✓ This app is changing my life!I usually don’t write reviews so this is a big deal. I love listening to audiobooks whenever I can, when I’m driving, washing the dishes, cleaning the house, so I go through a lot of books. But audible wasn’t an option for me because it’s too expensive. Finding this app was like striking gold for me. I am so grateful to the developer beyond words. If you’re ever looking for a way to make this app even better, might I suggest creating an option to edit the titles within the app? ✓ Best app for listening to audiobooks imported from Google driveI had an audiobook MP3 from Google drive that I could not get to play in iTunes or 4 other audiobook apps. This one is the only one that would actually continuously play the files in order. The sound is good and it remembers my place even when I close the app. My only confusion is that there is a delay after selecting the book from Google drive before it begins to download. So I didn’t know that it was working. I wish it would give a status report that says please be patient while files are loaded for those like me that are technically challenged..Version: 3.3.1
✓ Solid app needs one thing thoughIt's a solid app really no complaints. The one thing that I want though is the ability to save custom sleep timers. It does allow you to set them. But you have to reset them every night. I personally like a 45 minute timer but it gets a bit annoying having to set it every night before bed. That's the only thing keeping it from 5 stars. ✓ Almost perfectThis app is almost perfect. Only improvements I can think of: 1. On my pre CarPlay car with Bluetooth the title and progress bar keep disappearing and reappearing while I’m playing a book which is rather disorienting. It was fine on an old version of the app from early April 2022 so it seems to be a regression. Not a huge deal but a nice to have. 2. Would be nice to have more advanced options for rewinding eg 1-2 s whenever there was a brief pause (eg for navigation directions) Other than that this app is excellent!.Version: 5.0.7

✓ Love it so far!I am on the road all the time and live on audio books in the car. I use the library and would copy CD audio books into the audiobooks section in iTunes. Now that Apple Music has broken out the Books app the synchronization of audio book files is hit or miss at best and was making CD audio books all but unusable. Books is great if you want to buy books from the Apple store but that’s about it. With this app I can easily burn the CDs in Apple Music and then Airdrop them right into BookPlayer. It picks up the file where you left off even if you completely close the app and gives you control over listening speed and includes a sleep timer. One note- when you Airdrop the all the files of a single book it will not automatically group them into one book in your BookPlayer library. To do this manually after the files are processed pick “Create New Playlist”. You can then name the playlist with the name of the book and you’re good to go..Version: 3.6.1
✓ Easy to useVery nice and simple app does what it’s supposed to. One improvement that will help is: Being able to select more than 1 file and moving them into a playlist rather than 1 by 1. Currently when importing from iTunes I have to import a book and then add it into a playlist before I can import the next, otherwise I have to put them all into the same playlist or keep them in the library. ✓ A gem of a findAs others have said, if you have an audio file on your desktop, getting it into iTunes or some other app is not easy and often unsuccessful. With iCloud, I can pick up my audio books off my desktop and store them on my iphone for as long as I need them, from just about anywhere There is a snooze function and playback rate (for those who want it; I am a strictly 1.0 playback speed kinda guy), and it remembers your place when you stop, so you can carry on from where you left off. ✓ The best and only audiobook player you needThis app is incredible. I've tried many bookplayers both freeware and paid, this is the clear winner for my use. When not using a subscription audiobook service (aidiblenetc), I use this. I even have gone through the trouble to rid my apple books audio imports and switched them to this. Apple screwed me with the iTunes switch years back on mac OS. Lost so many of my audiobooks on the "upgrade". Now, I simply use a cloud space of my choice to store unabridged or chaptered audiobooks (even zip files) and simply airdrop them or import them to the audiobook player app. It can even combine multifile audiobooks into one. Magical. I suggest leaving a tip in app if your as pleased as I am with the app..Version: 4.7.2
✓ ITunes no longer neededPreviously needed iTunes to side load audiobooks onto iPhone with inherent problems we’re used to the tunes especially when recategorising from mp3 to audiobook format. Now using the new Folders access and a suitable drive it’s a breeze with this app. Well worth the discretionary “tip” for the developers. 5 stars easily. One improvement to consider would be the addition of a custom time delay to the sleep timer at a future upgrade..Version: 3.11.0
✓ Great app but siri shortcuts limitedReally wish that it would be able to integrate with Siri shortcuts to play a specific book instead of just the last one that was played. Otherwise it’s a fast app and the widget is great with one click playback of an audiobook as compared to the Audible widget which is just terrible. Siri Shortcuts thing is kind of a big deal for me because I like to start my day listening to audiobooks, portions of various ones, without touching my phone and getting all distracted. So I tell Siri which books to read and audible has a shortcut that allows to select any of the books in the library and play them and I really wish this app had it and then it would be perfect in my eyes..Version: 4.5.0
✓ Nearly perfectBookPlayer is awesome, I listen to every audiobook I can in it. My only small issue is that when listening to a single-file book, or after having combined into a volume, it’s way too easy to accidentally scroll the progress bar on the Lock Screen or in the player and end up hours off my listening position. I wish there was a setting to lock progress bar seeking and just use ↩️↪️ unless I need it. For this reason I have to avoid single .m4b files or combining into volumes, but this means an extra step to resume a book by scrolling the chapter list..Version: 5.0.7

