Sculptura 3D for Negative User Reviews

The app didn’t even download, I want a refund. When I downloaded this app I was pretty excited to use it, and opened it right away. But when I tried to open it, it just brought me to my tablet’s files app. It told me there were no files found, and I would like my money back if I’m not going to actually get the app..Version: 1.5.8

To limited , looks cheap and nastyI was hoping when I bought this app it would feel a little bit more like sculpting , for the price the tool range is extremely limited , brushing along the surface to “carve “ or “build up “ an area is horrendously jittery not at all a smooth transition/blend . Overall way overpriced for the quality and limitations it has , it looks cheap and nasty , not worth a 1 star rating , I was looking forward to using this app because it was recommended, now I can say I have no faith in other people’s recommendations anymore.Version: 1.4.3

Way too laggy on iPad Pro 1st genSo far, this app just doesn’t work smoothly on my iPad Pro 1st gen. That would only leave the current iPad Pro as a useable model for this app. The lag is almost always present and at times makes the app unusable. The app is also too slim on tools and is missing major things like a move tool. While the app looks nice and has great materials to work with, the app just isn’t ready or worth the $20 asking price..Version: 1.0.4

Incredibly Disappointing for PriceThe lack of tools, slow undo and tool responsiveness as well as the fact that UVs are missing from exported models do not make it worth its price.Version: 1.5.7

Unfinished? Very buggyI am very disappointed. I purchased this app expecting a finished product. Instead I wasted hours and even purchased a new iPad partially in hopes that it would work. I contacted the developer, and while they were very nice and seemed genuinely interested in resolving the issues, I still get a magenta screen of death every time I try to switch tools. I do not recommend this app. Perhaps it will be usable when the bugs are resolved..Version: 1.6.2

Export issuesRefuses to export, I’ll choose format save to files and it just sits there never changing. No other apps open, tried restarting iPad nothing. Not even just exporting the base male bust provided. Obj stl or the usd none of them will work. Tried opening stl in another app (Shapr3D) instead of saving and it says it can’t because the file is damaged.Version: 1.5.8

WasteI was excited to use this app, but it crashes upon launch. Sometimes I can use it for a bit but then it crashes after about five minutes, which deletes all your progress. It may work for others, but until I find an actual solution I’d say don’t risk it. I wasted ten dollars for a useless app..Version: 1.5.2

Missing UVsI got this to export to Procreate, but it isn't accepted, saying 'Can't import, missing UVs. Help!.Version: 1.5.7

Great until it crashes - poor customer supportA good app for the iPad but unfortunately since the app has crashed it is now unusable. I have tried contacting the support team through the forum found here but I have not had a reply. A waste of money if the app cannot be fixed..Version: 1.5.1

Complete Waste of MoneyI initially believed it was working so badly as my IPad Pro is now 5 years old. I asked Apple for a refund then installed Nomad Sulpt, which though a little more expensive, is amazing, and bares no comparison to this which is glitchy and very amateur..Version: 1.6.5

Great startThe app has a potential, especially with the Move toll coming soon. Without texturing, posing and ability to export transparent background PNGs, it's only a toy. However, it's a big toy: app and data take almost 8.5 GB of memory. I either had to remove everything else or the app itself. I removed the app. There must be a way to remove its data (templates, etc.) without removing the app (which is not so huge)..Version: 1.0.6

A feature that would be very helpfulWould be to be able to save parts as components so we can make multiple parts of a sculpture for printing. The ability to click and drag unconnected parts. Just opens up a whole lot more options for 3d printing Also there’s no way to actually size what your making in any real way... when I exported the thing it came up as 1mtr long and the file size was massive! It’s fun but it’s ultimately a toy more then a useful program.Version: 1.3

Not as good as it seemedThought this might be simple of enough to use. Too simple really not much for tools and no way to learn how to use it. Trial and error interface! No tutorials whatsoever just some speed paints. Sorry I WASTED 10 bucks. Should have gone with nomad. Now I have to cough up $15 more instead of just $5 if I kept on scrolling..Version: 1.6

