✓ BrilliantThis app is fantastic the colours are amazing and the choice of colours is endless. The dry brush is awesome for blending. I have been doing most of my art with my finger so far and it is similar to blending pastels without the mess. You can get many different affects. Looking forward to getting a stylus pen to add even more creativity. I love my art but as I work full time I have found this a great way to create pieces without having to set up my equipment and clean up after. Best of all you can do it anywhere. ✓ Love the appI've been using this app for about two years & I love it. I just got the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil. The Pencil works well with the app, even with an otterbox defender case on it. I would ask the developers if they could add a palm rejection feature so I can rest my palm on the writing surface without leaving marks. And a ruler, like they have in Apple Notes would be great. Thanks The developers got back to me and told me how in the gestures menu, you can set it so only the Apple Pencil leaves Any strokes. I'm pleased to say that it works great! ✓ Flexible, Easy to Use, impressive resultsHave used earlier version for a year or so. New version is even better, does what it says on the tin and is slicker and easier to use. Tools range has improved and practice has honed my technique to allow very satisfying results. Have recommended to several other users. I occasionally import photos to aid sketching, it would be nice to be able to then remove/delete the photo whilst retaining the sketch. ✓ Good choice!Just got my iPad and the first thing I did was to look for a painting app. I had read that David Hockney uses Brushes for his paintings and is going to have an exhibition of them in London soon, with dozens of IPads on the walls apparently. So I was all set to get Brushes too. Not that I will ever aspire to get anywhere near his skills...Then I started reading people reviews and some people reckoned that the blending options of Inspire are fab. I have nothing to compare with but from what I have seen so far the blending IS amazing and it is exactly what I was looking for. ✓ Super easy - great toolThere are still a few minor bugs but they are very few and far between and don’t cause any major issues. ✓ Love it but missing one key featureLayers. You can’t have a serious drawing app without layers. I love this app because it’s incredibly realistic and I love that you can paint and blend like you could in real life but that’s part of the problem. When you try to paint backgrounds, it’s great. But anything else? That’s when it gets hard. I would like to see layers because when you try to blend other things besides the background it blends into the background wether you like it or not. If you had layers you could just create another layer and not have your paint blend into anything that’s not in that layer. Other than that, though, the app is great. Blending is always so difficult in most of these digital apps, but this is very close to the feel of real paint. ✓ Just purchasedAfter many years of using Brushes I decided to try a new painting app. My hope wasthat I’d find one with a better variety of brush textures that could simulate real oil saint in all of it’s messy viscosity. That’s why I chose Inspire Pro, largely based on the reviews. The paint handling simulation is very impressive from what I can see (I’m only a day in at this point) and the app is super fast and responsive. I was a bit taken aback to find out that there were no layers. But I’m adjusting. One of the reasons I abandoned Brushes was that it was failing to evolve as an app. In fact, I believe it’s been abandoned by it’s creators. ✓ Just like brush and canvasIf your are an artist working with paint and wish to do this digitally - then this is the art app for you. It differs from the Brushes app and the Sketchbook Pro app in that this is more like real life painting... meaning that there are no layers with this art app like there are with Brushes and Sketchbook Pro. Unlike the other apps however there is the option to blend and smudge, which is much more involved task within the other two mentioned art apps. This therefore makes this app simple and easy to use without having to watch numerous tutorials on how to use it. Of course if you like various brushes and effects (similar to Paintshop Pro) along with building layers, then maybe this isn't the app for you..Version: 1.2

As with other apps, would be an improvement if you were able to save and restore several different colour palettes. Having just the one, as with other apps is a shame. Floating palette and larger colour swatches on saved palette would help too. But this is a superb app as it is. ✓ Absolutely Marvellous!!I can't paint, but after installing this app I suddenly can. For a noob like me it has got me past the fear of the brush because there's an undo! The controls are so intuitive, most things are but one poke away and it's so immersive I keep feeling that I need to wash the paint off my fingers!! The ability to blend with the dry bush is awesome and the quick toggle for it, plus the ability to select colour directly from the canvas, means you rarely have to take your focus away. All other controls are no more than a single menu deep. By not bothering with things like layers and other "helpful" tools it actually puts you more in the zone, there is not even an eraser, you just get the white paint out! It means there is less to think about, less clutter and zero frustration from fighting with complex and fiddly tools. It results in a much more real experience, it's just you and a brush. It's not just a good idea, it's a good idea that has been well implemented and well presented..Version: 1.2

