I type anything in, spelled wrong, no accents, english or spanish ....and it is already guessing correctly what I am looking for. The descriptions are thorough and complex enough to be accurate. It is simple to use and fast. And when I thought it couldn't get any better, ....yes it talks too! The definitions will speak if you like. If you have a good start on Spanish or it is day one for you, this is what you need. There are so many forms of the verbs. In other dictionaries you need to know the correct spelling of the infinitive form of the verb. In this one, you can get almost everything wrong and still spot the word you need in a list. Well done! ✓ MikelVery helpful app for us while in Cabo. Being able to use it offline helped us find purchases for our condominium without having to use sign language and gestures while in the stores. (Try buying tools,etc at Home Depot without knowing what things are called!!). It also helped facilitate a conversation with a New Mexican friend who is trying to learn English. He was so impressed he decided to buy the app himself for his trips to the states. ✓ Great Dictionary!Note that this is both an English to Spanish and Spanish to English dictionary. I have a few Spanish to English dictionaries and this one is the nicest. It combines English and Spanish on the same page and lets you switch definition language with a button. The audio is synthesized, but it's very understandable and clear. You can "favorite" words for easy retrieval and it keeps a history of words you've looked up too. Text is set to one size, but it seems large enough. A pinch to expand gesture would be nice, but not essential. I really like the user interface, it looks classy and is very functional without a lot of confusing buttons and settings -- everything you need is on the same screen. I needed an offline Spanish-English dictionary when I was travelling in Central America, and this one worked like a charm. I got a lot of mileage out of this app. The only thing I dislike about this app is the size it takes up- over half a gigabyte! While UL is clean and fast, Word Magic adds more meat to the definitions and is especially useful for finding words included in a phrase, like "military intelligence," for example. I would say that Word Magic is better for "exploration." PS - I wish people who review apps would stick to reviewing the app and not use reviews to ventilate their tech support frustrations UNLESS they have attempted to contact support multiple times and the company has failed to respond. I have also found quotations with the desired word on the English side but not on the Spanish side. (I think this may be due to the fact that the database of Spanish is generated by a program.) ✓ The best I've usedThis app is very comprehensive and hard to put down, but it isn't perfect. Most problematic for me is that very often I have to tap in the search field many times before a cursor appears. That is frustrating. Another issue for me is that it defines Spanish words in Spanish. I suspect most users speak either Spanish or English and are learning the other, so it seems that words in one language would be defined in the other language. Also, some words are displayed in the list on the side but seem to defy translation/definition (i.e., oído, sueño). When the word is selected, the app seems to process the selection endlessly. Oh, then there are many translations/definitions that display "@" in place of "a". Lastly, there is the issue of giving examples of word usage...that do not use the word at all. ✓ Best (now only) dictionary for three years in South AmericaI tried several dictionary apps when I started learning Spanish for a year of extended travel in South America. This one is by far the best and since I moved to Colombia two years ago has been the only dictionary I use. The verb conjugations provided for each verb are priceless. The pronunciation audio is helpful - but remember there are many local accents - but this gets you close enough to be understood. The photos/images are frequently helpful in food shopping - "What do they call coriander here?" Finally the sample phrases frequently help me distinguish subtle differences in meaning or remember words. Other useful features include looking up words without having to specific the language (so much faster) and listing potential words before you finish typing. Overall I highly recommend this dictionary. I've used it daily for years and it works wonderfully. The only criticism/warning is that the audio pronunciation of the word only works offline. But it will play audio even offline - it just plays the last word you played again. Typically this will be obvious but I had one occasion where it was close enough for me not to notice. I can sort words into personalized categories and then use the flash card feature to quiz myself in each category. I agree with those who say that the verb conjugations should include the English translations. That is its one major flaw. To get those I bought the sister product with just verbs. My Spanish is rather advanced and STILL there is never a need for another app! I purchased a couple of other Spanish Dictionaries and wound up just deleting them! I’m a wordsmith and just love playing around with this interesting app. It’s ALL there. I use to spend summers studying in Mexico. I'd lug about twenty books with me- five or six of them dictionaries, one little one always in my purse. Now there'd be no need. I could just whip out this app on my tiny computer- my iPod. I would love if they added word games. That would make this already indispensable app even better! I don’t recall what I paid for this app but I’d certainly be willing to pay $5 or so for a fun upgrade. What do you think? 😉 I also recommend their Spanish Slang dictionary. Especially when I first learned Spanish learning the slang and the naughty words was no easy feat. You don’t want to mess them up because you sound rather foolish. And even if you don’t use them, it certainly can help to recognize them. I finally found a useful book but the Spanish Slang book is far, far better! I just purchased the slang app, in part to support this developer, and if you love 💕 Spanish like I do, you can spend hours playing with it. The recent update addressed ALL of the issues I'd raised which is fantastic, it's great to see a developer listening to their users and genuinely pushing their product forward. The new app is excellent and, as before, provides an excellent dictionary for the price. The only thing now missing is an upgrade path to the unabridged dictionary. This has about 80-90% of the words I look up, but it'd be nice to know what the remainder mean!.Version: 2.0.0
✓ An excellent App!I find this to be an extremely valuable tool in my attempt to learn the Spanish language. It is very thoughtfully assembled with an easy to use interface that seems effortless to anyone acquainted with an IPad or iPhone. The bilingual dictionary is exhaustive and features audio cues to assist in proper pronunciation. Combined with other Apps, it has helped me enormously. I would recommend it highly to anyone learning the language, or looking to expand their Spanish vocabulary. Worthy of 5 stars..Version: 1.2.0
