Agora 2 for Positive User Reviews

Very Beautiful & Well DesignedIt’s missing a few features, so I’m probably going to stick to Castro for now, but will still use this from time to time. Kudos to the developer for making what is probably the best looking podcast app by a long shot..Version: 2.1.3

Absolutely worth the priceBeautiful user interface, top notch user experience, and overall amazing service.Version: 2.4.3

A Learning Curve, but boy is it worthwhile...This app is so beautiful, it’s visual design will strike you as something which is frankly outdoing the design teams of massive companies. Once you understand the App’s panes and hierarchies, interface is super easy and fun to click through. The new design is even more beautiful. The whole interaction model is several layers deep, it can be as full featured as you want. The true black mode is a major battery saver for the new iPhones..Version: 2.0

Beautifully Designed Podcast PlayerI have tried a ton of podcast apps and this one most closely aligns with what’s important to me: aesthetically pleasing, customizable and clean interface, and feature-rich. Hopefully this app will get some more users and will continue to improve. Love it so far..Version: 2.4.2

Very promising appI quite like the app, kudos to the developer for not forcing analytics upon us ( I use Lockdown to check and uninstall any app that sends analytics without my consent. The previous reviewer is correct that the lack of full screen player is a disadvantage. Overall, very good so far..Version: 2.5.4

Purchased coffee but still can’t change iconJust wanna say how much I love this app, speaking overall! It’s been the platform by which I’ve discovered the universe of podcasts and the UI is the most aesthetically attractive and (once you learn the mechanics and gestures) the controls are straight-forward, intuitive, and unique. I keep Castro Plus as an alternative option, but as great as it is, I more often than not find myself using Agora. My only complaint is: I’ve bought coffee for the developer multiple times now, hoping I’d be able to change the app icon as promised, only to feel duped and almost silly for thinking it might finally work. $1 here and there isn’t the end of the world, but I would like to see the app / dev deliver on their word! That aside, keep up the good work!.Version: 2.3

What a lovely appI can understand how some people might find the UI unintuitive, but as a tech person who can easily pickup on UI queues and enjoys fun design paradigms, this app is ridiculously delightful to use. Great work..Version: 2.5.6

Well designed. Missing some featuresVery well designed app. I am a big fan of the colours and the subscription organization. My only wish would be to have a full sized playback screen. To see the full sized artwork and Easier scrubbing, rather than the miniature playback controller on the bottom..Version: 2.0.2

My favorite podcast appJust a few features from Apple podcasts that I would like. One is that I like how they put recently updated, listened, and subscribed podcasts at the top of the subscription list. And two is that they allow podcasts to be in a state where you are still subscribed but you do not get notified of new episodes and the podcast does not move to the top of the list when it has new releases (this is good for podcasts that I only listen to when all of my primary ones have run out of content). And one additional feature: could we get a toggle for volume boost in the quick settings menu above the playback controls? Or maybe let us change that setting on a per-podcast basis? I don’t like the audio of cinematic podcasts to be messed with, but there are plenty of talk podcasts where the creators still haven’t figured out how to make their voices as loud as professional podcasts..Version: 2.3

Pretty podcast player with some major usability concernsIconography isn't very clear to me. The lack of a tutorial or feature guide makes this app frustrating to learn the deeper features. Coming from pocket casts or the Apple podcast app it feels very jarring having these deep gesture based features that aren’t really explained very well, and sharp icons with little context as to their meaning. Overall good start. Excited to see improvements in the future..Version: 1.1.1

Fantastic app with an elegant designOnly need a few additions to be 5 star in my opinion: - Now Playing screen (I think the podcast artworks would shine with this minimal design) - Ability to change the timeframe for the skip forward/backward buttons - Per podcast settings to automatically send episodes to the bottom/top of the playlist - Support for Chapters - Better refreshing of podcast (episodes seem to show up a bit later than in other apps) Sidenote: The restore purchase feature doesn’t work (bought a "coffee" last week, features were unlocked but then I deleted/re-installed the app and now I’ve lost the new icons/themes and can’t restore the purchase).Version: 2.4.3

Great App with Feature RequestLove the app. Super fluid and unique interface after you go through the walkthroughs. There is great built in utility and customization at the same time. If there is anything I would like to see in a future update, it would be a simple fast forward/rewind set of buttons (5, 15, 30 second intervals) on the playlist screen. Even a gesture would do the trick! I would just love to see a quick fix for scrubbing through an episode without having to drag to a specific second-interval. Otherwise a fantastic experience!.Version: 1.3.2

Very good productWould actually have given it 5 stars if ironically it had not asked me to rate it every time I fired it up. Little annoying. UI is great. Search and bookmarking is remarkably easy. Very good product..Version: 2.1.1

Fantastic design, needs a bit moreWhat a great idea. One of the most beautiful apps I’ve ever used. It’s already so far along, even in its infancy. All I ask is for better download management- that is, downloaded indicators, download buttons, flexible cache sizes, etc. Right now, it’s impossible to know whether any episode is/isn’t downloaded, and with data limits, this is a deterrent. Thank you so much for this app!.Version: 1.1.1

