✓ Triple the word fun.When the Scra$$le people decided to “update” their classic game, most of the “improvements “ were not to my liking. This game, however, keeps the classic elements intact. The wrinkles and revisions in this game don’t detract from the fundamentals, while offering a dictionary or two of new and unusual words to potentially put into play. ✓ Excellent scrabble appThis is the best scrabble app I’ve recently come across. It’s been very well conceived, and I especially like the features that the computer can show you the best tile placings you could’ve made, after you’ve had your go, and that you can edit the dictionary. Two things that could be improved: (1) The screen stays fixed in portrait. I’d much prefer it, on my ipad, in landscape - which is the screen position that the vast majority of tablet holders are designed to accommodate. (2) The difficulty settings don’t seem especially well calibrated. I started on ‘hard’ but found this too easy, so have moved up to ‘master’, where the computer play is admittedly better, but it’s not what I’d call ‘master’, and what I need, to REALLY challenge me, is another setting above this! I hated Scrabble GO and immediately deleted the app (after writing a nasty review 😏). Your app is close to the original. It’s worth purchasing since this is the app I use to relax before sleep. ✓ Brilliant alternative to ScrabbleIf you like Scrabble, you’ll love this word game. It’s just as good, if not better, without all the intrusive adverts every time you play a word. The free version has discrete ads at the top of the board. It’s worth getting the ad free version as you get word definitions, ability to change the board configuration and word hints based on your tiles. You can play against a real life opponent, but I choose the computer. No time limits either. You can choose level of difficulty too. The only small gripe is the American spellings that the computer uses to play words..Version: 3.4.2

So finding Master Word was a good surprise, it means we don’t have to entirely go back to the board and bag. ✓ No Nonsense, a Pleasure to PlayFinally, an implementation of Scrabble that acknowledges that it’s a word game, not another version of candy crush or some other shiny, sparkly ADHD app. Word Master presents a clean interface that doesn’t interfere with, or try to jazz up, the game. I’ve only played the against-the-computer mode so far, and I’m pleased - this is the closest to the version I liked back in the days of my Palm Treo. A couple of suggestions for the developer: * allow changing of the blank squares on the board. Currently the blank must be dragged back to the tray to reset it. * add a landscape mode for iPad players * [UPDATE: I must have lucked out in my first four games - I’m now at about 60% win rate, so ‘Master’ is a good challenge!] look into a tougher computer opponent. In the older Hasbro versions of Scrabble, I was about 60-70% victorious over the hardest computer opponent. In Word Master I’m so far 4 for 4..Version: 3.5

The words the computer uses are obscure and would not appear in most English dictionaries. Would be nice if one of the customisations would be to install the Oxford concise dictionary. It’s a straightforward game that lets you play against the computer at different skill levels, and has a couple of nice features: it will tell you the definition of any word on the board, and it will tell you what it thinks the best play was on your turn. ✓ Fun on easy levelI think I’m a relatively intelligent person but as soon as I bought the pro version, some strange words appeared on MEDIUM level (supposed to be the second easiest level). “Enrol” is allowed as an alternative to “enroll,” but not “reenrol”? Medium is nearly impossible to beat. So I switched to EASY and still found strange words like “adepts” (“adept” is a word but I’ve never heard of “adepts”). Also, the auto zoom when you take your turn putting down letters gets extremely annoying. I would like to see this feature done away with, otherwise I’m constantly zooming back out with each turn (which in turn causes me to inadvertently highlight words and I have to X out of the pop-up definition window, even more annoying). Finally, when I play to the end of the bag and have only one or two letters left, the opponent keeps skipping turns so I’m the one left to search high and low for a spot to play my final letters, or end the game. Is there no better way to handle this? It’s a waste of time. Otherwise it’s a great game! I like being able to take my time playing against the computer/phone, not having real opponents who take forever with their turn, and just being able to focus on the game. Word Domination is the opposite, making you pay to play games, and play different types of games just to earn enough gems to play the scrabble game. This is much better..Version: 3.4

