I wanted to start using another Weibo app similar to Weibo, but I don’t know the phone number I used to register for a Weibo account years ago when I first came to China. After 2 hours with customer service (using my broken Chinese because they have no English service or instructions), I was informed that the only way to authenticate my account and re-bind a new phone number was to provide a Chinese ID card number (which I don’t have clearly as a foreigner). Customer service then apologized since I can no longer use any Weibo apps until maybe sometime in the future they allow authentication with passport numbers. Very disappointed..Version: 11.4.2

I entered my number but later time when it asked SMS verification again, my account couldn’t be verified because of the format and I guess it got sent to some number in China, so I lost the account and I stopped using it.
