BetterHelp - Therapy for Positive User Reviews

So glad I tried thisI've been a little too depressed to get out of my house, so this was a perfect way to start back in therapy. My first match wasn't a good fit at all, but after mustering up the courage to switch therapists, I got to pick one I thought fit me better. So far, I am loving her. She is everything I wanted her to be. I love that there are journal entries with the options to share them with your therapist. I love that you can message them at anytime! I like to send my thoughts as I'm struggling with them and then she gets back to me when she has the time, or saves it for the next session. This helps me get my feelings out in the moment without me just forgetting to bring it up in the next session. I'm a verbal processor so it also helps me in the moment so I don't hold it all in. My only complaint is that the app/website are pretty glitchy, but it's nothing I can't handle. I just wish it were a little better performing. Definitely worth a shot! Plus, I can decide if I want a chat, call, or video session which is super useful for days that I wasn't feeling like talking or getting ready! I communicate better by typing sometimes so I like that I have the option, and to keep it engaging, they have a live chat option so I can see what she's typing while waiting for her to send the message..Version: 13.6.7

Saved my lifeIf you aren’t ready for therapy yet even just attending one of the classes a day or per week isHUGELY helpful. The therapists are all well qualified, knowledgeable, diverse and experienced.Version: 13.1

Supportive, helpful and convenientI have had counselling throughout my life. BetterHelp has definitely helped me through my recent challenges. I was exactly matched to a therapist that suited me. Cost is the same as face to face, but you can also message your therapist and engage with the support tools as much as you like. I would prefer not paying a subscription monthly. Overall, if you are thinking about joining, do it!.Version: 12.11

Very helpful and beneficialI’m new to therapy and thought I’d give it a try. Firstly the BetterHelp app is very clear and easy to use. Once you’ve selected what you want to get from therapy then they match you with a professional therapist and you can schedule your appointments be it video or phone call at a time convenient to yourself. There is also a messaging system where you can message your therapist 24/7. Much more affordable than going down the traditional route of seeing a therapist in an office (I looked at both options prior to choosing BetterHelp) you can also change your therapist for whatever reason you want to. Definitely recommend 5*.Version: 13.4

Simply amazingI have been using better help for over a year now. First let me say that my therapist is the best one I’ve ever had. I’ve been seeing therapist since I was 14 years of age. I’ve had a therapist who forced me to exercise/calorie restriction at the age of 14. I’ve had another who didn’t see my mothers abuse. I’ve had others who just didn’t want to work with someone with my severity of issues. At some point I stopped going to therapy because it felt like rejection. It felt like no one could ever help me. I had seen ads about BetterHelp. I always put it off. However, my life began to flash before my eyes and I had enough. So I started BetterHelp when I was 21 years old. She is a black woman which is always such a rarity because trauma within the black community looks vastly different than trauma from other communities. Within the last year I’ve experienced great financial challenges and still am. I was almost homeless, lost my job, and my ESA had an emergency. I reached out to them because of these financial issues and they were able to provide me financial aid. Which has been really beneficial since I now get to continue therapy. I still am jobless and am trying to survive the best I can. However, with my therapist help I’ve still remained resilient. My therapist has been able to help me recognize a lot of abuse/trauma and has given me the tools to do better. She holds me accountable whilst also being kind and supportive. Thank you BetterHelp!.Version: 12.14

Personalized and professionalI love how personalized the matching process is. You complete a questionnaire about what you’re going to therapy for and what you’re looking for in a therapist. You can request a therapist who’s a woman, black, a member of the lgbtq community, Christian. If you specifically wants someone who specializes in substance abuse, sexual assault, grief. You can put that all in your assessment when you make your account. They also take your income into consideration when deciding your price per session. I’m only paying $85 a session which is amazing when you take into consideration how much you get. You get the live session once a week, there’s live group seminars about specific topics like “dealing with childhood trauma” They have like 40 group seminars a week that you can attend. I honestly can’t say enough good things about this app And you might be thinking the therapists on here can’t be that good. I’m matched with a therapist whose the best and most experienced therapist I’ve ever had. And if you don’t like your therapist you can just request a new one, it’s that easy Best therapist I’ve ever had, easiest therapy process I’ve ever had, and the least amount I’ve ever paid for a session. Couldn’t be happier 10/10 lol.Version: 12.10

My person sees me…I’m fascinated by the process of this app. So far I don’t think we’ve had a video session without technical glitches. But I feel so seen by my therapist. And I love that some suggestions for homework are provided. That’s my jam! Give me tools to use..Version: 13.4

Absolutely Amazing!I’ve just finished my trial week and I’m so excited about starting fulltime with BH. I got to choose the therapist that I beet connnexted with, and she has already been a huge help in my life, guiding me with no feelings of being judged or looked down on. Affordable, great app, amazing customer care! 5 stars !.Version: 8.2

Highly recommendI went back and forth for a while debating whether to use BetterHelp. Like any good, real, professional therapy, it’s a hefty cost. I unfortunately waited until I was total rock bottom before signing up. I have been so lucky to be matched with the perfect therapist. My original therapist “match” wasn’t a good fit, but changing was super easy and I’m really glad I did. Traditional in person therapy is definitely more expensive and also hits on the social nerves—I don’t want to drive all the way to a therapist and then socialize in person. I’ve requested only chatting with my therapist through the messenger and she’s catered to that for me! Others have mentioned—this is a LOT of work emotionally and mentally. But I’m starting to like myself so much more than I ever have in my life. I’m learning how to beat back those thoughts that turn into feelings and ultimately are so self-destructive. If you’re considering BetterHelp and have the financial means to do it, stop hesitating and go for it! If you’re struggling financially, they do have financial aid options or discounts based on “where you heard about BetterHelp”. You can get so much out of this app if you’re willing to put the work in..Version: 11.5

Very ImpressedThis app and service has really been great. It’s helping me a lot, and there are lots of different ways to speak to your mental health professional which is amazing. The app is super easy to use and I love that you can just message your therapist whenever you need too. Overall it is a great experience so far and very impressed. I did not expect it to be this good and helpful when I first signed up..Version: 9.7

Incredible app and team 💜As far as accessibility and affordability this app is a really wonderful answer to people like myself who are in non metropolitan areas and also living abroad during this crazy time. I have had to email Better Help after a Therapist didn’t show up to a session and they were extremely helpful and kind and did everything they could to rectify the money and also make sure I was okay. I felt like they genuinely cared. Although I’m still finding a suitable therapist I think as a service they are doing wonderful things..Version: 11.7

The remote access to therapy is great but the app is buggyThe service is great. My therapist is awesome. There are just some things that need fixing in the app: 1) better load management, at peak times the system is struggling with load on the mobile app. Recommend scaling the environment to support streaming content. 2) ability to multi-task, when you’re on a call with your therapist you may wish to also share images etc through the session window. However calls do not allow you to access the full session window. 3) quicker response times to actions. If my therapist (who is in PCT timezone) schedules a call it takes two to three tries before the call shows up on my side in Australia through the app. 4) it would be good if the developers could look to something like how webex handles bookings to allow patients to open and join the booking and wait for their therapist in lieu of the push mechanism that exists now where users have to wait for their therapist to open the call for the pop up to show for you to join. Because of the lag in showing up these pop ups to patients, both patients and therapists are not sure if the session is going ahead. 5) ability to be logged into the app from multiple devices (it kicks you out if you try to login elsewhere) enabling multiple sessions for a user would also help with point 2. I could probably think of more. Happy to provide advice to the development team. Otherwise I love the service itself..Version: 12.3

Become a better you.I’ve had a rough go at life, and have broken down over the years. I’ve been down some dark roads, which led me into feeling helpless and alone. I’ve hit a point in my life, where I felt the one thing that kept me going was actually hurting me. I was defeated. I had no hope. But after finding out about BetterHelp, and getting told by so many people to talk to someone, I decided that this was the time for me. At BetterHelp, I found an amazing therapist, and realized I wasn’t crazy, I was just in need of some professional advice. After talking with my therapist, I can gladly recommend this outlet, not just as an outlet - but as an answer. Talking to a licensed professional, isn’t just an ad or a joke to me anymore. It’s become a viable option, just as much as it’s become the best place for me to learn how to become a better me. It’s helped me greatly, and if you’re reading this wondering if it’s worth the money, then it can definitely help you too, to become a better you. Now I’m not saying that I’m the best me that I can be. I’m just saying that I’m better. Better with the help, than I was without it. So do yourself a favor and cease the day, take a few minutes to try it out, give it and you a chance. Then you can seize it..Version: 9.9

Great app and serviceI’ve only been using BetterHelp for a few weeks but it’s honestly the best service when it comes to therapy that is easily accessible 24/7 and affordable for what you get in the subscription. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is wanting to start their mental health journey but isn’t sure where to go or whether to do it the old fashioned way or through BetterHelp. BetterHelp is available to you 24/7, you get your therapist assigned very quickly (24-48 hours after registering), they have plans for students and low income situations and you can change your therapist if you’re not happy with the one that’s been assigned to you. The daily journal feature is especially helpful for me because I can write my thoughts down about my day and how I’m feeling or answer a promo question that you get as an alternative..Version: 12.12

Better Help Talk TherapyI did a lot of research before signing up for this program. I had my first phone session today with my therapist, and I couldn't be more pleased. In this day and age, going to visit a therapist in person sometimes can be very hard to schedule. Better Help allows me to be home, or wherever my phone is to have a session. It's very convenient!! The app also has more than just traditional talk therapy... There is a place to do an online journal (which can be private or you can share with your therapist), and there are group sessions based on many different "issues" someone might face. There is a monthly fee for this service - just like you would have to pay for traditional therapy. I don't think that it's too terrible... But you expect to pay for good or services you receive. I'm very pleased with Better Help. Their therapists are all certified, everything you'd want to know about their credentials is located in their biography. If you aren't happy with the one they assign you, you can change. It's a good program. I'm very excited to see where this journey is going to take me!! Better Help is so far a huge help to me!!! You'll get out of it what you put in. If you need therapy, go ahead and take the plunge!!! You won't regret it!!!.Version: 11.7

Highly recommendI highly recommend this service if you are like me, who lives in a non English speaking country. The sessions are on time, helpful, supportive and easily accessible. I can speak from anywhere and choice the time that suits me. Whilst it isn’t face to face I have still managed to feel connected to the person in the line with me..Version: 13.4

Brilliant serviceI have found this service so so helpful and thanks to my therapist have made so much progress. I love the ease of using the app, and being able to decide how I want to communicate with my therapist and being able to send a message to her if I feel I am struggling or need some input and don’t have a session imminently. My therapist Sian has been brilliant at responding quickly, talking out my issues with me and making me feel heard. I’ve learned some new ways in which I can deal with my concerns and in addition have begun to change my internal dialogue. It’s not an overnight process, and by no means does it mean that I won’t need to come back and use the service in future, but I think that’s what is so great about it - the ease with which good quality help can be accessed..Version: 12.3

Erin is the bestMy therapist, though I’ve only known her a short while, has helped tremendously. It’s good to know someone’s there during my hardest of times. Truly a professional who is great at her job..Version: 12.11

Great app, really helped me out of some sticky situationsAfter a few tries I found the right therapist for me, she helped me massively when I was going through a really rough time. She was very considerate and put extra effort in to hop on a call with me when things were rough and I felt so much better afterwards. Really turns your mood around and empowers you to take autonomy and be assertive with your thoughts. If you go through some dark patches and need to learn how to control your thoughts and your emotions would definitely recommend. But like I say it took a few attempts to find the therapist I clicked with so be patient and if you’re not feeling one then there’s lots to choose from!.Version: 9.9

Highly recommendedI was a bit unsure and scared at the start but am so happy I finally stopped ignoring the BetterHelp ads in my facebook and took a positive leap forward to talking to someone, being vulnerable, opening up and taking positive steps forward in my life..Version: 12.12

Helpful!I love the journal feature and I found a great therapist. BetterHelp’s features for what you need from a therapist and the therapist finding you was helpful and I think it perfectly matched me. The only thing is that the cost is not always necessarily “less” than other options you may have (that may also be online therapy at least). They do, however also have financial aid options! In terms of being able to write a journal, sending messages and having as many call/video sessions as you’d like in a month (according to your and your therapist’s availability), yes it is more affordable. However, if you only have one video call a month, and journals + messaging isn’t as effective for you, it isn’t less affordable than some of the other options out there. That is kind of sad for me since I really love my therapist so far and would love to stay, and I imagine if you get attached to your therapist and then have to move on for financial reasons it can be hard. If, however, you use the journals/messaging often, and/or you try to have two or three sessions with your therapist, it does balance out the cost better if you’re on a budget! Overall I’ve been having a good experience with BetterHelp and my therapist on here!.Version: 11.7

