Adobe Illustrator: Graphic Art for Positive User Reviews

So far so goodAfter playing around this morning, this is definitely an exciting app for me. The 2 features that I need to make it perfect would be; on the desktop I use cmd-k to change the nudge distance MM easily and secondly the ability to do equations when scaling/moving objects. The work I do is quite precise and I need the ability to shift and scale things accurately in relation to other objects..Version: 1.0.2

GoodIllustrator is a good program but I would like it to better sync with my laptop.Version: 2.1

Wishing for more, but enjoying what I haveI finally started figuring the work flow between my desktop and iPad, and while Adobe CC leaves a bit to be desired (simultaneous editing between two devices for instance) it’s really nice to be able to make a document on my iPad, save to the CC, open it on the desktop, apply any brushes I need to, move it back and redraw or move points, and continue from there. At the moment the most useful part if making individual files with elements to use in a larger, more complex and complete desktop file, instead of working on that larger projection the iPad itself. I like: • The smoothness of the pencil with the vector tools • The simplicity in design for powerful effects and productive work flows • The addition of all the pathfinder options, repeating options, and access to your library I wish: • It could be used almost like a tablet connected to the desktop without the lag you get from other apps, for less back and forth on the CC • More access to the CC library for brushes, symbols, etc. But that’s a CC Library note more so, be great to have actual symbols and not images, or brushes instead of objects that hold those brushes • Pattern and art brush creation within the iPad app.Version: 2.0.1

Must haveBeen using illustrator on desktop for around 10 years. Using it mainly for designing fabric and illustrations. The iPad version integrates very nicely indeed. Tutorials are excellent. Only downside is I wish they would add a charcoal based brush effect but that’s a personal preference..Version: 1.0.2

More intuitive than the desktop version. Is their a way to make the desktop version look like the iOS version?.Version: 2.1

Great with the iPencilI love using it with the iPencil for drawing. Some people complain that it’s not as good as then desktop version. It was never meant to replace it..Version: 2.1.1

No save now, no warning auto save stops for hours, crashLike I said above, there’s no save now button, you have to leave your document in order to save it. It’s happened to me with this app as well as other Adobe apps, the app will stop auto saving for hours, not tell me, then eventually doesn’t save upon exiting or crashes in general, deleting hours of work with no warning. It’s consistently messed up my deadlines, and I wouldn’t advise using Adobes iPad apps for professional work / commissions or anything you care about too much about.Version: 2.1

업그레이드가 안된건지???아트브러시 개인 맞춤화가 되지 않아요. 새로운 아트브러시를 등록하고 싶은데 기능이 안되네요..Version: 3.0.1

The ultimate graphic design tool!I can’t believe how intuitive and functional this app is! I don’t think I’ll ever be able to go back to the desktop version. I just wish there was a cheaper subscription bundle that included photoshop and illustrator for iPad..Version: 1.1.2

Pretty goodIt’s kinda confusion, but it is pretty god.Version: 3.0.2

Very useful - looking forward to more featuresVery well thought out app. Really looking forward to future updates. Would be nice to see... - a bit more refinement to the direct selection tool (similar to other reviews, I keep moving my entire object all the time). - a bit more precision involved in colour selection (for example, trying to get a slightly darker colour is quite tricky). - the puppet tool (personal preference, I use this a lot). - The ability to copy and paste parts of shapes instead of the whole path. Basically the more features added from the desktop version, the better. Good work Adobe team, cracking app 👏.Version: 1.0.3

Illustrator on iPad is a game changer for meI’m genuinely impressed with this first release of Illustrator on the iPad. It’s actually a lot more polished and with more features than I’d initially expected. I love the fact that I can now sync my vector work from the desktop with my iPad. I’ve had a couple of issues with the app freezing when working with a lot of live text in different fonts, but nothing major and I’m sure bug fixes will be along soon. Only real request I have at the moment is to add image trace to the app and it’ll be pretty much perfect for my vector use. Great work Adobe! 👍.Version: 1.3

