✓ Amazing!When I first downloaded ages ago I found it too daunting and didn’t do anything with it but I found a class on Skillshare with Liz Kohler Brown who shows you how to use it and she makes it so simple and I’m so excited by it now, it’s brilliant!.Version: 2.93
✓ Astoundingly good!Huge fun to use, stylish and intuitive interface, with a great set of editing tools including copy and paste, reshaping, and a choice of ghosted fonts to base yours on (if you wish to). The ability to create kerning pairs would be useful - if it's in there I haven't found it - and better help would, er, help. A pen tool is also a top requirement. As it stands, the app is great for creating hand written fonts, but not for much else. But this is still a five star app, at a truly good price..Version: 0

✓ I Love it! Missing a Couple Things...By far the easiest and fastest font maker there is! From letter creation to file export, it couldn’t be more seamless! PLEASE ADD... 1. More brush options-I realize this isn’t Procreate but it would be amazing to have at least a few more brush option. 2. Some sort of smoothing or snap to shape/line so that editing was a little less tedious. ✓ Best app EVER!!!I’ve always wanted to have a font using my hand style for CAD drawings. 30+ years in design as an engineer and technical illustrator. Used every form of Autodesk and other tools. Tried all sorts of SHX files. Never got close to what this app lets me produce. I’ve never had a crash. Maybe older versions did. This one is fantastic. Takes a little knowledge of font design to really make use of the power of this app. Grab a book on typography if you don’t understand why letter spacing doesn’t seem to work for you. Then go back in and adjust your letters using the advanced tools in the app. If you’re a graphic designer this is a MUST HAVE. If you’ve just always wanted your own carefully developed hand written copy on your digital drawings, now you have a tool to do it! Not a paid endorsement. ✓ Big funWho didn't love to create their own customed lettering when they were young, or copy the lettering off album sleeves. This is just a huge amount of fun. A perfect tool for idling away a long commute, doodling away fonts. Granted this is not a fully functional font creation tool with custom kerning and bezier curves, but it is perfect for iPad usage. Well supported with a web site, and the ability to create exportable and usable fonts. The main limitation is likely to be your imagination. ✓ Amazing, needs more toolsA great app that could be even better with a few additions to the toolset. I would happily pay for some extra features like being able to render the font straight in the app rather than having to go through the online process. Also it really needs proper vector tools to be able to design more than hand drawn fonts. It would also be great to be able to fill an outline without having to fill it manually with lots of strokes. ✓ Lovely and straight forward tool.I downloaded this last night and have managed to produce a couple of useable fonts. I've made a few before and for the money was not expecting anything much but this app produces very good results if you want to make personal fonts or fonts that don't need total control of detail. What I've managed to do is produce useable headline fonts and hand style fonts for use in info panels, etc, and am already working on a bunch of others based on drawn characters. ✓ Clean, simple, and great for most purposesIf this had the ability to erase bits, and better control over precise line strokes when drawing with the Apple Pencil—rather than having to go it and tweak—this would get the extra star for being a great, simple tool for quickly creating fonts. ✓ Fantastic appThis is a brilliant font making app. It is very easy to use, and contains everything you might want for creating a new font. You can even create a full character set, not only with the accented and miscellaneous characters (æ, î, ø, ü, etc) but it includes a very large extended set of latin unicode characters (characters like œ, Þ, ĕ, ƥ), and even Japanese, greek/coptic, cyrillic, thai, and web and dingbats. It is great value for money and is comparable to software packages that cost $500-$1000 on a computer… I created a 135 character extended unicode font in fifteen minutes that would have taken me days if I was using conventional computer font software using the mouse etc. Brilliant!.Version: 1.8

As a designer I love working with custom fonts and often have hand drawn lettering I wished I could use as fonts. I had always in the past painstakingly hand lettered all such art. ✓ Very coolI want to provide balance to some of the negative (out of date) reviews. I've used the current version solidly for two days, and it did crash once. The app is especially suitable for handwriting and casual lettering fonts (you really could convert your handwriting into a font in a minute!), or even a display/novelty font. It is less suitable for someone needing a full featured font editor with multiple weights etc. With patience, someone could create some lovely fonts, though. The custom brushes convert strokes into artistic lines for very nice effects. The ability to convert lines into editable outlines makes this a powerful tool. And fonts can be easily shared, or installed on your iOS device directly, or downloaded to your desktop (PC or Mac). I was able to create a Hebrew alphabet even though the characters are not displayed by default, an easy work around allows you to create custom alphabet sets. ✓ Pretty goodI have been looking for a good font maker for some time that I could buy without having to pay a reoccurring subscription. I took a chance and bought this one, something I wouldn’t normally do without trying it out first. It is very good and with a bit of practice it produces good quality fonts on my IPad Pro with a Apple Pencil. Saving fonts could be a bit simpler but can be done and I’m pleased with this product. ✓ Almost Perfect - Wish There Were More UpdatesThere’s nothing quite like this on the Apple app store I’ve found. Everything for fonts is about texting with DIY fonts and using them in emojis. They’re built differently. I’ve been using iFontMaker for some years now, and I love it! I’ve even made a font that I write one of my biggest novels with. If you try to make fancier fonts, however, especially cursive ones, you’ll notice the shortcomings almost right away. Letters should be able to change depending on the letters they end up near. I’m not sure if it’s just out of the scope of what an app can do on iOS or not, but you’re out of luck if you want to make ANY cursive handwriting. Each letter is going to have to be stand-alone and look good as a stand-alone in the overarching font style, because there’s no way to add a setting to say…have l run into e which runs into u and i. There are some bugs too and it seems like the app has been abandoned. Now, I do think it’s still worth the price I bought it at, and it really is great for being able to make some simpler fonts so that you know you own the font and you can use it however/whenever/wherever you want. But if the creator ever wants to come back to the app and make updates, add features, etc, I’d be happy to pay more! (Just long as it’s not a subscription…).Version: 3.49