Best therapist and serviceI live in Canada and here it was hard to find a therapist and even after all the overwhelming process I couldn’t find anyone that I feel comfortable with! I was about to give up on therapy until I tried this up. I never felt heard by a therapist as much as with the therapist that I’m currently seeing on BetterHelp. I had some problems and the costumer service helped right away and went above and beyond, was really happy of the solution they offered to help me solve the issue. It’s not about which degree your therapist have or which university they graduated from. It’s about how they treat you and not only listen to you but also to help you listen to your own voice that you somehow wasn’t able to hear your own voice before. At the end will recommend it to everyone who given up on therapy because of bad experiences in the past. Thank you Betterhelp Team for making this possible..Version: 12.9

I love itI have severe anxiety and find it difficult to talk to someone one-on-one. Finally, I decided to try Better Help. It's a comfortable platform for me because even though I don't know the person I don't have to be stuck in a room with them. I was afraid of getting an unsympathetic counsellor but I got a great counsellor who I trust. The money is not a big issue because it's what I would pay for therapy sessions anyways. I recommend to anyone looking for an alternative to therapy, it can also be good for people with busy schedules..Version: 3.6

Amazing!Mens mental health is important in these times. The sooner you invest your time to get mental right, you life will follow!.Version: 12.3

Love My CounselorI know some people have had issues with counselor hopping or finding someone they connect with but I guess I got lucky. My counselor, Hope, is the first and only counselor I’ve had on the app. She’s one of the best therapists I’ve ever had, and I’ve had quite a few. She’s great at listening and sometimes she does a LOT of listening lol but she always has some kind of insight and thought provoking conclusion. She also has a wonderfully warm and caring demeanor. At first, I was afraid that maybe she, like any counselor on a phone therapy app, was nice but too basic. How well can you really connect with someone over a phone? And if someone’s a truly great counselor, don’t they have their own practice or belong to some renowned center with “Healing” or “Lotus” in the name, NOT some phone app company? But Hope has shown me that good therapy doesn’t require a lot of psychobabble and crazy experimental techniques and devices (I’ve done Immersive Sound Parasympathetic Reconstructive Therapy and EMDR in the past). Sometimes just talking thru issues, processing them and gaining good insight while being reminded to make time for myself makes all the difference in the world. I feel like those other, pricier, “renowned” therapists were all about throwing their techniques at me and seeing if they helped me. Hope has this really bizarre approach of just actually helping me..Version: 9.9

-Great Service. Don’t Hesitate.Having waited for around 5 years for Therapy from the UK’s Phenomenal ‘ENVY OF THE WORLD’ National Health System, which is circulating advertisements, encouraging people to speak about their Mental Health, despite having no resources in place to listen, should someone wish to discuss their Mental Health. it was with an enormous amount of fortune that I came across BETTERHELP-THERAPY. What a find!!! Its comparatively inexpensive. There are an excellent selection of well-qualified therapists. Trust me when I say - you are not alone. BetterHelp - Therapy can be there for you in a matter of minutes if needed. Thank you BetterHelp, you came at a time for me when I was running out of road and I don’t want to speculate about where I would have ended up were it not for the support of Nina and BettterHelp-Therapy..Version: 13.4

CHANGED MY LIFEThe accessibility this service provides is 11\10. Been in and out of therapy my entire life (25 years) and I think I’ve finally found something that will stick long term and be super stable. Amazing connections, great diagnostics and the team at Better Help are super professional, private, open and SAFE. TYSM!! Great discounted prices for those of us who are financially unstable, experiencing hardship or what not. This service is available to EVERYONE, no matter who you are or where you’re from. AND cheers to Ariana Grande for the free month of sessions..Version: 12.5

Dynamic Platform with Caring CounselorI have been using Better Help for a month and I am loving it, and finding it highly helpful. Make no mistake, it is not without the hard work involved in healing, I’ve seen other comments say that it’s like ‘counseling lite,’ which I highly disagree with. This has been some of the most healthfully challenging counseling work I’ve done, and I see myself making progress while feeling fully supported. The platform does make it much easier to connect and communicate effectively. My counselor is easily the best matched counselor I’ve ever had, I feel that I’m learning so much from them and with them. The fact you can communicate in different ways, both scheduled and not, with your counselor has been so beneficial. I feel it helps to paint a best picture of where I’m coming from - I’ll send my counselor a journal I wrote or a meme that resonates deeply and that helps me to process things but also gives us an understanding of what to lean into in our scheduled sessions. The fact you can match a counselor with your identity and wants and needs is amazing - as a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and also being gender fluid, I’ve never felt my counselors understood me or cared about that aspect, but as soon as I met my Better Help counselor (also in the community) on our video chat, I felt understood and safe, like I could immediately open up. My only critique is that Better Help could be more cost effective - it’s rather expensive as a student..Version: 9.7

Great way to seek helpThere’s so much that works about the Better Help format, the flexibility, the gentle ease into counselling through online messaging, the choice and ability to find a person you click with, but the best thing is the genuine care of the counsellors and the support staff. Even when I had to cancel my subscription due to a move in time zone, they were so understanding, fast and supportive. Thank you all!.Version: 9.9

The bestHas been really helpful 🌹.Version: 9.10

Surpassed my expectationsI turned to BetterHelp out of desperation and didn’t expect much. I thought it was going to just be a money grabbing, faceless company that would be totally out of my reach as I’m on a low income. But, my experience has been nothing like that. They worked with me to find a payment plan I can afford. It’s not cheap, but it’s reasonable and I am happy to pay for a good service. I matched with my therapist straight away. He’s a really genuine, compassionate person who really wants to helps people. I feel listened to, respected as a person and feel safe to open up. I know therapy can be really tough, and sometimes it can take years of trying for it to really start to help, but whether you are at the beginning of your journey, or you’re thinking of trying again, I would recommend you give BetterHelp a go. Best wishes..Version: 12.12

Such a convenient and necessary approach to therapyTo be able to get out of bed (or stay there), reach for my laptop or phone and reach out to a therapist has been such welcome change to how therapy has been conducted in the past. Where therapy was limited to area, availability and time constraints - this solution has provided anyone with an internet connection to be able to get the support they need. I couldn’t recommend such a convenient application more, you’re no longer restricted with selecting the right therapist or having to factor in travel and upfront expenses per session. Connecting since the pandemic has become more of an online experience, and to grow with the times - to pivot and adapt - welcoming the positives like BetterHelp online therapy will help to embrace a different future in relation to mental health support. Ben - host of MenTell Health Podcast.Version: 12.12

Great appI’ve been using the BetterHelp app for a few weeks now and it’s been a great experience so far. I like that there are individual sessions as well as group therapy sessions on a wide range of issues so in between your individual sessions you can still access so much help. I would say that when filling in the initial questionnaire I did put that I wanted a female, therapist of colour etc. and was not matched to that initially. So to anyone new to the app, don’t feel like you have to “accept” the initial therapist offered if they don’t fit your specific criteria. You can decline them and search the directory for a therapist you feel is more suited to your needs..Version: 12.18

Helpful and amazing for busy peopleMy excuse to not get therapy was always that I’m too busy with work, I can’t take enough time off all the time and so on. But with the option of doing it via video call and due to location and time zone differences I can now do it from home later in the evening which is still daytime for my therapist. It really helps me find time for therapy. The video call option is almost like you are sitting across from your therapist anyway but additionally you can do it from your house where you feel comfortable and you don’t waste time travelling to and from the appointment. Can highly recommend. My therapist takes time to answer questions or qive advice between sessions as well..Version: 8.2

Surprisingly effective!Texting your counsellor is better than journaling because you get constructive feedback!💕.Version: 3.6

Love it except for when it crashesI’ve only had it about a week and I have already felt a huge change in my life since being paired with an online psychologist. I did notice however, after my payment when through I wasn’t able to log in for a couple of days. I uninstalled and it would work but then not work again the next day. So I’m constantly deleting and reinstalling the app. Not sure what’s happened since the first few days I’ve had it. Apart from that the actual app and it’s features are great. I especially enjoy the online journal which you can share with your counsellor with one click. Thanks :).Version: 9.6

DON’T PUT IT OFF ANY LONGER, START NOW!!!The hardest thing for many people is to get started. I put off finding a counselor for months until I finally joined. Right away I was glad I did. They make the process very easy. After you are paired with a counselor, which in my case took less than a day, you can begin having a text discussion in a secure chat where you can also send audible messages or file attachments and indicate whether or not what you are sending is Urgent. From there you can make your first appointment for an actual session. The sessions can be done through a text chat, audio only or video and are all live through their app or website. There’s a journal section where rotating topics are provided and you can choose whether or not to share your journal entry with your counselor. As for your counselor, you can switch easily within the app or online at anytime. They provide a written bio and reviews for your counselor that you can view before even having a conversation with them. The counselor that was assigned to me is great. I read her bio and reviews ahead of time so I knew what to expect and it’s been very accurate so far. Do yourself a favor and start working on yourself today!.Version: 11.7

I have tried therapy before but this, by far, has been the most helpful.I feel listened to and acknowledged. After every session I feel so much lighter. I also love how I can message or leave audio recordings whenever I feel the need to. Knowing there’s someone there to listen whenever I’m feeling low gives me a sense of peace..Version: 11.7

Better helpThis was a good solution to help me to deal with some of my behaviours. I got good advice and a listening and caring Counsellor. Try it yourself..Version: 9.7

Lucy RooneyI am so impressed with the whole service - Just talking with Lucy on my first session was truly wonderful. I feel understood and Lucy made me feel not alone and that there is light at the end of the tunnel (hope the tunnel isn’t too long 🙃). Lucy is sending though some homework - I am looking forward to completing the worksheets and striving to kick some goals with support from her. Thank you so much for your time today and I am looking forward to talking with you again xo.Version: 13.3

Wish I’d found this sooner 💖This type of therapy was made for people like me! I wish I’d found this years ago. I don’t have to drive to an appointment, don’t have to get dressed and ‘show up’, so my anxiety is controllable. Just a swipe on my iPad or phone and I’m in a session. The wide range of group topics are also a massive bonus, on top of the one on one sessions. I would challenge anyone to give it at least a week’s trial. Thank you, BetterHelp!!.Version: 12.12

There’s never been a better time for BetterHelpI have known for a long time that talking to a therapist or counselor is something that I needed in my life but I never knew where to start and worried that I wouldn’t be able to find the right one. I have a bad habit of not prioritizing self care but between the pandemic, the civil unrest in our country and my own work and family dynamics, I was at a breaking point and knew it would help to talk to someone. That’s when I made the decision to sign up for BetterHelp. After all, how could it hurt? In a matter of hours, I had already been matched with a therapist based on my specific needs. With just a few simple prompts, I began to unload my worries and frustrations and paint a picture of my life for her so that she could get to know me. Just the process of doing so was cathartic. And to have someone bear witness to your pain, who can validate what you feel and help you see how all the pieces are connected, has helped me better understand myself and learn how to move forward in a positive way. At a time when the world is feeling more disconnected than ever, having a licensed professional therapist at your fingertips is quite literally a life saver. If you’re struggling, know that you are not alone. Take the first step to toward healing. You deserve it..Version: 9.6

Better Help ReviewFirst session the Jeannie Rioche and she was wonderful, very insightful, she met me where I was at and helped me realise things about myself in the first session, I felt safe and secure, understood, and felt like the stress I had just melted away, she broke down the treatment plan for me and told me the process we are going to take to help me get better and become secure with my little self and my adult self. I feel extremely encouraged for the future ❤️☺️!.Version: 12.14

Support 24/7Counselling through the app has been such a great experience. Besides the option of video chatting, it’s also possible to message them at any time. There’s a real feeling of reaching the therapist whenever needed..Version: 5.0.1

A chance to turn it all around in a positive safe wayIf you need to see someone for mental health reasons, talking or seeing a therapist through this app can help put you on the path of recovery. I am incredibly grateful that I reached out, matched with a therapist that complimented my needs, and just from one session I can feel that I am on the right road. Please reach out if you need, this app can be the building block or foundation for a safer and healthier journey..Version: 12.11

