Juno – Python and Jupyter for Positive User Reviews

Amazing appAmazing. Exactly what I was looking for. Definitely worth the price.Version: 1.2.8

Bangarang.Bangarang..Version: 2.1.7

Wow!This totally does what it says on the box! You can edit Jupyter notebooks and run them locally on the iPad. The editor interface is still a bit basic, but please buy this app to support the developer. The price is totally appropriate and iPad users have been waiting a long time for this, a first I believe for notebooks..Version: 1.1.0

Newly returned to coding; great platformRecent return to coding after decades off. Played with a couple IDE’s on desktop. This is an excellent platform to code on my iPad. The portability is exceptionally convenient. I’ve been exchanging programs from Juno and VS, without problem. So far, well worth the price ... and I’ve only just started..Version: 1.2.8

Page AdvancementI recently started using a bluetooth keyboard with my iPad 11 pro, an I noticed that when I try to type the page advanced to the top of the screen. Which makes it difficult to type as I’m not able to see what I type. Can this be fixed..Version: 1.3.14

Work likes Jupyter Notebook; makes it easy to use Python on the iPadI am a Bioinformatician and I use Jupyter Notebook and Python as part of my workflow. Every now and then I like to take a break from using my computer, and simply use my iPad Pro to write Python scripts. I really like this app as it suits this purpose. Juno works like Jupyter Notebook, with the markdown style, python console, and even the functional keys of “B”, “A”, “M”, when adding a new line below, above, and markdown that makes Jupyter Notebook easy to use. I haven’t had any issues with delays, crashes, or bugs. It works great, and to take things a step further, I would really like to see R included as a language for this app. There is definitely a need for it..Version: 1.3.7

5 starsThis is amazing app!.Version: 1.1.1

Recent Update Wiped out my ability to use the appThe recent update to 1.2.8 has completely destroyed the utility of this app. Not only did it wipe out all my notebooks and time-consuming painstaking installation of MANY pure python pypi packages for my notebooks, but upon uninstall/reinstall it doesn’t create its base set of files and thus I can’t even begin again. New notebooks cannot be created or executed. Will revise upon developer resolution of this massive issue. Before this it was an awesome tool..Version: 1.2.8

Wow I am finally learning Python! This thing is absolutely amazing. I’m very much a beginner/amateur, never used Jupyter, and know just enough python to frustrate myself with the potential and possibility. Having this on an iPad, and so functionally well contained, it has been a pure delight for a simpleton such as myself. My python learning is finally starting to stick. I’m addicted! (This isn’t to say you can’t do powerful advanced things, I just wouldn’t know, lol).Version: 1.3.14

FantasticThis app truly makes it a joy to do data science on my iPad, as it has fantastic extension support, the notebook environment is fast and responsive (in some cases even runs better than my outdated desktop computer) and handles whatever I throw at it flawlessly! Looking forward to them adding support for TensorFlow soon..Version: 1.2.5

JUNOExcellent app to do data analysis via portable Jupyter notebook on your iPhone. Great access to libraries such as pandas, numpy, seaborn etc. Only hitch so far is if you have to leave app temporarily (eg to retrieve information, lookup code etc) you can’t get back into JUNO without restarting iPhone. If that could be fixed it would be a 5!.Version: 1.2.8

Good Job👍.Version: 1.4.2

Very good app!I use this app as a note taking software, I'm not a programming student, but I use markdown formatting! This software is probably the best I've ever bought!.Version: 2.1.7

The most useful iOS tool for pythonAn invaluable tool to allow the portability of learning, practicing, and implementation of python. Thank you.Version: 2.0.12

Very coolGreat product.Version: 1.3.14

Keeps getting betterA really solid Jupyter implementation..Version: 1.2.8

Great App, But Refreshing issueThis app really increases iPad productivity and power. Nothing really says a powerful tablet like being able to write scripts on it, and this app enables the tablet to be just that. Just tag on a keyboard and you’re basically using a laptop. It has a great layout and is extremely intuitive and well built. HOWEVER, whenever I want to switch between other apps for referencing (which is often), I find that I have to wait for Juno to “boot up” again. The app boots up really fast, so this issue is really more of an annoyance than an inconvenience. Aside from that small issue, it is 5/5!.Version: 1.1.1

