✓ If you want to create anything under 4 minutes, this is the app for you.Don’t be fooled into subscribing to this app and think you’re going to be able to create a podcast. The app won’t open on my laptop. It won’t open my projects on my phone. The only way I can use it is on the actual website and even after I finish editing everything, it takes several hours to “mix” I was under the impression I was the one spending hours mixing my own podcast, evidently the system needs to as well and takes twice as I, a physical human being with minimal experience, take..Version: 2.3.2
✓ DON’T GET THE APP!!! REALLY BADThis review comes from someone who uses an iPad to make beats. When you first open the app, it flips the screen like how you normally use an iPhone. It isn’t too bad until you have a tablet with a keyboard attached to it. You could flip the screen until you create a new project. I feel like it isn’t necessary to fill in my personal information like my email and birthdate. I just want to enter the app and make beats. When making a beat, the app tends to lag and freeze up. I couldn’t save my project a couple of times when this happened and ended up losing my progress. The app needs to automatically save your progress instead of having to do it manually once in a while. It lacks the ability to edit your notes with a piano roll. The interface isn’t really user friendly like GarageBand. I found the volume throttle and tools like it difficult to turn it..Version: 2.4.0

✓ Needs a new user interface BADLYI’ve been using this app for a week or so now and I’ve been trying to work with the midi and the recording. And each time I try to work with it it messes up the midi completely. When I try to copy and paste it it puts notes like two Bars ahead, and then the note where it actually goes half a bar ahead, even though I put it right on the line. And they need a play back to the spot where you started button because right now all it has is where you play and then it keeps going. It doesn’t go back to where it belongs. it is the most annoying thing ever specially when you’re trying to record vocals at the same spot. I feel like Soundtrap is more for the Loop type people not for those who want actual talent in their songs. Maybe if they fix this it be great only reason why it’s a two stars is because of the microphone feature and their loops!.Version: 3.1.5

✓ Great app with bugsI’ve recently got this app and the whole app is great, so many beats, so much to do. The issue is, is there’s a few bugs. The main one right now, is I’ve upgraded to “Supreme” and when I go to use a beat I like, it says I need to upgrade and view the pricing options, even though I’m on the highest paid subscription there is. This is very frustrating. The other is that it is often slow and clunky, and sometimes crashes, giving you a white screen. Your song will save, so you’re not losing everything, but it’s just a little annoying. Overall, a great app but the subscription bug needs fixing asap..Version: 3.1.5
✓ Half goodSo I had to make a school project. All I had to do was play around with making beats. I started working, and sat at my computer for a while. I went to take a break, so I saved it, and when downstairs to read. But when I came back up, my Chromebook had turned off. No big deal! So I open Soundtrap up again. And when I tried to edit the track I already made, it doesn’t let me. So I think: “This is annoying, but I can always make a second track beneath it. But when I start making a second track, it sends it back to the beginning of the song, which is not where I want it. I move it back, but since I’m using beats, I edit it. This sends right back to, you guessed it, the beginning. Please allow for tracks to be edited and remove the fact that when you edit beat, it sends you to the beginning. Another problem I have is with recording my voice. Last year, I had to do a recording of myself speaking for school. But every time I record myself, it sounds really bad. I waste 3 DAYS trying to figure this out, and eventually realize that you got to edit the sound to Clean 1. No clue why they make the default static, but I guess someone thought they should. So all in all, Soundtrap (of course, not the app, because the app is terrible, never use it if you can use the desktop version) has ruined 1 school project, and wasted 1 hour and a half of volunteer time sitting at a compter, after working until 4pm. ✓ Good/Bad App!!!It has its ups and downs. I mostly use computer to make songs. It’s good for independent artists who don’t want to pay to much. I recently made a song titled “Feelings” but I can’t open the song inside of my IPhone. I am usually able to open my other songs I make songs on computer and publish with phone. ✓ Not too impressed.The computer version is wonderful! I love the computer version of Soundtrap, however, I’m not that impressed with the phone app. Basically it’s good for listening to songs and maybe contacting with collaboraters. But I found it complicated to try and work on a song on my phone with this thing... for starters (this is especially annoying when you’re collaborating with someone), you can’t see the name of your tracks when they’re in your song, it just shows an instrument. Most of all, it doesn’t like to let me move my tracks, and with the smaller tracks it wouldn’t let me make the tracks longer. Although I didn’t want to take too much time trying to figure it out... I don’t know. I wasn’t very impressed when I first downloaded it on my phone. I recommend working on your songs on the computer version of Soundtrap..Version: 2.4.2

