Shade for Positive User Reviews

Very useful tool but...We really need the added option/feature to export a basic PBR materials folder (without having to right-click for “Show Package Contents”). Not only would this help current users but it would also make the app very appealing to potential users as well. Update: The developer was very quick to accommodate the above request with an update. This app is an INCREDIBLY useful tool and I would definitely recommend you download it now..Version: 1.2.5

Add a experimental ray tracing optionThe title lol and options for the well option.Version: 1.2.8

Excellent!Having used their other app, Codea, for years, I have no doubt in the professional quality that they deliver and the immediate feedback and support for their website forum. Thank you for this excellent addition to my toolset!.Version: 1.0.1

Unbelievably goodAfter playing with this app for a while, it’s absolutely floored me. I never thought there would be a shader authoring experience this great on iOS, that both looks and feels native but also has just enough pro functionality to fit nicely into my 3D workflow. The ability to export to Unity and SceneKit materials are the killer feature for me, but the user experience in general is so intuitive, fun and rich that I’m starting to prefer using Shade to hand-authoring. Huge respect to the developers for taking on such a Herculean task and pulling it off so flawlessly. If I had a few more feature requests it would be exporting directly to Metal and/or Blender, but with the new export plugins and the already great GL/HLSL functionality, porting those shaders over manually isn’t too taxing. P.S. If that’s not good enough, unlike ever other remotely pro-usable app out there it doesn’t even require a monthly subscription. I appreciate the devs even more for not going full Adobe on us..Version: 1.2.8

Nothing better on the goLoved this during the beta and purchased when I could.Version: 1.0.2

This is coolI’ve never seen this stuff work on a iPad before and it’s so high quality.Version: 1.3.1

StunningAfter looking for so long for any app that might fit into a 3D game development workflow and being disappointed recently by apps like uMake, seeing this just land in my lap as an app suggestion took me off-guard, even moreso by the sheer quality and polish this has. Most node editor interfaces are average at best and ones like Substance Designer you pay a lot for are tragically bad, but this one looks so elegant and readable. The fact all inputs and output values are clearly listed, the smart swizzling and addition functions, the subtle node movements and bounces and the helpful node pages feel like this app has a higher version count than it does, and it beats out all node editors i've used anywhere save for perhaps Blender. Performance is great, the help pages for each node are extremely useful and a lot of great shader examples are provided to help you learn the ropes. A few things like the lack of multi-select, the long hold-tap gesture time and a few other things id like to see tweaks or options for but this is minor stuff. If there’s one complaint i have so far, it’s that the export options are pretty lacking. Unity is a great feature to have but if you don’t use Unity then it’s hard to find a workflow with this app that gets you the shaders into other apps like Godot or Unreal Engine 4. While I don’t expect a bespoke editor for every game engine due to the immense overhead required, something simple like a “Blueprint” export where it exports the nodemap in a very readable PNG with every important variable and option listed for each node alongside a rotating video preview seems like an easy way to give you the benefit of archival and preview functionality, and would allow this to better fit into a workflow as most of the math will be replicatable in any shader engine. Given the low reviews i assume this didn’t sell well and might not see the support it deserves which is a real tragedy as iOS is made much richer by apps like this. Thanks at the very least for giving this a shot and making something so impressive..Version: 1.0.2

Just insanely goodSketching out shaders on the go seemed like a dream, insane that it’s now this easy!.Version: 1.3

Overall, it’s a good app, but where is light node?I can’t find any node that describes lighting information like lighting direction or light position. Please help.Version: 1.2.7

Unbelievably greatHats off to the design team and programmers. It’s one the best best apps I’ve ever used. Nodes would have been hard to do perfect on iPad but this is perfect on many levels. Between this and nomad sculpt it’s truely a great time to be on iPad for artists..Version: 1.2.7

Blown away! It’s nice to finally see such a great app for mobile devices. Its so well optimized for the iPad and it allows me to create visuals on the go. Hope they keep adding more functionalities like reacting to camera or touch inputs and allow for more export options. Looking forward to see where this goes! Please keep it up!.Version: 1.0.2

A great app for prototyping and learningI’ve used this to refresh and relearn the fundamentals of shaders, and to prototype some quick shaders to use in Unity MVPs. This is a great app for anyone looking to work with shaders..Version: 1.2.1
