✓ Always crashesThis is a great app and I love the layout however it keeps freezing or crashing in the middle of doing anything which means that finishing a picture on this is a nightmare. I’d be changing the exposure or something and suddenly everything stops and I have to restart the app and find the picture all over again. Its really frustrating hopefully you will fix it soon or I might have to move on to another app..Version: 5.3.9
✓ Saving one photo a day? ✓ No Point in Using AnymoreI used to love using polarr to make my pictures look cooler or better but I just recently used it and realized that I now have to pay, which makes no sense whatsoever. This app was different than all the other photo editing apps, it would add a lot more to the pictures and make the photos pop and the quality of the app has gone down, another reason I’ve always loved using this app is because it didn’t need you to pay to use a lot of the editing options , but now.. I can’t use a whole lot and even just the simplest stuff requires me to pay now. Please do better. ✓ Can’t Use The App (Premium)I have used this app for a few years now and when I came to edit something on there this morning I have been met with the fact that everything is more or less under premium. ✓ It’s always changingI’ve had two really good filters but the app is so laggy. it never registers your touch properly so you have to click it again, but then you’d accidentally delete something. and then this stupid update that god rid of all of my filters! there isn’t even a way to get them back, i’d recommend at LEAST some sort of vault where we can go back to our old filters it’s slow, constantly updating and buggy.Version: 6.0.36
✓ Became a cashgrabWhat was once a brilliant app to support creativity has become a massive cash grab . Everything is locked unless you pay. If you made this app like £5 or something and made it a one time purchase then I’d be like sure why not. But you’re marketing this app as a free option but then forcing everyone to pay monthly to use it . Polarr is becoming its own downfall with paywalls at every turn. ✓ Fault with update automatically goes to Pro after you close the appThe update defaults to PRO after closing app in Express. I updated this app and it somehow put me into Pro mode , and this is why I could not do any thing till I payed EXTRA money . So I deleted it . So I installed it again and it loaded into the Basic mode and it now lets me us it the way it was before the update. But still goes back to Pro mode. After closing and when I go back in it’s in Pro mode again ..Version: 4.4.6

✓ Polarr - Failure And SuccessfulIt’s not like I haven’t used this app before; it’s been a while now. However, Polarr still suffers from bugs just like back when Polarr was released. This is not understandable as it continues to be difficult to use with these bugs. One bug that has survived since release: Black Screen / Crash! This is the most annoying bug that exists in this app! You could be spending several hours working on editing a photo only for the app to crash and cause you to lose that photo or it’s replaced with: Black Gradient Screen Overall, Polarr succeeds in the photo editing. But the bugs still exist and it destroys almost everything about this app that I try to enjoy. I can’t forgive the developers as they haven’t fixed this bug and continues to ignore it... 3/5 Stars!.Version: 5.3.9
✓ THIS IS ANNOYINGEvery time I open the app, I select a photo go into choosing a filter, to customs and the app crashes back to ‘select a photo’ but I can’t choose the same photo. ✓ Officially completely unusable for meThis has been my go to app for a long time. I had an editing process down and loved the results every time. Unfortunately, little by little, the tools I would always use became premium tools. It was annoying at first but I could still make use of what was left but had to go to other apps to finish what I couldn’t do on Polarr anymore. However, this last time I opened the app it seems like pretty much everything is premium now. From what I can tell even the simplest editing tools are unusable. There’s no reason for me to even stick around and I really have no desire to pay to get any of it back. It’s worthless now. ✓ Don’t like it anymoreI use to love this app was worth downloading but with the new update I feel so out of place and it’s annoying! On the old version you were able to use face detector on a photo that didn’t have a face and still smooth out areas. On this version it will not let you. ✓ This app makes you pay for everything now.In order to use some of the effects and filters you have to pay a subscription when almost everything on this app used to be free. It would be one thing if it was a one time only purchase, but now you have to go through a monthly subscription paywall which is insane to me. This app used to be so fun when everything was free and you could make cool edits with it but now most of the tools used for editing are “locked” and require a subscription and you can only import more than 3 filters at a time without a popup from the app saying “only 3 filters allowed you need to upgrade to be able to use more”. You also have to upgrade to be able to use the “liked filters” feature and most editing effects/features on the app are locked. Most things on this app now require a subscription which is unfair to now have everything hidden where you can’t even use it..Version: 6.6.9