Watch the tutorial videos !Fantastic App. Well we are probably all the type of person that just opens packages at home and start to use the product we’ve just purchased? I am the worst person to actually do this and it comes across with computer apps as well. I have just started to get back into digital design etc after 20 years break 🤣. I used and was a wizard with JASC Paint Shop Pro ok so it gives me a little edge knowing how things work so to speak. But with Adobe and ProCreate guess again? It doesn’t matter how well you know your way around computers you truly need to watch the company’s tutorial learning videos. I’ve watched many artists teaching videos of a guy named Cory and despite being great if your not actually watching what he selects you will get lost doing the step by step stuff he talks about.. Because when your doing what he’s said and you don’t see him click a button it will throw you off🙏🏻.Version: 3.0.6

Much Better Than Expected!Coming from an experienced, long-time user of adobe products, I was quite impressed with this app! Hoping to see more features such as image trace, etc. be added later, but all the main buttons are there. So much easier to use this instead of mirroring my ipad with my MacBook - no lag and the pencil response is more precise. What’s even better is the app works with the new magic keyboard and track pad! Now I can leave my MacBook at home and just carry the iPad to work on some of my tasks..Version: 1.0.2

My OpinionIt is so fun to to use! I love it..Version: 1.3.3

I converted to Illustrator because it came out on the iPadI’ve been a loyal Photoshop artist for over a decade, and never really liked the way Illustrator worked (vector, paths, shapes, etc.), and only now that it’s come out on the iPad do I feel I can fully have a more intuitive art experience instead of pulling pins and shapes and I really have converted now. I only leave out one star out as it still has many things that it has said to offer, but still does not have (live paint, sketch to vector). I never want to use Illustrator on a desktop, so I hope that they model updates more after something like Procreate instead of simply providing more features from the desktop version. For example, I would like something to make drawing in one or two-point perspective much easier and efficient, but from what I’ve read about the desktop version, no one even uses the perspective grid tools and most usually resort to methods that can’t be done on the iPad..Version: 1.3

I love this appIt is yummy would eat it every night if I could.Version: 3.0.3

Completely dysfunctional. Crashes and Won’t Save. For the two months that I have been using illustrator for a school assignment, I have had to open the app at least 5 times before I can see the file without crashing. I have gotten every update and tried multiple online fixes. If I am lucky enough to be able to see my file,I need to save it after I make a single edit because I keep getting an error won’t save message. I have wasted hours of time hoping adobe will work and save just one stroke. Please fix the crashing and saving issues..Version: 3.0.6

AI tutorialsSlow down, and talk to me. Show me and tell me. Please show me examples of each tool in use. Follow a project from a blank sheet to completion. A graphic design project and an artists drawing project. They are completely different and I am in the second category but I can already see the value. Use every tool multiple ways. More experienced users can skip over the basics. Not everyone comes in with previous experience with the adobe world and tools, or is in a class focusing on learning and using AI. I can tell this could be fantastic for me, but it will take longer than the one week trial to even touch on all the tools. Thanks, Jill E.Version: 1.0.2

Small bug fixesVery good at the moment just a few bug fixes that would be nice and maybe some added features, Bug Fixes - Sometimes layers won’t show in the layers panel until you close and re open the app - Sometimes if you copy something from one layer and paste it in another it will paste a weird outline thing, closing app fixes it Added Features - Transform tool more like the laptop version where you can skew and change perspective more by adjusting each point individually - Paint bucket tool for colouring and shading - Choose if each new stroke is made as a new path instead of joining them.Version: 1.2.6

This is what I’ve been waiting forGreat so far, Its not fully fledged illustrator on the desktop, but its great for the ipad. I like seeing the coming to features as well as there’s a few in there that I’d love to have. After leaving illustrator many years ago i think it may be worth getting it back..Version: 1.0.2