✓ StunningI am a digital artist and have tried most of the art software out there available for iPad. I have been using Brushes consistently since I bought my iPad, and have found it smooth and suitable for my art style. However, the blending and paint effects on this are like nothing I have experienced. Artrage, an app highly admired for its realistic paint look, has nothing in comparison. The paint may look more real when you apply it, and it's a good gimmick, but the quality of art possible to achieve is not as good as this. Blending options are plentiful and work well. When zooming in, the pixels where blurred and the paint brush got no smaller, which would have been useful for more detailed work. Blurring of brush strokes very good and realistic! Request for review came v early on, had only done second painting! I looked for spray can, and I like to do drawing too. But I am new to the iPad painting. Previous experience is using (old) Corel draw package, which is great for cleaning up scanned in artwork and using a big machine. The eraser tool could be incorprated w brush pallette, or as an icon. Good fun and brilliant for on site sketching. Ps, I agree about lack of instructions after initial loadinjg. ✓ Magnificent SimplicityInspirePro is a really beautiful app and to reviewers who suggest the absence of layers, text and other bells and whistles is a deficit, I would have to disagree. There are other painting apps out there with that kind of functionality. Painters before the digital age didn't have ready-made special effects, layers and multiple undo's. They painted. They managed. InspirePro is special because it provides a digital painting experience that is most analogous to the real thing. A small range of excellent tools, a simple and inconspicuous interface that truly gets out of the way and can be re-summoned as individual panels, rather than having to be bombarded with the entire interface when only a minor brush or color adjustment has to be made. As too many cooks can spoil the broth, too many options can impede the creative experience. InspirePro's simplicity lets you play and paint and watch indescribably gorgeous things happen with colors and simulated brushstrokes. What it does, it does extremely well. The Drybrush function is in a class of it's own. You even forget for a time that it's all digital. Excellent painting app. Especially if you've ever used real media..Version: 1.3

✓ Wonderful, versatile art appThis is not the art program you want to hand to your un-artistic mate to try out doodling with. This is an app that you will create art with. It's an absolute pleasure to work with. It comes with a bunch of preset brushes that are vastly customisable, and you can purchase additional more specialised ones if you so desire, also. The interface is graceful and straightforward. The "eyedropper" type colour selector is great; alternately, you can select colours from a traditional colourwheel&sliders. Colour blending and smudging using the "dry brush" tool is a real treat. And a generous number of Undo levels is much appreciated. I also appreciate the variety of easy output options: saving in various formats, emailing, dropbox, flickr, and so on. The only thing I'd really add would be some layer functionality, so that I could easily add backgrounds under artwork and work on the various layers separately without directly affecting the others. ✓ Found what I'm Looking ForNow this is what I'm talking about. I spend most of my days up to my elbows in real paint . . And here we have something pretty close to the real thing. Having waited to buy my first iPad until now, it has been a steep learning curve this week, plus a few disappointing starts with several other painting/drawing apps before instinctively settling in with Inspire Pro. I welcome it's simplicity and lack of layers and now that I have found Inspire Pro, I can foresee making good use of the iPad working fast in the changing light out in the landscape gathering sketchbook material. To have the high resolution export facility is it's other main attraction since, like most painters, there is still the need to go to press sometimes. It's not all new media in the fine art world. So for any 'fine art' newcomers looking for advice, I'd recommend the intuitive Inspire Pro. Painterly marks, colour mixing, colour sampleing plus simple options and high res export (download the Inspire Exporter to your receiving device to be able to have high res files) make it a winner. Unlike other apps, it won't help you to draw. It won't enhance your marks unlike 53's charming Paper App which only makes marks in a particular style and is the visual equivalent of covering a song IMHO..Version: 1.3