AmazingWorks super well.Version: 2.1.7

GOOD but still need to work on itMy workflow is highly dependent on Notebooks and I use Juno when my PC is occupied. The experience using Juno is good in general, but I found the “sjoin”function in Geopandas doesn’t work as it requires “rtree” or “Pygeos”. Could you please help me with this? Thanks..Version: 1.3.14

Stable and perfect for iOSPandas, Matplotlib and bumpy functionality are really well implemented, great functionality and easy to use. Does a good job even with Apple’s sandboxing.Version: 1.1.1

The joy of doing Data Science on iPadThe Juno apps are by far the most helpful tools in my Data Science workflow. Since I pretty much work by myself and like the flexibility to just start prototyping an idea without having to switch back and forth between devices (and needing to carry many of them), Juno comes in very handy. I am just waiting for Scikit-learn to make it to Juno until then switching back and forth between Juno and Connect is anyway no problem. Integration with git using Working copy works like a charm (and highly recommended). Surprisingly iPad is able to handle computations very well and I haven’t struggled with the app or iPad (7th gen) resource constraints. I see this app as a very good model for device convergence, doing such a marvellous job at putting beautiful iPad touch interface to use for service like Jupyter. Kudos !!.Version: 1.2.3

Pandas SupportOverall, the app works well however it only supports pandas 1.0.3 even though current version is 1.5.3.Version: 2.0.12

Data Science on your iPad!Fantastic to be able to start out developing data science apps and analyses from my iPad. For those that outgrow my iPad, then I can transition them to a server (local or cloud) and keep right on working from my iPad using Juno Connect. Finally able to work almost exclusively from my iPad!.Version: 1.1.0

Support for scipy? This app is amazing! I use it to make writeups for my physics labs. One thing it’s missing though is scipy support. It would be really great if a future update made it possible to add scipy as a package..Version: 1.1.0

How do I get a refund?I was thinking of using this app to do an NLP project, but many of the packages I needed included C files in them, so I coudln't install. Than I need the Juno Connect to do the job and I'd like to have refund of Juno. How do I take procedure to this?.Version: 1.2.5

Can’t open csv files from iPad :( works for everything else thoughWorks pretty well :) Just can’t open csv from iCloud files :(.Version: 1.1.1

IncredibleThe ability to use Jupyter on my iPad Pro is something i have wanted for a while. This app makes it possible and is very well made. I dont need to carry my heavy laptop around anymore when I need to code on the go..Version: 1.3.14

Great appHow can I use tensorflow (PyTorch) using Juno?.Version: 1.3.14

Great, but not for astrophysicsThe app seems really good, and I’ve made some progress with it, but have now found that it can’t support Astropy, which for me is sine qua non. Others may get more from it, though there might be other missing libraries I’m not aware of..Version: 1.5.4

Great App w/ Some Frustrating BugsFundamentally, I think this app is well worth your money, as it captures the jupyter notebook experience really well. If you are worried about it being a half baked app, its not. However, it is buggy. Crashes not infrequently, and perhaps the most frustrating will bug out and scroll to the current cell output, not code, every time you press a key. This means your code is offscreen and your are coding blind. The only thing that fixes this is a full restart, but then you need to run through your whole workflow again. Additionally, you cannot change font size and with the aggressive scaling on iPadOS means you can’t fit much code onto your screen. Overall I would say it justifies its price over and above say, Carnets. Just needs some more QAQC.Version: 1.5.2

Working great so farI bought this after having issues opening Excel files in another app with Jupyter Notebook support. Everything has been seamless so far. The autocomplete has also been quite nice, including suggesting column name strings. I haven’t been able to get the ‘connect to Google Drive’ to work. That is annoying as iCloud is not a decent alternative for sharing files across platforms..Version: 1.2.8

