Astrospheric for Positive User Reviews

Fantastic ToolThis app is one of my immediate go to’s when planning a night of Astrophotography. Easy to use, with a ton of information. I just wish the clouds would cooperate. J.Version: 6.3.4

Great appExcellent to plan astrophoto sessions..Version: 6.3.2

Great for northern lights chasingThis app has really helped me figure out the best times to go out looking for northern lights. The cloud forecasts are easy to read and accessible, and the kp forecast feature is really nice. I’d definitely recommend getting it if you have a hard time catching clear skies while the lights are out..Version: 6.3.4

Excellent astronomy forecast appI use this app all the time now for planning my imaging sessions. All the info I need in one place. Invaluable session planning tool.Version: 6.2.5

AccurateExcellent accuracy within 12h almost 100%..Version: 6.2.5

Reliable AppI heavily rely on this app for my landscape & Astro photography business. Because I need accurate cloud information for planning my outdoor photo shoots, I use this app exclusively to determine sky conditions..Version: 6.3.4

The BestProbably my most used astrophotography tool, it gets my hyped up for clear weather nights with the alerts (which we’re definitely affordable for the value they offer), and has pretty much replaced every other weather app I use..Version: 6.2.5

Swiss Army KnifeHas multiple map views, short term specific conditions, long term general conditions, and more. Very useful for anyone who likes an app to give you the information to make an informed decision rather than the app directing you when it thinks is best for you to go out..Version: 6.2.5

PerfectHas everything you need, all the best resources compiled into one app..Version: 6.2.5

Very coolNice app without ads.Version: 6.3.2

Night skyVery good app for astronomer.Version: 6.3.4

Incredibly usefulI don’t know why I didn’t have this app before, the ability to see hourly cloud covers and much more useful information including light pollution and smoke layers makes this app a must have for observing or planning a night..Version: 6.3.4

Must have for StargazersGet it, check it compulsively at least every day=success. Great to plan ahead for stargazing from the city early in the morning (when its darkest). You don’t want to wake up at 3am just for there to be clouds!.Version: 6.2.5

Incredible App with a Few SuggestionsI have been using Astrospheric for a year and it kicks all the other Astro weather app’s butts. I absolutely recommend it to as many people as I can..Version: 6.3.4

What's not to like?Free, functional, friendly. OK, enough with the alliteration. The app does a great job of presenting an observer's forecast. The developer seems to be responsive to issues in spite of the fact that he's not even getting paid for the app. A veryngood gift to the strargazing community..Version: 2.1

Love itI do amateur astrophotography and this app has been incredibly helpful with planning, seeing expectations and so much more. Their cloud forecasting is incredibly more accurate than any other app I have found and that includes our local news stations. Thanks for the assist..Version: 6.3.4

Wonderful tool — for astronomers and for everyone! This is the first weather-related item I look at in the morning. Even if I only pay attention to the top line of data, it’s a wonderful overview. I also use it for my evening naked-eye observing — and for ISS viewing. For that I pay attention to all the other data rows. I also like the various available map layers, especially the Smoke overlay. Get this app and relish it!.Version: 6.2.5

On of My Primary Observing ToolsI have used this app for the past 12 months and rely on it to provide me with predictions for astronomical viewing opportunities..Version: 6.2.5

Indispensable planning toolI have saved all my stargazing locations and always check Astrospheric before setting out. Extremely useful tool for astrophotography..Version: 6.3.4

OkCloud forecast not bad but it’s been very inaccurate for wind. We’ve had moderate to gale force winds last few weeks and it said 12-15 km/hr..Version: 6.3.4

Accurate and helpfulI use this app on a daily basis. The sky and cloud forecasts are often very accurate. I like how you can search the sky conditions for any location. The interface is easy to use. Highly recommended!.Version: 6.3.4

Simply Awesome! This is the best weather app I’ve ever seen!.Version: 6.2.5

Love itExcellent app.Version: 6.3.4

Great for astronomy!Great app. Use it all the time. It has been really accurate..Version: 6.2.5

Excellent AppI use the app almost daily to plan whether or not I’ll bother to set up for a night’s astrophotography session. I do use it in combination with a few other weather apps. The result is usually spot on for decision making. I realize that the “smoke” layer is still in beta, but that has been some great help as well. Currently we, in the Midwest US, are getting huge smoke plumes from western wildfires. I hope that will resolve soon, for many reasons. Sorry for any rambling but, to conclude, this app is fantastic..Version: 6.3.4