Helpful and ProfessionalI was in a really dark place a while back and knew that I needed some help. At first I was sceptical to try a an app for therapy but once I met my therapist, I started to slowly feel better. Talking with someone who is familiar with your situation whenever your ready, whenever you really need someone to hear you, at almost any time of the day without having to go anywhere is something everyone needs. It does require a membership, but from what I’ve experienced I can tell you that it is worth it.Version: 12.11

BetterHelp AppI find the BetterHelp app to be very user friendly. It is packed with helpful resources and is very easy to navigate. The layout is very clean and straight forward and makes sense. I also like the helpful email and text reminders for upcoming appointments and suggestions for daily journal writings. Although the suggestions are not typically subjects that I would write about or are relative to my work with my therapist, I do like the reminders. Having options to communicate with my therapist via phone, text or video is also a big plus for me. The best part of the app that I found to be so impressive so far is that everything works. All the tabs, the links, texting and video connections. I’ve had zero issues thus far while using the app. Most of all. I LOVE working with the therapist that BetterHelp matched me up with. And, it was the first match. Lastly. I tried other online therapy services. For what I am looking for, both in the service as well as the therapist, BetterHelp far outshines the other apps and services that I tried. I’m very happy with my choice and would recommend BetterHelp to anyone who is looking for a quality therapist backed up by a quality app and service. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.Version: 12.5

Good app, good providers. After some minor teething issues finding the an appropriate counsellor (the first two ‘didn’t have reasonable knowledge of how to manger my issues’ and were ‘not registered to provide support for your country’), I found the perfect mental Heath provider. He gets me, understands my issues, and doing our weekly calls is able to read my facial expressions to the point where he “knows” what the issues are without me really saying them!! All in all, a great app and with the right provider- the right level of support!.Version: 9.10

Easy format to find helpThe apps layout and design is well thought out to allow you to receive help quickly and feel supported at all times. The chat section allows you to message or voice note your therapist at any time which is such a relief when you might need to get some support in between your scheduled sessions and allows your therapist to guide you in the moment- my therapist was incredibly quick at responding to me and providing me with supportive advice. You can view and book sessions easily and can access any worksheets your therapist has provided so you can come back to them and work through them in your own time. And a handy feature is it can send you text/ email reminders when you have a scheduled session or when your therapist has sent you a message. I feel very supported by my therapist and the app makes the whole process so much easier and transparent..Version: 12.12

Paired with a great psychologist efficientlyI've really enjoyed working with my BetterHelp psychologist so far and was paired with her very soon after signing up. I seek other help in person but when I can't get to a session in time with them, I know that I can always communicate with my BetterHelp psychologist. We've been communicating several times per week where I would normally see my therapists in person every month or 6 weeks. I really appreciate the regular support..Version: 9.3

Mean 👎The app works well. Makes it easy to get in contact with someone who is understanding and helpful. However, the fact that when it asked if I wanted to rate the app the only two options were: (rate the app) or (I don’t like the app) is MEAN For an app that connects with people in difficult places and is meant to show understanding of people with their different ways of being. Having only these two options is mean and incongruent It's like the app is saying that the only reason someone would not want to avoid rating the app is because they don’t like. This offers a very simplistic understanding of humans for an app that’s meant to supply understanding and empathy. Shame on whoever designed this. 👎.Version: 12.10

Life changingI genuinely believe this has helped so much. I’ve been waiting to write a review until I could see my own progress throughout everything and taking everything my therapist has said into consideration. I was a little skeptical at first, I decided to stick with the first person I came into contact with that had experience in fields that I struggled in. We have been following a program throughout our time together that works on a different technique each week, along with ones we’ve already talked about, and how it’s helped. I’ve been open minded to every suggestion, and following through with it. A lot of my problems, my whole life it seems, stemmed from the one thing we’ve been working on. I didn’t even realize it, and it has definitely changed the way I react to a situation, the prevention of it, the aftercare… etc. Very accommodating towards my schedule, the price isn’t outrageous for the help I’ve been receiving, if anything it’s better because you can choose your rates. Tbh though I would’ve paid anything to be a better person and feel better about myself. This app has helped me to do that and find someone that I can talk to that can actually help me. I have zero complaints and the work put in shows how much it has changed my daily life. I couldn’t be more grateful!.Version: 12.3

Keep tryingI’ve been through a few counsellors that didn’t work out but I’ve found one now that fits so much better and works well for me. I can message her whenever and she tries to check in once a day at least. It’s so easy to talk with her and be open and she’s gave me some CBT based work to do which has helped. I would totally recommend this for anyone who is thinking of seeking out professional help. I am a mental health professional myself and find it brilliant. You can use it at your own luxury, from the comfort of your home, whenever. Great for people like me with anxiety, I can type rather than face to face which I find anxiety provoking but there are multiple ways to communicate so you can find a way that best suits you!.Version: 9.10

Genuine compassionThe therapist I had was really genuine to me and understanding. Was great having someone who listens.Version: 12.11

First session went wellI was matched with a counsellor quite quickly and had a session scheduled for the same week. Just finished my first appointment and it was very helpful..Version: 9.10

A wonderful app and platformI became a part of the BetterHelp community when my previous therapist was no longer helpful in overcoming my issues and trauma and any therapists under my insurance that specialized in the areas I was looking help for weren’t available for months. My employer offers a discount and partnership with BetterHelp and I took the chance of online therapy. I was hesitant because I was used to traditional in person sessions but along with covid I knew that wasn’t likely to happen anytime soon. My therapists has done wonders for me and it’s not an exaggeration. She actually explains to me the psychology behind what’s happening in my mind and decision making along with hearing me out without judgment. I truly feel comfortable opening up to her and I can see her as a friend and not someone to be afraid of. I love that I can message her at anytime of the day because sometimes my anxiety can flare up and I don’t know what else to do but now I have her. I also enjoy the group webinars offered that provide more insight in addressing my issues. I highly recommend this platform to anyone who needs a trained, helpful professional to work through anything going on in your life. Whatever you pay is worth everything you get by being a member..Version: 9.9

Great so farI’ve only been using this for almost a month, but so far I can see that this is really helpful for me, and I always look forward to chatting with my councillor (I have amazing friends but I think having someone else who’s impartial/unbiased is really beneficial). It’s also a good price, I never thought I’d ever be able to afford anything like this, especially considering how much you can talk to your councillor and the calls/video calls also available if you wish. I use this mainly for helping to instill other work I’m doing on myself, working on my inner “traumas” and self esteem issues etc. Speaking to a councillor helps reiterate whether what I’m doing is working or not, and also is an outlet to speak to anything else that bothers me, or if I just need some positive motivation :).Version: 9.9

This is one tech / app that advances humans so far !!It soothes my soul to find that some of this digital bombardment we all wade thru . Made counseling and therapy so available . Imo one of the most important services every human being needs in their lives along the way . The personal insight one can gain is life changing . I got lucky and mesh well with my first therapist. But I Love knowing if I didn’t . It’s literally nothing to try another and another if one needs . I found that to be extremely important in my therapist. For me to gain the best outcome the mesh has to be on point . Setting up the first appointment was easier than I anticipated. Of course at first I procrastinated. This service made the first contact to my first session comfortable and stress free . Scheduling is also quick and painless . I’m a guy so I just do that right away . That works best for me . I feel like anyone who needs some help opening doors to your mind . This is it !! You can do the session from anywhere u like . No driving tho . But if you like sitting in your car . No problem do your session in the car . I love it !! As hard as therapy can be to even afford . Better help make’s access and affordable possible on a level I’ve never experienced before !! Thank you Ginna !!.Version: 13.1

Great counselling optionI’ve been using better help for about 2 months now and it has brought about such great healing in my life. The therapist I was matched with has helped with my mental health and helped me in learning to strengthen my mental health and understand the things that have happened to me and work through them. I’ve already recommended this to a few people specifically because it caters to people that prefer over the phone contact, it also allows for you warm up to the therapist before having face to face(video call) sessions. Time difference can be an issue but it has never effected my sessions and discussions too much. The discount offered also helps( if you are eligible) especially if your disposable income isn’t that large. I will continue to use for as long as I can 👍🏾..Version: 9.6

AppEasy to use, good reminders when session starts Video calls through phone went well too..Version: 12.14

Not your average therapyConvenient for time poor people especially stay at home mums! The access to be able to reach out whenever is needed is also very helpful and being able to choose a therapist based upon their profile allows for a higher chance of feeling better connected to the person you’re speaking with.Version: 12.5

Amazing ConceptMakes therapy so much more available. Very happy!.Version: 9.6

Sceptic turned happy userEvery other therapy I tried I found that I wasn’t getting the resources I needed, I didn’t feel listened too or even have the feeling of someone helping me work in a game plan for my goals or issues I’m seeing therapy for. I found the platform is pretty easy to used, you can add what you are looking for in a therapist. Try it before you make your own judgement it might just help, it’s been a positive influence personally.Version: 13.6.7

Awesome app!Easy to use.Version: 9.10

Portable HelpI will hold my hands up and be the first to say I thought joint this app was a stupid idea at first. I can no say with all confidence that it wasn’t, while I might have only had one session with my therapist the journal features where those entries are shared with them means that they can monitor how I’m doing while outside of the sessions. I’ve found the journaling feature extremely helpful for contextualising what’s going on and over coming things while also set things in a clearer more rational point of view. I would say to anyone who thinks “they can manage it on their own and don’t need help” to swollow their pride and just go speak to someone. Better Help offers a way to do this on terms and a system that suit you and provides you with all the tools you need to get help. I will say while it is 5/5 from me I do need to say the price is a lot and I wouldn’t say no to a cheaper student discount for better help..Version: 13.1

Fantastic serviceI find BetterHelp so easy to use! The app makes interacting with your therapist so easy! Love it.Version: 11.5

Great for everyoneReally helpful to have a non biased perspective on your life ! Everyone should try coz life is so much easier when you get the tools and the understanding to tackle big or small life challenges ! Made me understand so much more about my brain and how it works. Also lovely people and support is amazing..Version: 12.3

I’m ready for therapyThis is my first experience going to therapy/seeing a counselor. I’ve never looked down on the idea and was so happy for people that made the decision to do it. I put it off for a long time, because I “wasn’t ready to talk about my real feelings,” and “my problems are not that bad compared to others.” However, Since I wasn’t enjoying my life, I should have just forced myself to sign up right then. I am now to a place where I know I have the ability to make my life better and having a therapist easily available really helps me follow through with my small promises towards creating happiness. I love the convenience of this app. Making appointments is so easy. I love the journal section of this app - you have a thought, just type it in. No need to over think it. It also allows you to share sections with your therapist if it’s easier for you to write your thoughts and feelings out instead of verbally explain them. If you don’t connect with your therapist you can quickly and easily get matched with a new one. I have been recommending it to everyone that seems intrigued by the idea of therapy. If you’re reading this, it’s because you want to start feeling better about your life and you’re putting it off by getting lost in reviews. Take the first step and just sign up. If it really doesn’t work for you then you just cancel payment and delete it. At least you took the first step. ❤️.Version: 9.7

Great Resource!I have truly enjoyed my experience with BetterHelp. I suffer from anxiety and my insurance doesn’t cover your regular in person therapy sessions (which can cost $100-$200/ session). This app was a much more affordable route and I get to stay in the comfort of my own home. Which is great because the last therapist I tried was a 80-90 year old woman who loved to crank the heat in her house to the point where I thought I might pass out. But that’s besides the point. I will say that I requested a female therapist and was assigned an older gentleman. But I thought maybe it’s a sign that I’m meant to speak with this therapist, and I am so happy I gave him a chance! We have weekly hour-long calls and we can talk about anything and everything. He is never judgmental. He gives me worksheets to work on throughout the week and he can see when I complete them (so you get called out when you keep submitting them 10 minutes before the session.... oops!) but my favorite part is the goals section. The therapists sets some goal for you and you can move the tracker based off percentage of completion. That method speaks to me! I have recommended this to some friends and I would do the same to anyone in need of someone to talk to.Version: 9.6