✓ Don’t update!I’ve used this app for around a year and it used to be fantastic until they updated it to the new look and now I can’t do half of the things that I could before. For example, I used to use this app (before the terrible update) for its amazing gradients and then using the brush on part of the photo that I didn’t want the gradient to be on (Ie, I’ll have the gradient in the background, but have stuff in the foreground that doesn’t have the gradient on it) but I can’t do that at all now. Every time you add a gradient and then use the brush tool to brush out what you don’t want the gradient to be on in the image, it still adds the gradient on it. You weirdly can’t change the brush size or strength like you could before either. They’ve basically made the app look nicer (which, I’ll give them credit as it does), but because of it, they’ve taken out stuff for me that was super important and because of it, it’s looking like I’ll have to unsubscribe from paying for an app that in all honesty (as it is now) isn’t worth my money. It’s such a shame as it was brilliant before as well. Another negative is that I’ve emailed twice trying to get a reply about the issue I’m having and am still waiting for a reply. Unless this is updated soon, it looks like I’ll have to find an alternative app for what I need unfortunately..Version: 6.0.9
✓ ShameUnfortunately the app has fallen victim to greed like so many other developers in the past couple of years. If it wasn’t bad enough that they abused in-app purchases, then moved to the dreaded subscription model for a product/service that it doesn’t even make sense to have one for, they’ve been chipping away at features that have long been included, and putting them behind a paywall in order to try and strong arm you into getting a subscription. The app is now borderline useless unless you pay for a subscription, where as before you could edit a picture completely and only need to pay if you wanted more advanced features. It’s a really shameful and disgraceful act to see the greed of these companies always getting in the way of user experience. ✓ Update is just badI’ve used polarr for a while and it was my favorite app for filters when i can’t use psd, but this update is terrible. the design is not only a sore on the eye because it looks like every other editing app now, but it takes more steps to do simplest tasks. i don’t want to have to open a new tab EVERY time i want to use a different tool. i also can’t pinch the image to make it smaller for a better viewpoint, which is upsetting. and back to the new style visually, not being able to change the color of the background is highly problematic seeing as most of my content is black and i can’t differentiate the background from my photos, as well as the fact that i have other difficulties using the app with the background being black. honestly, don’t even try to fix the update with a new one, just go back to how it used to be. and stop throwing the “upgrade to pro” in our faces every time we open at app, it’s annoying and i’m on the verge of deleting the app—and so are all of my editor friends who use it..Version: 6.0.9

✓ Glitches ??It keeps putting a border of size 1 onto my photos, even when it isn’t apart of the filter. i keep making duplicates of the same filter; removing the border and saving it as a new filter. i apply the ‘new’ filter, yet it continues to layer a small border which is extremely annoying. also, if the photo is not a square shape (a bit more thin), it automatically puts a background of a dark blue-ish colour or just the colour most relevant in the photo. what’s up with this border thing?! please fix this! my friend experiences the same problem and showed me a screenshot of a blue background. EDIT: came across another problem. i go to edit a photo which already has another filter on it but isn’t officially saved (has the pencil icon on it) and it ZOOMS UP ON THE FACE IN THE PHOTO. it crops itself to ONLY the face. so, right now, my polarr gallery is a mess with weird coloured backgrounds and close-ups of people’s faces..Version: 5.9.8

It used to be my go-to app for any editing, in fact I used it to create college work, but thanks a lot developers, now I have nothing. ✓ Pricing has me concernedThe ubiquity of the new pricing model has me a bit concerned. Before subscriptions, you could at most pay $4.99 outright for an app like this. Now we are asked to rent the app $36 a year or $24 a year if you pay for a year. Even if you paid 5 in-app purchases for $1.99 when using the earlier model, you are still only spending $15 for owning the app out-right. If you plan to use the app for 3 years, you pay $72 to rent. That is 5 times the price and we are still only borrowing it. This subscription model is hard enough with movies and music, but to use this model for every app you purchase? I like trying different apps to see what developers are capable of offering. If I downloaded 30 apps a year using the subscription model, I can be expected to pay $720 a year - just to rent the apps. And that’s not including Mac apps. This is unadulterated greed. It’s a shame because this is a nice app and developers deserve to make a living, but not like this. Unfortunately, I now have to be very selective and I choose not to pay another subscription fee for filters. Maybe Apple’s next conference should be WWCC, a customer’s conference..Version: 5.0.1

