Horribly designed, marginally usefulThis app is terribly designed. He pictures are okay, but overall it's not worth the money. The first problem is that you can't set your profile as the area you are in, each time I login it places me in NY, which I'm not, and then have to properly set it. The next issue is that the app doesn't run in the background, so when you go to another app and then come back it reloads from the start screen, meaning I also have to set my location....again. The third and biggest problem is the organization of the trees. Once you get everything set and pick what type of tree you get very little prompting to help you decipher what tree you are looking at. It basically just shows you all of the trees within that type (deciduous, conifer) and doesn't allow for any type of sorting (literally no sorting!!!!). So, you are left to look at tiny pictures of a bunch of trees with their names listed and hope you can tap the right one (there are more pics of the trees once you click on the specific tree type and I do like the descriptions). There are so many types of trees that it's hard to know exactly what you are looking at. A peripheral issue is that people transplant lots of trees from other areas. But it's not clear if this app sorts the trees you are viewing based on general areas (like all trees in the Pacific Northwest) or only trees that are wild and native to each state (like Oregon...remember I mentioned you have to set your state). There is some better organization for some of the deciduous trees but it's limited and should be available for all. Basically this app should ask you to identify distinguishing characteristics of the tree you are looking at and then display all possible trees that meet the description (or it should offer filters that allow you to do this). Just to be clear, this app doesn't offer any of this and is clearly just a copy of a tree encyclopedia with little coding work done. It should not cost more than ninety nine cents. Weak sauce..Version: 1.6

IdentificationIf your looking for an app to identify for you, this isn’t it. You will have to have some knowledge of what your looking for in order to use this app..Version: 1.6

Missing infoApp would be better if there were more pics of the bark—it’s hard to know what leaves look like in the winter. Also, measurements should be in inches and centimeters, not just centimeters. App always defaults to NY, should be last state searched..Version: 1.6

Rip offI wish I would've done a bit more research before purchasing and I wish I could get my money back. If you don't already know the name of the tree, you're out of luck with out a lot of clicking around. A tree outside the window at work, common around town, isn't even in the app. Very disappointed. Feel ripped off.Version: 1.6

Geography is way, way offWashington State is a state— like a province—on the West Coast of the United States of America. Washington, DC is the capital of the United States. It is a city in the District of Columbia, on the East Coast of the United States. The District of Columbia is a not a state, but is a bit like one, and for purposes of a nature app should be treated like one. The bottom line is that they are NOT the same thing, or anywhere near each other, yet this app treats them as the same. If you want to see what trees there are in Washington, DC , you cannot— it will give you the trees for Washington state. If you want the trees for Washington state, you have to pick Washington, DC. If the developer is this profoundly ignorant of geography, it is hard to believe that the app can be trusted at all..Version: 1.6

Useless.I was excited to find this, but The identification guides are so general and the number of trees that are missing from the list is Totally disappointing. I have tried to find five trays that I know well and they’re not even listed. I wish I had not bought the whole pack of birds, trees, etc. I guess the rest are probably just as bad as this one. A total waste of money and time..Version: 1.6

Needs more picturesI live in Vermont. During winter months there are no leaves on many of the trees. I would like to be able to identify trees by their bark. You don’t offer this. Plus I would rather see real pictures of trees and leaves not cartoons..Version: 1.6

You forgot somethingJust purchased this and I found that my state, Washington, didn’t make the list..Version: 1.6

App will not download after purchaseI paid for this app but it will not download..Version: 1.6

Good idea but poor photo bankI like this app because you don't need data to use, it has a lot of trees listed, and the lead type breakdown is helpful. The app is almost useless though because the pictures of the tree types are poor and don't help. Many are from far away..Version: 1.6

MisleadingI should have done a bit more research before purchasing. The good reviews they "have" are for some other application. This is fraud. I want a refund. As for the app it is practically useless. If you don't know the tree you are left to searching through tons of tree listed by there common name. I guess I would saw this is like trying to learn to spell by "looking it up in the dictionary" wait...if you don't know that phone is spelled with a ph vs f. You will be left reading the entire dictionary..Version: 1.6

Washington StateI do not see Washington State listed. I see only Washington, DC. We have different vegetation on the two coasts. Please fix. Thanks..Version: 1.6