Fairly ReviewedI’m giving this app 3 stars, but only because it continuously crashes on me. I can’t justify anything lower because I have been so pleased with its use and integration with desktop projects. Prior to the most recent update the stability was great and I thought “FINALLY! This is so amazing!” But now… it crashes within about 5 minutes of use and sometimes it saves and sometimes it doesn’t. This app would easily be 5 stars - EASILY (even with it missing some desktop functionality) but now I am constantly on edge that the work that I have done will be lost because the app force closes so often. Edit: updating to 4 stars - 1 additional for the response that they’ve given (hopefully 5 with the fixes!) looking forward to sending them errors and helping them update the app so there are less bugs! Great customer service!.Version: 2.0.1

Ram on ipad 6My 2 go ram make it difficult.Version: 3.0.3

Awesome app.I don't know what people are complaining about, this is an awesome app. I can now design my customers artwork for vinyl cutting, and laser engraving in the comfort of my lounge, or even at my favorite coffee shop. I'm running it on my 2020 iPad Pro 11" I'm guessing the people complaining are using older ipads.Version: 2.1.2

The bestThis is absolutely insane I love it 🥰.Version: 1.0.2

The BestThis is Great because you are drawing and creating new and cool things and is very fun to play with even if you are 5 years or older 10 : 10 do recommend for engineers and artists to use a digital pen and paper and more things to use..Version: 2.1

I love itBeen waiting ages for this, so happy with all of the features. Looking forward to the continual upgrades and improvements..Version: 1.0.2

Good aside from being a little buggy. The tools that I’ve learned thus far work quite well once I got familiar. The tutorials are good, but could be more detailed and have the ability to adjust playback speed. Beyond the basic, I’ve resulted to just playing around with each tool to see how they work. I have noticed some lagging here and there and need to close the project or app to resume working. Most important, I was very frustrated to lose over an hour of work when my project didn’t save properly. I can’t Imagine what its like building an app like this, so I’m trying to have patience and hope Adobe will continue to improve the overall stability of the app..Version: 2.0.3

I’ve been waiting for thisI’ve been enjoying this app so far, and some of the frustrations I’ve found with other apps re. no align/pathfinder tools. I hope that Adobe can include art board rotation in the next iteration. It’d be a game changer! I’m not sure why others have complained about the subscription needed to use it. It’s pretty well known now that you need a subscription for almost all adobe products. 🤷‍♀️.Version: 1.0.2

Useful but a bit buggyI have Adobe Illustrator installed on both my laptop and iPad, and while both versions are simliar(exluding some features), the iPad app has some flaws. I suppose that's to be expected, given that it's running on an iPad though, so Im not too upset LOL. The main issue I have with it is that sometimes the bugs can interfere with drawing. There are times when the app might freeze, your vector might pixelate, your drawings might disappear for a moment, your layers won't show up. When this happens, you have to exit the app and then open it up again. Fortunately, Adobe saves your progress automatically, so you don't lose that much work. Overall, the app is quite handy, especially if you are on the go or dont have a tablet for your computer, and I intend to keep using it, but it does require a bit of patience LOL..Version: 3.0.4

Pretty GoodCurrently missing some useful features from the desktop version, but hopefully they will get added. Overall a lot more usable than Photoshop for iOS..Version: 1.3.3

User FriendlyI like this version of illustrator as opposed to the desktop version for 2 reasons: 1. The desktop version can be overwhelming sometimes with all the different buttons and abilities so its easy to get lost in the sauce. This version is more straightforward and very easy to use especially with the Apple Pencil. 2. It’s pretty beginner friendly for the most part because of it being so straightforward. I use this to make fashion CADs and it only took me one tutorial to get comfortable with this app. It’s a yes from me dawg..Version: 3.0.6

Great but …Love giving it a try to this classic app. Love the tooling, the overall experience and how fast you can do things. The but is based on some bugs that are still quite annoying and that can make things very complicated, specially with layers. Most of the times the layers won’t get selected properly after creating objects or will freeze. Also it will be nice that every time you clone a board it will create new layers for the new elements.Version: 3.0.6