Only wish I’d joined soonerI’d been putting off finding a therapist because I was sifting through local recommendations and not finding a good match. Then I joined BetterHelp, answered a few questions, and was paired with a fantastic therapist within minutes. That’s the most important part and BetterHelp nailed it. The platform itself is well-designed and strong at facilitating communication with your therapist. We’ve shared links, worksheets, documents and more. It’s also super-convenient having the secure chat and video sessions happen right on the page (for desktop/laptop) or right in the app (for phone). It can run a bit much if you’re used to twice-a-month sessions but I’ve found (that and my therapist has encouraged) once-a-week sessions are both better for my mental health and make me feel like I’m getting the most bang for my buck. You can even do more than that, plus chat anytime, if you feel you need it. For those who may be new to cognitive behavioral therapy, know that it can be daunting and you may not connect with your first therapist. BetterHelp makes it easy to get a new one if that’s the case—and you should never feel guilty about moving on. A good therapist will understand and want you with someone who is a better fit, too. With that said, the more you can come into this experience with an open mind and a healing spirit, the more you’ll get out of it. Just focus on your mental health and BetterHelp will be there to help with the rest..Version: 9.10

Better help patientIf you know that this app is not to be used as emergency services or you are considered suicidal they will tell you to seek help elsewhere. It’s a good app if you know this and also know what your diagnosis are and the type of therapy you need. This app is good for what it was designed to do which is provide counselling, they are not physiatrists they can’t diagnose you, or prescribe you medications you must know what therapy you need. If you are at the point where you know what counselling you need then this app is great for that..Version: 12.3

Very good experience so far :)My experience with BetterHelp has been amazing so far. I have only had two video therapy sessions so far with my therapist Tracey, but I have also been writing journal entries on the app and sharing them with her. I like the fact that the app reminds you every day to write a journal entry if you want to, and also allows you to either share your entries with your therapist or keep them private. Tracey always responds to me, validates my feelings, makes me feel heard and actively checks in on me. I feel like I have known her a lot longer than just two weeks. She is very warm, smiley and understanding. I have really liked talking to her on the sessions because she does not interrupt, she listens to whatever I have to say and it makes me feel good to get things off my chest without feeling judged. On the app you can also schedule your own therapy sessions, on dates and times that suit you and work around your life. It is very easy to use. I felt nervous to begin therapy but Tracey has already made me feel confident that therapy will help me :).Version: 12.18

Great appI had some personal issues and didn’t have time to go at therapist and spend much money as well , I matched with a therapist for USA and I live in Australia, I had to wake up early in the morning to had my sessions with her but is worth, I used the app for 2 months and really feel better and stronger to move on Great app if you don’t have time and money to spend !!!! Thanks to the BetterHelp team for the support 😊.Version: 11.5

Good, but not a replacement for face to face therapy if you’re dealing with an acute crisisI started using this during COVID as I couldn’t get to face to face therapy, and it’s been useful for me to address some longer term and less acute issues. It relies on you choosing to engage with your therapist though, and you may not hear back from them for a day or two, so it may not be the most helpful option if you are dealing with serious mental illness or a crisis situation. The app could be updated - the text box in your therapy “session” can be annoying to use as text isn’t always clearly visible (iphone 11), but it’s fine on a laptop or iPad..Version: 9.7

Excellent counsellorI was recommended Better Help by my daughter and it was a very useful way to find a good counsellor when you don’t know where to start. The counsellor I was allocated is really good and sessions have been easy to book and rearrange. My only issue with better help is that you are billed monthly and one month I was only able to book two sessions which meant each session turned out very expensive. I thought money would carry over if you had not used ‘credit’ but this is not the case. Also I have finished counselling and have not had confirmation that they will stop taking money from my account despite me emailing to confirm this. The email service is not good. As long as they now stop charging me this has been a very positive experience!.Version: 12.5

Worth the moneyListen. therapy is very daunting, not only bc you have to talk about sensitive subjects but because finding the right therapist can be a challenge. When I signed up for BH, it was my 3rd time trying therapy ( I stopped it for like 6 months). But this is your sign to not give up on yourself. Your mental and emotional and even spiritual (if you subscribe to a faith) well being are far more important than your physical. BetterHelp is nice bc you can switch therapists in no time, even when you’re matched with one, at no additional cost. You can also pick the different specialties you want in a therapist. I personally switched counselors around 3 times, in the span of 4 days because since it was close to Christmas, some had tight schedules, and I wanted to talk to someone sooner than they had available. Another therapist told me that she didn’t think she could provide me the best help I needed because it wasn’t as experienced in that specific area. Although it was disappointing to have to switch again, I was grateful that she let me know instead of just going along, and not really knowing what she was doing. Please do yourself a favor, and try it out. They have a few discounts for like low income, or students. Best wishes! :).Version: 11.7

Very usefulBetterHelp is such a wonderful app. Although my journey hasn’t been perfect at points I feel like BetterHelp has really helped deepen my understanding of myself. The therapists are lovely. They are there to listen to eveything you have to say and to support you in understanding yourself more. I feel able to talk out about all these problems in a safe environment. Unfortunately there was no direct fix for my problems or a cause of action because it is somewhat a cycle I have no control over but even so we managed to identify this and I am grateful to have spend the past month getting to speak about how I have been feeling and the challenges I have faced. I noticed that yes I keep seeking help but I maybe need to stop and realise that I am coping. BetterHelp is definitely somewhere I would look to go again if I ever needed more support. Thank you so much for making my time with yourselves so amazing!.Version: 13.1

The best thing I’ve ever done for my mental healthI’ve never written a review for an app before, but BetterHelp has improved my life (and mental health) so much that I just had to. I’ve struggled with anxiety, depression, eating disorders, and a whole host of familial issues for years, but the cost of long-term therapy has kept me from seeking consistent help. BetterHelp is insanely affordable compared to conventional therapy, and has worked better for my lifestyle and hectic schedule - I frequently travel abroad, and having my sessions by webchat or phone means I can keep seeing the same therapist wherever I am around the world. The message board lets me update my therapist between sessions, and I can have as many sessions as I feel I need. You can share as little or as much information with your therapist as you like, and the huge plus for me is not having to deal with the anxiety of physically going/attending therapy (something I really struggled with). It’s just a phone call or a live chat session in the comfort of my own home/wherever, and it makes a big difference. I’ve recommended this to all my family and friends who are dealing with mental health issues themselves, and I can’t recommend this enough in general. It took me such a long time to finally find the courage to admit I needed sustained help and to go out and get that help - BetterHelp makes it so much less terrifying and accessible..Version: 6.3

In the worst and hardest of timesI genuinely wonder sometimes if I’m in an actual comedy/tragedy sitcom with the way life has been going. I know everyone has their own issues to deal w/ & we feel utterly alone at times, but I really hit a low this year. I’ve lost almost everything over the course of the last 9/10 months & was just getting by on fumes. If I hadn’t found this therapist…I just had no one. She knows how to keep me grounded, how & when to stop my tangents & redirect my thoughts & point of view when I cannot do it for myself. It’s not just nice but necessary to have someone in your corner. Someone who can see things in another light & remind you what’s important and that you deserve happiness because everyone does if they’re genuinely just trying to be & do good. Life is really hard, harder for some than others. I’m still running in fumes, I still have like $100 to my name & a heavy heart, but I see more clearly what I have going for me and what I can actually control- and that is WEALTH. Therapy is good for w wry individual and if you’re sitting here reading this novel of a review- I’d say you’re ready to sign up lol if you don’t find the right fit right off the bat, you’ll know it- switch and find the right person & it will help you. Please trust me on this- what have you got to lose??.Version: 13.0

Excellent Therapist Solution in my pocketPerhaps I got lucky, I felt an easy connection with my therapist (I understand it’s easy to change if you prefer trying other people to help open you up and work with you, but I got lucky). Worksheets are excellent. Repeating them is an interesting process too! With the help of my councillor and my own attachment to the app which is intuitive, I feel I’ve gained a ton of insight and awareness. It’s early days and I’m feeling optimist that, while its challenging, I have someone to guide me through the process of finding more happiness and balance in my life. Highly recommend for everyone so we can all learn about how we can improve our life experiences together, and teach children skills to comunícate and enjoy life well. I couldn’t afford this service without the app, but I need this help, the worlds a better place if I’m happier and healthy, haha! Same goes for all of us. I wouldn’t be great at attending appointment only therapy either. I wouldn’t want to commit to a weekly therapist who is not available - when I FEEL I need to send a message, I can. When I want to do my worksheets, I can. It’s great! One comment/Suggestion ... enable sharing photos/videos/links as these are mediums which we all are influenced/inspired/affected by so could be easier to share and communicate even better issues/inspiring/depressing content. Finally... Thank you Better Help! Xx.Version: 9.6

Timely helpThis app has provided me with the help I needed to regain control. I love the ease of use and how easy it is to message and video/audio call. Would recommend this app to anyone needing a quality experience with well qualified counselors..Version: 9.7

It has saved meThank you so much BetterHelp, I have struggled for so long, here in the uk the mental health crisis means waiting lists are so incredibly long. I am a disabled student, and without divulging to much, due to severe past trauma I was really struggling, with little support network and my mental health making accessing some help a challenge ironically. I’ve been in therapy now for 4 weeks, I’ve been really lucky to connect really well with my therapist which has made my sessions feel much more accessible productive to me. The fact that I do have the ability to change therapist if this wasn’t the case though is brilliant, especially to someone already feeling anxious. My only slight con is the groups seem to be mostly American, which isn’t a problem in itself, but a lot of the ones that would benefit me are for me in the uk, on in the middle of the night as they are based in America. If all groups could be accessible at a reasonable time to all time zones this would be much better, as they are a great addition to supporting the healing journey. I really recommend anyone who is struggling sign up, they do have a financial aid option for those that are in hardship, this truly is a blessing for so many. Thank you BetterHelp 😊.Version: 12.11

Great service so far!Only been using it for about two going in three weeks and i really like it. How understanding my therapist seems to be to me so far, i feel comfortable telling her if i agree or dont agree with something or if i feel like something would/ working for me. I also like the customization aspect of choosing the right therapist for me. So many options, and if you find you dont like the therapist you can also change. Lastly with the few tools they have on betterhelp they are actually helpful (coming from a person who finds it extremely hard to find coping mechanism and ways to help myself. )I definitely recommend giving it a chance even if its just for a month. Its nice to have a therapist where i feel like i can message her whenever and would except a response within hours, 1 day at the max! Appointments a slightly easier to get and u can get them more often throught better help vs a hmo or other therapist offices, especially in this climate where its such a not really a back up of support and appointment availability’s at this time. This is a very honest review and i hope this helps at-least one person to even give the service a try.Version: 12.3

A Game ChangerI was matched with a therapist very quickly after completing my questionnaire and she has been absolutely amazing. I never thought talk therapy would work for me but after a couple of months I really look forward to it every week. I like you can message your therapist anytime, you have a journal which you can share with them, access to group therapy & resources and the option to either audio or video with your therapist when it’s convenient for you. I’ve not had to, but you can also change therapists if you’re not connecting well. If you’ve never tried talk therapy before or didn’t find it helpful/successful, I would give this a go..Version: 12.7

Great Service For People All Around The World 🌎I found out about BetterHelp via a YouTuber I watch. He spoke highly of his therapist & hope she had helped him so much. So not being able to see any therapist locally, due to long waiting times, I decided to give BetterHelp a go & I'm so so glad I did. It’s give me my life back & help me move forward & make healthy decisions for me & strengthen my boundaries. Thank you BetterHelp..Version: 12.18

Life changing decision to say “yes” to BetterHelpI have chosen to be in therapy here and there over the years, dealing with this or that, and finally a couple years ago really delving into a past trauma. Not until arriving at BetterHelp did I see this life-changing result of therapy. The platform is brilliant. The messaging space is incredibly helpful in this modern world. The ease of a video call once a week for 45min is something anyone can do. Even as a mother of two young children, I can ask for this and it can happen. There is a way. For anyone looking for help in any form, small or large, say “yes” for yourself and just show up. Keep showing up and amazing things will unfold for you and your life will be better. Your problems and challenges will get better. They will soften; they will lessen. I promise. Just keep showing up, for you. The rest will follow. If there is any suggestion I do have is find someone who just clicks with you, where it feels trusting and safe. It is an amazing space to enter every week. I thank my incredible therapist, Catherine Stormont, for always showing up for me as I continue to show up for myself. The “trust in the process” is here in this wonderful BetterHelp environment and I am very grateful for it. Very very grateful..Version: 12.12

