✓ Display P3 color does not display properlyThe app doesn’t really display P3 color properly, the red and green does not change at all when I switch between sRGB and P3 in preview. I only use this app because procreate lacks some crucial features that this app have, otherwise this app is a no for me, especially with subscription, while still doesn’t have GPU acceleration for the canvas..Version: 2.2.0
✓ Inferior to the PC version and to its competitorsThere really isn’t any good non “money-grubbing” reason for why my license (that I have from my pc ver.) won’t work on the iPad ver. The UI is still cluttered, they really should take notes from Affinity Designer with their mobile version. It doesn’t mean a “simple mode” where you take AWAY features, just make it less cluttered. And Procreate is about to turn the indie animation scene upside down with their Dreams app (one flat purchase btw), rendering the animation feature here quaint. You can make great comics here, but there really isn’t a good reason to justify the monthly price when the desktop version can be bought single purchase..Version: 2.2.3

✓ TERRIBLEOk so this app is bad when you make the canvas small (I can’t explain it properly) it glitches you only have like four terrible brushes it’s hard to work I do NOT recommend this sorry to be mean about this app but still one tip is to fix your game try to add more brushes a NON glitchy canvas and make it easer to work personally I don’t recommend to beginners but for people who can work with hard drawing apps plus I would recommend Procreate it’s better and easer to more with and you can costumize your own brushes instead of four crappy brushes so ye I don’t like this app you might like it but I don’t 😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅😅.Version: 1.9.11
✓ Just some feedbackI want to get to start using this regularly but it is extremely complicated because sometimes it won’t let me draw and there are to many buttons that I don’t know how to do anything other than draw erase use the bucket and make text bubbles but also I can’t change my brush tips or how much the eraser erases so the hole point of this is to make it simpler.Version: 1.10.0

✓ Why pay monthly?I personally hate procreate, and heard clip studio is more similar to paint tool sai so I tried it out. After all its only like $50 or whatever on PC and I didn’t mind the price point so why not try it. I was extremely disappointed to find out you pay monthly instead of a one time purchase like the PC version. ✓ Lost a lot of progress because the app refreshes and auto closes at the worst timesI love drawing here, and I use my iPad, but I’ve lost so much work because I attempt to save my file, only to get an error message. I go to clear some space to allow me to save my file, only to find that when I tab back to the Clip Studio app, it has closed itself and all my work is gone. So my attempt to make space to save my data winds up being yet another waste of time. Thankfully I save often, but it feels like three steps forward and one step back. It’s obnoxious and infuriating and I keep losing valuable work time because it gets deleted into the void. Oh, and the auto save is not accessible later on either. I go to try and find the auto save in hopes of recovering my work, but there isn’t even a location to find the auto save files, so if the program doesn’t feel like opening your auto save when it refreshes itself and closes without your consent, you can’t get your auto save back either. If you get an error message on the iPad that your file could not be saved, you might as well kiss your work goodbye..Version: 2.1.2
✓ Good software, dumb subGood: It’s a very good drawing software, and it makes it very convenient to draw on the go. Now that I don’t have the disconnect between a screen and my dinky little drawing tablet and can just draw directly on the ipad, my lineart comes out much more naturally. Bad: It can be a bit buggy at times; I’ve had it abruptly restart out of the blue while using it, meaning I lose anything I was working on if I haven’t saved recently. Luckily this doesn’t happen TOO much. I also think the subscription thing is a joke. I own CSP on my PC and still use it there (certain editing things are just easier to me on that version, plus it was a buy once and it’s yours type of normal deal). Being forced to sub just to own it on my ipad is aggravating. Just let me buy it and own it, good grief..Version: 2.2.0