Can’t import its own exported .obj filesRound trip of an .obj failed. Trying to import any other .obj or .stl files also failed. These were small models of low complexity. The only feedback is a wiggle. I just wasted $15 on a broken app. If you can import your own exported files then why bother to claim that you can. .obj support was the only reason I bought this app. Using IPad Pro 1st Gen..Version: 1.4.3

Does not work on iOS 13!Tried on iOS 13 beta 3, but has error when opening files. Needs fix..Version: 1.3

Good for beginnersThe iPad app is a little clunky and not intuitive. I cannot seem to rotate my model. Also I just prefer other sculpting programs. Personally it wasn’t a good for for me but someone else may get better use..Version: 1.5.8

Real great Just needs more updatesI bought this about a year ago, and the updates have come slow with few feature or performance improvments.Version: 1.4.4

TerribleI’ve messed with this program for well over 2 hours now and don’t understand it at all. And having no video tutorials makes it difficult to learn as well for those who can’t just read something and have it click like that. Would really like to get my money back as I really don’t think I’ll ever open this program again..Version: 1.5.7

CrashesOh man... I got so far in my sculpt. But then I lost every IG in the open file while working. The whole thing just vanished. Every other function was working. Would even allow saves, even though my whole sculpt was gone... this is great over all... but I really hope you can fix that. I’m scared to use it now..Version: 1.4.1

Very disappointedQuite disappointed with this application, can’t seem to find an edit tool, or an undo tool, can’t even find help..Version: 1.5.8

Cool to do base meshesStill misses a lot of tools to get to a final sculpt fast. Also it doesn’t uses the space smartly on ipad pro... but you can do base meshes on the go and finish it later in another software..Version: 1.2.3

Incredibly laggyApp is incredibly laggy, crashes very often. Sometimes when I try and undo things, is undos more than i want it to also. The app itself is pretty good for sculpting and 3d modeling, but the lag and crashing makes it almost unuseable..Version: 1.5.10

Bad gameReally bad, I bought this game for 15$ but it is really glitchy and hard to use, it might be good for people who want to scalp for hours but I don’t. Non of the tools work very well and I think it is not a good app!.Version: 1.4.4

Hated itI used and it’s realy hard work to use! I don’t recommend getting it! 👎👎😡😡.Version: 1.3

Can you make version similar to 123D sculpt?I try use this app but it not good like I the old app you to have. So can you bring back that old app or make a newer version of that that? If you can bring that app back or make a similar app that will make me happy..Version: 1.4.1

Not what I expected,, at all :/That video that’s there as an example...isn’t really true, the app is really buggy,, and moving it is rly rly slow,, makes it rly stressful. When turning around my iPad, it looks squished? Like the sculpture becomes squished?? Rly annoying, It doesn’t work fast at all, as I said, like when I’m softening stuff in the sculpture it kinda lags, a lot. When I move it to a different angle it kinda glitches AND lags sometimes... They also don’t have a wider variety of textures wich is kinda odd since it should be “better” than the Sculptura pocket? I didn’t think I would say this but I think that Sculptura POCKET is more better?? It just works faster, a lot faster actually... I’m honestly kinda disappointed since I really like sculpting apps and sculpting in general, I feel like the $10 is just,,???.Version: 1.5

Can’t export .objI am a long time 3D modeller - using a range of apps, including Maya, Lightwave, C4D and ZBrush and this app shows promise, but I feel is a long way from where it could be.... AND I cannot export my model as an .obj.Version: 1.2.3