Bad!This app has only 1 search criteria, by the leaf, and then give you a long list of “matches” with only 1 photo each and not much of a description of the tree. It’s almost impossible to identify with this app..Version: 1.6

BadHorrible. Don’t waste your money or your time.Version: 1.6

Missing Washington StateIf you're from WA this app is not worth the price because you can't use the state as a filter..Version: 1.6

Won't downloadI can't even get this app to download after trying for several weeks. I hope Apple will refund my money..Version: 1.6

Very disappointedOnce you get to a group of possible trees, there are no leaf pictures, no bark pictures, in the case of walnut it only shows the fruit. Definitely not what I was looking for..Version: 1.6

Cumbersome and not intuitiveThe gps location finder is stuck on the east coast . This app is not worth the time or $5 I wasted.Version: 1.6

A waste of moneyThis app is useless. I bought it so that I could identify trees while hiking. the app does not help in any way. All it does is list all trees in alphabetical order. The pictures are terrible. Only foliage is shown and no full tree pictures. In order to use the app, you have to know the name of the tree first and then punch it in. I wish I ould get my money back. This app is a rip off because all the designer did was copy the information from a tree encyclopedia. There was virtually no coding necessary and certainly no algorithm to help identify an unknown tree. Anybody who buys this app is throwing their money away..Version: 1.6

Don't bother - seriously do notAbsolute garbage. I had more luck with a 60 year old Golden Guide to trees than I did this app. Can't even put in map location other than state, and the photos are quite pathetic. Save the $5. Most definitely not buying an app from this dev again. Also, takes FOREVER to download and is HUGE space hog. Garbage, garbage, garbage..Version: 1.6

No Washington State?!?You can imagine my disappointment to find out that The Evergreen State was not listed in this app. :(.Version: 1.6

Missing WashingtonI suppose this would be a useful app if I lived in a state listed in the guide. Unfortunately I live in the State of Washington. They have Washington DC available, but no Washington. Virginia? Yes. West Virginia? Yes. But alphabetically between, where Washington should be... only Washington DC..Version: 1.6

Has potential but needs refinementThis is s review of the Trees USA app. My start screen is set to the Gallery Page. It is the page with the cartoon pictures of deciduous trees, shrubs, conifers, and vines. Every time I open the ap, it defaults to New York. It would be better to stay on the previous setting. The categories are not correct. For example a live oak is an evergreen but is listed in the deciduous category. A bald cypress is listed as a conifer but is also deciduous. There are also many trees listed in my home state that do not grow here. The identification page seems to work well except it list all trees not just the one filtered by the state. An exact search with a particular state or with the state set at “all” returns the same results. Also the “habitat” section is very weak (swamp, lakeside, mountains, etc would be much better) The alphabetic listing with the pictures is ok. Again the state filter does not work here. In general the pictures are well done and there are enough to help with identifying a tree. A useful feature to add would be while looking a particular tree if you could click the family and see all the trees in that family. If the filters worked properly this could be a very useful app. Edited 04-16-18 to add: There are no maps (that I can find) to show the range of each tree..Version: 1.6

Tree identification is isn't goodI find the identifying to be inaccurate. It doesn't give you zones and an easy way to identify the tree. There are trees that don't even occur in the wild but only in landscaping. It basically doesn't work as an app..Version: 1.6

Trees USAThe app needs reorganization by region so you can quickly eliminate trees or shrubs you won’t see the your current location. It could use other such filters to more quickly zero in on the plant in question. Offering the ability to submit a photo of your plant would also be useful. And of course more species need to be added. Alan McCoy.Version: 1.6

Useless-Doesn’t have my state. -Some photos are distant so can’t really see the leaves well. -great idea tho.Version: 1.6

What's with the "relaxing" reviews?I was going to give this 2 stars until I realized there are many reviews for..a meditation app possibly? I think that's fraudulent. In addition, one other reviewer was right, don't believe the hype. And check the GB space this thing takes up. $5 down the drain. You're better off looking up state trees on your own, online. But I'm going to do what I can to alert iTunes to the possible fraudulent use of reviews for another app here..Version: 1.6
