Not too complex!I see a link to github in safari - I click - it launches this app - forces me to log in OR register - I do - and then it takes me back to safari and github page! Why can’t it just make up its mind and show me that page either within safari or this app?? Because it’s now owned by MS!.Version: 1.22.0

No search functionalityFor me the most useful part of GitHub is search, but this appears to be missing from the app. Without search there is little you can do that’s useful..Version: 1.3.4

UnfinishedBeen using this for a few months, but just had to uninstall. The basic UI is fine and the app is much faster than the GitHub website. However the app is currently missing key features, such as displaying submodule SHAs, links to markdown anchors, and a handful of other smallish things. That wouldn’t be a problem in general except the app intercepts *all* GitHub URLs (such as email/chat links) with seemingly no way to say ‘open in the actual GitHub website’. Unfortunately this had meant too much frustration for me, so had to remove it..Version: 1.2.2

Cant sign in.Never used the app. First time installing it. Straight after it installed I opened it and tried to sign in. I got a error message saying that I triggered an abuse mechanism. Your anti-abuse is too sensitive. In using 4G mobile data with no other devices connected, never used the app before now, and haven’t touched my phone in hours prior to installing the app, so I don’t know what I could have possibly done to trigger your anti-abuse systems. My device is an iPhone Xs Max. Location Chengdu. Network is 4G China Mobile..Version: 1.2.1

Good at what it does, but has a glaring flawIf your mobile use of GitHub is focussed on management of the repos you work with, this official client will suit you well. If you’d like to author new content in a repo, create new repos, or perform other “coding” type activities, you’re out of luck. The fact that the “+” sign at the top of the main page can only create new Issues gives one a clear idea of the scope that GitHub has in mind for this app. However, that focus on repo management isn’t why I’ve uninstalled it: I’ve uninstalled it because the app too-greedily swallows all URLs being opened on my iPhone which look like they’re GitHub related, and then displays the app’s view of that URL. This *includes* URLs like downloads of Releases hosted on GitHub’s which uselessly pop up in the app, showing the repo that the Release came from ... but with no way to actually download the release! To see this in action, have this app installed and then *try* to download the PDF, mobi or ePub version of this open source book, linked right there on this page: https://git-scm\.com/book/en/v2. (I’ve deliberately broken the link so the App Store doesn’t see this as dodgy). It’s nigh-on impossible! Having this app installed means that any link you’re sent, or find, which looks a bit GitHub-like, will go straight to the app. If that works for you, fine. As a dev, I find it intolerable: app uninstalled :-(.Version: 1.2.3

13.4 compatibilityNeeds compatibility for mice and eternal keyboards which was added in iPadOS version 13.4, it would be a great addition and necessary for many people like myself.Version: 1.1.1

No Following? Only News?I am not seeing the notifications I would for repositories I follow? I use custom since I don’t want everything all at once, though I also don’t want all of this in my email. Can there be a context header? This is confusing; Is the app designed to allow me to work or permit me controlled access to GitHub? For the second there should be more features, but for the first of the two there would need to be a feed context that changes what displays, same as a workspace..Version: 1.74.0

Cannot authorise in loginHorrible experience. Not usable..Version: 1.2.0

I cannot merge PRs with owner permissionHi I have owner permission in a repository and I can’t merge prs without the limit of reviewers. I can do that in desktop.Version: 1.0.1

Has potential but too many dealbreakersI truly want to like this app but the bugs that have been around since I first used it are driving me crazy. Every time I add a new favorite it’ll disappear from my list a few minutes later, sometimes right before my eyes it’ll remove itself from my list. On top of that, the search functionality is atrocious, and way too limited. We can’t even search our own repos! The search functionality we do have for the rest of the site leaves a lot to be desired and doesn’t even return the same results as the website. We should be able to search our starred repos, our own repos as well as choose how our own repos are filtered, this is bottom of the barrell functionality that should be a no brainer. If its possible on the website, it should be possible in the application. Im honestly shocked at how little functionality this app offers as the official github client. lastly, iOS 14 required now? you cant be serious. time to write a good github client on my own I guess, supporting iOS 13 isnt difficult and theres absolutely nothing earth shattering offered in the 14 SDK that github needs to function. id be embarassed if i wrote an app this shoddy for such a high profile company..Version: 1.54.0

