✓ Good but…This is an amazing game to play if you want to unwind or if you just want to have fun while being creative. Yet I do wish that there was more options for free when I finished my one week trial I couldn’t use many colours and the picture choices were very limited. I would recommend either deleting the app after the free trial or only getting it if you’re willing to spend A LOT of money. ✓ At first, niceAt first, it is a nice app with very interesting and unique features, but it is a very glitchy app. I found a lot of the images were only for premium. I also didn’t like that whenever you wanted to save an image to color the next day, it lost all of your colors that you created on the color wheel. It was also a little disappointing that some of the brushes didn’t show a lot of texture. My biggest problem with this app is that after a couple of days from downloading, it kicked you out after a couple of seconds no matter how many times you try. I would be so happy to try this app again if you fixed this bug/error, but until then, I feel as if I have no use to spend my time on this app, or at least trying to get it to load. Don’t feel bad about this review, I am just very picky about apps and all of their details. I notice a lot of things about them, so again, don’t feel bad. Again, I would be so happy if you fixed the bug. In the beginning it is a lovely app and it might just be my device, but my phone is brand new..Version: 3.5.2
✓ What have you done?This was a good app, with creative possibilities in the free version, although limited colour pallet. Now it has been updated, it is rubbish. There are evidently 3 different intensities of colours in the wheel, but no instructions anywhere as to how to access them. I did it by accident, and don’t know how. A picture I was half way through colouring yesterday is now showing as locked, ( in my studio ) so I can’t finish it. My previous pictures have been saved in duplicate, not in the gallery. When trying to move them back to the gallery, some of the colours have disappeared. Never seen anything so bizarre..Version: 3.0
✓ Can’t do anything unless you pay- a scam basicallyI get that when you make an app you need to make money. I get unlocking some of the stuff unless you pay for it, or watching adds very once in a while. But this app is RIDICULOUS. I got it today and started on a mood journal, where you put your mood and it gives you colors to go along with it. It was fun and the whole design was cute. Once I’m done I try to find other things to color. Turns out, they have tons of coloring pages but only 19 are unlocked. Out of at least a couple hundred coloring pages, you only get 19. That’s about 10.5 percent at the most. You can lock even half you drawings for the free version and that’s still more reasonable. Or lock only a few but then you have to watch an ad to get the rest of them. Ads make money, developers, the thing you want so bad is not that hard to get. I guess it’s ruin the whole calm feeling of the game, but you can’t even get hat. I thought, “well, even if almost all of the coloring pages are locked I still have the mood journal.” No, you have to pay for that too. Also, you can only free draw with premium. I love how the game is set up and it has a lot of potential, but you can’t make a game free and then only let a tiny portion of it actually be free. I get locking some things or using ads, but I can basically do nothing on this app. If you’re reading this, don’t get it unless you’re willing to pay Premium..Version: 3.34.2
✓ CrashesLake has always been my favorite coloring app and although I use it off and on, I've been using it for years. I love the variety of templates and I love the simple coloring interface. I just recently started using it again after a long hiatus and was very pleasantly surprised with the new (to me) journaling feature! However, another new feature since the last time I used Lake is all the crashing. :( It happened to me several times while I was trying to organize the art in my studio. It happened a few more times while I was browsing new templates to unlock. Finally and most frustratingly, it crashed when I clicked "done" after finishing a coloring page. When I opened the app again, all my work was gone. I was so frustrated I don't even want to open it again to start over. I read a few other recent reviews of this app that also mention all the crashing. Please please PLEASE fix this issue. I love Lake and was even hoping to subscribe with your Black Friday deal now that I'm using it again. But with all of these issues it's definitely not worth it, and sadly the app is unusable..Version: 3.20.0
