The World HD for Positive User Reviews

My Go To App for Travel or Just Good InformationBeen using this app for years. All good current information; I don't know what the complaints are about. Sure, more details are available, but for a quick update, this app is best..Version: 3.6

World hadVery pleased with app. Although it doesn't even name Florida for instance it is quite comprehensive..Version: 3.3

Worth the moneyA very good App, a lot of information and easy (and fun!) to use. I would like to see a search function for finding cities and towns on the maps..Version: 2.2

ExcellentA superb off-line world atlas that uses very little memory space..Version: 4.0

World atlasFirst class app really really good, only £2.39.Version: 2.3

Nice maps!I've been looking for an app with useful maps that did not require an internet connection....this has been a long time coming. Finally, maps that have a level of detail that makes them useful! I have one suggestion: It would be lovely to expand search so I could look up a city, lake, river etc and be directed to the right country. I imagine this would be a significant undertaking in terms of compiling and indexing the data...but it would be quite handy. Thanks for doing a nice job. I'm sorry to hear that people have been submitting inappropriate reviews..Version: 2.2

Greatest App for World Politics FanI've used this app for several years as a reference while reading the newspaper and books. It is excellent and always accurate. Henry.Version: 3.6

Great for Free!Very excellent map and also free app..Version: 0

Almost perfect. This is a really useful atlas and world fact book. I find myself using it both for specific travel planning purposes as well as helping obtain background on breaking world events. I particularly enjoy the ability to use it when not connected to the internet. The huge download is worth it from that perspective. I would give it the full five stars but for one niggling problem. Almost every time I launch the app it misfires and returns to the iPad home screen. Second attempt to launch always works and it recovers nicely. I really enjoy this program and highly recommend it. Keep up the good work!.Version: 2.2

ExcellentFirst few minutes of use I thought I had wasted my money. Pinched the map of the uk to zoom in and was disappointed to see hardly any detail. What I didn't realise was that you can select individual countries and that country's map is then re rendered in high detail ! Excellent app !.Version: 3.3

Ridiculous review writingI am 70 years old, thank you fellow- reviewer, and have several degrees and I LOVE THIS!.Version: 3.6

Very good country informationMaps are not detailed enough. Is there an updated version?.Version: 3.5

Great AppGreat general app for browsing and some useful facts.Version: 3.6

World HDThis app makes finding basic information about a country dead easy. It's up to date and very useful for teaching Geography classes when you need that handy fact at your fingertip..Version: 0

My favourite appI use this app daily. It's not perfect but it is useful and easy to use. Railways would be useful but for the price it's very good indeed. Good that it works offline. Many thanks..Version: 3.6

Very UsefulVery useful. I don’t care, personally, for the typestyle, but I use the app just about every day for world events..Version: 4.5

Perfection!!!!Perfect app and complements my other geographic apps perfectly. Beautiful job!!! Exactly what I wanted and needed in a map and geographic information!! Runs so smoothly!!! I LOVE this app. I don't have room for many of my apps, but no matter how little space I have, I will not give up this app. I am learning a ton, and the maps are GORGEOUS!!!!.Version: 3.3

Great AtlasJust tap on the country for an in depth offline map with plenty of supporting data. A must for any traveller..Version: 3.6

Solid AtlasWell designed. Use it all the time. Great for the price..Version: 3.6

Essential purchaseThis is a very well conceived and executed reworking of a standard atlas for the small screen, with the advantages that touch control can bring. A world atlas is an obvious must-have reference tool for tablets and phones, but a category which in the main is poorly served. Some of the more ambitious world atlases that I purchased in the past (National Geographic, Collins) have failed to update. This one fills the gap. It is more straightforward and no less informative. From the world map (choice of political or physical) to a zoomable country map in a tap, and from there to detailed and extensive data, organised systematically. No adverts, no extra charges. Info pages on the app itself. My only criticism is one that often applies to paper atlas: big countries get less detail that small ones..Version: 4.0

Excellent AppSimply the perfect general knowledge travel app..Version: 3.2

ExcellentWorking my way around the world from my sitting room and doing it first class all the way thanks to this incredibly good world map.Version: 3.3

