✓ Help us snow machine ridersI have used your web site for snowmachine (yes it’s snowmachine not snowmobile in Alaska) info for years. (Cloud cover and precipitation amount for visibility) it has been very helpful as cloud cover can vary from one mountain pass to the one next door. The problem is it’s hard to judge which pass your looking at with the blank background. If you could add a satellite overlay (or underlay maybe?) that would be amazing and make this the #1 weather app I believe. Maybe add a simple forecast page also for those who don’t want to spend the time..Version: 2.0
✓ Love this app and the website!I used the Ventusky website to track recent hurricanes. It was much more accurate than the Weather Channel without all the annoying drama and ads. This app and the website are beautiful and meditative data visualizations. Both provide a whole-earth view of the weather with fascinating comparative detail. Very glad I purchased the app. A few minor things for developers: 1) please provide a key to color in the app. 2) please provide either in-app explanations of weather terms or a link to a site with the definitions. 3) a week and/or month view with symbols would be nice. 4) default to US measurement based on location would be nice. ✓ Great app, but sometimes it doesn't work5 stars because I highly recommend it. By far the best tool I've seen for predicting the weather at very specific geographic locations. Much better than typical weather apps and pages. And, it provides all sorts of helpful additional detail. The app works even better than the website. But, there's a problem. Starting a few weeks ago, the app would not load on my iPad. It would start to load and then just die. My iPad is up to date and I've restarted it multiple times. Without the Ventusky app running, I cannot get support nor report a problem. The App Support button on the App store simply takes you to the website, which does not help. Fortunately, I guessed at a solution: Delete the app from the iPad, the install it again from the App Store. That worked. But users shouldn't have to go to that much trouble. ✓ Give accurate forecastVentusky gave me accurate information throughout Ian. The Networks were selling generators insisting it was destined for Orlando, Jacksonville etc. (populated areas) all while V had it correctly to Cape Canaveral. The news also claimed it was a cat 5 while at the same time saying top wind gusts of 126! It was bad no doubt but you need to know what to trust when in potential danger. ✓ A clean visualization of weather models and large scale weather patterns.I have been searching far and wide for an app that shows the HRRR precipitation model. This app does that and more in a very easy to use and visually appealing way. It’s obvious that the developer cares and is actually responding to feedback from customers and working hard to make it even better. ✓ Good app... but one gripeI really enjoy using this app for weather. It gives you a detailed look at tons of different variables and helps you better understand how the weather around you works. My biggest gripe is that I always accidentally tap off of my current location when I pan around the map. There are two ways I think this could be fixed. First, consider letting users choose between “tap” and “long press” on the map to set a new location. Second, instead of having to tap the search button and then current location, give us the ability to have a current location button always available on the map (just like Google Maps). This is such a frustrating experience for me when using the app and is the main reason I didn’t give this a 5/5..Version: 14.0.2
✓ Improvements NeededI am both a pilot and an astronomer. I do like the app as the winds are the most valuable aspect when preparing for a flight along with other pilot tools. However, there are no state or county boundary lines or other demarcations on the maps. So, you have to be extremely knowledgeable about the region and terrain under a thunderstorm or you’re just guessing as to its precise location. A weather app should be about preparation, not guessing. The Sun and Moon information doesn’t work at all and when it did appear once for me, the information for the date was incorrect. Other features are nice, but when it comes to needing up-to-the-minute radar, I’m going to have to stick with far better apps that afford professional services and pinpoint locations of storm systems, lightning and ground tracks. ✓ Best for land travel.I normally use Predict Wind since sail a bit. However I am traveling from CA to FL and can say that this app has been right on target with temp, precipation. I am camping my way across and have used this to successfully avoid the icy Texas Polar Express that had travel across TX nigh impossible at the moment. Hats off to the developers. Note have not used it on the water so can’t comment..Version: 24

There are better apps for weather-specific events eg it’s not as clear in identifying rain showers/intensity/duration (RainToday is brilliant for that), but the detail is really good. An explanation for the different types of map, within each option, would be helpful as I have to Google them and decide from that what settings I’d like. The real pain is that the functionality is still better on the website. One example, when in Precipitation, on the website I can see lightning strikes. In the app, I don’t even see lightning in the Thunderstorms option!! Go figure!!?.Version: 4.2

