✓ Very poorI bought an medical atlas hoping that it would good on Mac and iPhone through the ebooks store. On Mac is clearly not fit for purpose but on iPhone is just unusable. For instance, hyperlinks don’t work within the book, and scrolling up or down is impossible. In this case you get some sort of bouncing up or down as you release your finger shifting the page one way or the other. Not sure if it has to do with my eAtlas but clearly doesn’t work. ✓ Really annoyingI purchased this app because it was the option given for a specific book I wanted to purchase. I wish I could’ve selected a different app. The bookmark is super annoying. It doesn’t stay on the page I’d bookmarked when I exit the app and so every time I go back to continue reading, I have to keep scrolling through all the pages trying to remember where I left off..Version: 4.1.8
✓ So any glitches can’t even use itIt has so many glitches it’s impossible to use. Every time I want to turn to the next page it keeps flipping back to the previous page. I sometimes have to flip the same page 5-7 times before it sticks. I got 660 pages to read for school, this is a total time waster. Then it doesn’t let you highlight sections. It freezes. ✓ Waste of time.Downloaded this app to read a novel I purchased from eBooks. Unfortunately the app does not display the book properly. No margins and when I try to increase font size only the title pages change. Each chapter is just an endless sheet rather than pages to click and turn. I’m a regular e reader using the Libby app for my library books and iBooks for other books on my iPad. I’ve just wasted £9.99 purchasing a book which I’ll never read because the print is too small. ✓ Deleting BugI made some copies that weren't working and tried deleting them to keep my library organized. However, they never went away even after several amounts of restarting and repetition of deleting. I contacted ebooks and they recommended I switch to Bluefire Reader. It was a good app, but now ebooks won't download to Bluefire. ✓ Good But Needs WorkA good App that gives access to some great books, ones I couldn't find on Kindle or iBooks. It does need some additional settings to be added though and my suggestion would be to immediately improve the App by adding a Sepia background option along with a brightness adjuster. ✓ A nightmare!I bought a book and downloaded it, that was quite easy. But the formatting was horrible: words would run over from one line to another without breaking at the end of a syllable or being hyphenated e.g. ‘loneliness’ was broken into ‘lo’ at the end of one line and ‘neliness’ at the start of the next. On top of this, the lines were so close together they were hard to read. I complained and was told, ‘I'm afraid that our Ebook Reader app is having a few difficulties with the formatting of some files.’ It was suggested I try another app. Many hours of fruitless effort later, I have given up. However, they did make a considerable effort to sort the problem out for me, and then refunded the purchase price of the book when that didn’t work. Zoom with a pinch doesn’t work, turn pages with a tap or swipe doesn’t work, it just turns to the start of the next chapter. Each chapter is just a continuous block of text that I have to scroll down to read, no individual pages or margins. ✓ I don't think this app is very goodI personally don't think this app is very good because you can only read old books that are best suited for much older people and the words are quite tricky. Also there is no children's books to read such as Jacqueline Wilson and diary of a wimpy kid. Not to mention it takes a long time to flip the pages because there is a lot of pages in between. ✓ App is so unintuitive it’s almost genius, and UI IS stuck back in 2009I really wish I had bought my book on Kobo or Kindle. God this app is bad. Here’s a few reasons, gleaned from my first 3 minutes: - the control icons are incomprehensible and unintuitive. They are also laid out bizarrely. Font is on the top right; font SIZE (the first thing anyone customises) is hidden on the second page bottom tool bar. - as other have mentioned, font sizes leap wildly from tiny to huge, and I would guess most users’ ideal size lies somewhere in between. - the pagination, kerning and like spacing look HIDEOUS. I am only able to read it, without paying for another app, on the website or it’s related app. Here’s something frustrating: I can enlarge the font, but the app is unresponsive to my touching the screen to scroll either up or down. ✓ It is a basic ereader appIt does what I supposed to do and uploads from apps or websites that allow you to download books. It is very good at having the books there when you open the app. Though, sometimes the books take awhile to open. And you can’t delete books once they have been added but I think that might be a new bug. While reading, it has some nice features you access like customizing the text, switching from light to dark modes, and changing the brightness. The biggest issue for me is the highlighting feature. It is slow, not accurate when trying to do the highlighting and erratic. And it doesn’t have a dictionary but you can save bookmarks and take notes..Version: 4.1.7
✓ Reading experience poorI bought the latest Lee Child novel which I want to read on my iPad. The text displays with no margin, meaning it extends to the black surround of the iPad screen, on all sides. Ifind this disconcerting. The displayed page is longer than the depth of the screen and has to be dragged up to see the next bit. Usually this is 2 or 3 Sections. If you tap on the right to turn the page before reaching the bottom you have missed a section or more. The font size control does not work on the text content, nor do the background and foreground colour controls. They work only on the list of chapters at the front. Not on the text content where they are needed. I found the text too small but couldn’t make it bigger. I won’t be buying any more books from this source..Version: 4.0.8