Great appOne of the best value Atlas and fact books out there. We'll done.Version: 3.5

Fantastic!!I got this free but if i had known what I was getting I would have paid £2.99 for it happily, it really is that good. It's user interface is easy to navigate and the amount of information available is amazing. It's all downloaded onto your iPad so you don't need a wifi connection to use it. Information ranges from GDPs of countries to population stats and poverty stats, export information an the history of the country. It's basically like having an atlas with all of the information from wiki available. Easily worth the standard price of 59p or £1.19. Highly recommend, worth the long download..Version: 0

World HDPretty Good App. I use it frequently. Colours are nice, detail about right for overview. Text boxes are not very useful, could be improved..Version: 3.3

Great appThis is a good set of maps for learning geography & great for following along while watching international news. Don't give them a bad rating. If you want details, just click in the nation. If you want street details, then buy a garmin or city/state map..Version: 3.6

Excellent App.I like this handy world atlas on my iPad. It is has clear HD maps which are well marked without over cluttering. It is well worth the money..Version: 3.6

World hdExcellent Quick référence tool..Version: 4.5

The World HDJe trouve ca dommage que vous n' ayez pas une version francaise de cette application. Merci !.Version: 0

The only atlas I could find that doesn’t need to stream online.I’m a pilot, I fly all over the world, and there’s nothing like having a good proper atlas to to see where’s where and so on. I think this app is excellent. I particularly like the fact it’s downloaded and thus can be used off line - for obvious reasons in my case, 🙂, but I use it at home too. I’d recommend it to everyone..Version: 4.5

GreatI love this im a student in sec 1 very easy to use love it ! :).Version: 3.3

Mr RoseExcellent app, informative, educational, easy to use. highly recommended.Version: 2.2

Decent appNothing fancy. Nice and crisp country maps. Can’t complain..Version: 4.5

Super AtlasOne of the "check this out!" apps I show people who haven't used an iPad. It's a first rate atlas, just like the one in our bookshelf, but with even better maps. Plus it has the CIA fact book for every country. The interface is cool (touch a country to see its map) and is easy to pick up and use, in fact I often open it while watching TV. You can't navigate a car or an airplane with the maps, but their authentic atlas look is the best for seeing where places are located. Highly recommended!.Version: 3.2

Needs moreNeeds to have counties in the states. At least. This could be easily added in an update..Version: 4.0

Simple mais efficaceBonne application qui fait ce pourquoi elle a été développée. Rien de fancy mais efficace et robuste comme application..Version: 4.5

An excellent appGreat detail, works offline, contains the CIA Factbook, what more could you want? Best atlas app I have used, well worth it..Version: 3.2

Best Atlas Available for iOSThis truly is the bst Atlas available on iOS. Stunning visuals, great details and love the fact that you can switch between terrain maps and political maps. Also, CIA/Wikipedia facts are a great addition. If you’re into Atlases, this one is a must!.Version: 3.6.6

Great AtlasExcellent vector map w a fine level of detail when zooming in. Need explanation of what the colors signify in terms of topography. A Legend would be helpful. Otherwise very pleased w app..Version: 3.6

ExcellentI am in International Pilot and this App has replaced my paper Atlas. Broadband at 35,000' is not an option, so having the maps stored in memory is essential. The sidebar information is a really elegant piece of work, even though I really don't use it. Of course I would like to see more detail open up as you zoom in, but you can't have everything. Overall an excellent App for idling away the time looking out the window of my office. Well worth much more money..Version: 2.3

Very happy with itBest I’ve found on the App Store. Appreciate there are a few small limitations, but if you need more detail, use Google Maps etc. This is fantastic for an offline atlas!.Version: 4.5

Fab appThis is one of the best apps I have ever seen in the app store. The information it gives is superb and the fact I got it for free is incredible, I would happily have paid for this if I had known about it before. My son who is 7 is looking at it all the time which is great from an educational point of view. 5 stars all the way!!.Version: 0