Fantastic. An iPad native jupyter notebook that runs offlineQuite an impressive application. If you’re using Jupyter notebooks, it makes your iPad a lovely environment to work with them in. Everything happens on device, so you’re not connecting to a remote server that may or may not need updating, tweaking, and faffing with. It consumes notebooks from any document storage provides on the iPad, so if a third party applications exposes storage to Files, you can work with them. The Working Copy git client provides this functionality, so you can have an iPad-based Jupyter Notebook server with git tracking working seamlessly side by side. My only criticism is that it often seems to need to restart the running notebook when switching between applications, but this hasn’t happened so much when you have those applications running side-by-side. I suspect this is more a matter of iPad memory management than an issue with this application. I would recommend this as a first-class Jupyter Notebook solution - probably the best way of using them on the iPad. I’m still quite astounded this exists at all, let alone how good and well integrated it is into iPad OS..Version: 1.2.8

Jupyter Notebook for iOSIt’s like jupyter notebook for your iOS devices. It’s terrific!.Version: 1.3.9

On the right trackHaving access to Jupyter notebooks from an IpadPro is a fantastic productivity advance. I think the developer is on the right track and the app feels great!. Keep those updates coming...please!.Version: 1.1.1

Makes all the difference on the iPadI love using this. I really do. I can’t do the heavy lifting with large files on it but 90% of the light stuff I can on my iPad at the office with great joy. Thank you guys!.Version: 1.3.14

IPad IS a computerProbably the best $20 I’ve spent in the app store. Now I can work outside without a laptop..Version: 1.3.14

Great app for on the go, can’t replace JupyterYou've done an amazing job with what your working with (restrictions of iOS) and I’ll keep using it for looking at things on the go. Some great features: - the UI is adapted well for iPad without being too different from Jupyter A++. This is why I’m able to use it on iPad. - decent number of packages (of course this work is endless) Some things to improve: - text size adjustment (not iOS based) - allow case agnostic intelligence as an option - the CWD behaviour is very weird and has caused some errors on my part - a ipython terminal would be awesome for small investigations For packages, I would wonder if condo-forge could be convinced to compile packages for iOS. Anyways, great work and I look forward to future updates..Version: 1.5.2

So Happy This ExistsI love this app, great to see it on the app store. I do hope to see theming support at some point - I would love to customize syntax and interface beyond just light/dark. Great app, works well, kudos..Version: 1.2.6

It’s fantastic. It’s the best version of what it does, hands down. Just leaving this review because after several months of great use, I ran into the first bug. Latest version, as it was offloaded by iCloud and just finished re-downloading. It immediately would crash on my iPhone XS, Black. I deleted and reinstalled… It’s fixed now. Great work guys!.Version: 2.0.12

Excellent .. best paid app in a long timeIntegrates well with files on iPad. I am doing my data science e-learning on iPad, and now can open up / edit / Run examples in iPad. Fantastic! I coded an IOS app before and submitted to AppStore, so I can appreciate the work done here. Worth every penny! Predictive text, import python modules, many popular already installed !! I love it. WELL DONE! I hope pywidgets work .. then have a new iOS application demo platform ; ).Version: 1.2.8

Great Jupyter AppThis app is great for most data science use cases. The selection of packages is quite good, although it would be good to see Keras / Tensorflow be implemented. (If it’s even possible) As a more realistic suggestion, it would be great if you could update the app to allow the editing and running of regular .py files in addition to notebooks. (Useful for writing and testing libraries that may be used in notebooks).Version: 1.3.14

AmazingHaving python and a markdown editor in your pocket is something that has been long overdue for the iPhone. Keep up the great work, this app is quite impressive..Version: 1.1.1

RevolutionaryPythonista, which I also have, was ahead of its time. However, it really didn't keep up. Juno is the golden standard now, nothing short of revolutionary. It puts an entire Python scientific and ML development environment in your device, including a Python interpreter, Jupyter, NumPy, Matplotlib, Pandas, SciPy, Scikit-learn and a few other libraries and packages. Oh, plus the capability to install additional pure Python libraries, such as SymPy. Fantastic and highly recommended..Version: 1.2.8

Good appWorth the price.Version: 1.1.0

It is great indeed! But working Directories...Only takes iCloud and local files on the iPad. Other locations such as GDrive, OneDrive or WorkDocs are not accessible the is no good. Please fix that.Version: 1.2.5