Changed my lifeBetter help is the best counselling service I have ever had. I have had therapy before on two separate occasions and I struggled to find a therapist that I connected with. BetterHelp is amazing. You can read about different therapists styles, their experience and whether you would prefer a therapist of a certain age, gender, life experience etc to help you find a good fit. If it doesn’t feel right you just change to another. My therapist is wonderful and I am learning so much about myself and what I want in life and how I can help myself be better. Group therapy is also so valuable to sit and discuss topics with other people from around the world, share and gain insights. I can’t recommend BetterHelp enough!.Version: 12.14

Give it a chanceThis app might not work for everyone, but I do suggest before you give up on it, give it a full month. I had some difficulties finding my right match for my counsellor, but I found a good fit in this app. The support team is great and really works with you through the beginning month to make it worthwhile when you’re trying to find your counsellor. I really like their “groupinars” which are webinars about counselling topics. They are filled with great information and are really therapeutic knowing that the other people in the space have dealt with similar things. The counsellors have all different appointment times that can work with any schedule. This app can be expensive, but it is worth its weight in gold..Version: 9.10

It can be expensive but..I know it can be expensive, but better help will try and work with your budget. Additionally, taking the steps to ensure your mental health is at the top of its game requires real help… I’m just saying, considerate it..Version: 13.6.7

There’s always someone there.I’ve found this service incredibly helpful, really just an opportunity to express my thoughts on someone with no objectives. They’re not my best friend and they’re not my partner so the advice and guidance returned is non-bias and helps me with me..Version: 8.2

Great serviceWhile the time differences can be challenging at times it is nice and helpful to have a round the clock service including messaging, 1 life session per week, groupinars (online presentations) and guided journaling..Version: 11.5

A life saverSuch a fantastic way to receive counseling and support. Before this I was seeing a counselor once a week. Had to save it all for my allocated hour. Better help gives you frequent and responsive contact with your counselor as your life unfolds. I couldn’t rate it more highly!.Version: 8.2

Very goodI love that I can use a journaling service and message my counsellor whenever. This app/service is very convenient and easy to use. Some things I think could be improved are: - Being able to view available session times ahead of schedule. I would like to be able to schedule my sessions in clusters so I can schedule my life ahead of time and be able to see if other times pop up that work better for me. At the moment the app only allows you to see available times before you schedule your next session. - Weekly to-do list. So I can know what I need to work on for the week set by my counsellor. - Document portal where you can view all the documents/ help sheets that are sent to you. Otherwise, this service is great and much more time saving that going to a face to face session and all the info is right there at your finger tips. They tailor to your needs and choose a counsellor that aligns with your values and needs..Version: 9.7

Please Consider Using This AppI’ve used the traditional method of therapy in the past - the face to face kind. What I love about BetterHelp is that you can message anytime of the day, getting your thoughts and feelings written down, rather than waiting for an appointment. My therapist responds in a timely manner even though we are half a world away from each other. She was matched to me after I filled out a detailed questionnaire, which I also thought was great. She checks in with me if she hasn’t heard from me after a couple of days, and I feel like I have a confidante and a friend to help me through a difficult time in my life. My therapist outlined from the beginning that the answers needed to come from me, which subtle guidance from her. I was happy with that, and this form of therapy is helping me. The option is always there for me to change therapists if I feel it’s not being helpful, so I’d say really be honest with yourself about what you want out of a therapist..Version: 6.0.2

Very convenient and helpfulI’m loving better help! I love the journaling and the messages you can send to your therapist. Before better help I would forget to mention something during an appointment. With better help, during the week I can message my therapist the things I want to talk about or message them if I’m having a bad day to ask for help. It’s the best..Version: 12.3

It’s really helped so farI’ve been using the app & service for about a month & have found the counselling very helpful. You can text (very slow process) or video chat (preferable) but the video chats are at an extra cost depending on the plan you choose. The service is expensive, but it’s cheaper than traditional therapy sessions & I find it useful because I can do it from home at times that suit me & it’s less confronting for me than face to face therapy. I recommend the app & counselling service..Version: 7.0

Misled ReviewsBefore I decided to purchase the membership, I saw a lot of misleading reviews that concerned me about the quality of the app. Yes, it may be true about the trial membership not getting enough responses. You get what you ask for. Why would they want to waste their time on something you got for free? After purchasing and putting in some detail what I wanted to talk about, I got a match fairly quickly and the counselor was in my state. If you’re not putting in the needed detail, it will take longer for a match. They want to put you with someone who’s experience matches your needs. My counselor asked me a series of questions to start off with so she knows what I was going through. It lifted a huge weight off my chest after telling her everything. Then the questions stopped and she was able to respond with a summary. I was pleased it didn’t take her long to write back. I would highly recommend this app to anyone if you’re nervous about explaining sensitive topics in person, but you’re more open online. I was happy I could just message her when I needed to. Especially the journal which I was impressed with, I could load up negative thoughts and share it with her to find a better way of handling it..Version: 8.2

Great alternative to traditional counsellingFor anyone who has previously put off counselling due to time, travel or cost - BetterHelp is a fantastic option! Having the flexibility to schedule sessions as and when you feel you need them and being able to do these sessions from the comfort of your own home is really fantastic. I'm based in NZ and the cost of the sessions is far more affordable than if I were to go and see someone face to face. It's also nice to be able to prepare for a session through the messaging service before having a video session or to follow up from a session by clarifying information discussed (for example, the name of a resource). The only thing I would echo from what others have said below is that the time difference can be a little frustrating as it does appear to only have USA based counsellors at the moment - if there was a way to bring other nationalities on board that would be amazing. I also had a rocky start with my first assigned counsellor but customer service were very understanding and helped me to find another counsellor who has been absolutely brilliant. I would absolutely recommend this as an alternative to traditional face to face counselling..Version: 3.6

ExcellentCarrie my counsellor who I have phone sessions with weekly has been excellent and the who service with BetterHelp has been excellent. I’ve had a lot of counselling over the years and used various services but this by far is the best. I was perfectly matched with a counsellor who really understands my life issues. She has a great deal of professional and life experience in the areas I am concerned with and has been able to provide the right level of support and guidance. I have improved a lot while using this service. The app is also very easy to use and the price is very reasonable. Much cheaper than a therapist and provides so much more. Being able to message my counsellor at any time of the day has been good as well and knowing it’s someone I have a continuing sessions with means she understands the full picture and I don’t have to keep explaining all my issues to her every time we meet or I message. She responds in good time to my messages and writing things down to her has helped me understand my issues. This is also the case with the journaling session as well where you can journal privately or share it with your counsellor. I haven’t used the group therapy sessions yet but like the fact that it is also included in the monthly price. Would definitely recommend BetterHelp..Version: 8.2

Hard workI am not an easy person to counsel and I’m hard work but I’ve found Celeste amazing. She’s there for me when I’m at my lowest point and when no one else is. I’ve learnt so much about myself in the two months I’ve been working with her..Version: 6.3

Great option for someone with a busy work schedule trying to find the best fit for what they needThis has been a huge help with not only connecting with a high trained therapist but perfect for someone who doesn't have the time to make appts during regular office hours or hunt for the “right” therapist! It takes all the time, work and stress away from making any tough decisions and does it all for you. The app is so easy to navigate! You simply download the app, fill out a quick personal questionnaire and a bio if you so choose, and they match you with a therapist! And if you at any time feel the match isn’t right you able to makes changes when you so choose. The app (and your smart device) lets you know they’ve received your information and that they’re working on a match for you based on your personal needs. When you are given the therapist, you get a bio about them and their personal experience in all the categories, and get to freely message the therapist back and fourth through the app to set up a time that works for you and converse on any other things you might need to discuss! You also get options to get involved in group sessions and other opportunities to learn and grow. And lastly - you are able to get fantastic customer service with a live person with any questions or concerns you may have which has been so easy and helpful and quick in response! I’m very grateful for app and the people who work for this company!.Version: 13.0

TherapyI first saw the ad through Instagram, after a few random clicks and reviews I decided to give it a try. This is the first time I would be doing therapy and BetterHelp has made it very easy. The questions beforehand are simple and doesn’t feel like pressure answering them. The payment is also a great one where you pay every 4 weeks. After exploring both the app and the site which work really well and I haven’t had any tech issues I found out the patient can work on Journals. This is great for people who enjoy writing or need a minute to channel themselves. You can choose to write everyday and shuffle through each of the prompts. You also have the option of allowing your therapist to see your journal entries too which is up to the individual. The therapist that I was able to connect with was Lakiah Edwin-Bankston. After a few messages and a session with her I felt confident with myself. She is a great level-headed person that you can tell she enjoys her work. I plan on staying with her for as long as I can. I’m thankful I was able to be matched with her. Although sometimes when I do message her it takes 1-2 business days to get a reply she is able to help with what I have said..Version: 10.0

AwesomeGreat initiative it’s been helpful having the app I can write in diary and contact a therapist at any time.Version: 11.7

The Best Help!I started with BetterHelp two months ago. My therapist is supportive of my needs and my progress and always professional. I have gained a lot of confidence since starting with BetterHelp and would recommend it all. Give it a go, I’m sure like me you will be happy with the service and the support given. I give my therapist 5 out of 5. I honestly don’t know how I managed without her guidance and knowledge to aid in my journey of healing..Version: 12.18

So much more than just counsellingI love the versatility and multiple approaches of this service and app. In between online weekly sessions with my therapist, using journaling prompts and worksheets set by my therapist has really helped to move forward much faster. With personal messaging too, the tools all help to clarify some of my sticking points and the issues I want to delve into further, set personal targets both short and longer term, and to work through to what’s behind certain decisions or feelings. Lots of little wins along the way which is really positive; being in therapy can be really draining but BetterHelp offers a much wider approach that I personally find extremely useful, and great value for money compared to a weekly therapy session with all of the extras. The journal can be private or shared with your therapist, and it suggests prompts if you’re not sure what to write about. One of these was ‘describe how your ideal bedroom looks, smells and feels’. Not only did I write about it, I’ve now actually made practical changes to get it more organised, and to create a specific space for yoga - motivating and satisfying to make some real changes when I’ve been feeling very stuck and decidedly unmotivated recently..Version: 11.7

My therapyJan abbot has been so amazing over the last couple of months, I live on the other side of the world and she has still managed to make me feel like a whole new person. I would gladly recommend her to anybody going through tough times. I can’t thank her enough..Version: 12.3

GratefulBetterHelp has been a great tool for me and has helped me through some difficult times. Would recommend to anybody thinking of getting some counselling..Version: 13.0

Very helpfulWhen you find the right counsellor( and you don’t have to feel bad about changing) you’re in for a treat! I’ve been working for just for over a week and already I feel better than I have in years. This is something I’ve put off for a long time and I now regret it. The app is easy to use, safe and secure, and the varying ways you can contact your counsellor is amazing. Sometimes if you can’t bring yourself to talk, you text, or send a quick video..Version: 9.9

Don’t Put It Off ! 💜BetterHelp is probably one of the best things I decided to do for myself this past year. For years I didn’t attend therapy because I was worried about the cost, and worried about it not helping me due to trauma I already had about going in the first place (aka non consensual forced therapy) - I just wanted to leave an honest review that I really would recommend this app to anyone on the fence about therapy. I looooove its features, just like some other reviewers said I love that I can schedule sessions with my therapist as well as contact them whenever I may need to. The app also offers group sessions with different counselors in a wide variety of topics suited for each person and the classes change daily/weekly! It even has a built in journal which I’ve found to be really helpful. I have carpal tunnel so sometimes writing in a journal with pen and paper actually gets exhausting and painful and I can’t get my whole thoughts out, so the built in journal on the app actually really helps me and I’m able to share my thoughts with my therapist in just one easy click if I want to! If you are able to afford it, I highly recommend the app. It has been helping me a lot, my counselor was a perfect fit I feel as if they really pay attention to what you would like to work on. Happy Healing! (:.Version: 9.9