✓ Fix all the problems please it's so irritatingThis app is good and makes you feel kinda relaxed ( tbh I mean no I feel the same ).I think it’s fair that a lot of the pictures cost money because the artists spend a lot of work on each book of picture but I don’t think it’s fair that we can’t use blank canvas or that we can’t use some brushes and colours. But overall it’s fun to colour on this app. Oh yeah and red and orange are really important colours in my colouring, so I'm begging u to PLEASE add them cause I can never do rainbow. ✓ Overpriced app worldAnother app pantomiming for your well-being but needs you to fork over copious amounts of money. Do free versions truly even exist anymore for any apps? In order to just use a color book, I need to pay a company? For digital coloring? After a few weeks, this company like many others will have their app basically lose all its performance and functional quality in a stubborn standoff to get you to pay for their app. My “art” isn’t being saved and whatever free options that are available are growing smaller and smaller. Maybe this companies should just only offer free trial instead of parade around like their app is usuable without purchasing it. ✓ Good, then badSo I played this before the newest update and it was great! I loved the layout and design of the app and I loved getting to use any colour. There was still stuff to pay money for like more artists drawings but one on each was enough for me. ✓ Interesting, but can be improvedThe interface and art in the app are two very unique and fun things about it. However, it seems this app is more “freemium” (leaning more on the “premium” side of that word) as you only have access to a small handful of drawings at a time. It doesn’t help that a lot of the free drawings are fairly simple and don’t take much time to complete, while the payed drawings are the more intricate ones. As someone who doesn’t have much money, this makes me a little sad. I have such limited options and no way to fix that. Another problem I’ve encountered is that while you CAN adjust colors to your liking, there’s no way to up the saturation on colors. You’re stuck with pastels or muddy, darker versions of colors. If I wanted a nice rich orange or red I’d be out of luck! So, some suggestions: 1) I’m not saying get rid of the pay wall, but maybe make it so that people can watch a certain amount of ads to either unlock a specific drawing or unlock certain collections. 2) Make it so that people can finally adjust the saturation on colors. I will say, if anyone reading this review has the money for a membership and is willing to spend that money: PLEASE DO! It’s a beautiful app with gorgeous art and the artists who drew all this art deserve so much love!.Version: 3.5

✓ UghhhWhen I first downloaded this app, about September 2019, it was great. I loved it. I thought everything was a bit expensive but in every booklet there were 1 or 2 free drawing which I could do so I didn’t feel like I had to pay. Also, I could always just do my own drawing on blank canvas. Now, redownloading it on my new iPad almost 8 months later, you have to pay for EVERYTHING. I’m not even kidding, there are like 7 free drawings in the whole app and they’re only the bad ones. You can’t even use the blank canvas feature one single time without paying. You can do nothing and it is disgraceful. I don’t see the point of making an app free if in order to use it you have to pay anyway. ✓ Great coloring app but various new bugs?I used to use this app all the time, and forgot about it for a few months. I tried a few different coloring apps and this was the only one that stayed on my phone. That being said, I came back to it recently, colored for a while and when I locked my phone to do something else, 90% of the progress I made over ten minutes was gone and the picture was nearly blank. So disappointing! Later on, I was going through pages I started but never finished from a long time ago. I clicked on one I wanted to complete and it turned black. Like every section. I selected hot pink and clicked a random spot and it filled it in, it literally just filled all the spots with black and I took forever layering colors in that particular picture. There was no undo button either when it first turned black, there was no going back from that. Super disheartened that my experience coming back to this app is dusted with disappointment when this used to be one of my favorite apps..Version: 3.1

✓ Why did you have to change?Lake was a great app. It was recently updated and the for what it’s worth, the interface has changed for the better. However, things they said would not be taken away from you if you subscribed (even for a month) have now been removed and hidden behind their monthly sub fee. Now, if you do not finish your painting and your sub runs out, the painting now becomes locked until you resubscribe. Same thing with collections that were previously free, such as Spoonflower. The amount of free paintings is now dramatically reduced as well. Overall, I’m disappointed. If I could buy collections or even artist books that would stay unlocked as long as I purchased them, I would in a heartbeat. As it stands now, paying $8 a month (or $60 a year... what a _steal_) is a ripoff if you’re just going to take away everything from me if I can no longer pay the fee..Version: 3.0
