✓ Was good until they removed more free optionsLike the title says, I would have given 5 stars but they recently removed the ability for free users to use text and shape editing. I can live without the shape editing but removing something as simple as text for free is kind of pushing it..Version: 2.4

Unethical payment practices.This app does not offer a lot for the price when you consider subscriptions to professional software like illustrator which offers far more functionality and more versatile tools. It has a very sneaky and expensive subscription model charging weekly, with no clear information on unsubscribing, either in the AppStore or on the publishers website. Not only does this put people off trying the app but it is also unethical to take money from people willing to try the app without giving the option to end the subscription once the trial ends. Had there been an opt in approach once the free trial ended I may have kept this app as it is a good basic tool to create vector images outside the office but as it stands I can’t support this practice. Developers that last and build a loyal client base tend to steer clear of the quick cash grab that has become prevalent in the industry instead giving choice to their subscribers..Version: 1.8
✓ Needs some improvementThe app is okay to some extent, but it needs some tweaking. There should be a way to copy and paste elements from one project to another. The number of available shapes, etc, are minimal at best. I wish there were more. All in all, considering it’s a paid app, it’s kind of clunky. I’m hoping for an update soon. Also, the app just will not display svg files when I attempt to download them. I can’t figure out why. And, I wish I could draw on the images to add something if needed. A ruler option would also be helpful. There are a load of reviews with suggestions, but nothing is being done to improve the app..Version: 2.3

✓ Would give 5 stars but...So I would say it’s a “my device thing” but now I’m fully convinced it’s an app thing. First off I’m using a brand new iPad Pro and when I use the app on my phone I’m using an iPhone 11. The app from the beginning, I thought, this is amazing! Especially if you are staring off in the design world or just want a different creative outlet other than freehand drawing. Here’s where the issues arise... yes sometimes your work gets deleted as some other reviews have said. it happened more before (a couple months ago) than it does now but it will show up on the preview page and when you open it the meltdown inside of you starts because you have lost potentially hours of work. But recently the worst thing happened. I spent 6 hours on a project.. and on that 6th hour the app crashed, ok.. weird, no problem just reboot it. Keeps crashing every time I try to open that project. I have tried everything to get this project back but it’s unreachable. IT WONT STOP CRASHING. I’m so devastated because I forgivingly started another project today thinking it was just a glitch on that one thing I was doing and it did it again, another project that I can’t touch. I paid for a whole year for an app that I can’t even use. So disappointed and heartbroken. I was using this to create art for my business and now I have to find something else..Version: 2.3

✓ Can’t change object colours since update. Unuseable ☹️As someone else has commented, since the last update I have been having porblems with the app when previously it has been working like a dream. The app loads as normal and I can still access all my projects etc however when I try to change the colour on any object the app freezes and becomes unusable. This seriously needs to be fixed and addressed immediately as I am relying on this app and no longer see why I should be paying for it. ✓ What happened to the Forever Unlock?I have friends who have been using this app for a year or more, and they’ve persuaded me to use this app to help me with my graphic design aspirations. However, I just got the app in November, and the first thing I notice is that most of the features are hidden behind the Pixite Pro paywall. I’m fine with paying about nine dollars to unlock a full app, but you guys discontinued it. Why? My friends are currently using features in the app that are hidden behind a paywall, and they’ve been using the app before Apple started using subscription models. I’m disappointed, Pixite. I do not feel like paying thirty dollars every year to use this app, when I look down at the In-App Purchases and see that I could have only paid nine dollars to use the same functionality forever. ✓ Update causing instabilityThe recent update has rendered this app glitchy and erratic. Projects disappear, stickers created vanish and it has turned an excellent app into a poor shadow of itself. Previously reviewed as a 5* and now downgrading. I haven't upgraded and unlikely to do so given the last update. ✓ $4aud a week for this? 🤣😂🤣😂I don’t know what I expected from an Apple recommendation, but I downloaded it out of interest, I play GT7 and you can use .SVG files to make liveries, this doesn’t have that sort of functionality. This is a scrapbook program with very little useful customisations, akin to laying a piece of wool on a page and glueing it down. ✓ Not compatible with iPad OS 15 UII can no longer click on some on the UI (e.g. COPY) because the new window splitter of iPad OS 15 is now being invoked when you try to touch the same target area. There’s no alternate way to invoke the command. It also hangs a lot now. You would think that paying for a subscription would mean they would fix these compatibility issue early on before the release of a major upgrade but they are prioritizing the school version of the app than the normal subscriber. Also clicking App Support takes you to a 404 web page not found. They must have abandoned all kinds of support and just hoping to make money on innocent subscribers. 😔.Version: 2.4.3

