Rosetta Stone: Fluency Builder for Negative User Reviews

Web version is much betterI’m using an iPhone 11 Pro. I think if I were using a Max phone, or iPad, I might feel differently. But as far as the phone app goes, it’s lacking. I end up using Duolingo more often, which is a waste of the money I spent on Rosetta Stone, but only because my phone is often more convenient when I’m able to practice. Some of the less than stellar details: - the pictures are difficult to see. I could not figure out how to zoom in on the photos to know what is being washed, the gender of a person, etc. - when using headphones, the audio is SUPER loud and I’m unable to use the side buttons to turn it down. It’s one constant volume. I like to listen to instrumental music while I study and I like using headphones so I don’t disturb my partner’s focus, but I can’t do that with this app. I don’t have this problem on the web version. - this one is less of a problem with the app itself and more of a comparison: it’s not as gamified as Duolingo, which makes it less addicting. I so desperately want to get to Duo’s diamond league and compete with my friends and earn gems and XP to unlock fun things and earn achievements! Rosetta has done so, so, so much to keep current with the times, especially ditching CDs for digital downloads (RIP CD days of yore), but this gamification has always been lacking. I keep at it only because I know I won’t become fluent with Duo alone. I do feel like I make more progress with Rosetta... when I find the motivation to put Duo aside to use the web version..Version: 2.2.0

Inappropriate for 12There are issues with saving the progress and the app is definitely not appropriate for 12 year-olds. My son was assigned to work with the app by a school teacher and found words like “Bordeaux” and “champagne”. Can’t really see any use for a kid to know alcohol names and types..Version: 1.1.3

App freezes whenever I try to load a lessonThe app freeze whenever I load a lesson, so I can’t really use it?.Version: 3.1.0

ANo vale su webada maricones.Version: 3.12.0

BuggyThe app says I’ve skipped lessons when I know for a fact I’ve done them twice! It is very buggy and throws you right into the language without any explanations. It is not user friendly and frankly costs way too much money to be so archaic. I’ll stick to Mango once this license expires..Version: 1.3.0

.... :(Some of the syntax on here is just so out of it, it throws me off. The way that this program is set up is just wrong. Regardless of what my level of spanish is, I find it tedious to understand the assignments. The vocabulary learning is minimal; I feel thrown into the wolves. I have to use my spanish dictionary and resources outside of the program to understand what is asked of me. I just feel bad for the beginners using this app..Version: 1.3.0

Progress does not sync correctly with appI consistently face issues with progress not syncing correctly between the mobile app and the online version. The mobile app will show something as complete while the web app shows it’s still outstanding, and vice versa. I have reported the issue to IT multiple times (among several other issues I continue to notice with the program) and they have not resolved anything..Version: 1.1.3

Not tested enoughArranging does not work well, many activities unusable on app.Version: 2.1.0

Can not see the questions in multi choice sectionsWhich made me switch back to web version..Version: 1.5.0

Quite badI’m using this app on my iPad and it’s been pretty bad. Way too many bugs, the was the microphone works is an absolute mess (and no, it’s not my device nor headphones). If I accidentally click on a lesson, it will count as if I have completed it without actually having done so. Then, it will tell me I have un completed lessons but not tell me which lessons specifically.. I’m using this app for a school class and it counts as a grade. This app is making it very difficult for me to keep a good one..Version: 1.2.1

Question, please help!I have a question... I got this app and tried to sign up by submitting my email and password to the front page but it says error occurred and it didn’t work... I tried with my other email accounts but nothing worked. Am I doing something wrong? Please help!.Version: 1.1.1

Ipad version is badThe Ipad version is very bad. Many bugs, I can’t do my lessons, either the voice recorder is not working well or the don’t show the texts, etc.Version: 3.16.0

Why corporate only? It’s both unfair and unnecessary to make this accessible only to corporate users. Personal users pay a significant sum of money for Rosetta Stone, and we should have access to all the materials..Version: 1.2.1

App keeps crashingThe app during course moments kept on crashing and freezing during the exercise making me less motivated to study. Fix bugs!.Version: 3.13.1

Not helpfulI had through my job and I wanted to learn French. I did the placement test. Seriously? I score 240 and was placed in B1. I am first beginner, I don’t know any french except greetings. Test gave me wrong result as it was multiple choices and unfortunately may be I hit right one so score was that much otherwise I am 0 level french. After my feedback and request they changed me to A1 but the content and course, everything else remain same except level B1 to A1. I cannot get any level A1 courses. Really bad option. I don’t see any option to contact for assistance either in my mobile app. I rather use google translate or some other..Version: 1.1.3

Does not have an iPad AppI study from my iPad but they have only an iPhone App?. Waste of time.Version: 3.14.0

