Livongo for Negative User Reviews

If you travel internationally, forget itI set it up a few weeks ago in Dallas. Everything seemed to work fine. I was surprised that it never required pairing up with my phone. Typically it is a BT connection. But this one has cellular connectivity. I traveled to India recently and the whole thing became same old offline BP monitors where you keep your own logs. It does not connect via cellular networks here (of course no data roaming LOL). It does not talk directly to my phone to save the readings. Food logging is down coz of no connectivity to their food database. There is no option to set it up as BT device. If there is some advice please let me know..Version: 8.5.1

No complete integration with appleHealthI have to download this app to use the scale. The appOnly syncsThe steps. The app also does not integrate or transfer data between Apple health or any other app for that matter. The scale that comes with the app only works with the app. The app does not transfer any nutrition. So there will always be a additional entries done by you to for example Apple health. It appears the app it’s a little bit antiquated but trying to look modern andAnd userFriendly. However, it would be more user-friendly if it would integrate into Apple health completely including nutrition, weight, steps,.Version: 7.1.0

Does Not Connect to MeterI got an email today saying that there was an app available. The email seemed to indicate that the data from the meter would be synced to the phone. This is not the case. The meter uploads the data and the phone downloads it. Which is absolutely useless. The only reason I even wanted an app was to be able to regularly upload the data from home (the meter does have service in our location). Unless and until the meter is capable of sending the data to my phone app via Bluetooth or whatever, this app is and will continue to be absolute garbage..Version: 4.0.5

????? What’s this effective for?I have a bad impression so far and it’s been about a month. I can track my heart rate using standard health app in my iPhone. I can track other things such as my weight without this app. I can list my food in this app but that is it. I have no idea what my calorie intake is or anything else. But I can read a whole lot about how my food affect me. Well, I can read about that anyways what I’d really like to do is be able to track what food I eat. So what does this provide that isn’t readily available anywhere and a whole lot better? I’m kind of disappointed. My employer has teamed up with Livongo for a fitness and health effort. I am not looking forward to whatever happens there. But I did get a free scale and a free blood pressure sleeve out of it. I am sure my company didn’t get those free ( obviously ). I sure hope the usefulness of this comes to light in the next several months. When I started using other apps for any given purpose, within a month, I knew whether it was going to be any good. This one I don’t see if it’s going to be any good. I am amazed at all the high ratings ..Version: 8.2.1

Not great...Every since the big app update I can’t order strips from my phone anymore, when I press order more strips it verifies my address, and then a screen pops up that just says “ok”, but it never actually puts the order thru. I have to go on the meter and press order strips to actually get them sent to me. I also really don’t care for the way the new app is set up. Some things are ok, but it’s doesn’t work well for me, and is very glitchy. I have an iPhone 8 so it’s not like I have an older model that could be causing problems....Version: 3.0.2

Doesn’t sync with apple healthWhile I received the meter free from my health insurance, the corresponding app is garbage. It says it will sync with apple health, but it really doesn’t. I take my blood glucose level at least 4 times a day. It is now December and the last time the app synced was September! If I go through the “settings “ to allow the connection, everything is configured correctly; both with this app and with apple health. Even this app has a hard time syncing with the meter; it will go weeks with out a sync..Version: 6.0.0

Kind of uselessI got this app to accompany the free Livongo scale I received through my insurance. I’ve been weighing myself side by side with my home scale and the livongo scale is never consistent, and regularly multiple pounds above my home scale. I can step on the livongo scale 3 times in a row and get three different weights. I certainly hope all you who got a free BG meter or BP cuff from livongo are seeing better accuracy, otherwise yikes. And for me all the app does right now is take my weight directly from the crappy scale. No connection with health kit, no manual input options. Just a weekly challenge that don’t always even apply to me anyway..Version: 3.3.2

Lacks the a pretty Critical FeatureThe app is fine with one massive exemption- no HealthKit integration. This isn’t a hard thing to do either, considering other apps I’ve used to track BG had HealthKit integration day one (and those are years old at this point). It would also be nice if you could update health info like weight in the app instead of being forced to log in to the website. That’s just a small want and not a criticism need like HealthKit integration though..Version: 2.3.3