✓ App is great, but reliable storage to access projects in progress is TERRIBLE.App is great, it has tons of additional things you can use. It allows me to save my projects to my camera roll, BUT every time I go back to the app all of my projects disappear with no way to get them back, which is very aggravating. To anyone who uses this app: be sure to save ALL of your projects to your camera roll if you plan on using it ever, and I advise you to complete a project in one sitting unless you want all of your progress to disappear. This may only be my app that's counterproductive, but I would have preferred if someone provided me with a forewarning as well. Please fix it. ✓ Deleted all my projects!I waited a SUPER long time before finally deciding to bite the bullet and update, only for it to be stuck on loading. It won’t let me do ANYTHING anymore! There are whole seconds that pass between tapping on a shape and the shape actually being selected. The lag is very disruptive of my workflow. It wasn’t always like this! The app used to work fine. ✓ Never Any New Shapes AddedThere haven't been new shape packs added in many years and I'm sick of that. What was the point of making the in-app purchase for unlimited shapes back in the day before you got greedy with this subscription crap, if you're never adding any new shapes? So sick of this apathy. This app and developer was so much better when they sold this once great app as a premium program for one fair price. But, ever since they became greedy with the subscription garbage this app has become much worse and the developer now apparently has zero incentive to add new shapes to the program. And why would they? They are already getting money per month or per year without having to justify those ridiculous fees with new content like shape packs. This stinks now. ✓ Sketchy Features claims - not as listedI wanted a vector draw app that can import PNG, PDF, and JPG files. The features list said it could. It can’t. Then the description was updated. It still can’t. The app does not do as the features claim: PNGs Well, if you have a PNG on your camera roll, you can add that to an open artwork. But you have to look inside the menu, inside some “Art board” area (?), then there is a “load” button. There’s no import button. But on the main screen the app has an import SVG button directly. Confusing. Plus, even if you use the load image from inside the art board menu confusion, there is no FileBrowser to import PNGs from your files or from dropbox, only a select photo from your photo roll. JPGs I see no way to import JPG. I see no way to export JPG. PDF Exports yes. Import no. For an app that costs $30 a year annually (more if you pay monthly), I would expect a simpler, more intuitive interface and an actual file import option (especially if the features list says it can). Plus, even after upgrading for a year, you still have to pay more and more to import from the shapes packs. Secondly, it claims you can do a 7-day trial. It would not let me access any app functions at all until I upgraded. This may be a good app for you if you are mainly working with SVG files and only require PDF/PNG export. ✓ App with huge potential BUT!I honestly believe this app have the potential to be one of the most prominent vector graphic app in the App Store but unfortunately what pulling it down is the mentality of the developers, it is apparent for them that their priority for the app is to make money over promoting and developing the app and it seems their focus these days on their other apps and Assembly is getting forgotten which is a big mistake! I might even go further to say the developers themselves don’t believe in the potential of the app as much as us the users do. I think if this was a £10 app it will get a lot more deserved attention than it currently have. I don’t think the developers are interested in what people are saying so it’s the end of my journey with Assembly for now but I will definitely keep an eye on it and see what the future will bring to it, hopefully it won’t be too late by then..Version: 2.4.1