GlitchyIPhone version seems glitchy, sometimes buttons are missing, vocabulary definitions are missing, one exercise seemed stuck in a loop and would not end..Version: 3.8.0

Surprising number of bugs- I can only get audio to work when I’m using external headphones. - Some lessons/activities are difficult or impossible to mark complete. For example, an activity that is just watching a video will not be marked as complete if you watch the video full screen. - Icons like the next arrow are surprisingly difficult to tap (the hit box is in a weird place) - Activities that ask me to repeat what I hear don’t work correctly. Instead of playing the audio first, the microphone immediately activates. I can cancel it, play the audio manually and then hit record, but it’s very time consuming. - The app can feel very unresponsive, like long delays between hitting a button and seeing or hearing the effect. This list isn’t exhaustive but I got tired of writing out specific issues. The actual language content I’m learning is great, but clearly this app is used for many different languages so it doesn’t make sense to rate it based on the learning content. For a company as big as Rosetta Stone I’m surprised by how bad this app is and how painful it is to use it. I really hope you dedicate some time to making some user experience improvements. I’m using an iPhone X..Version: 3.13.1

Bugs galoreTerrible app made by terrible people.Version: 1.3.0

TerribleI have had to redo activities multiple times because the app did not register it as completed, even though I was sure to stop at the end of a lesson. Sometimes, it will just freeze, and I will have to, once again, start over from the beginning of the lesson because it did not register my progress. I don’t find the teaching methods beneficial at all..Version: 2.2.0

No soundI love the app, but very often the sound does not play. Also, it requires log in every time..Version: 3.16.0

No iPad version of the appWhile the other Rosetta Stone app has an iPad version, this one does not, which is both surprising and disappointing..Version: 1.5.0

BadWorks very bad, can’t finish lessons because buttons with sounds just or disappears or doesn’t show at all sometimes, very disappointing..Version: 1.4.1

Update modern screensHi, can you please update to include native support for iPad? It’s really 1990 when you see iPhone screens on an iPad. Looking at your history you’ve been fixing bugs and improving stability for quite a while now. When is optimization coming up next?.Version: 3.12.0

I can’t hear the lessonsI downloaded this excited to start learning and there is no audio. Seriously? I paid good money for this course and I can’t even hear it?.Version: 3.16.0

SO GLITCHYI echo what others have said. The app is so buggy. Not all of the activities can be completed on a touchscreen and yet you have to do those activities with every lesson. The worst are the “follow the example” ones (where no example is provided) and the ones that require you to tap words that are located too close together so when you tap one, it highlights the wrong word every time. I downloaded the app because I was running into bugs with the web version as well. Thankfully the microphone on my phone is better than the microphone on my laptop, but it’s really frustrating to have to go back and forth to finish each lesson. I also believe I was placed in too high a level because there is no way to look up words you don’t know, nor do they explain why you’re answers are wrong. I have to rely on online dictionaries to even understand what is being asked of me. Between the language barrier and the buggy format of the lessons, I would not recommend this app to anyone. Rosetta Stone has been in the game for so long. It’s crazy they allow this app to be so crappy..Version: 3.16.0

GlitchyFor all the money spent by individuals and organizations, you’d think they’d spend abit more on an app that actually works. Mine is perpetually frozen, will never download activities and is just overall glitchy even after rebooting, redownloading etc.Version: 3.8.0

QuestionWhat is This for? I wasn’t able to do anything it wanted me to login as if I already had an account. I want something to practice my Spanish..Version: 2.2.0

Doesn’t even workThis app is a joke. It doesn’t even load my courses. It just hangs indefinitely. Really bad product..Version: 3.7.0

No support for AirPodsThe app does not support AirPods making it quite useless in most situations..Version: 1.1.3

Still some underlying bugsRecent update fixed a few annoying bugs. After finishing a pronunciation section, you can get 100% but it will mark it as skipped. It’s not app breaking, but as someone who wants to complete all my lessons at 100%, this stops me from doing so..Version: 3.13.1

No iPad supportWhy???.Version: 1.5.0

Horrible on ipadInteractivity in some activities is horrible: e.g. putting words in correct order to make a sentence - the words won’t stay where placed or cause the other previously placed words to jumble out of order; can’t tap on required/highlighted words to place them in categories and therefore can’t complete the exercise so I can move on to next step (ridiculous) The language assessment pre-test crashed and generated error messages 5 times in less than 3 minutes, Very, very disappointed!!!! This app sucks!.Version: 1.5.0

Possible Alternative AppsI have a feeling even “Corporate learners” would choose to use other language learning apps to work on their language skills probably because they’re cheaper or sometimes free. A customer’s personal enjoyment is based on their comfort level with the App of their choosing..Version: 3.4.0
