✓ Waste of time and money.Do NOT use this service if you have an Apple device. It can literally do none of its advertised services. I tried it and got frustrated at how little it could do on Apple. Now part of that is due to Apple’s sandbox configuration which renders a lot of Total AVs claimed services pointless. The problem is they know this and say nothing about it. I canceled my service and unsubscribed multiple times. I was able to get the subscription canceled but routinely receive emails from them about needing to correct my billing to renew. I’ve contacted them multiple times and requested to be removed from their mailings multiple times to which they always reply that they’ve removed me yet I keep getting emails. It’s really annoying. Save yourself time, money and frustration. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!.Version: 1.8.0

✓ Watch your bank accountI downloaded this FREE app onto my phone last year (don’t even remember why), then deleted it within a day. I never filled out any subscription forms or agreed to any services. Just yesterday I noticed an automatic payment from TotalAV for 8.99$. I had to google what it was because I had no clue, and didn’t remember downloading then deleting the app last year. When I looked into my payment history, I saw that I’d been billed for this service every month (that isn’t even installed on my phone), since last January. When I remembered having briefly downloaded then deleted the app, I immediately became livid. I emailed customer service and got some generic response about introductory rates and payments going up, but their service was totally worth it, so I should be happy. Umm...no. Another email response assured me they were working really hard to protect my phone from viruses...but I wonder how they’re doing that when their software isn’t installed on my phone? I obviously need better security if a security company can take unauthorized payments right out of my PayPal account. Download at your own risk..Version: 1.6.0

✓ WiFi and internet affected.I downloaded this app for the simple reason of wanting that extra protection. After I downloaded the app I found that I was unable to connect to my home and workplace wifi. Also my mobile data was affected, eg was also unable to connect to my apps as I didn't have internet from my mobile data. I have two iPhones and both are effected when this app has been downloaded on the devices I would like to know if there is something that can be done so that this doesn't happen as I'd would like to use the app for those reasons that it has been created. ✓ Technology ChallengedI enjoy my iPhone and iPad very much. That being said I don’t understand a whole lot about how everything works. I let whatever device I am using to recommend any changes or new service available. If I’m interested I will continue if I’m not interested or don’t think I will use whatever is being offered I decline. I leaned early on not to change any settings unless I was certain I knew how it might impact anything about the way my device looks or sounds! ✓ Great app, messy breakup.I really liked having this while I had it, but when I wanted to cancel my subscription because I found another app that did what I needed it to, it was nearly impossible to cancel. You have to go via their website, talk to a customer support person who will try to convince you to stay, then you will get an email with confirmation. The confirmation email still makes it hard though, because there is a double negative so that answering “no” is what cancels the subscription. I accidentally pressed the wrong button and had to go through the whole process again, except this time they would not send me the confirmation email until I threatened to write a negative review. At that point they cancelled it for me and offered a refund. 2 weeks later I am still being contacted by them to return, I had to block their email and delete totalav from my chrome browser and all of my devices to be free. Good app, it felt good to use, but the horrible customer service left a bad taste in my mouth..Version: 2.0.3
✓ Scam Subscription:I never signed up for it knowingly unless a download and install did it automatically without my knowledge. Today, I received an email stating they would soon charge me $119 to renew a subscription I never signed up for, can find no evidence of purchase and short of deleting the app, could find no way to cancel a subscription I don't have. Could not cancel on the site and iTunes store or any otherAapple subscription page list TotalAV as something I have but they claim they will bill me AGAIN! at the end of May. I called the number in the email notifying me of the bogus charge and I hear a message saying this number cannot be called or something similar. I've been on Apple platforms since 1985 and never have required any virus protection so why would I buy any? Bottom line: This feels like a scam. ✓ Sneaky expensiveI wish I could give zero stars. Although the app appears to do an ok job. It really is not worth £10 a month! I contacted them and finally got an email that said they were sorry I didn't like their product. It said just follow this link and we will send you your refund. ✓ MisleadingI was directed TotalAV via an advertisement saying the app was available for a one off payment of $3.00. I downloaded the app and while looking through the various functions it became clear the only function that was activated in the free version was the photo gallery organiser. All other options such as VPN, Phone locator, online web security, history eraser, identity breach alert would come at a cost of $84.95 to activate for an annual subscription. ✓ SCAMI downloaded this app because it was a FREE VPN protector. I signed up for a monthly** subscription, but ever since then, they have been upping the amounts of money they have been taking from me. Every month the amount gets higher. The apps subscription does not show up under subscriptions in the settings app, so there is no way to cancel it. I tried emailing the email they gave, but I have been blocked every time. They have been taking my money for months and there is no way for me to cancel my subscription. I have spent hours on this and have had no success. Even though I purchased this specifically to scan my phone for a virus, this was considered a “premium service” unsupported by the plan. You can only cancel your account through calling their support team who will beg and plead you to keep your subscription. Even when you get your subscription cancelled, I received texts and phone calls in the months following to renew my subscription, and you will need to haggle with these callers to get your account cancelled entirely. ✓ Money grabYou’ll get the free week then 7.99 a month, then be asked to check their site for an offer of a phone optimizer for 3.99, which I selected , some free licenses to use multiple devices . iPhones apps have to go through extensive numbers of privacy and security checklists before even available in flight team . Ideally you only need a VPN. I should of read about iPhone security protocols before stressing about the devices security. The data breach was the coolest thing this device offers. But you can read about most data breaches by a quick google search and then go the route of changing your passwords . ✓ DeceptiveThe Company is very deceptive in it’s advertising. The free part is very limited. Everything else is costly. The vpn has no mention of