I could probably get along fine without paying for the premium, but the problem is that you can barely use the app for all the alerts trying to persuade you to upgrade!! ✓ It has changedThis app used to be the best graphic design app in ios. My early graphic design works were done with Assembly and I have produced hundreds of works through the years. The app used to be 100% free and excellent without any bugs. However, now it has changed into a no more than an app that wishes to gain more money. So many bugs, I can not even change my artboard to a photograph and the app always crashes everytime I do that. And even worse, it is now asking for subscription. Well, if you want to make the app not free anymore, fix the bugs first!.Version: 2.3
✓ Love the app but doesn’t open half the timeI absolutely love this app, but 8 out of 10 times when opening it up it freezes and doesn’t allow me to do anything. When it does it takes forever to even swipe through my projects. If I leave the app, and go back into it, it will freeze on the screen with my folders while showing everything in the cloud needing to be downloaded... when deleting and reinstalling the app, nothing uploads from the cloud, I have to individually select hundreds of projects for them to download one by one for me to see them and use them again... this is infuriating. I love the app but recently with how often it doesn’t work, or kicks me off the app leaving me to lose progress, it makes it difficult to want to keep using it... ✓ Love, but Erased Work After Going BackI really love this app, but after finishing work on something and going back to my works the app has apparently Erased all the work that has been done and I'm low key furious. I was working on a paid project and wish there is a way for me to get this work done back. I have saved multiple times... If there's a way to fix this please let me know. I would have given 5 stars, but this just crushed my view of this application. I now have to use a previously saved screenshot that I sent to the client in order to do the remaining work in illustrator and photoshop. ✓ USED to be my favorite appIt hurts to give this anything less than 5 stars, but truthfully, at this stage, it’s not even worth one. It used to be my favorite app, but now it’s almost useless and I only have been holding on to it in hopes that one day the developers would fix the problems. If I want to change the color of an element, I have to delete it, and replace it over and over until I get the color i want. And if I want to change the color palette, I have to close and open the entire app until I get the palette I want, and with the way this app works, I can only see one color in the palette without opening the entire palette. But if I do that, the app freezes. So to find out if it’s the palette you want to use, you have to delete and replace the element over and over. So with that being said, it says how much I ABSOLUTELY LOVED AND ADORED this app before the bugs. Who else would hang on through this garbage? If they fix it, well worth the wait! ✓ Stealth Subscription ModelI like the app and it could have been great if it was a one off purchase. I would happily pay up to £10 for an app l find truly indispensable but I refuse to subscribe to anything. The Pattern artist allows you to create endless patterns and has separate free and full versions. The full version was only £1.99 which is pretty cheap as the app is worth 10 times that. The fact that others have mentioned that unsubscribing isn’t made easy also puts me off as it means the developers hope to make money by stealth. ✓ Should be a paid one and done app, not a subscriptionFirstly, I understand that app developers need to make a living too. This isn’t the issue. The issue is charging users on a weekly/monthly basis. I think charging $7/$15 is ridiculous! I was looking for an app that would help me get my designs on my phone to experiment with and do some graphic design work. However, you can’t even create text on the “free” version! What’s the point of having it without text? I would be more than fine with a one-time purchase, but this is honestly ridiculous. ✓ Not sureThis is a criticism of subscriptions than of this app. With every man and his dog wanting monthly payments from you for something as simple as setting a piece of type, if we were to subscribe to everything then we would be skint. That means we have to prioritise where we spend our future dollars. And I’m sorry but this app just doesn’t get a priority. It’s good but it’s just low productivity and therefore low value as a subscription as a creative or even as a passing user, You would be wise to really look closely at your workflows or objectives and you will soon discover much more value and output per dollar with obvious alternatives. ✓ Honest ReviewFirst off I wanna say that this is a very very great app with a good concept and recently poor execution. I’m no professional or anything like that I just make stuff here and there on Assembly. When I first got the app it was amazing, no bugs and only a few suggestions to add. Now times have changed, the things that we’re missing have now been added but they are filled with bugs and problem. The folder system is awesome and something I really love but it freezes my screen every time I add something, causing me to have to exit the app then come back and have the cycle repeat. The app crashes more frequently for some reason as well and is just more awkward now than it was 3 years ago when I downloaded it. I really do like this app and I have made some awesome things, it’s just the execution and some choices halt me from using it as frequently as I used to. ✓ Newest update deleted some of my recent projectsA few updates ago, I used to be able to use stickers I had made in my texts. I haven’t been able to do that in a while and tried to update the app hoping I could. When I did, the last few projects I had worked on were no longer showing up, basically anything I had created in the last 10+ months. I’m not sure if it’s an issue with the Cloud or what. The stickers I had created and saved since that time are thankfully still there, but it’s a major disappointment for me. Assembly had been my go-to art app for a few years, but now I’m afraid to work on anything for fear of the projects deleting again..Version: 2.0

✓ But who keeps paying these high cost subscriptions?Like every app on the store now this app has gone subscription. After being a long time user early on it seems there is no longer any point in complaints. Dev won't actually listen and their rent seeing accountant will tell them they'll be richer this way hoarding their gold.. I just can't fathom how everyone can keep on paying for all the app subscriptions especially at the costs they are demanding. I do know that in marketing land the advise about subscription is given that xxxxx amount of people will forget and continue paying month after month so it's money for jam. It is also so blatantly evident that subscription services are rigged to removes as much money as possible from us as fast as possible it's so in your face. As an example I cant edit text in an old project, for the ludicrous amounts of $$$ even in toddlers games. The other problem is that once you do this to loyal customers, you force them out to search out something else, and lose. So I've gone, very disappointed, another loyal customer permanently lost. ✓ What happenedJust downloaded to a replacement iPad and opened it expecting to see my files downloading, I get a huge list of crap, I can open each one that would take forever, the names have all vanished. A number of my old projects when opened in the latest version are just rubbish, positions have changed, sizes, rotation, level within the object, grouping, everything, it isn’t maintaining compatibility with it’s own older files! No longer worth the effort, what rubbish, what a shame. Affinity Designer from now on I think..Version: 2.4.1