Professional MapsAs a USAF pilot I love maps and am always on the lookout for good ones. This app contains the BEST MAPS on the iPad. Period. The maps were drawn by GeoAtlas and are beautiful and professional-quality. They are up-to-date (including South Sudan) and they show all the geographic features and all but the smallest hamlets in every country and island. Also, they are all built-in. In addition to the maps, the World Fact Book is built-in as well as Wikipedia for each country. These are great sources of info, possibly the best, for understanding the history and current situation in a country. The interface is my favorite part of the app. You just touch a country to view it. The fact book is like a deck of cards, making it easy to find a section. Overall, this app is built to be used and I can tell a lot of care went into the design..Version: 3.2

ExcellentThis is an atlas not a street map. It does what it is very well. The supporting information is very comprehensive. There is a place search and the individual country detail is very good. I find it invaluable in completing general information crossword puzzles..Version: 4.5

Great AtlasI love this app. Every time I scratch my head and think 'where' this Atlas comes to the rescue. It's a 'must have' app for everyone. Great for teaching kids about the world too although a Globe is more fun. Well done guys and keep it up please..Version: 3.6

A wonderful atlasI have been using this atlas for a couple years of college. It's good and I have no problems with the speed or details like some other reviewers. You really can't compare it to other atlases for the iPad since NONE of them have vector maps. These are in a class by themselves. If you are a geographer, you know what I mean. If you are looking for a good atlas, this one will not disappoint..Version: 3.3

Simple mais peut-être trop simple.Le passionné de géographie restera sur sa faim mais le néophyte appréciera la simplicité. Application en langue anglaise seulement..Version: 4.5

Fantastic AppMy go-to app for world geography. I have become obsessed with Worldle and use this app all the time to learn more about the countries I’m identifying through playing that game. Really lovely to look at and easy to use. My one (minor) issue is that the search function takes me to a list of countries from which I select the one I’m interested in; I can’t see a way of searching for a specific city or other feature, although this might just be my incompetence! The graphics are beautifully rendered and the information really useful. Thank you!.Version: 4.5

Good atlas, clear displayI was looking for a replacement for another world atlas app I’ve been using. It had become dumbed down over the past year or so and I found this. It works well. Easy to quickly find countries and to get more detail about them with a tap on the screen. Maps are displayed very clearly when you zoom in. Happy to have found this app. Hope it’s updated often to reflect global changes. The link to Wikipedia works well too..Version: 3.6.6

School Super Tool!I use this app extensively while teaching geography and world affairs. I wish we had more tools like this in the school. Being able to hold a map of this quality and then zoom into it, seeing the countries which border each other, then facts about them while still viewing the map, is pure teaching magic! The interactive map engages the students to explore the globe and draws them in to learning more. I have never seen a teaching tool as good as this. Geography and world affairs is now their favorite part of the day (it was challenging) and their knowledge level has jumped forward..Version: 3.2

Fantastic appThis is a really great atlas and probably the best there is for international pilots since we want the big picture..Version: 4.0

Missing KeyThere doesn’t seem to be a key as to what various symbols mean..Version: 4.5

Update requiredGreat app but needs to be updated for iOS 11.Version: 3.6

Derek76Just what I was looking for -- a fast-loading atlas that is with me off-line, so is available whenever I need it. I particularly like the simple zoom feature using the usual Apple on-screen gestures. I can improve my knowledge of countries and regions, and the location of cities within seconds, or take longer by reading the useful data provided in the side panels provided with each map. I really am very impressed. It is well worth the money to me..Version: 3.3

One of the best for off line viewingLove the details even in offline mode and has lots of interesting information about countries. Keep up the good work and make it even better perhaps..Version: 3.6

The Best Atlas on the App Store!I use this app constantly in my political science class as a teaching tool. When we are discussing a foreign country it helps to bring this up to give the students a frame of reference. The maps and data are the best I've seen and I've tried them all. The maps are atlas quality (I'm sure I've seen them before, but not sure which printed atlas) and they work better than Google maps which have more detail but are really hard to use as a reference since large cities and small cities just mix together with the same small text. I see some negative reviews here about the maps, but I can't imagine what they are expecting. These maps are very good! The CIA factbook and Wikipedia let us drill down into the details and are up to date. Since our textbook is a couple years old, I often go here to check information. I really like the data cards interface - very quick and easy to use. I was surprised when I accidentally touched on the Canary Islands, which isn't a country, and up came the info on it too! It's very comprehensive. Overall just an outstanding ap!!!.Version: 2.3