✓ The update has ruined it.I used to love the app, it was my go-to photo editing software. Even if the old design was more desktop oriented, an IPad / Phone worked really well. The update brings a new UI, which is confusing and appears to remove many basic editing tools. The overlay tool is now useless as you cannot edit the overlay using eraser etc. The Apple Pencil now is not taken advantage of, I cannot find any brushes or other tools, and for some reason the app only works in portrait mode!? ✓ It’s about the $$$ already paidI already paid for this if I am not mistaken right after I got it when it came out or was on the APP Store. This is possibly another app that charges a one time fee for lifetime use of a pro version the goes to a subscription based service. If you are like me and have a bunch of hobbies and what not then use several to 30 or 50 apps to work and research or just view, it doesn’t take much to get a few hundred plus apps. It’s hard to keep up with who is change what when so you trust them to do the right thing and not cheat you. I am getting cheated left and right. I know I have paid for upgrades for this app for sure. I remember doing everything/pro version. I hit restore purchases and nothing. ✓ Hit and missThe filters in the app are amazing, but it’s so glitchy. Being asked to try the gradient tool after every second action, blurring photos and zooming in on photos all happen on a regular basis. The app will often freeze and you have to restart to get a response. I really do hope you can finally find a solution to these problems, an update will help for a bit but the glitches soon return. You can hardly do anything now without having to pay, which is utterly ridiculous and also downright discriminatory to those of us who are unable to afford polarr premium, which used to just allow a premium user to use extra features like gradients and batch-saving, but which now includes 90% of the app's features. ✓ Don’t bother.This app has declined incredibly and it’s not even worth its occult following anymore, I spent years on this app creating things for a following- now I can’t even use the filters I’ve been making and using for years without paying. ✓ Love the options but stop the upgrade ads!!I really enjoyed using this app, it’s actually become my go-to editing app along side one other. I don’t even use the Pro features and my pics look awesome. But now I can’t even save my non-pro image without an ad coming up for me to either “Upgrade” or “Try Pro Features”. To get out of the ad (because there is no “X” button) I click “Upgrade” and it takes me to a page with options and prices. I can then click “X” out of that, but when I try to save my picture again it tells me I’m using Pro features and I cannot save the image without upgrading. It was a little annoying at first but now I legit cannot save ANYTHING. And I haven’t used a single Pro feature!! I’m so annoyed and irritated. ✓ New Update is AwfulPolarr was by far my favorite photo editing app in the market, and I was happy to upgrade to Pro. The UI design was intelligent and intuitive. I used the app multiple times a week to edit photos for a small business I work for. I truly hate this new update. I don’t understand why Polarr changed the UI so dramatically and to such a poor design. The new UI is now very similar to most interfaces I’ve seen in the marketplace (including the editing software in Apple Photos), which not only removes a key differentiator of Polarr, it also leaves it feeling clunky. Why would I use Polarr if the design is similar to what already exists in Apple installed software? Or similar to another app on the marketplace? Not only is the layout of the editing capabilities now more obstructive, you can’t even rotate the screen! It’s very annoying to edit all my photos in a vertical view, rather than landscape. Maybe I’m just missing something? It’s rare that I leave reviews, especially negative ones, but there honestly isn’t anything I like in the new update. ✓ Gone Downhill, No Longer Worth ItI used to really love Polarr, I used it for years. Now, it’s clear that it has just become a money grab. I didn’t mind the stupid rule about only having 3 saved filters since I still had access to the ones I’d previously saved, it just meant I couldn’t save anymore. ✓ User interface doesn’t allow free toolsSo this is why people keep saying that they can’t use this app for free. I open a photo, apply a free filter, so far so good. Then if I want to adjust any of the free tools (i.e. exposure, saturation, brightness) the pop up asks me if I want to try the radial / gradient masking of the effects, which are pro tools. There’s no way to exit this pop up unless you click ‘try pro tools’ or ‘upgrade’. I click either just to close and nothing really happens- it doesnt show me a radial tool and you can just close the payment page. It just goes back to where I was editing. But for some reason, it thinks I’m using pro effects even though I’m not using any of them (all of their values are 0) and won’t let me export the photo because you only get 1 pro effect export. This is probably why people are saying there’s no free way to enjoy this app. Stop telling people that we are confused and please fix this UX dead-end that makes people confused. ✓ Recent updates have made my go to editor with multiple glitches, now unusablePolarr has been my go-to photo editing for several years. I’m a freelance digital artist, and