Most accurateI have been using this tool for quite a while not only for astrophoto but regular sunset sunrise too. It has been accurate most of the times ..Version: 6.3.1

Love it!!!!!!!Wouldn’t be without it..Version: 6.2.5

Great way to check weather for astronomyIt’s really valuable to know what the clouds are likely to do for planning star gazing or imaging. Several apps provide info on this but astropheric has far and away the best user interface. You can easily figure out exactly what the conditions should be on simple screen. Moon light, various levels of clouds, seeing, transparency, sunrise/sunset. Sometimes it misses a forecast but in general it’s a great planning tool.Version: 6.3.4

Very useful, but getting adsI really like the usefulness of this app. I don’t waste time putting up equipment and can plan my astrophotography sessions with a good deal of confidence. My only complaint is I have a pro subscription but continue to see ads. What’s up with that? Would have given 5 stars otherwise..Version: 6.3.4

Love it!!Check it constantly.....it’s as accurate as can be expected from weather forecasting. Favourite part is the graphic indicating sun/moon rise/set.Version: 6.2.5

Absolutely indispensableBrilliantly presents loads of essential information for stargazers on a small screen. Next to Google probably the app I use most frequently. Thank you!.Version: 6.3.4

A must have for astrophotographyI use this app every single time I plan an imaging session. I’d say it’s probably 90% accurate even with my state’s unpredictable weather patterns..Version: 6.3.4

Best weather appDefinitely my go to app for Astro imaging..Version: 6.3.4

Astrospheric ReviewA great app, combines. A considerable amount of data into a simple graphic display..Version: 2.0

Unmatched detailI’ve been searching for something that shows forecasted cloud cover. Not only does this app do that, but it is meant for astronomers too!.Version: 6.3.4

Best Astro weather app availableThis app is dead on accurate. Plain and simple. Today it suggested clearing skies by 8pm; all day has been heavy overcast. It’s 7:45 right now, as I look out the window I see light blue skies, continuing to clear into the night. Perfect again!.Version: 6.2.5

App reviewThis is the app I use daily to decide if I’m going out to use my backyard telescope. If app says “poor seeing” I don’t go outside. App is very rarely wrong. I check daily. I have several other viewing apps and this is easy to use. Cedarville AR.Version: 6.3.4

FANTASTIC ASTRONOMY APPThis app is well created, runs smoothly, and has a ton of info to help choose your astronomy nights! It has many overlays that other apps don’t have, such as smoke overlays, jet stream, transparency and seeing, amongst others. It includes light pollution, moon cycles, rises and sets, ground weather.. it literally has everything needed combined into one app! I only just downloaded but I can see from my many other weather apps that it seems to be dead accurate too!.Version: 6.3.4

Application très pratique et bien programméeCette application est très utile pour un astronome comme moi, je n'ai vue aucun bug ou rien de se genre. 5/5 ca en vaux la peine..Version: 6.3.4

Great appReally handy app for checking the weather before a night of observing. The forecast is actually quite accurate and the level of detail is amazing on the type of viewing conditions to expect. Very glad I have this app!.Version: 6.3.2

Great app for astronomy loversI live west of Calgary on Ghost Lake reservoir and this app is very useful and accurate for star gazing..Version: 6.3.4

Astrospheric is greatThis app combines a number of features into one useful collection of information..Version: 6.2.5

Six month testAfter using the app extensively across numerous spots in Colorado I’ve learned to trust the accuracy of the predictions. It would be wonderful to have a 5+ day forecast but I’m much happier with a highly accurate 48-72 hour outlook..Version: 6.2.5

Update! Won’t load iPhone 12 miniEdit: Screen time is on. We allowed browser website although apparently it’s desktop only and the app still shows a black screen with loading ball apart from site information screen..Version: 6.3.4

Astrospheric is first rate!Great app for amateur astronomers. Intuitive to use and informative..Version: 6.3.4

Three forecast models combined!I love this app! It is my go-to for checking the astronomy forecast. The free version provides a highly detailed forecast based on the Canadian weather model. The forecast is updated every 6 hours. The detailed forecast covers roughly the next three days. (The extended forecast goes out much farther but with fewer details and that is understandable because it is much more difficult to predict.) The 'Pro' tier (in-app purchase) combines two additional models to produce an "ensemble" forecast based on Canadian, North American, and European models (color coded so you know which model is forecasting clouds). I can't count the times I'd check a forecast, get the all-clear, and show up to a cloudy sky. Thanks to the ensemble forecast, if all forecasts agree that it will be clear ... you are probably in the clear. (The Pro tier is also ad-free) The ensemble forecast feature is also available to astronomy clubs and star parties at no cost if you qualify (that tier still has ads but you do get the ensemble forecasts). It is nice that the author extends this to clubs and star parties that do public outreach to share their passion for the night sky..Version: 8.0.1