✓ You can make a good song but it always breaks no matter whatSo me and a friend (they are doing most of the work) are creating an indie game, and we need a good soundtrack. We found this app and thought “hey, this might be a good app to make our soundtrack!” Turns out, the app was the hugest disappointment I have ever seen. It has generally good ratings, so we got it. Now on to the problem. When we started a soundtrack it was all going well. And then we open the song, and all of the notes on the piano roll are compressed down into a tiny ball of uneditable uselessness. We created a new project, very sad about the old one which broke beyond repair. THE SAME THING HAPPENED TO THIS ONE. And every soundtrack we made from there on except for like 2 got corrupted into the same little ball of disappointment. It’s great with so much potential, but this 1 tiny glitch ruins it all. ✓ Very disappointed!I had a subscription to FL studio mobile for a few months because I couldn’t get GarageBand (I’m on iOS 12) but I cancelled because I didn’t want to pay for it. I found soundtrap as the top alternative to fl studio and GarageBand, so I got the app but it won’t let me make songs and it just takes me back to my profile after it loads! I’m camping right now and the WiFi is kind of crappy and I’m on iOS 12, so if either on is a problem sorry for the mistake. The WiFi isn’t too bad because I can fix that later once I’m home, but if it’s the iOS, I’m kind of mad because this app says it requires iOS 8 or above. ✓ Nothing ever really worksThe app is amazing but my main gripe is the fact that, with the samples, if toy want to select a sample with an instrument, it never actually plays the audio for example, “Milky-Pad 2”. And several other samples like this NEVER play audio on my end, yet when listening to them in the sample menu works perfectly fine. Its really disappointing and also the fact that the only way to fix this kind of problem is to do the work on the computer is very inconvenient. Overall, this app works fine with other samples, but is still very glitchy and poor quality. ✓ It’s alright, definitely needs workI’ve been using Soundtrap for over 4 years, and I haven’t had much issue with the computer version. However, this app has broken so many times, with constant logging out, inability to scroll through instruments, and a noticeable audio playback difference (the computer plays the music through headphones differently than my phone and headphones seem to). If they can fix these issues and make it more usable, I’d really enjoy it more, but really at this point all I use it for is downloading anything I made on my computer onto my phone..Version: 3.0.3

When I saw the mobile version of Soundtrap I jumped on it…Until I realized it was kinda garbage- When I swipe it goes to too many things and it won’t let me do what I need it to do most of the time, for example; Extending the track swipes open some other thing and gets the editing area kinda crowded. The loops on this app are great tho, it would be nice if I could actually do stuff with them. I would NOT recommend this for Mobile but on a computer I absolutely do! The only big problem I have is the lack of ability to edit notes in midi regions in the mobile version. I’ve had to recreate accounts because after a little while I can’t get into my account anymore. “Login failed. Please try again.” Apparently there’s no way to fix this, and there’s no customer service and nothing online. This has happened 3 times and I’ve lost ALL of my music every time. WHY is there no customer service? When actually able to access my own account…Unless you’re using a MacBook, syncing is impossible, even when PERFECTLY in time with the metronome…each track is off from the previous one which is just ridiculous. ✓ Nothing LoadsI could have the best internet but if there is a sample of audio that isn’t midi… scratch that. The beats/drums, the midi, or even audio seems to be enough to just make a track stop playing randomly. Could you by chance make it so I can download the audio to the app so even if my internet isn’t straight up 100gb per second it can actually play the entire song I’m trying to listen to without freezing or just straight up stopping, also can we not open a project when I open the app every single time. Atleast make