Poor multiple account supportI use a personal github account (of course). I have a separate work account which doesn't use github enterprise. The mobile app doesn't allow me to alternate between these two accounts..Version: 1.73.0

Can’t view wiki contentOverall, the app is just okay. I ended up having to uninstall it because somethings don’t work as expected. For example, if a repo is using the Wiki functionality, it’s not viewable in the app. Thus, if you click on a link to wiki content, it just brings you back to the main repo page in the app instead of the actual wiki content. The only resolution was to uninstall the app so I can view the content in Safari. At this point, it only gets 3 stars..Version: 1.2.4

Actually a pretty good appJust need to review them somewhere to complain about how it should be my choice to use a password. There are plenty of times when it’s a mild inconvenience to get a token, or get a ssh key associated with my account. I’m not a business and I don’t care about the security of my account. I’d rather not be inconvenienced when I set up a project on a new device or want to make a 1 line change on a device that isn’t my primary device. Let me opt out of this! Why must god give me his toughest battles? I want to be free. I wish to be free of the oppression of security fear mongers. Let me use a secure passphrase that is easy to remember!.Version: 1.135.0

Good for PR but that’s about itWould be cool to be able to edit code. Committing changes may so easily may have some risks but I would’ve liked to at least edit md files. That would be a huge benefit for a lot of people who got their website on GitHub pages. This would then become a blogging app too..Version: 1.28.0

Please let pinch zoom file contentsPlease let me zoom in out of a files contents when looking at a diff - would make a HUGE difference!.Version: 1.112.0

Missing a lot compared to mobile siteI wish mobile site was equivalent to the app. I end up switching to mobile site every now and then because either the UX is so different or just doesn’t have a feature. The app feels like a nice to have than GitHub really thinking out it’s mobile strategy with desktop/mobile site/ and mobile app functionality. Feels like to independent teams worked on this..Version: 1.2.3

Useful but juggling a lot of infoThis is definitely useful, but I would not use the mobile app to do PR reviews regularly. Too easy to miss critical context or information on the small screen. Also too much is presented at once. This app could be improved by better managing the intention of the person using it. Deliberately switching modes of inquiry and having the UI adjust is probably better than being able to do anything at anytime. MS Word does this with their toolbars and that’s okey for a word processor. It is burdensome in a mobile app where thoughtful review and clear communication is the end goal..Version: 1.15.0

Lacks editing capabilities for iPadOSProviding the ability to edit on iPadOS would be great, especially with the keyboard and mouse improvements in iPadOS 13.4. This would be the killer feature for me, and - if I may speak for them - fellow iPad Pro users..Version: 1.1.0

Strictly worse than the mobile web appThis app works for the most common few features and clears the very minimum needed to be useable. It’s strictly worse than the mobile website, though. There’s no way to list the active (or stale) branches of a repo or to paste in a github URL to go to that view. Worse, since creating this poor mobile app, Guyhub has started nagging mobile web users to install and open it. It’s nearly enough to bail on GitHub all together for non-OSS usage..Version: 1.74.0

Unusable on my ipad.I literally can't even log in. I click the button, go to put in my email, and I can select the box but the keyboard doesn't even appear..Version: 1.52.0

Can’t edit files in the appI was hoping to be able to edit files directly, from a 12.9” ipad. Seems like basic functionality is missing..Version: 1.44.0

Use if you want a broken GitHub experience; otherwise ensure uninstalled, and use the websiteI'm baffled at the new features being added without addressing the basic bugs. You can't follow links in readmes, it just errors. You can't follow links from elsewhere e.g. to a specific issue comment or PR, it just opens on the home page (but intercepts those links regardless)..Version: 1.2.1

Great app, but non-sense authentication side effectThe app is great, but has the non-sense side-effect of overriding user's default 2FA default method, with no option to NOT use this app as a 2FA method. Definitely a no-go..Version: 1.69.0

Pretty bad appWarning - if you install this app it will force you to use the app for MFA logins!.Version: 1.86.0

