Koder Code Editor for Negative User Reviews

Needs work!File time stamps are changed even when there are no changes! Simply opening a file will update time stamp. Cannot discern if a file was updated or simply opened for viewing! Not very useful, especially when you’ve gone to the trouble of actually displaying the file time stamp! Also, if you opened a file on iCloud, and then close the app. The next time you open app, it has no idea how to restore previous view/open file, displaying continuous busy icon. Restart does not solve state! Only way is to delete iCould files, presumably so the “program” can determine file is no longer available and “starts normally”. While I’m at it…. Ability to create folders in Local files, and generally mange files, would be nice too!.Version: 4.2.2

Keeps crashing, lost months of effort.I’m an old user, and have been using the platform since 2019. Today, it decided to crash on me. I entered back in and crashed again. And again. And again. All of my hard work, gone. Please fix this issue. (other than that, good app.).Version: 4.1.1

It looks great but…I have no clue to even do anything so I looked at the online manual and it doesn’t teach me anything so be happy with you one star.Version: 4.2.2

Could only open some file typesI could not open all text file extensions..Version: 4.1.1

No way to edit the SFTP connectionAs you are filling in the fields (in order) for a connection it wipes out the previous fields you already filled in, in the UI, so you have to back track after changing the port number, to fix the previous fields that get wiped out. This gets annoying after adding a few connections..Version: 4.0.4

Bad appJs files are now by default opened in koder. Five star reviews are FAKE..Version: 4.2.2

Pretty good but some annoying bugsThe app is pretty good and serves its purpose for basic SFTP editing but there are annoying bugs that has me looking for an alternative. 1) if you switch to another app while in the editor, about 50% of the time it resets to the root directory. 2) if you search for a folder it and tap to select it, it never works. It selects some other random folder..Version: 4.2.1

All progress lost if display turns offI was editing a text document from OneDrive. I had to use the bathroom, and so after a few minutes the iPad screen turned off, as it normally does. Koder not only lost all the editing I had done but had totally unloaded the file as well: when I turned my device back on, the app wasn’t in the foreground, so I launched it and my file wasn’t even open. Absolute trash app if you lose all progress just because the display turns off..Version: 4.2.2

My files were deletedOn the 23 June 3hours of work were deleted under my app For me to get this app back I need for u too Send a developer response.Version: 4.2.2

No view source? So far this seems great, but I am having an issue: I cannot access the view source/firebug built in function. Is there something I’m missing? When I go into the browser preview and click the “<>” button, it only shows a string search option. I am not able to console log or debug and it is stopping me from enjoying this app any further. If anyone has any suggestions or a way to fix this, I would greatly appreciate it..Version: 3.8.2

Freezes on iOSKeeps freezing when I open.Version: 4.1.1

Always clearing my filesGood app apart from the fact that my files get deleted randomly, causing a lot of time wastage..Version: 4.2.1

SetupCan’t figure out how to make custom tags so that I can type faster and setup my development faster. I am wanting to do html, css and JavaScript projects..Version: 4.2.2

No support no useCan’t connect to my home folder via SFTP, stupid app adds forward slash to the path in front of the correct path. have requested support via twitter but no replies of any kind. so will wait a couple mote days then it’s deleted, no support is no use to anyone!.Version: 4.2.2

What the….?So far looks great. But forced line wrap? WTH. I HATE word wrapping…. Give the option to disable and it might actually be a useful program..Version: 4.2.1

Poor UI due to key features minimizing automaticallyThe top bar with options (settings, find/replace, etc) disappears when you type and won't return unless you minimize the app. Another bar pops over the bottom with undo/redo and some quick typing shortcuts like comment blocks, but it blocks the controls to add or search files on the file tree. App would be significantly better if the UI stayed consistent--all the controls should be visible regardless of whether or not you're typing, and the popover shortcuts should be shifted/bump up existing controls when active so that they don't block things. (Thankfully the second thing can be disabled with the "extra keyboard" toggle but tbh I think it should be disabled by default if an external keyboard is present as none of it is faster than just typing it).Version: 4.2.2