Outstanding app, just one tiny flawOkay this app is insane. The UI is beautiful! Its really customizable and unique, rarely do I comment on a app’s interface but well done. The only reason Im giving 4 stars is because I feel like the app REALLY needs to have a full page for when you play the podcast itself... It could be simple, album cover, rewind, play, forward and the time your at. If the developer made a designated player panel this app would be perfect!.Version: 1.2

Design is amazing, missing CarPlayI’d been looking for a Podcasts replacement and stumbled upon this, finding the design so pleasing and simple. My only complaint is that CarPlay functionality seems to be missing despite it showing up in the change log some time ago and I wish there was an app for Watch.Version: 2.5.6

Beautifully madeThe design of Agora is nice reprieve of all the me-too podcast apps that tend to look alike. With that said there are few underlying issues that I found after using it for a couple of days. The settings are not quite intuitive and when I tap on "How Agora Works", the interface afterward is every bit as confusing. Another issue is when I Airplay a podcast onto external speakers. There's constant drop-outs that I don't get from another podcast app or when I'm playing Apple a Music. Also it would help if there's some kind of indicator telling me that I've downloaded an episode. I'm hoping all those underlying issues will be fixed/improved at some point but for now, it's a promising app that's beautifully designed..Version: 2.4.3

Beautiful, missing somethingBeautiful app, extremely well crafted. Missing the option to create smart playlists, like if I want to play only my news podcasts together from oldest to newest. To do so I think I would need to manually create a custom playlist each time, but these podcasts update every day and sometimes multiple times a day. Maybe I’m missing something. Missing a now playing screen that overtakes the playlist. Search isn’t clear how to filter, images too small in list view. I’m critical because I love it, does that make sense?.Version: 2.5.5

THE BEST PODCAST APPThat July for making an app that has great content AND is easy (and a pleasure) to use. Great value in the price rather then paying yearly for Castro or Overcast. I’ve been using this ALL THE TIME!!!! Thankyou 😘😘😘.Version: 2.3

WowBeautiful podcast app highly recommend.Version: 2.5.4

OutstandingI've listened to podcasts on a few different apps and services and this is the nicest player I've used! Clean interface!.Version: 1.1

Love it so farI was looking for a podcast app that was fairly basic but also looked good. This one is both of those. I love the swipe to play list then auto download feature.I’m hoping it doesn’t end up abandoned.Version: 2.5.6

The most beautiful app I’ve usedThere are so many lovely little touches and attentions to details. Love using the app, great design and has the features I need (sleep timer and faster playback). Searching is also easy. Great job.Version: 1.3.2

Really beautifulQuick review: really enjoy so many of the aesthetics. The different color themes are a great option and unlike some other reviews I find the controls very intuitive. I will agree that there are some things I would love to see such as the full screen player. Something about not having that just seems incomplete. And also to have the option of 15 seconds vs. 30 second skipping. Otherwise great podcast player..Version: 2.3

Pretty good podcast playerWhat do you get when you take the convenience of the queue from Castro, add in a compact interface that also allows you to easily plan what to listen to next, and strip away the bulky size? You get agora. It’s queue makes it perfect for things like road trips, and (in my case) gig deliveries,it’s interface is nice and simple, and at the low cost of free, plus the size of a whopping 6.1mb,it really wouldn’t hurt to try the thing out. Who knows,it might grow on you too :).Version: 2.5.6

Very beautiful app but miss some featuresLove the interface, but I really wish to have features like choosing to add episodes to the bottom or top of the playlist.Version: 1.1

Intuitive, minimalist, and beautiful. An intellectual approach to the podcast app game, Agora conditions you to use your mind to adapt to it’s array of powerful functions. Gesture control is the future of all handheld devices, and this app is ahead of the game. It’s a little odd at first to navigate, but after a few days of using it, I’m in love. SUGGESTIONS TO THE DEVELOPER: -a function to add pods to the playlist without needing to play them first would be awesome -an info pid on the top of the playlist that shows total playlist time (accumulative play time of all pods on the list) would be really cool. I like to set up my 9 hour work day beforehand so I can just hit play and forget it. -a full screen playback view that shows the podcast’s artwork would be fun, but isn’t a necessary addition -keep doing what you’re doing, this app is FIRE 😎.Version: 1.3.2

SlickWorks really well, love all the hidden gems and interactions. Also the way you can choose different colours is really nice 5 ⭐️.Version: 2.0.1

It no longer breaks subscriptionsBut new episodes I add to my playlist are now showing “4 minutes” left and when I start them I have to manually rewind. This isn’t too bad except sometimes it doesn’t want to rewind to the start and just jumps back into the middle of the podcast. Come on..Version: 2.1.2

Great Start!Loving the gorgeous animations and the flow of using the app! One improvement area would be the quality of the audio engine at faster speeds, especially 1.5x+ does not sound great. Really the only area that needs work!.Version: 1.1

