The OFFICIAL ABRSM Violin Scales Trainer is a fun and rewarding way to practise scales and arpeggios for Violin. It’s been uniquely developed to combat the boredom and repetitiveness students often associate with routine scales practice and covers the ABRSM scales requirements for Violin at Grades 1-5.
This free lite version features content for one scale at each grade, plus the full Quiz function. You may upgrade to all content for Violin Grades 1 to 5 within the app.
There are five main features to help you build familiarity and confidence:
• Practice Area – for every scale and arpeggio you can view the notation and listen to example recordings played at exam tempo (or a different speed of your choosing)
• Play and Compare – record and review your own playing against example performances, reflect critically and monitor your progress
• Play with Band – follow the on-screen instructions and have fun playing the scale to a backing track
• Practice History – see your past activity and progress on each scale and arpeggio
• Quiz – Let Scales Trainer choose a selection of scales for you to practise. Perfect for a quick warm-up, or for getting in the zone for your exam.

Violin Scales Trainer Lite Pros
✓ Great idea but not yet good enoughI liked the idea of this app and quickly downloaded and paid for the full version.( iTunes doesn't recognise this so can't review full version!) Not sure if ABRSM will read this but here goes. There is a fault in the function whereby it will not play example scale but keeps you in endless loop cycling choice of separate or slurred. This only breaks if you move the speed bar. Actually this fault seems to have righted itself-so maybe me. The play with band I thought was a useful tool but I don't find it long enough; there needs to be at least another bar between playing scale and reading next instruction. Pupils aren't quick enough to play scale, recover(when it goes wrong!) and read next instruction. The ability to record their scale attempt and compare to demo is excellent, much better than me telling them😳 This could be improved if there was option to see written scale as they record their attempt. Also if the demo had a count in they could play along with it-would help with tuning and if you could stop playback of demo so they can attempt small sections that would be very useful. Keep having to select separate or slurred is a pain Btw. I really look forward to an improved update. Then I will recommend to pupils. Price is a bit steep for grade 1's!.Version: 1.2