✓ Locking up and now it’s crashing...For several weeks now I’ve been unable to access anything in “All Art” Collections. It refuses to open completely; will only show the first four books(if the artwork/covers even load on these). If I click on any collections that show, it won’t open. I can’t click on any of the other selections at the top of the page and I can’t get out of it to go back to “Hey”, “My Studio” or anything else. I have to close out of the app completely. A few times I’ve been able to go to “All Art” and select from other subjects but now those have stopped working as well. I did an update last week and I was able to access “All Art” once before it went back to locking up. I just did the most recent update and now it still locks up and now it’s crashing completely. I can’t get in long enough to go to Support to get help. This app has gotten so clunky. I took advantage of the discounted sub(an offer during the beginning of Covid). When my subscription runs out I’m not going to get it back. No way I would pay full(far too expensive)subscription after this experience. ✓ Review for ChristiansKnowing I’ll get roasted for this review, I’m putting it forth anyway. Over Christmas I downloaded this app to “color” and bond more with my young granddaughter. We colored a lot of Christmas pages which was great! All was well, so I paid for a yearly subscription. Upon returning home and delving more into the app, I noticed a LOT of occult, supernatural, horoscope and even witch-themed artists. You do you and all, I’m not saying they shouldn’t be here, but had I known there were so many, I would’ve steered clear of this app. In the beginning we were mainly focused on Christmas/holiday art. Once I discovered the occult aspect, I canceled right away. I will still use the app until the subscription runs out, but reluctantly. ✓ Some mixed feelings hereOverall, Lake is a great game. I love that you can see other people’s art and support them. But the amount of art you get (for free) is not fair. There are 60 coloring books, which seems like a lot, but you only get 1 coloring page for each book. It makes the number a LOT smaller when you think about preferences; my brother, for example, doesn’t want the ones with flowers or “cute” things. I don’t really want the ones with monsters and such, and sometimes I don’t like the artist’s style, the art itself, or I just don’t like a specific thing about it, which only gives me about 20 things to color— and that is about the size of a 7-year-old’s coloring book. The one-a-day coloring pages are occasionally cool, but they’re usually simple designs that don’t leave much space for creativity. I think it would be better to let you have more pages without having to pay. Maybe you could watch an ad to get a page?? Besides all that, I really do think it’s a good game..Version: 2.4.9

✓ It's great but...I had this app on my iPad and I really enjoyed coloring on it. It has great capabilities and fun color palettes as well as simple controls, BUT I absolutely hate that it requires a subscription. On the app store it's shown as free to use and a simple coloring book app. And while it is simple and fun, it's not entirely free. Every time I click on a page that I just want to preview, it tells me to pay. And the selection of art that is actually free is very limited. It's irritating that I have to pay just to color. It's great that you're supportive of small artists but the fact that the app is listed as free with a tiny selection of actual free content is a little ridiculous to me. That and you would be paying $10 a month just for a small brush collection. Again, while I do think this a great coloring app and has amazing potential, the content is just underwhelming. ✓ Wishing for moreI ended up trying lake because i liked the focus on independent artists and the emphasis on supporting them, not taking advantage of them for profit. additionally, i’ve found that it has the most illustrations/artists that fit my personal style preference. that said, i can’t help but feel that it falls short in a few major ways. it absolutely needs a couple more coloring tools - why there is no crayon/colored pencil type option is beyond me. i find myself using competing apps like Pigment because i just can’t enjoy the limited brush styles offered by Lake - three brushes, limited size adjustment, and no adjustment of opacity? just feels like a let down for the cost of a subscription coloring app. as for the color palette - although the idea of the rainy, cloudy, and sunny palettes is cute and is a very nice way to explore colors, i do long for an option that allows finer tuning, and the creation of custom palettes or the saving of colors beyond the 6-8 colors in the history panel. last, one little annoyance i always find myself frustrated with is the very limited recall of the undo option, especially when there’s no tap-to-undo on ipad and i constantly find myself accidentally placing small marks on the canvas that end up requiring erasing the entire section. anyways, in short - nice illustrations, great artists, cute interface - just lacking quite a bit in terms of real coloring tools..Version: 3.7.2
✓ Hoped it wasn’t like this, but it was.I’ve used a lot of apps. About 15 of those were this type of thing. In every single one, I’ve found that you can’t do anything for free. Sure, in this one, there are a few free paintings You can do. But for me, there were only 9 free paintings. NINE! And none of them looked interesting. The only reason it wasn’t a one-star was because I liked the feature where when you were coloring it wouldn’t let you color outside the lines. Another annoying thing was that pretty much everything was locked if you didn’t have premium. Want to change the intensity of your color? Pay us for it! Want to make your own drawing? Pay us for it! ✓ Lovely, but buggy since recent updateI'm a subscriber, so obviously a fan! It's the most polished colouring app I've used and has a lot of space for creativity. The colour wheel is beautifully designed and