Excelent AppExcellent app which is light years ahead of the competitors. Slick user interface and detailed maps. My only criticism is that it is very memory hungry. Crashes frequently when loading maps, although this can be cured by rebooting the device. Recommended..Version: 0

Excellent for the newsIf you are looking for maps to follow the world news, this works great..Version: 3.6

Decent atlas - read the tips in the Info section top rightIn a field that seems astoundingly thin - iPad and iPhone atlases - “The World HD” is a refreshing stand out. Clear, crisp and easy to navigate..Version: 4.5

Excellent geopolitical atlas, fit for purposeI’ve searched for many and this is the best for general use. If more detail is required then there’s Apple and google maps that are complementary and serve completely separate needs..Version: 4.5

ExcellentA really good and clever app. Well worth the cost and especially clever for the I pad..Version: 2.3

Great General Purpose AtlasGood Atlas for taking away since all content is offline. Good facts for each country too. Will be useful on my cruise holidays. Useful on my latest trip to Iceland. I don't think you can beat this product..Version: 3.6

One of my favorite iPad apps.Of all the iterations of the CIA World Factbook I like this one the best. Maps and layout look good on the iPad. Update 12 Jun 12.......still one of my favorite iPad apps. Yes, maps are high resolution and render a little slow on the new iPad, that's a lot of pixels. Of course there's not enough map detail to go driving...that's not what it's for. It's perfect for the presentation of basic maps and CIA World Factbook data. 6 stars if I could. Update Oct 14......still love it. Hope it continues to be updated......Version: 3.5

Offline AtlasFabulous app & the offline ability makes it very useful on flights.Version: 3.2

SuzieGreat app - however would like to see a search function to find towns and cities.Version: 3.2

FinallyThe atlas I have been waiting for..Version: 4.5

Great atlasOffline map of the world and a map of each country together with lots of information. Great..Version: 4.5

What I was looking for...If you're looking for a flat globe type image that shows all world locations connected, then this will work just fine. I found other maps, but most were sectioned off by continents. This app provides a full connected world view that can be expanded, scrolled across as well as up and down to view how all locations are connected without having to stop and go to a different set of maps to locate an adjoining area..Version: 4.0

SuperbOne of the best iPad apps I've came across. Great for dipping in and out of with the kids. One of the few apps to remain outside a folder since the iPad OS upgrade..Version: 0

ElJefitoDosTerrific! I'm some sort of atlas freak. Have two or three others on my iPad. This one tops them all. It's easy to use. Colourful. Maps are excellent. The in-built fact book has info of the type seen in a fair number of other apps, but here, in this app, it is very well organised, easy to access and read. You always take a punt on iPad / Pod / Phone apps (given that you usually cannot try before you buy) -- your money's good on this one. Trust me. Go for it!.Version: 3.6

Great app for world info junkies! Its for sure the best app of its kind in the App Store. Far better than the world factbook for iPad. The ability to pan through the map and to select a specific country is great. You dont have to know the name of the country. You just look at the map, recognize the country and after you tap it, you get all CIA based info. Its great!!! Highly recommended! And it's just 99 cents!.Version: 0

Nice little programWorks like I wanted, just like an Alta's! Nice having the info bar..Version: 3.6

Solid App at the Right PriceQuick to load and access, lots of detail, and no online access required. Definitely going to be my go-to world map from now on..Version: 4.5

Average seniorWe love this app. Able to locate and read about places we read about, or hear about, or see on TV..Version: 4.0

UsefulVery easy and quick to use. Great app..Version: 3.3

Great for traveling!!This app is an essential part of my travel kit. I am a frequent flyer (finally hit 1M miles in January!) and I LOVE my iPad. This app and the WSJ are my two favorites on it. It's a great reference and I really enjoy reviewing where I've been on the maps and learning about places I'm traveling to. It simply has a TON of information and maps which make those long legs and layovers go by quickly. If you're looking for a travel companion, you really can't go wrong with this one. Just buy it!.Version: 3.2