✓ Ventusky App Stopped Working on iPadA couple of weeks ago the Ventusky app on my iPad stopped working. When starting up the Ventusky app the opening screen would appear and the disappear straight away. If I delete the app and then reload from the cloud it works the first time it is run then on second attempt to run reverts back to disappearing again. If I double click the home button on my iPad to show what apps are running it is still running but on selecting it it immediately disappears from the screen again. Strange thing is, it works ok on my wife’s iPad. Same thing happened on the Hikvision App a few weeks ago and again it worked on my wife’s iPad. Then Hikvision fixed whatever was causing this problem and from then on it worked on my iPad. Could you please look into this problem and fix it as Hikvision did as I cannot use the app until you fix it. I suspect it is probably due to some iOS update but so strange it still works on my wife’s iPad with same iOS version running..Version: 18

✓ Incredibly valuableAs a private pilot, I love this app. It gives an incredibly valuable overview of how the air is moving, and how it’s expected to change. The visual display gives you an intuitive sense that’s hard to get any other way. It also shows details, like patches of winds you might not anticipate from a Surface Analysis, METARs, TAFs, or winds aloft. Other layers like temps, air pressure, Thunderstorms and freezing levels also help build your understanding of the day’s conditions. And it’s fun to look at big picture stuff all around the world. Two minor complaints: Value numbers can be impossible to read against dark colored areas like storms, and don’t increase in size when you zoom in. Wind streak lines are a bit short. I find that this app is a better and more reliable source than most weather reporting. Rob is the only weather guy on television that my wife won’t let me talk when he’s on. ✓ Visualize the WeatherI prefer weather maps to tables of weather data. I like to see how weather systems and pressure systems are moving over time. Ventusky provides map layers for temperature, wind speed, precipitation, and more. Being able to see the animated wind currents allows me to understand the weather patterns wherever I am. Plus, seeing the “L” and “H” markers for low- and high-pressure systems is incredibly informative. The animated wind currents flowing into and out of those systems even helped my kids understand what low- and high-pressure systems *are*..Version: 22

However, the metrogram is a little small and hard to read on iPhones. The interface is good and the rending of the layers is crisp and fast. The recent addition of the widget is welcome as well. However, the said widget has one bug. When there is a high wind warning it displays the wind gusts out to a insane number of decimal places. ✓ Overall very useful and great visualizations, use of data. But there is a data issue.I use the app frequently as we are at an altitude where wind can be a concern. Being able to see wind speed at various altitudes helps greatly. Just one thing: there’s a bug in the app when I happened to tap on the farthest day out (current day + 7, last three times of the day) where the shown wind speed jumps up to 230mph for all locations. Clearly this is a null data problem and not really an issue for normal use of the app. Just wanted to flag it so the developer can add it to the bug list. Which is my only other issue with the app: the developer has many obstacles to getting in touch, providing feedback, etc. I’m posting this info here in App Store feedback as I’m hoping the developer is bothering to check this feedback. ✓ Phenomenal app, one minor annoyanceThe functionality of the app is excellent, I use it constantly. I just wish that when I drop a pin (for example, on my house) the pin stayed there. Instead merely tapping the screen somewhere moves it. If we could input and save a “home address” (and possibly additional addresses, since we might want to track vacation properties, grandparents homes, etc) this app would then be PERFECT. After recent extremely cold winds it occurred to me that the one feature to make this perfect would be the addition of wind chill temperature. I have been using the Ventusky app for at least a decade now it has been my experience that the Ventusky app is just as accurate as any of the NOAA weather reports, because Ventusky gets their same reports from the same models that NOAA uses. It is real important, living on the coast to track the storms and be able to prepare, and Ventusky kept me from having my vehicle flooded during October 2018 when the remains of hurricane Michael passed over us and exited land above Virginia Beach. The only small criticism I have is that there is no on screen key to show, for example, the values in mph that the colours represent. If you go to the VentuSky website there is this facility so why can it not be incorporated into the App? Even if it was not on screen all the time and accessible from a button that would be a help. ✓ Great replacement for MeteoEarthI’ve used the now discontinued MeteoEarth for several years to help visualising “big picture” weather patterns, as well as to extract specific values at different locations. Ventusky is proving to be a very worthy replacement. The visualisations of weather across the globe are very useful, with the added ability to select which model to use for the data. In addition, data seems to cache well if needing to store forecast snapshots for offline use (which is important for me as a pilot). My only suggestion for improvement would be to include the ECMWF model if at all possible..Version: 18

However the numbers and colors you post for Ozone levels are out and out fear mongering. We have an active ozone monitor just out side of Boulder, CO and comparing the official numbers to the app and web site postings is laughable. ✓ Fun and informativeI don’t need to see what the weather patterns in Czechoslovakia are but it’s fun to be able to. It is pretty cool to look at the wind currents throughout the world and see how it affects your particular neck of the woods. I like that this is much more in-depth than you’re a typical app. For instance I have heard that there was a big storm coming to the west coast of the United States and it was not something that was notable on a regular weather app but looking here I could see what was on its way..Version: 16.1.2

