Being able to use you own fabric in the blocks gives you a really good idea about how the final quilt will look - and allowing you to put quilt blocks together immediately shows up the overall pattern created - not always apparent when beginning a quilt. ✓ One of a kindThis is the ONLY app that allows me to experiment with color and design for my crochet granny square based afghans. It's well thought out. I can add yarn color swatches. I am waiting with baited breath for the block designer. Then I'd be all set. I am too inexperienced with programming to take advantage of the concise instructions about programming my own blocks on the website. ✓ Works great!This app does almost everything I want it to do! Taking pictures of fabrics works great! The whole app is easy user-friendly. I would REALLY like it to have a few additional features to make it more flexible in designing my own blocks; the 4x4 etc. triangle blocks are great, but I would like to see them up to 18x18, which would give me a 9x9 grid to work with. Just some grids would be nice, maybe up to 12x12. I would also like to see the rows and columns go down to 1. That way I can make a 1 block quilt, 4 block quilt, or a table runner. It would also be nice to have my own block library, so I don't have to re-create a block when I want to use it in another quilt. Thanks for a great app!.Version: 2.3

✓ Really HelpfulI was about to pay almost $200 for quilting software and then I found this. Let's you add your own fabrics, has all the pre made blocks I could ever want. It is so helpful to see the end result before you start sewing. The only suggestion I have is to have the ability to rotate and resize the swatches no biggie. My favourite quilt app!There are only 3 things that I could think of that would make this a better app; these would be 1) to have a wee bit more blocks 2) to have directions on how to make the blocks available 3) standard quilt sizes to pick when choosing quilt layout( crib, twin,double, etc) Other than that , right now, I think this is an amazing app! ✓ Good overallSo far I like the way this app runs. My only problem is that there is not enough fabrics. If there is a way to download more fabrics I would be happy to continue this app, otherwise I would like my money back. ✓ Awesome!This is exactly what I was looking for. You can TAKE PICTURES of the fabrics you want to use, or save pics from the web. Pics are very quick and easy to import and insert into your design. You can arrange your block, then add sashing and borders. I fiddled with the app for about an hour to get familiar and upload my fabrics, then spent about ten minutes to create three versions of the same quilt to see which way I like best. I rarely pay more an $1 for apps, but this one was totally worth the money..Version: 2.1
✓ Quilt WizardAlthough I took a gamble in purchasing this program with no previous reviews, I am so glad I did! As a "beginner" with only a few quilts under my belt, I struggle somewhat relative to design and color. This program lays it out beautifully! I am able to quickly and easily take pictures of my fabric and then use these pictures to decide if the contrast and/or colors will work and are what I was hoping for on my finished quilt. With the cost of material being what it is, it is reassuring to see the layout before cutting into my fabric and wasting countless hours. ✓ Love it!!I love this app ! Take the time to learn it , it isn't hard .I love being able to see my quilt laid out before I buy or cut Fabrics . Just take a picture , use it , remember to enlarge it with the plus that is at top of box ,if you wish, it changes the look of blocks in the quilt if you don't . It may look like a four square if you keep it small. I learned this a little to late, but fixed it simple.I do wish it had the app Block Fabs features also..Version: 2.4
✓ Almost there!I love the ease of use of this application. Clearly they have fixed the issues that previous reviewers have mentioned. I love that they include the ability to type a note about each fabric so that you can remember where you found it, where you have it stored, or in what quilt you used it in the past! I would give it 5 stars if they added an option to not "tile" simple block quilts so that larger block patterns are more visible in those types of quilts. Patrick has been very responsive! ✓ Great app!This is a fab little app that lets you plan your quilt using photos of your own fabric so you know exactly what the finished produced will look like. I've given it 5 stars as compared to other quilt apps it's outstanding. Although I have some suggestions as to what else I'd like to be able to do. 1. I'd like to be able to just add horizontal or vertical sashing it only allows you to add both at the moment. 2. I'd like to be able to create quilts using shapes other than squares, rectangles and triangles.. IE Hexagons/tumbler/apple core..Version: 2.5.3
✓ This is a great design toolWhen I first began thinking about quilting, I was steered down the path of buying fabric or, as the initiated, know creating a "stash". So I had all this fabric but no idea how to put patterns and colors together. I came across this app and it changed things forever. I could take pictures of the fabric I had bought and lay it out in different block patterns. I was suddenly making quilts without having to sew anything. I would take my iPad or iPhone with me when shopping and never repurchased the same fabric because I had my library of images with me. For those of us with less than an intuitive sense of what went well together, it was a godsend. I could design to my heart's content and all before before cutting into any of my fabric. It gave me a great deal of confidence in my ability to choose fabrics and blocks. I could send my designs to a quilting cousin for critique and my husband was always surprised that I was making several quilts a day until I told him about the app. The developer was also responsive to my questions and suggestions about its use. For the beginner or seasoned quilter, this app will inspire you and give you confidence, something most of us newbies suddenly lose, when confronted with the gorgeous quilts people are able to make..Version: 2.5.1