Good app. Beautiful. But some bugs.I've been very impressed with usability of the app and how great it looks. But I've also seen some errors with incorrect podcasts of the same name being imported during export to the app. The other issue is incorrect podcasts from another subscription added under the name of another podcast. 4 stars until fixed..Version: 2.5.6

Great Start!I’ve been using the vanilla Apple Podcasts app with every iPhone I’ve ever bought and decided to buy this one cuz I wanted a new podcast app. First off all, this app is really pretty. The minimalistic style is a breath of fresh air from other paid podcasting apps. It’s missing some features and the UI needs some more cleaning up, but so far it’s the best two bucks I’ve spent on the AppStore..Version: 1.2

Better but still needs a few thingsI like the new interface. It's a lot easier to navigate but I miss the softer black theme and I still want a full screen podcast icon when I'm listening in-app..Version: 2.0.1

A fresh takeI’ve been a longtime Overcast user, but I’ve found their attempt at replicating Apple’s card UX to poorly executed at frustrating to navigate. Smart speed was cool, until I realized this has the same exact thing. Clean, intuitive, beautiful to look at. Goodbye overcast..Version: 1.1

Very efficient and well thought outUI is changing so much these days but this app does feel very easy and user centric, while cutting a lot of traditional ideas of navigation inside apps. It's efficient cause it removes some motion. Like if so far but can we have 15s forward/backward?.Version: 1.1

Update Fixed CrashesA very nice looking app that shows a lot of potential. The developer responded quickly to my crash issue, and while it’s not quite as refined as Castro (which is another single playlist player), it’s definitely worth checking out for anyone looking for a nice podcast player. The fact that multiple playlists are in the works is an added bonus I’m looking forward to seeing..Version: 1.2

Much clean design. Much potential.I love podcasts and i think this app can be functionaly great. It already looks great. We need the option to sort podcasts and episodes. The app crashes when i scroll down a podcast feed. The album art on display should be bigger. Navigation is confusing. This is great. I will rate 5 stars when the much needed functionality is added. Keep up the great work!.Version: 1.2

Beautiful! It’s beautiful and refreshing against all the other popular podcast apps. I wish the searching supported auto-complete though and while the minimal design is beautiful, I found some of the settings to not be as intuitive? Like whether I had actually turned the dynamic theme on or off... I feel like denoting this through red to green colours might make that clearer without compromising on the minimal design. Sometimes things also feel a bit slow with the fade transitions when navigating between the options in the menu bar, like going from settings to search.Version: 2.5.5

It’s a beautiful app and I persevere but difficult to useI love beautiful apps and this is one of them but it’s just too simple. The icon navigation is confusing - I often find it very hard to find things and figure my way around. It be absolutely amazing if some of those niggly bits were figured out..Version: 2.5.5

Good app. But question.I do really like this app. But one question I have for the developer is: what does “dynamic theme” mean? I thought maybe it meant that the theme of the app would change with the native iOS light/dark mode. However, when I switched my phone to dark mode, the app did nothing. So I’m confused what this setting does?.Version: 2.5.5

Amazing App!Thank you..Version: 2.5.5

Best Podcast Player YetI was on the hunt and tried four different podcast apps. I finally found one with (almost) everything I want. The only thing I would like to see is a CarPlay app and I certainly hope one is coming. Beyond that the app does everything I want very quickly. As my repitoire of Podcasts I like has grown I tend to only want to listen to certain episodes and not all of them. This allows me to do that easily with Playlist. I also like the smart speed setting to save time. I would also like to see a paid service with no ads like Stitcher Premium... Maybe someday. But ultimately this one was my favorite or all the ones I tried..Version: 2.4.3

Beautiful but 2 feature requestsThis is one of the most beautifully designed apps on the store. It takes a little bit to get used to all the shortcuts but it’s definitely worth it in my opinion. There are, however, three minor features missing that I think would make this app perfect. The first is something that I have been looking for in a podcast app for a while- autoplay from the most recent podcast with unlistened episodes when the queue (or playlist as it’s called in this app) is empty. This used to be on the native podcasts app but apple took it out for some reason. The second is a quick option to swipe right on an episode to add it to the playlist. I know you can swipe left and then tap the button, but that’s pretty slow- and it really adds up when you’re scrolling through your podcasts to build a queue to listen to. The last one is the ability to organize your grid of podcasts. By default, it’s done alphabetically, but I would like to drag my most listened to podcasts to the top. Overall though my experience with this app is amazing..Version: 1.3.2

Modern app that works on iOS 12Thanks for making a slick app that still works on older hardware and iOS!.Version: 2.5.6

Love the new approachI’m a podcast app snob, and I love how iOS focused podcast apps really are the cream of the crop when it comes to design. This so far is the best looking podcast app available. And it tries some unique new interaction concepts never done before. I will say, it takes a few swipes around the interface to remember what the icons do and, for instance, how to find your subscribed podcasts after searching the podcast directory. I was thinking it might work to use either different shades/colors or perhaps some translucency for the various layers that exist within the so you can always remember your place within the app at a glance. Overall wonderful minimalist design, great typography and use of space..Version: 1.3.2
