the best Reddit mobile experience I've seen. However, for the past week or so there's been a reoccurring glitch that has been incredibly frustrating. I'm using an iPhone 7 running iOS 11.2.1 for the record. So this usually occurs after I've been using the app for at least 10-15 minutes continuously. I'll be a few dozen posts down through my home page or one specific subreddit and suddenly I'll lose the ability to click on posts. I can scroll through the subreddit, click on the thumbnail, vote, and even use haptic touch or whatever it's called. But I can't click in a way that brings me to the post's "page" and thus there's no way I can view more than the top couple comments. The problems seems to fix itself temporarily when I force close the app and come back, but then I lose my place in the subreddit or on my home page. It's a very annoying problem on an app that has otherwise worked perfectly. Please fix soon, and my rating will go back up to 5 stars..Version: 1.1.5

DO NOT PAY FOR PRO OR ULTRAI initially paid for the Pro tier of this app to remove ads. However, ever since the Ultra tier subscription was added, every time there’s a holiday sale, I’ve gotten repeated full-screen ads for the sale that need to be dismissed more than once with a small, hard-to-click X in the corner. I already paid for Pro to support the dev and get rid of ads forever. Why am I still seeing full-screen pop-up ads more than once? The dev acknowledged on Reddit that seeing it more than once was a bug after the Black Friday and Christmas sale, but that it brought in more money. Now, here I am having dismissed the Easter sale ad no less than THREE TIMES across my iPad and iPhone. Also, where is the iPad-optimized app we keep being promised? It seems the dev is now just trying to milk more money out of people with a subscription service, completely ignoring the fact that Pro users ALREADY PAID MONEY NOT TO SEE ADS. I regret ever giving one cent to this dev. Don’t make the same mistake as me (or an even worse one by paying even more for Ultra)..Version: 1.15

NahFor a long time, Apollo was the best Reddit app available. Now, the dev is using dark patterns and constant pop ups trying to get people to subscribe. Subscribe. To a Reddit app. Nah, bro, it’s good, but not $10 to make a new post good. But what really grinds my gears is that in the last few months, the ability to filter subreddits, which was once free, was locked behind a paywall. So I can’t block objectionable content because I didn’t pay the dev for a feature available in the official app and Reddit site. I know the dev is just one person but this is getting ridiculous. Gonna start charging me to launch it, too?.Version: 1.14.19

Was great until ...I see you HAVE to pay to post. Removed the app instantly..Version: 1.4.18

IPad app needs some workHi, enjoy using Apollo especially on a phone. On iPad however the experience is very much just a blown up phone version. A perfect example is that the subreddits menu fills up the entire screen. Need much higher information density on the iPad using the split panes etc for it to be really great. You need to adapt the new three column panes of iOS 14 ASAP so we can see subreddit menu, list of posts, and the selected item in a larger pane all at once. At the moment it’s really poor having to view one thing at a time in full screen on a large landscape iPad..Version: 1.10.4

Cannot be trusted!Still spamming me with Ultra purchase Ads. Such a disappointment! >>> I’ve already paid for the Pro version and previously tipped what a thought was an excellent developer. The recent updates have changed my opinion. The App for several updates now has had a shady nag screen constantly popping up over the full screen. Not only this but the pop up is automatically selected to a paid subscription that is not intuitive to cancel out of. All very shady and more like one of the scam apps that plague the App Store. I have lost all trust in the developer…..Version: 1.14.26

Once great now pointless.I used to love this app, it let you do everything you needed but now features I had literally a week ago have been taken away and placed behind a paywall. It’s so bizarre having so many features removed in one update and being constantly provided with subscription plan nags. I don’t imagine this tactic by the developer has done anything other than frustrate users into just abandoning the app forever rather than making us subscribe like their plan was..Version: 1.14.21

Not badThe only problem I have with this app is that it refreshes every time I go between apps on iOS and it’s really annoying if I’m in the middle of reading a thread and go to answer a message. Go back to the app and it refreshes and the thread is gone. It’s really irritating. If there’s a setting I’ve missed that stops this from happening then please point me in the direction. It’s the feature I miss the most about Alien..Version: 1.2.4

Broken promises and subscriptionsThe app has two paid options - Pro (one and done) and Ultra (subscription). Pro users who paid for an upgrade were promised the core features wouldn’t be locked behind Ultra. Unfortunately, with each new major update, more and more is locked behind the Ultra subscription paywall. The development promise was made in bad faith, and people should really only consider this app if they’re comfortable with paying for an ongoing subscription. It’s a disappointing change of direction to say the least..Version: 1.15