Cannot open custom extensionsSo this app is useless. Does not support pCloud..Version: 4.1.1

Uploading is a painIf you are using the magic keyboard you can’t upload until you remove the iPad from the dock because the app gets stuck in typing mode and the upload option which looks like a share option is not available until you leave typing mode by taking the iPad off the keyboard..Version: 4.2.1

Only opens 1 file at a timeNot bad but becomes useless after a while because you spend your time opening project files 1 at a time..Version: 4.2.1

Not possible to store file where I want and the app crashes when I moved themThe app is decent at best, and I needed to have my files in iCloud Storage (and I dont want to do a copy). So I manually moved my files expecting to be able to edit them from there. Now when I open the app, it is stuck trying to open the file most likely from its former location..Version: 4.2.2

Not stable, no split screen, deletes your work. Not Notepad++ but of the apps that come up when those search terms are used this one is the most familiar and pleasing to the eye as far as text editors go. I cannot have multiple views open to view side by side, as in split screen. Add that function and you’ve got a five star app. Update: Was working on multiple documents and went from one tab to the next, went back to the original document and everything was gone. Zero stars for that and multiple weird crashes. This app needs a lot of work..Version: 4.2.2

Nonstop crashingTrying to establish SSH connection, crashes every time after command execution. Useless!.Version: 4.2.2

Useless app is not actually a text editorUseless for many programming languages such as Typescript because only recognized file types will open. Not really a text editor. Fine app if you aren’t really a programmer but useless otherwise..Version: 3.8.1

GarbageIt cant even run code pls guys go on this website replit.com its very VERY VERYY mobile friendly.Version: 4.2.2

Crashes. UnreliableCan’t view ssh terminal in real time. It waits until the command is finished before showing the results. And it blocks in the meantime, so you can’t do anything else. WebDAV didn’t show anything but connected. Crashed when I tried to create a new folder..Version: 4.0.1

EWWWWWW😶🤑👋🙇‍♀️😚⭐️☠️😀😚👺😚👺🤬🤡😶🙇‍♀️🤑🤡.Version: 4.2.2

Looks promising, but some bugsCrashes when attempting to create a file on a WebDAV server. At be a permissions issue. Would also be nice to have an easier workflow to upload images; rather having to add them locally; select the image and then upload. Instead, if one could simply upload whilst browsing the destination, that would be ideal..Version: 4.2.2

Used for a while - files lost / corrupted a lot of my training projectsI would give this app high praise. I’ve used it regularly, but after a css file literally vanished after previewing the html doc, I became weary. I did some much needed admin on the local drive and file/categorise, to find that a. most of my css files were empty, missing or corrupted with another file’s contents. HTML files as css files, and vice versa. A lot of work has disappeared or must be recovered and reworked to get back. A tonne of hours lost, or a shed load. I had emailed the support email on the site about 2 weeks ago and i’ve received nothing back. It’s got considerably worse now. I’ve reinstalled, but I’m making a Shortcut to back up every file once a night now, which is not ideal for file space. I shouldn’t have to over fear of losing work I need for training. It’s nice to use otherwise and I haven’t liked many others..Version: 4.2.2

Not WorkingFuckig Apps.Version: 3.8.2

Frustrating user experienceI tried this editor for about 15 minutes but it’s barely usable. The small font size is still way too big and I can’t find a way to disable line wrapping so the editor is a mess. It also defaults to using tabs to indent and I can’t find a way to switch to spaces. Also, I tapped a button that looks like an eye by mistake and the whole app froze up. It’s nice that it has remote editing over ssh but it won’t let me save the file because of a permissions error. Also the save button looks like a share button which was confusing for a minute because I couldn’t find the save button. Overall not a great user experience..Version: 4.2.2

