If you're trying to measure your yard you cant because the map source is fixed and limited zoom stymies the ability to measure locally. Trying to measure a bend is like a thousand tiny linear lines around a circle. It cant be done. Add yards and meters then ill add a star. Add choice of maps and scale, thats another star.