Cannot search inside a repo, cannot search codeMy goodness didn’t Microsoft fill this app store with employee reviews eh! Yeh, annoyingly nothing like the superb github.com. So many shortfalls it’s frustrating. Search bar has no advanced syntax, cannot search for something inside a repo (or it’s not obvious how you would) and cannot search code. Erm, isn't that the whole purpose!? It’s disappointing that such a well respected name in the developer world gives back so little in the ios one. It’s a joke. Top tip, install Working Copy by @palmin, clone the repo of interest and use his app to search code. It’s what I do until Microsoft figure out how to make a dev’s life easier..Version: 1.77.0

Wont give me discussions push notificationsWould love to love the mobile app but can’t for the life of me get notifications to Discussions..Version: 1.131.0

Can’t sign in.IPad Pro keyboard does not appear for sign in prompt. Downloaded this app to be stuck at the sign in screen..Version: 1.92.0

Had to uninstall the app due to a bug in the websiteFor technical reasons I want to use my TOTP app for 2FA, not the Github app. So when logging into the website I selected the TOTP app 2FA method and checked “use this method in the future”. But over the next few days, the Github website kept defaulting to the Github app verification method, despite the fact that each and every time I was asking it to use TOTP in the future. The only way to make it stop was to uninstall the app. At the end of the day, the app is a nice to have, the website is something I need, so I had to sacrifice the app..Version: 1.94.0

Way too basicSpecially when it comes to working with projects. I can’t even create a card?.Version: 1.119.0

We can't even edit codeWhat's the point.Version: 1.42.0

Can’t sign outNo easy way to sign out.Version: 1.2.2

I would like to say this would have been a great ideaI would like to know how I can correct the illegal actions that others have done to me and my family members. I have Been working for over a year now. Since I am not a coder or programmer it has been very challenging, to Say the least. The people who have been doing this to my family members do not and have not had the best interests to use your platform in a way that is for the greater good of humanity. I would appreciate if u could assist me with my account information, correcting every account that is not correct. Over a year of work is long enough, I know the details I would appreciate for you to send out a few updates to help me out ASAP thanks for the information.Version: 1.44.0

Cannot forkWhy cannot fork.Version: 1.119.0

Can’t sign in, no keyboardWhat a ridiculous bug, I can sign in because it doesn’t show the keyboard. Useless..Version: 1.44.0

Verification code does not match every timeGitHub generates two digit code which I have enter in this app while signin as 2FA is always invalid.Version: 1.94.0

Works okay, some minor QoL issuesI wish that the PR filters could just be set to view all PRs for a given repo… I can’t seem to find a way to do that Also lack of visibility on GitHub Actions doesn’t make this a very powerful mobile dev ops tool; would be nice to at least see the status of actions Ability to actually look at PRs and approve/comment is good 😊.Version: 1.56.0

Love It! Except….The app is so glitchy. There are, of course, certain things that you can’t do or access on the app, but that’s to be expected, it’s not supposed to act as a literal fully functional desktop app (that being said, being able to see insights would be a very useful feature). But. OMG. The bugs. The app will suddenly quit constantly for the simplest things like viewing a repo or seeing an organization, it’s become such a pain that I barely open the app nowadays because I know it’ll take so long with all the quitting that it’ll be faster to just open up my computer and see what I’m looking for. Overall, the app has a lot of potential. Until these bugs get fixed, though, I wouldn’t recommend using it..Version: 1.55.0

App experience is miserable0 helpful error messages, for some vague and ill defined login system that you must troubleshoot yourself through their site, which hilariously will open and be unviewable in the app automatically if you switch from your browser to another app (such as slack) and back. Also overrides links, so the process of avoiding the broken stuff that they can’t even articulate what is exactly wrong doesn’t even work as you’d like. The worst app I’ve used on iOS marketplace, and I’ve used some sketchy terrible stuff. Has half the features of the web app on mobile even when it does work..Version: 1.140.0

Network errors aboundEasier and more reliable to just use the website..Version: 1.75.0

Bugs galoreI generally use the website instead of this app because the functionality is pretty limited, and too often there’s something I want to do that the app simply does not support or supports poorly because of bugs. For example if you want to search issues from a particular author it only lets you filter on collaborators. Or if you’re reviewing a commit and select “Jump to file” it opens a page that shows the file name and nothing else. Stupid bugs that are very obvious..Version: 1.93.0

