Agora 2 for Negative User Reviews

This app is cheeksThis is bad, looks really nice but nah no thanks, can someone tell me how I can get a refund the app keeps crashing or pausing randomly and isn’t really useable for long periods of time, I really want to use the app because it does look so damn nice but in all honesty the Apple podcast app is more reliable and I’m just going to stick to that.Version: 2.5.2

Unresponsive developerI paid for the icon change feature but deleted the app afterwards. I eventually decided to come back to it and restore purchases, but it won’t let you because that button is nonfunctional and errors out. I’ve contacted the developer via the in-app support button as well as through Twitter to no response more than a week later. I don’t care if I only spent a buck. Small purchases here and there add up and it’s the principle here, not the amount. I’m not paying again for a feature that I already paid for..Version: 2.5.2

Hard to navigateA very pretty app but it’s hard to navigate. Small thumbnails for podcast art even when choosing the larger thumbnail option. Also I was only able to import half of my podcasts and then unable to find the other ones in the discovery/add section..Version: 1.3.2

Great beginning. Interface is confusingI love the sleek and minimalist design. However the interface is a bit confusing. I can’t really tell where my main subscriptions are as I can only see the playlist menu. I’d like to be able to see a menu for all my podcast subscriptions. Also Apple Watch support would be nice in the future..Version: 1.3.2

Some good points....Some good points but not able to play video consistently and pretty buggy. Wouldn’t recommend.Version: 2.3

Looks and works like a beautiful mock-upThe app is beautiful, albeit clunky and lacking features. While other podcast apps allow manual refresh, I have to just wait and hope Agora will load in the most recent podcasts. (Update: it turns out I needed to pull to refresh in the library section, not very intuitive in my experience) It also doesn’t allow for changing skip increments from 30s forward and back. Actions feel buried under multiple gestures and it’s easy to loose your sense of space while browsing podcasts in the library. Overall the learning curve is relatively high because Agora does not follow common design pattens in iOS. On top of this, Agora’s on-boarding process only uses text, it’s difficult to just figure out how things work. Otherwise, there is a lot of thoughtful haptic feedback, dark mode based on screen brightness, and a now playing queue which works great. All in all, this is a beautiful app, but it needs attention with regard to user experience. I’m looking forward to seeing how this app progresses..Version: 2.0.2

No chapter support, & show notes look weirdThis is a nicely designed app and I was going to give it a chance as my main podcast app. But the show notes format are all screwed up. For example, if it’s an outline, the hierarchy is flattened to a list. Also links are broken so that they are underlined, but tapping them doesn’t do anything. The biggest problem is no chapter support. I need to be able the skip to specific chapters and easily skip to the next one. A lot of podcast don’t even make use of show notes or chapters so, if none of yours do, give this player a shot because it’s pretty good. But for me I just can’t..Version: 2.5.6

Useless appThe app crash on importing Apple podcasts app, ux/ui very confusing. I will try to get my money back as the Apple podcasts app is much better..Version: 1.1

Lacks essential features! No Apple Watch or CarPlay support! Can’t resume playback with multi use button on any of my Bluetooth headsets! The UI is nice and the gestures are intuitive but without support for certain features I can’t really recommend it. There are too many other great apps out there that support these things..Version: 2.3

Great looking but...Playback is finicky at best on my iPhone X. Unfortunately, playback is at the core of your app. Also, I « bought you a coffee » to get some extras but when I re-opened the app, I lost the privileges and it now says that I never bought you any and restoring purchases throws an error. You might have the most awesome looking app and the best UI/UX on the app store but if the back-end doesn’t work properly and consistently, I find it hard to justify using it let alone paying for it. I hope you’re going fix this as soon as you can because don’t get me wrong, your app has huge potential. 👍🏻.Version: 2.4.2

PLEASE add iPad support.I almost fell in love with this app. It’s got a beautiful and interesting interface on the iPhone but on the iPad Pro it launches completely sideways and in the center of the screen. I’m a heavy iPad Pro user and without proper support for the device I need to say goodbye. I need a player that looks native to both platforms and one that I can sync my progress across. You’ll be missed Agora, I barely knew ya..Version: 2.0.2

Love the app and the design. The design and interface of the app is spectacular and it's so very intuitive. My only qualm is that I can't scrub through a podcast as when I try to it goes back to the point in the podcast it was playing so if I try to go to the beginning it just goes right back to my current point. I'm not sure if I'm just doing something wrong or? Thank you for making an otherwise great app.Version: 2.1