✓ Awesome app, with some small issuesI love the looks and the features, but after using it for 6 months, there are some painful issues: It’s buggy. Same chapter is displayed multiple times in the list of chapters. During playback, when screen is locked, a progress bar is shown and you can use it to jump to a different position - seems potentially useful, but in practice if you get your phone out of the pocket, you are likely to accidentally change your position - and the app doesn’t make it easy to see what your previous position was. When deleting a book, it doesn’t remind you that there are some bookmarks that you might want to check out before deletion. When combining chapters into a volume or back, all bookmarks are lost too - it doesn’t tell you that you will loose them..Version: 5.0.9

Impressive BookPlayer that works every time and downloading a new audiobook straight to my device is as simple as pressing add book then choosing which app to add it from.. FYI I found downloading from my iCloud account to be the best way because it starts out with the size of the download and quickly starts counting down the mb’s until it hits zero so you know how much has been downloaded and what’s remaining.. 👍🏻👍🏻 Addon: I love the book marker idea because I fall asleep to audiobooks so I can add a marker when I lay down and if I forget to set a timer I can always go back to my last book marker and adjust from there...Version: 4.6.1

Bookmobile used to be my go-to player for books I've downloaded from the library, but lately, there's an issue with the player jumping like 40 or more minutes forward when I press the 30-second rewind from my notifications or lock screen. So far, this app doesn't have that problem, and it's a breeze to use. I like how I can upload audio files from my Dropbox account. ✓ Bookplayer is user friendlyI’ve been using bookplayer on my laptop and Ipad for a few years now. I use it for audiobooks and podfics and it works awesomely with both. It’s the only app that allows me to change reading speed by 5% intervals and the sleep function makes it easy to set a timer that suits me best. ✓ I LOVE this appI listen to a lot of audiobooks, pretty much always have one going on my phone. I use Audible, Chirp, hardly ever the iTunes Store because the Apple player and I are not compatible. It also keeps track of where you are in the audiobook. Whoever put this together really thought about what they were doing. ✓ The best audiobook app out there, but worried about futureThis is my first comment for any app that I have ever downloaded. Seriously, it’s that good. I have tried many audiobook apps over the past couple years, and they all had something that annoyed me. Time limits for your audiobooks, hard to use and navigate, or difficult to import files. Not only does this app solve all of these problems, it is so amazingly designed you would think that apple made it themselves. The only thing that worries me about this app is that good free apps like these usually do not become free after a while, and features that used to be free are suddenly paid features. Developers, if you’re reading, please don’t take away any existing free features and make them paid. It’s how all good apps are ruined and makes the user base extremely angry. ✓ Not bad but need some improvementI like that you can import files from iCloud Drive to your phone but it’s super annoying to have to sit there and click on each one and then click done and wait for it to download when you could just add an option to download an entire folder or more than one at once without prompting on each click. with the current set up I had to complete a four step process to import each chapter times the number of chapters which was like 37 on the book I was reading. so to be more clear you need an option to select multiple files a.k.a. chapters when importing instead of having to click OK and back on the ad files but in between each chapter individually..Version: 4.7.0