The only (BIG) downsideCant edit any files….Version: 1.50

Needs multi-account supportExcellent app for what it has so far! However, the biggest missing feature is support for having multiple accounts signed in at the same time, and being to get notifications from each of them and swapping between them on the fly. It would also be awesome if it supported multiple windows in iPadOS. Being able to reference other parts of a repo in a separate window or split whole reviewing a PR without needing to fallback to Safari would be so nice!.Version: 1.0.1

Pull request easeIt would be helpful to create a more simple way of creating a pull request.Version: 1.61.0

Search? When you browse code, I can’t find the search. Is it missing?.Version: 1.2.9

Love GitHub but can’t rate higher as I can’t see all my repositoriesI love this companion app but it has a big flaw where I can’t view all my repositories and they do not all appear on my list. When I drag the list to refresh it they all appear but as soon as is scroll they disappear again and if I can’t view them all then I can’t work on the ones I need to!.Version: 1.32.0

Awesome app, but needs some extra functionalityI love the app right now but I’m missing some functionality that would take it to the next level: 1. Multi user support. I often times have two or more github accounts and need to be able to sign in with two different users 2. External github server support. In order for this app to really work for a lot of us, we need to be able to sign into our companies hosted github instances. Without this, I can only work on the open source stuff or on things on my personal github account since the github instance I use for work cant be accessed using the app. I want to give you the 5 stars and when those two things happen, I will come back and change the review. Keep up the good work!.Version: 1.2.8

Used by hackersPlatform is used to share private information that was hacked off our servers. Our AWS server space was available for all to use..Version: 1.35.0

Repositories NOT showingTried everything but for the last few updates everytime i click on the “repositories” tab i get “Something went wrong, try again later”.Version: 1.91.0

Non-intuitiveThe website alone is much more difficult to use than gitlab; this app is barely useable. Very difficult to find what I'm looking for..Version: 1.113.0

Basically terribleI love and use GitHub every day, I’m one of the earliest GitHub users, and have a deep hatred for this app. It’s hard to navigate. Pretty and useless. No way to get where I want, or do anything. Feels like it’s designed by someone who has never actually used GitHub or worked as a developer..Version: 1.64.0

Used to outstandingIt was such a great app but for a few weeks now notifications (not push) are extremely buggy. Sometimes it loads old ones that I already marked as seen, sometimes it just takes forever to load anything. Very frustrating, this app used to make my job so much smoother and now it’s just a hassle. Please fix it..Version: 1.133.1

Unstable nowUsed to have nothing bad to say about this app but recently it has been crashing while I am editing a file.Version: 1.135.0

Suggestion for navigation improvementUse case is as follows: - i see a github repo link in safari. let's call that repo ABC. - i click on it - the link opens in github app (all steps below are in the app, not safari) - i navigate the repo ABC - at some point i navigate to home (eg by swipe right from the left border) - i cannot navigate back to repo ABC i was viewing. i need to go back to safari to open the link ABC again....Version: 1.19.0

Not badCould be made more useful. How about integrating Copilot Chat for subscribers, so we can ask questions about repositories?.Version: 1.133.0

Adding to listWhen you add to list, it doesn’t show it properly!.Version: 1.137.0

Impoverished functionality, limited utilityLack of basic functionality (inability to bookmark repos opened from external links, fixed and tiny font size, lack of code line numbers, missing summary information about last changes on directory or file lines) render it a nice proof-of-concept, not much more. Developers were impervious to suggestions through TestFlight - it’s difficult to imagine what they believe this can do the standard site viewed in a web browser can’t do better..Version: 1.2.2

Needs a lot of workUseful, but the UX needs a lot of improvement. It doesn’t even remember what you were doing when you switch out of the app. I’ve created a List of repositories which apparently serves no use at all, And if I want to browse a repository I literally looked at five minutes ago, I have to search for it all over again..Version: 1.115.0

Bad UX, but functionalWhile the app works fairly smoothly, it’s often hard to find the basics. Where is the code I need to review in this PR? Scroll up and down..Version: 1.87

No forking waySo frustrated. Can’t get to my computer, just want to fork a repo. Why can’t this be done from either the app or from the website on mobile? Can’t even seem to get the Desktop site from a mobile browser when you request it anymore. Going to need to manually fork from an ssh app just to accomplish this, which I think also doesn’t get you the normal additional GitHub fork features. I don’t really understand what the point of the app is if it doesn’t give you fundamental features of GitHub..Version: 1.54.0