1 star for visibilityThe app is actually great, but I’m making it one star so that the developers may hopefully read the issue I’m writing about: On iPad (in my case, iPad Pro 11” 2020), the UI has a bug. If the left-hand panel is hidden so that you have to tap the “Files” button in the top left corner, tapping it will crash the app. The window opens to show the “Files” panel, and then it just crashes. Happens in split-view or even in full screen. This isn’t an issue for me when I’m using in full screen because I never hide the panel, but it IS an issue if I want to work in split-screen. I hope this can be fixed..Version: 4.1.1

Good app, just buggy! On the face of it, this is a great app that allows you to code in a variety of languages and connect to both ftp and Dropbox. The problem is that on iPad, the top navigation bar kept disappearing and it the app constantly froze whenever I tried to copy local files to my ftp..Version: 4.2.2

Crashes on openI was loving it. I started using the FTP feature - awesome - then it started crashing on open. Instantly threw me back to home screen of latest IPAD Pro. So annoying. I deleted and reinstalled it and it’s back to working again..Version: 4.1.1

Crashing all timeCrashing all time.Version: 4.2.2

Awkward to use with a BT keyboardEvery time I click on the Ipad screen is tried to also open the keyboard and doesn’t show, but means half the screen is just grey so I get no benefit of having a BT keyboard for more screen real estate..Version: 4.2.2

Good but one problemIt was doing all best and recommend app but it has a problem. I had practiced for HTML, CSS and JavaScript. When I opened the file later then it shows loading and there is none of my projects. I happens sometimes only but I had to do it all again. So, please fix this problem..Version: 4.1.1

Can’t connect using ftpI just love apps that do ‘exactly what they say on the tin’. This one doesn’t.Version: 4.2.2

HTML h1 tag Koder logoI try to do a simple html file and the first thing I do is do an h1 tag. Looking in browser there’s some dumb styling that has the Koder logo beside every h1 tag….. why???.Version: 4.2.2

Endless crashesIt literally crashes every time I switch back to it from another app. Useless..Version: 3.8.2

No make new file button? You install the app then have to pass files via other services? Not from the Files app? Is there no make folder/make new file button in here? Looks like an App I want to use but can’t seem to get started!.Version: 3.8.2

SMB would be niceGot this to edit some yaml on a home assistant and a bunch of other scripts I keep on my Nas. No option to use smb to open the files. Now I’m going to have to install an sftp server or find another editor..Version: 4.2.1

Would be 4 stars, except for the crashingUsing a Mar 2020 iPad Pro with the keyboard, Using an active FTP connection. Unfortunately the app appears to crash semi frequently. It appears to be related to me switching to a different app while having an FTP connection open, and then switching back to the app. This is really unfortunate and has cost me some code/work. If the crashing is fixed this goes up to 4 stars. To get the last star, it would be great to see better customization support for the editor..Version: 4.1.1

Great editorOverall, it's a pretty solid code editor. The one thing I would love to see added - the ability to see spaces and tabs. Also, the ability to replace spaces with tabs... currently it doesn't see it as a valid replacement..Version: 4.2.2

Live it but...Will they fix older iOS version from crashing ? I hope so :).Version: 4.0.4

Mostly UselessNothing works correctly. Tab indents by an amount not a multiple of the fixed font width! It's quite some gymnastics to open a file from files. Sadly, it's the same pathetic state with just about any other free code editors on iPadOS as well as one paid one I've tried. They are all such bags of blunder that make me hesitate to try the most recommended (and expensive) one which is textastic. The bar is awfully! I'd say stick to your laptop for code editing!.Version: 4.2.2

BuggyI can’t delete files. When I share files into the app from somewhere like email, it asks where to save it, but offers no controls to go back to the parent folder, nor to confirm the destination..Version: 4.0.4

GitHub support would be brillPretty decent application, only downside is a lack of access to any git platforms.Version: 4.1.1