It’s OK but app is very basic and glitchy with Apple Health & their CloudI signed up for Livongo primarily to have my daily FBS linked automatically to Apple Health, which tracks literally dozens of other health data for me. Over the past 3 months, this feature has worked twice, for only a few days each time. Livongo Support read from the their script but if you've already followed the Apple/Livongo online troubleshooting advice this doesn’t help at all. It seems that Livongo stops exporting after every Apple update, so this has been a chronic headache. Worse yet, when you delete and reinstall the app as instructed, you can then no longer sign in without changing your password or enrolling in Livongo again. These needless hassles signifies a poorly written/supported app. The app itself works fine but only with the meter. Mine fails to upload data for days at a time but a prompt reassures you that the data is saved on the meter locally. When the meter eventually connects, all “missing” data does show up in the Livongo cloud. I find the repetitious canned “coaching” popups annoying but this may motivate some folks. Bottom line: if your employer is paying for this, it’s probably worth a try - even if the external features don’t work consistently..Version: 8.5.0

Wildly inconsistent BP and Scale readings, wonky network, no supportThe scale will vary by up to 8 lbs in different readings within a few minutes. The bo meter is almost as bad. They only send a standard sized cuff and even though they imply that they can help with larger cuffs, customer service responds that they can't. Today, both the scale and the BP unit are stuck in the uploading progress indicator after multiple readings and it appears that they will just sit there until the batteries are drained. No integration with Apple health so you have to manually update entries. So it's all pretty lame..Version: 7.4.2

Not helpful for T1DMFull disclosure, I signed up for Livongo for the free test materials, but my insurance finally stopped being ridiculous and agreed to pay for the Contour Next strips, which made the Livongo gear unnecessary. That said. The app never lived up to my expectations and neither did the weird touchscreen meter. There are a lot of good ideas going on here, with features that allow you, for example, to log how you’re feeling when you enter a blood sugar. But overall, the whole thing seems very strongly geared toward type 2 diabetics, with the system being strongly focused on using lifestyle changes to improve health and no way to enter data about insulin dosages. My primary struggle is in trying to understand how to adjust my insulin, so this hasn’t been at all helpful for me personally..Version: 3.4.0

Behind the timesThis app is behind the times. It still does not upload source data to Health Kit and if it does, it is very sporadic and unreliable. This app cannot have every possibility but it can have: - Fasting -Hypo feeling -Hyper feeling -Nauseous -Fatigued -stressed -angry - nervous -traveling - is Eating out -Shopping - in pain. Right now, the app is too limited. Never mind this app is still using strips when much if the modern world is moving to no stick glucose monitoring, but at least offer some whistles and bells to make logs more full and effective. Can it offer a tentative A1C? Can’t it preload your prescribed insulin amounts instead of having to type them in each and every time? And, would it hurt to offer alcohol wipes, gauze and maybe a sharps bucket? If we have to stick ourselves, at least help us with all the supplies we need to do so. This reader is clunky and the bottles of strips are inappropriately big. This seems like a system Barney, Andy, Otis and Aunt Bea are using in Mayberry‼️ (The one star is because the program is free).Version: 3.0.4

The worst customer support ever if you run into major issuesMy device died for no reason and while the app and the device are good while it worked, the customer support is possibly the most incompetent I have worked with. They first sent a charger inspite of informing them that the charger works and the device won’t switch on. Then on hold twice for 30 minutes each and then being abruptly cut. I keep getting moved from one team to another and nobody seems to have a clue what to do. Emails escalations don’t work. Just terrible !.Version: 7.1.0

Need to Control Food Time-StampI like being able to automatically track BG. However, I would also enjoy the food tracking if I was able to control the entry for the time of a particular meal. Instead, the app enters a non-editable time-stamp at the time of entry. Often I am unable to enter the time of the meal at the time it’s consumed. This history is significant and would be helpful but since it can’t accurately correspond to the actual time, the food tracker becomes meaningless..Version: 3.7.1

App cannot handle more than one deviceI originally had a Livongo scale which works well... I then got a Livongo BP monitor and after spending 30 minutes with tech support and asking REPEATEDLY if the app would handle more than one device per account, was told finally that it would not. I have to have a separate account (and e-mail address) for each device/account... Therefore, I get twice as many frivolous e-mails from Livongo and their “partners”... Also, I have to log in/out daily to use each device... More of a pain than a benefit.....Version: 3.7.5