✓ Subscription only, shameThis app unfortunately suffers from what I dislike about the iPad system, too much of it is subscription based. If I could buy it outright like I can the desktop version I would. However this combined with a few other apps just makes it all unaffordable. Shame. Great program, but too costly. ✓ No different than makers of PSI had this for a while, loved the 3d model aspect, but the company is just as trash as photoshop now. First of all, i never had this on PC because i dont have a PC to use it on, so I was only on ipad, and when i found out PC has a one time pay licensing I stopped sub and boycotted this app. I even went as far so use two apps that totaled out to a one time payment of around $25 to do just about all the same things as this one does for 99$ a year. I hate the idea of subscription and honestly its not even that i “feel” cheated, those of us who use ipad ARE cheated. Not planning to support this company unless they go back to what they were like before. Even more of a joke is that they will avidly ignore any response that mentions their change from one time payments to subscription. This is only worth the money for people who are big-name artists that can afford it, dont play games if youre just a hobbyist, theres plenty of other apps that can give you what you need without you being pressured into spending a lot of money. If i could get a one time licensing for the 3d model aspect by itself, id take it, but this company is just as greedy as PSD, they’d have gotten more people using them readily if theyd have just kept all the different license tiers and avoided the subscription wall. ✓ It’s okay, but limited.I would love to use this app more… But the membership..? I wouldn’t mind buying it at a higher price if it was a one time purchase, but the fact it has a not so friendly membership is what makes me perfectly content on deleting it. The UI is clunky and confusing on all but the biggest screens, so I would only use it for minor touch-ups rather than as my main drawing program like I used to. ✓ Alright, but complex..Now the app is good, but it is just too complex. You have a so many things to click on and k just can’t tell what to do at all. Things like IbisPaint (X or not) make it simple to where there isn’t so many buttons to do random stuff and it is organised instead. It also makes it easy cause well, it isn’t complex in general unlike this. I will say that, if this app maybe had an update or a whole redesign to make if more simple or less complex then it is, maybe I’d give it a try. For now, I’ll stick with IbisPaint. ✓ CONSTANT Crashing and sending my data to their serverCONSTANT CRASHING!!! On a newer ipad pro!! While doing almost nothing! Ever since this newest version there’s been TONS of random crashing. Times where I’m not even doing anything except scrolling the screen…turning down the memory % just makes the app unusable…the update just makes the app too heavy for ipads… Also forced updates all the time without warning! If you move off a app for a second, or your screen turns off for a sec, the app will just close and update. It doesn’t care if you saved or not. Ever since the update I’m CONSTANTLY getting a pop message saying “ transferring data”. What data I don’t even know.. and it’s suspicious that there’s no setting to turn that off. Either way , It prevents you from drawing and stays up for way longer than it should. ✓ Down with Subscription 👎👎👎Clip Studio Paint is my go-to program on desktop with some of the best tools and settings I’ve ever used. So what a slap in the face that they don’t have the same options to buy a license for iPad. I would switch in an instant if I could use any of the multiple ones I’ve already paid for. This app doesn’t write any information to the internal storage. All your work is stored in memory. The same memory that all your other apps use. Make sure you click save before swapping out even for a minute. The disappointing feeling could be avoided by using a cache stored on internal storage instead of using memory..Version: 1.10.10
✓ Please make it a one time purchaseThe app is really good. For a transfer from computer to iPad, its almost miraculous. Nevertheless, I cannot truly see how this can measure up to procreate for the vast majority of people, especially with its subscription based price tag. I’m not saying that they should suddenly price this at $14 (same as procreate) because its functions, community and overall UI are just so much more extensive and pliable, but what I am saying is that to make it an expensive subscription automatically alienates those who already have a one-time purchase elsewhere (macOS, Windows etc.), and its ability to compete against procreate, essentially leaving only a small pool of people that it appeals to. Please make it a one-time-purchase, or, at the very least, drastically decrease the price tag. ✓ Provide a perpetual licenceClip studio has amazing functionality as both an ipad app and as a desktop app, but it does not possess equal footing in terms of payment. Frankly I (and I know others as well) have been perfectly willing to pay large single payments for *good* apps in the past - especially on ipad since they are so hard to find - so I don’t see why we cannot be afforded the same payment system as on desktop. As it currently stands the *free* version doesn’t even allow you to copy and/or paste, and for someone who studied and looks for work with the digital arts I would love to recommend this app on ipad but i just can’t. I know that Apple pushes for subscriptions because people are less willing to pay for apps outright as opposed to desktop computer programs, but other apps on here have been perfectly able to provide a subscription option as well as a perpetual licence option (Callipeg for example). With my experience of the desktop suite, this program is worth more than 5 stars, but until I can buy and use this software outright it only deserves a 1 star rating..Version: 1.11.8