Good but not perfectKoder has a horrible bug which will delete the entire contents of a file. Unless I’ve made a manual copy on my iPad, there doesn’t seem to be any way of recovering the file contents. It seems to happen when you switch between files in Koder. I only use Koder for creating HTML and associated files. It has many good features. Where I feel it falls down is: - I can’t zoom in on my iPad. Selecting text can be difficult. - Koder automatically saves the new version of the file you’ve edited, but doesn’t save different versions. It’s incredibly easy with an iPad to accidentally delete a whole section of code. If you’ve done that and checked to see what it would look like in a browser, without creating a back up first, then you’re up the creek. - sometimes Koder seems to select the whole file and it’s very difficult to cancel this selection. - doing a find on a string which includes some non-alphanumeric characters seems impossible (off hand I can’t remember which characters). - you can’t automatically format your HTML -it would be nice to be able to minify my HTML and save to a separate file..Version: 4.2.2

I'm giving this app a 2 star review even though......it potentially is worthy of 4 maybe 5 stars as the app rhat it is, but there is one glaring hole in its otherwise functionality packed feature stack! Problem-o: YOUR APP WAS BEING USED BY A ROGUE BUG IN MY PHONE THAT SAVED A MALICIOUS JAVASCRIPT BACKUP FILE OF MY 'Drafts' APP AND UPLOADED IT TO A SERVER!!!!!! Not entirely your fault, in fact less than half your fault guys, but you SERIOUSLY need a firewall or some sort of other security measure to prevent things like this from happening. I've deleted the file from my device but so far I cannot tell whether it is still linking through to the server where it came from... the server won't load for me. If you guys added a firewall or at the very least, detailed logging files of your app activity as a menu function, I would buy it for a second time. Yes, I paid for the paid version, and if you use it I highly recommend you do the same as it's an EXCELLENT app except for it helped ruin my life :(.Version: 4.2.1

Good editor but Constantly crashesUsing a file connected to Dropbox on iPad Pro 12.9 Tried making it a local file and still crashes. The crash happens when you switch between apps by dragging your finger from the bottom of the screen and hold, I then selected the email app to copy from. Using the same way to return to the editor causes it to crash everytime..Version: 3.8.2

Great but it randomly cleared a fileI opened a new file to start one of my projects and was met with one of my files being completely empty..Version: 4.2.2

Decent app, significant limitations, no large file supportI like Koder for quick fixes on the sites I maintain, as well as building/modifying shell scripts, router configs, etc. It works well for those quick fixes and mods and scripts, but that’s it - Unfortunately, it does not support significant modifications, or even “select all”, on files over 15,000 lines. The app just crashes, even on a brand new iPad Pro. I will keep it though because it is great for quick fixes..Version: 4.2.2

Have to fight to see the tool barHave to fight to see the tool bar. Please fix..Version: 4.2.1

Files shared to Koder can’t be openedSomething is wrong with the ability to send text files to Koder from the iOS share page. It starts the wizard, asks you to select a destination for the file, but no destinations are available or tappable. This is a major bug and hoping it gets fixed..Version: 4.2.2

Very LimitedCan’t see that this editor is positioned as a powerful programmer’s editor. Grabbed it when it was free it but was disappointed. For example, it shows its age in that cloud support is ostensibly limited to Dropbox and iCloud. I happen to be a developer with a number of box.com and github accounts where my source code is stored. I do use Dropbox and iCloud as well but for any serious stuff I uses github like most other professional coders. I think that maybe a few years ago this was considered a serious programmer’s editor but it hasn’t kept up with the technology for it to be taken seriously these days..Version: 4.0.1

Sort files neededNice clean app. Need to be able to sort files in file list by date. Bug tap in blank file area and app exits. Nice clean app. Looking forward to using as Dropbox text file editor.Version: 4.0

No instructions?Has a Dropbox button, but nothing I do can actually connect it to my Dropbox. No instructions. It might be good, but there’s no way to open a file, so no way to tell....Version: 3.8.2