You have to pay if you want to post!!!I’ve used this app for some time now. I’ve had issues with it crashing from time to time, but that wasn’t a huge deal and I mostly liked it otherwise. I primarily browse, but I do post occasionally. I was shocked when I went to make a post for the first time on the app and found that posting, of all things, is behind a paywall! What?!?! Posting is a core function. Reddit is literally comprised of posts. To make a Reddit browser that puts posting behind a paywall is completely unacceptable. This is, unfortunately, a dealbreaker for me. On to the numerous other options that don’t make you pay to post. It’s unfortunate as I’ve become accustomed to the UI and thought this was an otherwise solid app. I will not pay to post on freakin Reddit, though, out of principal. There are plenty of feature that could acceptably be put behind paywalls to generate revenue. Posting sure as hell isn’t one of those features, though. Posting isn’t a feature, it’s the foundation of the entire platform!.Version: 1.4.10

Disappointing state of developmentI’ve been a proponent of this app since nearly the beginning. I bought Pro and then Ultra lifetime, supported the developer financially several times. And it’s easy to see why. This app is great, I used to recommend it to everyone. Such a better Reddit experience. Sure some features like Chat are missing but I actually consider that a bonus as modern default Reddit is way too cluttered. Apollo is how it should be. My poor rating is for the disappointing state of Apollo’s development it finds itself in. A far-improved iPad app has been promised and teased for five years now. It’s not coming for a long time if ever. Instead we get features like Pixel Pals which have literally nothing to do with a Reddit app. The solo developer is unfortunately prioritising revenue-generating measures and nagging upsell ads to push people to pay for a subscription. He is making a conscious decision to irritate his paying customers and not provide them with an opt-out toggle. He is cluttering the app with things like Pixel Pals. And he is not implementing highly-requested, long-promised features like the iPad app. It’s all just disappointing. I loved this app. But I would avoid today. I don’t think the negative path this app is on is going to turn around. The developer is coming off as greedy in his actions. It doesn’t fill one with confidence for the future direction of Apollo..Version: 1.14.19

Stop the adsDespite paying for Pro, Apollo sill routinely attempts to upsell unwanted features with large intrusive full screen adverts. This has gotten significantly worse with “Black Friday deals”. I think this past week I’ve dismissed at least 5 adverts..Version: 1.14.14

Beautiful App, but requires payment to postI was really feeling this app (an AMAZING amount of customization options are available to optimize your viewing, as well as night mode and even icon customization [the last of which you do need to pay for]) right up until I was told it was p2p (pay-to-post). Look, I get it. You need revenue to avoid filling this thing up with ads, because excessive ads can/will drive away users. And I totally understood the paid cosmetic customization decisions. But having posting behind a paywall was a huge no go for me. That’s literally what Reddit is, a giant *free to use* Internet forum for sharing ideas. You don’t have to buy Reddit gold to post (and though obviously those donors who do buy Reddit gold help keep it running, the average user is not required to donate), and if I don’t need to pay to use Reddit, I’m sure as heck not going to pay to use Reddit through a third party app. For me, that was the big deal breaker. Otherwise, I think it’s a beautiful app and seemed very nicely done (I honestly really did enjoy the 15 minutes of browsing I did with it, there are some amazing features), but I’ll be sticking with the official Reddit app for now..Version: 1.1.1

This app is incredible, but I have some issues. This app is like the Reddit mobile app but more polished and more accessible. However, you cannot do some things on this app like write a post without buying the full version of the app. I understand that a small business made this app and needs its users support to keep it going, but the app isn’t exactly cheap to buy. Some people just aren’t in a position to spend that kind of money. Without buying the pro version of the app you are limited quite a lot to what you can do with the app..Version: 1.10.9

Stop The Ad SpamGive us the option to permanently disable your upsell ads. I already paid for pro, I don’t want ultra..Version: 1.14.19

I Don't Get it.I've been using this app for a couple weeks now, and I seriously don't get why people like it so much. The gestures are near impossible to consistently get right. In an attempt to upvote, I find myself either downvoting or jumping out of the subreddit. No problem, I'll just use the buttons. Now, I'm left-handed, which means I normally use the smaller buttons to the left. (I also found it frustrating that those cannot be swapped) After scrolling for a good while, I will find myself accidentally pressing the "Posts" button at the bottom instead of the upvote button, sending me all the way back to the top of the page. At that point, I generally close the app out of frustration, only to come back later and eventually have it happen again. I can tell the developers put a ton of effort into this app. Customization, a clean build, and so on make it very robust. It feels to me though that the devs don't actually use it outside of the office. Or, furthermore, it is only tested by the developers, who already understand every single aspect of how the app works. I'll be going back to the official Reddit app, but I'll keep this one around to see if it improves..Version: 1.4.6