✓ AbominationAfter using this application I started to appreciate DRM removal softwares The application will give you different page numbers between desktop view and iPhone view for example if you are reading using your desktop and stoped at page 51 and you won’t continue reading using your iPhone page 51 is a different page than desktop. Slow, not responsive and if your finger rich the side of the screen it will take you up the very far end of the book. ✓ Unusable on my older ipadsAmong several defects, what earns this app the 1 star and the judgement "unusable" is the top line of every page is unreadable! Using the larger font, and oriented either way, there is no way to get rid of the menu items and colored bar at the top of each page. There used to be the same problem at the bottom of the page, so the last line was obscured by the menu bar, but clicking in the middle of the page in this new version properly disappears that lower menu bar. ✓ No update for a year - and it shows!The whole business model of this company is admirable but the app is a disaster. I have been communicating with their very good customer service (Sheila) but the only real outcome was a store credit refund. This doesn’t address the fact that the app is a poor reading experience. Problems with image orientation, constant pagination (which seems to get stuck in a never ending loop) and pages jumping about. Reluctantly I’ve given up with this company as unless I buy a dedicated ebook reader I see no way of been able to read their books on the iPad..Version: 4.1.8
✓ Not my favourite book appI want to like this. But there’s too many annoying issues. Why is the leading on the type so tight? I mean there’s barely any space at all between lines and no way to adjust it. I get a headache from eye strain after just a few pages. Adjusting font size is useless, one click up is massive and one down is almost illegible. My screen also turns off half way through a page unless I’m constantly tapping it which is extremely annoying. I have 2 other book apps and I don’t have these issues with either. 2 stars until improvements are made… I’d much prefer Libby or Kindle, but alas… many books aren’t available there.Version: 4.1.8

Doesn't take advantage of the electronic nature of the device to make footnotes and endnotes pop up in place when tapped; instead it has them at the end of the document as per the original book without the convenience of a physical bookmark or "finger in the page". ✓ Awful reading experience. Avoid at all costs.I really wanted to avoid buying ebooks from a giant competitor, so I tried these guys. Now I wish I hadn't bothered. The range of books is good, but the only realistic way to read them is by using their own approved app. That's bad enough, but this app has never in its life had anyone even remotely competent in typography anywhere near it. There is a variety of fonts to use, but only one of the sans-serif ones (the default) renders acceptably. All of the others vary in displayed size, and descenders are often clipped because the line-height is incorrectly set. Trying to set the font-size to compensate for that is an exercise in futility, because the available sizes are so coarse as to be unusable. The reading experience is so poor compared to even a typical *website* that I don't expect to ever recommend this app or the service behind it -- quite the opposite..Version: 4.1.7

If I touch the wrong place on the page, it will forward me to the next chapter, but when I go back to the previous chapter where I had been, it does not go to the place where I was last reading. ✓ Not up to snuffThis reader offers tiny, medium, and very large text with big size jump between them. When I go from the two small text to one that is more comfortably sized, it leads to highly distracting gaps in the page because the app insists that the text be justified. My opinion on whether it should be justified or not it’s really the only one that counts, and in this case, removing the justification and letting it just flow normally from the left side of the page would make a far more readable document. ✓ No dictionaryNo lookup words, no dictionary. When you select a word, you get only two options: cancel and highlight. There’s no copy command either maybe because of copyright? Copy right or DRM doesn’t make a lot of sense for law-abiding readers. ✓ Frustrating and awful to use on iPhoneXI have to use this Ebook reader for studying from a postgraduate university text and the only device I can read from, except from a laptop, is my iPhoneX. This app is not designed with this phone in mind. The text starts at the very top of the screen meaning you can’t read the first 1 or 2 lines because of the cutout. The menu is at the very bottom of the screen meaning the home ‘button’ of the phone triggers instead of the scroll bar. It’s impossible to navigate the book I’m using as the table of contents is blank in the menu. Incredibly frustrating!!!!.Version: 4.0.8
✓ Practical and purposefulThis book reader app does for me what I'd expect of an app of this type for the most part but is missing two major tools that I've found useful on other book reader apps. They are , firstly that you can't select the text to auto scroll at a desired speed which allows the reader to be hands free of the device for at least the time that device takes to go into sleep mode. Secondly, a tool where you can highlight a selected word and search its definition. For this you would have to make a separate note and go into a different dictionary app. It's a shame you can't use the define button when having highlighted a word as you would if writing an email or the alike..Version: 1.3