Spent the money to get the Pro version and am very satisfied with it. Each game presents a new and interesting puzzle, unlike the crossword puzzles which tend to be not quite as random as they should be. Without the ads, it flows smoothly from game to game. Only downside I see is that the computer opponent comes up with some questionable words that are acceptable to its dictionary. If I can accept that, then I can use them also. I like the feature of swiping across a word to get its definition. This app is very enjoyable! Worth the money..Version: 3.6.1

✓ Decent successor to ScrabbleAfter reading so many negative reviews about the new Scrabble Go I looked at other options. This is a very decent alternative. Pro: has a nice unobtrusive “Master” icon you can click to find the better plays (not just the best!) you could have made. Con: when playing Pass and Play, you have to click the next person’s name before it will come up, so you get a look at their rack. Pro: nice feature of swiping to get dictionary definition. Cons: no in-game dictionary you can use to check if word is OK before you play. Also, the OK words are not conformed to Scrabble official dictionary. The ability to add 40 words to the game dictionary does not make up for this. Pro: nice interface and no distracting stuff, unlike, apparently, Scrabble Go. Pro: options include playing against the computer with ability to set difficulty levels, and Pass and Play. Overall a nice successor. ✓ Granny rejoices!!I was so sad to have lost my favourite game of Scrabble...coerced into Scrabble Go, which is for teenagers who like fluffy girl icons and awful ads. I’m 72, enjoy Advanced word games, playing against the computer. It is my relaxation, it keeps my mind active. Scrabble Go lasted 15 minutes before I ditched it, it was not for me. I was persuaded that Wordmaster Pro might fit the bill. Firstly, there are no ads....whoopeeeee! Secondly, it seriously understands what the player wants...it’s calm and the look and feel is good. There could be a few improvements...Landscape playing would be preferable. Toning down the score tiles would be good....it’s too bright, they jump out at you and it’s quite tiring to distinguish between letters, words and tiles. You have to play it and it will reject. Of course you could always use a paper scrabble dictionary if you were so inclined. When they closed it down and tried to migrate their fan base to Scrabble Go, I had a look at it and one day of it was a day too long!! Ugghhh, it was truly terrible! When I saw this alternative and the reviews, I decided to download it and within an hour had paid for the upgraded Pro version. This is a terrific game....fast, easily configured and games that are completed in a few minutes vs a few days like old scrabble. My only big complaint is not having the game available in Landscape...you have to currently play in portrait mode which is a pain on my iPad. ✓ Almost perfect...I obsessively played the old Scrabble game from EA until it was discontinued. I found its replacement. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was because of the word suggestion feature. The old scrabble game would give you a suggestion of not only the word but where to put it for optimal points. I learned how to play a better game from this feature. The suggestion feature on this game gives you a possible word but not where to put it. I eventually turned the feature off. The dictionary works well. If you don’t care about the dictionary just get an ad blocker and use the free version. I have the Lockdown app (iphone only) and I never saw an ad on the free version. The features and ability to customize it are very nice and well beyond the old (discontinued) Scrabble app. Playing the game is easy as you want it to be but hard as it can be on the most difficult level. This application is terrible. The algorithms are clearly set to load the rack of letters with losing combinations to increase difficulty. The statistical probability of having all of the “U”‘a or V”’s, or nothing but vowels is clearly low. Having this happen on a regular/consistent basis seems impossible or is improbable at best. Overall, the application has made me a better player. I take the impossible letter racks and make the best hand I can (I refuse to be forced into an exchange of letters). This, coupled with the “master” teaching feature has improved my game to where my high scores have trended much higher. But about that faulty algorithm…..Version: 3.6.1