In their wisdom, Apple does not (yet?) support M4B audiobooks natively on Apple Watch unless you buy those M4B audiobooks from Apple. If Apple doesn’t offer the audiobook title you want (or if you’ve already obtained or purchased the audiobook elsewhere) that title is excluded from the native Apple Watch ecosphere. (Note: I say “native” Apple Watch M4B audiobook, which is different from the Apple Watch functioning as a remote control for an M4B audiobook that is playing on an iPhone.) Until Apple resolves this issue, this app is the closest you will get to a “native Apple Watch” M4B audiobook experience. And it’s free!!.Version: 4.7.2
✓ Best Audio Book PlayerHave been using this for the last 12 months and have to say it’s the best book player out there with a nice interface and it’s free. Nicely bookmarks where you have got to so next time you load up the app it just carries on from where it left off and the snooze function is excellent, use it nearly every night. My only improvement I could suggest would be to utilise iCloud so as to be able to sync across multiple devices for instance being able to use iPhone during the day and iPad at night. ————————— I have now dropped this a star as per my original suggestion it now supports iCloud sync across devices but as a subscription based feature. The subscription costs are too high especially now when people are struggling financially and have to prioritise what they are spending on. Only thing stopping me from giving it 5Stars is the lack of ability to add your own bookmarks with custom labels and than be able to jump to them. I especially am very glad to see that bookmarks are automatically generated for each chapter (I believe this is actually a feature of the m4b audiobook file format, but I’m not aware of any other app that does this) Very convenient! I hope that they will soon implement downloading and streaming files from the cloud; specifically, I hope they implement NextCloud (aka ownCloud or WebDAV) support. The app called CloudBeats has a wide variety of cloud support, including NextCloud, and I like how it’s been implemented there but they reserve some basic app functionality for premium users. I have instead opted to use BookPlayer as it is open source and doesn’t require payment for basic features. Excellent app. I’m happy to tip! ✓ Great App for audio books!This has a been a great app for listening audiobooks at work and out and about! I have been with the app for several different updates and I greatly enjoyed all the updates. The smart rewind feature and quick chapter/bookmark jumps making getting back into whatever I was listening. And the controls are nice and simple but have enough settings to adjust to your preferences. At first I noticed there were a few issues with skipping or the app force closing, but updates always addressed those issues and I have not noticed any lately. I also enjoy the ease on which I can import my own audiobooks with the chapters and audiobook divisions translating to the app as well. Makes listening very quick and easy once you have added an audiobook! Checking off each chapter also helped me know where I am and how much longer a chapter or book has left. Overall I really like this app being on IOS and having so many others out there with payment options..Version: 4.6.0

✓ Finally an app to import from my iPhone filesBeen trying to find an app that can simply import mp3 audio files that were already on my iPhone. I found that the basic audio file player that comes with the Apple iOS didn’t allow me to see the file titles or the speaker / author (been downloading teachings/lessons, etc,). Also a lot of other apps just didn’t seem to allow the import of mp3 files like these. This gets it done. Very easy to import large audio files I already had in the Files app/folder, and it automatically attaches the name of the speaker and the title of the message. Very helpful app. 👍.Version: 3.12.0