✓ Almost perfect!This is a remarkably good app. The level of customisation is brilliant compared to other similar apps I've tried. The ability to photograph my fabric collection and then be able to see that fabric arranged as a quilt makes planning a project much simpler - though be warned, make sure you take the time to adjust the photos so that the colour and lighting genuinely matches reality, or else you could spend hours on a design only to find out that the colours you chose don’t actually go together as well as they did on the screen. One thing that you need to know is that there is a companion app that goes with this one - Quilt Wizard Companion I think it’s called - that lets you create and install your own blocks. The block library included in Quilt Wizard is really good, but realising that I could make my own was a real game changer. The only reason the app doesn’t get a perfect score is just that the controls are a little clunky and unintuitive, and it lacks some features that I really think would improve the experience - but overall it’s a great app, and honestly I don’t think I would enjoy quilting nearly as much without it. Furthermore, I would also like to be able to search my text labels (and possibly tags) for fabrics (I can envision hundreds). Just needs a few more tricksI am brand new to quilting so finding an app that lets me use photos of my fabrics on a virtual design wall was the turning point for me from wanting to quilt to actually starting. However, since I am new, I would have loved it even more if it could have calculated my yardage and the cuts I needed to make. Printing directly would be nice but not the highest priority since I can take a screen shot and print the photo or post to FB, a blog, etc. More granularity in controlling how big each patch is in the block would be awesome. Overall, though, a nice little app for visualizing what a particular combination of fabrics would look like..Version: 1.2

I went to my local quilt store and took pictures of fabrics. We all had a ball trying out the various combinations. It is so fun changing the colors in a block, or flipping a block, or throwing in a random color on the border, to change the whole look of the quilt. Using photographs of your chosen fabrics, you can see the blocks and design your layout without laying your blocks all over the floor! However, it would be useful if you could also design your own blocks, since not all standard blocks are given, for example Rail Fence is missing. Please make the Companion app available for the iPhone!I’ve been using the Quilt Wizard app and the Quilt Wizard Companion app almost as long as I’ve been quilting, which is about 7 years. I use the apps exclusively on my iPad because the Companion app is only available for iPad, and I use them all the time! That being said, please release the Quilt Wizard Companion app for the iPhone in addition to the iPad. It would be amazing to have both apps on both devices. There are many times that I want to work on a quilt design but I don’t have my iPad, and unfortunately the Quilt Wizard doesn’t have the block design I need. So I have to wait to do anything. ✓ It works!We grabbed this app to help out with a quilt project. Our pattern had 2 blocks alternated and we wanted to play with the colors and see the result laid out as a quilt. Both blocks were included in the app and the built in fabric selections were close enough to what we wanted to use. We had our quilt mocked up in a matter of minutes! ✓ Oh Sew Many Options!I was skeptical purchasing this app. However, I was not disappointed! I was able to easily upload my own photos to use as swatches, and configure by layout exactly as I wanted. This isn't a calculation tool--it is a DESIGN tool that gives hundreds of options. For instance, I am building a disappearing nine--although there is a "nines", there isn't every variation of nines. However, the way you are able to fill each shape with your fabrics, I easily used another template block to simulate the directions I wanted to disappear my "nines". You can create many blocks to use in the same quilt, and create multiple quilts. I just love it! For those not familiar utilizing a design utility, there will be a slight learning curve for the app and how it works. I am rather proficient with design software and found it easy, and surprisingly feature rich. I just love it! Improvements? Give a binding option utility, allow fabric categories/naming convention for custom imported fabric swatches, and perhaps freestyle piece shapes (in the rare circumstance that anyone would need it---there are a gazillion block templates)!.Version: 2.4.1
✓ It's like quilting for dummiesI love this app., the only downside is that it you aren't able to calculate fabric quantities, but I'm sure it will come one day. I've given it 5 stars mainly because of the amount of time and effort it saves. I was at a class last night and the instructor took ages working out how many squares I would get from my fabric and if a certain lay out would work. With this app, you can photograph your fabric and insert it in to the quilt and work out placement of colours, whether it looks better with a sashed border or just plain and which blocks go together. ✓ Love it, but needs a little finesseWith the companion app, I’m able to build blocks from scratch! I’ve taken the time up load almost 350 Kona solids by name so I know my quilt will have true colors. My only drawbacks are this. I wish I could ‘unselect all’ fabrics with one button. With 350 solid colors, I do a lot of scrolling just to unselect a fabric. Also, I wish the options for borders and sassing could be much smaller. The ratio is quite large compared to the blocks. ✓ Very cool, useful app for quiltersI just downloaded this last night and played with it for an hour. It does exactly what it says it does. You can use the fabric "swatches" that come with the app or add your own with the camera. You can create a note attached to each fabric swatch where you can record anything you want. I was going to use it for putting in the amount of that fabric I have on hand. I am just starting to get back into quilting after nearly a decade hiatus. I have hundreds of fabrics that I always thought I would do something with, but never have. This app will let me not only imagine, but view quilts I could make with those fabrics. Once the fabric swatches are in the library, you can build as many blocks as you want for a specific quilt. Then go to the quilt and build the quilt. It is restricted to building quilts from only two different block patterns, one square and one diagonal, but heck that is how most quilts are designed. You can add sashes and borders and define the number of blocks per side. The quilts are saved, but I don't know how to save individual blocks I've created. The blocks are associated only with a specific quilt design. It would be nice to be able to create a library of blocks in addition to the library of fabric swatches. Will try to update this app when I've played with it a bit more..Version: 2.3

✓ Terrific app!This is a terrific app for quilters and lots of FUN. After familiarising myself with it I found it quite ADDICTIVE and tried all sorts of designs just to see what they looked like. The ability to PHOTOGRAPH my OWN FABRICS is a HUGE ADVANTAGE and I've heard on the grapevine that there may be more block designs & possibly even a "Design your own" block available sometime soon.