The uncluttered interface allows you to get started within moments of opening the app for the first time. Well positioned grid lines and an 'example font' in the background give you a head start on the glyph shapes. The ability to copy whole glyphs or just individual strokes allows you to make accented characters with ease. If you are creative, then having your own typeface can really add a unique touch to a piece. I recently transferred my data to a new iPad and in the process found I was unable to use the app. I reached out to the developers and they steadfastly responded, guiding me with multiple emails over several days and then scoured my files to seek out a corrupt piece of data, once it was deleted I was up and running again. ✓ Great app for creating rough draftsWhile this is a perfectly useful app for creating a complete font file, in my opinion its greatest strength is in letting you easily create excellent rough drafts of handwritten fonts. I’m able to easily sketch out, modify, and perfect each glyph using my Apple pencil, which helps the authentic look of this style of font. Then I can easily export it as a font file and bring it into a desktop application like FontLab to do the kerning and ligatures. I have tried out the kerning options in the app and they work fine. If you’re just doing a one-off font or two, go ahead and finalize it in the app. But if you’re more of a regular font designer, I think this is a great app for that first design stage. My only request would be to add in customizable pen shapes. I’d evn pay extra for that feature!.Version: 3.49

There are some rough edges, and certainly room for improvement and development, but this is one of those rare occasions where an app deserves a 5-star rating despite those qualifications. Despite the lack of a comprehensive tutorial or video I'd produced my own handwriting font, transferred it to my laptop, and was using it in Pages within 10 minutes. Although I'm having difficulty with setting the border perimeter settings and/or adjusting the selected font to reduce the size of the font so it may be fit within the lines. A palm reset would be a nice feature to be added! As well as the perimeter lines to be able to be adjusted on the main screen!... Also to install the fonts from device fonts is working very slowly! If this could be fixed in your next update would be appreciated! Also maybe an eraser feature for when lines overlap would be helpful!... ✓ Surprisingly awesome!I don't often write reviews, I rate apps but I have sat down to write this off my own back for once! I read reviews and sometimes when I see a lot of 5* I wonder if the developer has encouraged people to write by giving them something but this isn't a game, you don't win a cup for writing a review. I'm writing this review because the app is that good! It does what it says, you can create your own font, straight from your handwriting or someone else's. If you have any experience of anchor points then it will help you, there is a similarity in Adobe illustrator and having used that I found this really easy to adjust each of the letters to the shape I wanted. Even if you have no experience, this is worth every penny. I've never spent this much on an app before but I need it for work and took the risk. I can tell you that the reward will be great! ✓ Unbelievable...Unmistakably, undeniably, without a shadow of a doubt, the best app I have ever come across in the app store. I am forever trawling Apple's app store looking for new and exciting apps to add to my iPad and this does nothing less than exceed all my expectations. As a graphic designer, the chance to create typefaces on such an open, creative format like this is inspiring and a pure joy! The idea behind the app itself is simple yet obviously incredibly difficult to achieve, yet the guys and girls at 2TTF have pulled it off remarkably well. Minor, if not unsubstantial, glitches and errors occur from time to time but hardly worth losing sleep over when you realise what a powerful tool this could potentially be in the design industry. The one minor adjustment I would ever suggest could be made to improve the app further would be to have more control over the accuracy and placement of creating each character. At the moment it is great for creating quite free, simplistic typefaces. I would relish the opportunity to produce an accurate, precise typeface that could rival others created in professional software such as fontlab. In spite of this, iFontmaker is an unbelievable app that has made an immediate impact on the way I use my iPad. It now feels like it has a definitive purpose! It was true to it's claim in that it created a font based on my lettering style and did it within 5 minutes. For anyone that likes to send personalized notes, cards or envelopes this is a wonderful solution. I can see where my entire salesfoce will want to borrow my iPad so that they can make their own personal fonts!.Version: 0