LaggyLags, slow, not worth the money ..Version: 1.5.8

3D Artist, re-reviewing.I am re-reviewing this software after 6 months. I am a 3D artist that has been familiar with Maya since 2014, and has used it extensively for around 3 years. I have used Zbrush for a while since initially reviewing this product, as well as other sculpting apps & programs. The product is very easy to use and easy to learn. You can grasp the nature of the tools (literal tools, not mesh) almost immediately after trying them out. The mesh has a fair amount of subdivisions. The move/grab tool can make use of this, and isn’t too limiting. When using this tool, it begins to convert the mesh.. Please elaborate what’s happening here, and perhaps create a toggle for the UI container that displays different numbers. As there is no UI (from what I can see), it’s hard to tell where I’m at with my polycount or what I am actually working with. Overall, this product in it’s current state seems to be aimed at the casual ‘on-the-go’ hobbyist, that may, or may not pursue 3D sculpting in the future. The app offers intuitive and a very easy-to-use camera with toolbar navigation. This is your main selling point, the app is extremely easy to pick up as someones first step into the 3D world. In this app, you can see how sculpting works at the fundamental basics. Nothing technical for industry standards by any means. The closest thing to this app is Sculptris, which I believe is free on the PC. If you have a PC and are not sure about spending the money for this to see what 3D sculpting is about, I suggest you try that out first. You can see this as a mobile alternative to that. I cannot review an app like this extensively without bringing up similar products as a comparison. Forger is a rival app on the app store that you may have seen, that is more UI heavy and aimed at (in my opinion) a more experienced user. It wants to show the user what’s happening, what you can control, whereas Sculptura wants the user to not feel overwhelmed, and to get straight into modelling. It’s the difference between someone just wanting to do something casually, for fun, and one that may need to use the model when exporting and using in games or animations. If you’re new to 3D sculpting, Sculptura is very user friendly and you can start modelling right away. But if you’ve access to a PC there may be free alternatives with very similar qualities. If you’re an experienced user in 3D sculpting, well I’m sure you’re just as informed about the competitors as I am. Unfortunately, I myself can only say I jumped for joy a little too early when I saw a new 3D sculpting app. 2.5 stars, brilliant for trying out what it’s like to sculpt in a digital world for the first time, especially on a mobile device! Nothing truly negative about the experience. It’s the bread and butter of the industry..Version: 1.3

I was so excitedI was really excited to try out this program. I read a lot of positive reviews and decided to make the purchase. Unfortunately, the app crashes after a single stroke. I’m hoping this is something that can be resolved in the future. But until then, I won’t be able to use it. From what I was able to see, it seems easy enough to navigate. It’s not too crowded or overwhelming..Version: 1.5

Clunky, not for serious workI’m a professional miniatures sculptor used to working with real clay, I bought this to have a go a digital sculpting. I’m pretty disappointed, I find the movements clunky and not precise enough. I also don’t find the controls at all intuitive. You only have to look at the demo pictures which show this apps capability to see this is not for professional use..Version: 1.4.4

Slow performance on gen3 ipadsI have the 3rd gen (2018) iPad Pro, and it struggles to keep up with this app. Must just be too old, but I wish there was a mode that allowed for low-poly rendering like difference in Evee and Cycles in Blender, so if I don’t need high-res rendering while sculpting, I could get more responsive sculpting/realness. App is pretty amazing though all in all!.Version: 1.5.8

TerribleI downloaded this app after reading a positive review in an online article. My iPad is relatively new and still I can’t get this app to work as it constantly freezes and crashes. Very disappointing.Version: 1.5.13

No Documentation…ANYWHEREWhile the software seems responsive, for a complete noob it’s pretty useless without at least a little guidance. I have searched the Internet multiple times and asked on their Discord (without any response) about tutorials. NO tutorials apparently exist, just some fast videos showing people making things but not explaining the tools or how they are doing what they are doing. At least Nomad has a bunch of tutorials all over the internet..Version: 1.6.3

Constantly crashingHas potential but crashes way too often. Have applied for a refund. This is why apps need trials.Version: 1.5.2

Needs a grab toolSculpting is mostly about moving and deforming your model, and this app does not have very good tools to do just that (which makes sculpting feel limited and awkward)..Version: 1.0.6