✓ A go-to app👍Was always able to walk away from the digital art thing, it was always too jarring a difference from convention. This was the first app I tried that blurred the line enough to feel seamless. There’s no lag, and it’s more fluid than the other big apps. Coupled with the Apple Pencil, it’s a very realistic experience. The interface is minimalist and welcomed by me having tried way too many apps that feel like operating the hadron collider. Most of the screen is free to create, and making changes is simple and intuitive. The dry brush is pretty incredible, and lifelike. Quick and easy to jump in, pick up or leave off...it makes for a very pleasant use of time. I occasionally use others, but have found this to be the “hub” of my iPad. Everything inspire offers it does very well, extending all the way to customer service. The developer is always there quickly if you need assistance, and is as pleasant as they are helpful. Lots of fun, and usually the only frustration is my pencil running low on power..Version: 3.6.3
✓ Good Value, Crashes Too MuchThe free version is pretty useful, and there are some worthwhile paid brushes. Would be five stars, but it crashes frequently (on a brand new iPad Pro, so it’s not a hardware issue) and takes a long time to do it. Luckily it autosaves constantly so lost work is not an issue. But, at 69p, I couldn't resist buying inspire Pro as well. And I'm really glad I did. I'm so impressed I haven't gone back to Brushes since. The pencil tool is not as dark as I would like, even with the brush opacity settings turned up and modifying the Apple Pencil pressure curve. This app while I can see how experts would be excited about it,is the only one so far that has captured my imagination. It is so easy to work out,so helpful in guiding you and the extras are just amazing. I have done things to my photos that were unthinkable before this app come along. ✓ Seriously FunI've only been playing with Inspire Pro for a few hours so far, but it has my heart pounding pretty hard with excitement. I love how you can choose between realistic and non-realistic paint depending on what effect you're going for, and the ease and speed you get with the use of the hotspots as opposed to drop-down menus. But what really leaves me ready to scream with joy is the way you can use the dry brush to soften or smudge edges and details, blend colors seamlessly, and even pick up color from previously painted areas. ✓ Worth every penny!One of the reasons I bought an iPad 3 was so I could use it for creating digital artwork and sketching character ideas. I've tried a couple different art apps such as those offered by big companies such as Adobe and Autodesk, but Inspire Pro is the one that gets my vote. It's simple interface means I don't lose my flow fidgeting around menus. The app very responsive and the blending/ dry brush feature allows for some beautiful effects, and does a really great job of emulating a real paintbrush. I hope the developer is not tempted to add extra fancy effects in the future - this apps strength is in its simplicity. It is truly a joy to use. ✓ FantasticThis app is nothing short of brilliant! As I used to paint on canvas with oils many years ago and don't have the room or the time to do so anymore this has opened up a whole new level. The technique and methods are just the same as using real oil paints and the effects you can do are awesome. Have also tried procreate but in my experience this is much better. ✓ Very inspiring,but.Very good app, as many others have said and asked for more layers I don't agree, it should be kept as one with the exception of the canvas, which brings me to my issue with this app, when using the dry brush it runs in to the canvas colour which is a problem if your brushing from canvas to paint, this should be a fixed canvas with a fixed choice of colour. Would also be nice for the brush size to auto change with the zoom amount for finer detail. The charcoal which comes as extra from the in app purchase section doesn't work correctly, don't know why ?. I have a few other issues but all in all this is a very inspiring app, very usable and enjoyable and not once have I wanted to open another layer. One more thing (talking about layers) any chance of one layer being added and dedicating it to importing pictures for tracing and making it invisible to the time lapse movie. Cheers..Version: 3.0.1

The sample color picker is turned on by holding the brush down in one place and a star shaped color picker come up. Just move the star to the color you want to pick to copy that color from the picture or painting. I like the gallery implantation of all your paintings. When I pulled the trigger, I was initially disappointed because, unlike similar apps, there are no layers. But I realized that this could be to my advantage once I started thinking like a painter. Layers are convenient and sometimes necessary, yes, but without them, it felt like more of an organic experience. I had to really think about what I was doing, be more prepared and take more risks. The paint blending with the dry brush is fantastic and really gives a feeling of realism to the process! It would be useful to have that as a quicker toggle feature on screen as a hotspot I think!? Ok so its brilliant, but it could be better!...Although layers are not included in this, I think it would be a useful feature to add, since even an oil painter let's his background dry before adding further details, and this would be the best way to implement this so blending between a foreground item and background is prevented!? The export to Facebook etc could do with options on the compression amount since the stuff I have sent loses so much of the subtle paint detail and becomes quite artefacted!? Having the colour palette remember your last half a dozen colours would be really useful! Cant wait for the retina res improvements (I'm on an ipad3)!