BuggyThe app is well done but unfortunately appears to be buggy. I am constantly getting a “403 - secondary rate limit” error whenever I try to browse the code of any repository - the app screen then switches to a generic error message “something went wrong”. :|.Version: 1.32.1

Github app shouldn’t open up web pagesI don’t like it when I’m researching something on Google Chrome and it opens up the app when I click on a GitHub project. The web interface is easier to use /read and has more functionality. I want to delete this app every time it does that but I need it for 2fa authentication..Version: 1.93.0

Can’t sign in :(I can’t seem to sign in to GitHub. I kept saying that I did not have the correct email or password, although I kept try knowing I put in the right email/password but it just didn’t work!.Version: 1.4.2

Where are the actions??Can’t find.Version: 1.74.0

Unfortunately quite limitedEverything you can do can be done well if the client has the capability of doing it, but the app lacks many features and is generally worse to use than the website. Also another shot in the foot as the app pulls you from the website often, and annoyingly when its from a part of the website that the app cannot replicate the functionality of. The app is good for what it can do but is lacking too much. Please fix this app up!.Version: 1.56.0

Support for GitHub projectdPlease add support for GitHub projects including seeing cards in draft mode which would open up to the use of it as a Kanban board mobile.Version: 1.94.0

Like a web browser but worseMultiple tabs, bookmarking, sharing links, Handoff between devices, a history of everything you’ve looked at… these all features you get for free by using GitHub in a web browser, but things you aren’t allowed to do in this app. Even worse, the app eats all GitHub links so you can’t even view a GitHub page in a browser if you want to. I would rather have the web version of GitHub be more responsive and full featured at any screen size than have limiting platform-specific apps. This isn’t 2009 when the iPhone first came out, you can’t get away with having a limited “mobile” version of your website and a basic app with a limited subset of functionality anymore..Version: 1.2.1

The PWA is still betterThe app doesn’t show activity of the users I follow like the PWA does. This app seems to favor the personal development experience over the user discovery experience, which I don’t fully understand (if I want to keep close track of a repo that’s having changes made to it frequently, I’d much rather do that on my computer than my phone). I’ll update my review as soon as the user activity feed is added, like it is on the main site Dashboard, but at this point it just feels like a MVP..Version: 1.0.1

Feature RequestPlease add ability to create and edit new source files. It’s a solution looking for a problem. Not much use until text edit is possible..Version: 1.85.0

No Gist Support?Installed on my phone to mess around with gist but it’s not there :(.Version: 1.2.3

Missing create repo optionAnd now it’s installed on my phone I can no longer create a repo using the browser as the app grabs control..Version: 1.7.0

Search code from appMaybe I’m missing it, but there doesn’t seem to be any action to search a repo or file..Version: 1.84.0

Can’t view more than one fileI tried this app because viewing source code in a browser no longer works on iPad. But the code browser in this app is terrible. It’s slow and clunky, and won’t let you view more than one file. So it’s not suitable for viewing code..Version: 1.113.0

Cant sign inCant sign in it keeps says you password or emails is incorrect.Version: 1.43.0

Almost not Github that I know. This App does many fundamental things that I use day to dat with Github completely differently, from Search to Closing issues or events commenting, rendering it useless if you expect to do the same work. Consistency triumphs any gimmick you consider improvement..Version: 1.80.0

Projects on mobile aren’t functionalYou can’t quickly add or move around issues or drafts for a given project on mobile, which is quite frustrating..Version: 1.119.0

Miss use platformSome people in India miss use this platform easily so we need to #ban GitHub.Version: 1.44.0

Integrate with Dev SpacesOn GitHub web, you just press the “.” key and the repository opens in VSCode in the browser. Ideally, this should be possible in this app as well. Otherwise, we have to navigate back to the web experience in Safari to use it..Version: 1.80.0

Some challenges, but useable- request to load pull request frequently fail on the first try - submitting comment sometimes throws an error saying the operation failed but when I refresh the page the comment is actually there - the review modal closes seemingly by itself multiple times when I’m typing a review and I have to reopen it to finish writing the review I think the app is needed, especially with iPadOS and more people using magic keyboard. I hope there is continued investment in the app and these problems are addressed..Version: 1.1.2