Deleted my workWhen I was working on a sculpt and had to hit undo, the whole thing disappeared. I hit undo again and it was back. So I kept going on and tried undoing again and it disappeared. I made it reappear again and then exit to duplicate the sculpt I worked on Incase it disappeared forever, and when I clicked on either one it was plant. Why? Very fun and easy to use this app but why won’t it save anything?.Version: 1.4.3

Very novel first attemptHowever, for being so limited I feel the price the developer is asking is simply not worth the value of the app...had I known it would be so slowly to work in I would have just stuck with Zbrush for everything. It works well for what it is, but please don’t expect to make any real final work in this app it’s way to buggy and clunky to work in for that. I will update my review as the developer works on the app, but for now I’m simply not able to give it anything more than a two, mostly the price is what bothers me...shouldn’t cost anything to essentially beta test an app..Version: 1.1.1

Very Limited for a premium priced appI am a zBrush user and was looking for something portable for sculpting quick ideas. I find this app super limited in its tools and has almost zero tool customisation options apart from size and strength. It feels clunky to use at this point. Hoping for future improvements..Version: 1.1.1

Constantly crashes.so frustratingSo gutted as this app was incredible initially then it began crashing constantly.i only have one model file as well .really hope the developers can fix this ASAP as it wasn’t cheap. And I really want to use it.Will resubmit a decent review when it’s been fixed..Version: 1.4

Kind of annoyingKind of annoying- can’t import 3D objects properly, some buttons don’t work or aren’t there.Version: 1.5.4

Not really useableOn iPad 8th gen - When you set the ‘use Apple Pencil only’ it limits your ability to use it. You are trapped in only zooming in & out and can’t access any functions other than the size/depth controls. You need to reboot. Without using the pencil only setting you are always making strokes on the model by accident and the undo wipes all your current work away..Grrrr. It would work better if the rotate model feature was called up with a two finger press to make it different than using a tool stroke. Nice App but needs more work on user interface. Sometimes hard to select a tool or the menu. Some limitations on importing models, although good when it works, exporting also has limits on size. Not really useable on iPad for the price, needs a demo version!.Version: 1.5.2

TerribleUsed it for 5 minutes, half of that time used to wait for lagging to stop.Version: 1.5.8

Amazing app but it has a major problem...It’s very easy to use and I love it. I’ve already got used to the app but sometimes the app crashes and it removes a part of my sculpting process or can’t access it anymore..Version: 1.4.4

Keeps freezingEverytime I get halfway through sculpting something the app closes and will not let me open them again to finish..Version: 1.3

Losing progress, not worth $10 at allI have had the app for only two days and have already lost two projects. The projects either become pixelated and force me to restart, or turn completely invisible and again, force me to restart. I am extremely disappointed with the performance of an application on the more expensive end of iPad apps, and if I could get a refund I would snatch it up in a second..Version: 1.4.1

Not for meThe app is really bulky, and in the sense of all the tools and how the app runs and unfortunately I’m regretting purchasing the app now, and would like a refund if possible. These sort of apps should come with a trial, so people know what they are buying..Version: 1.3

Not compatibleThis worked great on my last iPad but eventually my projects got to big and I needed a more advanced device. Bought an iPad Pro but this app can’t seem to run it properly. So it’s kind of useless now. To bad..Version: 1.5.13

Had hope for this app...But barely anything works. I can’t turn the model, I can’t use any of other tools at all other then adding/drawing, and even that is a hassle. Nothing is working and am incredibly disappointed. Was hoping for something to help with my 3D work and was met with an app that won’t work..Version: 1.5

Crash and buggyKeeps crashing and screen keeps snapping larger. Not really designed for iPad 6. The Apple Pencil response is ok but sometimes nothing happens after adjusting size. Wish I could have tried it before I bought it. Was considering another app but this one saves in more formats which was appealing. Upset over that decision now..Version: 1.5.1

No instructionsThere are no instructions on how to use the app, which is very frustrating, and I can’t share my work because obj isn’t supported by my iPad Pro..Version: 1.1.1