✓ Simple, bugless, no annoying ads or pop ups.This app is extremely simple. There are no ads, no glitches, and no pop ups. Pretty much nothing that annoyed me about the other 5 apps I tried. I have audio book files that I pulled off of CDs and uploaded to my google drive. They imported to this app from there easily. There are a million features that people might like which are missing from this app (pause from iPhone headphone button, select multiple files at a time, separate files from different books into their own folders, FFW/RWD) which I would've liked, but the features that it has work flawlessly. Namely, it remembers where you left off, allows control from lock screen, and doesn't have annoying bugs or ads. The worst annoyance that OTHER APPS tend to have is that they forget where I left off or skip around in between listenings. This app played exactly where I left off perfectly every time I opened the app. That reliability is my favorite thing about it. Following that, its simplicity and playback speed control make using it a very pleasant experience. As long as they keep these characteristics, this will be the only app I will ever use again for audiobooks. I very much enjoy how it is designed and functions. ✓ Excellent for non-protected audiobooksI was using iBooks and Audible apps as both can access non-DRM files loaded via iTunes. Neither was ideal as this is a secondary function for both. Plus I wanted to add audiobooks without syncing to iTunes, i.e. as and when by downloading from my NAS. There aren’t many audiobook player apps that aren’t tied to a library service but there doesn’t need to be when this one stands out. It works really well with the right features and well implemented. Also many do not handle playing your own audiobooks, they want you to purchase the audiobooks from them. This app allows me to play, replay, without advertising, audiobooks. I also really enjoy how it can be set to, once the playback has been paused, re-play a portion of the book so that I can remember where I was in the story when I left off. I also like how it maintains where I left off in all the audiobooks that are loaded. On IOS, I get the book on iPhone using file sharing feature. When prompted, I add playlist to BookPlayer. No problem. Works great. When finished with book, I delete the playlist from bookplayer. However I don’t think the files are coming off iPhone because my storage available doesn’t change. Nor can I find the book anywhere on my phone. ✓ Finally, an app for my audiobooksOver the years I have downloaded Overdrive books as well as audiobooks on cd’s with the intent of listening to them eventually on an iPod. With the advent of Bluetooth earbuds, it has become much more convenient to listen wirelessly while working in the yard or working out. I wanted to use my old iPhone 5S like an iPod, but Apple only offered Apple Music as a player when I copied my books from iTunes on my MacBook to my old phone. But that app didn’t allow bookmarks, faster listening speeds or certainty that your place in the book would be the same if you stopped listening, then started again the next day. So often, Apple Music would start up at the beginning of your current file, which file could be 70 minutes long. It’d be a pain in the neck to have to keep fast forwarding the audio to find the place where you had left off. I started to screen shot the player so that I could more easily regain my position if Apple Music had decided to go back to the 0:00 position. Thankfully, with BookPlayer, I have an app that solves all of the problems with Audiobooks that Apple Music ignored..Version: 3.10.1

✓ Great startI always support public domain developers. This is a great start. I’ve used and/or beta tested almost every audiobook player out there over the last several years starting back when Bookmarks was still around. There are lots of improvements I could suggest by cherry picking features of everything still out there but I will resist tabulating all these except one which is the need to be able to access audiobooks sync’d to the phone from iTunes to be played in the native iBooks app. Using iTunes file sharing or Dropbox etc. works but it’s way more steps than should be necessary. I know it can be done since AudBooks, Undulib, and Bookmobile can all do it (great pay apps btw). That said, this effort deserves support as it develops since in the end a solid free player continually updated has to be welcome. I’ve often thought I’d give Swift a try just to write an app identical to this. Now I see it’s flowering on github. Need a beta tester who listens daily? ;-). Thanks! Keep it up..Version: 3.2.1
✓ Better than Apple BooksAfter spending an hour trying to get my brand new MacBooik Pro M2 to connect to my iPhone via 10 different cables (kept getting error to reimagine my phone!), I downloaded this app, downloaded the .m4b to my iPhone via iCloud and this app imported the book no issues, it just worked. Maybe Apple can hire these guys to make their MacOS and iPhoneOS?.Version: 5.0.3
✓ Solid start with plenty of room for improvementDownloaded today an immediately started using on a long car drive. Can already say this is a great app. Easy integration with my iPhone X and was able to upload a book from my computer via AirDrop before I left. My only wish for the future is Google Drive integration. I tend to store my audiobooks there instead of in iCloud or on my computer. Having Google Drive or other cloud services integration as an option would allow me to download a new audiobook after I finish the last one if I’m not near my computer..Version: 3.3.0