✓ Wind Animation?A very good weather app which is fun to use and also very customisable and I like the recent updates to the interface. I would love to be able to customise the wind animation further though. At present you can change the speed, colour and visibility (to a degree), but, it would be very helpful to be able to reduce the volume of animation arrows as they overcrowd the map, forcing me to switch it off completely. It's a great idea to be able to view the wind speed and direction but it would be nice to be able to adjust it to look similar to how it is sometimes seen on TV weather forecasts, to just a handful of arrows if you prefer, to prevent them taking centre stage over the whole map view. He should have used this App and then he would not have ended up remembered for one of the biggest blunders ever. ✓ Really the Best Weather AppI’ve used a couple of other weather apps in the past and they were just okay. Dark Sky was my favorite but Apple just rolled their algorithm into their not great app. I used Ventusky for the cloud forecast info for astronomy for a bit, but have started to use it for all of the other features - and wow!! The weekly temperature forecast is great, as well as AQI and sunrise/set. It is so helpful to have all this info in one place. The only supplement I use is NOAA’s forecast info for a broad overview of the weather coming up and alerts/notifications of severe weather. Otherwise Ventusky is all you need..Version: 23.1

✓ Pretty solid - Could be improvedTo start off, I’ll say that I like the app. I’m a pilot, so having some detailed information about the weather is something I usually keep in my pocket and this app does that well. For US users, it could be improved. For winds aloft, it would be nice to choose statue mph and nautical mph. For US users, it would be nice to have state outlines in the map. As it is, it’s a challenge to get a big picture of weather systems because as you zoom out to see each system, you lose reference to the specific geographic location. Having state outlines would be very helpful. For US users, and this is probably my #1 issue with the app, is having the winds aloft being presented in meters. Changing the unit in the settings does not change the winds aloft in the map. You have to choose 3500 meters if you want to see what the winds are like around 11,500 ft. Very annoying. But it’s a great app and I hope they improve it. I’d like to be able to recommend it to other pilots. 4 stars from me. iPhone X / IOS 11.4.1 / runs well.Version: 5.0

✓ So close to perfectionI have been waiting for a weather app like this for ages. One that combines slick animations with reliable data. However, i’m desperate for the developers to implement two key features. Firstly, the app desperately needs a quick way to change the forecast to the current date and time. I constantly find myself browsing the week ahead but then then there’s no way quick way to go back to the current forecast. Secondly, it would be incredible if there could be a little information bubble on the map (over the location selected) that displays nice large text with information about the metric selected on the map for the current date/time at that location. At the moment your eyes are forced to jump up and down to read the forecast at the bottom whilst viewing the visualisation on the map - Im aware that the map does have the relevant metric written at regular intervals on the map already, but the text is tiny and its often not written directly by the location selected..Version: 2.1

✓ Great visualisations but...The sunrise and sunset times for New Zealand are out by an hour. ✓ Good App But Room For Some ImprovementsThis is a great app with fantastic maps and detailed comprehensive information and forecasting. I do however wish for just a few improvements that would set this app at the very top!... 1) Easy Way To Navigate Quickly Back To Present Time/Conditions - Scrolling through the timeline you can easily lose yourself and it’s very difficult to revert back to current present conditions. You can force quit the app and re-start to achieve this, but that’s not the point. 2) Daily Summary - Would be great to easily see if the weather will be “mostly cloudy” or “scattered showers”, at the moment there’s no way of knowing quickly what the day will bring. Similarly there’s no quick way to find a summary of conditions through the week. Takes ages to find what the weather might be like next week for instance, you have to go to great lengths scrolling through the timeline and intense studying of every day. 3) MacOS App - Please bring a dedicated Ventusky app to the Mac OS!.Version: 6.0

✓ Love itCame from “myradar” after that went downhill. Found the website, which is awesome, that led me here. Had an issue with the app not showing the forecast, coincidentally this is while a co-worker was trying tp get some customer service from cricket wireless. After a few hours of my coworker trying to resolve a fairly simple issue I sent am email to Ventusky. They responded with an hour with the solution to my problem. My coworker never got her issue fixed. The funny part is how a weather company in Chzecslacavia was able to resolve my issue quickly, while cricket wireless couldn't figure put how to get a subscriber to navigate their website.