version restrictions so if you are like me with a top of the line 12 core Mac Pro your purchase will not work as that computer cannot be upgraded to an OS that is compatible with the software. My demand for my 39 dollars back has been ignored and they referred me to help pages which are no help. Apple should remove them from the App Store. They should also remove any App that offers lifetime memberships but voids that by imposing os limitations and don’t offer a work around. ✓ Good software terrible vpnI have a v been using this software for three years and went to the top paid service solely to use the VPN, the VPN is terribly hard to connect and it connects for a few minutes and then disables itself. But, it’s so disturbing that it will disconnect from internet anytime if your phone needs an update; you don’t know what is happened, they don’t give any notice. ✓ A nightmare.I purchased this supposedly for $2.99 and $117 dollars later here I am. I’ve never come across a worse VPN security provider. I had this on my iPad and iPhone and it was the worst experience ever. The VPN would close automatically for no reason and it wouldn’t reconnect no matter which location I suggested. I’d had this app for around 24 hours. For many hours now I’ve been in a game of email ping pong trying to get a refund. I paid via PayPal and despite TotalAV telling me I’ve been issued a refund no such notification from PayPal has come through which is normal when a merchant issues a refund. They said they’ve closed my account yet I can still log into it. All of my details are still there including when next payment is due. What a joke. I don’t know what awards they’ve received but I would be giving them a shonky. Don’t believe the hype. I wish I’d scrolled down further on the reviews. I may well not be in the situation I am now. ✓ ScamThought I had made sure everything was turned off for the subscription part and that I was only paying the $3 download. Got a $9 charge the next month. Went to my Apple ID settings. The instructions in the app said it would show up there and could be turned off but there was no subscriptions there so I couldn’t turn anything off. Another month went by and another charge. ✓ Lying marketingTotalAV has very misleading marketing on different platforms. The appstore description is accurate but most people stumble across this advert from social media or clickbait adverts on blogs, which typically states the app does things that apps simply cannot do on iOS. For example i has about this app on a an ad which states “ TotalAV has also included a built-in function to clear up your device by removing unwanted codes, wiping your browser history, and creating additional RAM space to ‘declutter’ the system” (if you google that term you will see the advert). Fundamentally no app can do that on ios, so the whole ad is a scam. Any app that is willing to use scam tactics online but then paints a different picture on the official App Store description CANNOT be trusted, especially with your internet security. ✓ A company with no integrity whatsoever-avoid!I subscribed to TotalAV last year. First, they gave me a price that was okay, although coverage was advertised as “free”. But it was nominal, so I decided to try it. They then took double the amount from my bank account, and I rang them and told them to refund the money and cancel mu subscription. This caused them to apologise and to tell me that the small amount (£3.59 per month) would be the permanent price. Suddenly I received an email from the billing office that advised me that my account was suspended because the June payment didn’t go through. Last week I sent at least ten emails-after checking with my bank to discover that no June bill was EVER presented. I started out being very polite-but TotalAV’s billing and customer service people were completely useless. I believe that they want me to “update the financial information” so that they can increase the price. TotalAV is dishonest, unethical, completely incompetent and disrespectful, and has no integrity whatsoever. I’ve uninstalled them and I’ve gone to another company, one that’s honourable. ✓ Scam preying on fears…This product gets you hooked thinking you’re on one payment when instead they will continue billing you at $9.95/month. I installed it to give it a try at $2.99/month and I had believed that I later went through all the steps to cancel. In fact, I somehow went through enough steps that the app told me my service was expired and meanwhile, I was still getting billed $9.95 a month. I filed a complaint and there was no offer of refund, just a new set of multiple steps to get through so that the subscription would finally end a month later - the subscription the app says I cannot use because it’s expired. ✓ Absolute rip offPlease be aware there is no antivirus for iOS, all this does is over a basic VPN and the scan just checks things like you have a passcode and your iOS is up to date. When you go on company website it kind of misleads that a antivirus scan is performed on your device and it looks for malware surfing. ✓ A very unpleasant experience...So basically I fell victim to their “sting” on Instagram... and believed what they said. I am a bit naive I suspect, because I’ve just been told I should have realised that “If its an ad on Instagram - therefore it is highly likely to be either a con or a ripoff. ✓ Charges your card different amounts even after u cancelI tried the “free trial” when this app first came out & I wasn’t impressed. Not only do you have to pay for the version that actually is worth anything when you try to cancel they never cancel your account and continue charging whatever card you use when you sign up. They even try different amounts every day especially if the amount they try is declined. ✓ It’s great when it worksI suppose it’s a good VPN. I wouldn’t really know because most of the time it’s not on. Customer service is very difficult to talk to. I have a hard time communicating with them through messaging. It would be nice to actually talk to a human being. I suppose there’s a way to do that I just haven’t found it yet. Don’t really have too much trouble with it on the computer. The big problem is on my phone. Whether I’m at home or out somewhere else the VPN just disconnects from the server whenever it feels in the mood. And of course when I’m at home and it disconnects from the server I am also disconnected from my own Wi-Fi, so then I’m using data that I didn’t know I was going to use because I thought I was on my Wi-Fi network. For the service they charge you a yearly subscription fee. The most important service this would provide is the VPN or virtual private network which protects her phone from sniffing attacks, oppressive government‘s and snooping Internet service providers. Unfortunately,The app over reports it’s effectiveness using data and graphs and yet none of the services offered are very well-maintained or produce a very good outcome. the VPNs often not engaged, the ad blocker doesn’t block many ads. When you have problems, contacting tech-support is near impossible. When you decide this isn’t worth it, it is near impossible to cancel your subscription. The subscription is not through Apple’s subscription manager so it’s nearly impossible to cancel the reoccurring payment to them. We’ve seen this type of app many times before committing to reoccurring payments is easy, using the app not very easy, canceling the payment not very easy.