Pleasantly SurprisedThis app has been great for me since I live abroad but want to talk to a counselor in English. My counselor calls me (instead of the other way around), so I don’t have to use any of the international minutes on my phone plan. The option to chat online is also useful when other people are around and I don’t want them to overhear me talking on the phone. I got to pick my preferences when I signed up (topics the counselor has experience in, if I wanted a woman, a gay counselor, etc). Apparently some people have changed counselors because they didn’t click with the first person they were assigned, but the person I was assigned is perfect. I feel like my counselor understands me and gives me great advice without just asking “how does that make you feel” like they do in movies. I’ve had bad experiences with in-person counseling in the past, so it’s a relief that this woman makes me feel normal and talks to me like a (wise) friend. She checks in with me a couple times during the week over chat too just to see how I’m doing. I really recommend this service, and it’s cheaper than in-person counseling too. If you’re not sure about it, just try it for a month and see what you think. You can always cancel it if you feel like it doesn’t help you (or if you think you’ve already gotten what you need from it in a short time). It’s been quite helpful for me though..Version: 8.2

Can be great option, counselor quality variesUPDATE: after a couple weeks I found an option in the app to request a new counselor. Why support NEVER responded to let me know I don’t understand. But within a day or two I was assigned someone new who is great! She actually responded thoughtfully to the same background info I gave my first therapist and we just had our first call which went well. My biggest critique at this point is the fact that it’s simply luck on whether you get someone good the first time. If not at least you can change. I had high hopes for this app as a way to fill in the gaps between my regular therapy sessions. However, after providing a lengthy introduction to my counselor I received zero feedback or acknowledgment of my current situation. During our first live chat they had technical issues and our session got cut to 15 minutes with no real discussion. The counselor asked me about my situation as if coming in cold without ever reading reading my initial posts. Following that my counselor has managed to respond once per day and shows very low engagement. I reached out to support and have received zero response after a week. I understand some counselors will not be up to par but this experience is very disappointing to say the least..Version: 9.7

Better help than that other place. As polite as I can make it. I tried both major players and prefer BetterHelp..Version: 9.10

Most valuable and helpful app I haveI’ve struggled for years with knowing I need to get back to therapy, going to CBT, not liking therapists etc and never sticking to it. With having such a busy life I find it so hard to commit to one day every week and to travel somewhere and with anxiety being one of my main struggles I hate phone calls and meeting one to one. My therapist Digna has been so valuable for the month I’ve had this app, we talk over chat every week and I’m really finding a difference. My relationship with my partner is improving due to the fact I’m showing willingness to own up to my struggles and am working towards healing my past trauma and how to live with my anxiety. Thank you. My only comment is that I don’t know how long I will be able to pay for such a service at over £100 a month..Version: 12.11

Extremely helpful and convenientI was a little skeptical at first. My friend used better help and said he needed to change therapists a few times before he found one he liked, but I was just at such a desperate point in my life that I needed something. And since I travel for work a lot and I’m low-income, the convenience of BetterHelp (and all the podcasts ads that recommend it) seemed like a quick and easy solution. I was matched with Daphne and immediately felt relief. She has been overwhelmingly understanding, kind, and considerate. The fact that I can text her between sessions about what’s going on in my life means we don’t have the waste 15 minutes of our sessions playing catch-up before delving into everything is such a game-changing experience in therapy. I was so happy and she was the first therapist I matched with. Also, the classes and group therapy options are amazing. I’d never been in group before and having that chance to discuss my problems with others having the same issues was so interesting and new. And there’s so many varieties of groups to join and no big commitment to stay in a group that I can’t see every week or maybe I’m not finding as much benefit from is so stress free. I feel like I sound like a paid sponsor, but truly, I can’t believe something like this exists and how beneficial its been to me. I love Daphne so so so much..Version: 13.1

Great investmentBetterHelp has been great with having the flexibility to do therapy anywhere with the transition from living in one place to travelling. Highly recommend..Version: 12.11

Easy to useEasy to use, great customer service. Lots of options and complete confidentiality.Version: 13.4

Such a great serviceIve done face to face therapy before but I really love doing it over video calls, in the comfort and safety of my home. I really appreciate the messaging function as well, it was especially useful when I started and was feeling really bad, but it’s also good when I have some time to think and want to record any aha moments I’ve had and share with my therapist. I’ve already recommended this app to several people who have started using it. I was wrongfully charged too much for a couple of months, but when I raised it I was sent back the difference and a bit more as compensation, with an apology. All in all 10/10, thank you for making therapy accessible and more affordable..Version: 12.12

Literally the best money I’ve ever spentI’ve been curious about therapy for a long time but always stalled when it came to taking action. I wasn’t sure how to find the ‘right’ therapist for me. Better Help makes the process so easy. After filling out a short questionnaire I was matched with a brilliant therapist who I love working with (via weekly video calls). It’s also the most affordable therapy I’ve found and although it’s still a considerable expense each month, it has been worth every single penny. The journey I’ve been on the past couple of months has been absolutely transformative. I already feel like I see the world and myself in an entirely new way and so many of the little issues that have bothered me for decades have been resolved. I will continue to use Better Help because I truly believe that by doing so, I’m investing in my future happiness and well-being..Version: 12.12

Lynette LExtremely easy to use. I was matched with the best therapist for me..Version: 12.3

I highly recommend BetterHelpFive stars for BetterHelp! The therapist I chose was both professional and compassionate. The virtual sessions were convenient, and the platform ensured privacy. A trustworthy choice for anyone seeking quality online therapy. Highly recommend! Louella.Version: 13.6.7

Highly recommendSharon has been instrumental in moving forward and unknotting all of the complicated things I can’t talk though with anyone else. This app is extremely convenient, being able to contact her from wherever I am.Version: 11.7

Multiple services in one counselling platformI am in Australia and use the app on a weekly basis. In the app you are able to have weekly sessions with your allocated therapist, text communication with them at a frequency you are comfortable with (I don’t text much), weekly group counselling through a wide variety of topics and therapist and a groupinar. I have been with BetterHelp now 8 months and whilst yes it costs Aud$440 a month, I would not be able to get the wide variety of services in this package for that price. Disappointed though I only found out about the groupinars last month, whilst attending a group counselling session. The entitlements on joining probably need to be a little clearer. Also I have had my membership extended several times; a full month free when the first therapist left the platform and a week when my therapist has been on vacation and unable to do our session. All with a quick email. I have found the platform to be user friendly and it is meeting my needs when I was unable to locate local counselling without extraordinary wait lists..Version: 12.18

Recommend to anyone who is crying out for helpIf you feel like you aren’t getting enough support from people then this app is your you. They matched me with the most perfect person I could imagine and if I need help but we haven’t scheduled a session she is there for me. It’s exactly what I needed while I’m going through such a rough time and I couldn’t imagine a better support network. I don’t feel so alone and I don’t feel like I’m just a pay check to another psychologist..Version: 12.3

Very helpful! And cheaper than the therapy offline.Version: 12.12

Well worth the costThe benefits I’m getting from this service are well worth the costs. The key is to finding the right therapist. Great thing is you can change therapists at any time with the push if a button in the app. It took me changing therapists once to find the right person for me and I love her. You also have access to unlimited groups sessions on a range of all topics running all throughout the day everyday. It’s a great way to supplement your weekly live 30 min solo sessions. The app is great, simple, and intuitive. It’s seamless across devices whether that be joining a session on your laptop or doing it from your car via the mobile app. Customer service is excellent. They’re fast to respond. I had a few hiccups at the start of service but they resolved it and gave me extra weeks to compensate. I love it so much that I will be signing up for couples counseling next. I remember trying to find local, in office therapy, and they all were either not accepting new patients or booked 6 months out. Why bother with that when you have the convenience of BetterHelp to work for your schedule and like I mentioned the ability to change therapist’s at any time with the push of a button is HUGE! This modern therapy platform is the way to go!.Version: 13.0

Incredible helpful, would like to see some app improvements.I really like the flexibility of this service, especially as someone with a constantly changing schedule. I appreciate how easy it is to find a therapist and switch as needed. I also enjoy the different sessions types and being able to message my therapist whenever, so helpful. I’d love to see some improvements made to the platform. Adding things like dark mode and standard emoji support would be great. Also, it would be quite helpful to book out further in advance if scheduling is a challenge. I also like that you can pay for an extra weekly session, but it makes scheduling the following week more challenging as it delays access to the therapist’s schedule for the following week. My therapist is great about working with me, but having a system that is more automated for future scheduling would be helpful. For example, if I’d like to add an extra session, maybe it needs to be approved by the therapist before it’s confirmed. This method could also work for booking out future weeks as well. That way the Therapist is still in control of their booking and can work to ensure they’re not overbooked and unable to support other sessions. Also, please fix the video call layout on iPad, the preview window is cut off when the device is in landscape. Adding a mute button would also be really helpful..Version: 12.11

Would completely recommendBetterHelp is a great platform which provides therapists pretty much immediately. I had never done therapy before and the 3 hours I’ve had with my therapist have started to be transformative from the beginning. (Thank you Trine). The platform also offers live classes on so many topics (e.g relationships, depression, anxiety etc) so if you’re unsure of what to talk about in therapy I found those helpful to begin with and get the most out of your sessions if you’re unsure where to start. If your therapist doesn’t feel quite right, you can switch straight away, so make sure you feel it’s right and don’t be afraid to find someone who works for you!.Version: 13.1

Easy and professionalI was always put off starting therapy, wondering if i will get on with my therapist, finding the time, saving money for it. In this Covid time, it made things harder. i found betterhelp browsing the Internet. I was looking for online professional and affordable therapist. i gave it a go, It was easy to enrol, reasonable commitment, i started with the 4 weeks scheme at reasonable price and thought i would end it if i wasnt satisfied. I am in my 4th week now and i can tell, this app is a life saver for me. I was matched up with a very professional, non judgmental, friendly counsellor. We communicate each day by text messages and have a visio session each week. Online is so convenient, we agree with a meeting time (taking into account time difference as i am in UK), and filling my journal each day, Audra replies by text message, giving me encouragement and or directions to think. I feel i am important, listened to and guided in a very professional, non judgmental way. Exactly what i need. I have signed up for 6 more months with no hesitation. Very reasonable price for the quality of the counselling. I highly recommend it for anyone who went through trauma, are questioning their inner self, are lost at the moment or needs to understand a few things in their life..Version: 9.9

More helpful than you may realize. This app/website has been a wonderful discovery. I discovered it thanks to the YouTuber Gabbie Hanna, and have been thankful ever since. My life has been one mental/emotional issue after the next, but I never actually got any real ‘help’, at least nothing that worked with me and for me. BetterHelp has definitely been the most properly advertised name I know, because they make it so easy to start and even though it’s not cheap, it’s definitely more affordable than traditional therapy. Thankfully I was eligible for some financial assistance, which they offer through their site! I’m a person that’s always had issue speaking up for myself and my own problems, which has always made it difficult to reach out, but now, I can reach out to my therapist (who can actually be swapped out at any time by the click of the button if you end up with someone that doesn’t work for you and you have too much anxiety to just tell the therapist what’s wrong). She has been so helpful and understanding in ways I haven’t experienced before, and has been providing some solutions that are working for me! Again, this is all within the first month of using this, and I can’t wait to see who I become with continued support and some BetterHelp!.Version: 6.4

Good, but very US focusedAs a UK resident, I found the majority of BetterHelp's content to be focused on a US-centric perspective. While this may be beneficial for those living in the States, it left me feeling like a lot of the information and discussions were not relevant to my own experiences and struggles. Additionally, the lack of options for group therapy sessions with therapists based in the UK was disappointing. I understand that BetterHelp is a US-based company, but I would have appreciated more options for group therapy that is tailored to my specific location and cultural context. Overall, while I appreciate the convenience and accessibility of BetterHelp's platform, I would have liked to see more attention paid to the needs of international subscribers..Version: 12.12

Pleasantly SurprisedI was pretty apprehensive when I finally decided to try online therapy. I’ve done in-person therapy for 15 years and wasn’t sure I’d be able to connect with my therapist without being able to meet the person face to face. But I can’t afford to see my usual therapist because of my insurance coverage (or lack there of) for mental health services. So I did some research on which app was best and decided on BetterHelp. They have been very supportive, financially and emotionally, from the very beginning. My counselor made it very easy to talk to her. She’s very attentive, professional and makes me feel safe and heard. I never feel like a burden, even though I have constant access to her. So far I have only done text and phone calls. I may try video sessions in the future. It’s just so nice and comforting to have an outlet for all these thoughts and feelings I haven’t had a place to put for so long. BetterHelp is an amazing app that I am so grateful to have found. Even if I get better insurance in the future, I will likely stick with this form of therapy. It’s convenient - I can schedule my own appointments from the app and don’t have to worry about getting there on time or traveling far. I can do it all from the comfort of my home, or wherever I want. The price is affordable and my biggest worry about not being able to connect was a totally wrong. I feel very connected. They named this company right. I am getting Better Help!.Version: 8.2