✓ Loved it initially but then you changed itI’ve been so so happy with this for a whole year now, I used it for desktop before getting an iPad and the transition was seamless (other than a few file sharing hiccups) This new update though... you made it hard to access my files and the new look... OUCH! ✓ Why are iPad users being punished?Don't get me wrong. I love Clip Studio. Been using it for years on desktop, it's wonderful. But recently I bought this iPad to draw on the go, and lo and behold, I am hit with a MONTHLY paywall, while everywhere else it's a ONE TIME PURCHASE. ✓ DRM gone crazyHate that it constantly thinks I am trying to steal it. I pay for it monthly and I still have to verify its license when it’s been offline for a few days. ✓ Great app....butThis is an amazing app that makes drawing and animating manga style art super easy. its got a host of features and it produces amazing results. the only issue i have with it is the same issue i have with so many apps on the app store..... ✓ No longer compatible with the desktop one time purchase versionI have the one time purchase version 2.0 on the desktop. I use that and I use this subscription version on iPad. I use both to record Timelapse videos. However, with the 2.1 update. The Timelapse does not work with both versions, between 2.0.6. and 2.1. ✓ Keeps restartingI absolutely love CSP, and use it professionally on both my desktop and iPad. When I started using it on iPad, I didn’t have any issues with it, but recently the app keeps restarting when I minimize it to (for example) look up a reference on the internet. Constantly. This kills the workflow, and also makes me lose little bits of work if I don’t remember to save my files every time I minimize. Just lost 4+ hours of work I was trying to finish for a person who is on their deathbed because this program crashed. It stalls and crashes. 4) Has a stupid subscription pricing model. 5) File management is a mess. ✓ ConfusingIt’s quite confusing, if I’m being honest. The way the tools are lined up and the fact that none of them are labeled and they’re all in their own different places, like having the pen and pencil separate from one another is quite strange to me ( as in you could have a pencil brush with the pen). I don’t want to watch a million tutorials as soon as I get into an app. Not only that but not being able to save your work without subscribing is quite annoying, and you can barely access anything when you don’t have a subscription. It would be much easier if you just had to pay for the app itself instead of a subscription. ✓ Add a save feature to save usersInitially this app was very good for drawing (although this was the first drawing app I ever tried) and I was getting the hang of it - however, as I had not paid for it (as I have no money so I was using the free version) I was unable to save my work which is disappointing. But then I decided I could just continue to work while keeping the app open so it won’t delete and then screenshotting when I was done; then as I was really getting into it it suddenly crashed and deleted EVERYTHING I had done which is extremely annoying!! The main problem comes from its frequent crashes and inability to stay open when switching to another tab, which makes finding references difficult because you have to save, leave, come back and open your file again. ✓ Buggy pro appSo far the app has very nice brushes and features (although the features are often over-complicated and user-unfriendly like Illustrator) but it is seriously buggy in places and as such is not worth the subscription fee - so happy it has a free trial period! Maybe the bugs will be ironed out before the fee kicks in .. fingers crossed. For instance: when renaming files, file names are then mixed up and given to random other files .. no kidding! This is followed by the rename option then not working at all. This is an app killer, especially as the file system is too basic to be useful without some kind of external archive. However: the vector inking brushes are very nice and the lines are editable and make this worth persevering with for the time being..Version: 1.7.3
✓ Needs no timeline frame limitI tried to put 210 frames for my animation timeline but always you say “exceeds limit” and put 24 frames. THAT’S LESS THAN 1 SECOND FOR A SAGO MINI MOVIE BECAUSE NORMAL FRAMES PER SECOND FOR SAGO MINI MOVIES ARE 42 FRAMES PER SECOND. If you make the maximum number of frames for a timeline infinity then I will rate this app 5 stars..Version: 2.3.4

