✓ UselessUseless application I downloaded just a few minutes ago tried to pay for the parking it give me all sort of error of the location and time so I move the car and tried again and was the same waited 15minutes and tried again it was the same so I had to pay with Coin after application took 10 dollars for this purpose so I don’t know what is the use of this application?.Version: 5.0
✓ I would give 0 stars if I couldI am bitter about this new parking system in general. But registration process is not intuitive, with confusing, out-dated user interface. If the new system is going to be so “upgraded” to automation, one suggestion would be to have scannable QR codes on each meter..Version: 8.0
✓ App needs a lot of work.The app was not well thought out. Please stop texting me every two minute my balance is low. ✓ Poorly developed app, company sells user dataCheck the privacy policy. Company claims they own all the data collected using their hardware and software (including this app) and that they “share” data with advertisers. Can’t believe our city sold our data, plus half the parking fees revenue, to this company. Our city claims they own all the data collected by this system, so either they are lying or they got duped. ✓ Continued garbageReally - there’s no easy way to increase the time on a spot after your time has started? And worse yet if you let it lapse one minute you get an error on the app and on the meter saying it’s already expired and there’s a ticket in the mail. Seems almost illegal….Version: 7.2

✓ Absurd amounts of bugsThe user experience on this app is abysmal - Everytime I try to look around the map for a spot it just sends me back to my location. There’s no submit button on spots when I click on them but then 30 seconds later is finally says something about maintenance. As a web developer I can’t even imagine releasing such an awful app. Take some notes from portlands parking app parkingkitty which is an actual functioning app. EDIT: I’ll give 1 more star because they did refund me my unused money from my trip out to Detroit - I can’t expound upon any improvements in functionality as I don’t live in Detroit; however, they claim the issues above have been fixed..Version: 7.3
✓ Horrible money trap!!I have not been to Royal oak in a while and now returning to see this automatic money grab! This app makes it difficult to renew your parking and then automatically gives you a violation even if you moved your car or added noney. What a Royal Joke?! ✓ Pure thievery…The app fails every single time. This seems like it was intentionally meant to rob users and cause them to get parking tickets. If you don’t stand next to the pay station for 10 minutes, your session will not activate. Save money and just pay directly at the terminal. This way you will not get a ticket and you can drive Sentry out of business. This company doesn’t deserve to exist both for robbing people..Version: 7.3
✓ Charged me, but gave me an errorI attempted to park using this app and was given an error that my card couldn’t be processed. I had to try again. ✓ Bad app and bad experience with the physical metersA local city has installed the sentry meters and it is a complete disaster. They are forcing cars to back into spots against traffic due to Michigan not having front plates. The meter’s user interface is so awful many people are getting tickets because they are so difficult to use. I thought the app may be the solution but it looks like it is from the 90’s and does not work well. I will no longer be visiting the city where these meters are in place so have no use for this app..Version: 7.4
✓ HORRIBLE app!!The app is SO BAD. And needs to be re-done from scratch ASAP. I have to log back in every single time I open it. It rejects my credit cards multiple times. ✓ Truly the worst parking systemWhere I live, every suburb has a different parking app and I can honestly say this is the worst system in every way. I’ve honestly stated to limit my trips to the area that uses sentry. It makes the city less safe for pedestrians and drivers alike and causes traffic backups. It also issues tickets for things like waiting in your car for 5 minutes while your spouse grabs coffee. Terrible, and I can only imagine, extremely expensive for the taxpayers. ✓ Garbage app, garbage parking metersNever make reviews but our city recently got these meters and it’s made parking terrible. The app is impossible to work with and glitchy and the parking meters ticket you even before your time is up. If you park in a spot but decide to take a different one, you get ticketed because the meters think you’re leaving without paying. It’s actually pretty impressive how such a terrible system is able to continue to be utilized in cities and convince cities to waste tax payers money to install these in their town..Version: 8.2
✓ Was a 5 star app until...The village I live in brought in these electronic meters. I got the app and found it very easy to use and it synced with my phone's GPS to get my location. Then greed interceded and now the company is going to charge $0.30 per payment transaction. So a $0.25 parking transaction will cost $0.55. I'd venture to say the majority of parking transactions in my village are short term requiring only $0.25. Instead of getting paid by the village they are collecting the funds for, they are hitting the consumer. I'll just start carrying more quarters in my car..Version: 2.9
✓ TerribleNot easy to use, was not clear that the “star” pinpoints your location to find your spot. Also is buggy and doesn’t update. I paid for my spot and it remained red. I refreshed a couple times and made sure it took my payment. Remained red and sure enough when I returned I was issued a ticket. What a joke..Version: 7.3