So happy to have started with BetterHelp!Recently started therapy via BetterHelp, which a lot of friends had recommend, and now I can’t recommend it enough myself. You’re matched with the therapist that’s the best fit for you, your issues, needs. It went great for me but I’ve also heard from friends that you can very easily change therapist if you don’t find the initial one assigned to you suitable. It’s making a huge difference for me, I find the cost to be very reasonable for the service provided and amounts of sessions, and you can message your therapist outside of sessions for additional support. I was really sceptical because of it being via video calls and not in person; I had been putting off seeing a therapist for a long time and now that I’ve started with BetterHelp, the scepticism of the video calls has gone out the window. With the right therapist the connection is going to be there regardless. If you’re someone like me who needs help and has been struggling to seek it out, I really do strongly advise BetterHelp, or at least to give it a try!.Version: 12.9

You Need to Keep Searching To Find Your ClinicianI appreciate this company and their support has been great. After trying Talkspace, I came to them and wanted to try them out, but didn't qualify for more than 5% financial aid, and they gave me 40% after learning that I had shelled' out for their competitor. It took me several tries, because some clinicians didn't respond or wrote very short replies, or (in one case), asked what I wanted out of therapy when I'd written a pretty detailed response to the initial questionnaire. After working with my clinician for several months, I canceled my account. I had to start the process over again, but when I reached out to support, they told me I could get back to working with the clinician I liked, and my session history was restored, just as if I'd never left. This clinician is great, too. His name is Lance Tingle, and he provides Thankful Thursdays and Mindfulness Monday exercises, along with the therapy. He is quick to respond, and he provides exercises, app recommendations, and articles to read. If you keep at it and find a clinician whom you trust and are able to work with, this can be a really great app. You have the means to write about your experiences on-the-go, so you can process things as they come up. Cancellation is a bit of a convoluted process since you have to click Cancel several times, and make sure you get the cancellation E-mail. Other than this, I highly recommend the company and its services..Version: 11.5

Great service and very easy to use.Very happy..Version: 13.6.7

BetterHelp is the Best thing I’ve done for myself! This app and the service that goes with it is a life-changer! If you’ve ever felt you needed therapy but couldn’t get to it either because of time restraints, convenience issues, monetary concerns, or even just lack of access, then you owe to yourself to check out BetterHelp. This app solves all those problems. It’s affordable, secure and private, convenient, and accessible. The quality of the therapy I’m getting is first rate—trust me, I’ve been to enough different types of therapists and therapies with my illness, I can tell quality and competence when I see it. This service has both. I live in a small, rural town and could not consistently get access to qualified, competent mental health care on a consistent basis. I was really struggling to cope. This service solved those issues and literally changed my life. The excellent therapist I have (Gerry W.) has been a real positive source of support, encouragement, guidance—but more than that, he’s taught me to cope with my illness and learn to accommodate and adapt so I can more successfully function in the real world. If you need or want excellent mental health counseling, this service/app is my number one recommended place to get it—no matter where you live. Try it, you will be glad you did..Version: 12.12

Getting Started Is Easy! The App & technical process is simple to use. You can fill in a daily journal with many different areas of response to encourage you. These can go straight to your therapist. It is easy to find a session time on the App. Choose a Video Session rather than text or phone call. The therapist is always able to be contacted on a day to day basis by text. So you can ask any questions at any time. When your Session is about to start you get lots of reminders & help - you click onto Session Start & wait for the therapist to come online. It all works smoothly & there are also Group Sessions you can join with interesting titles. I might try one of those in my 2nd week..Version: 13.1

Therapist and pricing is great - App needs updatingI have an amazing therapist Dr Edmunds - she has helped me so much. So fantastic I also find the group sessions great and appreciate that it’s not prerecorded but actually live where you can ask questions. I had to minus 1 star (almost two stars) because the app needs updating for example they should show the group session times in the app in your local time ( I’m from the UK) it’s very annoying that I have to see the American time and manually open up a page to check the time difference in my country. The calendar doesn’t allow to book bulk bookings - I prefer to save a regular time each week but can only book next session. The worksheets should be printable if wanted..Version: 9.10

Convenient TherapyWith the way the world is now living with the pandemic, Psychologist’s books are full. No one is taking new clients. BetterHelp app has helped me with the shortage of psychologists. I did a quick questionnaire on what I needed support with, & within a day, I was recommended a great therapist with the appropriate qualifications to support me! Because I share my life with C-PTSD, the symptoms come & go.. & knowing that this app is here for me at anytime day/night.. is great! Definitely recommend it!.Version: 12.10

The BEST choice I made ever is to start therapyBetterhelp is one the best services I have ever come across. With Betterhelp I was able to connect to my therapist, Michelle Attias who has got over 20years of experience. I never thought therapy could make such a big difference in my life and how I feel. The sessions being on a weekly basis through the app is absolutely key to how I started to get better and work on myself. Whether video/voice call I was able to speak to my therapist and message them every time something came up and didn’t have to wait until the next session. Betterhelp makes it so easy to start working on yourself and feel better and happier. I also did swap between other therapists until I finally found the one that I really connected with. And whenever I couldn’t book a therapy session, betterhelp customer service extended my subscription. I have not seen such brilliant customer service when using apps. I highly recommend Betterhelp. It has definitely been a lifechanging decision for me and I hope more people join therapy and start making positive changes in their lives..Version: 12.11

SurprisedI tried this on a whim, and all I wish is I had started earlier! The best way I have received the help I needed when I needed!.Version: 13.6.7

Matched right away with the best therapist I’ve ever had.Was skeptical to give it a try as had seen so many ads. However being able to be matched with a therapist (from a global pool) who matches your needs and is available now, is awesome. There is a shortage of therapists where I am from and they cost so much. So glad I tried this instead..Version: 12.12

Feeling BetterI started using BetterHelp a few weeks ago. I was really in a rough place and I felt like I didn’t have time to take care of myself. I felt like I didn’t have time or the money to talk to anybody at a rate that I could afford. I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to connect with a therapist that would be able to understand me and where I was coming from. BetterHelp allowed me to go through a list of therapists where I could see their background and their specialties and get a sense for who I would be talking to before I had even a first conversation. The communication started off as text messaging which was more comfortable for being able to share what was going on with me without feeling nervous to share certain issues I was having. Then I was able to book a video session with my therapist to discuss over video chat what was happening and to discuss my progress. I was able to learn new techniques to help better my own thinking and behaving and recognize what was causing me so much anguish. I was able to do it affordably and in my own time. When I needed a lot of communication, I could have it - and when I needed time to reflect, I had space as well. This is my long winded way of saying that I highly recommend BetterHelp to anyone who needs an affordable and convenient way to connect with a therapist. It saved my life and my relationships with my loved ones. Thank you D and thank you BetterHelp..Version: 12.11

Saved my sanity saved my well beingCouldn’t ask for a better platform for therapy. When I discovered BetterHelp, I was relieved that I could have a therapy session from the comfort of my own home, or sitting in a forest or at the beach. I could write to my therapist anytime and she would get back to me in a timely manner, responding hang in there amongst other supportive words. I have yet to sit in on a seminar, having the option to learn about specific things regarding mental health and learning tools to help assist in problems I’m faced with is a huge help. I found that if I was at work and having challenges I would go to the staff bathroom and sit on my phone and message my therapist when I was feeling overwhelmed and emotionally couldn’t focus. It has really been a great aid for me, and even now after 3-5 years on and off using it I’ve still had the same therapist. I’m 37 now and I recently deactivated my therapy again to help assist in some situations I’m currently facing. I would recommend this to anyone to try it. You can video, phone or message with your therapist and it is affordable and if you need financial aid they will discount your cost. This app and my therapist have saved me. Thank you!!!.Version: 9.10

AmazingI’ve never had a therapy service that’s worked for me in the past. This has been amazing, I’d recommend it to everyone.Version: 12.3

Worth all of the time and moneyLiving with any sort of mental health problem can be difficult and scary. I believe that investing in a BetterHelp membership is so beneficial to me and has helped me to cope with my mental health at its worst. There are lots of different therapists who offer lots of different therapies. EMDR and Hypnotherapy have really helped me. The customer service support staff helped me to find my current therapist so that I could try the type of therapy I was interested in. They were super helpful and sent me several different therapists for me to choose from. If you are thinking about starting therapy then this is an excellent place to start. You won’t regret it..Version: 13.4

Amazing serviceI’m seeing a lot of bad reviews swearing up and down that this service is a scam, wants to steal from you, and/or doesn’t care for its clients. I can tell you right now that those people couldn’t be anymore wrong. I suffered with panic attacks for three months before I started looking for affordable counseling, and found it at betterhelp! I applied for financial aid and received a 40% off for a whole month! I went to them for help very late at night and had been matched with a counselor within an hour, and he was eager to have a video session the next day. After my session he gave me so many tips, tricks, and information and I could already feel my fears going away. Aaron Dutil was a great counselor and gave me some exercises to use at bootcamp, (which date has now been changed to the 22nd). He always checked up on me when I didn’t contact him and gave me some self therapy to use which was very helpful. If it wasn’t for betterhelp I would still be having panic attacks and anxiety, but thanks to this app I’m free from them. The only problem I had was being charged for a whole month when I was planning to cancel after 2 weeks, but customer service was very fast and refunded me no problem. Thank you betterhelp, because your service gave me my life back..Version: 6.4

2 sessions and already amazingHoped I’d get a little insight but it’s amazing the perspective it has given me, especially with the flexibility and group sessions. Highly recommend.Version: 12.12

Better helpHas been agreat experience. Having sumone to talk to and listern. Easy to use and understand this app. Very fast at getting back to you when you have a issue or bad day. Iv had alot of support and advice. Well worth trying this app to see if its right for you..Version: 9.9

So thankful for my therapist!!!I was hesitant to actually start this. I had one therapist before (not through here) and it lasted 3 sessions before I was fed up that I keep wasting my money to literally talk to someone with no solution out of it. My boyfriend can hear me whine for free, why do I need to pay someone?! So I stopped going. Obviously I still had my issues and once I started my new job, I realized just how much those things were affecting me. However, I refused to let myself sink. I had no expectations of this app, I just gave it a try because honestly, the fact that I don’t have to go anywhere or drive anywhere or worry about being on time, I would be stupid not to give this a go. How many times have we wasted money on stupid things?! Everyday!! This is for my mental health and sanity, which should be your top priority. And if you’re here reading this, you have to care about your mental health too! I have been doing my weekly visits with my therapist, Veronica Johnson, and within my first session I realized just how great this is going to be. I’m not “cured” , I’m not where I want to be in my life but dude I’m so much farther than where I was a month ago. I can’t wait to see where I am in another month or two. If you are reading this, I hope you know that you don’t have to be alone. If you can’t afford it, see if you’re eligible to get the price knocked down, it’s super easy!.Version: 12.11

A must try if you have ADHDRescheduling with a therapist or sudden changes that I had forgotten about have always been MAJOR issues for me. BetterHelp gives you flexibility in time management and you can get help in your own terms.Version: 12.11

FantasticThis is a great service. They take a very reasonable payment which you can get lessened depending on your circumstances and can cancel at any time. You then tell them anonymously something brief about what you need help with and they then pair you with the right mental health professional. You can choose if you want a woman or a man or other categories too. My counsellor was fantastic, definitely just what I needed..Version: 3.10

Quality therapy, Great for all time zonesI’m in NZ and my therapist is in the USA and we work together really well. She is amazing :) no issues with call quality or regular communication with being on the other side of the planet either. 100% recommend..Version: 12.12

Exeptional Counselling, Slightly Buggy AppI was rather anxious in regards to the idea of counselling, especially online after previous bad experiences with therapy/counselling in the past, but once I fully engaged, I found it to be unarguably the most useful, convenient and helpful provision I’ve had my whole life. In the last 4 months alone, I feel myself becoming much different to as I was before and in the absolute best way possible. Each session with my counsellor is something not to be anxious for but to look forward to, learning new things about myself I could not self-identify prior, learning ways of handling situations, and general support for my mental health which enhances all aspects of my health as that conviction and assurance after you know what you’re doing is invigorating. The groupinars are fantastic, and being taught things rather complex in a simple way that does not feel in anyway patronising is brilliant, and being in these chats with supportive, kind and caring is really a heartfelt thing to have. I completely recommend the service in that regards, as you will not regret one dime or one second with better help, but I will say take in due consideration the app itself is not exactly perfection, and can be quite slow or not exactly smooth, but works adequately..Version: 9.6