One slight annoyance for me is that you can't change the colors of the bonus squares: the green double-letter squares throw me off sometimes because they remind me more of the TL than the DL color on a real Scrabble board. There are no bells and whistles and no Las Vegas style or scammy advertisements that appear after every move like there is on Scrabble Go. That means I can finish a game in one sitting. ✓ Not quite the old Scrabble app but not too badI have been playing Scrabble with the original Scrabble app for years. I love it. I was very upset when it was no longer being supported. I downloaded Scrabble Go about a year ago and deleted it after a few minutes. I would rather play Candy Crush (which I also hate). I just wanted a version of the old board game that I could play on my phone or iPad. I kept the old Scrabble app, which I loved, until today. It was messing up my iPad too much. I downloaded Scrabble Go again thinking that in a year they may have listened to all the reviews asking for a basic Scrabble game that would be good for adults. I was wrong and within 5 minutes I deleted it - again. I hated Scrabble Go because I don’t want to play against another person. I want to play in a time frame that fits my schedule - not someone else's. I hate having to wait for them to make a move. I also hated all the video game extras. I just wanted my old Scrabble app or something close. I found this app and read the reviews. It needs some improvement, but it is much, much better than Scrabble Go. My biggest complaint - not able to use it in landscape on my iPad. I have a keyboard attached and using it in portrait is a pain. For that, it gets only 4 stars. I downloaded Scrabble GO and made a real effort to give the new app a fair try, but it is a thoroughly annoying, dumbed-down, bling-ridden, pimped-out, intrusively attention-seeking and money-grubbing atrocity. WM is a worthy substitute for the fine old EA app, faithfully recreating an authentic Scrabble-like experience and offering a decent challenge on higher levels. So one can score more heavily than before. You can also test if your word is correctly spelt without having to enter it on the board itself. ✓ Five stars — and 3 questionsThis is a great game once customized to my liking. But here are some questions/requests: 1) It would be nice to access the list of two-letter words with one click, not three clicks. 2) Your game description says that it will tell me if a word is valid or invalid as I place it on the board. This does NOT happen until I press play. Am I missing something? 3) Your app description says there is access to two dictionaries in English. I do not see them. Should I be able to look up words? Or does this refer to the function of swiping for a definition AFTER the word is played? Thanks for a wonderful game that I play every day. ✓ Like it a lotI got this free version to replace the original Scrabble I had used for years. Unfortunately, they got greedy and wanted me to upgrade to an expensive version. Since I didn't, annoying ads popped up after every move. That's when I said goodbye and opted for free versions such as this one. I'm very happy with this game June 2017-I lowered my rating by 1 because I wish it had Scrabble's ability to rapidly recall tiles from the board instead of doing so individually. ✓ Fantastic appWow! This is a fantastic app. We used to enjoy playing the Scrabble app, but this is so much better. No longer do you need to mourn the loss of that old app. You can configure the board anywhere you like, and play at a variety of levels. Even if the old Scrabble were to revert back to its original format I can NOT or will not go back. Word Master is sensibly well thought out and a big three cheers to it's creators/programmers for an enriching and positive game experience. ✓ Brilliant, but....,First let me say I’m loving this game, I have customised the board and tiles so it’s exactly the same as scrabble. I was panicking that when I got a new phone I would lose my original scrabble because of scrabble go, but this is the answer, really great. But... i think there is something wrong with the letter distribution algorithm. I seem to spend far too much time just trying to dump vowels, it just throws them at you non-stop. And very often if you play one or two vowels on their own, you get exactly the same letters back again. This happens far too often for it to be a coincidence. Having played real scrabble on a board with a bag of letters for many years, I know this is not the norm, so I definitely think there’s something wrong. Fix this and it will be a perfect scrabble experience. Update: it’s not just vowels, if you play any single letter as your turn, you invariably get the same letter back, whether it be C, V, whatever. Definitely something wrong here.Version: 3.5.2
✓ Great Scrabble-style GameThis is a good Scrabble clone, nice clear interface and just enough options. Difficulty levels are accurate — easy is easy, medium is a good game, hard is quite a challenge! The only feature i would request is more detailed stats about my game history, for example i would like to see a record of all my scores so i could track my progress. All in all, a great game, well worth the price. If you like Scrabble or other word games i highly recommend..Version: 2.7.1

✓ Great app!This app is helping me no end….I have reached that stage in my later years when word finding can be a hit and miss process😄. I thought this app would help me to strengthen my vocabulary once more with words again becoming resident in my head, and more easily recalled when needed. It is working well!