Very GoodThis app is very well made and can be very useful in history and geography school classes.Version: 3.1

Used Everyday!Excellent offline Atlas. Enjoy the raster image format and how the countries are broken down into individual maps with greater detail once tapped. I use this everyday at work and it provides exactly the information I require every time. I bought this in 2017 and over the last 5 years it has more than justified its purchase price..Version: 4.5

Good basic atlasGood basic atlas.Version: 3.6

Good ValueProvides sufficient detail for me and has lots of useful information about the countries. Would have been nice you could search for places but for little money its good value..Version: 4.0

FANTASTICThis world atlas is absolutely amazing with so much information all at my fingertips. This is a first class app. Buy it, you will definitely not be disappointed..Version: 3.3

Good App- Worth the $This app is a nice alternative to the CIA World Fact Book. It has much of the same info and delivers it in a highly comprehensible, easy to navigate interface. Still has room for improvement and the developers seem dedicated to enhancing their app whenever possible. I've been using the app for a few weeks now and I'm still exploring much of its content..Version: 3.6.6

A real atlasI agree with the what a lot of the other reviewers say: this is finally a real atlas, with well-labelled maps of each country showing key towns, cities, mountain ranges, and rivers, not requiring online access, in clear, zoomable vector graphics. Google Earth is great, but serves a different purpose: zoomed out views are often not as helpful as a true designed map (e.g., if you are reading War and Peace and want to follow Napolean's progress along the Danube). Google Earth names all cities in the same font and font size, with no (or not much) human judgment about which ones to label and where to put the label and at what size. Rivers are hard to see in a zoomed out view and often not labeled. The topography is not as easy to grasp as in a traditional cartographic color scheme. Also, Google Earth requires Internet access, which is fine mostly, but not if you are reading on a plane and want to look somthing up..Version: 2.3

Railway lines.Sirs, I have recently sent an email requesting the inclusion of railway routes. I’m hoping this will be possible. Regards. Ian Brown.Version: 4.5

Very Informative! The APP has sufficient detail as a map for a little more local information. However the further information about the history etc. is superb. I use it all the time!.Version: 4.0

QExcellent app. Has atlas information without needing to be online. Could be improved by having links to move from one country map to the next without needing to redraw the map of the world..Version: 3.6

Good for world infoNice and interesting world map app...Version: 2.2

This is the bestThis is the best world atlas that I have found. The major plusses are 1) best quality maps - better resolution than the National Geographic Atlas, and 2) the maps are resident on your I-pad which is great for world travelers not always in touch with the Internet. But there is one thing lacking: inability to show your present position as reported by an attached GPS receiver. I suggested this to the developer - we will see what happens..Version: 3.2

ExceptionalExceptional tool as an international traveller wondering about the land below in flight..Version: 3.6

The world at your finger tips!My wife and I are lucky enough to have visited close to 125 countries. This atlas allows me to relive travel memories from over 50 years, but always also to plot new adventures. Clear, informative and easy to use. Clive Jackson, Vancouver, Canada..Version: 3.6.6

Great mapWhat a map.Version: 3.2

Has always worked wellGreat job..Version: 4.0

Outstanding AppThis app is what I’ve been searching for & it doesn’t disappoint. A fantastic general atlas. I can’t tell you how much I’ve used this as a reference source to news stories, novels etc. AND it utilizes a stable interface across the iPad and iPhone. I should point out I’ve used this for close to 2 years prior to writing this review. Outstanding..Version: 4.0

Concise and easy to useThe easiest way to get information and quickly about countries..Version: 3.6

A Great AppThis is a great little app for getting up to date information about different countries. The information delivered is clear, concise and up to date. A nice addition would be the ability to show your location using the iPad's GPS, although not essential as the app is not intended for navigation..Version: 3.2

Interesting and easy to useI like this app, but would like to have the option to zoom to street level. I realise that this is too much information to be held with the app, but maybe it could link online to google maps in the same way that it links to Wikipedia. Also, the ability to scroll to adjacent countries would be good..Version: 3.3