2.99 and in app purchases too?I want a refund. Paid for this and now I'm getting prompted to pay more to change certain options, seriously? I understand that devs need to make money but when you purchase an app the general expectation is to not have to pay more to unlock all the features. Needs work too, importing Apple podcasts doesn't work at all either, and it takes 3 taps just to play an episode..Version: 2.1

Love the app, but a big problem.I love this app and think its by far my favorite UI. HOWEVER, it will randomly skip podcast episodes I have not listened too. Sometimes it will play the first split second of an episode and then skip it, and I can go find it and download it again, but sometimes I just never hear an episode and then I go look for it, its marked played but I have not heard it yet. I am now worried i'm missing episodes entirely. This is a big problem for a podcast app, once its fixed then back to 5 stars because its really a great app but this is an awful and problematic bug. Also looking forward to Apple Watch support..Version: 2.5.4

Hard to navigate, flawedI want to like this app and give it a reason to use over the vast amount of other podcast players available, but it gets one of the most basic things wrong. There seems to be a flaw with the app saving your place on a cast. I have had most of my podcasts skip backwards a good ten minutes when I pause them and come back later. The second thing wrong for me is the interface. It is beautifully minimal, but unfortunately sooo minimal I frankly don't understand where to go. Very frustrating..Version: 1.2

Coffee purchase not registered?I like the app. I believe I bought the coffee purchase like two months ago but it keeps asking me to buy again when I try to change the app icon. Also may I ask what the cafeteria purchase is?.Version: 2.1.3

Good Concept, Poor ExecutionThis app, at first, looks great and has a good amount of customizable features. However, this app would crash often and it's usability becomes more of an unenjoyable task than an intuitive experience. It's hard for me to recommend this app in its current state. For now, it's just a good demonstration of what could be a great app later on. I'm currently using Pocket Casts as my daily driver for podcasts..Version: 2.4.2

It will not pick up where I left offThis app is amazing and I love listening to podcasts on it. Intuitive, features packed and beautiful. However, for some reason it will not pick up where I left off when I leave the app for more than one hour. If I’m playing an episode and I’m at 18:45 playtime, when I open the app later the same video is at 8:14. I don’t know if this is a bug or only happening to me but it’s killing my experience. Going to have to go back to pocketcasts and revisit the app once it’s updated..Version: 1.2

Beautiful app... poor user experienceThis app is beautiful! So beautiful that I instantly purchased it from the App Store because of how good it looks. The design, however, really only runs surface-deep, and opens the way for numerous UX issues. The app itself relies heavily on gestures and iconography, which by themselves are fine, but cause way-finding issues when the entire app-experience centers around them. The icons are heavily stylized, and even the “checkboxes” in the settings screen (if you can find it because of the confusing icon) make it hard to tell if the setting is enabled or not. There is also very little descriptive copy for most of the settings, so you don’t really know exactly what enabling/disabling a setting will do. Like I said though, this app really is easy on the eyes. If the developers address some of these usability issues, I’m sure this would replace my go-to podcast app, Pocket Casts..Version: 2.1.2

Confusing user interfaceThe app has an elegant but flawed user interface. Of particular concern is the bottom control bar. In none of the themes are the symbols able to be seen clearly. Maybe the dark theme is best in that it makes that bar gray, but then the top of the screen symbols disappear! What’s surprising is that it’s been like this for awhile. Hasn’t anyone complained about this before? Hasn’t the developer given the app design any further thought?.Version: 2.5.6

Form Before FunctionDisappointed in utility of this app given how pretty the screenshots are. Interface is unnecessarily different than iOS. Difficult to navigate and remember gestures. Icons are not clear in what they represent. And I can’t import my OPML from another app. Tried four times and it crashes app each time..Version: 2.5.2

Was my favorite podcast app, but...Unfortunately, it looks like playback has been broken for a while now. On my iPhone X at least, I'm unable to keep audio playing when the app is in the background or when the screen is off. Hope it's resolved soon, keep up the good work!.Version: 2.3

Playlists?I like playlists that put my 110 podcast subscriptions in categories. If there’s a way to make a playlist on this app, I haven’t figured it out. If you like playlists, then this app isn’t for you. It is pretty though. When the app gets updated to include multiple playlists I will update my review. Another feature request would be iCloud sync..Version: 1.1.1