after trying dozens of different apps, Polarr was the best. It had very specific abilities regarding layering images and the size/resolution abilities, which I can’t find anywhere else. Unfortunately, a few months ago, it started having more errors. It would freeze and close, sometimes losing any edits I’d made. It would open files as black boxes. These issues increased to the level it was hard to work. Their email customer service responds only after multiple emails, and the responses are copy/paste “please wait for a future update.” The most recent update changed the max resolution from 17”x17” to 13”x13”, so even if the now extremely frequent glitches are fixed, I have to reduce my size of my art by 20%. The app now, upon every single opening, says that “due to insufficient space, your recent edits will not be saved” and then reverts all of your edited photos back to their original form whenever you click on them. The app now needs you to buy premium or watch ads to save more than one photo a day. Premium is meant to include premium features, not gatekeeping basic functions. First they remove functionality like the Spot Healing tool for no reason. I can’t edit and save more than one photo in any one session without force closing and restarting, edits disappear and reappear at random, copying adjustments from one photo to another causes all of the previews in the photo selection screen to go haywire; really the list just goes on and on. However, over the past year or so, this app has drastically gone downhill. ✓ New update set up isn’t that great.I’ve used Polarr for a while and the set up was easy and efficient and didn’t get in the way of me seeing my project I was working on. But since the new update the set up had changed and it’s harder to see and navigate what I’m doing. ✓ Frustrating (Will Reevaluate Later)I’ve been using this app for YEARS and have never had a real issue with it. For the past five days, when I’m choosing a filter (and adjusting it and so on) it’s fine. It’s when I’m saving the image that’s the problem. As soon as I hit “save copy” it blacks out the screen for a couple seconds, then the screen is completely white for a couple more seconds, and then it resets to “open photos” & “use existing photo” and it just keeps happening every time I try to save it. Once I think I’ve fixed it on the one photo, I feel relieved, then it does the same exact thing for the next photo. Sometimes, I love this app. I can get really cute filters for my photos, and make my own. However, a lot of the time, it glitches out, and it’s the most annoying thing ever. A lot of the time, all the filters I have imported disappear, and I can’t access them for about an hour. Other times, the screen goes completely white, and then makes me open up photos again to reselect the photo I want to edit, but then the same thing repeats. ✓ The new paywall ruins the app..I understand developers need to make money and I agree that they should be getting paid for their hard work! However, suddenly locking features that were always free without a notification or warning is a huge backstab to your already existing community. I was always fine with certain features being locked, but now you can’t even add grain to an image without a subscription. At this point, what is the point of the the app being free if you just have to pay for all of its useful features? It’s just so disappointing because this was my go-to editing app..Version: 6.6.1
✓ The app became awful!I’ve been a user of Polarr app for very long time and several years, and i’m absolutely disappointed by what this app turned into! Just to save A PHOTO you have to WATCH A 30 SECONDS APP!! And for me it doesn’t even let me save anything as i don’t even get any ads! I’m very unsatisfied. By making these Premium upgrades, you ruined your app. Return good polarr without these awful features, and then i’ll give you a solid 5-star, as the app is good overall, if not the Premium features..Version: 6.8.2

✓ Used to be my favorite editing appPolarr used to be my favorite editing app to use. It has lots of features that you can use and you can truly customize your photos as much as you like... If you pay of course. Now half of the app is stuck behind a paywall, and you have to pay for basic features that comes for free on almost any other editing app you can find. I was already on the verge of deleting Polarr as I've been disappointed numerous times with this app. The app crashes multiple times, it takes a while for it to even load one photo, and now a paywall! I even lost a whole account and never got it back no matter how many times I emailed the Polarr team for help. This app has disappointed me as well as many other users. I am done using this app. You're better off using another editing app that actually has free features. I sincerely hope they remove the paywalls and do something else instead. There are many different ways to monetize an app and this is not one of them..Version: 6.6.0
✓ Used to love it- now uselessI used to use this app all the time to enhance all types of pictures. Tried to use it recently to find out you can’t save ANYTHING without paying for it. I paid for the Lite version which isn’t cheap and STILL cannot use 90% of the features without paying even more. Really not happy and will be deleting this permanently after having the app for 5 years. Will also be getting my money back. Useless now.Version: 6.8.14