Great app for astrophotography and astronomyLove this app and check it frequently when planning photography outings..Version: 6.3.4

Astrospheric is the greatestI use the site to plan my observation nights and find the site to be very accurate in its forecasts, uncanny really. I mean with all the lousy observing weather that we have been having lately a site like this really helps. An example is a few nights back during a particularly gloomy evening when I would have just given up and went to bed , Astrospheric forecast a break in the clouds for a given time for about 2 &1/2 hours and I prepared for it and was able to get a couple of hours of observing in . Thanks Astrospheric..Version: 6.3.2

Great weather forecast app for astronomyAstrospheric is an amazing weather app for astronomy and astrophotography enthusiasts. I have been using it for over three months, and the app tells me everything I need to know about sky and ground conditions (cloud cover, transparency, seeing, wind speed and direction, temperature, dew point, sun and moon rise/set times and elevation, moon phase details, etc). Tapping on any hour will give an estimated cloud cover map. Included are also various map layers like smoke, cloud, transparency, seeing, temperature, dew point, wind, etc as well as actual satellite imagery (IR, visible, water vapor, GOES-16). I also like the light pollution map that tells me how dark a location will be when I travel. Daniel Fiordalis, creator of the app, is an amateur astronomer and professional programmer, and you can appreciate all the love that went into creating this app. Thank You!!!.Version: 6.3.4

Dependable and Accurate ForecastsI like to photograph the night sky and I use this app daily. The visibility forecasts are accurate and gives you future forecasts that helps me make decisions on the best times to plan my outings..Version: 6.3.2

Tried others. This is the bestThis is the best weather app by far. I consult it daily to know if conditions are right for astrophotography..Version: 3.1

Love it, just one thingHopefully the developer will read this. I love this app, but I just have one thing I don’t like. It doesn’t have widgets. iOS 14 widgets. Pleaseeeee make widgets I love the app I just wish I didn’t have to open the app every time for information. I know it seems petty and lazy but I love iOS widgets. Thanks in advance..Version: 6.3.4

Excellent appI really like Astrospheric: it gives consistently reliable weather and seeing forecast. I use it all the time for my solar imaging and never lets me down..Version: 6.3.4

Best of Its KindIt was the best app of its kind when I first got it. Since then it’s undergone a big overhaul. Now Astrospheric is unbeatable. Nothing even comes close to it. The developer has put a lot of time and effort into function, accuracy, and form. I use it literally every week. So helpful!.Version: 6.2.5

Great weather app.I’ve been using this app for awhile to watch the conditions near my home and I can say it’s pretty accurate. Above that it has one of the best interfaces Ive seen in an astronomy weather app and I really enjoy using it..Version: 6.3.4

Reliable, Accurate & Easy to UseHave been using the app for several months - the information allows me to quickly see the observing opportunities (alas, the weather in Central Iowa has not been very good for star gazing and photography). The content (refreshed every 3-6 hours) provides information on atmospheric conditions, dew point, winds, temps and moon glow (phases), plus ISIS transition times. Easy to read and helpful in planning..Version: 6.3.4

AtmosphericReally great app for star and aurora watchers....clearly laid out with cloud cover, sun and moon rise and set times temps and wind speed info....love it!!.Version: 6.2.5

Awesome appIt really save my time and my gas.Version: 6.3.4

Astrospheric - a Must Have for AstronomersI have been using Astrospheric for a few years now and highly recommend it. It has been very accurate and allows me to schedule my observing/imaging sessions accordingly. Nothing is 100% but this is the closest to it that I’ve found. Clear DARK Skies, George Fleenor.Version: 6.3.2

Handy Astrophotography ToolGenius. Very accurate. Plan every night out with this..Version: 6.3.4

Best clear skies finding appI have tried several different apps for planning my stargazing sessions and This one has been the best. I especially like the forecasted maps, which help if I want to travel to find clear skies nearby..Version: 6.3.4

Great AppI love the new smoke layer.Version: 5.0.0

Great app!To the point & Easy to use.Version: 3.1

10/10 for sureThey collect data from multiple sources and combine it into a median weather report that is pretty accurate.Version: 6.3.4