Works as well as Jupyter...as far as I knowAnd I don’t know much about coding lol.Version: 1.1.1

Just a suggestionI use this app often for Uni. I noticed that while on an iPad pro you cannot have a dual screen (i.e have juno open twice on the page). I feel this could be really helpful. Otherwise really user friendly!.Version: 1.3.9

Best IDETo anyone who is looking for a good mobile IDE for Python on IOS, this is probably the best app I have ever found! It contains more features than I could ever imagine :).Version: 1.2.8

I love this app, has helped me a lot!An absolute must for the data scientist, machine learning engineer or python programmer who works on the move..Version: 2.1.7

Really niceI am a mathematician and I like to use C, Fortran and Lua to do computations. After so many years, I decided to try Python for Math and Juno made it so easy for me to transition. So far, I like it and I have been able to use the libraries that I need to do my job like Numpy, SciPy and Pandas. Very nice tool and the support seems to be excellent..Version: 1.3.7

Excellent!Works great, huge convenience to run locally. Would like to have access to larger set of libraries so hope that is coming soon..Version: 1.1.0

Really goodI have fairly basic numpy / pyplot Notebooks that Juno deals with really well. Amusingly it also runs stuff faster than my MacBook. Works super well with the Working Copy git client..Version: 1.1.1

Great! But would like google driveAfter testing multiple apps for running Python code, I’m really happy to have found this one! The ability to save files on iCloud/OneDrive is great however, all of my jupyter notebooks are stored on google drive as it’s used for Uni (google colab). I only have .py files saved in iCloud. It would be amazing if there was the ability to access files from a google drive too. I use this app a lot on the go, but want to keep all my notebooks stored in the same place without needing to duplicate them. If this isn’t possible I’ll consider transferring them to OneDrive, but want to know if google drive integration could be featured in the future first 😊 P.s. Thanks! I no longer need to sit for hours at a computer desk and can work on projects no matter where I am!.Version: 2.1.6

You can external packagesGreat tool worth the mone. You can do most of what you might be used to with a desktop Jupyter notebook but with an iPad. Pure python packages can be installed on a per-notebook basis. I didn’t notice a way to install packages globally. I’ll keep digging and reading..Version: 1.3.14

Please add Pygame !I can’t do anything visual on this except for static images , whenever I try to install Pygame in Juno it says “installation from source failed” , I want to make games and other stuff but there’s nothing else on the App Store with this quality , respond if possible.Version: 1.2.9

Great AppI’ve been wanting an app to learn data science on the iPad for a long time and this has hit the right spot. I’m just waiting for scikit-learn to make it into the default packages!!!!.Version: 1.1.0

Excellent, Useful, and Fun Tool! The only issue I’ve encountered thus far is that ‘assert’ statements don’t do anything at all, and I really rely on them in certain cases..Version: 1.1.1

This is a good app, Hope for better improvement on the GUI moduleI use Juno to learn python in my IPad, but I find out I Juno have no supported GUI module for showing my work..Version: 1.5.2

Jupyter on iPad!!Great implementation, the interface is thoughtful, simple, and elegant, just like Jupyter! I’ve had no crashes and there’s a good number of well respected libraries, plus you can load others provided they’re pure Python. Nice!.Version: 1.3.11

Exactly what it says it isThis is a great Jupyter client for iOS. The only thing I wish it did would be to advance to the next cell automatically once the current cell is run..Version: 1.1.1

Amazing! One of the most valuable apps on my iPad Pro. Looking forward to future releases!.Version: 1.2.5

When are you going to update the Python latest version!!!etc….Requesting New featuresWe need this *advanced New features*!!! When are you going to update the Python version (Python 3.10.0/Python 3.9.9), add new programming languages such as R, Julia, C++, JavaScript, C#, Swift and more programming languages, update the latest Python3 frameworks/libraries, add Tensorflow, add Keras, add PyTorch and integrate Kaggle deep learning and integrate GitHub. Dev(s) we need this advanced features if you want this “Juno” app to be called a “pro ml/data science” app.Version: 1.3.14