it a setting to pick which the person prefers. Another thing, why is it if I play a track then leave the app open for a while and come back, nothing plays at all. Not a huge deal breaker just super annoying having to close the app then exit out of the new project is forced me into and then I play 15 seconds of the track and it freezes then I have to start over. ✓ Limited yet needs workI do like the amount of instruments and other kinds of music pieces, but the main problem is that it’s very limited. I know you all want us to pay a subscription just to spend money, but maybe not limit everything but you can use ads to use the sound fonts. And if people want to buy all of the instruments together, maybe add a specific cost so that you guys can earn lots of cash. This is just a suggestion, you guys can probably do this, but if you don’t, I understand. The other problem is with the keyboard. When I use garage band, there’s an edit option where instead of recording the keyboard sound, you can add the notes in order instead. ✓ This app gets worse the longer I use it.I found soundtrap about a year ago and it seemed like a dream come true for a beginner to recording music, but at this point the app is basically useless to me and the desktop version is becoming frustrating as well. On mobile, you can’t use headphones - HEADPHONES. Which means you can’t actually listen to anything you’re doing (the iPhone’s built in speaker really doesn’t do anything justice), and you also can’t record anything or else you’ll be able to hear the track you’re recording over in your take. You can’t edit instruments, and you have to manually save constantly. The app also crashes all the time or fails to load things in. It needs serious help if it wants to keep its user base thriving on its technology. I don’t want to switch to anything else but I’m looking for alternatives at this point.Version: 3.1.3
✓ Disappointed, confused and feeling ripped offI got this app and began to enjoy it so much that I purchased the subscription so I could have more storage and download and use more loops. I started off with the $10 one and it still had a few loops that were not usable that I really wanted to use, when it gave me the "upgrade your subscription" button I clicked it and went ahead and upgraded to the $15 a month sub. I was excited to go back and get started but every time I click on the track I want it still tells me I need to upgrade but when I click on the "upgrade your subscription" button it now tells me "this is your current subscription. If its my current subscription why do I not have access? I am really disappointed because I finally found an app that I liked for music. ✓ Should go back to the old versionThis is a good app for beginners, I've been using soundtrap since 2017 and it’s always been good how it was, but this update has ruined everything. It isn’t appealing to the eye and its more studio focused than just play socially oriented now. I think that is what made soundtrap good and you minimalized the app pretty much. I wanna listen to my unfinished beats on the go and rewind or pause without going to the studio or restarting the song. If I can somehow go back to the previous version I would love to. I’m having a hard time even doing simple stuff like turning the volume down on a voice recording, or the reverb effect is OD. I turn off the effect & it’s still adding a weird echo to my recording. This part may not be their fault but I use a mic I plug into the computer to record and the delay is so annoying that I have to manually put the vocals in the right spot. The process of moving it is annoying because the software is just slow and acts like it doesn’t want to let me use it. ✓ Good system, bad appFor a couple years now I’ve been using Soundtrap and it’s both easy and convenient for making music, with tons of amazing loops to kickstart a project and good instruments. I have made lots of music over time, and I was hoping to be able to listen to the music I’ve made on my phone, and the app is absolutely horrible. There’s no way to sort/search through your songs, and when you have hundreds of projects, lots of which are unfinished, it gets incredibly annoying when you want to find a certain song or project. And when you want to use it for what they’re constantly shoving in your face, making music, everything is small, cramped and impossible to edit. ✓ Buggy Since Last Update (3.1.4)The biggest problem with the app currently is ever since the last update is I STILL can’t scroll across my time line without the instrument tab pulling out. It’s impossible to scroll to the left after you’ve scrolled to the right. And there’s only one tiny spot on your screen that allows you to scroll sideways properly and it’s very hard to find that sweet spot on my screen. Another thing is on the mobile app, you can’t edit MIDI notes that I am aware of. I could be wrong, but I have yet too find out how if you can. For me my projects