So helpful - definitely life changing. This is a WONDERFUL app. Especially during these unprecedented times, it’s great to have help in your own home at a better price, a more private setting, and with additional resources. Better Help offers the therapy I need at a fraction of a cost. My in person therapist would cost $150-$200 out of insurance for a 50 minute session. However, this is almost the price for the whole month of BH for FOUR 50-minute sessions PLUS unlimited messages in between sessions....AMAZING! In addition, BH offers various ‘groupinars’ that are totally confidential and cover anxiety, grief, relationship guidance, etc. with different therapists. In addition, my therapist gives me weekly worksheets to support continual improvement outside of our sessions. She sends these electronic worksheets through our private portal and I can work on them whenever I need to. I can also submit them to her to review. The app also has a virtual journal that can be shared with your therapist as well. Lastly, you can do phone or video so you don’t need to see your therapist or vice versa if you don’t want to. Overall, this is a great option. I know there are other services out there, but from my understanding they only allow you to message your therapist 5 times or less in between sessions rather than unlimited. Although BH is the only app I’ve tried, I feel it’s superior than the others available..Version: 9.7

I’m finally living againHello out there people that need someone that genuine cares about your problems and well being. Someone that you can talk to when you don’t have anyone else or can’t trust anyone else. I’ve been with BetterHelp for just a little while now and I can honestly say that is the best decision that I have ever made. My therapist has been the best help for me just at the time I needed help so badly. I couldn’t talk to friends or family members about my issues but I can open up 100% my therapist from BetterHelp. I was in very dark place but not anymore. I get excited and count the days when I can talk to her again. I’ve never been able to open up before, I have been able to even talk to family now. They are very grateful for this program. I recommend you to give it a try, reach out and get what you need. A beautiful and better life. Don’t give up, just ask and you will receive exactly what you need. Get it off your chest and you will have an amazing transformation. I was a tough nut to crack, no more. I am so thankful to BetterHelp for helping me and settling me up with this amazing therapist, friend. Go for it, don’t be sad , angry or whatever may be troubling you. I can actually get up in the morning now with energy and contentment. I’m not about to quit now, there is a life for me now. Best decision ever..Version: 12.12

Never Too Late!“BetterHelp” is a private, secure, & easy to use application for people both new or have had prior therapeutic experiences. Most people beginning therapy feel a little uneasy as it can be hard to seek help and feel comfortable sharing what issues one may be going through. It helps that the cost for treatment is more than reasonable compared to how pricey it can be when going to in-person therapists that charge ridiculous costs making it harder for people to seek help. I recommend that anyone even thinking or on edge about seeking treatment & bettering themselves to at least try out the “weekly plan”. If you have friends you can try together & help eachother out by each getting free weeks! Remember it is unrealistic to wake up one day & have all your troubles go away.. it takes work & being consistent. I believe “BetterHelp” can help you, like myself, heal & find happiness+inner peace in becoming the best person you always could be. Thank you “BetterHelp”, thank you, Farhat(my therapist), & thank you fellow readers for taking the time to read my review… -Jimi Hendrix “when the power of love overcomes the love of power, the world shall know peace.” A quote that has moved me & that I shall live by.Version: 11.5

Helpful and responsiveFour weeks in and I’ve had a very positive experience with BetterHelp. Creating the account was straightforward. They requested payment to register, and offered financial aid and different plans. I started with the monthly billing with a 10% off financial aid. I was paired with a counselor within hours, who sent me a message to initiate the process. When I didn’t respond in two days, frankly because I kind of lost the momentum, she checked in gently, which promoted me to respond. And it’s been great so far! I might have gotten lucky to be paired with a counselor who works great with me, and there’s always the option to switch counselors. I write daily journal in the app and rarely send any message. She usually reacts to my journal once a day, which from my perspective is adequate. During our first video chat session, she’s also set the expectation that she may only be able to respond once a day, especially during this new normal with the pandemic - I thought that was fair. I’ve always had great experience with the BetterHelp customer service team, which communicates via email. I was surprised that they responded to my emails to quickly over a weekend. Overall, I’ve had great experience with BetterHelp and intend to keep the subscription for as long as possible..Version: 9.6

One of the best life decisions I madeI have been using Better Help for 8 months now. I started before this time with a counsellor who left me with a bad impression. I returned to the app two months later and noticed the change counsellor option. This generated profiles of several other counsellors who work with the issues and preferences I identified. I read these and client reviews carefully before finding my current counsellor. I haven’t looked back since. My counsellor has been brilliant and has a good combination of counselling and coaching skills, which help me deal with past issues and identify new goals for moving forward in my life. I love that for the first several months I only communicated with him via phone as I’m not one to trust and confide easily and this sense of anonymity helped. We now do a combination of phone and video sessions each week. I see this as a valuable investment in my life. I find the added bonus of being able to message my counsellor between sessions as well as our weekly hour is good value for money. My one wish is that they would introduce a fortnightly paying option as at some point in the future I envision reducing but not being so infrequent as monthly, which the only other pay option is per month..Version: 8.0

Helpful, flexible, quality.Better help connected me with a great counsellor, who, despite being from a different country and background, has surprised me with their compassion, grace and helpfulness as I work through some challenges..Version: 12.3

HelpfulI have had a few sessions that have been good, i like the flexibility.Version: 9.7

So much better than in-person sessions**UPDATE** Since Covid hit, I have had financial struggles and was worried I would have to start cutting things out from my budget. I reached out to BetterHelp and immediately was able to get some financial aid that I desperately needed. Couldn’t be more grateful for what this app brings to my life and how much of a difference it has made in the months I’ve been using it. Thank you so much to the creators of this, it really has made a difference like no other resource. For what you get from what you pay, this is a steal compared to in-person therapy. I can work with my therapist any day I need to, and sessions are very easy to schedule around my own needs. My therapist Karen is amazing—I have had lots of trouble in the past finding a therapist that wanted to really work with me, rather than just nod absently as I talked, but Karen truly helps me actively recover as she dedicates meaningful time and energy into our sessions and beyond. Therapy is not just a once a week thing where I talk about my problems and then forget about them until my next session, this app makes therapy a truly hands-on experience that you work on daily. I’ve never been more relieved to finally find the help I’ve been looking for, without feeling regret looking at insane weekly bills..Version: 9.7

Great help without conventional therapyFor those wanting to take a step in getting some help; but can’t find it within themselves to consult a councillor or go for therapy through conventional means, better help is a great step in the best direction. You can communicate with those available and able to support you through any means necessary. You have full power and with so many supporters signed in; you are bound to find a excellent match. I strongly encourage anyone who really feels that they need someone to talk to, better help is a meeting place full of people who are willing to listen to you and be their for you. I hope you are ok and I wish anyone reading this the best and that things will turn around in your favour. Please do not suffer any longer on your own and accept the support you so much deserve..Version: 11.5

Medical and CPTSDI cherish this service for helping me process the trauma of childhood abuse and sorting out my turbulent emotions following two liver transplants in six months. The counseling and coaching are allowing me to learn from my experiences and to think about them in newer, healthier ways. Now my emotions are starting to make sense and I am beginning to realize that how I feel doesn’t have to yield to someone else’s opinion about how they think I ought to feel. I never had a voice, now I’m finding my own voice. I live in a small town where mental health care and seeking care is gossiped about, considered weakness, and generally shamed. I understand now that it’s that shaming that kept me from being open about being abused. I finally have the tools and help that I needed for years but couldn’t access without being alienated, this allows me to get help in private any time I want, from where ever I’m at! I also qualified for an income based discount and I am able to pay for my physical AND mental needs. This is the best investment I’ve ever made. If you’re reading this, don’t repeat my mistakes, don’t wait. You deserve the help and the healing that I have found here. Healing is hard, but living without healing is harder..Version: 12.18

Better HelpBetter help has been the kind of counselling that I have been searching for in years!.Version: 9.10

Better Help reviewI like Better Help. My couselor is excellent. Carolyn Hernandez.Version: 13.6.7

Already feeling less stressed outI was linked with a therapist very quickly, which I was surprised as I wanted to focus on ADHD and how to navigate it. My online sessions are really helpful and I like doing them from home, with the opportunity to message them when I have a certain thought. It’s easy to book sessions, although some timings may not suit, but you can discuss with your therapist about a time that works for you. I find the journal really helpful as well, with a chance to straight share or keep to yourself. All in all I felt this was a really accessible way to get seen quickly by a professional sensitive of your needs..Version: 12.11

Great option for therapyThis is a really great service for anyone that needs to access therapy. I am only a few sessions in but this is an amazing affordable alternative to meeting with a local therapist in person. Better help we’re great at matching me with a therapist trained in my issues, and offer additional support including free group webinars and online content. Technically there are a range of really easy to use options including online chat, video and phone sessions which is excellent. My therapist has been wonderful so far and is really flexible in trying to meet appointment times etc for me, also responds super fast to any messages I send through the betterhelp interface. You can message your counsellor anytime not just when you have a session which is great and reassuring. There’s also an online journal option which you can keep private or share, and I love how I can use a range of devices so I can choose whether my laptop iPad or phone is more convenient for sessions/accessing my account, it means I have access 24/7 to the better help interface even when I’m out and about as long as I have my phone and internet access. Really pleased with it and would highly recommend to anyone..Version: 10.0

It's easier than you think to get started with getting the help you deserveSigned up for this on a whim after discussing with my partner about certain behaviours I exhibit which are unhealthy. The sign up procedure is fairly straight forward and easy to do and there is financial aid available for those that qualify. My therapist has been very good about responding back to my messages and starting the process from a simple chat and then organising a live session, as this is all online it is much more convenient to simple log in online than show up to an office in person and therefore made my decision easier to seek help. If you have been thinking about getting therapy give this a try as this could be the stepping stone you need..Version: 12.12

I find this app helpfulMy therapist is very experienced and so helpful. I wasn’t sure what to expect with virtual therapy but I’ve been incredibly impressed..Version: 12.12

A virtual lifesaverI had spent many years suffering with some sporadic bouts of depression and friends had suggested I go for counselling. However many times they said it, I kept avoiding it until I saw this app advertised and thought what have I got to lose? I don’t even need to leave my own flat. I had some trepidation, but my counsellor, Leila, felt like a perfect fit straight away and I have now been speaking to her on average once a week for the last year. Knowing I have her support, it has helped guide me through the times where I used to feel real darkness and emptiness. When I don’t have a session scheduled, I can still message her through the message facility and she has been an absolute professional throughout. I can not recommend this service more highly - it is far cheaper than a high street therapist, and with the added convenience of being able todo your sessions at home. I’ve even found the time difference a benefit rather than a hindrance as I would struggle to see a therapist during normal working hours so being able to schedule them in my evenings is brilliant for me..Version: 3.9

Easy to use with a human touchI have found using better help so easy! It’s simple to navigate the app and keep in touch with your therapist, and still has a human touch despite being technology led with the video sessions. I have never attended therapy before, however being able to do it through my phone rather than attending a physical appointment has taken a lot of barriers down for me in actually going to therapy, and taken away my excuses to not go! My therapist is fantastic with a very kind but honest approach, and keeps checking in with me and keeping me on track. I am glad I have taken on the therapy, and have the BetterHelp tool to keep me engaged..Version: 13.1

At Home TherapyI love my therapist and also the fact that I don’t have to be in the office for a visit. They also matched me with a wonderful therapist; and the scheduling is super easy.Version: 12.11

Life changingI am so so so glad that I found this app. I first found out about it from listening to a podcast called "The Mental Illness Happy Hour". It seemed so beneficial to the host that it made me interested in checking it out. I had a number of life changing moments occur in a short amount of time which led me to feel extraordinarily overwhelmed. I have literally never felt healthier and happier after using it for a few months. This app offers counselling through a variety of options such as phone and video sessions, as well as a chatting option. Particularly the chat option has benefited me by having the ability to send thoughts in real time as well as reading back over things. Both of these have led me to have insights that have had direct positive impacts..Version: 3.6