✓ Absolutely TerribleI stood on the street for approximately 10 minutes to load the app. It kept giving me error messages, and then required a minimum of five dollars. After I loaded the amount to my newly established account it would not recognize the account. I then attempted to pay via the cash meter. That would not work either. Hence, I lost five dollars. In the event I get a ticket I will be contacting you. I wish I could get my five dollars back. Extremely frustrating..Version: 8.4
✓ Horrible App which caused me to get a citation even though I paid to parkThis may be the worst parking app on the market. I was forced to utilize Sentry to park in Downtown Royal Oak. I downloaded the app, added in my license plate, and the parking spot location, paid to park (was charged $2.00) but I just received notice of a parking citation. The app does not even having parking history? I called the MPS customer service phone number but was sent to voicemail and have also sent out an email which I was informed would be addressed in 1 - 2 business days (we shall see). At this time I wish I could give this app zero stars but am forced to choose 1 star at minimum. I would like Sentry to address these issues, provide me with my parking history, and also correct the unjustified citation. I read a news article that there are many complaints about this app and can only hope that it is eliminated..Version: 7.6
✓ Does not issue ticketsThis is probably one of the worst developed apps I’ve seen in a really long time. Both myself and my partner have experience technical issues to different degrees. To try and avoid the technical issues of the app, I paid the meter itself. ✓ Needs some workWhen I first load the app I was presented with the EULA, pretty standard except that I couldn’t dismiss it no matter how many times I hit agree. It just kept popping back up. I had to force close the app, and it finally let me register for an account. It doesn’t support Sign-In with Apple or Google so I have yet another account I need to keep track of and just for parking. This isn’t really the apps fault, but I have a different app for nearly every city in the Detroit metro basically and needing to keep track of another account is an inconvenience. It looks like something from the first generation smartphones. It’s functional but the design needs work. Lastly, the reliance on cameras for parking enforcement makes me uncomfortable. As if there weren’t enough cameras, now there are hundreds or thousands of cameras doing license plate recognition with the data likely being stored far longer than necessary and potentially used for some purpose it’s users wouldn’t knowingly consent to..Version: 7.6
✓ BAD APPDon’t ever use this app! I used this app to pay for parking when I went to downtown Royal Oak and a week later I received a citation in the mail. I’m so confused because I paid for 3 hours of parking as stated on my receipt from sentry but I only stayed in the parking spot for an hour and a half so it makes no sense why I got a ticket in the mail. I don’t trust this shady app and those shady camera systems set up throughout royal oak because no one double checks their errors they just send out a citation in the mail. I do not have time to fight a $20 citation! For now on I’m only parking in the parking structures because the pay system is very easy and they don’t rely on cameras and a shady, unreliable app for proof of payment..Version: 8.3

It’s comically bad, as if the developers were challenged to create the ultimate example of what *not* to do when making a mobile application. ✓ Unable to use app, and issued a citation.I received a citation because I was in the spot that I was trying to pay for, and could not do so because the app would not pull up the spot’s number. Then I went to the station paid an hour and it only gave me 46 min, stating the spot was in use previously? I had been there less than 5 min trying to get the app to work. ✓ Constant error messageI’ve used this app twice. Or, at least tried to. The first time I couldn’t get anything to function and my friend ended up paying a different way. The second time I kept getting an ssl error message. I messed with it for 5 minutes before I got a text notification that my cc had been charged. However, the app showed no active sessions, and wanted me to pay again for the spot I just was charged for. In frustration I went to lunch and prayed I didn’t get towed. I will say their customer service rep was nice and took care of things very quickly. BUT, it was because I reached out, wanting to make sure that since I was charged it logged my parking session properly and I wasn’t going to get a ticket. It had not. ✓ Impressively Awful AppThis app caused me to get a parking ticket after I was forced to use it in Royal Oak, MI. When I first downloaded it, it was very glitchy with creating a new account. It implied that I needed to load money into my account when that was not the case. Despite these warnings, I set up my 2 hour parking after multiple tries. When my time was nearing expiration, I opened the app to extend my time. When trying to add time, every time I clicked the button, the app crashed. I was not able to renew in the app - This caused me to leave the dinner I was at and move my car to create a new session. I ended up moving my car 10 minutes late, and the next thing I know, a parking violation comes through. This app is very buggy and requires a ton of work. ✓ Illogical brandingThe app is called Sentry, but notifications refer to “MPS.” So when it says “MPS balance is low,” I search on my phone for “MPS.” Nothing shows up. Why wouldn’t the notifications say “Sentry balance is low”? Then there’s MPS as a brand name. Most people aren’t going to remember that MPS stands for Municipal Parking Service. Why not call it something like CityPark, StreetPark, ParkNow? Take a cue from ParkMobile. And this is all just the name — never mind the abysmal function of the app, parking meters, and technology..Version: 7.6
✓ Bad meters & appBetween the meter and the app it took me 30 minutes to pay for parking ridiculous The machine was jammed with quarters. The app didn’t find my spot properly at first then charged my card but didn’t start the time.