makes it very easy to move between shades. Unfortunately the recent update has caused me a few problems. All my artworks were duplicated and none were saved in the gallery, so I had to spend a while sorting that out. More annoyingly, any artwork that I'd accessed before the update but not coloured is now stuck in the studio with a little "loading" icon on it. I love the idea of the studio... so it's a shame that it's cluttered with all these inaccessible uncoloured drawings! I also really wish I could build my own palettes as it would make coming back to an artwork a lot easier. It'd be cool to be able to pick from a selection of preloaded palettes as well. ✓ Good, however😔This app is full of truly lovely and imaginative and inspiring dedigns that I so desperately want to try out, yet there is only on draw back: I am told that I need to pay £6.99 per month to use these lovely designs. This app should be all as bout and says that it is all about relaxing and unwinding yet you have to pay a lot of money for it. All I want is a good colouring app that is free. I rated this app three stars out of a possible five because this app has other users of the app that create designs on it for you to colour in yourself and once you learn the techniques and how to work the colour wheel, then you will enjoy the app, slightly yet your choices are limited. ✓ Good but it used to be betterI LOVE this app! The colouring is amazing! There are lots of really beautiful and fun drawings. The only thing I have a complaint about is that it used to be so much better when you got a free drawing for all the artists. I understand that they need to make money off the subscriptions, but you can only colour in a couple drawings, whereas before you could do one free one for each artist. It was much more enjoyable then. I’m not allowed to pay for subscription, but this is still a great app even if you can’t unlock everything..Version: 3.5.1

✓ Just okayI purchased a year of Lake because it was slightly less expensive than another popular coloring app. I wish I would have just paid for the other one. My complaints can be summed up in one word: underwhelming. There are not enough colors. You can only pick colors from a preset series of palettes. There are not enough brushes. You can pick from two brush types, a fill setting, and a spray setting. There are no blenders. There is not enough variety in artwork. The artists seem to have similar styles. It’s hard to navigate within an artists’ works. If I like an illustration and want to see more from that artist, I have to navigate back to the art menu. I can’t search for their name. The app itself works well. It looks polished and artsy. But for someone who truly wants to create art, seek another app..Version: 3.23.0
✓ Needs improvementI think this app needs improvement I think it is a really good app for like coloring and I am very very picky person about apps but it gives you all the supplies for coloring that you need to like make use of successful but they do they have to make like what I don’t like about it is that they have make you wait till like I could draw something they have to make you wait 25 minutes to wait to draw another thing and it’s very creative app but I wouldn’t recommend getting it because of like a lot of glitches and it’s gotten like whenever I try to zoom out it starts coloring and then it gets really annoying so yeah and that’s why every day of three star so yes if you don’t agree with me it’s OK but this is just my opinion everyone else has other opinions and I respect that but this is just my point of you and yes I certainly do love the app I am as I said in the beginning I am a very picky person about apps and I also love how creative this app is so without other to say everything’s a three star hopefully it gets better with the app and I can read a five star sooner or if not but yes thank you for letting me respond to your app and yes hopefully you respond and fix or you don’t have to fix for me but it’s OK.Version: 2.4.6
✓ Don’t even botherI got a free week trial from Lake and I’ve been trying it out. Coloring isn’t actually that easy in this app unless you have a stylus or pen to go along with it. I’m on an iPhone and in order to tap to fill a color in I have to zoom in all the way so my finger doesn’t accidentally hit something else. On top of that, I have to scroll with both fingers to move he canvas and it’s a hassle. Sometimes my finger will hit another part of the canvas and fill it in on accident. This app is more frustrating than relaxing for me, but I’m sure I can chalk that up to being on an iPhone. Let’s also not forget about the $40 subscription fee, which in my opinion doesn’t even seem worth it. I think this app would benefit from a $5 month subscription rather than an annual, and there is no way I’m paying $40 every year for this..Version: 3.30.1

✓ Horrible!I have been using this app on and off for a few months. Their is literally nothing to do! I’m a free user and I literally can’t do anything without paying😡 The last time I got back on, I was in the process of colouring a daily picture. ✓ Crashes and unable to save journal entriesI really love this app so much but the fact that it crashes so often and leaves my journal entries unfinished and unable to go back in at a later time to see it again or complete it is so upsetting.