✓ Crashing RandomlyReally disappointed that as of a few updates ago, CLIP keeps crashing randomly. I've spent too much money on this app to keep losing my work and time, even with auto-save enabled, it really disrupts my flow. I will change my review once this issue is resolved. ✓ This app deserves 5 stars other than a serious flaw...This app is without question the best art app on the iPad, an almost identical port of the desktop version... but... it does have one serious flaw, which in fact makes for two. It’s File sharing system is unacceptable. It has no way to transfer work files back and forth via cloud services. At present you have to connect to iTunes if you wish to transfer the clip paint comic files to the app, though you can transfer the files off of the app via iCloud. For an app they want you to eventually pay £7 a month for this is unacceptable. If this flaw is fixed in the next 6 months I will, reluctantly, pay the £7 a month... although I also feel this is a rather steep price to pay having already bought the desktop version. While this is, without question, the best professional level art app on the iPad (procreate is a joke comparatively, although MediBang comes close) at £7, a single months subscription is almost the same price as any other apps one off purchase. ✓ The worst sign in/up experienceI’ve never had to spend so much time to sign up for a company’s app before. It took at least 20 photo identification of objects followed by a slow sign up with my email. Then, the three month is only when you agree to a paid plan. It took forever to sign up for a 30 day full use. Everything you do has to go back to their server which takes a long time… very antiquated. I have high speed WiFi. Horrible app look for 2023. Every click to anything required pulls you to a dialogue window to connect to their server..Version: 2.2.0
✓ Clunky and irritatingIt has some good features and nice brushes. But the so do all of the alternatives. I particularly dislike having to wait for an online connection transfer data to validate my license when I launch it . I dislike the menu layouts and the crowded scree space that have hundreds of irrelevant features on display al the time. Changing the brush size it slow, inaccurate and crap. ✓ Disappointed long time CSP customerBackstory: I’m a full time artist who uses CSP on the pc/Mac and I have been using the program for a few years now. You can imagine my excitement When CSP announced their new app. I have been using Procreate up until now. I bought my iPad last year, the storage is 1/4 full. I was forced to update my iPad cause I know Apple’s company functions heavily due to planned obsolescence and cycling out their products with all the updates. Issue #1: The payment, paying that much monthly makes me uncomfortable. It would be much better to just make one bulk payment. Issue #2: Is the fact that it takes 4 minutes for the app to open, I am stuck at the opening screen waiting and I’m afraid of closing it down because of this. Issue #3: When I finally get the app open it either crashes or I can’t touch any of the buttons or anything. I once was able to rotate the page but it was very jittery. I would suggest that until CSP fixes these issues please avoid updating your tablet. Get Procreate instead which is run by a small company of people who really seem to care about the customer, it’s a one time purchase as well. I hope this gets fixed ASAP but either way the disappointment lingers..Version: 1.6.9

While it was continuing, I gradually liked it so I went to the App Store and started installing. When it was done, I was so excited my heart was about to burst open!!(Well not really.) ✓ I want to like clip studio, but they make it impossibleThe ‘studio’ interface is terrible for a tablet, so I was excited at the addition of ‘simple mode’. The interface is great, major improvement for working on the ipad. However, this mode is lacking in major functionality for no reason. Your brushes are not automatically available when you switch, you have to manually add them back. You can not select multiple layers at the same time. It’s baffling how you could leave out a simple function like that. I will stick with procreate I guess, it is at least fully featured with a good UI..Version: 2.1.0

✓ It deleted everythingOk, first, when I wanted to get a license so I could save my drawings, it was extremely tedious and when I FINALLY got the account, it didn’t even let me use it. Then when I gave up on trying to use the license that I had spent so much time on to get, I tried to make another drawing. I spent hours on my drawing and I made sure to not close out of app. I had a five minute break and when I tried to finish my drawing, it closed out of the app and deleted EVERYTHING. ✓ One time payment on PC but not mobile?I feel like this is some hypocritical/unfair situation. ✓ Confusing, expensive and frustrationUsing this app is confusing. Trying to create an animation or a comic is super difficult and it takes a while before I could understand how to navigate the app. After a while of using the app and getting used to it, the app will now suddenly free and lag when using 3d models or while playing an animation; It has become frustrating and slow, audio doesn’t even work on this app either.