This is great!Fresco is great too, but I love vector with points! The align and snap features work pretty well. More features would be nice, like object scale and rotate commands. I’d love to be able type in the angle I want to rotate an object too! Was skeptical how using just fingers would work but it does quite well, as I said the snaps are excellent. Using the curved points is a little tricky, but this is also challenging with a keyboard and mouse; however, I do find my self missing the nodes and handles more often than I’d like. One thing I do like better in fresco (besides that it’s free) is the free rotate on the art board not sure why its not a feature on this version of illustrator. I know that’s how it’s always worked, but seems like a missed opportunity on the mobile, iPad version..Version: 1.0.2

It’s as if Illustrator was made for iPadUsing an iPad is the perfect device for creating vector graphics in illustrator. And so far from using it, the devs have done a really great job translating the user experience to touch and pen, with the touch zone in the bottom left being a great way to get some of those secondary actions you can’t get with a pen..Version: 1.0.3

Its goodNot great, does what you need. Quite intuitive but gets really buggy when working with paragraphs or larger file sizes... still new to it so will see how we go longer term. But in general, I like it ❤️.Version: 1.2.5

Very intuitive, convinced me to keep my Adobe subscriptionSo far, I’ve found the program very intuitive. Especially if you are accustomed to the desktop version. This has convinced me to keep my subscription.Version: 1.0.2

Amazing app for drawing and designThis is easy to use, can be easily access by your other devices and contains so many tools to make my drawings the best it could be..Version: 3.0.1

A promising start for illustrator on the iPadI was lucky to be able to try out the beta version last month and see what features had been included. I think the first version is pretty good, however, as you’d expect, there are some things missing which are in the full blown desktop version. I would love to see the option to include plugins which I use all the time on my iMac and a bigger choice of grids would also be useful to save having to design your own. Hopefully, these sorts of issues will be addressed in future updates. The beta version was very stable so I expect version 1 to be the same. The most important thing for me is the ability to work on illustrator graphics away from my desk - the freedom to do this is something I’ve been wanting for a long time. Overall I think this is a promising start to Illustrator on the iPad and I’m sure new features will be added over time..Version: 1.0.2

Magic Keyboard IssueI love this app. It’s super handy. Although there are some things that I could really use on a regular basis that are not integrated yet for the iPad, most of the time I can find my way around it. The latest update though has completely messed with my ability to use my magic keyboard without completely restarting my iPad. It works intermittently. But then it completely stops, and not even closing and reopening the app makes it work again. This makes it super inconvenient. So Adobe, if you’re reading this. Please make the fix sooner rather than later before I throw my iPad across the room. Thanks!.Version: 2.0.2

Finally! Better than expected! After having used Illustrator all my professional life in design I was eagerly waiting for it to come to the iPad - just makes the iPad so much more a complete work tool for me. I tried all the other vector graphics programs on iPad but something was always missing or awkward in the operation. I am not using all of the bells and whistles of Illustrator, by far. I am fine with the tool set from the old Illustrator 8 or 9. This iOS version of Illustrator is just that. And it makes elegant and effective use of the touch interface and Apple Pencil. It is just the tool I had hoped it would be and didn't dare to think it would actually turn out to be. Illustrations and Graphic Design on iPad has just become possible for me..Version: 1.1

So so so so so happy this exists!I adore my iPad. I use a computer all day at work (I am a graphic designer) and the last thing I want to do when I’m home is sit at my desk. This makes it so easy to sit back and do vector art. I loved the tools available. Still learning how to fully use the app but I see myself using this more than my computer version. I just wish it had the ability to rotate the canvas. Right now I have to manually rotate my iPad when I’m drawing and it makes the process slightly awkward. Other than that, I love it! Thank you so much, Adobe! This really helps speed up my work flow!!.Version: 1.0.2

Cartoon drawingI bought Adobe Illustrator because I draw cartoons in black and white on paper and needed to create the same ideas in colour. The introduction videos have shown me how to do all the amazing things with colour images but it’s taken me a while to get to know the more simple tools for drawing with an Apple Pencil. Fortunately the representative images are pretty easy to understand so I’ve worked my way through them, but it would have been good to have seen a simple freehand drawing video for the basics..Version: 2.1.1