Log-in problemsI deleted the app before and decided to use it again. So I tried logging in with my credentials that I actually saved on my phone after reinstalling the app — not working. So I decided to reset my password and the link successfully made me reset my password. I tried logging in again and the same error popped-in. So I reset my password again using a careful no extra space copy and paste method, successful reset, and the same error after logging in. I don’t know what else to do because obviously, I am using the correct email and password but always comes up with the same error about checking my email address or password. :( I guess I will have to delete the app again:(.Version: 3.7.5

Needs to be more user friendly.Needs to be more user friendly by making logs easy to download and share. At the doctors office, finally found where to share the logs, sent that to the doctor to find out they couldn’t use the link. Make a pdf version available for download through app. Need access to download full logs for a specific set is time lengths, 2 wks, 4 wks, 3 mo. Etc. Add voice log capability to the phone app as well. Why should the watch app get all the fun. Type 1 needs some cool stuff too..Version: 4.0.2

Almost okayThe app gets the readings from my meters, that part works perfectly well. It even can send glucose readings to the health app. It also will receive step count data from the health app. My biggest complaint is that it doesn’t share blood pressure data with the health app. With as well as the rest of the app functions, I really feel that this one thing warrants a 2-3 star deduction because it is such a glaring omission. How do you put out an app in which half of the functions work well with other apps and the other half not at all? Fix the bp interconnectivity and your app will warrant 4 stars. Interconnect the meal tracking and calorie intake and burned information and it would be a solid 5 stars..Version: 4.0.5

Connection to Apple Health in clunkyThe app seems to work fine but you’ll need to figure how get it to sync with Apple care. For me, I open the Livongo app after each draw. Then I have to go to the manage connections section in the app then shut down the app. Then reopen the app and go back to the manage connections section. That’s when I’ll see the sync time stamp was updated. I can then open the Apple Health app and see the data there. It’s a bit clunky and hopefully will be corrected on future updates..Version: 3.8.8

So Many Missing FeaturesThe app works fine, does not crash, but it does so little. Meal logging does not offer calorie or (more importantly) carb counting. It does not talk to Apple Health, so any other health apps I use do not benefit from shared information (and vice versa). No communication with Health means even though I wear Apple Watch, Livongo knows nothing of my calories burned, daily activity, etc. It’s just kind of... useless to me. I’m not sure how this is determined, but as a T1 diabetic, I was offered Livongo for weight loss, not Livongo for diabetes, so all this app does is track my weight (which again, cannot be shared with Apple Health or any other connected apps). So... why does this app exist?.Version: 3.8.9

Customer Service is BrutalI have used the app for 3 months & lost 15 pounds. The daily weigh-ins & food logging seem to be the most effective for weight loss. Both these things one could easily do without the app. My major complaint is the blood pressure monitor they sent me would never properly transmit data so I could track it in the app. I made repeated requests to Customer Service to exchange my defective unit for a working unit, but that wasn’t a transaction they were ever able to complete, and this inability made me question the effectiveness of their entire program. Seems like properly tracking, and maybe even lowering, blood pressure should be a primary goal here, but they’ve shown it’s not. Also, the ability to copy & paste inside the food log would have been nice..Version: 7.3.0

Printed report misses...get annoyed by tipsI appreciate that I can walk into my doctors office with a print out of my tracking, though he complains that the trending charts always come out black and are useless to him. He would like all the charts visible in the app to be available to him. As it is he’s taking notes from my phone. I also find the little tips sort of annoying. Condescending? I don't know exactly but I roll my eyes when the app tells me that if I watch a funny movie I’ll “feel better”..Version: 3.1.1

Some frustrations with this appIt takes a long time for the food log to find foods if it finds them at all. Most of the time it’s “oops. Something went wrong”. Also I have trouble getting blood glucose to show until many days later and sometimes they never appear. It would be nice if it was organized in a way where you could record record food and on same page bg so you could see in one place how the food affected the bg..Version: 7.4.0

Better Apple Health Integration PleaseWhile I understand Livongo wants to be your "health hub," it would be very useful to be able to share more than steps, which Apple Health records just fine already. It is useful to have my Livongo infoerged with info that they do not record, but Apple Health does. If they can export steps, you know they could do it, but will they? Happy with the function and info display for my connected blood pressure monitor and scale, I just find it inconvenient to have different health metrics siloed in different apps. Please consider your customers - easy access to information is critical to better health as well....Version: 6.0.0