Potential but disappointing.Coming from a Samsung to iPhone my options we’re limited in terms of which app to go for. The offical app is clunky and annoying to use and some other third party apps are chocked full of adds and inconveniences. This app, however, is intuitive, smart, and easy to learn. Now this would be all well and good if not for ONE key mistake. You have to PAY to SUBMIT A POST. In an app for a website that is literally all about sharing, interacting, and POSTING this is a major flaw. Now I wouldn’t be offended if it had a premium app price point that allowed access to things like Gold and Plat lounge but the fact that a third party app feels the need to limit the postings for the site for money is really against everything reddit stands for. Horribly disappointed, I will not be paying 7.99 just to be able to post photos of my cute dogs. Uninstalled..Version: 1.6.2

Good not great. Do not pay for pro.The free version is pretty good, although requiring payment to post is pretty lame. I finally decided to pay for the pro version and not I am getting an unacceptable amount of pop up ads to upgrade to the “ultra” version. Ridiculous. Why am I getting more upgrade ads with the paid version than I did with the free version? I recommend anyone reading this does not pay for pro..Version: 1.15

Paid for app but constantly nags for subscriptionsThis app is so annoying. I’ve paid for the app but every day it is bringing up a full screen popup nagging me to buy icon packs and so on. The author needs to improve on improvements for the buggy app, not pointless icons and annoying nagware..Version: 1.14.19

1 star for full screen ads even if you paidSo yeah this app presents full screen ads even if you paid for Pro. This isn’t a bug and the creator has been informed of this behaviour over a year ago and doesn’t care. So 1 star until it stops spamming me with ads..Version: 1.15

Great for iPhone, Improvements needed for iPadApollo for iPhone beats the Reddit app hands down, however, the iPad app is somewhat lacking, the UI for the iPad is extremely lazy and doesn’t make use of the screen size, For instance, when viewing the list of subscribed subreddits, the whole screen is taken up on the iPad, it would be better if it followed the new sidebar design Apple has pushed out. It is good to see keyboard shortcuts and trackpad support, but it really needs more focus on the iPad now, instead of some pointless icons!.Version: 1.10.8

Downgrade from official appDownloaded this after hearing recommendations over the official reddit app. Doesn’t play gfycat gifs, half the time when opening a twitter link in the in app browser it won’t let twitter load, and if i open to safari and i have the app for the website it will open to safari still; it won’t redirect to the app. Not to mention I donated money to the app but i have to pay MORE money to get push notifications?? Disgraceful..Version: 1.3.1

Bad UI, frustrating user experienceThe number of times I’ve scrolled down 40 posts deep into the front page only to accidentally hit the “subreddits” button causing me to lose where I was and have to scroll through all those posts again is infuriating. This is objectively bad design. The subreddits option should be its own place on the bottom bar menu, not where users can easily hit it while trying to go back to the front page after reading the comments on a post..Version: 1.2.2

Literally unusableSo I decided I’d give Apollo a try on the iPad. I figured it might be cooler than the reddit app. I quickly realised that to go back from a post, you have to tap the back button on the TOP LEFT OF THE IPAD SCREEN. You can’t swipe back anywhere on the screen to go back, that is, until I found a setting for just that. I flip that switch so fast, and boom. There it is. “Gimme your wallet”. Also, in landscape mode, when scrolling through the home page or whatever, there are large empty spaces on the left and right of the screen. So that, combined with the app’s top and bottom bars, which are always visible, means that the amount of actual content I can see at any given time, is in not much more than the same screen real estate as my iPhone. It gets worse. Put the iPad in portrait mode. And there are still (albeit smaller) valuable empty spaces on the left and right of the screen. Worse still, the top bar is twice the height it needs to be..Version: 1.12.2

Paying for a basic functionality? Uninstalled.Imagine having to pay to post to Facebook or Twitter. It’s a free function on Reddit. I’m not paying you for the privilege of doing something free through your app when there are plenty of free alternatives and even one-time paid alternatives that don’t charge monthly..Version: 1.6.3

Used to love this app. Not anymore. This used to be my favourite reddit app. After I had to restore my phone and reinstall the app I lost a few features I loved like being able to customise what swiping left and right did with comments and posts. Is it’s locked behind a paywall. And the most recent thing really annoying me is almost every time I open it getting a giant add to purchase the pro version. I’m out. Just deleted the app. Will check back in in a few months to see if free version is any better like the original..Version: 1.14.14

A rip off down the roadWhen you mostly use reddit for text posts, sneaking up a submission fee is pretty low. I would honestly rather have to view advertisements..Version: 1.2.4