save automatically, but the problem is, when I go back to listen to them, it’s only a messed up portion of it. But the project will be fine and just the way I put it. ✓ Crap.Saw the app advertised and thought I’d try it out. I should have done more research first, for one. I purchased the most expensive package, but didn’t realize that it was year-to-year. I’ve been trying to cancel and get my money back for three days, as it charged over $100. The customer service (Tin) I e-mailed back and fourth with this morning has been LESS than helpful. I don’t think English is their first language, based on their response wording. I’ve ultimately been instructed to “directly” contact Apple. ✓ Crashing and Bug fixesMy friend told me this was a great app to get so we could work together on music. ✓ Love the PC VersionI’ve made plenty of music using this system on my PC. The functionality on a mobile device is not great. Things sound good and you have all your options available (including premium like myself, you can use your account on both versions of course!) However when adding new instruments (seem to be a problem when you add more than 3 loops/tracks to a song) you can’t move that loop around. I had to close the app and go back in to gain the ability just to move the loops around. The pinpoint accuracy of touch screen with how small columns are, are way too sensitive. I’d try to move a loop to start at the 12 second mark instead of 9 and it would drag down to the other columns erasing progress on any other instruments and loops being used. Maybe I just need a giant tablet of a phone but on a smaller mobile device, this was infuriating to use..Version: 3.1.5

✓ Really good but …So I downloaded it recently and loved it. But I have an issue with logging in. I logged in with my email when I downloaded it and it all worked fine but I have been trying to log in this morning and it won’t let me. I just assumed it was my internet or my phone playing up so I turned my internet off and tried to use my data and it still didn’t work. I powered off my phone and that didn’t work either. It comes up with a note when u have entered your password. It says “Error logging in, try again”. I’ve checked that I’m typing in the right password and it still doesn’t work. ✓ One major problemI love this app, I’ve been using it for around 6 months now. I’ve made countless beats using the free version of the app. While the free version is great, I would really like to upgrade my subscription. My profile wouldn’t load when I tried to open the app so I freed up some storage space thinking it would help but it didn’t. ✓ Good DAW, but some serious problemsI use this app on my computer, so I thought I’d get the phone version. But it has some serious issues. The app makes me log on with my google account literally every time I open it, sometimes more than once. This is frustrating. The app also now is unable to play your songs while doing anything other than being on the app, which can limit ability to listen to them on the go. Additionally, the app continually fails to play audio, even after I close it and restart it. I enjoy using this DAW and would love to use it more on the go. ✓ Great website, terrible appI downloaded this app about a week ago and it was functional (mostly, let’s not get into the how distorted the recording is when you don’t use earbuds for some reason) for about two days. Ever since then, anytime I try to enter the studio I’m stuck on the loading screen forever. Troubleshooting didn’t help, the only way around it is using the website on your phone’s browser which completely defeats the purpose of the app. Also, the site on a computer makes every recording lag for some strange reason. The ONLY way to record is using wired earbuds or no headset at all on your phone’s web browser. ✓ Doesn’t work on my computerThis app could be great, unfortunately though, it’s not. I first tried using the desktop version on my laptop, to no avail. I usually use Garage Band on my iPad to edit vocals and got this program specifically so I could do that on my computer instead, but for some reason the desktop version refuses to use my microphone. I spent two hours going through my computer and Soundtrap settings, only to give up because of how frustrating it was. I guess technically it did connect, but I couldn’t get the volume up and it sounded very VERY muffled. So I decided to turn to the app. Thankfully, the app was able to acknowledge the microphone, but the app doesn’t carry the tools that I want to use and crashes VERY often. Also the whole point I got it was because I wanted to use my laptop. I had the grand idea to record on my iPad then edit on my computer, but even though I’m on the same account and use the paid version it won’t sync well between devices. Anyway, for my purposes this app/site has been very frustrating, but it does have some good things packed in. I’m sure it’s useful to many other people.Version: 2.4.2