Excellent app for astronomyLiving in a city with moderate light pollution limits observing and astrophotography. Driving to a dark site is great - when the skies are clear and calm when you get there. And that’s the problem - how can weather through the evening be predicted accurately? I regularly use five apps to help predict the likelihood of a calm, clear night for astronomy. It is great when a majority give similar predictions, but often this does not happen. Over time, Astrospheric has become my “go to” app. I love the hourly cloud cover predictions and frequent updates. The core of what an observer or astrophotographer needs to make the decision to go or stay is clearly presented and most often correct. Many thanks to the developers!.Version: 6.2.5

Très pratique pour voir les nuagesMerci.Version: 6.3.4

Accurate! My go to for clear skies with my telescope..Version: 6.3.4

Great help with astrophotographyI’ve used this app for months and it’s level of accuracy has been impressive. I’m new to astrophotography and I’ve been able to plan productive nights with my telescope and this app..Version: 6.3.2

If the new used this app they might get the weather rightThis app is amazing. Not only can I see what the weather is going to do but I can also see what the light pollution in an area is like. I find this app useful for playing camping and adventure trips also..Version: 6.1.3

Excellent app for telescope observers! This has been very helpful and reasonably accurate as to sky conditions related to observing. I like the cloud cover map that I have trouble finding elsewhere. From the detailed hour by hour look at the next few days to the big picture forecast for the next week, I really like the features. Suggestions for improvement: have a way to save favorites locations, and the ability to zoom in on the map..Version: 6.3.2

SuperbeJe suis très heureux de ce logiciel...Version: 6.2.5

Perfect for my needsBeen using this app for several months. Highly accurate even a few days out. Only been one night it wasn’t, and even Accuweather showed it to be clear when there was 100% cloud coverage. Highly recommend..Version: 6.2.5

High magnification and wide fieldThis rating is for the app not the forecasts. While the forecasts are better for astronomy than most generic ones, a 5 star rating is not there yet. The app presents the forecasts in a clear and easily understood way. It gives a detailed hour by hour forecast for near term but a “wide field” less detailed view for the next week. This allows you to monitor potential astronomical conditions further in advance for planning. Results are presented graphically but a handy textural/numerical definition is adjacent for any selected hour. Sun and Moon elevation and rising and setting times are also shown. Don’t leave home for that long drive to the dark sky site without checking it..Version: 6.2.5

Essential Astro weather appA wonderful app!.Version: 6.3.4

A pretty nice tool for astronomersThis is an effective, accurate, and easy to use weather app for all of us astronomers... great tool to plan observing session....Version: 5.0.0

Avid Amateur AstronomerHave used this app as my go to for my viewing since I was made aware of it and it has has always been as accurate as possible, since weather prognostication is not an exact science. Thanks..Version: 6.3.4

An absolute must for observersI love this application. It’s a must for anyone that does sky observation or astrophotography. It’s the first application that I check in the morning. One of my essential tool..Version: 6.3.4

Awesome Astronomy Weather AppThis is by far my go to astrophotography weather app! The maps and predictions are both rich with data as well as accurate! Big hats off to the developer, thanks so much for creating this app!:).Version: 3.2

Excellent appsVery convenient to use and easy to understand, but the forecast is a bit aggressive, so after seeing a clear sky, I still double check other forecast to be sure..Version: 6.3.4

Wonderful appI use it everyday with Premium features. Very accurate predictions..Version: 8.0.1

A Must Have for Amateur AstronomersThe greatest variable in what you can hope to see under the stars is the weather. This app assembles all the factors most likely to affect viewing in one easy to understand graphic report. A great aid in helping me plan my observation plans. One of my most used apps..Version: 6.3.4

Best Astronomy Weather AppThis app has the best and most accurate weather for astronomy. It pulls in variables such as upper atmospheric conditions, smoke, and dust. Then it breaks it down into three categories, clouds, seeing and transparency so you can plan your evening on what objects to view. Includes site mode to show you lat/long coordinates for mount setup with accuracy reporting. Also displays moon cycle and phases. Best astronomy weather app..Version: 6.3.2

Powerful and easy to use!Interface has an amazing amount of data at a glance. An irreplaceable resource to help me figure out where and when I can shoot with my telescope..Version: 8.0.0

A must for stargazersI find this app a very helpful adjunct to other weather apps. The breakdown of each hour into % cloud cover, transparency, and seeing is particularly useful in planning and recording observing sessions.Version: 6.3.4

Clear skies guaranteedIf Astrospheric says clear skies, that’s what you get. Of course, if it says “Stay home and watch tv,” I do that instead! I use it constantly..Version: 6.3.4
